Was he only after one thing?
2023.03.31 03:43 pandaxpressss Was he only after one thing?
Guy (28M) and I (29F) matched on hinge and we did not text very much prior to meeting in person. However, during the initial texts he was very specific that we are going on a “date”, said romantic things like we can take pictures together, and scrapbook together (basically sounds like he’s futurizing things). He suggested our first date by his neighborhood but I suggested otherwise. We met up he was a really kind gentleman but he did touched my waist a couple times (to make sure I’m not by the car side of the roads) and he also held my hand when we were watching a horror movie. I noticed he kept glancing at me during the movies as well. Anyways to be honest, he texted me the next day saying we should meet by his neighborhood the next date & that he can drive me. Idk why he keeps insinuating to meet by his town. I also felt my personal space to be violated during the first date so I called him to tell him how I feel and that I don’t like physical contact during the first few dates. As we continued talking on the phone, he said once I’m comfortable I should go over to his place to cook, watch TV together, and that when we are together what are my cheat codes (giving massages etc). He also said i will sweep you off my feet etc. we can take pictures together on more dates but I mentioned Instagram but he said he has one but sounded hesitant to follow me. I mean I only met him once but it just sounds like he really wants me to hang out in his town/his place. What are his intentions is he trying to insinuate sexual contact? I only met him once. Today I texted him and he never responded back. He’s a doctor for 28 years old that’s pretty good I guess but I’m not sure if I’m overthinking this connection.

2023.03.31 03:37 pandaxpressss Did I just get trolled?

2023.03.31 03:36 FLUFFCAT13 Captain's Collapse: Part 17
well, this is it. the last part of CC that I'll be posting for the next 3 weeks. I have a lot coming up very soon, but I'll be back after the holidays to finish this off. as for New Smith, part 3 will be out on the weekend, but I'll be taking a shorter break from it too.
this time, everything is starting to come together. the Scions are out of their battle honeymmon now, with causalties stacking up and an arms race coming to a head, so they're in big trouble, but it looks like there are some skeletons in the closet as well. oh, and Orvin and Flick are off for a little trip to Axiom 5 for some fun away from all those responsibilities, but there will be a short chapter on their misadventures when I come back.
and, as always, enjoy this absolute mess
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject Memory Transcription: Orvin, Venlil Civilian
Breaking into a shipyard and “reacquiring” my ship. It sounded easy on paper, but in practice, as these things always are, it was a daunting task.
Focus. You have a job to do, so don’t get distracted I stalked along the chain link fenceline, until I found the spot. I stopped, and let my claws cleave through the barrier like it was made of wet paper. I traced a second line down to the ground, then bent the cutaway upwards, making a clean entrance.
“Least you could do is wait for me. I mean, I know this isn’t supposed to be drawn out, but I haven’t got the stamina to just keep walking for so long” Flick leaned on the fence to catch his breath. This might be a problem. “Pass the water please.”
I fished inside my satchel, and tossed the water bottle I brought over to him. He caught it effortlessly, took a swig, and passed it back. “Look, if it’s that bad, you carry the bag and I’ll carry you, alright? We really haven’t got the time for this.” I scanned the area again, and there was still no sign of movement.
He grinned, and I could see those flat teeth glimmer under the faint ultraviolet of the moonlight. We had picked the best time to break in, as his tidally locked planet only had actual nighttime darkness for a short time every few weeks. “Sounds good. As the humans say, giddy up horsey.” I shook my head and chuckled. “Say that again and I strap you to the roof of the ship,
Ini-shu gelta”
My Venlil was coming along in leaps and bounds. I barely needed my external translator anymore, and was even able to speak fairly fluently in a more casual version of the language. The writing was still a bit difficult for me, but that was more a matter of adjusting to the angular characters over the curves I was used to rather than a language barrier. Of course, none of this would be possible without that part of my brain that was custom-engineered for learning new languages quickly with the help of a second, delayed translator to feed the meaning in just after the word. But it didn’t really matter, as the main reason I was so dedicated to learning was because his face always lit up when I spoke in his native tongue, even if it was only to call him a fluffy goblin.
He gave me a gentle punch in the arm as he passed, and we kept moving. Once past the fence, we started working our way through the wide array of small spacecraft, searching for mine. When a flashlight illuminated the ground ahead, we hauled ourselves onto the wing of one of the larger crafts and waited in silence as footsteps went by. It was absolutely thrilling, this misadventure into such a heavily patrolled area.
Once the Terran guard had passed by, I dropped down silently, and caught him when he came after me, taking care not to let my high-traction boots slide on the gravel. But then, as I stepped forward, the ground crunched under me, and the Terran spun on his heels
Time to haul ass I didn’t wait for the hairless, armoured brute to react. She stood at least a foot taller than me, and significantly wider, but I knew I could easily outrun her. I took Flick’s paw, he nodded at me, and we sprinted full-tilt down the row. The Terran yelled something from behind us, but we were rapidly putting distance between us and her. Until I ran headfirst into another one, knocking us both over. He struggled upright, but two more guards came to his aid, surrounding us.
Well, shit But Flick stepped forward and held out a sheet of paper. The tallest of the three took it, read it, and passed it back, before saying something I couldn’t decipher into his radio and nodding at us.
“Come on, lets move. We need to find that ship.”
Flick was panting after our sudden frenzied sprint, but he somehow acted calm and collected, as if this nothing had happened.
“No, hang on, why did they just leave us alone? I don’t have my translator in, so I didn’t understand a word of what they said.” He just shook his head and laughed. “You know, bureaucracy isn’t always your enemy. Sometimes, you just need to go through the right channels to do something.”
That little shit I was being very, very patient here with his nonsense. “So you’re telling me that we are legally allowed to be here doing this, that we could have just waltzed in through the front desk and straight up to my ship, and you just… didn’t tell me?” But he just dismissed it. “Look, we could have gone in the easy way, but you were enjoying planning our little adventure, so I opted to let you have your fun. Come on, this is the fun way.”
Then, I saw it. Those purple hand painted flames on the silver hull, and the small lumps dotted across the armour, each one showing the position of a shield generator. There it was, in all its glory, the
SkyBreaker.

Subject Memory Transcription: Commander Yek’ta, Scion Gunship
Etemar Fighting a melee battle against an Arxur horde was something every Scion dreamed of. It was exhilarating, cutting down opponents one after the other with huge blades whirling like ribbons in my massive paws. Shots ricocheted off my plate armour and sparks flew as the reptiles launched every round they had at me, but I simply pushed on.
One of them tripped as he backed away firing, and almost instinctively I swung one arm around and let go, sending three hundred kilograms of titanium straight through his chest and into the ground. A rocket burst on my back, but I shook the impact off, threw myself forward, tore the blade out from the soil and brick, and swung it around in a wide arc, tearing half a dozen Arxur in half as the razor edge sliced effortlessly through their thin body armour and snapped their bones as it passed. Nothing could defend against the sheer force of my blade, and that was evident when I brought it overhead and downwards onto one Arxur with a gigantic shield and shotgun.
The satisfying crunch of arxur being smeared and splattered like rotten fruit was enough to keep my bloodlust moving, and I slowly carved a path through the huge horde and towards my target. Nothing could stop me, nothing could get in my way. Nothing.
And then, the radio crackle.
It was just a buzz, but got louder and louder until it was a scream across every frequency. A light sprung from the upper atmosphere like a second sun, as the
Etemar unloaded half of its core into the Arxur fleet above, signalling the end of the battle. The remaining reptiles fled at the sight of it, taking pot-shots as they ran, but orbital precision strikes rained down across the field like a hailstorm of nuclear wrath, tearing up the ground and reducing Arxur to atoms.
And that was it. It was so anticlimactic. I had hoped for a real fight when I was told I was being deployed as a scout team leader, but instead all I got were more targets with no satisfaction from slaying them. Of course, my team were cheering and waving their new weapons as our pickups dropped from above.
Was this really necessary for a weapons test? Looking around at the carnage now that the adrenalin rush was over, I saw corpses in various states of mutilation scattered and splattered across the wide field that was once a blood-camp. Some of them were only hatchlings, sent in with the biggest weapons they could carry, and then smeared across rock and soil by a hurricane of bullets when they came up against us.
I shook off my sudden urge to kneel and pay respects to the fallen, and instead headed to a transport craft, which had me onboard my own ship within minutes.
“Commander, good to see you’re not injured. I thought that burster shot would have torn your armour to shreds, but I guess I was wrong.” the friendly squeaks of my new Venlil officer told me he shared no such guilt about attacking the Arxur, and I really couldn’t blame him. They had terrorised his world for centuries, and then burned his home colony to the ground once they grew bored of tormenting the defenceless fluffballs. He wanted them dead, because it was his war. We wanted them dead because…
Because what? Because you don’t like what they’re doing? Is this somehow supposed to atone for the countless atrocities your precursors committed? Is this supposed to bring some sort of cosmic forgiveness, for all the species your race tore to shreds? Or is this supposed to be your apology for what they did the the Fa’Ree I was drifting, and the crash brought on from the sudden lack of adrenalin was making it so much worse. I could feel my whole body growing weightless, and sounds became muffled and distant as memories came back again to haunt me. I remembered those tapes we were shown in school, the ones on Scion history. Our educators used them to explain why we left behind everyone, why our home burned. But the one that stuck with me was footage of a massive Scion commander, wearing a cap almost identical to the one I wore when at the helm, tormenting a defenceless fluffy rodent that was barely a fifth of his size. It was horrifying to watch, but it cemented into my brain the idea, no,
knowledge, that the old Scion ways were unforgivable crimes against all life.
The pinprick of tiny claws sinking into my forearm snapped me back to reality.
“Commander, hello, are you listening?” the Admiral was clearly frustrated, but all I could do was nod dumbly as twisted images and foggy memories swirled in my half-awake mind. “As I was saying, our tests have yielded some great results. Some fine tuning on the new rifles will be necessary, but they are very effective at reducing opponents to fine grey paste. As for ammunition, lowering the rate of fire will be necessary, as even the back-mounted belt feed can’t keep that thing running for very long, and reloading is so slow that just swapping rifles is faster, so we need more sustain. Other than that, this has been a massive success, and we’re one step closer to beating back the Arxur once and for all.”
I finally managed to force words out through my dry mouth, and croaked that I was going to go to my quarters, before passing him my helmet with the sensor data in it and heading back to my room.
I stripped the plate armour off piece by piece under the steaming water, taking care to scrub every inch clean of stains, before placing them in the bathtub of resin to seal up any scratches and reapply the coating that protected against electricity. It was a slow process, but it kept my paws and mind busy and away from the pressing questions. Finally, once the last of the heavy titanium plates was thoroughly cleansed, I let it sink in the amber goo and washed the grime and gore from my own fur. There wasn’t much to clean, as the armour gave almost complete coverage of my body, but it was still important as I didn’t want to track blood or other fluids across my room.
But as the steam and boiling water washed the filth away, those memories came back. Of that poor little creature from the tapes, played with like a toy until the commander grew bored and tossed it aside. Of my brutality with the Arxur, and how I tore a captured one to shreds with my bare paws because he laughed when I mentioned the Venlil. Of the mighty war machine that was being awakened after centuries of dormancy and brought into a galaxy utterly unprepared for it. But most of all, of the secret that the Captain could never know.
When I learned of the Federation’s crimes, I was shocked beyond belief. They tortured their own children for showing signs of a boogyman disease. They wiped entire cultures out simply for daring to eat meat. They had started this whole war, and had committed crimes just as cruel and unspeakable as any of the Arxur’s or even our own. But I could never tell anyone.
If word of such things reached the Captain, he would declare war on our supporters as well. He had no respect for diplomacy of any kind, but what scared me was that we could likely win such a pointless fight. Even without the advantage of disposable equipment, we still had the supplies to invade hundreds of worlds, and the firepower to reduce any we couldn’t reach to stardust. If the Captain knew, he would have us wipe out the whole galaxy, and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
Yet I had one option, but it wasn’t a good one.
But there’s only so long you can keep this hidden. If you strike now, you can still set this right. Wait any longer, and the Captain will stop you. I cut the water, dried off, picked up my holopad from the table, and made the call
Lets hope she picks up ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject Memory Transcription: First Mate Reyna, Scion City-Fleet
When the call came through, I was trying to unwind after a trying day. The Captain had been onboard this morning, and had dismembered an unfortunate security officer who had blocked his access to the bridge. He had all but thrown a tantrum once he got to the helm, and put two chairs through the rear wall when he found out I had reorganised the fleet into production arrangements rather than ordering raids all the time. He had even gone as far as to break the arm of the poor sap who was reading the casualty reports when he learned we lost over a hundred soldiers in our most recent battle.
So much for don’t shoot the messenger With every passing day, Denver grew more unstable and more impulsive. His last order before leaving with his squadron again was to “always have a world burning”, and demanded so under threat of being fed to the
Ahk-Venra if we disobeyed. Even his most loyal supporters were tired of this, and very sick of being under constant threat of injury or death when he was on deck.
And, through all of it, he still played favourites with me, as if he hadn’t left me to do all the work and run off to live out his fantasies. Maybe I would have taken his offer of leaving his door open last night if it was two months ago when I was new, but now I only was repulsed by the idea of spending any unnecessary time with that…
That
monster So, when one of the Commanders contacted me asking for the floor plan of the Captain’s ship and the whereabouts of our old Captain, I was more than happy to oblige. I knew exactly what he was doing this for, and decided to make an offer.
“Here’s the deal Commander; I give you all the supplies you need, and cover your ass if things go south, on one condition. I get to kill the Captain, without interference.”
He was more than happy to take the offer, and even gave me the option of using his personal favourite ripper blade for the job, which I happily took, as my own had been “borrowed” by Denver and likely lost somewhere onboard a cattle ship. It was time for some revenge.
I got to work planning my next meeting with Denver the moment he hung up, and had a complete plan before the clock on my wall read midnight.
Now all I need to do is wait -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject Memory Transcription: Captain Denver, Scion City-Fleet
The Zurulian medical fleet was hovering just off in the distance as I scanned the battlefield, searching for any survivors.
The Arxur had attacked a large shipment of medical supplies and personnel, but were too slow in disabling comms, which alerted us to their distress signals. Of course, it was a trap, but a trap set for Federation ships, not ours. In fact, these reptiles had probably never even seen our ships before, judging by the way they floundered when we dropped in.
FTL disruptors had left their energy bubbles across the system, and a million smoke trails formed a spiderweb of missile paths and railgun shots. None of it mattered though. The Arxur assault ships had been reduced to smouldering wrecks when my personal light gunship, the
Eternus, had dropped out of its jump with cannons already charged, and our fighters made swift work of any remaining frigates and bombers. When the second, larger ambush fleet had arrived, however, we found trouble. They had brought an array of huge energy weapons I had never seen before. Every Arxur ship unloaded their cannons into one satellite ship, which then redirected all of that energy in a continuous beam that was strong enough to break shields.
We had lost the
Eternus to that weapon. Its beam had broken through the shielding array and split the hull. Thankfully, it missed the core, so there was no detonation, but it had hit the bridge, life support, and engines as the beam slowly passed along the hull. A dozen Scion fighters lay in ruins around the satellite, unfortunate enough to get caught in the beam as they went in for the killing blow.
It was that moment that every Arxur had learned what a Scion’s wrath truly looked like. I had led a fighter sweep across their fleet and reduced them to nuclear smears across the fabric of spacetime, making sure to cut down every single escape ship as they left. We had sent huge boarding parties onto every Zurulian ship and hunted every last reptile with the same brutal ferocity that they showed to their prey.
Of course, the fleet was extremely grateful for their salvation, regarding our losses as minimal, as it was a fairly small ship that was lost. They had given us one of their transport frigates to carry our wounded fighters home, as well as medical supplies galore to patch our wounds. But I knew that nothing could replace this loss.
While most species could simply create a new ship to replace lost ones, Scions had no such advantage. Every fighter, every frigate, every gunship, was an irreplaceable relic from an age long gone, the knowledge of their workings destroyed three centuries ago. Losing even the
Eternus was a crippling blow, as that meant thousands of lives and hundreds of invaluable parts were now gone, snuffed out by a weapon that the Arxur could easily rebuild and spread across the galaxy.
I brought the communications link up between my ship and the
Solaris, which was sitting a few hundred lightyears away on the surface of a cleansed world. Reyna answered, looking as tired as ever. “Yes, Captain? I assume you’re calling to tell me that it was just another Arxur attack?” she was very tired of being the replacement Captain while I was gone, but there was always something that needed my personal attention. “No,” I replied, much to her surprise. “I’m calling to announce the loss of the
Eternus. The Arxur made a weapon that can break our shields and armour, and tore open the ship from nose to tail, thankfully not hitting the core. We’re returning in a commandeered Zurulian frigate, so hold your fire when you see us in orbit. While I’m on my way, I need you to gather every commander for a meeting in my quarters.”
She was staring slack-jawed, so I cut the transmission and prepped our engines for the next jump. Of course, I had to overheat my core to generate a warp bubble large enough to cover our makeshift fleet, but it was nothing my ship couldn’t handle with a bit of coaxing.
When we arrived in orbit, the gunship
Riori took the frigate onboard, while I broke atmosphere and made a landing in the starboard hangar on the
Solaris. It was only a short trip from there to my quarters, and then I was seated at the large round table surrounded by commanders.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m here to report a very concerning development in the Arxur arsenal. They appear to have created a sort of focusing device to turn ion volleys from a full fleet into a single concentrated beam. They used this against us in an ambush attack, which caused the loss of the gunship
Eternus.”
There was a chorus of gasps and muttered curses as I put my ship’s nose cam footage onto a large screen on the wall. As the video played, a single orange pinprick hit the very tip of the
Eternus, causing the shields to glow as they resisted the damage. Then, a pulse as the beam widened into its full power, and there was a shimmer across the impact area as shields gave out. The beam moved slowly across the side of the ship, hitting gun emplacements and launch tubes alike and causing smaller explosions all across the surface, until finally it stopped as the focusing lens was destroyed by a nuclear warhead knocking it out of position and into the path of a missile barrage.
“Everyone, this is no longer a leisure battle. Now, we can’t just send in small assault teams to burn outposts and disable ships. We need to stop all of our small assaults and end this war, together. I have gathered you here today, not to ask for your cooperation, not to request ships, but to instruct all of you to prepare for a full fleet assault tomorrow morning. In 23 hours, we will jump to the Arxur forge-world of Nitanka, and destroy it. No more capturing prisoners, no more mercy. We are going to send a clear message to every reptile in the galaxy, that we are not playing games anymore.” I took a deep breath as the commanders began their muttering and arguing again, before continuing.
“Every single one of you is commanding a ship that can scorch an entire system and reduce fleets to rubble, and it’s about time we made use of them. From this day forward, we work as one fleet. The Scion fleet.”
One of them stood up and slammed her fist on the table. I Recognised this commander due to her size as Mra’sha, a skilled logistics expert and true hardened warrior from our many farm-world raids. She had always been firmly with me on anything involving the Arxur, until now. “Captain, this is absurd. We lost one light gunship, and now you’re demanding we all pull back and just let the Arxur reclaim those worlds we fought tooth and claw for?” even though she was the only one saying it, I could tell that this was the general feeling of a lot of my commanders, and it needed to be addressed.
“No. I’m saying we regroup, and put an end to the Arxur once and for all. They can’t make a move on our liberated territories if we cut their command and their supply lines off. This isn’t a question of who does what, this is now a race against time. If the enemy can build enough weapons before we kill them all, it’s over for us, and probably for the Federation as well. So we’re not abandoning worlds, we’re pushing forward and finishing what we started.”
It took hours of endless debating before every commander was with me. The only one missing from the meeting was Yek’ta, who was currently on a deployment to an Arxur blood-camp in a weapons test, but I would brief him on the situation when he returned. For now, we could go without the
Etemar’s support. 27 heavy gunships and 14 cargo carriers should be more than enough to cover the
Solaris while we charged up cannons. Of course, I didn’t tell Reyna about any of this. Despite how hard she worked, I could tell she despised me for all my absence, and would likely kill me on the spot if I told her what I was planning.
Despite everything that had happened to us recently, the Scion fleet was mostly untouched. In fact, only around three hundred losses had been sustained across all of our infantry deployments. But that was all about to change now that the enemy could do real damage to us.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject Memory Transcription: Commander Yek’ta, Scion Gunship
Etemar I couldn’t sleep that night, so instead I spent hours endlessly browsing our archives. Every major ship in the fleet had a data core holding all of the knowledge that we escaped with, and being the commander of this one, I had unrestricted access to all of it. Of course, huge amounts were lost or deleted in the first generation of our journey, but there was still most of our history in here.
I dug and dug, going through endless security checks, before eventually I found what I was looking for: the file on the Fa’Ree. Before opening it, I double checked the room for any spyware, and ran a full diagnostic on my holopad just in case someone had been tracing me. Nothing came up though, so I continued.
Species Name: Fa’Ree Home World: A380N6K “Mik’Raka” Description: small, furred rodents. Average height of 108cm, average weight of 34kg. Extremely flexible, cold resistant, and resilient, with high pain tolerance. Nature: Submissive, docile, easily intimidated. Often willing to risk injury to please superior beings. Revere Scions as god-like powers. History: The Fa’Ree were a race founded in the 4th genesis fleet’s sweep across sector L in 96457. Life began as small reptiles, before Fa’Ree emerged from subterranean tunnel networks to hunt said reptiles once their planet stabilised. Once contacted by Scion diplomats and properly uplifted, the Fa’Ree were able to use advanced decryption knowledge to unlock salvaged Scion data core C-457-L, and discovered their true origins. Immediately after this, a cultural revolution brought a religious institute to power, which then began the later widespread practice of Scion worship. Following this, large colonies were established on Scion 2, before a mass migration of 97% of Fa’Ree population to Scion 1 & 2. Following the mass migration, Scion officials discovered the extreme flexibility and resilience of Fa’Ree in a medical study, which led to them being implemented as servants across Scion fleets. Most Fa’Ree were used as cooking and repair personnel, or in other less popular roles generally considered dull. Across the Scion empire, approximately 200 Fa’Ree worlds were established, yielding a total of over 3.7 trillion servants. Of particular note on the Fa’Ree is their cultural hierarchy post-migration. Fa’Ree culture was reorganised around the worship and servitude of Scions, with large facilities being constructed for the sole purpose of finding the most suitable roles for individuals. Fa’Ree were noted to be very obedient and respectful, as well as very dismissive of any injuries sustained during service. Higher ranking Fa’Ree would often have just 1 to 2 offspring per family unit, and send their young into temporary servitude once they came of age before allowing them to become leaders. This was generally considered to be a test of sorts, and only those who returned strong would be allowed to wear the traditional ruby studded robes given to royalty. There was a photo attached of a Scion diplomat standing with a trio of well-dressed Fa’Ree, with a fourth sitting on his shoulders in what looked to be a polyoxide synthetic dress, which even in the height of the empire’s technological prowess, would have cost a small fortune to manufacture. Looking closer, I could see the collar on the dress-wearing rodent’s wrist, which had a faint green glow to it. That would be the depleted uranium bracelet that was so infamous as a sign of servitude.
I felt sick just looking at the picture. Everyone looked so happy, even the poor slave that was returning from 2 years of servitude. Seeing such a vulnerable species so brainwashed, so helpless, made me want to smash this screen and never look again. But I knew this wasn’t just a history lesson. Knowing that the Scions had done such horrific cultural genocide before was one thing, but with how easily manipulated federation species were, it would likely become a repeating pattern. I couldn’t bring myself to finish the species dossier.
I flicked the screen off and closed my eyes, letting the low hum of our engines lull me into a deep sleep free from nightmares of not too long gone demons.

2023.03.31 03:35 pandaxpressss Why is he trying to make me meet by his place?

2023.03.31 03:25 lunagurl93 How to Bonnaroo, A Guide (Vol. 4)
Hi everyone, I’m late to the party this year! Every year as June approaches, I update my guides (
What You Should Wear to Bonnaroo and
How to Camp at Bonnaroo) with your comments from the previous year's posts and it has slowly grown!! I decided to compile both versions into one giant guide, and present to you:
How to Bonnaroo, a Guide Vol. 4 \**NOTE - I have only ever done GA Camping, but there are still tips for all kinds of campers. I also realized after finally returning to The Farm last year, that there are likely holes of information that need to be updated with all the changes… Help me fill those in and leave your best pro tips to be written next year!! HAPPY ROO!!*
What you should wear to Bonnaroo: First of all,
and most importantly, you should wear whatever you want to wear. People wear a variety of clothing at Bonnaroo… from rave gear, to full-on outfits, to t-shirts, to jerseys, to costumes, to toplessness. There is no right or wrong! The best recommendation is to DRESS FOR YOUR ROO. The days are long, and the weather is hot (and sometimes cold at night), there are 15+ hours of music daily and activities spread amongst miles of Farm. If you are planning to run all over and catch as many sets as possible, dress for comfort. Bring your cute outfit or two that you really want to wear for a photo, or to your favorite artist’s set, but then plan to change. Preparation really is key, but us Reddit Roovians got you, so let’s get into it!!!
PREPARE FOR ALL CONDITIONS. Pack sunscreen for the love of god, bring a hydration pack, and decide whether you want a rain jacket, poncho, or are cool with getting wet so be it. Bring a pair of sweatpants, a sweatshirt, and a long sleeve t-shirt. It can get shockingly cold at night and it’s nice to have options. At some point you’ll want to be cozy!!! Keep some warm clothes inside of your tent, then you won’t have to dig through your car trying to find them when you wake up in the middle of the night shivering.
PACKING. If you’ve planned an outfit, pack them separately to keep things quick/organized (like a gallon ziploc or Walmart sack). Overpack some practical clothes and keep them in a laundry basket. Maybe you don’t feel like wearing that planned outfit one day, maybe you get wet (rain, water slide, surprise champagne shower), maybe you get dirty and want to put on fresh clothing. Sunrise sets play until almost 5am, think about how many hours you’ll be wearing the same clothes! Bring 2-3 outfits per day, and if you can, purchase a locker! They’re a great place to store that extra outfit, sweatshirt, pair of shoes, etc. Remember, your campsite could be a 2+ mile round trip side adventure!
FOOT PROTECTION. In 2019 I walked 65 miles, and in 2022 I walked 54 miles, so you need to plan your footwear appropriately… and better yet, go above and beyond!!! Wear in your shoes and make sure they have good soles. Consider packing multiple types of shoes if you have space so you can change them. On god my favorite shoes to wear at Roo are Crocs, otherwise hiking boots or tennis shoes. A pair of flip-flops for mornings at camp are also key! Shoe inserts are another option you can look into. Pack band-aids, moleskin, cleaning/treating supplies, and thick socks (2 pairs per day). Be a pro, don’t wait to protect your feet until the damage is already done, I legit allocate 15mins of my morning to doctoring them. Med Tents will also give you band-aids and cleaning supplies!! PRO TIP: pack a designated feet soaking bowl and bring some epsom salt and/or do a ice water soak with that cooler water you’re about to dump! You can also freeze a canned good/water bottle and roll that under your foot #treatyofeet
EAR PROTECTION. Please wear it, please!!! There are so many brands now that make quality earplugs in a range of affordability. They do not drown out sound, I actually think they make it better. I use
Eargasms.
PREPARE FOR CHAFING. Ladies, wear some biker shorts or fishnets. Gentlemen, pack that gold bond. Other recommendations: Body Glide and Boundreaux’s Butt Paste (a diaper rash cream that you can “
slather on the inside of your thighs and walk in cool comfort”).
MASKS. Back in the day, the experts knew to wear a mask (or bandana) walking around Bonnaroo. There is seriously so much dust being kicked around, you’ll have a sore throat by day 3 and black boogers every night. The Other Stage was a dust storm by Sunday… bring something to cover your mouth, or be cool with swallowing mouthfuls of dirt.
LONG HAIR. I was unprepared to deal with my hair at my first Bonnaroo. It was knotted and thrown up in a bun by Saturday and Sunday. Pack some detangler, don’t forget a brush, maybe bring a small one for your backpack, and force yourself to deal with it before it gets worse. Don’t be afraid to ask someone to braid your hair around camp, someone would be delighted to do it for you! Keep a hair tie on your wrist at all times and extras in your fanny pack… one time a girl took a bobby pin out of her own hair for me haha! Fellas, if you have long hair, bring a sweatband.
Listen, don’t get me wrong… everyone at Bonnaroo looks ~cute as hell~ but the tenured attendees aren’t treating it like a fashion show, especially if they’re camping. Bring your favorite clothing… pack whatever brings you comfort. Your favorite t-shirt or Hawaiian shirt, anything with a trippy pattern, biker shorts and a bralette, and you’ll be good to go I promise! If you’re interested in purchasing Rave attire… check for local shops on Etsy and/or TikTok, shop at thrift stores for unique finds or look on Amazon! There are bigger brands like iHeartRaves and Dolls Kill, too.
While we’re at it, let’s knockout Showers & Bathrooms...
SHOWERING. You have a couple of options here:
- TIER 1 - Pay for a shower. Showers are available at most PLAZA locations and are in private stalls. They cost $10 during peak hours and $5 during “happy hour” (unless they change the pricing). For those that have been keeping up, I finally paid for my first (and second) shower at Bonnaroo y’all… and I have to say, both were totally worth it. I stomped my hungover ass over there with a caddy of supplies and floated my way back to camp wrapped in a towel with a hair turban thrown on, and it was glorious.
- TIER 2 - Buy a portable shower to set-up at camp. Here are basic, medium, pro examples of portable showers. This will require fetching water, or if you have space, bring gallons of water with you. They are cheap and if you keep them on the roof of your car, they will keep warm throughout the day for showers. You can also use these to brush your teeth and wash your hands without wasting your drinking water!
- Tier 3 - Take an Italian shower… body wipes, face wipes, vagina wipes (yes), deodorant, dry shampoo, etc. It gets the job done, isn’t time consuming, and no one can tell the difference between today’s and yesterday’s dirt.
A WORD ABOUT NUDITY. Just be considerate about it, lol. Swimsuits are an option if you’re worried, which are honestly comfortable to hang out in at camp when it’s hot AF, but it’s easier said than done to wiggle into a leotard behind a tapestry flowing with the wind.
GOING TO THE BATHROOM. I can’t have fun until I know I can safely take a shit, ok? It is what it is.
Last year there were porta potties that had metal doors and flushed near the campgrounds. They were still hot, but nicer than regular porta potties. However, they always had longer lines in the morning because they’re in more populous locations. If you can muster up the regular ole porta potty, I didn’t think they were too bad last year, but that could’ve been a low attendance thing. PRO TIP - bring your own roll of toilet paper and wet wipes, and don’t be afraid to yell out for TP if you need it… been there, done that!
In 2019 there were wristbands you could buy to access a regularly cleaned, better-than-a-normal-porta-potty porta potty, with a sink and air conditioning but I didn’t notice them in 2022? If you do see them, snag a wristband at the beginning of the weekend to squeeze every penny! This was a great place to wash your face and take care of other hygiene-related items, but they did have 3 stalls so aren’t entirely private.
In Centeroo, you’re looking at the same options here, but the key is to get familiar with all the bathrooms as your preferences and priorities will ebb and flow in this regard. Are you peeing for the second time during a set because you chugged a water or are you needing to take a minute and contemplate life? You don’t want to be frantic when the spicy pie hits… but you also don’t need to worry about letting everyone in line know that you’re going to shit your pants if you don’t get on a toilet ASAP, because everyone will gladly let you go… again, been there, done that (and you can also sneak in through the back if needed). For the love of god, please make sure the bathrooms in the back are taken. You can politely check if there are feet in a stall, most of the time 25% of stalls are unused and we’re standing there for no reason.
Last year the Where in the Woods bathrooms were DISGUSTING, as in I could smell them from 20 feet away, and I ended up walking to the closet camp bathrooms. Something to keep in mind but hopefully we see some improvement.
FINALLY, a pro tip for my ladies… I highly suggest purchasing some funnels, they changed my life. Just trust me on this one! There are one-time use and reusable options, and I use these:
Pee Buddy. Fuck walking to the bathroom everytime you need to pee at camp once you’ve broken the seal, and tbh, once you get comfortable, fuck sitting on a porta potty at all when avoidable. These knees ain't made for squatting no more.
How to camp at Bonnaroo: If you’re worried about camping,
don’t be, it’s a big part of the Bonnaroo experience and fun! You can do it!!!
GET YOUR MIND RIGHT. In 2019 I waited in the Hellsboro line for 16 hrs and got a less-than-desirable-camping-location, and I was not happy about it. BUT it turned out to be quiet, close to the bathrooms (but not too close), and we somehow managed to get an end-of-row spot. In 2022 I waited in NO car line, had a close location, and great neighbors… but it was a 120-degree sweltering heatwave, and legit still in the 90’s going to sleep for two days. We hunkered down under the canopy, wore swimsuits, played games and got through it. Your neighbors will take care of you, and you’ll take care of them… maybe you won’t interact at all. You’ll land where you’re meant to be, go into it with that mindset. Perhaps you’re camped by a “DJ” who blasts music all night, but once the weekend is said and done, it’ll all be a part of your beautiful memories and your “that one time, at Bonaroo'' stories, so embrace the adversities and go with the flow.
GET TO KNOW THE AREA AROUND YOUR CAMPGROUND. Is there a plaza close by? What amenities are offered there? Where are the closest bathrooms? Is there food nearby? Being familiar with your camp surroundings early on will set you up for success. It is especially important to know your pod number and to define some landmarks that can help find your campsite/row (unique flag, tapestry, etc.)
SAFETY MEASUREMENTS. Introduce yourself to your neighbors. Always keep your valuables locked in your car when you aren’t at camp, and bring an extra set of keys with you! If you are participating in “ACTIVITIES,” be weary of your surroundings and use good judgment.
BARE MINIMUM NEEDS - Canopy. You NEED shade, and heavy duty stakes to hold it down… we don’t want that bitch floating away, AND IT WILL. Use a rubber mallet to get those stakes deep in the ground. There has been debate on whether mallets are allowed, but I’ve never had an issue getting mine in?
- Canopy Walls. This provides extra shade and privacy when needed. A lot of people use sheets or tapestries. You can also use shower curtains (the rings allow you to open/close them as you please).
- Sleeping Arrangements. I always use a tent (don’t forget your tent roof, poles, and stakes!), with an air mattress, fitted sheet, pillow, and blankets. HOWEVER, lots of people are quick to share that a cot or hammock are much breezier options as it does tend to get stuffy in your tent once the sun comes up. If you choose to go the cot/hammock route, make sure you bring warm clothes or a blanket in case it gets cold at night. If you are balling on a budget, I’ve known people to take their hammocks to The Grove and sleep. I’m a late night raver, so I expect to get 5 solid hours of sleep each night, and then usually take a power nap somewhere shady inside of Centeroo!
The weekend will be long, but if you have these items, you can survive! The
OZARK brand from Walmart is durable and affordable if you need any of them. Consider practicing your set-up if you aren’t already comfortable setting up a canopy and tent… if you need help, ask your neighbors!
OTHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS - Tarps (to keep dirt away or to keep your stuff dry)
- Flashlights (your campsite will be really dark at night)
- A portable fan with extra batteries (I have THIS one)
- Beach chairs, or something else to sit on, and a table.
- Squishy ear plugs that are comfortable to sleep in!
- A power inverter (only turn your car on when needed and be mindful of carbon monoxide poisoning!)
- A Bluetooth speaker to play some relaxing tunes at a low volume (because we’re respectable people) in your tent to help drown out noise and bust it out during the day for entertainment while you get ready!
COOLERS & COOKING/FOOD. Unless camping is a larger part of your experience, stick to the basics when it comes to cooking. Breakfast and late-night snacks are the most practical to cook, and cooking at the beginning of the weekend to save money. You most likely won’t want to return to camp for lunch and there’s so many yummy vendors to try out!!!
Make sure everything you bring is high in protein or has nutritional value. Consider your perishables or plan to eat them early in the weekend. Handle as much preparation as possible beforehand… chop everything, season everything, mix everything. Pre-crack your eggs into a bottle so you don’t have to worry about them breaking! Protect your food with sealable containers, or vacuum seal it, so cooler water doesn’t ruin your food.
I have
THIS portable stove top that uses butane, and pack a cast iron, nonstick skillet, and utensils to get the job done.
Things that are pre-made, like Uncrustables (PB&J) and Spaghetti O’s (only needs to be warmed) will save you time, and snacks like Cliff Bars or Beef Jerky are filling. If possible, use pre-cooked meals like packaged grilled chicken or salami to throw in a wrap or sandwich, you can pre-shred some rotisserie chicken too! Bags of frozen veggies are easy to heat up or bring bags or raw veggies and individual hummus packets for a fresh snack. Peanut butter is easy to put on anything. Collect sauce packets from restaurants – they are easier to bring than entire bottles, plus glass isn’t allowed inside!
Don’t forget to clean-up with… dish towels, Clorox wipes, extra water, etc. and beware of ants!!! Take out your trash daily.
Let’s talk about coolers… do some preliminary work so you don’t waste what you bring, and consider using multiple coolers if you have space. Perhaps a large/small cooler, or a food cooler and a drink cooler, as your drink cooler is likely to be opened more and it’s more critical to keep your food cold. Pre-chill your cooler the night before you leave with a bag of ice, and then add new ice with your food/drinks (which should all be cool/cold/frozen beforehand, too). A lot of people recommend using dry ice, but be sure you know how to handle it.
A word about alcohol: you can’t carry alcohol into Centeroo, but at camp each individual may bring in 2 cases of beer, 1.75 liter of hard liquor, and 2 boxes of wine. No kegs are allowed and no glass whatsoever. Also, the Craft Beer Exchange is really fun if that’s your thing!!!
BRING PLENTY OF HYDRATION.
Liquid IVs are great and Pedialyte is a fan favorite, although I can’t stand the thickness of it, haha.
CONCLUSION. If you made it this far, thanks for reading, and if you’re feeling intimated, just remember… This post is 4-years of experience, written in my comedic style with other commenter’s pro tips weaved into my personal stories. No matter how much you plan, something unexpected you’re unprepared for will happen, and you’ll deal with it. Don’t be fooled, we’re all out there just trying to survive and having the best time of our lives!!!

2023.03.31 02:50 wankybollocks Strut tower mounting points - should I paint them?
| A bodge I put together failed, so I am improving it. It's a Citroen Berlingo lifted by polyurethane donuts over the struts, plus bespoke shock extenders. The shoulders on the extensions sit 5mm higher than standard (because I thought it would be better for strength & castor angle) due to the internal thread at 25mm flush with the strut top mounts, whilst still being at 30mm externally as per the spacing donuts I'm whittling a pair of steering cups off a DS4 into replacement washers, the yellow ones. These will go under the standard footed rubber mounting cups, as my previous bodge only more substantial, and make them work as standard, for intents and purposes Before I put them back together, should I bother with a lick of paint around where the steering cups sit - caked as they are perpetually in silicone grease? This spot is heavily sheltered by the scuttle, but since it was worn down to the metal by the failed rubber on the previous bodge, I'm not sure. There's ever so many years of life left in this thing, it's a 2012 with only 31000 on it. It hasn't rusted without paint under English skies, but wouldn't it just get worn away even if I did? 2023.03.31 02:48 its_vf Former AFLW players, WAFLW stars and code hoppers: Western Australia’s top draft prospects
https://www.codesports.com.au/afl/aflw/former-aflw-players-waflw-stars-and-code-hoppers-western-australias-top-draft-prospects/news-story/f36c3b90d4dac1241eec6eb9517b7e1a Several WAFLW stars are set to have their dreams realised in this year’s AFLW draft.
Unlike previous drafts, Tuesday’s ballot has been called a supplementary draft and will feature overlooked, mature-age talent from previous pools. Players are also able to nominate for a national draft pool for the first time, giving themselves a greater chance of realising their dreams, or opt to stay local and select Western Australia.
Delisted AFLW players, WAFLW stars and some smokies, who have caught the eye of clubs, are among the host of hopefuls to put their names forward with strong starts to the season.
These are the WA players to watch out for at Tuesday’s draft.
Claremont
Jasmin Stewart: A familiar name in AFLW circles after playing 22 games for Fremantle, Stewart is pursuing a second chance at the top level. The midfieldeforward has dominated for Claremont since stepping away from AFLW last year, winning the Lou Knitter medal in the Tigers’ grand final victory over East Fremantle. Has nominated for the national draft but been linked to South Australia, largely Port Adelaide.
Matilda Dyke: The key position talent has been there or thereabouts for the past few seasons but has recently found her place in the ruck. Was a train-on at West Coast, where she was told her kicking needed work, so she’s poured time and effort into that area. She won’t be a dominant AFLW ruck but Dyke possesses a great leap and her work around the ground is like having another midfielder.
Mackenzie Webb: The key defender was a train-on at Fremantle last season and even elevated to emergency at one point when the Dockers were short on players. While Webb has missed a few games with a minor knee injury, the Tigers are taking a precautionary approach given her importance to the WA U18 squad.
Matilda Sergeant: The reliable defender is seeking a second chance after she was delisted by Fremantle at the end of last season following several injury interrupted years. Even while injured, Sergeant earnt plenty of off-field praise for her attitude and commitment to the team. She’s set to return to Claremont this weekend in one last bid to impress an eastern-states suitor ahead of Tuesday’s draft.
Claire Ortlepp: Could prove a smoky pick for any club in need of a defender. She’s been unbeatable in the opening rounds of the season and won 25 disposals last weekend against Swan Districts.
Jayme Harken: The established midfielder is enjoying life at Claremont after making the switch from Subiaco in the off-season. Harken has averaged 21 disposals across the opening three rounds and is set to test the waters in the national draft.
East Fremantle
Ashleigh Gomes: The Sharks’ captain made her AFLW debut last season after earning a late-call up on West Coast’s list as an injury replacement player. The inside midfielder finished second in the Dhara Kerr medal last year and now knows what it takes to play at the next level.
Jae Flynn: The hardworking midfielder spent last AFLW season as a train-on at Fremantle and was even elevated to an emergency late in the season. After spending last season in defence, the quick and agile Flynn has found a home on the wing. A chance to end up at the Dockers.
Amber Kinnane: Another one to spend last season at Fremantle as a train-on, the tough midfielder has come a long way in the past two seasons. A dynamic hunter of the footy.
Chloe Reilly: A few years ago, the forward was a member of WA’s U18 squad and being spoken about as a draft contender. After a year-long battle with shin splints, Reilly is back playing senior football at East Fremantle. She’s kicked 2.6 in the opening three rounds but still has a desire to play at the next level.
Mylee Leitch: A member of WA’s state academy side in 2021, Leitch has continued to press her draft claims with some strong senior form at the Sharks. While she’s not a high accumulator, the 19-year-old always makes something happen when she’s got the footy.
Emmelie Fiedler: The 20-year-old has emerged as somewhat of a draft smoky after a strong start to the season for the Sharks. After graduating from the Perth Football League, Fiedler played mostly reserves last season but she’s led the ruck so far this year and covers the ground well.
East Perth
Ruby Burgess: The young and emerging ruck won 20 hitouts on the weekend and has also improved her marking power as she learns how to have an impact up forward. Her ruck craft is improving by the game and she found several teammates on the run against Peel.
Peel Thunder
Jade Briggs: The 20-year-old midfieldeforward has spent time at Fremantle as a train-on in the past. Boasts a booming left foot, competes in the air and at ground level and is ultimately a team player.
Chloe Wrigley: Clubs looking for midfield grunt, look no further. Wrigley is a tackling machine and laid an incredible 17 to go with 23 touches in round three of the WAFLW. A dual-premiership player for Peel, Wrigley won the Lou Knitter medal for best on ground in the 2020 decider and has been a train-on at both Fremantle and West Coast.
South Fremantle
Ariana Hetherington: A former state basketballer and rugby player, the AFLW is next on Hetherington’s to-do list. She’s raw but got a fantastic build for footy. The ruck is leading WAFLW hitouts and has attracted interest from Fremantle.
Trinity Brown: The Eaton product made her league debut last year for Peel Thunder before making the switch to the Bulldogs in 2023. At least one club is tracking the defender’s progress but she may need more time to pitch her case.
Tahleah Mulder: Mulder has joined the Bulldogs this year from amateur outfit Piara Waters after finishing in the top three of the league best and fairest. The 21-year-old midfielder is hard at the football, great with second efforts and developing at a rapid rate.
Swan Districts
Ruby Mahony: The Bunbury product has impressed since making her WAFLW debut last year to the point she was named as a train-on at Fremantle. The tough midfielder attracted some interest last time around and won Swan Districts’ rookie of the year award but her kicking remains a question mark.
Jess Cox: The Swans captain has forged a reputation as a tough, inside midfielder. Boasts one of the stronger frames in the competition and can also hit targets by foot. Has nominated for the national draft.
Madizen Wilkins: The dashing defender was the lucky train-on called upon to debut for the injury-hit Dockers last season, delaying a planned holiday to Hawaii to make her dream a reality. Wilkins was a strong chance to get officially listed by Fremantle in the one-off supplementary draft but her chances have taken a hit after she broke her arm in round one.
Joanne Cregg: There’s some rumblings at the Lions that the mature-age Irishwoman could follow in the footsteps of Amy Mulholland and join Fremantle. After also starting her career at Wembley in the Perth Football League, Cregg has forced her way into Subiaco’s midfield and started the season in strong fashion with her Gaelic background coming to the fore.
Tarni Golisano: The Subiaco captain knows what it takes to play at the top level, having played four games for Fremantle in its inaugural season. Still only 26, she’s been a consistent ball winner for the Lions
Tess Lyons: In just her second year of WAFLW football after working her way up from PFL club University, Lyons is one of the best tap rucks in the league. Kicking still a question but is athletic and powerful.
West Perth
Grace Betti: The former futsal player has made a huge improvement in her first two seasons at WAFLW level. The 21-year-old was a train-on for West Coast last year. Has huge upside and her evasiveness and vision are a standout.
Bianca Webb: The 21-year-old midfielder spent four AFLW seasons at Fremantle, playing 19 games before she was delisted at the end of season seven. Has made a much welcomed return to West Perth, where she is helping mentor the next generation of Falcons. Hoping to revive her AFLW dream in the national draft.
Jess Roper: An honest lockdown defender, Roper never gives her opposition an easy look. Her ability to turn defence into offence earnt her a train-on stint at Fremantle and her strong form has continued in 2023. Height could be a question mark.
Jeevna Heer: Another to earn a train-on stint at Fremantle last season, Heer is athletic, quick and tall. She is one of the Falcons’ best runners but her slight frame could hurt her chances.
Emily Bennett: The reliable defender was delisted by West Coast at the conclusion of season seven after six games. Has since joined forces with the Falcons but has put her hand uMup for the national draft. Is good on the rebound.

2023.03.31 02:28 cleargargo What major should I choose between these four?
I apologize in advance for this extremely long post; I am using it both as a place to vent my frustrations and a place to hear feedback. Thank you. I've been in college for about a semester and a half now (technically a lot longer, but I dropped out for 2 semesters due to the whole COVID thing.) I'm back in, I did really good my first semester back and I'm doing pretty good this semester too, but I feel I'm at a crossroads.
I've gotten as many "general" classes done as possible (including calc 1 & 2, which aren't necessarily needed.) Every class I've taken thus far will apply to just about any major I choose. Now, as I stare at the registration website for this summer semester, I realize I can't postpone this decision any longer. I have to choose what I want to focus on now. Whatever I choose, it won't be applicable to the other majors I'm interested in should I change my mind later, so I don't want to change my mind, and I don't want to postpone this any longer.
I've narrowed down a huge list of interests down to four very different interests. I don't care about the money, I don't care about the costs, I don't care about the difficulty, I don't care about the time, and I don't care about the social standing. At minimum though, the major has to get me a job related to it, even if it isn't well-paying. I will say I am interested in getting at least a masters in all of these majors (one of them is a doctorate though,) so there isn't a significant difference in the time I'll spend in it. I merely care about choosing a future career that best suits me, even if it means losing out on the other interests. I guess I'm looking for the "closest" fit that'll keep me happy and make me proud to say I am a ______!
For an idea of what I'm like, I'm someone who is quite good at math, science, and art. No matter what I choose, I won't be struggling with the course content. Although I'm good at all these things, I always find myself needing a creative outlet no matter what I do. I have to draw, I have to write, I have to sculpt, I have to program, I have to
create something. I think that is a theme common among the majors I am listing. No matter what I do, I want to make something, and I want the skills I obtain in school to allow me to make things. It doesn't matter if the math is headache-inducing, if the science is confusing, or if the major is time-consuming; I just want the ability to create
something, and all of the majors I'm considering grant me the tools to do so in some capacity.
Okay, so finally the four majors I'm trying to decide between, in no particular order, are:
- Computer Science
- I've actually known how to program for many years now, since I was in middle school believe it or not. I think that's the main reason I've gravitated towards this major at all. I just happen to be pretty good at it. I used to always want to be a video game designer since I was in at least 5th grade, but I've ultimately discovered I just like making things in general. Computer science therefore is just a tool to me. I have an interest in actual computer science beyond programming, especially things like mechanical computers, analog computers, and all these other weird non-electrical ways to calculate things, but ultimately, I see this major as a pathway to programming regular old computers, and I don't necessarily care about the theory behind programming computers.
- I think this one is set apart from the other majors I've listed because I've already had experience with it, and I already know how to use it. I fear that in choosing this major, however, I subject myself to boring virtual creations to be used by some business that I will never physically see. The creations of these other majors are tangible, but I don't think I really care about virtual creations, despite how many things I've made over the years on a computer.
- This major would be by far the easiest on the list for me. The math is super easy compared to engineering, the workload is much smaller compared to architecture, and the length of schooling is far shorter than pharmacy. It's the easy, and I suspect, lazy path. I worry the job after the degree would be the worst part of this major.
- Electrical Engineering
- Despite listing computer science before this one, I am not interested in Electrical Engineering because of computers. In fact, were I to do this degree I'd probably focus my masters in power. I outright love electricity, I love what it contributes to us as a society, and I love everything it can do. Should I take this path though, I don't really care about the computers I can make (that's what computer engineers are for, I feel,) what I really like is that I can create things with electricity. Maybe that's a big power distribution grid, or maybe that's something as tiny as the circuits in a phone. It doesn't really matter to me, but I do love being able to create something using electricity, especially because electricity actually does things.
- Between all of these majors, this one is unique to me because it offers an opportunity to create "dynamic" things. The creations of architecture are static, the creations of computer science are virtual, and the creations of pharmacy are volatile. Only Electrical Engineering allows me to make things which actually do things in the physical world, and yet it's like black magic. It's unbelievable to me what electricity can do and is why I am so interested in learning about it.
- The downside here is probably how theoretical electricity ultimately is. Sure, circuits and power grids are really cool, but the bulk of this major is a crap ton of linear algebra, differential equations, and calculus in an attempt to model electromagnetism. I am capable of it, but it would be disingenuous to claim that I'm interested in mathematical models. Kinda seems to have the same "virtual" problem that I have with computer science, where what I learn isn't quite so physical. I hope that the job ends up being a lot more design than theory at least.
- Architecture (technically pre-architecture for the bachelor's.)
- This is a recent one for me, but one that I've really warmed up to. I love creating things, and this major is exactly that. While other artistic majors instill in me a fear of not having a job when it's all over, I am confident that architecture would provide me a career to use the skills I've learned. I love that I get to see what I design in real life, in full scale, and that I could even step foot inside and experience what I've imagined. I like that the creations of architecture aren't just creative, they are functional. Although architecture doesn't seem to share the dynamic nature of electricity, there is still function in the static constructions of an architect. I also believe that what I would learn in architecture school would serve me well in my other hobbies, allowing me to create intricate buildings in my video games, create drawings for my books, and just generally instill in me the knowledge of how to create a three-dimensional object to real-life scale. That alone is an extremely valuable skill I don't really have.
- This major is particularly interesting to me because it allows me to directly apply my creativity. The other majors rely on the instructions of others to create, but architecture allows a much greater degree of freedom in creativity. I think it only requires the guidelines of others, not necessarily their commands. I won't be seeing such freedom in the other majors.
- The main downside here might sound weird, but I dislike how subjective this major is. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Pharmacy rely on cold hard facts. Architecture is completely subjective, and there isn't an obvious right answer to calculate out. I think I like how the other majors give me answers via math, but I can see that architects don't and can't really do that. I also fear that the subjective nature of architecture might lead to a painful experience in school, because I might not create what the professor likes (a problem I always encountered in high school and middle school art classes.) I am considering this major anyways, because I'd like to think that there are right and wrong answers in architecture.
- Pharmacy (taking pre-reqs towards applying to a PharmD program)
- Okay, this one is going to be weird. It certainly stands out from the last three. I have this here because of serendipity. It seems that so far in my adult life, I keep finding myself in a pharmacy career against all odds and by sheer luck, as if it's the universe itself trying to force me into it. I admit, I used to never consider this career or anything in healthcare because I feel I don't have the skills necessary to take care of another human being like this. It just kind of occurred to me that maybe this is a decent path for me to take, as the universe seems to want me to do. I will also say this would make my parents the happiest (not that their opinion dictates my decisions, merely that it is an upside.) I love chemistry, I love pharmaceuticals, and I love working as a pharmacy technician (my current job and my job for the last 2 years.) However, a pharmacy technician is not a pharmacist, nor will I ever get to experience what being a pharmacist is like until I am one, so I fear that I am misplacing my interesting in being a pharmacy technician in an interest in pharmacy.
- The best thing about this "major" for me are the drugs I'd learn about, what they do, and their preparation... if only preparation and compounding was what a pharmacist actually did. A pharmacist mostly verifies all the stuff the technicians do, so although I'll be at the peak of education in the job I love, maybe verifying and watching other people do what I like isn't what I want. Or, perhaps, I could do this anyways and open up a compounding pharmacy, or even go into pharmaceutical sciences and research. I'm not sure if that's realistic though.
- The worst thing about this "major" is the lack of guarantees. There is no guarantee I'll get into pharmacy school. Should I fail, all I would have to show for it is a biochemistry, biology, or chemistry degree, and I will tell you now that I have experienced the jobs those degrees get, and I don't want them. I would be terrified of dedicating myself to obtaining this degree. I already have four Fs on my transcript (due to dropping out during COVID,) and I'd have to absolutely excel to even make the GPA cut-off. It's a similar issue for the other majors, but at least I'd have some degrees to show for it. I have nothing if I fail here, while the other majors provide me a degree each step of the way. This degree is a gamble to me.
And finally, I'd like to mention all the majors I know I
don't like. I don't like any other form of engineering (including mechanical, civil, computer, and chemical,) because I simply don't care about what they create (this even includes civil, because I would ultimately prefer to be the architect that gets told my design is impossible by the engineers; and mechanical, because I've taken mechanical engineering classes and didn't really like it.) I don't like biochemistry, chemistry, or biology as a major; I absolutely dislike biology classes, and the jobs I've had in laboratories so far have been absolutely terrible. I also don't like any art majors (especially English,) ultimately because they don't offer an obvious job at the end of the path, and especially because of the subjective nature of the subject.
Thanks so much if you made it this far. Please, let me know what you think or offer alternatives if you see one that would better encompass what I love.
TL;DR: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Pharmacy, or Architecture: pick one.

2023.03.31 02:20 CornSquashBeans A Social Star in a World of Loners: Part 27
Memory transcription subject: “Senior” Hunter Idokam Date [standardized human time]: November 6, 2136 “Surprising.” the human named Elena declared.
“What is?” I asked.
“You are. I’ve been pulling pellets out of you and stitching up your wounds and you haven’t even said anything.” Elena declared.
“To complain about pain is to be weak. I am no weakling.” I stated as she shoved the needle beneath more raw flesh.
“Hmm. So you’re the type to say that pain is weakness leaving the body?” she asked.
“Yes, I would say that I find that statement agreeable.” I declared.
“Ha! I guess if you were human then, you’d probably be a gym bro. That, or a masochist.” Elena chided.
“I do not enjoy pain. I merely see it as something to not respond to. Complaining about pain only shows that one is weak for being unable to work through it.” I rabbled.
The human grabbed a gray plastic bottle from her medical kit. It was clearly disinfectant of some kind. The smell was noxious and filled the air as soon as she uncapped it. She moved it towards my wounds and I did not struggle.
“I know, I know, pain is weakness and you’re Senator Armstrong, but still, this might hurt a little. Just warning you.” Elena cautioned.
The toxic mixture poured over my scales and flesh quickly. The woman worked carefully as to not waste any of the precious mixture. I tried to keep a straight face, but even I winced a little as the ethanol bubbled and cured me of any infections. Slowly, she had covered every wound and wiped it down with a watered gauze pad.
“Okay. Now you should get that under some water. Go wash yourself, and please, try not to leave any blood laying in the tub.” Elena commanded.
She pointed towards an opened doorway to which I went quickly. She followed behind with a towel to clean my blood off the floors. I found it very curious that they would dislike blood so much, but I chocked it up to be another bit of preylike attitude within the humans. I reached for the door and opened it and she wiped up a final drop. I sealed myself inside quickly after before reaching for a light switch.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The room inside was colored a pearly white and was adorned with porcelain features rather than metal. It was ridiculous to use such delicate materials for sinks and bathtubs, but the humans did anyway because of their decadence. They wanted beauty over utility and it showed in many of their ways of life.
Carefully, I planted myself into the tub and closed the glass door attached to it. The controls were simplistic with two colors to represent both cold and hot. I mistook one for the other and received a blast of boiling water as I tried to turn it on. I was glad to not be seen because that sudden shock did actually make me wince in annoyance. With a small amount of fiddling, I managed to put the water at an appreciable temperature. Though I feared that embracing human decadence would make me weak, I gave in regardless once I knew that hot water wasn’t a rarity for them. It felt soothing running down my scales.
Even through the pain, I managed to relax a little bit. Blood ran down into the floor drain, slowly fading until the bleeding slowed. I sat down onto the bench built into the tub and started thinking as I waited for the red to fade into clear water.
Paraphrases and summaries of the words that the elder human had said to me kept echoing in my head. He had proven his point that empathy was not a weakness as I had thought before. He and his grouping had nearly killed me and they did it out of hate fueled by their love for their leader or perhaps for each other. The idea felt strange to me. That empathy could make someone a better hunter went against everything that the Dominion had taught me, yet I knew it to be true that humans were good hunters because of their empathy. They coordinated and worked with each other in ways that almost no Arxur could.
The only Arxur I had ever seen do anything similar were my own charges. My prey minded hunters. Doubt was seeded into my head as I succumbed to the knowledge that I was perhaps wrong to consider them weak for their empathy. They were not all truly weak. They were merely different and I failed to see it. My empaths would have been great hunters, great pack hunters, and I took that from them. I had taken their honor and prevented them from bringing honor to the Dominion. I felt shame from the realization of my actions and their consequences.
Perhaps the alphas were right to strip me of my rank. It was my failure as a leader that had turned good hunters into corpses. With my lack of consideration for their pack hunting nature, I had failed to utilize them.
I laughed a little at the thought. The very realization that it was not only myself that was wrong, but also our entire system. Empaths were simply a different branch of predators. So long as they had the same sapient soul, they were equal. Josak and his pack mates were equal hunters and so were the humans. In the end, it did not even make sense for me to be hunting him. Truly, the only reason I was was for my own honor. My own selfish desires and lust for a name. My bounty was not the traitor to our people, I was, in a way.
Laughter burst out, most of the noise was drowned out by running water, but the humans outside still heard me.
“Arxur, you good?” Steven yelled from the halls.
“Fine, Steven. I have simply come to a realization.” I bellowed.
“Huh. Okay. Well hurry up and get out. I gotta use it. You can tell me about your realization once we’re both out.” Steven declared.
“Yes, that sounds good. I will be out soon.” I responded.
I looked down at the water to see that it was mostly clear. My wounds were sealing up for the most part. The water still felt entrancing, but I knew I had to leave eventually, even if I was no longer sure about what lay ahead.
Slowly, I rose out of the ceramic box and pulled myself back into the room. I made sure to run the water a little longer to wash out any blood before turning it off. I did not wish to offend the humans after seeing that they were much more capable of violence than I had originally thought. I jumped a little when I saw an Arxur in a reflective glass pane. It seemed to jump between the faces of my former underlings until it eventually settled on my own. Still, I was logical. It was simply that I wasn’t used to seeing my own reflection.
Without a heating bed to dry my scales, I had to settle for a cleanly cut square of cloth that was folded on the bathroom counter. I quickly dried myself and hung it up over a metal rod where others were similarly held. Walking outside, Steven was impatiently tapping his foot to the ground.
“Goddamn. It’s about time.” he complained.
“I was told to not leave the room a mess. I was following the orders of your mate.” I replied.
“Oh, well okay then. I understand entirely. I fear her wrath too.” He chuckled.
“I do not fear her wrath. I simply wish to not disrespect the home of a fellow predator.” I stated.
“Whatever you say, Arxur. All I’m saying is that you should fear her wrath. Keep that one close in mind.” Steven retorted.
“I suppose I will then, human.” I said as I left him to his unsavory business.
Returning to the room where Elena had treated my wounds, I found bandages sitting next to the chair I had sat in, but no human in sight. Not wanting to waste time, I sat down and started wrapping them around my wounds myself. Elena walked in with a tray carrying two steaming cups as I did. One cup was metallic and had a handle that jutted out. Another was small and ceramic just like the bathroom.
“Oh. I could’ve done that for you.” she said as she placed the tray onto a side table. Both cups gave off different smells. One smelled of rancid boiled plants while the other smelled of a deliciously meaty flavor.
“You were not here, so I decided to do it on my own. Now, may I ask, what is that delicious aroma?” I inquired.
“Well, first, don’t get snappy with me. My husband is right to say that you should fear me just a bit. Second, a little pick me up for you. Beef stock and bones. I think it should be digestible for a carnivore like you.” Elena declared.
“Beef?” I asked.
“Uhh, hmm. Beef is a meat. We humans grow it in labs now, but it originally came from big grass munchers that we call cows.” Elena explained.
“So some humans still keep these cows for butchery? You are not all weaklings?” I asked.
“Ehh, not really. Most people now just keep em as pets or for kicks. A select few farms grow them for meat, but that meat’s only for the richest clientele. Everyone else is satisfied with lab grown shlop.” Elena laughed.
I grumbled. She had gotten my hopes up that perhaps humans were a little more predatory than they let on.
I continued trying to bandage myself while intensely staring at the drink on the tray. Eventually, I reached a point where I could no longer apply the bandages simply due to how awkward the angle was. Regrettably, I was once again forced to realize the advantages of empathy and working together.
“Human, Elena, may I ask for your help. I cannot bandage these areas.” I said, pointing to the remaining wounds.
“Sure, and btdubs, can I ask what exactly your name is, Mr. Arksir?” Elena asked.
“Give me the drink if you want that answer.” I responded.
“Well not with that attitude. Say please, brat.” She chided.
“Uhh, okay. Please.” I said with confusion.
“Alright, you clearly don’t know what please means, but here. Enjoy. Now, what’s your name?” she asked as I grabbed the drink from her.
I gulped down a swig of the material and examined the taste. Truly, it was rather delicious. It was a curious idea to water down a meal into a soup like they had done, but as I thought about it, it seemed rather ingenious. The water would make the meal more filling even if it didn’t add nutritional value to it. Incredibly intelligent on their parts.
“Idokam.” I muttered.
“Idokam? That’s your name? Sounds weird.” she giggled.
“It is my name. It is only weird because it is alien to your species. To mine, it is just another name.” I explained.
“Uh huh. So, how do you like the broth?” she asked.
“Actually, I rather enjoy it. Still, is it not wasteful to grow bones in your labs just to use them as flavoring agents?” I questioned.
“Oh yeah, it definitely is, but those bones ain’t lab grown, Idokam.” Elena bluntly stated.
I looked back at the human woman with a surprised smile realizing exactly what she meant.
“So your species still does hunt?” I asked.
Elena smiled a predatory smile before looking over to see her mate standing in the doorway. His smaller beast stood next to him with a wagging tail and a panting tongue.
“Yes, we do, Idokam, and I ain’t gonna lie to you, you’re about to learn how to hunt our way once you’re well.” Steven blurted from the doorway.
“If that is what I must do to pay back your services, then so be it.” I replied.
“You’ll be repaying our services in a different way. The hunting’s to pay back Mr. Franklin because I don’t want him on my back. You know, the guy whose sheep you ate?” he asked.
“Damn. I was hoping to forget that incident.” I stuttered.
“Not if you want to keep getting free room and board. As soon as you can stand straight, we’re going hunting for some nice venison so we can both pay off your dang debt.” Steven laughed.
“So be it.” I replied sourly.
Steven gave me a bitter stair like a superior despite the fact that I was much stronger than him even in my weakened state. Still, I knew not to tempt him or any human if they were together. One human was weak. Threatening anymore than one together was asking for trouble.
Eventually, the human’s scowl faded and he slapped a hand over his face and massaged his jowls. He sat himself onto a couch near the blazing fireplace. Percy jumped up to join him and he massaged the beast's head. As he took his attention away from it, he looked at me to speak.
“So then, Idokam, tell me your realization. Heck, maybe even tell me your story since your clearly ain’t afraid of making me a little mad.” he remarked.
I gulped a little, knowing that he likely would not want to hear my story. Humans did not entirely approve of what my species had to do to survive, after all. They approved even less of how we treated those with empathy. I did not want any trouble, but I could tell by the look in his eyes that I had no choice but to spill out my guts. With a weak mutter, I started speaking.
“It is… a very long story…” I crackly muttered.
“We’ve got all night. Ain’t that right, dearest?” Steven asked.
Elena shook her head in response and looked back towards my wounds, binding a bandage tightly over one. Steven gave me a cruel stair to let me know that there was no getting out of it after my little bit of disrespect.
“So be it. You will not like this story, so do resist the urge to finish what Mr. Franklin started…” I ordered knowing that I would likely be shot as a result of my lack of understanding of human ways.

Everyone's favorite irredeemable monster is here for another chapter. Does he perhaps feel guilt for his actions? Is he trying to hide it and ignore it through calm logic and self illusion? Time shall tell all, but all that is known now is that he has a hell of a lot to make up for.

2023.03.31 01:14 Real-Cricket9435 2021 Acura TLX - 1 year review
Verdict I like this car. I regret is not being able to drive some car before commiting tho. The value for me comes down to the price I paid for it.
Pros:
- Rides well
- Handles well
- Looks good (subjective)
- Reliable (best guess based on the drivetrain)
- Physical controls for everything
Cons:
- Poor interior room relative to size
- Bad technology - even after a year, I haven't gotten used to the touchpad
- Low on power compared to peers
Pictures https://imgur.com/a/n5ybXkx How does it drive I can happily say this car is a pleasure to drive. Strong disclaimer - I've only had economy cars long term. The fastest thing I dailied before this was a mk7 TSI.
But I genuinely think this car handles exceptionally. I've only understeered once - in really bad conditions & slow speed. But when the roads are clear, I feel invincible. I can take turns and ramps at any speed I want, and the limit is a matter of courage than mechanical grip.
This wasn't somethign I could say about my family's mk7. That car was a joy to drive too, but it didn't feel anything like this.
Even after a year, I can hit some back roads and get a smile on my face.
The Drivetrain Coming from economy cars, there was initially a huge wow-factor. At 270hp, it's significantly faster than anything else I'd driven before. Now that I'm used to it, the power doesn't surprise me anymore.
In good conditions, the car should be able to do a 0-60 in about 5.8 - 6.0s. I think in reality, this car can do much better but it's unable to because of the tranmission ...
The transmission I just don't know what's it's doing. There are too many gears and it always feels like it's in the wrong one.
If you're driving on the highway and you want to just quickly complete a pass, the car will need to downshift when you put your foot down.
Downshifts are not
really rev-matched, so accelerating suddenly always causes a lurch and is super unsettling. Manual mode has crappy shifts that are annoying for the driver and nauseating for a passenger. I've found a balance of keeping the engine in 'SPORT' but the transmission in drive. The immediate throttle response paired with the lazier shifts seems like the most tolerable way to drive.
Living with it For my needs - this car is the perfect daily. The audio system rocks, and for a front passengers, the car is quite comfy.
The tech sucks, but in a way I like it because it forces me to focus on the road. I find myself much more distracted when driving my family's mk7.
Speaking of which - physical controls. I was dead set on a Golf R, but the lack of ergonomics in the mk8 made me look elsewhere.
Mileage It sucks. I average about 19mpg in city driving. It's not a deal breaker for me because I don't drive that much, but it does pinch on weeks where I have to visit someone far away
The looks I think this is a handsome car. It's wide, it's sleek, and it's unique. You don't see many of these rolling around.
Ok but why? The reality is, I bought this car because I got a killer deal on it. It's too big for me, it can't even fit in my garage. I was deadset on staying in the hot hatch/ or small luxury car realm -
But I got a 6% discount on it and a 2% lease rate on it at the height of the shortage. The audi dealers in comparison were giving me a 6% lease rate and a 5k markup. The audi dealers I dealt were grade A jerks so I was happy to just take this car since time was running out.
Regrets I didn't really get to drive the competition. I drove the IS and was underwhelmed and had that whole experience with Audi. Would have loved to get behing a 330i, maybe even a C300. But most of all - I wish I'd driven the G70. After watching all the reviews, I think it ticks all my boxes. But, the shortage made car buying quite tricky so it is what it is.
Should you buy one Maybe. I lurk this community, and know what the general consensus is. Yes, it's quite flawed, but ultimately - it's not a bad car. If you can get it for the right price, I think you'll be happy with it.
Get behind the wheel and rip it around some back roads if you can. I think you'll be surprised :)

‘NPN Published By First Minister, Details Major Administrative Overhaul
Federation Protests Considered ‘Likely’ To Continue Despite Reforms
Ratko Merljak;
The recent protests from the Federational movement inside the Grand Principality at cities nationwide have been seen as ‘instrumental’ to the creation of a major overhaul of the administration regions of the KIB, with reorganisations being made within the existing regions of the Bilogorje, Osnovna Hrvatska, and Kranjska & Stajerška, with the other three regions to remain unchanged. From here, 4 new regions will be created in their place – Zagreb; Kranjska-Hrvatska-Stajerška; Slavonia-Bilogorje; and finally, the Alpine Principality.
Though the protests that have taken place throughout the past 12 months have meant that the public have had their eyes more focused on the KIB’s internal organisation, First Minister Piemontisi has revealed that the protests were purely co-incidental with existing plans for such reorganisations, to originally take place at the end of 2032. Though delays have pushed the formal adoption of the plan, known as the ‘NPN or ‘National Overhaul of Control’ {‘Nacionalna Preuspelost Nadzora’}, back somewhat, it will focus on the more centrally-controlled provinces of the KIB – Friul-Istria is considered a sensible enough divide to be kept, and the newer Eastern and Western Bosnia regions have been drawn with the plan in mind.
The main goals of the reorganisation have been published to be;
- Placing peoples with similar needs into the same region
- Making administration of the regions easier and less cost-intensive
- Focusing on local production of goods, with regional subsidies making more sense
- Allowing for the regions to allocate resources towards infrastructure more easily
- Giving people more suitable representation
- Allowing for region-based voting in coming parliamentary elections
To this end, the addition of the Alpine-focused ‘Alpine Principality’, called that due to being owned by the Grand Principality rather than being independent in its own right, is considered the best result of the changes. The move has been seen as one to placate the currently German-led efforts to establish a more revolutionary federation, with the role of the Grand Prince not yet decided, as the compromise of having 25% sovereignty for the region centred in Graz will be seen as a minor win. The current ‘Osnovna Hrvatska’ (‘Core Croatia’) region being broken up is also seen as a major aid, as it allows for more autonomy to be practised for all economic elements outside the main city of core Zagreb – instead, the remainder of the region is to be allocated to either an expanded Kranjska-Hrvatska-Stajerška or Slavonia-Bilogorje, depending on location. Other changes are considered more minor, such as the slight shift towards more autonomy in all regions (with only Zagreb keeping its lack of autonomy), for a standardised 20% lower threshold.
Speaking over the radio, Overlord Nikola Glavan has stated that “my time as Overlord is close to done, and I must commend you all in my Principality for supporting us throughout times of toil and plague; I will be stepping down from my position in October to allow for a new Overlord to be elected, and so, continue the election process. Nevertheless for the here and now, I am glad that this major project could see myself off, and if we do not see this mass unrest not disappear, then I would consider it rather unfortunate. That goes for the Federationals as much as anyone else. Good day.”
Thus, that reorganisation is now completed and published; it will be in December that these changes will take place by, along with the reformation of the new regional governments in their respective capitals. We wish to hear from you for next week – what are your thoughts on the reforms, and do you believe they go far enough to prevent unrest? Send your letters and telegrams in, and we will publish them in next week’s paper.

“It will not work Fil! How will this fix everything wrong up? That is madness.”
“You say that Nik, but can you ever be certain about that? I know it will only be temporary, and I know that it will eventually end, but I need to go through with this.”
“And bear my name to it? Bear ‘Glavan’ as my parting gift?”
“And not realise that many will love it? You do not understand the PCZ’s popularity nationwide, and they like our policies. That is that.”
“Did you ask even around the civil servants offices whether that was true there?”
...
“Yes, that is what I thought Fil. We cannot tear it up now, but I will be damned if my legacy is broken by a stupid reorganisation, all gone down the drain like the mess that it is.”
“And you have a better plan?”
“Dmitry would probably have one.”
“Who is not here and not in charge.”
“And what are you suggesting? Ocko in charge of more?”
“I thought you were?”
“Madness. He is too kind of a person to rule this. We know.”
“Fine... but we do not talk about this again, Nik?”
“Never, Fil. Never. Bye.”
“Farewell.”

2023.03.31 00:27 koola_00 Five Nights at Freddy's: Danger at Home Chapter 5: Playdate Gone Wrong (Part 2)
AN: This is part 2 of Chapter 5: Playdate Gone Wrong.
Later on, Charlie, Marla, Edward, and Jason arrived at the playground. As one might expect, the place was filled with many kids playing around. Some of them were on phones, but others were interacting with each other in playful ways. Charlie and Marla smiled at seeing the bustling activity.
"Well, here we are, guys!" Charlie said as she looked down at Edward. Edward looked at the playground, nervously holding onto Charlie's legs.
"Isn't this exciting, kids? Look at all these other kids playing around, enjoying life without a care in the-Jason, I'm gonna break that phone in half," Marla began with a big smile before looking down at Jason, who was still on his phone.
"Then you'd have to pay for a new phone. You bought this phone, remember?" he asked, not looking up at Marla. Marla grunted and yanked the phone from his hands, causing a small bicker.
"Hey! Give it back! I'm on Level-"
"I don't care, Jason. Now listen before I do something,"
"Gonna break it?"
"You'll be lucky if that's all I do,"
"You wouldn't,"
Meanwhile, Edward looked back and forth between them as Charle knelt and tapped his shoulder. She pulled him closer and whispered,
"Don't worry. Marla's not gonna do anything too severe, like break that phone. That thing costs $197. It's not cheap,"
Edward gasped silently at the price, which made Charlie laugh. Then, she stepped closer.
"Edward, don't worry. Everything's gonna be okay. I'll be at these benches with Marla and my other friends when they get here. If you need anything, just come to me, okay?" she assured. Edward smiled slightly and nodded. Charlie smiled back before placing a finger on his chest, causing Edward to look down. Charlie then flicked his nose with it, making the two chuckle.
As Charlie ruffled his head, Jason soon approached Edaward's side as Marla huffed.
"Alright, now that we've come to an understanding…Hope you two are ready to have fun!" she started with a sour look before growing a bright smile. Edward nodded while Jason shrugged.
"Okay…so, you two just go out and make friends. Need anything; we're right here!" explained Charlie. Edward smiled before he took Jason.
"Come on, Jason! Let's have fun!" he insisted. Jason looked down at him and grew a small smile before conceding.
"Alright. Maybe this place has something fun to do," he replied before they rushed into the playground. Marla and Charlie sighed as they sat down on a nearby bench. Marla looked at the scenery with a smile on her face. Then, she looked at Charlie and saw she had an uncomfortable look.
"Hey, Charlie? Is everything okay?" she asked. Charlie looked at her and smiled.
"Oh, yeah. I'm fine. I'm fine," she sighed. Marla scooted closer and replied,
"You sure? You look like something's bothering you? Is it Freddy?"
"No, no. Well, not entirely. It's about Edward. Remember how he had a nightmare last night?" she asked. Marla nodded.
"Well…Marla, what I'm about to tell you, PLEASE don't tell this to the others, okay?" she asked.
"Uh, sure. What happened?" Marla replied, growing unsure.
"Edward talked about how a monster took him away. I-It reminded me of Sammy. I-I know it sounds crazy, but he said a little girl was in the dream with him. And there's this picture I took from the pizzeria of a golden Bonnie with two kids. I-I don't know why, but it feels so familiar to when I lost Sammy all those years ago," confided Charlie, recalling the memory of Edward telling her the dream.
Marla was surprised by what her friend told her. She blinked as Charlie massaged her forehead in stress.
"Charlie, are you…serious? Maybe it's just a big coincidence," she assured, gently patting her back. Charlie nodded.
"That's what I'm telling myself. But there's something inside me that's telling me it's not. A-And there's this drawing that Jessica brought home that had two kids and a yellow Bonnie on it as well. It's like…I don't know what to think of it."
Marla frowned as she scooted closer to Charlie.
"Charlie. I think Freddy's stressing you out. I know you want Edward to have fun, but I don't think you've overcome what happened yet. You need space," she explained.
"But what about Edward?" asked Charlie.
"He'll understand. For someone so young, he's very considerate of you. He'll be upset, no doubt, but I'm sure he'll understand. Plus, Fazbear Entertainment clearly did not do a good job testing their robots because something was wrong with him, and he got into Edward's room! So you and he probably need to stay away anyway. Charlie, we want you to be safe and happy," Marla elaborated before she pulled Charlie into another hug.
Charlie smiled at her friend's warm embrace before hugging her back. The two girls remained embraced for a while longer before Marla pulled back.
"For now, though, let's just take in this bright new day and watch Edward and Jason make friends," she said with a smile. Charlie nodded with a smile before they turned back to the playground.
While the girls were talking to each other, Jason and Edward were struggling to find groups to fit in.
Jason and Edward tried to get in with one group of kids, but the group continued as if they ignored the two. The next group was on their phones and did not talk to the two much. They did find one girl with glasses to talk to, but she was quite chatty.
"So you see, the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell! It extracts energy from the cell through cellular respiration. Oh, and this also interesting fact about the human bod-"
Jason and Edward looked at each other as the nerd girl continued to talk. The older boy placed an arm in front of Edward and gently pushed him back, scooting away as the girl chatted obliviously.
"Oh, man. Marla said that making friends would be easier than I thought," Jason mumbled as they arrived at a sand area. Edward frowned as he looked down, looking at the sand pit. He walked over and ran his finger through it.
"I wish Freddy's here," mumbled Edward. Jason sat next to him and nodded.
"Yeah. At least he'll make things fun," he replied. Edward hummed in agreement. They sat there for a while before they heard shouts from the trees a bit further away from the playground. The two looked up to see a little girl with blonde hair and short, low pigtails, no older than 6, running between two teenage boys as they tossed a stuffed Chica doll.
"Hey! Give it back!" she cried.
"Catch it, little brat!" one boy taunted. The others laughed as they continued taunting her. Jason hummed in sympathy.
"Hate to be her," he said. Edward looked on, but he did not feel the same as Jason. He felt like he wanted to help her. So, he stood up and sped to them. Jason gasped and stood up, and walked after her.
"Eddie, wait! Don't get involved in that!" he warned as he got next to Edward.
"But they're being mean to her!" replied Edward as one of the teenage boys then tossed the doll up a tree, the thing landing on a branch. The teenagers laughed as they high-fived each other and rushed off, leaving the girl to the point of tears. By this point, Edward arrived, with Jason nearby. Edward looked at the girl as she tried to reach for the doll, but it was too far.
"Are you okay?" asked Edward. The girl looked at him and shook her head.
"No! Those bullies threw my Chica doll up a tree!" she pointed to the doll. The two looked up and frowned. Edward looked at Jason.
"What can we do to help?" he asked. Jason hummed as he looked at the two kids, then at the doll. Then, he had an idea.
"Alright, I'm gonna climb up a tree and get it down. Does that sound good?" he asked. The girl's face brightened while Edward grew confused.
"Shouldn't we get Miss Charlie and Marla?" he asked. Jason shook his head and waved him off.
"Nah! I'm a big boy. I can take care of myself! Don't worry; I won't be long! Alright, here we go!" boasted Jason as he cracked his knuckles and began to climb the tree. Edward looked concerned, while the girl had a big smile. As Jason climbed the tree, Edward looked at the doll, then the girl.
"So…you like Freddy Fazbear & The Band?" he asked. The girl looked at him and nodded.
"Yup! Have you seen the cartoon, too?" she asked. Edward nodded.
"Uh-huh! I watched one earlier today with my babysitter, and it was funny! I wish Freddy was here, though,"
The girl blinked in surprise and tilted her head. Edward noticed this and replied,
"Yesterday, this nice lady brought Freddy home! He's my best friend, but he's not feeling well. My babysitter said that he's not acting right."
The girl hummed in pity.
"Sorry to hear that. But it's great to know I'm not the only one who has a member of the band here. My older sister volunteered for the Funtime Service and she has Chica coming over later tonight!" she replied with a smile. Edward brightened with the news, excited that Freddy's gonna be reunited with one of his friends.
"Cool! Hey, uh…what's your name?" asked Edward.
"Elenor! What's yours?" the girl introduced herself. Edward smiled as he raised his hand for a fist bump and replied with his name. Elenor smiled and fist-bumped as well, causing the two to giggle.
While they talked, Jason managed to get close to the branch where the doll was. Jason grunted as he crawled closer and closer. The branch began to groan, but Jason did not notice. Eventually, he managed to grab the doll. He smiled and looked down.
"Hey! I got your doll, girl!" he called down. Elenor and Edward looked up, and the former squealed.
"Thank you, uh…boy!" she called out. Jason rolled his eyes as he dropped the doll, allowing her to catch it.
"It's Jason, girl! And-WOAH!" he shouted as the branch cracked. Edward and Elenor gasped as Jason barely grabbed the tree trunk just before the branch fell to the ground. Elenor and Edward stepped back and looked up.
"Are you okay, Jason?!" called Edward. Jason panted as he shook his head.
"No! I nearly fell! Get Marla and Charlie!" he said as he struggled to hold on. Elenor and Edward gasped as the latter nodded.
"W-Where are they?" asked Elenor.
"This way! Follow me, and hurry!" replied Edward as they rushed away from the tree.
Meanwhile, Charlie and Marla watched the other kids playing before the former grew suspicious.
"Hey, do you know where Jason and Edward are?" she asked. Marla raised a brow and looked around, not seeing them anywhere in the playground.
"Huh? D-Did we lose them already?" asked Marla. Charlie began to panic a bit before they heard,
"Miss Charlie! Marla!"
Edward's voice made them turn to look at Edward and Elenor, the former waving his hands. Relieved, Charlie rushed forward first.
"Eddie! What happened? Where's Jason?" she asked. Edward pointed to the trees.
"He's stuck on a tree and is about to fall!" he said. Elenor nodded as if to agree with him. Charlie gasped as Marla widened her eyes in horror.
"What?! JASON?!" shouted Marla as she rushed ahead to where Edward pointed. Charlie then took Edward and Elenor and picked them up.
"Come on!" she said as she rushed after Marla.
Back at the tree, Jason was panting in fear. He looked down, fearful at how far he had to go up.
"Darn it, darn it! Why did I agree to do this? I can't climb back down! Ah!" he said as he felt himself slipping!
"JASON!"
Jason looked to his left, seeing Marla rushing ahead, just as he felt himself losing his grip. Jason closed his eyes and shouted,
"MARLA! HELP ME!"
Suddenly, Jason felt himself slipping down. The barks against his skin began to hurt, causing him to wince. Then, he felt himself falling back, and Jason soon found himself plummeting 10 feet down. He heard Marla scream his name just before he landed on a pair of arms.
Jason grunted as he heard the others gasping. He then moved his hands, feeling something metallic holding him. He looked up and, to his shock, saw Freddy looking down at him with concern.
"Are you a-a-alright, friend?" he asked. Jason gasped in shock before nodding.
"Y-Yeah. Thanks, Freddy. How did you get here?!" he asked as Freddy gently set him down. At this point, Marla stepped in and pulled Jason away to inspect him.
"Are you okay, Jason? What were you thinking?!" she asked as she dusted the barks off him. Jason grunted as he looked at her.
"I was, uh…helping a girl get her doll back," he explained. Elenor nodded as she stepped forward and explained what had happened. Charlie and Marla hummed as they took the information in, and Charlie looked at Edward. As Marla sighed and spoke to Jason, Charlie knelt and said,
"Edward, sweetie. That was very nice of you and Jason to do. But please, let me know next time, so this doesn't happen again. Understand?" she asked. Edward replied,
"I did tell Jason that. But he said he's a big boy and wanted to do it himself."
Elenor nodded in agreement, and Charlie frowned, sighing.
"Of course he did," she mumbled as she shook her head. She then looked at Freddy, who was talking to Elenor about the Chica doll, and how she mentioned Chica's coming over to her home tomorrow, which made Freddy beam in delight. Edward smiled while Charlie sighed with a frown.
"Why is he out this time? Edward, did you wake him up?" she asked. Edward shook his head rapidly, but Charlie remained skeptical. She then stood up and approached Marla, who had finished cleaning Jason and was looking at Freddy with suspicion as well.
"Hey, Marla," began Charlie.
"I had nothing to do with waking him up. Neither did Jason," replied Marla as she motioned to Jason, who nodded in agreement.
"Ugh. Well, he can't stay out here. He should not even be out of the house in the first place!" she explained as she looked at Freddy, who was now talking to Elenor and Edward. That was when Jason pointed out,
"Uh…I think it's too late to take him back now."
Marla and Charlie looked at Jason and followed where he was pointing. A few feet away, many other kids in the playground had arrived to hear the commotion, and their eyes widened at seeing Freddy. Freddy, Edward, and Elenor noticed the group as well. After a few seconds, the group screamed in delight and rushed forward, excited to meet Freddy. Charlie had to pick up Edward to ensure he would not be trampled on.
"Careful!" she called, but the others ignored her. Edward looked on as Freddy looked down, joyfully expressing his love to see fans of him and his friends. Charlie and Marla frowned at the sight.
"Wow. I didn't think there'd still be fans of Freddy," Charlie mumbled. Marla hummed.
"Well, it's been about ten years, and many families have moved out by this point," she reasoned. Charlie sighed as Freddy then declared,
"Are you all ready to have a Fazbear Fabulous time?!"
The kids cheered on while Edward smiled. Then, he looked at Charlie and asked,
"Can you put me down? I wanna join in!"
Charlie frowned, unsure, before taking a deep breath.
"If you notice ANYTHING wrong, come to me. Okay?" she asked sternly. Edward's smile dropped briefly, but he nodded. Charlie nodded as well before she gently placed him down.
"Thank you, Miss Charlie!" he said before running to the group, joining Elenor. Marla then felt Jason tugging her shirt.
"Can I join them?" he asked. Marla frowned as well.
"Alright. But like Charlie said, if you see ANYTHING wrong, just…okay," she replied as she noticed Jason running ahead to join in. She and Charlie then looked at each other, and they shook their heads.
"Hey, girls! What's all the commotion?!"
The two turned to see Jessica and Carlton walking over, the latter stretching his arms.
"Oh, hey Jessica. Hey, Carlton. Well, take a look for yourself," Marla said as she pointed to Freddy and the kids, where all of them were singing. Carlton and Jessica grew shocked faces.
"Uh," began Carlton.
"We don't know," Charlie replied.
"Did he-" began Jessica.
"Nothing yet. He saved Jason from falling off a tree," Marla answered.
"How-" Carlton said.
"He was helping this little girl get a Chica doll," Charlie said.
"Oh…" Jessica and Carlton went.
Later, the four sat on the bench, watching the playground become more lively, thanks to Freddy. The other adults and older teens on the sidelines were also watching, some with smiles and others with apprehension. Charlie looked on, wondering why the company would give such a faulty robot for free.
"Hey, Charles? You alright?" asked Carlton. Charlie shrugged.
"I'm just so confused. I know something is going on with Freddy, but I just don't know what to do. And…Vanessa still hasn't called, yet," she said as she fished out her phone, grumbling at the screen. Marla and Jessica looked at each other as Carlton placed a hand on her right shoulder in sympathy. Charlie smiled before asking,
"Hey, where are Lamar and John?"
"Oh, they're finishing up unpacking. They'll be with us later today," Jessica explained. Charlie hummed with a nod before they heard loud laughing. They looked and saw Freddy lifting Edward, with the other kids smiling as well. Charlie ended up smiling at the sight.
"So…what do you think about Edward?" she asked. The three looked at her and smiled.
"Well, I think Edward's a cool kid!" Carlton added.
"Yeah. I also like that he made friends with Jason. It's SO refreshing to see my brother being friends with someone outside his phone…even if the friend's like, 7 years younger than him. What about you, Jessica?"
Jessica nodded with a smile before frowning a bit.
"He's a really sweet baby, but…when we first met, he looked a bit scared of me. I remember him saying that his father told him that are into fashion like me are vain, petty, and rude," she answered. Charlie quirked her head in surprise, and Marla and Carlton nodded.
"Yup. I did tell him that, back then, she was, but I, uh, I was gonna tell him that she's not, now!" Carlton explained, which soon earned him a glare from Jessica.
"Yeah, but you didn't. So that made a wonderful first impression on him. *sigh* Still, I could tell he's a good kid. Just…misguided," she said. Charlie nodded subtly.
"Yeah. I'm gonna talk with him later about-" she began before,
"WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING?!"
A shrill voice made the teens gasp in place. They turned to see a Caucasian woman in her 30s with short blonde hair in a bowl cut approaching Freddy and company. Carlton hummed.
"Oh, dear. We got a wild Karen here," he proclaimed.
"What are you kids doing with that death machine?!" the Karen called to them. Freddy and the kids stopped to look at them, which worried Charlie.
"Oh dear. Hang on, I gotta deal with this," she mumbled.
"Not on your own, you're not," Jessica said as she, Marla, and Carlton followed her.
"Good day, m-ma'am. Is there something wrong?" asked Freddy as he looked at the woman. The woman scoffed as she pointed at him.
"I don't know what you're doing here, bear! But your company is not welcome here in Hurricane!" she called out. The kids grew scared by this woman, and they moved closer to Freddy. Thankfully, Charlie and her friends came along. Jessica took the initiative.
"Excue me, ma'am. What's going on?" she asked politely. The woman stared at her.
"These kids are playing with a company that is responsible for my son's death!" she shouted. Upon hearing this, Jason, Edward, and Elenor widened their eyes in shock.
"W-What did she mean 'her son died?'" he asked Elenor and Jason.
"I don't know," Elenor added.
"Me neither. But Marla did say that bad things happened in a Freddy's pizzeria here," Jason confided. Edward blinked, remembering Charlie telling him something about a pizzeria where Freddy used to be.
"Okay, ma'am. Please calm down. I'm s-sorry about your son. But you can't take it out on a couple of kids and a robotic bear that had nothing-" Marla reasoned as she gestured to the kids and Freddy, but the woman wasn't having any of it.
"I DON'T CARE! I want this THING gone from town before it does anything to our children!" she screeched. At this point, the other adults had gotten their phones out, recording the whole thing, which none of the teens and kids noticed. The kids were too busy pleading with the woman not to send him away.
"Please don't take him away!" a ten-year-old boy screamed.
"You're a meanie!" a seven-year-old girl cried out.
"W-What did I d-d-d-do? I would NEVER hurt anyone," pleaded Freddy.
"Freddy did nothing wrong! You're just a sore loser!" Edward shouted.
"Edward!" scolded Charlie, but the woman narrowed her eyes at Edward, who winced at her gaze. Jessica and Carlton intervened.
"I'm so sorry about him, ma'am. But I'm gonna be honest; you're being unreasonable right now. The company's scummy for covering it up, yes. But they themselves are not responsible for your son's death, neither for the other kids," Jessica reasoned.
"UNREASONABLE?! My son's dead, and you have the gall to act like the company's innocent!" the woman shrieked, making her flinch back.
"She's not saying that, woman! Sheesh, control your 'special time of the month', put on your big girl pants, and listen to what we have to-Oof!"
Everyone gasped as the woman slapped Carlton, sending him collapsing to the ground. Edward gasped as he got close to Freddy.
"Ow," Carlton went.
"That's what you get, creep," the woman growled.
"Hey! You can't do that! That's my friend!" Charlie proclaimed.
"Did you hear what he just said?" asked the woman.
"I don't give a shit! You don't do that! Now apologize and get the hell out of here before I call the police!" Jessica demanded, her eyes glaring at the woman with fiery anger. Edward whimpered as he saw Jessica's fury. For her part, the woman scoffed.
"Shut up! I can do whatever the hell I want! That immature perv and those disgusting little brats are making fun my-" she said.
"Don't talk about them like that! Just leave us alone!" proclaimed Marla.
"Shut up, tubby!"
"Hey!" Jason called out in defense of Marla. The woman growled and turned around when she bumped into a metallic body. She stepped back and saw Freddy staring down at her with an angry look. Edward gasped and looked to where Freddy stood a moment ago, wondering how he got there so quickly.
"That w-w-wasn't very nice of you…." went Freddy, head twitching slightly. Charlie gasped as she stood in front of the woman.
"O-Okay, Freddy. Please calm down. This woman's just about to leave. Right?" she reasoned, eyeing the woman. The woman, eyes widened in shock, stepped back, not responding.
"She's a bully. And bullies need to be taught a lesson about hurting friends, physically, and their feelings," Freddy explained as he pushed Charlie aside rather roughly. Before anyone could react, Freddy grabbed the woman by the jaw. The kids gasped while Edward stared on in horror.
"Freddy?" called Edward weakly. Charlie looked back and raised a hand forward.
"Stay there, Edward!" she ordered before she grabbed Freddy's arm to try and get him to let go. Jessica helped out as well.
"Freddy, let go! She'll leave!" Jessica ordered, kicking the bear on the sides. But Freddy remained unfazed.
"And where would the fun be in that?" Freddy growled, and Charlie, Jessica, and everyone else gasped in fright at hearing Freddy's voice. It was very different than the friendly, gruff voice from before.
"F-Freddy?" asked Edward, tears beginning to stream down. Then, the woman felt pressure on her jaws.
"Now would be a good ti-i-ime to hold your breath!" declared Freddy as his eye color changed to a bright purple for a few seconds. Suddenly, the woman felt Freddy squeezing her jaw so hard that a crunch could be heard. Charlie widened her eyes as the woman let out a muffled scream as Freddy twisted his hand.
By this point, everything that happened after flashed by for Charlie.
Charlie felt herself falling, and the next thing she knew, she heard the shouts of Carlton, Jessica, and various other adults rushing forward to tackle the animatronic bear. Then, Charlie heard screams coming from the kids. She turned her head to see them running away…except for Edward, who was staring at the scene with sheer horror in his eyes. One of the older kids accidentally pushed him, and he fell to the ground.
As if on autopilot, Charlie shot up onto her feet and rushed over to Edward as he tried to avoid the stampeding kids. Thankfully, Charlie swooped in and picked him up, and she ran away. Charlie ran far from the scene, holding Edward tightly.
Eventually, she stopped at one corner of the park before she stopped by a tree trunk. She panted as she took in everything that had happened.
"Holy shit. Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit," she mumbled as she heard the commotion of adults shouting and kids screaming. Then, she heard sniffling. Charlie looked down to see Edward, shivering as he clutched her jacket, eyes wide.
Oh no, thought Charlie as she knelt and set him down.
"Edward? Edward, are you okay, buddy?" she cooed softly as she placed a hand on his right cheek. Edward kept shivering as he panted.
"He…Freddy…w-why?" he whimpered, voice barely above a whimper. Charlie gritted her teeth as she listened to him whimpering helplessly, not knowing what to do.
"W-Why did…Why?" mumbled Edward as he covered his face with his hands before crying. Charlie sat there, still contemplating what to do.
"Edward…I'm so sorry you had to see that, buddy. But Freddy's down, now. He won't harm anyone else. I promise," she assured as she stepped closer. Edward looked at her and, with tears starting to stream down, walked over to her, arms stretching out. Charlie knew what this was for and, without hesitation, hugged him. Charlie felt Edward's shivering body and heard his small whimpers, and she gritted her teeth, feeling tears of her own streaming down.
Damn it. I've had him for only a day, and I've failed him already. It could've been worse, but…Oh god. I'm so sorry, Samm…I mean, Edward, thought Charlie, her eyes opening wide as she accidentally thought of Sammy. Pushing that thought out of her mind; she rocked slightly as she caressed his hair.
"It's okay, baby. I'm here. You're safe now. I've got you. I've got you," she cooed softly, closing her eyes as she held Edward close. Edward whimpered, holding onto her as if she were his angel. The two held each other, the world around them fading away, even as the sirens from police cars echoed…
AN: Hey everyone, superkoola here!
Finally, a chapter of this story is made! I've wanted to continue this story for so long, but due to a lack of ideas of how to progress, lack of motivation, and other stories and IRL just got in the way! Well, no more! I now have an idea of how this story can progress!
So…yeah. Other than a reference to a new character for a certain upcoming FNAF DLC (whose name I'll definitely change depending on the actual name when it comes out), I've got nothing else to say about this story, so…
That's it! I hope you enjoy this chapter; leave any criticism if needed, and stick around for

2023.03.31 00:18 CALIIDOTO23 Soldier Stone Part 3: Bullseye, the Secret Person, and the Jailhouse
Soldier Stone is a war memorial built in 1995 high on the continental divide (11K+ elevation), near the Colorado trail. It’s intent was to provide tribute from American Soldiers to "forgotten soldiers, of all countries, religions and persuasions who were expensed during the Indochina wars of 1945 to 1975”. Forrest Fenn fought in those wars.
I posted later in 2022 that Soldier Stone is related to the treasure poem solve and in the
Soldier Stone part 1 &
Solder Stone part 2 posts I provide the details. Below is a summary:
The solve is time related which is why the miles and degrees line up above and end at the clock tower. You can use Google Earth to verify the above (the desktop version, not the online version). One of the time hints provided was Labor Day 2022 (details provided in the previous posts). There is a second time hint that follows which will require a separate post.
The reason for this next Solder Stone post is additional facts I have been able to decipher since which are important to the solve.
- The secret person: I hinted in a previous post that 19.53 degrees from Soldier Stone to the Buena Vista Clock Tower was important but did not provide the details. 19.53 = 1953 which is a hint to the other person. “2 People can keep a secret if one is dead”. That person is Paul Allen (born 1953), who co-founded Microsoft in 1975 in Albuquerque NM when Forrest had his Gallery in Santae Fe NM. Paul Allen became very rich when Microsoft went public, was an avid art collector and he owned Georgia O'keeffe’s house n Santa Fe. His Art collection recently sold for a record $1.5 Billion. Here is another view of the clocktower. Notice the big heart? I have seen others mention this over the years. There are plenty of other facts that link Paul Allen to this treasure hunt – this will require a separate post.
- The Jailhouse: The Jailhouse bar in Buena Vista Colorado is related. It closed in 2021 with plans to move to another location down the street but it has not re-opened yet (as of March 2023). More to come later on the jailhouse bar but if you would like a hint see the primary picture on the home page. Who is singing and what did he do during the 2004 super bowl?
Bullseye: The above new details will help in your research of the solve, and they are true, but the primary reason for this new soldier Stone post is the Bullseye and bridge. Forrest mentioned that he wanted to build a bridge over the Rio Grande River with his friend who was an artists. Forrest was apart of building a bridge but over the Arkansas River in Buena Vista Colorado. The bridge was built in the 1990’s and leads to the many trails that have been built since – the
Barbara Whipple Trail system (a local Buena Vista Artist who owned a gallery there and died in 1989). Why is this important? If you draw a line (using Google Earth) from Soldier Stone to the end of the bridge (
38°50'49.30"N 106°07'18.19"W) that line is exactly 19.30 degrees from Soldier Stone to the Bridge and 199.46 degrees from the bridge to Soldier Stone at 40 miles.
- 40 Miles: the primary distance line in the poem (“Not far, but too far to walk”) contains the word ‘far’ twice and that is word #40 in the poem.
- 19.30 Degrees: 1930 – Forrest Fenn was born in 1930
- 199.46 Degrees: the movie Forrest Gump was released in June 1994. June is the 6th month = 1994/6.
- Bullseye: if you scan that line from Solder Stone to the bridge spot the line goes right through the visual bullseye made by the roads in Buena Vista here. Notice Brown Dog Coffee next to the bullseye. Brown Dog Coffee is part of the solve and opened in 1995 the same year Soldier Stone was built. The line also goes through the end of Gold Street in Buena Vista as well which is next to the heart Here.
Many have speculated that Soldier Stone was involved in the solve but I am here to tell you that the poem and solve was not built using Solder Stone. Solder Stone was placed in that EXACT spot in 1995 for this solve! Imagine that for a moment and you will get a sense of how big this is and why all the facts continue to be hidden.

2023.03.30 23:45 FCCinNYC First confirmed case of Vinyl Chloride poisoning in Canada, 120 miles from East Palestine in line of Feb 6th plume. She, partner, & dog developed sickness days after. Polluted well water expected.
| I have followed & communicated with this individual frequently, who has a chemistry background, since she started posting photos of her snowfall shortly after the burn. She lives near Long Point, which is a UNESCO Biosphere in Ontario, Canada a mere 120 miles from East Palestine. Her snow smelled of chlorine, contained an unusual amount of black carbon, had a yellow tinge to it, and was off-gassing as she performed experiments with the snow in mason jars. This is all well documented on her Twitter feed (below) and her background in chemistry was a big help. She was initially fascinated because the snow did not have its usual crystalline texture (it was agglomerated), and it was not melting above the freezing point. It was off-gassing instead, something that smelled like chlorine. I have followed a world renowned organic chemist (Parisa Ariya) that studies the chemical interactions that create snow of different types, with a particular focus on carbon & organic byproducts of plastic. With the wrong inputs, snow can be extremely toxic, and it can "soak up" & preserve VOCs for a long time & long distances. In short, with the right atmospheric conditions, VOCs will not behave like VOCs, they have more staying power. After nearly 2 months of sickness & lethargy for the whole family, her dog was the first to face serious complications. His liver was failing. Follow-up imaging showed a melon-sized growth on his liver that was visible as a large lump through his fur, which began growing a few weeks prior. The photo of this very large, extracted growth is also posted on her Twitter account (I will not post that photo here). He survived and is recovering for now. At the same time her dog was being tested, her own doctor called back after her initial blood testing; he was concerned and referred her to the Environmental Health Clinic at Women's College Hospital in Toronto. Before she went, he wanted her to take urine tests specific to Vinyl Chloride and a battery of other chemicals known to be associated with the East Palestine incident. That Vinyl Chloride test just came back this morning, which I have photos of through our DMs, and it was positive @ 1066 mg/L in her urine. At that concentration this long after the incident, it can pretty much only be the well water. If she is comfortable with me sharing the photos, I will edit this post & add them today, but my primary objective is to have an independent toxicologist review & compare the results with others who recently tested positive for VC in East Palestine. I would like to get the word out in case you would like to have your doctors test for VC -- there is a testing firm in PA called NMS that can perform these urine tests. No need to panic, but if you're having symptoms & especially on well water, there's a solution close to home that any doctor should be able to order with some direction from you. She has a 15-foot dug well, which seems to be the most likely culprit after the snow melt. VC is known to seek out ground water. https://twitter.com/SmartandSassy11/status/1641475742360805377 https://preview.redd.it/8th0xlzmmxqa1.png?width=1728&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=e2e7fd857829e9bb9835ac6bc61af0e2fcd292d9 submitted by FCCinNYC to EastPalestineTrain [link] [comments] |
2023.03.30 23:30 maximusaemilius Human women are spaceorcs
Sunny walked beside Adam, like she always did, as he paced through the cargo bay, checking off shipping manifests on his clipboard, checking and rechecking the equipment they would need for re-supply. They had stopped on the Tesraki home world for a much-needed rest and some recuperation. They would be here a couple days, so shore leave was in order for a night or two, a prospect the entire group was excited about, considering what the Tesraki home world had become.
If the Tesraki and humans had one thing in common, it was their desire for a good time.
It had probably been a horrible idea to introduce the Tesraki to the idea of gambling and casinos.
Honestly it had probably been a bad idea to introduce the Tesraki to capitalism as it was, since they took to the idea like fish to water, but mistakes had been made and there was no turning back. On the coattails of that debacle, the Tesrakis home world had quickly transformed itself into the Vegas of the galaxy, knowing, in true business fashion, that humans couldn't resist debauchery and a good time. The sheer amount of revenue and inherent benefits that had come to them simply by way of human tourism had been astonishing, raising their planetary gross income to 7% more than any other planet in the Galactic Assembly.
Commander Vir paused beside another pallet of cargo.
"Hey, SUNNY! SUNNY!! Sunny turned her head in a wide arc, searching for the voice and found a group of women standing next to one of the shuttle doors, each waving at her.
She left Commander Vir out of curiosity and walked over.
Dr. Katie was there with a few women from engineering and a couple female marines. Maverick, a short female marine with buzzed blond hair and grey blue eyes greeted Sunny with a wolfish grin.
'Bout time ya big bug! I've been yelling at you for half a minute." Sunny looked around the circle. It was strange seeing the marines in anything other than their usual uniforms. Maverick was wearing camouflage cargo pants, a black tank top and a pair of blue tinted sunglasses, perched atop her short blond hair. Dr. Katie wore a form fitting black dress and pointy red shoes. Another marine had her warm strawberry blond hair curled down past her shoulders.
"Where are you guys going?" Sunny wondered.
"Out on the town, where else? A couple of us decided to get together and go get wasted, or whatever trouble we can get into, maybe lose some money. We don't know, yet." Sunny glanced back towards where the Commander was standing, still going through inventory.
"Oh, well I don't know if WE were-" "Oh come on, the two of you hang out all the time. I think it's about time you got out more, besides we're prettier." The group laughed. Dr Katie flipped her hair and grinned at Maverick,
"Well, except for Maverick, but we had to have an ugly one to make the rest of us look better." Maverick snorted and waved a hand,
"Are you kidding me?" She motioned seductively,
"Nothing can top 'this'." "A sack of lard," More laughter.
"Keep laughing ladies. You're just jealous of my stunning physique. As I was saying though, seriously Sunny, you need to get out. The Commander has work to get done anyway and he's going to be boring for the next 48 hours." Sunny wavered on the edge of indecision, as a pair of boots thudded on the ground next to her.
"What are you jackals trying to get my Sunny into?" Katie linked an arm through one of Sunny's lower two arms,
"Girls night, and YOU aren't invited." "Yeah, only women or those who identify as such are allowed'" One of the engineers piped up from the back.
Commander Vir snorted,
*"Y'all better be glad I don't identify as a woman."
Striking a quick pose and flipping imaginary hair over his shoulder,
*
Because I'd be the prettiest." "Yes, a beautiful monkey, sir." Jackie tilted her head,
"You know, now that I think about it probably not the prettiest, or the smartest, or even the strongest. Bet Mav could crush you with her thighs if she wanted to, pop your head like a melon." He raised an eyebrow,
"As fun as THAT sounds, I am afraid you might be right. You all are too much for my delicate sensibilities. I was actually coming over here to give you the pre-leave lecture." He cleared his throat,
"Don't get pregnant, don't get anyone pregnant, don't sell your body for money, don't accept drinks from strangers, any bail, ransom, or parking tickets will be paid out of your monthly wages. Keep all debauchery, drunkenness, fighting and gambling to a minimum, and please for the love of Jupiter, try not to kill anyone." "Yes sir, I will try very hard not to get anyone pregnant." There was laughter about the group.
The commander raised a hand,
"It is 4023, so I am SURE you could find a way." "What if I get kidnapped Commander, can I hurt them then?" "You wouldn't need to hurt them Jackie. They would bring you back and I would make them pay ME ransom to take you back," He tucked the clipboard under his arm and looked at Sunny.
"Good luck with this group. Don't die, and don't kill anyone." ”Oh, I see how it is, so nothing about that pregnancy stuff for me?” Sunny teased and playfully nudged the Commander in the side with two of her arms.
**
”Oh of course… yeah… I mean… you know… You know after you said no to Moss… I mean I just assumed you and… I will just stop talking now…” The girls where openly giggling then.
”By all means Commander, go on!” ”No, you girls go have fun, I am fine Sunny. Enjoy the evening!” She hadn't exactly decided to go with them just yet, but it appeared as if that decision had been made for her. She waved a hand at the Commander who turned back to his earlier duties as the group of marines, engineers and one doctor stepped their way into the small shuttle. The strawberry blonde CJ was a passable pilot and took them down through the clouds with a loud whoop. Sunny's stomach flew into her face, reminding her rather unpleasantly of what she had had for breakfast.
Mav sat next to Katie on the opposite side and over the roaring of entrance into the atmosphere Sunny heard bits of conversation.
"I hate it when people assume that you have to choose one or the other. It's the 41st century, if I want to play with big guns and explosives AND get my nails done afterwards, I am going to damn well do it. You'd have to be stupid to turn down either option, so I say, best of both worlds." Katie raised an eyebrow.
The way the light cut across Maverick's arms and shoulders made it pretty clear she spent a good portion of her time at the gym.
Dr. Katie threw a strand of hair over her shoulder,
"Ok, yes I agree, but also at least be careful when you do that sort of thing. I have been a doctor long enough to know what degloving skin looks like, and yes it is exactly how it sounds. So please for the love of all that is holy BE CAREFUL. Personally, just give me a good book and a bag of chips and I'm set for the afternoon." "What genre?" "Meh, whatever strikes my fancy. Mostly fantasy if I am being honest, sometimes romance hits the spot, but other times I can do for a western. It just depends on the day." Sunny tilted her head, listening intently. While she had spent a lot of time with the marines, she had never actually gotten to know them on a personal level and she barely knew the name of the women from the engineering and science departments.
If she was being honest, she didn't really have much of a relationship with anyone other than the Commander, especially not women.
She never really had, considering her history with her mother.
She grew up spending most of her time with her brother and her father and eventually she had become such good friends with Adam that she had become rather short sighted with her other options aboard the crew. To be honest though, it didn't much matter on her home world, so she couldn't imagine that it would be much different here.
She couldn't help but pipe in on the subject of weapons, which turned into good natured banter between her and Mav, who had some pretty strong opinions about the nature of projectile vs energy weapons. Though when it came to other subjects, she was a bit lost. The humans were an interesting race in that they enjoyed both their war and their relaxation in equal measure, so the topics they were discussing went heavily over Sunny's head. ** She got involved in a couple of conversations she probably could have done without. Humans were gross no matter which group of them you talked to. The only difference was this group of humans was more willing to share.**
The discussion on how to properly scratch a nipple in public was followed by a debate that included, but was not limited to, scratching in other unmentionable places, random overgrown hairs, body fluids, body smells and on and on.
Sunny turned the conversation back to music, something she was comfortable with. Mav liked punk, alternative, and hard rock, Dr. Katie was ok with anything as long as it was catchy. Jackie, the engineer, had a thing for country music, and CJ was some strange mix between classical and R&B it just depended on the day. The other women chimed in with their favorites and soon all genres were accounted for.
They were all laughing about something by the time they hit planet side and Sunny stepped from the shuttle, eyes wide as she turned in a circle, taking in the bright neon lights and a million billboards shamelessly advertising for human tourists.
Billboards hundreds of feet across showing pictures of half-naked models, both men and women, rose high into the sky.
The one sad thing about the future was that it hadn't stopped the objectification of the human body, but had simply equalized the amount of objectification between the sexes, men and women in equal measure, because it was always easier to sell a product when you were really just selling sex instead.
The Terasaki certainly had no moral qualms about doing it either. It wasn't even their species after all.
CJ clapped her hands together, throwing her strawberry blond curls over one shoulder,
"Alright, we need a game plan." Mav eyed one of the billboards,
"How about we start there?" She pointed. The group of them turned to find an advertisement for nightly ring fighting,
"It's just like what I was saying, gotta go see someone get fucked up before I get my nails done, that's just how things should be. Plus, twenty bucks says there will be alcohol for those of you who are less interested." "Hey, I am down for anything as long as I get a massage later." Mav nodded,
"Deal, I get to watch someone get the snot beaten out of them and you can get wasted. Everyone wins." Sunny wasn't entirely sure what she had expected, but she liked what she got. Sunny, Mav and CJ got seats just outside the ring while Jackie, Katie and a few others stormed the bar. Turns out CJ had a thing for yelling at the referee. Mav didn't care what happened, just as long as someone was getting punched in the face and Sunny, well Sunny loved it, yelling and screaming with the rest of the humans as Drev and Humans alike beat the pulp out of each other.
Halfway through the night Sunny was interrupted,
"Hey, HEY, Scarab." Sunny turned around to find a large human looking at her from the aisle,
"Why don't you go stand with the rest of the Drev. I reserved these seats." Sunny looked down at him,
"Uh... yeah, there's room." "Let me talk slow since you don't seem to speak good human, but you're big and I don't want your arms getting in the way of my view so why don't you get lost you dumb four armed bug?” Sunny was ready to ignore him, but before she knew what was going on Mav and CJ were standing in front of her arms crossed,
"The hell you say, you DON'T talk to our friend, bitch." The guy looked a bit nonplussed, but straightened himself up,
"I told her to go sit with the other Drev." "I didn't know these seats were segregated." Mav shot back,
"But if that's the case, I think idiots are seated on the other side." "Are you fucking kidding me?" "No, I'm not. Now either you can back up, or I can back you up." Mav was right in his face now, but CJ put a hand on her arm warningly. It was human culture that the first person who threw a punch, whether man or woman, was opening up to a fair beating.
Sunny stood from her seat looming a good foot to two over her short companions glowering down at the man. She didn't say anything. The man backed up a few steps.
"Aww... little bitch gonna cry to mommie," Mav taunted, much to the chagrin of CJ.
The guy's face turn beet red,
"If you weren't-." "Here let me finish-" CJ grabbed Mav by the arm and pushed her back to her seat,
"Down Mav." She turned her eyes back to the guy.
"Look Imma make this as clear as I can. We aren't moving, so either you get over it and take a seat or you get the hell out. Pick your poison." The guy took his seat and shut up. Sunny couldn't help making a point to step in front of him a few times, blocking his view with her bulk. Mav got a kick out of her pettiness, but eventually they left to find Jackie, Katie and the others at the bar.
Just a few drinks in and already they were coming up with stupid dance moves. Grabbing them, they moved out of the bar and onto the street. It was leaning towards late evening, but they managed to get themselves checked into a nice little spa, hunched between two buildings, a bit out of the way and pushed back from the rest of civilization.
Everything going on here was pretty foreign to Sunny. The Drev had nothing comparable in their culture to this practice, and she watched in confusion as the other humans took their seats at strange tables. Mav was "getting her nails done," pointing out that there was nothing better than a hand massage and anyone who disagreed could go right ahead and fight her. Katie had her feet soaking in a pool of hot water, while Jackie lay on her stomach on a strange flat table, a towel wrapped around her curly dark hair obscuring her face, while her dark skin shone in the delicate white light overhead.
Water trickled somewhere in the distance, and the entire room was done in shades of white and pastel giving it a very un-Drev aesthetic.
It was an extreme 180 from the earlier venue and Sunny wasn't entirely sure how to behave. Eventually, someone came to her rescue, as she was ordered to take a seat and relax by CJ, who determined she was in for a treat. Sunny had to admit the warm towel around her neck was nice and she hummed softly as her feet soaked in a pool of water. The human that walked in looked a little surprised to see her, but shrugged and got to work. It took a little more elbow grease to get through Sunny's tough hide, but when they managed it Sunny had to admit it was probably the best feeling she had ever experienced... in pretty much ever.
Mav snickered, snapping a picture of the big blue Drev, face covered in a green mask, cucumbers over her eyes, sprawled in a chair as one person messaged her huge neck muscles, one worked on the claws of her left upper hand, and another knelt at her feet.
Sunny was quite displeased when her time was up. She needed about an hour more work on her shoulder muscles and at least another ten minutes on each of her hands, but her time was up so they paid, leaving just as a few familiar faces walked in. Another group of tipsy marines, who made it very clear that they intended to get their feet done while they were here, were filing in.
Sunny found the image somewhat amusing, but was glad to see they were having fun and agreed with their decision.
She had a new favorite pastime now and understood why they had chosen it. With that amazing ritual behind them, they went out to eat. The humans ordered a round of drinks and Sunny asked for some water, not actually capable of getting drunk in the same way that humans did. The berries and fruit that her species ate were often fermented when preserved, giving her species an extreme tolerance to ethanol, so much so that it wasn't even worth trying to get drunk since you would likely die of heightened liquid consumption before actually reaching the point of intoxication.
Humans on the other hand reached that threshold pretty quick. A few of them were a bit closer, having consumed a few drinks earlier in the day and were not yet totally down from that high. As the night grew on the conversation got louder, and much more interesting.
Dr. Katie raised her hands,
"Ok ok... you wanted to hear it, so I'll give it to you. I've worked in the ER for fifteen years plus, trauma centers and other level one clinics and there is NOTHING I haven't seen, and I mean nothing." "Worst story," Mav urged.
"No... no, no, no, not at the dinner table…” Begged one of the ladies. Katie took a drink,
"There was this one time I come into a room to check on a patient, and there is this guy with real shifty eyes and he can't stop squirming. Real professional looking type right, so immediately I know he's got something crammed up his ass." The table burst into a fit of giggling.
"So I go up to him and I ask him what's wrong and he hems and haws and he's all like 'Doc, I have some intestinal pain, a stomach ache,' you know obviously because of the thing he's got jammed in his ass." More giggling.
"So of course I ask him all the usual questions, where is the pain, is it something he ate, how long has this been going on, you know and the entire time I am just trying to figure out what he's got up there, because I KNOW he's got something up there, but of course he won't admit it. We go around like this for like twenty minutes, right, and eventually I am just like send him down to radiology. If this guy won't give me a straight answer, I bet an X-ray will." Sunny shook her head.
"Low and behold, the x ray comes back and what does this guy have spelunking in his insides? None other than... a Barbie doll." "No!" "Yes, and he had thought about this, like, he had tied her arms down to her sides with rubber bands to make sure they stayed in place. So, I go back in there, I look at him and I show him the X-rax and of course he plays it like I'm a moron. 'Well doctor, I was cleaning my kids playroom, naked,' as you do lol, 'and I slipped and fell.'" Maverick snorted into her drink.
"And of course I am like ‘yeah sure, but why didn't you tell me that when you came in’, and you know what this sucker does? He Looks me dead in the eye and goes... ‘I forgot.’" The table erupted into laughter. CJ laughed and wiped her face with a napkin,
"Now hold on, I got one. It was in boot camp." Mav rolled her eyes,
"Oh no." "Oh yes! Some of the guys had been clearing an abandoned hotel, as part of our training. I wasn't there at the time, but I guess while they were looking around they find this nine inch, monstrous rubber dong stuck to one of the walls. So of course, they laugh it off right, and go back to what they were doing. Well, when they come back later, it isn't there. Kind of weird, but whatever. At least whatever until this thing starts SHOWING UP around barracks. Like our Sergeant walks in one morning to do an inspection and we had all just gotten up right, so none of us were paying attention. She starts yelling at us like she does and then goes all quiet. She tilts her head one way and then the other. I swear I have never seen someone look so confused in their entire life and she's all like, "What the fuck is that?" We all turned around to look and this thing is sitting in the middle of the damned floor and it just flopped to one side, and you know of course we can't stop it so we just start laughing. The sergeant is trying not to laugh and everyone is trying not to laugh, but it just gets worse. When she could finally talk, she just starts screaming at us, trying to figure out what the hell we had been doing the night before. I don't think I've ever done so many pushups in my life." Jackie raised a hand just then,
"No hey, I have always had a question for you guys about the whole boot camp thing. So, what do you do when it's your time of the month? I mean do they let you guys off easy to go fix things? Or do you just have to suffer?" "Suffer…” Mav piped in.
"Mostly suffer. Like I knew girls who would be bent doubled in pain and still had to stand in formation with us like it was nothing. I mean honestly the shit we had to go through. Seriously, there is nothing worse than standing in front of your sergeant and feeling half your innards just sort of shlop out of you and you have to look this guy in the eye like nothing is going on. Like yes sir, no sir, like insides aren't totally falling out right now." Jakie moaned,
"Tell me about it, cramps are the worst." She glanced towards Dr. Katie,
"Seriously, when is the medical field going to do something about that?" Katie finished off her drink and set it back on the table with a thud,
"You would think after more than 200,000 years of menstruation we would know how to fix cramps, but nope, the medical field still has no friggin clue how to deal with them. The general consensus is to throw an anti- inflammatory, a heating pad or a shit-ton load of chocolate at it and pray, but otherwise sucks to suck." Sunny looked between the group of them,
"Cramps? Your insides falling out...er ... are you guys ok?" The group turned to look at her with incredulous looks on their faces,
"You aren't serious?" Jackie asked. Sunny stared at her blankly.
"You guys don't have cramps, periods on your planet... like really?" "Explain?" Sunny wasn't entirely sure that she appreciated the explanation once it was over and shook her head vigorously, "EWWW no... no," She shivered. Battle sounded like a more amusing pastime.
"How does it work on your planet?" Katie wondered, the scientist in her taking over.
Sunny shifted awkwardly,
"Well uh...we have a mating season. The female can become fertile twice a year. It's during the dark season, so generally all the kits are born during or right before the bright season." "So, what? Do you guys just get really horny twice a year or something?" "Er... well no. Any time of year is fine, but you are just more likely to get a kit during those times of year.” "Uh huh, how interesting." Sunny didn't exactly see how it was all that interesting. She had never been caught in this sort of conversation, oddly enough.
Adam had never asked so she had never been forced to answer the question. In fact, she learned more about humans in the last ten minutes than she had learned about humans in the last year she had been aboard the ship and not all of it was great.
One of the biggest things she learned was that humans get slightly strange the more they drink. "Ok, Ok," CJ slurred,
"Hottest guy aboard the ship, go." "Ramirez," Katie responded almost immediately. Mav snorted into her drink again,
"Really... no... no way." "What, he's cute, I'd do him." Jackie raised her hands over her head,
"I couldn't tell you who the hottest guy on the ship is, but I CAN tell you who the hottest girl is." Mav didn't bat an eye,
"Well of course that would be me, like we even have to debate that subject." Jackie rolled her eyes and the rest of the table laughed,
"Ha ha, your confidence never ceases to amaze, but you're not my type." Katie waved a hand,
"Oh come on, I know you don't' LIKE guys like that but you must be able to tell when one of them LOOKS nice. Come on, a shot in the dark." Jackie shrugged, but thought about it for a second,
"Uh... well, how about Adam, he's good looking, right?" The table thought about it for a moment. Mav tilted her head to the side thoughtfully,
"Well I mean yeah he is, but he's also a super massive juvenile." CJ shrugged,
"I don't know, I think it's kind of cute." Katie waved a hand at all of them,
"Not like it matters, because I have a couple of theories." Sunny and the other's looked on in interest, waiting,
"I'm pretty sure he's: A into guys, B not into anyone or C a closeted extrial.” There was some muttering from around the table, but Mav shook her head in disagreement.
"No, he's too uncomfortable around women to like guys, and you can't say he's hiding it because he has no reason to. If he really liked guys he would be indifferent to women and awkward around men. If he wasn't into anyone, he wouldn't be nearly so awkward... however, I can probably get behind C." ”Yeah I also thinking it is definitely C…” Sunny did not notice the glances pointed her way.
The conversation moved on to the hottest girl on the ship, which sparked a furious debate despite Jackie being the only one that liked girls. Turned out though that female humans had no issue discussing the perceived hotness or notness of other women. Nairobi down in engineering took the title with almost unanimous agreement.
That lead into the subject of who was the best looking DREV aboard the ship and once Sunny explained that height and carapace color were the most important outside factors, mixed with fighting status, it turned into a rather entertaining debate as the humans tried to decide which Drev was the hottest, while continuing to steadily drink.
It finally devolved into a slurred argument between Cannon and another of their Drev members, Roc.
Sunny would have found the entire thing funny if it wasn't also rather disturbing. Her vote was the tiebreaker which was obviously biased, considering that Cannon was her brother and that was super weird, so of course Roc won the title.
The drunker they got, the worse they got, until the conversation was oscillating constantly between being mildly lewd and hilariously embarrassing stories that Sunny wouldn't have admitted to in her wildest daydreams.
In the end, it was up to her and Mav, who also didn't drink to get the other girls back to the shuttle.
That was all before realizing that CJ was the only one who could fly the ship, so they had no way of getting back on their own. In the end, they had to call for backup and a rather amused shuttle pilot showed up on scene to take the staggering party back to the ship.
Sunny wobbled onto the ship holding up two drunk women while Mav helped a third.
Together they collapsed onto some cargo containers laughing and slurring.
A shadow fell over them a moment later and Sunny looked up to find Commander Vir standing over them with a raised eyebrow,
"Fun time, Ladies?" A burst of giggling,
"Yes sir, very fun time and quite some interesting revelations." Mav smirked. Katie almost fell off her seat, but Vir caught her by the arm,
"Alright, to bed with the lot of you." Kate tried to wave him off but nearly fell over once more.
"Krill is going to have a fit when he sees the state of you. Come on, let's get you to bed to sleep it off." He glanced over at Mav,
"Get the rest of them back safe." Mav saluted and Katie giggled drunkenly, but managed to make it to her feet and together they wandered off towards the medical bay where the medical staff usually slept.
Sunny also helped Mav get the other two to their quarters, before retiring to her own room exhausted, but happy.
It had been a good day. She determined to do it more often. Previous First [Next](link)
