What's the cheapest way to get to Regina from Kelowna?

2023.06.04 00:15 SnooCauliflowers3709 What's the cheapest way to get to Regina from Kelowna?

Are there any airlines that have cheap flights to Saskatchewan?
There are cheap flights to Calgary, but I can't find cheap flights from Calgary to Regina or Kelowna to Regina?
Would flying into Saskatoon be a better option?

2023.06.04 00:12 dichoto-mouse Recommendations for Long Flight - thunder shirt, anxiolytics

Domestic Shorthair 6 years Neutered male 13 pounds History: adopted at 6 months, had uri, giardia, etc etc but full recovery, nothing since then Texas - France
I’m planning to move. It will be a 9 hour flight, direct, plus time for TSA, at least an hour for immigration, transport, etc. He travels in the car well but I don’t know about a flight.
I think a thunder shirt would help him. It’s my understanding a thunder shirt shouldn’t be worn that long. Would sizing up or making it looser mean he could safely wear it longer, or would it be loose enough there’s no point? He’s right at the top end of medium already.
Is there an anxiolytic that isn’t a CNS depressant and could be used for a flight?
This may be out of the vet scope, but would a pet nanny maybe be better? I imagine they’d get through faster since they do it all the time and know what they’re doing.

2023.06.04 00:11 SuddenlyCoding UCLA vs Northwestern

Hi everyone,
I was recently admitted as a transfer student from a California Community College to both UCLA and Northwestern, and I am having trouble deciding what university to attend (great problem to have, but is a very hard decision). Here are my current thoughts:
Overall school rankings/student body:
Northwestern is a more selective school than UCLA, and when I visited campus, I met a student who transferred from UCLA to Northwestern that estimated the students at Northwestern are equivalent to the top 5-30% of students at UCLA. From the people I met, this seemed accurate. People also seemed much friendlier at Northwestern - I met so many cool people when visiting. I didn't like the students at UCLA as much, and they seemed more closed off (although there were of course cool/smart/interesting people at both schools).
The major:
I want to study both liberal arts and computer science (I like math & computer science, but not physics/chemistry/other STEM subjects and really like liberal arts like polysci/philosophy/languages/etc). At UCLA, I'd be a Linguistics and Computer Science major in the College of Arts and Sciences (one combined major, not a double major; not in the engineering school). This major has too much linguistics for my liking; I'd rather study more CS. However, I do find languages very interesting and like I said, I like liberal arts. At Northwestern, I was admitted for CS in the College of Arts and Sciences (also not engineering). However, it looks unlikely that I could double majominor in a liberal arts subject two years, which was one of the big reasons I applied. UCLA is better known/better ranked for CS.
The classes:
Classes are smaller, more undergraduate focused, and professors seem better at Northwestern. Not too much contest here.
The campus:
I like Northwestern's campus better, and I live near UCLA. Getting away from home and experiencing new things seems worthwhile, but the weather is better in LA and there's more things to do (especially in the winter). Probably better placed for tech jobs as well.
The cost:
No contest - full pay at Northwestern for 2 years vs full instate pay at UCLA for 2 years. I estimate with flights, tuition, etc, this difference is ~100k more for Northwestern. I won't need to take out loans, but I don't want to blow through money for no reason.
The credits:
Also no contest. UCLA gave me all my credits, and Northwestern didn't. They gave me a fair number, but when I met with an academic advisor, she made it clear that graduating in 2 years would require me to take a very intense workload. I am fine with working hard, but I know everyone at Northwestern will be very smart and taking such an intense courseload might not end well (especially because I want time for hobbies, a social life, personal projects, internships, etc)
Any advice would be appreciated!

2023.06.04 00:10 thatandrogirl I should've listened...screwed over by WestJet delay (vent)

TLDR: I knew WestJet was notorious for delays but I hoped for the best. First leg of my trip got delayed which meant I would miss my connecting flight. Had to reschedule everything, which was a major headache and messed with the rest of my trip plans. Next time, I'm paying more to go with a more reputable airline.
---
I'd heard all the terrible things about WestJet, especially about frequent delays, cancellations, and even strikes due to them not paying employees well---but I was hoping for the best and took a gamble.
I had a 4-leg round trip, 3 of which I would've been fine with delays. But of course, the first leg, the one that I absolutely needed to leave and arrive on time ended up getting delayed by 3 hours the morning of due to "unscheduled maintenance" which meant we would miss our connecting flight.
I fly from a small airport (it's technically international, but the only international destination is Canada from the US) so there aren't any other earlier WestJet flights scheduled for the day. There was one with another airline but we wouldn't have made it to the airport and through security in time. Besides that, there were no other flights from other nearby airports or other airlines that would've made it before the connecting flight.
So I quickly got on the phone with WestJet and they did help us reschedule with other airlines, but now we have a full day of flights from 7am to noon the following day, 2 longer layovers, we're stuck with leftover seats, and we can't check in online, which probably means we're going to have to check our bags at the gate. Same thing for the return flights. We also can't get a refund on our hotel so we have to pay for the first night even though we won't be there.
It's not the end of the world, but it's frustrating how that one leg of the flight being randomly delayed messed up almost everything else. I know this technically could've happened with another airline, but it hasn't happened to me yet and based on their history, the chances were higher with WestJet.
I only went with WestJet because it was cheaper by a lot but that should've been at least an orange flag. At this point, if I could go back and tell myself from months ago to pay more with a reputable airline, I would. It wasn't worth the stress.

2023.06.04 00:10 JumpinSalmon First international flight

First international flight and I am confused on customs and checked bags. My flights are all booked through delta, but use KLM, Delta, and Air France.
Do these partner airlines transfer luggage to each other in connecting flights?
Here’s my itinerary:
Departure: SLC-CDG-1 hour layover-VCE
Arrival: VCE-AMS-2 hour layover-SFO-1 hr 45 min layover-SLC
When do I go through customs? Would I go through in Paris or when I arrive in Venice? When I come back, do I go through in SFO or in SLC? Will I need to go through it in Amsterdam?
My layovers are short so I’m nervous about customs time, thanks!

2023.06.04 00:04 Richard_Leo What i learned is, that germans are basically poor

Don't get me wrong, germans are not the worst clients you can have (that is reserved for indians and chinese) but they have a certain status among us austrians.
First of all they seem to be allergic to credit cards which makes the check in process a bit more complicated, since we only can take a certain amount of cash in towards the end of the day for the "cash drop" which will be done everyday on the side of the accountants.
The story begins when i changed from a five star superior wellness hotel to a four star business hotel, because my Gf got a better paid job there so we moved. The difference was shocking how i now perceive certain types of people. Back in my old job money wasn't a problem (people paid 5 figures for their stay, went golfing and so on) but at this job clients were a bit more stingy and aggressive to say the least.
I had f. e. a check out line of like 12 rooms (i was the only one at the FO) and one was already screaming at me that he is missing his flight and i shall be more quick (it wasn't uncommon to have like 100+ check ins and check outs per day at this hotel) and i was just telling him to get back in line and i am not responsible for his schedule.
The problem was, that he had a cash deposit of more than 800 Euro and i didn't had any money left (the shift before me basically did not a proper job) and i told him, that it will be refunded to his bank account which he wasn't happy but accepted it in the end. Then he had a rental car which he parked at our hotel and i also charged him with the daily parking fee and he flipped the shit that this should be included how expensive the city already is blablablabla.
Then he didn't wanted to pay the city tax (which the hotel has give to the government) and he told me that he never had to pay for it and that he is not beginning now. To this point i was just fed up with him and i said, that i will charge him and if he is not paying for it i will call the police and this will make sure that he certainly miss his flight. He wanted the manager and i told him no which threw him a bit off and then he just paid and told me he is not coming back to our city. I wished him a good day and "until next time".
Seriously, i never had problems with germans back in my "old" hotel but this occurrance wasn't the only encounter i had and thinking, that germans aren't that rich as i thoght, because in the other hotel they drove Porsche, Maserati and so on.

2023.06.04 00:02 BlueEyesHermit The friends and the party

We heard about the parents we heard about Zack's recent arrest and people including myself are very suspicious of both Zack and Melissa. But it bothers me how we didn't talk about the party the friends and the weed enough. If just for a second we believe that Karlie actually called Melissa to pick her up... She stated that Karlie was scared and like she saw a ghost, she tried to attack her and couldn't stay still in her seat in the car. It always made me think that something could have happened at this party, someone could have said something or done something that scared her and due to the effects of marijuana she wasn't able to express what happened to her but her fight or flight response to something was still working. Maybe someone approached her at this party that she wanted to get away from. Maybe someone who thought she will tell the police about what happened and than happened to see her walking down the road and just grabbed her. It's just me overthinking and thinking the worst of everyone, but to think that a teenager can disappear and the friends from the party from the previous night cant point out anything strange or suspicious in her behavior... Unless it was a completely spontaneous kidnapping and wasnt premeditated at all someone knows something even if it seems unimportant to them but someone in that friend group might be sitting on some vital information and i wish we could see an interrogation of those kids now that they are probably all adults.

2023.06.04 00:02 Longjumping-Moose-32 Pitched on Marriott Vacations

Hey y’all! Just gathering info from other. I was pitched on the time shares with Marriott and looking for opinions. We got suckered into a presentation in Fort Lauderdale and from being a kid who went to time share presentation with my parents in Orlando, I’m curious to why people don’t go with this program. I’m 29 my wife is 35 and we have 2 kids. We travel quite frequently and we tend to stay at luxury hotels . We have a combined income of 225k a year. I have spent 3k in NYC on just the Edition in Time Square for 4 nights. I was pitched the 2000 points at 23k and was told we can use the points to go where ever we want as long as we plan out the dates. The maintenance fee and one other fee didn’t really scare me because we pay an HOA and house keeping dues in our current house. If you have MVC let me know your thoughts.

2023.06.04 00:01 Ajimento Advice on insurance for first time trip to Australia

Hello, I'm travelling down under for the first time in July and, even though I´m very excited, it´s also a bit daunting! I live in the UK but I´m Spanish and I will be flying from Madrid (since I have a wedding just before the trip in Spain) and flying back to the UK after 3 weeks.
I´m a bit lost in terms of travel insurance for such a big trip (outward: Madrid - Qatar - Vietnam - Melbourne, return: Sydney - Singapore - Dubai - Manchester). When I look for a quote, do I have to include all the countries where I´ll be doing layovers or just my final destination (Australia)?
Also, I started looking at CompareTheMarket and saw that the quotes are for trips which fly from/to the UK and, since I will be starting my trip in Spain, this wouldn´t apply to my journey. Any ideas on how to cover my trip? Would you extend the period of the flight and also add my flight from the UK to Spain?
I would really appreciate any help on this, many thanks in advance!

Hello, I'm a young corporate lady (24 working in HR) who is coming on her vacation to Miami in October!
My flight is to Fort Lauderdale and I will be taking a bus to Miami to stay at an airbnb there hopefully.
Nothing is planned yet. But tickets are purchased and locked. Could someone please help me with planning and maybe even possibly guide me on my trip? Would love to make a friend, maybe if we vibe we could become close friends!
I prefer to get help from a lady, please reach out! If you send a message or comment, I'll respond. :)
P.S. I'm from TORONTO, so if you are interested I can also guide you in Toronto one day!
My personality is more of a spontaneous extroverted girl with a passion for music, pole dancing, and astrology/spirituality. If I sound like someone you'd vibe with we should definitely link! :)
I'm very familiar with the Miami vibe because I am a huge fan of artists and rappers from there, but I have never actually physically been there.

2023.06.03 23:59 Alexandrapreciosa What do y’all do about jury duty?

Basically the nyc court is insisting I come to jury duty. The only problem is I’m a charter flight attendant, so the contracts pop up with a moments notice, and as y’all know we only get paid when we fly. Getting pulled off a long trip for jury duty would cause me great financial loss. I had this problem early in the year and I had my company write me a letter for them to get it postponed til now ish. So they know I’m a flight attendant and I stated multiple times I’m only in the city, at most, 5 days a month (unfortunately this is the absolute truth: I fly a TON). I just have my address in nyc, that’s basically it, and I’m about to move to Miami in the next few months. Pretty much, I knew I was to expect a summons, and it’s going to arrive when I am on a long trip that just popped up. I emailed and told them this, and they said I have to wait to get my summons to ask for another postponement. However, I won’t be able to receive the summons as I will be on my long trip. I am not going to get taken off my trip for jury duty, it would have me out 500 bucks or more on my next check. Anyone have any advice or experience on the matter? Thanks in advance lol

2023.06.03 23:58 blinkydamo Help with an F405 Wing and the VTX/Camera

Evening all,
I am in the process of finally getting round to building an F405 wing into a Bixler 3, I am trying to get he VTX and camera to talk to each other so I can see the image in my headset but don't seem to be winning. Am I missing anything, as per the below wiring link I have the camera connected directly to the board and the video wire from the TS832 into the VTX connector directly below the CAM connector, I then have the VTX power externally at the moment from a lipo. I am getting no video at all, if I bypass the flight controller and connect the camera directly to the VTX then I get an image.
Any ideas what is going wrong? Is there a setting within iNav that I have to turn on to get the video feed?

2023.06.03 23:58 dietitian_and_donuts BOS to SAV

Flying from Logan to Savannah tomorrow. Flight 1121. Been following this page for a few months to help my fear. Everything I've read has been super helpful - especially the advice to think of the plane as if it's flying in jello, turbulence is basically a road with potholes, and when in doubt see if they flight attendants are calm. I still have the fear that I will be dizzy on board. I suffer from vertigo related to inner ear problems and have been more dizzy lately - anxiety also makes it worse but doesn't necessarily cause it to begin with. I bought earplanes that I used during my last flight in 2019 that worked great! My ears didn't pop or anything. Just wanted to put this out there as this isn't a fear I've heard a lot about on here - I have searched it and found a couple of older posts.

2023.06.03 23:56 cantdecidechangel8r Fist time having/using GUC Choice Benefit, may have messed up with PS miles upgrade

I have a multi-city trip between US and Europe about 6 weeks out. Outbound D1 upgrade was only 80k miles...easy choice. Return was 194K miles, though.
I had not selected my GUC Choice Benefits and did so after booking the flight (C+). Read details about redeeming for D1 and the requirement to be in PS to get an 'available' seat using the GUC. Upgraded with 40K points from C+ to PS thinking I could then apply GUC, but I don't see them in my SkyMiles account.
How long does it take for GUCs to show up in my SkyMiles account after selection? Choice Benefits page shows:
