Denver native, coming to visit over Fourth of July! I'm planning a small get-together with friends and I want tosnag one of the first-come first-serve picnic sites at the Chatfield Swim Beach.
How early do ya'll think I should arrive to get a picnic table for me and my group? The park opens at five AM, but my flight gets in at midnight the night before. I've slept less, so if I need to be in line when the park opens, so be it.
Also, if there are better areas in the park to swim from that still have decent amenities (bathrooms, recreation, etc) and water access, I'd love to hear about it! I went there quite a bit as a teen and young adult, but it's been a few years and I know they've added a bunch of developments.

Hi Reddit! My gf and I really need advice on wether or not we should potentially take legal action for our landlord not taking care of things that they should’ve. I’ll try and keep this as short as possible. Here’s the story:

1. We moved into our apartment in September of 2022. The first thing we noticed was the smell of smoke in our apartment. Apparently, my gf said that the carpets should’ve been changed (not sure if this is true or not) but this was the least of our worries.
   
2. When we moved in, we were told that the doorbell buzzer doesn’t work. We were sort of irritated when the landlord told us this, but she said that it would be fixed. Going on almost 9 months now and the buzzer has yet to be fixed. Anytime people come to visit, food deliveries etc, we have to go down 4 flights of stairs to let them in.
   

In December, I accidentally forgot my phone and keys and my dog and I were locked out in the freezing cold for about 15 minutes. Thank god someone came (it was like 2AM) and let me in because I had no way of contacting my girlfriend and telling her I was locked out. My gf also has a condition with her blood pressure so this is a major concern for her if she was to ever to forget her keys, which isn’t that uncommon.

1. In November, we noticed that our apartment started to get very cold. When we would sit on the couch, we would feel a draft coming from our balcony windows. The seals in our windows (living room, and 2 bedrooms) are broke and need to be repaired!!! We had the maintenance guy come take a look and he told us that we should just buy some seal and peel because they wont allow people on the deck to fix the windows. We did get the seal and peel, even though we feel like that shouldn’t of been our responsibility. However, the seal and peel didn’t work good enough because our electric bill went from about $80 a month to over $250!!!!!

After contacting our landlord multiple times about the buzzer, she continues to give us the run around saying “there was a landline installed by the previous tenant, and I’m currently working on the issue. I will keep you posted”. My gf did contact corporate about all these issues and demanded that we at least get some sort of credit for our electric bill. Well, we got a credit but so did everyone in the entire apartment. I just find it ridiculous and feel like we are being taken advantage of. Oh yeah, and they want to raise the rent this coming September $150 and we just got the notice today. I’m fed up. But also want to know if there are any legal actions we can take or advice on how to professionally handle this situation.

I am travelling via Delta from Toronto to El Paso with a connection in ATL in a couple of weeks, and decided to splurge for the first class ticket, which was INSANELY expensive (for me), at around $2k CAD all-in. Will be my first time ever flying first, but I just decided I was sick of the extremely cramped seats in economy, so thought what the heck... not to mention, I have to be at the airport here at 3am, (3hrs before international departures), so will be totally wiped... every added bit of comfort and convenience will be appreciated. Admittedly, looking at the first class Delta seats online, I'm a little disappointed- not what I expected for the money for essentially a domestic flight-, as they look like little more than standard seats, but I do understand they're wider and with more legroom. I guess I just wanted to post and see if there's any other dudes who've flown both regular economy on Delta, as well as first, and whether going first really was that much more comfortable? It's a steep price, but if it really is more comfortable, I don't care... I will take my comfort for the two flights each way. I'm 6'3" and around 375lbs, big legs. Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone!
I’m planning on going to Vietnam at the end of the year with my girlfriend.
My plan is: Crossing from Mexico to the US by car and going up to LAX. Taking my flight from LAX to Vietnam. Taking my flight from Vietnam back to the US.
I’m just a bit confused about being able to travel back to the US on a tourist visa from Vietnam since tickets from Vietnam to Mexico are more expensive.

I’m flying to Bangkok from London with the layover city being Amsterdam.
There are twi flights to Amsterdam, one of which has a 3.5 hour layover and the other gives me an 8 hour layover (both layovers will put me on the same flight to Bangkok).
This my first time doing a flight with a layover and the anxious side of me thinks I should take the 8 hour layover in case my flight is delayed from London to Amsterdam, giving myself a buffer. Is this a silly idea? It’ll be with two different airlines and I don’t think id want to go into the city just in case I can’t get back for some reason.

The computer can't recognize the local stellar cartography, at all. I don't even know how long I've actually traveled. It was only about 10 minutes. I guess FTL time dilation is a bitch. The timing was right, but the singularity completely collapsed. My best guess is I'm about 37 light-minutes from an F, maybe G sequence star, sensors are a little screwy so I have to eyeball it. I'm not big on the math, I just fly what and where they tell me.

I was supposed to only go a little over 4 light years, a quick jaunt over to Proxima Centauri. I was excited about a chance to go FTL, but now, I don't know. We have a couple of small colonies over there and have had a few successful unmanned runs, along with a light resupply for testing. Given how far off the constellations are, if I'm looking at the right ones, I think I went further, far further than I should have. Heh... I guess manned missions need a bit more work. I keep thinking a little bit about the double-slit experiment. You know, particles acting differently under active observation? Could my just being here have messed things up a bit? I dunno.

My wife 31F and me a 27M have been married for 4 years and have 2 children. Our most recent son was born on May 5th and everything was going according to plan. I have been very happy with life, even when dealing with our two kids and every bill and household cleaning needed. Recently she’s been recovering from her c-section and resting while I hold the fort. Well she came downstairs of our home and saw a box and some toys on the floor and lost her shit, starting screaming, throwing stuff, including out 2YO sons bottle of milk. She yelled at me saying I’m not doing enough with the upkeep and keeping the house at her ocd level of cleanliness. I was hurt and confused.
Recently because I have the kids I get bored and go to the store with our 2YO son to burn time. I pretty much go once or twice a day and just walk around target with him.
Yesterday I went out by myself while our son napped and didn’t reply to a text that she sent, my phone was on vibrate and I rarely check my phone when I’m doing something outside the house, it’s just getting some alone time for myself.
Today I told her that I needed to get cat food because we were out, she said “you really want to go to the store?” I explain to her I just like getting out of the house even if it’s with our 2yo.
To cut it short she accused me of going out for “extra curricular activities” and the way she said it sounded like being accused of cheating. I told her sister and her mother about this and they both know she a little off her rocker at times.
I’ve recently been thinking about how easy life was before marriage, I love my kids, and my wife when she acts normal. Some people say they think my wife is bipolar or has some sort of mental issues. I wouldn’t disagree sometimes. But man my life would be cake by myself, even with child support. But this isn’t the first time this issue came up.
And for the record, I’ve been faithful out entire relationships. I purposely don’t talk to other women if I don’t have to just to avoid this issue.
What are some thoughts on this. Anyone ever deal with similar issues? How did you handle it. I would try talking to her, but it’s normally like putting water on an oil fire.

Just curious if anyone else has heard back about their AAPR flight cancellation claim?
My girlfriend and I were left stranded in Phoenix on May 18th because our flight home was cancelled. We submitted a claim and just got a response back saying that the cancellation was out of WestJets control and our claim was denied. Our flight was scheduled to leave around noon on May 18th which was before any strike could've occurred and I don't see how WestJet can claim this decision was out of their control. We are not going to accept this response from them as we had to pay much more than expected to get home.
I'm guessing we aren't the only ones that are going to hear this same thing from them.

I’ve received multiple letters from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court from the Souther District of Florida, Fort Lauderdale Division. Some background- I live in NJ and I had entered a rehabilitation facility in late 2021 also located in NJ. At the time I was working and my stay was covered by my medical insurance (I no longer work for the company) I completed the program. I never paid anything out of my pocket, as I said medical insurance through the company covered it all.
Fast forward to March 2023 I start receiving letters from FL bankruptcy court. I can’t deduce what any of them state clearly but from what I understand the facility I stayed at filed for bankruptcy. From the most recent letter it looks like the matter was handled May 15th.
Anyway, my question is is there anything I need to do? Do I stand to get any kind of refund or does that go to my previous employe insurance company? Are they making me aware of this matter because they legally have to? Should I just get rid of all the letters?

I 25F was talking to this guy 23M for almost two years. We never decided to be exclusive or anything as we both live in different states. He works a full time job plus two side hustles so he’s always busy. That wasn’t too much of a problem for me as he isn’t obligated to talk to me. But he did his best to always shower me with words of affection and affirmations. He was the first to proclaim his love for me. Reassured me that I can come to him whenever I was down and needed to vent, even when he was busy. He was the positivity to my negativity. Things changed after I went to visit him for the second time. I planned the visit a month and a half in advance. He knew I was coming and we were so excited to see each other again. The trip didn’t go too well. The five days I was there, I saw him for a day and a half. On my last night there, he decided to pick up a shift…I didn’t mind as I wasn’t feeling too good from a hangover and wanted to rest. He was supposed to come back later in the evening so we could spend the last few hours together before my flight the next morning..instead, he went to one of his side hustle jobs afterwards and left me. Reached out to me one time to see how I was feeling, told me he would try to come back, and then I didn’t hear from him again until the next morning. He apologized profusely, said he didn’t mean to prioritize his work over me, that he was just so stressed about meeting a deadline, and that he would make it up to me “eventually”
I was disappointed and hurt, but told him it was fine, that maybe we just need space to focus on our own things…he didn’t write back. In fact, I didn’t hear from him until the next day after I got home. By then, I had expressed that it was best we just back off a bit from each other to allow myself to gather my feelings and thoughts and so he could focus on what he needed to do. He wrote back apologizing again, saying I had the right to be upset and that he’s just struggling to juggle everything he’s doing and maintain his stress. Which I get. He has a lot going on and I don’t ever make him feel like he has to drop what he’s doing for me. Even if it bothers me. But this time, I felt kind of abandoned.
Our communication lessened..and I was missing him so much. But knowing that his work comes before anything, I was worried it would happen again. So I explained this to him. I also let him know that I support him with his goals and endeavors, just will do it from a distance for now. And if we come back together, then we do. He told me how much he cared about me and my feelings, how he wanted to keep this connection we had and how losing me will be a a big loss for him. I told him I cared about him too and would love to have him in my life still, but it seemed like I was just adding too much to his already full plate…
It’s been almost a week since that conversation and I haven’t heard from him again. I’m sad and confused because one minute, he wants me around, even just as friends, and then the next, I’m ghosted. It just feels like I was lied to and strung along..
How do you get over this? Will it hurt forever? My attempts to reach out to him have been ignored and I don’t want to keep trying if this is the decision he’s made. I know I can’t force anyone to stay in my life…but it still hurts nonetheless.
