2023.03.20 21:11 rhythmic_disarray Former employer [TX] unresponsive over missed HSA deposit from 2022 and I can’t really file my taxes until it is resolved.
I was employed by a company in Texas (but I am located in Oregon) until August of last year when I was laid off. I had a HDHP that made me eligible for a HSA account, which I continued through COBRA until the end of the year – making me eligible to max out my account for the year. After my final paycheck/severance cleared, I made a one time deposit to fully fund the account for the year (based on contribution numbers my bank provided) and then immediately reimbursed myself which emptied the account.
When I began filing my taxes, the HSA contribution amount listed on my W2 was higher than I expected. When I added in my additional contributions, the combined number exceeded my limit for the year. I knew that I had done my math correctly when fully funding the account, so I began combing through the listed transactions at my bank compared to my paycheck deductions. Lo and behold, I found a paycheck where the contribution was deducted from my pay but was not deposited into my account. Because the account is empty, I have no way of withdrawing my excess contribution.
I called the bank to see if it was an issue on their end, but as expected, the transaction was not in their system. I then reached out to HR explaining that the contribution was missed and I needed an amended W2 as well as a check for the amount deducted from my paycheck that I did not receive. They responded saying they’d look into it. I have followed up weekly asking for an update and at first they were responding with a generic “oh we’re still trying to figure it out,” but have not responded in almost a month. My first email was over 6 weeks ago.
I’m kind of at a loss for what to do at this point. I’m attempting to find a phone number to try and reach out that way, but so far no luck. I know I still have a little bit of time before I actually have to file my taxes, but I don’t feel hopeful it’ll actually get resolved based on the interactions I’ve had with them during this issue and previous ones. Do I just start emailing them more frequently to annoy them into solving it? Do I bite the bullet and just accept that I’ll have to pay the excess contribution penalty? Do I escalate by mentioning legal action and hope they don’t call my bluff? (the missing amount is only ~150, so it really wouldn’t be worth it). Something else?
If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. This has been beyond frustrating for me – I just want to never have to deal with this company again.

2023.03.20 21:10 ThrowRAsupercat I'm (30f) really hurt at how a work college (45f) spoke to me at an event.
A lady was at a work event today who I spent a few months working with not long ago. She was always very nice to me and said I did well. I was excited to see her again. After the time we worked together I sent her and the others there a 'Thank you' and she emailed saying she really enjoyed working together. I know we weren't 'friends' as she's very much my superior but I thought we were on friendly terms.
At the event I spoke to all of the others, and saw her chatting to other people.
At the end she was at a table handing out brochures. She saw me but then looked down and ignored me. I said Hi and smiled and she did a very quick glance then looked away but said "Hi how are you?" I said "Yeah good thanks you?" She sharply and rapidly said "Good good good" like ushered me off and said "Hi how are you" to the next person. Like she wanted me to leave asap.
It kinda hurt. I feel I did something wrong but everyone else was fine with me. I don't know why she talked to everyone else apart from me, or why she shooed me off like that. Literally nothing has happened since the very nice "Thank you" email 2 months ago. I know I can't dwell on it but it's confusing. I just want to know the reason. Has she just forgot me or was I sadly just a number to her?
I'm a girl btw this was just a work situation with someone I admired in a work context.
TL:Dr: College I trained with for months last year seemed unhappy to see me at a work do. I don't know why and it's hurt.

2023.03.20 21:10 Big-Statistician4024 Comex update 3/20/2023
| The obscured truth is usually what we the people get as the official narrative. For example, the official press release stated "The 146-year-old LME revealed the issues with nickel related to bagged nickel briquettes, which were found to not have the correct weight". They didn't lie in their statement, but the truth of the matter is that the 54 tonnes of nickel were found to be roughly 54 tonnes of nickel short as they were actually common stones. In September 2022, the Perth Mint publicly acknowledged it was addressing "historic non-compliance issues" with the US laws and had self-reported the issue to US regulators. But what it failed to mention was that those potential breaches dated back nearly 25 years and covered around 1,500 accounts holding USD $254 million worth of precious metals on behalf of clients. In September 2021, The Shanghai Gold Exchange raised concerns about two gold bars they had found that were non-compliant with its standards of 99.99% purity. The Perth Mint addressed the concerns regarding the two bars but didn't disclose the broader issue about how they had been doping their metals for at least several years. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation conducted an investigation and alleged that the sovereign mint has been selling diluted gold bars to China for three years and tried to cover it up when it was discovered. This is what was heard in the news a couple of weeks ago. News like this usually comes to light in clusters, so expect more of these types of occurrences to come. How does this relate to our forum? - Comex depositories aren't necessarily as physically transferrable and in total of what is claimed. I think we all know this of the padding they do for ETFs by including them in inventory to imply that it actually could be made available for sale if needed. Also, it has been tracked on this forum that platinum and palladium sales are made from depositories with only registered inventory or less eligible than is sold- but are not removed from the registered category- proof positive that the numbers publicly released are inflated when compared to the actual levels.
- What is really in Fort Knox and other government holdings? Considering their absolute stance on disallowing any physical audits for the past 60 years- do you dare trust those people won't be the next domino in this line-up of corruption and overstating of actual inventory on-hand?
- It shows you that what you are buying from a mint might not necessarily be as pure as they say. It's good to randomly test the precious metals you buy so you can address it now rather than when you go to sell or barter later. Ping testers are the cheapest and quickest options for verification.
- Remember when Germany asked for just 300 tons of their gold back and was told it would take 7 years to deliver? If you have physical inventory being held in a depository of any type, be it Comex, Kitco, etc, you do have a right to request proof of it's existence or request delivery of part or all of it.
Of all the mistruths out there, there are several things we can be certain of: There is far less platinum and silver available in the world than they are telling us. There is far more gold in some parts of the world than they are telling us. There is far less gold in some parts of the world than they are telling us. There is exactly as much inventory in our physical possession that we think there is, maybe more if you stack more than you count. On to today's numbers- Palladium had 9 contracts opened for the March contract. These will likely stand for delivery in the next week. While it doesn't sound like much, it's equal to 2.5% of the registered inventory. That brings us up to a total of 43 contracts still pending for March. If the physical inventory gets much lower, they might have to start cutting the contracts in half to 50 oz increments like platinum trades with in order to spread it out across more buyers. CNT Depository had all their eligible inventory moved out of the vault which represents 15.6% of their total inventory and 1% of the Comex total inventory. https://preview.redd.it/6vt1bhsw5yoa1.png?width=1548&format=png&auto=webp&s=d175df5121f13b5430ab69fec1ac5a8fcd2b3319 Now to platinum- JPM made a very bold move today by moving 96.5% of their entire eligible inventory over to registered (available for sale). Back in December, we saw +230% of the JPM platinum inventory turned by customer accounts without a single physical inventory transaction. In fact, JPM's registered inventory has been completely silent since 10/4/2022- until today's report. https://preview.redd.it/h6txtq5u6yoa1.png?width=1540&format=png&auto=webp&s=3d200b4a216b1fe8f8b54415a8e513173951701e Their eligible inventory has also been quiet for exactly 5 months. https://preview.redd.it/7o7stzw97yoa1.png?width=1490&format=png&auto=webp&s=b848aab28e5fc373b2a10a332664674ad44268ac It is possible that all of that inventory will be sold and moved out of their vault. If that happens we could be looking at the last gasp for this market. If all of this moved inventory ends up departing the vault, then JPM's total inventory will drop to the star on the graph below and they will have only 4,815 oz in total inventory, moving them to a distant 6th place. https://preview.redd.it/dvwam5ysayoa1.png?width=1540&format=png&auto=webp&s=e65d29f0a4585b3399cd689d57431e5af978402e Shortly before the October active contract, they moved most of their registered into eligible. Now they are doing the reverse. The timing is significant considering first notice date is next week. Is someone being squeezed by the bank failures and needs to raise some capital? Coming full circle now to the original topic of this post (fraud): How can a depository turn all of their eligible (not for sale inventory) without a single inventory transaction or movement into sellable? How can a depository turn +230% of their inventory in a single month and still be solvent? How long do they expect the public to believe what they are saying about what is going on behind the scenes for the venue that sets the global price for precious metals when we see the fraud with our own eyes? I'll have more on the possible implications of this move tomorrow. submitted by Big-Statistician4024 to wallstreetplatinum [link] [comments] |
2023.03.20 21:10 JohnDGardner Destroy your equipment? Let me gather an audience
TL;DR: a customer thought he knew better than me and insisted I perform a destructive test to prove me wrong. I wasn't wrong.
Background: I used to test circuit breakers for a living. The large industrial versions of what you have in your home electric panel. Like the ones at home, most industrial circuit breakers have two means of detecting an over-current condition: thermal (literally an element that heats up for seconds or minutes before opening the beaker, intended for small to moderate over-current events) and magnetic (reacts almost instantly to very high over-current events). For special applications like fire fighting pumps, you can buy circuit breakers which have magnetic only. Test methods are specified by the manufacturer and by the interNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA)
Out tale: I was testing a large number of circuit breakers at a customer facility. Customer rep (C) got used to my pattern of testing a group of thermal elements, allowing them to cool down, and only then testing the magnetic elements. When the fire pump circuit breaker came to my test station and I only tested it for magnetic trip, he objected. (C) Hey, why did you skip the thermal? (Me) This is a magnetic only breaker. (C) There's no such thing (Me) Here's the manufacturer data showing the magnetic trip curve but not showing a thermal trip curve. (C) That doesn't mean it doesn't have a thermal trip. I want it tested. (Me) Oh...kay, well, since I don't have a curve from the manufacturer, I don't know how long it should take to trip. How long do you want me to test? (C) The NETA testing manual says that without a curve, if it trips in less than 300 seconds it is good (Me) Please sign here that you're making me do this test (C) Okay (signs the paper, not realizing this was supposed to make him suspicious)
Having failed my first attempt to scare him off this foolish path, I try another tactic
(Me, on radio) Hey, coworker, I'm about to test the thermal element on a fire pump breaker, you want to watch? (Coworker) It doesn't have one, idiot, you're gonna destroy the customer's breaker! (Me) Yeah, I told him that, he doesn't believe me (Coworker) ...... I'm on my way
Coworker arrives and goes to explain to the customer but.....
(C) You're both wrong, I'm an engineer and you're just technicians, do the test (Coworker) We're gonna need you to sign... (C) I ALREADY SIGNED, JUST DO THE TEST
So I start the test. All morning, the previous thermal tests have been running 8 to 10 seconds before tripping. For this test, 10 seconds pass, then 20, then at 30 the breaker starts to smoke a little, and by 40 seconds the smoke is pouring out of it and my hand is hovering over the STOP button. But I'm not stopping until he admits he's wrong, because he told me it wouldn't be a failed test until 300 seconds. He gives in just before the 60 second mark.
Then I ask "Can you bring me the spare breaker from inventory please, this one cannot go back into service" and his face takes on a panicked expression. THEY DIDN'T HAVE A SPARE!
Good thing the local electrical distributor was open on a Saturday

2023.03.20 21:09 GoldenScoob Which actor appears in the most bonafide classics?
Ever since I heard The Rewatchables/Big Pic episodes discussing “The GOAT” actor and seeing David jump into the discussion on Twitter saying Fennessey is crazy to say it’s Tom Cruise over Hanks, I’ve been trying to figure out whose careers are genuinely the most impressive.
One way I’ve been thinking about it is the number of times an actor has a substantial role in a bonafide classic (non-cameo in a film most people have heard of and seen). Pacino, De Niro, Nicholson all seem to land in the 6-7 range. Hanks gets to about 7, but I do think Cruise might have the most: A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire, Mission Impossible, Rain Man, Minority Report, Top Gun, Eyes Wide Shut, Maverick.
Now you’re mileage might vary on some of those choices but the crazy thing about Cruise is you can reasonably sub in some of your own personal favorites to get 8-9 classics: Any other Mission Impossible, The Firm, Magnolia, Collateral, War of the Worlds, The Color of Money (less well known maybe but deserves to be iconic) and maybe even Risky Business. This guys career is insane!!
Does anyone’s career come close to this?

I have only fired both knives a handful of times that appear to be in unused condition. In the interest of transparency, the previous owner mentioned that he dropped the UTX 70 and there is a very very small knick on one corner by the clip in the cerakote. Tried to get the knick in the video but it was very hard to get it to show up. These were produced in 2019 and this is S/N 301. Everything shown in video is included, the Cypher, the UTX-70, both in CTS-204P, 3 gold plated continental coins, the pencil and the awesome serial numbered Pelican hard case. I have enjoyed flipping it a few times but I've come to the determination its a little too big for my liking. It appears to be in a unused/new condition. Blade is a perfectly centered CTS-204P Tanto style with some amazing compound grind work. Lock up is at about 30% with no blade play. The action is about as good as I have seen on any knife. As most of us on here know, Reate knows how to make one hell of a knife. Knife comes with pouch, baggie, microfiber cloth and patch. These were $645.00 new, looking for SV $450.00. 2023.03.20 21:09 funkycct Went to the dealership unprepared and somewhat desperate for a new car. Did I get a good deal?
Decided to make a reddit account just to post my first dealership experience after lurking this sub for some time .
Walked into a dealership and pretty much violated every internet “rule” about negotiating. TLDR told them I was “ready to buy now“. I even told the salesman I “was hoping to be his easiest car sell ever“
I told him I didn’t have a specific car I wanted, just a reliable sedan. He showed me a few cars, I settled for a used 2019 Honda civic with 60K miles and sticker price was 19k.
I asked what the OTD price was, he estimated 23-24k. I told him if he can bring the OTD price to 20k he would have a deal.
We started negotiating, I managed to get the vehicle price to 18k. I took every fee out but dealership fee, tax , ect. OTD price was 21k-ish
I traded in a Ford in rough condition. Truecar estimated my car value to be 3-4k. Had 103,000 miles not issues just some cosmetic damage from a fender bender. I only got 1.5k for my trade in.
I put $2000 as a down payment plus 1.5k trade in. When the salesperson asked me what I wanted my monthly payment to be I gave him a realistic number $300-$350.
I’m 22, Income is $4800 a month. Been working for 3 years. Unfortunately, had a horrible timing with my credit, and two weeks before I went into the dealership, my credit utilization went up, and also closed an old account which caused my CK score to drop from 721 to 705. When dealership pulled my credit it was at 694(I was shocked)
I was initially offered a loan with a 18.45% APR, I kindly told them that “no way in hell I was gonna sign that” and that they had one more try to sell me this vehicle or I was going to leave if they came with an insane APR and finance with my bank. I told I was going to wait, and while waited I called up my bank and immediately got a loan approved for 8.5%, I showed it to the dealership and they were able to beat it . I got a 7.5% APR for a used car.
When I left the dealership I thought I didn’t get a horrible deal, but not great one either . After reading this sub a bit more. I now think I got a decent deal for someone in my position.
Only 2k as down payment . My credit history is/was great, just bad timing . My credit age is 4 years old with 6 lines of credit but don’t have any previous auto loans. Monthly payments are $381 with GAP.
I was expecting an APR in the 5-8% , but I didn’t take other things into consideration . Seems like low-mid double digits is almost average for someone like me nowadays .
So did I end up getting a good deal?

2023.03.20 21:09 Kristiecsu Teva round ambien 10 mg doesn’t work as well?
I’ve been taking ambien for over a decade for primary insomnia. It’s always worked really well, never had any issues, and I’ve long since stopped getting that loopy feeling when the ambien kicks in. Instead, I just get relaxed and sleepy and then sleep pretty damn well. I’ve had a number of different generic ambien pills, usually white or orange oblong pills.
Recently I switched pharmacies, though, and the Safeway pharmacy uses round pills that say TEVA on one side and 74 on the other. I’ve taken them 3 nights in a row now, and each night they just…fail to kick in at all, and I’m having to supplement them with unisom and melatonin.
I know generics are supposed to be the same basic active ingredients as the real thing, but these just seem to suck. Has anyone else had issues with this brand of generic ambien? Am I nuts?

2023.03.20 21:09 WhoCaresNotUs Mortgage servicer will not generate a 1098 mortgage interest form.
Hello, We are stuck on where to go next. Our new mortgage servicer refuses to issue us a 1098 form. I have been back and forth with them a number of times so far and have even contacted the IRS taxpayer advocate for advice. Their reasoning is because its in a trust.
The house was put into "this is key" a revocable trust Not a irrevocable trust. This was done in 2015 and was done to avoid probate court as my wife bought the house before we were married.
The current servicer is PHH mortgage based in NJ. They refuse to generate the 1098 form because on the 1098 form its states that they don't have to issue one because its in a trust. they actually quoted the paragraph directly from the form. below.
https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1098.pdf "Exceptions You need not file Form 1098 for interest received from a corporation, partnership, trust, estate, association, or company (other than a sole proprietor) even if an individual is a co-borrower and all the trustees, beneficiaries, partners, members, or shareholders of the payer of record are individuals. "
If you actually read the IRS documentation below a revocable trust isn't recognized as a trust as defined in the info on the 1098 instruction page. So I can see where they are coming from, but its wrong. The trust documentation has a SS number not an EIN number. The previous two servicers generated 1098 form as well as 1099 INT forms ever year. PHH even generated a 1099 INT for this year as well. Hell they even generated a 1098 last year.
https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/abusive-trust-tax-evasion-schemes-questions-and-answers " Q: What is a grantor trust?
A: "Grantor trust" is a term used in the Internal Revenue Code to describe any trust over which the grantor or other owner retains the power to control or direct the trust's income or assets. If a grantor retains certain powers over or benefits in a trust, the income of the trust will be taxed to the grantor, rather than to the trust. (Examples, the power to decide who receives income, the power to vote or to direct the vote of the stock held by the trust or to control the investment of the trust funds, the power to revoke the trust, etc.) All "revocable trusts" are by definition grantor trusts. An "irrevocable trust" can be treated as a grantor trust if any of the grantor trust definitions contained in Internal Code §§ 671, 673, 674, 675, 676, or 677 are met. If a trust is a grantor trust, then the grantor is treated as the owner of the assets, the trust is disregarded as a separate tax entity, and all income is taxed to the grantor."
"Q: What are irrevocable/revocable trusts?
A: An irrevocable trust is a trust, which, by its terms, cannot be modified, amended, or revoked. For tax purposes an irrevocable trust can be treated as a simple, complex, or grantor trust, depending on the powers listed in the trust instrument. A revocable trust may be revoked and is considered a grantor trust (IRC § 676). State law and the trust instrument establish whether a trust is revocable or irrevocable. If the trust instrument is silent on revocability, then most states consider the trust revocable."
The taxpayer advocate said they don't have instructions for forcing a servicer to produce a 1098 as they do for W2 forms so they told us to estimate and save the mortgage statements in case of audit. I suspect we will eventually because there will be no matching 1098 on file with the IRS and we are clamming the mortgage interest as a deduction.
So as I understand this, a revocable trust is a grantors trust so the 1098 must be generated as the guarantor is responsible for all taxes? Do we have any avenue to force the issue further?
Thanks

Infernal Calling, Bigby’s Hand Channel Divinity
When you take this Sacred Oath at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Sleight of Hand (or, if you already have it, one other skill of your choice), as well as the following two Channel Divinity options.
Hostile Takeover. As an action, you point with a free hand to a creature within 60ft and attempt to magically steal an item it is wearing or carrying that you can see. You make a Charisma (Sleight of Hand) check contested by a Strength saving throw made by the target, which has advantage on the roll if the item is magical. If you succeed, the object is ripped from their body and flies directly into your hand. If the object is nonmagical you may then magically transform it into money of equivalent value, which is then transferred directly to your inventory, if you wish. This version of Channel Divinity cannot be used on an object that would need to be disassembled or unfastened in some way to be removed from the target, such as armor or laced shoes.
Business Accumen. As a bonus action, you can use your Channel Divinity to augment your ability to make profit. For the next 10 minutes, you have advantage on Persuasion and Deception checks; automatically know the value and quality of any and all common goods at first glance and can tell if any currency/coinage/money in sight is counterfeit.
Resource Reallocation
Starting at 7th level, Whenever an enemy starts it’s turn within 10ft of you, it takes 1 force damage. You then start your next turn with a number of temp hp equal to the total force damage you have dealt this way since your last turn.
The range of this aura increases to 30ft at 18th level.
Executive Bonus
Starting at 15th level, you have an additional number of attunement slots equal to half your charisma modifier, can attune or unattune to a given magic item as an action, and have a +1 bonus to initiative rolls for every magic item you are currently attuned to.
El Dorado
Starting at 20th level, your all-consuming avarice and skill at acquisition transcend all bounds. You can use your action to turn your skin and armor the shining color of gold and gain the following benefits for 1 hour:
- Your carrying capacity has no upper limit
- Your arms lengthen, extending your reach by 5ft
- You have advantage on all Charisma checks.
- You score a critical hit on a 20 roll of 19 or 20.
- Whenever you score a critical hit, the target must pass a Charisma save or take additional force damage equal to a number of d10s equal to your Cha mod. A creature killed by this effect is petrified into solid silver.

2023.03.20 21:08 supasupacoo I'm a 24F who does not eat any fruits or vegetables, and never has
TW: mentions weight and BMI numbers, talks about weight gain, suffering while eating, etc.
Seriously, it's been MONTHS since the last time I remember having a piece of fruit or a vegetable. My diet has been this way, especially as an adult.
I'm 5'9, and weigh 220 pounds, which is the highest I've ever weighed. My current BMI is 32.5 (obese). I really don't look my weight, though I've always been on the larger side as I come from a bigger German family. When I've told people in the past that I don't eat any fruits or vegetables, I've gotten comments like "what? how are you not HUGE??" and stuff.
Now, as I get older, the weight gain is getting more obvious. I feel it more, too. I've always fluctuated between 190-210, as I sometimes go through periods of time where I avoid food for most of the day when it starts to stress me out. It isn't intentional, but it happens.
My mental health, my motivation, and my energy levels have ALWAYS been lower than everyone else. I'm almost positive it's because I get almost no nutrition. My diet literally only consists of: a quad latte in the mornings with oatmilk and a TON of nutella, smuckers uncrustables, general tso's frozen chicken entrees but with no sauce (just plain), string cheese, sister schuberts dinner yeast rolls, rotini pasta either plain with butter or vodka sauce, and occasionally fried rice with soy sauce, oil, and eggs. I eat almost nothing else, and eat these things in various large quantities throughout the day. I order EVERYTHING without veggies. No peas or carrots in the fried rice, no chunks of tomato/veggies in the Vodka sauce (i strain it before putting it on my pasta), etc.
I've tried "sneaking" veggies into my food. I can ALWAYS taste the difference. I've tried the Nurture Life meal kit that is supposed to sneak nutrition into meals for children. Nothing works. I lose my entire appetite any time I try to eat something healthier, my mouth gets dry, and I'd literally rather not eat at all. When I try to eat something different than normal, it just tastes awful and feels like pure suffering. I end up eating nothing (not even on purpose, I just continuously "push off" eating) until I cave and buy something from the above list.
I'm going to therapy already, but we mainly focus on other aspects of my life (trust me, I know food is a priority, but there are other priorities too and we HAVE talked about it). I know I should probably go to a nutritionist, but I don't have enough faith in myself to trust that I'd actually eat what they suggest. I've looked at other reddit posts from people asking "how to start eating fruits and veggies?" and "how to get fruit and vegetable nutrients without eating fruits or vegetables" but the replies are always the same; that there's no other real options other than to just eat them. I know that's the truth, but it's just so discouraging.
I don't know, I came here hoping to get some advice and maybe even to hear some success stories from other adults who have conquered this, but I really think I just need to vent in a space where hopefully there are others who understand. It's a basic necessity that is a constant struggle, and I just wish I didn't have to spend so much of my energy towards worrying about food.
Thanks a lot, sending love <3

2023.03.20 21:08 lizardkeys Ndad sent flowers after NC?
I recently had to go cold NC for my ndad because of being emotionally abused for pretty much all of my life. (he seperated from my healthy mom when i was 4. He was abusive toward her too.) but he has been lurking around my life ever since, taking credit for raising me and my achievements when he never contributed in any way to me or my mom.
I'm 29 now and I decided to block him on all phone contact last week. It was extremely painful but i knew in my heart i needed to do this. The last thing I told him was that "I needed space."
Today (mybday), he sent a huge pot of flowers to my door with a balloon. I felt so disgusted im debating on throwing it out or repurposing it and giving it to my mom.
I heard and read this 'hoovering' thing is just going to get worse....Is that true? How can I combat this, or respond emotionally? a gift like this from a regular person, I would have been grateful but from him, I see it as a complete insult and a 'how dare you leave me' type of message....
I'm preparing to change my number.

2023.03.20 21:07 KenGriffinsBedpost Media Confusion on Regional vs National Bank Risks
Repost from last week. I feel like this is important to know and if you read this originally you weren't surprised by the UBS buyout. Again just facts no opinion but you can decide for yourself who is facing more risks, Regional or National Banks. I know what the media wants you to believe.
"Better to be a depositor than an unsecured creditor"
Ok guys, this isn't GME specific but with all the bank posts I wanted to compile what has been discussed in some higher level discussions I've had this week.
There is a number of issues facing these banks and a lot of confusion out there so wanted to relay what I've heard over the past week.
Regional Banks
Main risks are Deposit Velocity, Deposit Diversity and Duration of investments. The backstop the Fed created takes away majority of these risks. By allowing banks to exchange their long duration assets that have been hammered for a face value 1 year loan, it takes Duration of Investment risk out of the equation.
Deposit velocity (bank runs) and Deposit Diversity (don't have a few clients who can pull 42 billion in an hour) are the biggest risks which after the backstop aren't that big of a risk.
National Banks
They are worried about the effect of Credit Suisse on the large money center banks. Most likely scenarios for Credit Suisse. Remember, banking is Switzerland, they will likely not let them fail.
- Swiss National Bank securing depositors and leaving CS to attempt to survive
- Forced merger with another Swiss Bank (UBS) Switzerland unlikely to allow merger with non-swiss bank
- Forced sale of parts of business (wealth management strong)
All of those really suck for unsecured creditors (large banks) their biggest risks are below
- Direct exposure (Investment directly in CS)
- Credit exposure (leant money to CS)
- Counterparty risk
The Counterparty risks banks themselves likely don't know full exposure. It involves going through books of every family office, hedge fund or other subsidiary.
Not a quick or cheap fix to mitigate Counterparty risk. If they want it quickly they can sell and reenter the contract but taking the bid and buying ask means they are eating the spread (incur loss)
They can try and find central Counterparty to clear but takes longer and exposed until settlement.
Final way is to buy credit default swaps.
That's it. Don't want to get into opinions here but if Swiss National Bank doesn't backstop it would ripple through markets quickly setting up a prisoners dilemma.

2023.03.20 21:07 primelensdude 37 [M4F] Deep tissue tantric massage for those who are constantly sore! #BayArea
Hey there, let me ask you a question or two!
Are you constantly sore from working out, or from being on your feet all day?
Tell me this, how much do you generally pay for a massage to fix the soreness? $100?
How much would you pay if you knew the masseuse had really strong hands?
How much would you be willing to tack on if your masseuse knew deep tissue, as well as tantric massage techniques (compress and caress... compress and caress..) ?
Would you be willing to pay extra if your masseuse was handsome, athletic, tall?
How much of a premium would you pay for a masseuse that was Ivy League educated and could banter with you on a number of topics?
Or would you pay extra for him to be quiet and instead bring a great playlist to listen to while the soreness was rubbed out of you?
Would you give an amazing tip if you knew that your masseuse has one goal and only one goal - which is to maximize your pleasure? Using his hands, tongue, fingers, palm.
What if I told you that the right person could have all of the above for free
**? I'm dead serious.**
What's the catch, you might ask? There is just one - you. You are the catch!
As someone famous sang - "the best things in life are free".

2023.03.20 21:07 Personal_Animal I asked AI to write a prompt where Parvati meet Janelle from Big Brother. Here is how it went. I thought it was too funny what the AI wrote not to post.
Janelle Piernza and Parvati Shallow were both well-known reality TV contestants. Janelle had appeared on multiple seasons of the hit show Big Brother, while Parvati had made her mark on Survivor.
One day, while attending a reality TV convention, the two women found themselves waiting in line for coffee. They struck up a conversation, and soon realized that they had a lot in common.
"I loved watching you on Survivor," Janelle said, smiling at Parvati. "You were such a fierce competitor."
"Thanks," Parvati replied, returning the smile. "I always admired your gameplay on Big Brother too. You were so strategic and smart."
The two women chatted for a while about their respective experiences on reality TV. They talked about the challenges they faced on the shows, the alliances they formed, and the friendships they made.
"It's crazy how much our lives have changed since being on these shows," Janelle said, sipping her coffee. "I never would have guessed that I'd be here, meeting fans and talking about my experience on Big Brother."
"I know, right?" Parvati agreed. "It's been a wild ride, but I wouldn't trade it for anything."
As they finished their coffee, the two women exchanged numbers and promised to keep in touch. They hugged, both grateful for the chance to meet someone who understood what it was like to be a reality TV contestant.
As Janelle walked away, she couldn't help but feel a sense of connection with Parvati, and with all the other reality TV contestants she had met that day. Despite the drama and tension that often came with the territory, there was something special about being a part of that world, and Janelle was grateful for the experiences it had brought her.
As Janelle and Parvati continued to chat, they suddenly noticed two familiar faces in the crowd. It was Russell Hantz from Survivor and Paul Abrahamian from Big Brother, both known for their villainous behavior on their respective shows.
Janelle and Parvati exchanged a worried glance, knowing that things could quickly escalate with these two in the mix.
Russell spotted Parvati and sauntered over. "Well, well, well, if it isn't the Black Widow herself," he said with a smirk. "I didn't expect to see you here."
Parvati bristled at the nickname, but tried to remain calm. "Hi, Russell. What brings you to this convention?"
"I'm here to remind people that I'm the greatest Survivor player of all time," Russell said. "And to remind you that you never would have won if it wasn't for me."
Meanwhile, Paul had approached Janelle. "Hey, Janelle," he said, a sly grin on his face. "I heard you're still trying to ride your Big Brother fame. What, couldn't make it in the real world?"
Janelle rolled her eyes. "Nice to see you too, Paul. I'm just here to meet fans and have some fun. What's your excuse?"
Paul shrugged. "I'm always looking for ways to stay relevant. You know how it is."
The tension in the air was palpable as the four reality TV veterans stood facing each other. Janelle and Parvati both knew that they needed to diffuse the situation before things got out of hand.
"Look, we're all here because we love reality TV," Parvati said, trying to sound conciliatory. "Why don't we all just try to enjoy the convention and leave the drama at the door?"
Russell and Paul exchanged a glance, but surprisingly, they both nodded in agreement. "Fine," Russell said with a shrug. "For now."
As the two villains walked away, Janelle and Parvati exchanged a relieved smile. They both knew that things could have gotten a lot worse, but they were glad that they were able to keep the peace. Even in the world of reality TV, it was always better to be kind than to feed the drama.

2023.03.20 21:06 androidchrist Hey chat, hey Wubby, thank you for the inspiration.
No pictures from me just yet. I am still extremely embarrassed by my size.
Last year in August I was 418 pounds. I was extremely depressed for a long time, and am still working on it, but with the help of this community I found it within myself to finally make a long overdue change. Using code Wubby at checkout, I replaced all sugary drinks with Gamer Supps. I started only keeping snacks that weren't bad for me in the house. I started taking walks, albeit short ones. All of this has culminated in today, weighing in at 358.7 pounds.
60 pounds. That is quite literally 1/7th of my starting weight, GONE. I have an exceptionally long way to go, but seeing that number on the scale today was a huge deal for me. Gamer Supps has definitely played a big role in my progress, so not only am I making a positive change for myself, I'm also lining the green man's pockets. It's a win/win.
Thanks, chat. Thanks, Wubby. I love you. Say it back.

2023.03.20 21:06 icygrave MacOS printer deployment with driver from Windows server
Hi all,
I work in IT for a university and I am going to be tasked with helping our networking team get all of our printers on the same vlan. This will not really affect our Windows users but... My main question is if anyone knows of a robust way to get MacOS to get a printer and it's drivers from a Windows server. Currently when our Mac devices are deployed our team just maps either the printer's host name or ip address and manually downloads the drivers for the printer. I am not sure on the exact number as of writing this but we probably have 500-700 Mac users on campus who will need printers mapped if they originally had their printers mapped with an ip address and not the host name. We can just make the changes and make a how to for our help desk and they will be able to handle the bulk of it but that does not seem very graceful. I was just curious if anyone has come across a way to something like this.
Thanks from a non senior TSS.

2023.03.20 21:06 Valuable-Banana96 I finally finished a complete draft of my Oath of Greed paladin. A warrior so covetous they can smite in the name of the allmighty dollar. Thoughts?
Oath of Greed
Paladins of the Oath of Greed literally only want one thing and it’s disgusting. Their avarice is so great that it is the very source of their powers, allowing them to smite in the name of the almighty dollar. They can be anything from wealthy moguls without a scrap of conscience, to simply particularly grabby adventurers in it for the loot.
Tenets of Greed
The tenets of the Oath of Greed give important advice anyone seeking to make a living in the world should heed.
- Take risks. The riskier the road, the greater the profit.
- Opportunism. If you see an opening, take it.
- Adapt to new situations. Peace is good for business, but so is war.
- Bail when you need to. Continuing on a futile task because of sunk costs will only lead to further sunk costs.
Oath Spells
You gain Oath spells at the Paladin levels listed.
Paladin Lv3:
Protection from Evil and Good, Unseen Servant Paladin Lv5:
Gift of Gab (Ac. Inc.), Jim’s Glowing Coin (Ac. Inc.) Paladin Lv9:
Incite Greed (Ac. Inc.), Motivational Speech (Ac. Inc.) Paladin Lv13:
Leomund’s Secret Chest, Control Water (geddit?) Paladin Lv17:
Infernal Calling, Bigby’s Hand Channel Divinity
When you take this Sacred Oath at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Sleight of Hand (or, if you already have it, one other skill of your choice), as well as the following two Channel Divinity options.
Hostile Takeover. As an action, you point with a free hand to a creature within 60ft and attempt to magically steal an item it is wearing or carrying that you can see. You make a Charisma (Sleight of Hand) check contested by a Strength saving throw made by the target, which has advantage on the roll if the item is magical.

- Whenever you score a critical hit, the target must pass a Charisma save or take additional force damage equal to a number of d10s equal to your Cha mod. A creature killed by this effect is petrified into solid silver.

2023.03.20 21:06 pugglesmagoojr An entry-level cold caller who realized he hates his life
Hey y’all,
I have been in the workforce for a little over 2 years now, and I am realizing that my “soft skills” (I.e. communication, listening, friendliness etc) are pretty much the only things I bring to the table as far as a successful salesman go. I hate selling. More specifically, I hate selling in conjunction with my companies guidelines, which requires me to spam my leads with an insane number of calls over a short period in order to “strike while the irons hot”. Look, I wouldn’t want to talk to me either. “Leads” is a very subjective term in my world as well, as I’m sure some of you who have downloaded tools from websites would attest to. I’m very middle of the pack as far as outputs go, and I’m sure my numbers would be better if I sucked it up and put my morality to the side.
Anyways, I am sick of feeling underutilized within my corporation and like a nuisance to prospective customers. I have finally realized that those “soft skills” I mentioned doesn’t destine me to a career in sales, and for sure not in the current capacity in which I’m selling.
My first question is personal: I have become interested in exploring a career in Event Services (where I can be relationship based and not sit behind a desk all day) and was wondering what tips/tricks I can use to find relevant opportunities.
Secondly, has anyone else in this sub come to the same conclusion about entry level sales (more specifically SaaS sales)? Where did you pivot to and what advice could you give me?
Thanks in advance to anyone who reaches out with guidance. I hate feeling the way I feel day in and day out and know deep down that I can find something where I feel like I matter and can make a positive impact in other peoples lives

2023.03.20 21:06 JayStev85 How big were Aqua Timez in their peak?
A lot of people may know Aqua Timez for their songs used in popular anime series like Naruto, Gintama and most notably, Bleach.
However, from what I’ve seen, Aqua Timez did have a lot of mainstream appeal in their peak in the mid-to-late 2000s. Their debut shifted over half a million copies and many of their singles charted in the Oricon Top 10. Their first best hits album reached Number 1 in Japan, released near what I saw as the end of their peak charts-wise.
How big were they in Japan? Were they a leading band at the time? Or were they a drop in the ocean? Would they be heard a lot around?
And another thing, how unique were they seen as? I’ve always thought their early fusion of hip hop and rock was refreshing and the vocalist has a very signature voice with great range.
Any help would be appreciated!

2023.03.20 21:06 pengox80 Critique for Simple Lottery Project Using Classes
I am still learning the ins and outs of classes and I think I am finally starting to understand them. I created the following code to represent a simple lottery system.
Since I am self studying, I am looking for feedback on if I am using any flawed logic, or if there are any things I should be considering when using classes that I may be misunderstanding.
#Currently, code does not check for an instance of a lottery with the same #draw_date. Work on having ticket instances match against lottery instances with #same draw date. Use dictionary for key to equal draw_date or create a class #attribute Draw-Date to store the winning list for comparison across classes? from random import randint class Lottery: """Official list of 20 possible picks for a Lottery.""" def __init__( self, draw_date, official_picks=[], winning_list=[], ): self.draw_date = draw_date self.official_picks = official_picks self.winning_list = winning_list def get_picks(self): self.official_picks=[ '20','3','8','u','f','16','45','e', 'x','43','72','34','5','34', ] get_four = 0 full_list = 14 self.winning_list = [] while get_four < 4: get_four += 1 random = randint(1,full_list) full_list -= 1 random -= 1 #Account for off-by-one index pick = self.official_picks.pop(random) self.winning_list.append(pick) return self.winning_list def announce_picks(self): active = True while active: if self.winning_list == []: self.get_picks() else: print( 'Here are the winning picks for ' f'{self.draw_date}.
