No claudiques.
Sigue andando.
Sigue confiando.
Soy un mensajero.
Bendito eres.

2023.04.01 20:25 Throwaway743638 Charged with Assault and Battery on +60/Disabled with Injury in Massachusetts [24 M]

On the 28th of March, I was riding my bicycle to work. While going down a highway bridge, I looked up to see construction vehicles on my right-hand side, a white jeep in the right lane, and more construction vehicles on the left of the car.
I started to press the brakes on my bike slowly and attempted to slow down; while beginning to cross the road, the white SUV, which was not moving beforehand, took a right-hand turn and nearly collided with me. Startled, I stopped the bicycle on the curb and turned to face the driver. He rolled down the window and started to scream at me, and I yelled back and eventually walked over to the vehicle, to the driver's side. The driver was seated and had the window down. He stated that it was my fault for nearly getting hit, and I kept repeating why he was stopped at an intersection and did not look to his right.
After this, he shoved his driver-side door to me; I stepped back and pushed the door back. He got out of the car, continued to scream at me and then I spit on this coat. After this, he grabbed my collar with his right hand and punched the side of my head (with a helmet on) with his left hand. He pushed forward, and I raised my hands to make contact with his face and neck to try and get him away. He kept going forward, tried to unbuckle my helmet, and hit my head. I fell with him on top of me, he eventually knocked my glasses off my face, and I raised both hands; simultaneously, a police officer walked over and tried to separate us. I was struggling as I wore a thick winter coat, had my backpack with several items, and had limited mobility.
I stood up and walked to the curb, which the cop told me to head toward. While I was standing on the curb, I did not say anything. The other person began to scream that he would kill me, run me over with his car, and that he wanted me in jail. The cop and another construction worker who went to pick up and walk my bike over to me told him to stop talking, or he would go to jail.
After some time, the other man started to yell that he was a veteran, 72 years old, and had a heart condition. The officer at the site had called for backup. The responding officers took both of our statements, and I explained what happened, including the fact that I spit. The officers wrote down my statement and explained that because no one saw who started the fight, it was considered assault without prior and that we could both head our way and decided to press charges on our own. As I readied myself to leave, the officers returned and arrested me, explaining that due to his age, the charge was moved to assault and battery on +60/disabled with injury.
According to the statement, the victim had cuts to his face and complained of minor chest pains. When speaking to the officers during the booking process, they explained he was medically fine and released from the hospital. After being arraigned, I was let go without mention of an 802 or bail. I looked through the statement, and the other individual rewrote the entire narrative stating that I had spat on him while he was sitting and punched him after ripping him out of his car.
There were no witnesses to the actual start of the incident, only to the two of us on the ground.
For my background, I [24 M] have no criminal or civil record. I am a graduate student on leave of absence from a university in London. I did my undergraduate in the local area and volunteer at three organisations when I am not working. I have been saving money for the entire year to return to school. I do not go around beating up senior citizens. After speaking to several attorneys, I was reprimanded for admitting to spitting to the police, emphasising that I would not go to jail and that my legal focus would be keeping my record clean. emphasising
The two strategies which emerged were to ask for either pre-trail probation or a CWOF.

2023.04.01 19:52 Beneficial-Mango-955 Ripple vs. SEC "Hypotheticals" (The Story Teller)

Enjoy 😉 Entertainment purposes only. To read and enjoy as a pass time.
Scenario 1:
Hypothetically speaking, after a long legal battle, Ripple finally emerged victorious in its lawsuit with the SEC. The settlement that followed allowed Ripple to continue distributing XRP without any legal hurdles. This victory immediately led to a surge in demand for XRP, and the cryptocurrency began to rise rapidly in value.
Over time, the world caught on to the potential of XRP. Its speed, security and efficiency made it an ideal candidate for being used as a reserve currency. The United States, along with many other nations, embraced this new cryptocurrency as their primary reserve currency.
Everything seemed to be going according to Ripple's plan, but then the financial crisis of 2023 hit the U.S. economy hard. The government was struggling to come up with a solution to reset the economy and provide relief to its citizens. That's when Ripple stepped in and offered to use XRP to help the country reset its economy.
Scenario 2:
Hypothetically, Ripple Inc. had been embroiled in a long-standing legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over whether XRP was a security or not. After a grueling legal process, Ripple was able to present enough evidence to convince the SEC that XRP was indeed a legitimate cryptocurrency and not a security. As a result, Ripple was able to settle the lawsuit without admitting any wrongdoing.
The settlement with the SEC marked a turning point for Ripple and XRP. With the legal uncertainty surrounding XRP now resolved, the cryptocurrency quickly gained popularity among investors and users alike. Its fast transaction times and low fees made it an attractive alternative to traditional currencies.
As XRP gained acceptance, it slowly began replacing other currencies around the world. Eventually, it became the world's newest reserve currency, used for international trade and transactions. Many countries began to hold XRP reserves, and it was widely accepted as a means of payment for goods and services.
Scenario 3:
Hypothetically, in a stunning turn of events, the lawsuit between Ripple and the SEC came to an amicable settlement. Ripple agreed to pay a hefty fine and would be allowed to continue its operations without any further legal restrictions.
Following this, Ripple's XRP started gaining ground as a popular digital currency worldwide. It gained mainstream adoption and was instrumental in daily transactions between individuals and organizations.
The US economy was facing a deep recession, and the government was looking for ways to reset the economy. The Federal Reserve, the US central bank, proposed a radical solution involving a bail-in using XRP. This would involve converting a portion of the investor's digital assets, including XRP, into legal tender to reset the economy.
The plan was initially met with skepticism, but as the benefits became apparent, it quickly gained momentum. This scheme was seen as a success as the economy reset and benefited from the influx of money into the market. The world watched as a new reserve currency is XRP.
Scenario 4:
Hypothetically, in the year 2023, Ripple finally emerged victorious in its lawsuit against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the United States. The company had been battling for years to prove that its cryptocurrency asset, XRP, was not a security as defined by SEC regulations. Finally, the judge declared in favor of Ripple, finding no evidence to support the SEC's allegations.
As a result of the ruling, the head of the SEC was fired and replaced by someone more sympathetic to the blockchain industry. XRP, which had been undervalued for years due to regulatory scrutiny, skyrocketed in value as investors flocked to buy up the digital asset now deemed safe from further litigation.
XRP soon went on to become the world's reserve currency, replacing the US dollar as the dominant global currency. Its value continued to soar as central banks began to stockpile their reserves with XRP, recognizing its stability and security. With XRP as the world's reserve currency.
The End....Enjoy I'll be posting these daily let me know if you guys enjoy. ~TheStoryTeller

2023.04.01 19:31 ThePoliticalLibrary Books about workers, labor, the lower-classes, and left-wing politics in the United States and Canada (Books that are free to borrow and read online on the Internet Archive): Part 1

Disclaimer: The Internet Archive is currently undergoing litigation to determine the legality of its book lending program that is being challenged by major publishers. Impending legal action may render this list obsolete for the purpose of borrowing these books from the Internet Archive. To learn more, search up Hachette v. Internet Archive.
The format of this list previously took the form of a post with a chain of comments continuing the list due to character limits. This list is now divided into separate posts (which I believe would be easier to update and search) indicated as Part 1, Part 2, and so on.
The lending library of the Internet Archive allows you to renew your checkout immediately after the time for borrowing has elapsed, whether it's borrowable for 1 hour or 14 days. This selection of books will be updated. I recommend to those interested to check this post once a week for updates. This list has exceeded the character limit for this post. 2023.04.01 18:58 ClimateParticular377 hi there...Does anyone here had widespread 24/7 fasciculations with main spot in tongue?

My brother (39) has this situation for past 2 months and he is extremely concerned and depressed about ALS. Although He had normal EMNG ( didn't had needle in bulbar area) and no weeknes , normal drinking, speaking and eating. Guys...you k it in what situation we are. He is crying and saying goodbye and I am terrified but trying to be optimistic because there is no weeknes for 2 months now.

2023.04.01 18:53 AlienRouge Which moments of Al Swearengen's kindness (however crass or brusque) stuck with you the most?

I just watched S2E07 (EB Was Left Out) and the scene where Trixie is complaining to Al that she can't take Bullock's "harping" anymore while she tries to learn accounting. Al responds with "Now harpin's on the same level of hardship as a boot on your fucking neck."
I see this as him acknowledging that he mistreated her in the past while also reminding her that she's lived through far worse than struggling with decimals. He is her secret cheerleader - trying to see her lot improved, so to speak.
What's yours?

2023.04.01 18:52 XoXSciFi Retiring from Cooper case on 04/30/2023

Submitted by Robert Blevins of Adventure Books of Seattle: Eight years and about 70 articles later, I have made the decision (as Bruce Smith did a few months ago) to retire from active participation in the Cooper case. There are a number of reasons for this decision, but the two biggest ones are because I want to finish up my autobiography, (titled Cooperland of course) and move back into science fiction writing. Lately, I have been traveling a lot and investigating the homeless problem plaguing this country, and will be doing articles based on my travels and speaking to many of these people.
I first started investigating Cooper back in early 2009 and that adds up to 14 years. I was never able to prove conclusively that Kenny Christiansen and Bernie Geestman were the guys behind the Cooper hijacking, but I will always be of the opinion they probably were. But 'probably' is a long way from 'certain'. And today in 2023 most of the witnesses regarding those two are dead and gone, and I will never be able to prove the allegations against them conclusively. Not beyond a reasonable doubt, and certainly not enough to convince a jury.
I've also come to the idea that the Cooper case will never be solved unless some hard evidence finally emerges in the future. It may end up like the Scorpio and Jack The Ripper cases, where the perp simply gets away with it and no one ever figures out to a certainty who he was. At least to a degree that will convince EVERYONE the case is solved. The FBI, and even the crew of 305, missed many opportunities to get the evidence that would have led to the capture of Cooper and they failed. Especially the FBI.
For example, it's too bad that First Class stewardess Alice Hancock didn't think to borrow a camera from one of the passengers beyond the curtain and sneak a few photos of Cooper during the time they were circling and waiting for the chutes and the money. Or during that tiny window when everyone was leaving the plane that the crew didn't bail using the rope ladder, and the stews didn't just flee out the forward door with the passengers. If they had, we would not be here now. They had an opportunity to do that safely, but it didn't last long and then Mucklow went back to be with Cooper, and then the other two stews went back to retrieve their purses. Missed it by that much, as Don Adams would have said in Get Smart.
If Cooper was ex-military, maybe one reason they never identified him is because of the big fire at the Military Records Center in St. Louis a few years after the hijacking. All fingerprints were kept on paper there in your main record and nowhere else. If Cooper had never been arrested in his life and his prints were destroyed in the fire, then the FBI would never be able to match the prints they obtained in Reno after the hijacking. I have always suspected this was the case.
Anyway....I am packed up and heading out again today and I wish you all well. This time I will be at Rimrock Lake for a couple of weeks, which is about 40 miles WEST of Yakima, WA.
Sincerely, Robert

What is trade effluent?

In the UK any wastewater that is produced as part of an industrial or commercial process is referred to as “trade effluent”.
Trade effluent is typically waste water or other waste liquids that are not considered to be domestic sewage or uncontaminated rainwater run-off.
This can include wastewater from manufacturing and production activities, cooling processes, washing etc.
The Water Industry Act 1991 describes trade effluent as follows:
… any liquid, either with or without particles of matter in suspension in the liquid, which is wholly or partly produced in the course of any trade or industry carried on at a trade premises.
If your water is not considered to be domestic sewage or uncontaminated rainwater run-off then you need to deal with it differently.

Consent to discharge trade effluent

If you intend to discharge any industrial wastewater or trade effluent in to a public sewer or watercourse such as a river, stream, lake or the sea then you will need to obtain specific consent from your local sewerage undertaker.
If you fail to do this you will be breaking the law and may face legal action and substantial fines.

A consent to discharge trade effluent will normally specify limits on the following:

  • EFFLUENT VOLUMESMaximum daily volume of effluent to be discharged.
  • RATE OF DISCHARGEMaximum rate of effluent discharge.
  • TOTAL SUSPENDED SOLIDSDetails of Total Suspended Solids (TSS) of the effluent to be discharged.
  • CHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMANDDetails of the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) of the effluent.
  • TEMPERATUREThe temperature range of the effluent.
  • PH RANGE.The pH range of the effluent.
  • OTHER FACTORSAny other wastewater quality, environmental or health and safety parameters based on the type of effluent to be discharged.

Evaluating your wastewater & trade effluent needs

Typically the treatment of industrial effluents involves a number of distinct stages and technologies, depending on the industry, type and concentration of contaminants and overall complexity of the effluent stream involved.
Through our team of wastewater treatment experts we can perform a comprehensive evaluation of your waste processes and effluent discharge requirements to advise on the selection of the most appropriate methods and technologies for the treatment of your wastewater in order to meet discharge compliance standards in the most economic and environmentally sensitive way.
  • Monitoring levels of metals in your effluent

2023.04.01 17:16 ShadowNintzzz [Spoiler Discussion] 11 Seconds of Hell: Territory, or... Gluttony?

I'd like to get straight to the point with this post. So, without further ado, here we go.
We know that Al's Authority isn't a passive Authority like RBD because of side stories. Rather, it's a sort of "Territory" he needs to physically activate himself. During the fourth volume of Arc 7, Al lost his Authority because of Olbart's infantilization. This does not correspond with when his Od was pierced by Olbart's hand, but it instead corresponds to the shrinking itself. We can see Olbart himself directly state this fact in Arc 7, Chapter 47, Section 3.
Olbart: [Yesterday, I couldn’t understand what trick ya were usin’, one-armed one. But it stopped workin’ since ya turned little, didn’t it?]
Al: [Ka… Hk.]
Olbart: [Can’t use the skills ya learned at a later age when you’re young.]
Although we don't know if Al specifically remembers how to use it or not, Olbart's line has the side effect of indirectly implying that Al didn't inherently know what the activation conditions of his Authority were upon receiving it. If this is true, then he must have either found out what they were by pure chance, or someone else (Satella and his teacher are potential candidates) had to have shown him the reins.
When it comes to the specifics of Al's extremely vague Authority, we know that it has to be constrained and wrapped within an area. This one is from Section 9 of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
“I don’t know the width or the length of this place! I’m at a disadvantage, but can I wrap it in…...!?”
At the Crimson Lapis Castle, Al was inside the castle, and unless the ability was retconned, it should have stayed inside the castle's confines when we apply the logic featured from the above line in PPZ. Currently, we know that the Territory should have been inside the Crimson Lapis Castle, Al was still in control of his Authority until he became a child, and lastly, Subaru was at the top of the castle when he was doing his loops and trying to get past the eleventh second. So if it's not Al's Authority, what gives?
Subaru's Taboo on speaking about death was inactive in Chapter 75, but it was active in Chapter 44. This would mean that Satella only lost sight of Subaru at a point beyond Chapter 44 and sometime before the middle of Chapter 52. Next up, the narration in Chapter 56's Section 4 said of Al that the false Great Disaster would not have happened had he specifically not choose to act with Subaru.
――No, he did not. He had never been prepared for it. He had just averted his eyes from it, pretending to be optimistic that it would not come to pass, even when the possibility crossed his mind.
The danger that this would happen, as long as he was working with Natsuki Subaru, was plenty. Not just a little, but more than enough.
Rather, this situation would not have occurred had he acted alongside anyone besides Natsuki Subaru.
This would suggest it's something to do with Al and that it's probably his Territory, right? Well... Here's where one other thing comes into play. Satella lost sight of Subaru again after he and Tanza were teleported to Ginunhive, which did not happen with the first teleportation that brought him to Vollachia in the first place. The only one directly involved in blowing the shadows away was Tanza, and it had nothing to do with Al's Authority. Satella and Subaru were only reunited when the latter willed it in Chapter 75.
The first time Satella returned to Subaru, it was when he thought about the issues regarding RBD, and the narration stated that the ruin of the utopia (Chaosflame) was brought about solely by him, meaning Subaru must have triggered this himself somehow. This should not be possible with Al's Authority because Al had the ability to recall it properly before becoming a child and we've never seen the unique abilities of someone else's Authority used in this way. If it had nothing to do with Al's Territory, then that means the loops in Chaosflame and Ginunhive were caused by Subaru being separated from Satella, or in other words, it was his own Authority without Satella to add onto its powers.
If the incident in Chapter 52 and Chapter 53 is not related to Al's Territory despite how he blames himself for it and if Satella's Taboo was still working in Chapter 44, then you may ask, "how can this be explained"? In between these two chapters, in Chapter 47's Section 1, there was another notable incident regarding an Authority, and it was the reactivation of Louis's Authority of Gluttony.
Instead of then hauling Louis out, he simply and unavailingly vocalised. Taking Louis’s hand, gripping it tight with both of his palms, he desperately articulated whilst imbuing it with a prayer.
Subaru: [Please don’t die……!]
Forgetting to even search for something he could do to prevent her from dying, he voiced an absurd wish.
To this trembling voice of Subaru’s, Louis’s eyelids faintly opened, and――,
Louis: [――Ua, uu.]
A weak voice escaped her, as the young girl’s pupils regained faint strength.
This is the moment when Louis regained her strength and seemingly began using the powers of Lunar Eclipse again. However, if you've paid attention to all of the noises that Louis has made in Arc 7 by this point in time, you'll notice that this is when she starts using "uau" a lot, though she appeared to also use it in Chapter 12 when activating Rem's healing magic. When you look at the name Subaru, you'll notice that it looks like she's calling out Subaru's name. Louis's usage of "uau" ramped up after this chapter, and this isn't a coincidence.
Now hear me out. None of this has any sort of confirmation or even much of an indication, but if you think about it, this is certainly a possibility. The theory here is that Subaru and Louis's connection here would temporarily get rid of Satella's ability to locate the former. The two would have some sort of strange connection at this moment (Perhaps involving Od stuff and complexities with her ties to the Corridor of Memories), causing the latter to start using her Authority again and trying to say Subaru's name whenever she makes the "uau" noise, tying her current state to whatever happened with what he did just beforehand.
This directly leads to the reveal that she's a Sin Archbishop, and Al attempts to kill her upon hearing this. Subaru and Louis immediately flee afterwards, and this can be a mistake that Al blames himself for. Per Chapter 55's narration, this could have also been an issue caused by Al's nearby presence in the mix. Cue the eventual leadup to the confrontation with Olbart, and rather than seeing Al's Territory, we'd instead get loveless RBD, which is consistent with the logic we see on Ginunhive. The false Great Disaster hits, then Ginunhive, and then Subaru's connection with Satella was only reestablished when he called out for Satella's help in Chapter 75 and accepted her feelings. Because loveless RBD would have been the ability used in both Chaosflame and Ginunhive in this case, things would work more smoothly.
TL;DR: In theory, rather than using Al's Authority during the 11 second loop, Subaru used the weaker version his Authority (Loveless RBD) after being separated by Satella. This Subaru/Satella separation could have been caused by the reactivation of Louis's Authority due to the strange nature of her existence.
I don't think we can quite work out the specifics behind all that happened in Chaosflame right now, but unless what we know about Al's Authority is turned on its head, the Territory theory in Chapter 52 and Chapter 53 of Arc 7 appears unlikely for the time being. But maybe that'll change into one direction or the other soon. Who can say for sure?

Why use a water softener?

The build-up of scale from hard water sources can cause a number of serious and potentially costly problems in many commercial, process and industrial applications, these can include:
  • REDUCED PERFORMANCE & INCREASED ENERGY CONSUMPTIONAs scale accumulates on internal heat transfer surfaces it acts as an excellent insulator, reducing both heat transfer and cooling efficiencies. This can reduce plant performance significantly and lead to significantly increased energy costs.
  • INCREASED MAINTENANCE COSTS & REDUCED EQUIPMENT RELIABILITYAs scale accumulates internal surfaces become constricted and coated in scale reducing flow rates and impacting reliability and life expectancy of equipment.
  • EQUIPMENT DAMAGEIf left untreated scale can build-up on the internal surfaces of pipework, boiler tubes and other heat transfer surfaces. Under certain circumstances this unwanted accumulation of scale can cause boilers and pipework to overheat, and in extreme circumstances catastrophic failure can result.

Where are industrial water softeners used?

Our industrial water softening systems and commercial water softeners are used anywhere where medium to hard water conditions exist i.e. where the local water supply contains higher concentrations of calcium and magnesium salts. Such hard water conditions can cause the unwanted scaling of industrial and process equipment including:
  • COOLING TOWERS & AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS
  • DISTRICT & CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEMS
  • INDUSTRIAL BOILERS & STEAM GENERATING EQUIPMENT
  • REVERSE OSMOSIS PRE-TREATMENT PLANT
  • INDUSTRIAL & PROCESS WATER APPLICATIONS
  • HEAT EXCHANGERS
  • HOT WATER HEATERS
  • STEAM OVENS
  • DISHWASHERS & WASHING MACHINES
