2023.06.07 10:56 grababitoblue Housing association has set up my rent account with someone else’s details

Hi all, I’m looking for a bit of advice on how I should be dealing with this situation as I’m not getting very far with a resolution going through the housing association themselves.
I moved out of my parents home in early 2021 to live alone in my first house with a housing association in the North West of England. They’ve honestly been nothing but problematic to get anything done, resulting in me having to go to my local council multiple times to get them to do anything helpful.
Thankfully I’m moving home in the next month and will no longer be renting with them. I have always paid my rent through direct debit monthly until now where I cancelled it to pay my rent manually so I wouldn’t be overcharged when I move as I’ll only be in this house for 2 weeks of July and not the whole month.
When I rang them to cancel the direct debit I was asked if I’d been at or will be moving to another address with them as my name was showing under 2 addresses which was bizarre as they’d never told me this before. I’d told them no as this is the only house I’ve ever been a tenant for so far in my life and I’m moving to a private rented property. They dismissed it as their system being weird and cancelled my direct debit as requested and I thought nothing of it.
After this was done I went ahead and paid a month’s rent in advance to cover me to near my tenancy end date and done this manually through the housing association’s website. On the website you have your own account associated to your current address, your housing officer’s name and you are assigned a payment reference number which is used to pay money into your rent account on the website or on the phone and is basically a long number similar to on a credit or debit card. You cannot edit any details on this account apart from your contact details.
Their online payment system automatically fills in your payment reference number as the account you will pay into for your property as this is pulled across from the details they’ve got on your account. I can only assume that someone has entered these when the account was created. You are also sent a payment card in the post with this number on when you move into your property.
I was getting concerned after a couple of days that the manual rent payment I made in advance was not showing on my account yet when they’re usually quite fast to show. Another odd thing was that the housing officer that is associated to my property had changed with nothing sent to me to say that they had changed over. This was important as well as I have a housing inspection with my housing officer very soon to sign paperwork and to check the property condition. So out of curiosity I grabbed my payment card and double checked the details on it compared to the details on my online account and have found that the payment reference numbers do not match, not even closely.
I contacted them about this and come across an issue instantly where they refused to initially speak to me about my tenancy as apparently I was not on it to have permissions. I’m the only one on my tenancy and have only ever been. Again turns out that apparently my name is showing under 2 addresses but they can’t tell me anything about it for reasons relating to security and data protection.
After about 45 minutes on the call they tell me that the payment reference number that’s been associated with my online account and auto fills for rent payments isn’t actually mine and is someone else’s and that my rent payment has gone to their account and not mine. They’re supposedly sorting this out to be corrected but are really dragging their heels about it and it has resulted in me now going into rent arrears.
Am I correct in believing that this is a breach of data protection as someone else’s payment details for their rent account has been associated with my account for me to see and pay into without my knowledge and most probably without theirs? I’ve mentioned this to them and they still aren’t getting into gear with resolving it quickly.
Any advice on how I should go about this or if I should just leave this to be resolved by them would be helpful as I’m fed up with them messing me about for the last time.

2023.06.07 10:36 dj_claudizzle My landlord sent this to me (June, 6, 2023.) I've already contacted lawyers and waiting on responses. What information can I legally gather from him to find out if this is real?

Their message reads:
"Hey [OP], it’s been brought to my attention, that I was sold this house illegally. It’s meant strictly for low housing income owners and the previous owner wasn’t allowed to sell it. Now they are foreclosing on him.
I know how hard this is to move and have to do it again. I’m genuinely sorry. I am losing my entire life savings that I put into this. I will prorate your rent as of today and credit that back along with full security deposit.
Looks like they are officially selling it June 21st. So you’ll have the next couple of weeks to find something. I found out recently and have been trying to fight with an attorney but looks like I’m out of luck."
My partner, roommate, and I have been living here for less than a month and the house has been renovated into two units. It feels strange to me that through the whole process of buying and renovation no one has said anything to them about the house being illegally sold.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had other people raising eyebrows when he said that his long-awaited superhero debut in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse would be the beginning of “a new era” for the DC Extended Universe naturally followed: What did he mean? And what would that kind of reset mean for the remainder of DCEU's roster, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the rest of the Justice League, Suicide Squad, Shazam and so on.As

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse neared theaters, though, Johnson clarified that statement in a recent sit-down with Yahoo Entertainment (watch above).

“I feel like this is our opportunity now to expand the DC Universe and what we have in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which I think is really cool just as a fan, is we introduce five new superheroes to the world,” Johnson tells us. 2023.06.07 10:24 onionchewer Landlord asking to do inspection 6 months after lease ended and tenant moved out. Unit has been sitting vacant for the full 6 months!

Hi all! This (super long) post is on the behalf of a couple friends living in Utah that are worried about a landlord who is asking to do a walkthrough of their former apartment, 6 months after they moved out.
During their time at this complex, there were numerous maintenance issues. For example: a sprinkler outside of one of their windows was broken, causing it to spray directly at the window, which also wasn’t sealed properly, which leaked into the living room. Landlord was informed, they didn’t fix the sprinkler OR the window but did acknowledge the complaint and asked them to stuff a towel into the window ledge, lol. Water was leaking through the ceiling from the unit upstairs into the bathroom, which caused a mold problem as well as the ceiling bubbling and chunks of it falling out. Landlord was informed of this issue as well, and I believe that they PARTIALLY remedied the issue, but the ceiling was still damaged at the end of it all, with the landlords just sort of pushing off that repair for an unknown later date (it wasn’t ever fixed, lol). There was a lot of other stuff I won’t bother to list since these two examples are the more worrisome ones, all of which the landlord or property manager were informed of and were either not repaired (but acknowledged!) or semi repaired in true landlord half assed fashion. After some complaints about the upstairs neighbors, (not something that the landlords were at fault for, just some serious noise and smell/neglect issues with pets and whatnot…this complex was a mess in so many regards) as well as all of the maintenance problems, the landlords had my friends sign a DIFFERENT lease and move into the unit across the hall to remedy both the complaints about the upstairs tenants, as well as get my buddies into a livable place and allow them to do repairs on an empty unit instead of an occupied one. New unit was fine, the building was old and rent was cheap so no one was gonna complain about general wear and tear as long as they could live a mold and leak free life.
So, my friends eventually find a killer deal on a cute little house that they decide to buy. The lease on the apartment was going to end in February, but everything with the house got finalized in January, so the landlord agreed to just end their lease a month early as a sort of apology for all the problems they’d had in their original unit. Landlord didn’t ask to do a move out inspection (or AGREE to do one at my friend’s request), and despite many contacts via texts and calls from my friends to the landlord and property manager, the deposit wasn’t ever returned, and they were never able to return their keys. My friends have a strong aversion to confrontation, didn’t want to continue pestering them, and were just tired of dealing with all the runaround, and I guess just never pursued the deposit or key thing very hard. This, of course, sucks, because now due to their lack of pursuance on the issue, they’re dealing with this latest problem.
The last (unanswered) communication was in February, it is now June, and they just got a text from the property manager asking for the keys to the apartment and to do an inspection, 6 months after their move out and termination of the lease. The unit has been vacant for these full 6 months, and my friends are very concerned that while it’s been empty some damage might have occurred that no one has been able to properly report, since it’s been empty for so long. The apartment had normal wear and tear upon move-out and was more than adequately deep cleaned, but based on their experiences with the last unit and with this complex in general, they’re worried.
So! What can they do in this situation? Do they have any rights that might allow them to get their deposit back? With no evidence of the condition of the apartment upon their move out 6 months ago, can they be charged for any potential random damage (my fear is something like the bathroom leak thing from the first unit) that might have occurred while the unit has been sitting empty?
Sorry for my extremely long post! I know, and they know, that they should have done more about the deposit and final inspection back when they first moved out, but what’s done is unfortunately done, and hindsight is 20/20. Thanks in advance, and any advice or help is sincerely appreciated.

2023.06.07 10:21 PandaRelevant8790 AITA for telling my roommate to get out for calling me fake.

I 18 female live with my 21 male boyfriend and his best friend and his soon to be ex girlfriend. I had just recently moved away from home with my boyfriend for his work and his best-friends also moved due to them working together. So we all moved in, the first could of days were normal but then I started to see let’s call her Kate my roommate being distant to her boyfriend let call him mark and over the couple weeks they started to drift and barely even speak to one another in this time Kate and I grew close. Started talking and hanging out more. Telling me about her relationship problems then it started getting out of hand she would comment on the way he looked saying he had gotten fat she isn’t attracted to him and many other vile things about her boyfriend at the time and this made me feel like I was in the middle because that’s my boyfriend’s best-friend so I’m having to keep all of this a secret from my partner because he will tell him best-friend so I was torn for a couple weeks and then the problems began that she wasn’t paying rent. She had moved and been here for two months without a job when I had gotten a job in under a week I would cook and she would eat it then never offer to cook and if she did it would only be for herself then her and her boyfriend got into an argument and they broke up and here’s where we get to the present time she has now been broken up with for about 4 days now the night they had broken up I had walked out of my room to get a glass of water to where I see mark on the couch so I sit with him and have a conversation with him about how he’s feeling about everything to where she has eavesdropped on our conversation then has proceeded to call me names and other extremities for speaking with him to where I brushed it off and left the situation then the next day I proceed to cook dinner for everyone besides her due to her being locked away in her room to then have her call me names once again for cooking him dinner. Then to message mark and call me such names again to him. Then she is refusing to leave even though she doesn’t pay rent nor has a job. We would’ve all helped her move and find a new place if she was being civil but she has become very hostile and unkind but now she is just making us all uncomfortable in our own home. I know she may not have anywhere to go but that isn’t our problem she would’ve been welcome but not with the behaviour she has shown and lastly today she has taken the key to our house which we only have two to our house so she has taken my key in which I need it to get inside when I finish work but she has taken and stolen the key so I can’t get into the house til mark and my boyfriend get home from work. I’ve given her til Friday to move out but am I being an asshole for kicking her to the curb because of her behaviour?

2023.06.07 10:21 Nearby_Ear2169 Risky or smart move?

My partner (23F) and I (23M) are imminently about to sign a building contract for a 530k house in WA. We have ~50k in savings and only need 5% for our deposit (26.5k) as we are taking advantage of the first home guarantee scheme. As it is a construction loan it is a variable loan. The bank has offered us a loan of 505k at an initial variable interest rate of 5.75%.
I am currently working full time on a salary of 80k per annum. However, my partner is finishing med school this year and should be starting full time work next year on approx 80-90k (including overtime), if everything goes to plan. Apart from her HECs debt, neither of us have personal loans or credit card debt. We are not currently renting and live at home. Whilst we are waiting for our house to build we should be able to save around 50k a year. We plan to pay interest only repayments for the first two years. We envision that this house will not be our forever home and eventually an investment. Does this sound too risky?

2023.06.07 10:08 ThrowRA_taor My (23f) girlfriend would like me (27m) to pay for therapy and other expenses.

Let me start by saying I’m not going to sugarcoat myself here. I want real feedback, because I’m not sure how to proceed.
7 months ago, my girlfriend (23f) found out that I (27m) had cheated on her. We’ve been together for 3 years. And on top of that, I had been struggling with a porn addiction that had begun to ruin my life. I was in a terrible place, and chose to stoke my addiction, and reach beyond our relationship.
Before finding out, we had been living together for about a month in my house. We had chosen to rent out her house and live together in mine. And had been discussing the idea of getting married.
The day she found out was one of the worst days of either of our lives. She found messages between me, and a girl I’ve known for quite some time on and off. We slept together in the summer of 2022, about 6 months before this point. And had been in contact on a monthly basis since then.
Miraculously, my girlfriend and I stayed together. But on the day she found these messages, she chose to promptly move out. I told her I wanted her to stay. But I absolutely understand she needed space, and to feel safe.
Flash forward to now. My girlfriend chose to rent an apartment for the last 7 months, due to her house being occupied by tenants, while we patched up our relationship. I chose to start seeing a therapist specialized in sex addictions, and have been steadily on the road to recovery. The process has been tough, but I’ve been sober for quite a few months now, despite the added stress of being laid off. This of course took a toll on our relationship, but we’ve managed to endure and work on things. My girlfriend also chose to see a therapist specializing in betrayal trauma, and has been recovering herself.
So here we are today. Our relationship is by no means perfect. But I love her, and I want to get through this.
Tonight, we had bit of a blow out. It wasn’t an argument, no voices were raised, but tears were shed. In fact very few words were even said. Just that she felt “done with this whole thing.” She decided to leave and spend the night at her place instead of together.
About an hour later, I received a shared note titled “Monthly Costs.” But no messages. Then shortly later a Venmo request. She’s calculated the extra cost to her over the last 7 months of living in an apartment and attending therapy. This number totals close to $5000 in added expenses she feels I’m responsible for.
My friends have given me advice, saying that I’m not responsible for paying for this. That she chose to move out, sign a lease, attend therapy, etc.
But I feel like a piece of shit to be honest with you. I’ve made leaps and bounds in therapy, but still feel absolutely ashamed of myself for the pain I’ve caused. And those feelings have me struggling with what’s right and what’s wrong.
So what would you do? Pay the money, and possibly save the relationship? Or stand your ground, and let things play out?
TLDR:
Cheated on my girlfriend of 3 years near the end of 2022, and hid a porn addiction from her. She moved out, though I told her I’d like her to stay or come back whenever she was ready, and has been living in an apartment for the last 7 months. I’ve been sober for for quite some time, attended therapy, and am in a much better place now. I love her very much, and have been trying to better our relationship. However now she would like me to pay for the accumulated expenses the last 7 months have cost her, including housing and therapy (about $5000). I feel incredibly ashamed for the things I’ve done. But I’m unsure if I should be financially responsible for these things.
Edit: For added context, this is unfortunately not the first time we’ve been “done” in the last 7 months, and statements like she made have been said. I fully expected ups and downs after what happened, and we’ve indeed been close to ending the relationship before now. However we have always made up the next day or so, usually with a fair amount of effort and convincing on my part. But the addition of putting a dollar amount on her pain and suffering has me in a moral predicament this time.

2023.06.07 10:03 22throwaway00 Seeking Advice: Navigating Relocation and Home Sale for a Potential Telework Position

I'm currently not working as a federal employee, but have been invited to interview for a position across the country. I'm willing to relocate, but the job doesn't offer relocation assistance, and I currently own a house with a mortgage. To avoid paying both a mortgage and rent, I'd need to sell my house if I accepted the job.
My plan is not to mention this in the interview unless asked directly, assuming that any negotiation about relocation would occur during a Tentative Job Offer (TJO). This situation doesn't seem to be unique, and the job posting states it allows for 80% telework, leading me to wonder if remote work could be an interim solution while I sell my house.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? It seems like a person eager to sell their house might risk not achieving its full market value. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

2023.06.07 09:56 archon_lucien Why is the USA such a nightmare to live in/move to?

I'm from a third world country (brownie points for guessing which one) and I'm all set to move to the US to matriculate at a T15. I've been having conversations with other admits who are also moving to the US this fall, and the common theme is this: the US is a pain in the ass to live in, especially for non-residents.
First, everything is wildly expensive. Assuming not everyone makes a post-MBA salary, rents are insanely expensive for the quality of the houses/apartments. So is a doctor's visit or purchasing a quick antibiotic or inhaler. Heck, calling an ambulance apparently sets you back by the low thousands. Here at home, you can walk into a doctor's office, get a prescription, and purchase all the meds you want (provided they're safe) and it would barely affect your wallet. I'm afraid of playing basketball once I move to the US out of fear of cracking a bone or getting a cut that will bankrupt me.
Next, for a 'developed' country, the US has a funny way of making you feel unsafe. Virtually everyone has told me to not stay out late at nights, or take train/bus at odd hours. I've been to France/Germany/UK and I as a woman felt very safe taking public transportation late at night, alone. I'm not even going to bring up racism because every country has racism. Plus, guns! In no other country in the world can you actually grumble to your parents back home 'I hope I don't get shot....'
Also, American laws are just insane. The US acts like the bastion of freedom of the world. And it projects 'Freedom' as the right to free speech and carrying deadly weapons. What about the freedom of your people and their bodies? My friends who will be starting at McCombs/Duke/UNC are appalled by the abortion laws there. I don't know how casual dating even works in the southern pro-lifer states if you can't count on an abortion after an accidental pregnancy.
Before I am destroyed by comments: Yes, I chose to attend a US program. Yes, I failed to look into the finer details of life stateside before I got enamored by the American MBA. I'm sure some of y'all will say 'nobody is forcing you to come'. And nobody is. But I'll say it again: For a developed country and a global superpower that projects democracy and freedom across the globe, the US does a bad job of making immigrants feel secure in their own skin. Land of the free and home of the brave indeed...
I'm afraid of moving to the USA, and I've come too damn far to pull out now.

Hello Houston!
My GF and I (both 23) are international students here in the Midwest US, we just graduated and have been to other bigger cities in the country (Chicago, NYC, DC, etc.) But we decided to visit your wonderful city this weekend. We'll be there for about 3 and half days, not enough to explore everything Houston has to offer, but just enough to see the highlights of it. We'll be renting a car too since we heard that is Houston's best mode of transportation.
Our main goal for this trip is to spend some quality time together, exploring the city and relaxing, while not spending a large sum of money. I built a rough itinerary and wanted to get some feedback from you folks (the locals) if anything seems improper. Please let me know if there is anything that I have missed about Houston, and any recommendations on where to get food and what else to do!
Thank you!
We'll be staying at an Airbnb in midtown, near Buffalo Bayou Park. We also intentionally avoid the Aquarium because we heard it's pretty depressing.
Day 0.5 (THU)
Day 1 (FRI)
Day 2 (SAT)
Day 3 (SUN)
My GF also really like going to cafes, so we'll pick a couple of these to visit:

Now free, his unique form of justice, born out of rage, is challenged by modern-day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone.

Production companies : Warner Bros. Pictures.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson raised some eyebrows in July at San Diego Comic-Con when he declared that the DC Extended Universe would enter "a new era" with his much anticipated heroic debut in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts: What was he implying? The other characters in the DCEU, such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the rest of the Justice League, the Suicide Squad, Shazam, and so on, would also be affected by that kind of reset. As

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts neared theaters, though, Johnson clarified that statement in a recent sit-down with Yahoo Entertainment (watch above).

“I feel like this is our opportunity now to expand the DC Universe and what we have in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which I think is really cool just as a fan, is we introduce five new superheroes to the world,” Johnson tells us. Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate, who together comprise the Justice Society.) “One anti-hero.” (That would be DJ's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.)

You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.

Is Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Streaming on Disney Plus?

Unfortunately, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is not currently available to stream on Disney Plus and it's not expected that the film will release on Disney Plus until late December at the absolute earliest.

While Disney eventually releases its various studios' films on Disney Plus for subscribers to watch via its streaming platform, most major releases don't arrive on Disney Plus until at least 45-60 days after the film's theatrical release.

The sequel opened to $150 million internationally, which Disney reports is 4% ahead of the first film when comparing like for likes at current exchange rates. Overall, the global cume comes to $330 million. Can it become the year's third film to make it past $1 billion worldwide despite China and Russia, which made up around $124 million of the first film's $682 million international box office, being out of play? It may be tough, but it's not impossible. Legging out past $500 million is plausible on the domestic front (that would be a multiplier of at least 2.7), and another $500 million abroad would be a drop of around $58 million from the original after excluding the two MIA markets. It'd be another story if audiences didn't love the film, but the positive reception suggests that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will outperform the legs on this year's earlier MCU titles (Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder had multipliers of 2.2 and 2.3 respectively).

As for the rest of the box office, there's little to get excited about, with nothing else grossing above $10 million as Hollywood shied away from releasing anything significant not just this weekend but also over the previous two weekends. When Black Panther opened in 2018, there was no counterprogramming that opened the same weekend, but Peter Rabbit and Fifty Shades Freed were in their second weekends and took second and third with $17.5 million and $17.3 million respectively. That weekend had an overall cume of $287 million compared to $208 million this weekend Take away the $22 million gap between the two Black Panther films and there's still a $57 million gap between the two weekends. The difference may not feel that large when a mega blockbuster is propping up the grosses, but the contrast is harsher when the mid-level films are the entire box office as we saw in recent months.

With only $8.6 million, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the most successful film of the rocky post-summer, pre-Transformers: Rise of the Beasts season, finished in second. Despite the arrival of blockbuster competition over the fourth weekend, the numbers only decreased by 53%, totaling $151 million. Given its $200 million budget, the global total of $352 million is not a huge sum as the box office begins to decline. Even so, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will soon surpass it as the most popular movie since Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts came in third place in its fourth weekend, down 29% with $6.1 million, emerging as one of the season's most durable grossers and one of the year's few bright spots when it comes to films for adults. The domestic cume is $56.5 million Fourth place went to Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, which had a negligible drop of 5% for a $3.2 million sixth weekend and $40.8 million cume., in fact )

, which isn't surprising considering it's the only family film on the market, and it's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts to grossing four times its $11.4 million opening. Still, the $72.6 million worldwide cume is soft given the $50 million budget , though a number of international markets have yet to open.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which experienced its greatest weekend decline yet and a 42% dip for a $2.3 million seventh weekend, rounds out the top five. Of course, there's no reason to be unhappy for the horror movie, which made $103 million domestically and $ 210 million globally on a $20 million budget.

2023.06.07 09:41 Virtuallyavailable HELP Leaving a relationship while living together F25 M26

I (25f) have been with my bf (26m) for 10+ years. I am seeking help on how to break things off. I have been trying to breakup with my bf for 2 years now, constantly threatening to breakup with him but he won’t budge. He won’t make small changes to improve our relationship. We live in the same house which is making things harder as I have no space away from him. I work from home and he door dashes 3 hours a day. He doesn’t help me pay the bills and always makes excuses as to why he can’t work. I’m not attracted to him anymore sexually. When we have sex it’s duty sex on my end, but he usually only initiates sex WHEN IM SLEEPING & this has been very hard on me to accept. He says he doesn’t like talking about sex so we can never talk about it. Hell, we can never truly solve any issue, he just has thousands of excuses for every little thing. His car is in my name. He does pay his car payment but he doesn’t help with rent. He’ll pay it 10 days late & only give me $500/800 if that. & then complains the car HE CHOSE is bad on gas mileage & asks to trade it in for something more expensive constantly when I begged him not to get it & begged him to leave my name out of it. But basically forced me to the moment he started screaming & throwing shit when he wasn’t accepted based off his credit.
I’m at my wits ends. He still says he does everything and I can’t even get a damn cookie if I ask him to bring one home on his way back from doordashing. He complains about helping me grocery shop once a week bc he “has to work” but door dashes 3 hours a day. But doesn’t give a fuck to eat every little thing I BUY. I have to buy 3x the amount of groceries & barely get to eat any of them.
He doesn’t talk about a future together. And I’m not excited for one with him. But I don’t know how to escape. Everytime I bring it up, he breaks something of mine or it’s a yelling match. Sometimes it becomes physical. I live too far from my parents and don’t want to involve them. His mom aids in his behavior. He’s a total mamas boy. And no. He won’t live with her unfortunately and has no money of his own to just leave. I also don’t feel it’s right to give him my hard earned money either to get him to leave…I’ve seen that suggested before and fuck that. I’d rather spend the deposit on an apt I’d give him on an expensive dog.
I feel so alone. I met a guy months ago that gave me hope for love again but he ofcourse cut me off because why would anyone want anything to do with a woman in a chaotic relationship?
Any advice???

2023.06.07 09:39 Think-Act5608 AITA for deducting the amount I spent on a hotel room for a night from my monthly rent from the landlord since the AC was not working for almost a week

So I live in a bedspace in Dubai, 2 of us in a masterbedroom, I pay 1500 for my share. Have been living here for a year. My landlord is pretty decent, takes time to address our complaints but does what needs to be done after telling multiple times. This a shared apartment so around 8 ladies stay in the same house in partitions and over the past year I’ve had so much of my belongings stolen from the kitchen, which I eventually stopped complaining about. Last week, our AC stopped working. We put in an official complaint with the landlord and the building engineer. 1 day, 2 day 3 days pass and nothing changes. It is extremely hot to the point it gets suffocating, plus have a smoker in the house so that adds on to everything. Cut to 5 days later, I had enough, I had not slept in over 5 days, have 12 hour hospital shifts and was physically and mentally exhausted. I packed my stuff and checked in to a nearby hotel for the night, paid 170 dirhams. Checked out in the morning went to work. When I came back the AC was fixed. Now am I at fault if I cut 170 from the rent next month? Because I really really tried to adjust. But it took such a bad toll on my physical and mental health, I just needed to sleep. I am on anti depressants since a few months.

2023.06.07 09:37 IrritablePanda086 First time home buyer questions

Husband and I combined make a minimum/ base gross of $308,000, but will definitely have more income from OT. We are around 40 ish and also behind in retirement. The housing market is so competitive right now for buyers and sellers are getting multiple offers over asking. We are in CA, planning to do a conventional loan with 3% down, and just placed an offer of $670k. We have approx $56k in bank, most of which has been for emergency fund but will take the down payment from it. It doesn’t seem to make sense for us to continue renting but I just want to make sure I’m not buying too much house for our lifestyle and goals. I’ve tried doing some budgeting and retirement calculations and have included our payroll taxes and maxing out retirement accts such as 401k and IRA. With the interest rates being so high, our mortgage payment including taxes and insurance would be around $5300 for the house we want. Does this seem reasonable? Is there anything else I’m missing here? I just want to make sure I am doing my calculations correctly and that we are making a responsible choice. And there are definitely some cheaper fixer uppers available but it seems like we can just spend the extra money for something that is already completed. Another option would be to purchase a townhouse or condo but we have rented and shared walls in the past and are kind of over it. Condos and townhouses also have fairly high HOA and or Mello-Roos, which if you take those fees also pretty much equate to an actual house. Thanks for any tips or feedback.

'In Vision' Commentary Notes - The Most Hated Family in America
It only took 10,000 words to get here, but I finally got through all the 'In Vision' commentaries from 'The Strange and the Dangerous' DVD box-set. And we're ending with a bang that would split Hell wide open even more than Princess Diana, with the Phelps family of the Westboro Baptist Church, aka 'The Most Hated Family in America'.

\"BECAUSE, YOU ARE... A REBELLIOUS... BRAT!!\"

For this one Louis is joined by Peter Tatchell, a human rights campaigner who specialises in LGBT issues, and someone who has personally been told by Shirley Phelps that he is going to burn in Hell.

Cast of bigots: Fred (patriarch of the Phelps family and leader of the church), Shirley (one of Fred's daughters), Jael (one of Fred's granddaughters), Steve (former documentarian who married into the family)

  • Louis: "Would they be so happy, if they weren't so hateful?"
  • Louis first learned of the Phelps family in 1995, when one of his colleagues on Michael Moore's 'TV Nation' show produced a segment on them
  • As someone he knew had already covered them, Louis "resisted" using them as a subject for Weird Weekends, and waited until enough time had passed for him to make a follow-up documentary
  • Peter, who is openly gay, had been raised in a Baptist church that, unsurprising, was nothing like the Westboro Baptist Church
  • There is a discussion of how homosexuality is "the absolute, defining point of their faith", along with criticism of the various ways the church attempts to justify it
  • The family's excuse for wearing clothes made of "mixed fibres" was that there is a distinction between "ceremonial law" and "moral law"
  • The family's excuse for one of Shirley's sons having a goatee (Leviticus states that trimming your beard is forbidden) was also to do with "ceremonial" vs. "moral" law, although Shirley was "shaken for a second" when Louis brought it up
  • The family's excuse for why some men in the family were not circumcised was that Paul "released people from having to follow Jewish law"
  • Louis was impressed by how many in the family had memorised such a wide repertoire of Bible verses and quotes, which he credits to them mostly being lawyers
  • Peter notes that "SHUT UP!" is not "a very Christian response"
  • If you look closely at the 'In Vision' commentary, Louis is mouthing the words yelled by the moustachioed man who drives past and swears at the family (he then repeats what the man said to Peter)
  • Louis thinks that the man was going to say the family could only get away with what they were doing because they were protected by their right to free speech (remember that for later...), but he drove away before he could finish
  • Of Shirley's "10 or 11" siblings, Louis says 9 of them were lawyers and they had a "legalistic" way of looking at the Bible
  • They both think the Phelps' "compound" looks like it would be a nice place to live
  • Louis was familiar with how people in cults can have a "dazed" or "damaged" look to them, but thought the female children seemed "healthy and outgoing" and "in a weird way, well-adjusted, other than their moral outlook"
  • Peter had interviewed Shirley and compares it to "talking to a wall [...] she just carried on regardless"
  • Louis states that a gay man visiting the Phelps' would not be "like a black man visiting the Ku Klux Klan [...] they would be reasonably welcoming, as weird as that may sound" (Peter looks ever-so-slightly sceptical)
  • Louis implies that the family have an odd sense of equality, as they simply view everyone outside the family as Hell-bound sinners
  • Shirley had told Peter that he was going to burn in Hell "in a very nice way"
  • There is a discussion of how much weird stuff there is in the Bible, and how modern churches pick-and-choose what they want from it
  • The crew made 3 trips, each lasting "a week, or slightly less", and they spent time with Jael on the second trip
  • Louis says they tried to show the "human side" to the church members, with Jael being the "easiest to relate to" because of how there was some "turmoil there" (she is a nurse who was raised to believe that all her patients deserve to die and will burn eternally in Hell)
  • Peter compliments the family's graphic design skills, "just a pity about the message"
  • They both look amused by the idea that Princess Diana's death "split Hell wide open"
  • Louis "really enjoyed" making the program and he was "relaxed" about arguing with Steve, as he knew he didn't have to worry about losing access to the family, because "they didn't really care what you threw at them"
  • Louis: "They expected you to take issue with everything, and get into barneys and ding-dongs"
  • The family had been "very involved in Democratic politics", though Louis suspects this may partly be because the Republican party was supported by other Christian groups that the family hated
  • In his younger days, Fred had received an award from the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People) for his legal work during the civil rights movement
  • Peter mocks Fred for using "Armenian" as an insult, before Louis corrects him to say that Fred is saying "Arminian" ("it's a theological... thing")
  • Louis notes that Fred immediately disliked him and was "quite grumpy"
  • At the time of recording the commentary, the family had been successfully sued for millions of dollars, after being found guilty of their picketing "causing mental anguish and distress" and Louis says "technically, they may be bankrupt"
  • Louis: "Are they still active, do we know?"
  • [What happened was that Synder vs. Phelps initially resulted in the family being ordered to pay $5 million, but the judgement was later reversed (with that reversal being upheld by the US Supreme Court) when another court determined that Fred Phelps was protected by his right to free speech]
  • The family spent "tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars" each year to fly around the country and picket funerals
  • The family makes "a reasonably good living" through their legal practice in Topeka, Kansas
  • No-one from the church will represent you as a lawyer for your first divorce, but they don't have a problem with representing you for any subsequent divorce ("at that point, it became meaningless")
  • Louis mentions how Shirley's family were the happiest and "her daughters seemed very self-assured", likely because they were "so close to the power" (Jael was not one of Shirley's daughters)
  • Some of Shirley's brothers had wives who had been "excluded" from the church (they could live on the property, but not socialise with anyone), because of their "transgressions"
  • Peter does not agree with taking children to any kind of protests where they do not understand what is being protested
  • Being a member of the family essentially meant that you were forced to take part in pickets ("emotional blackmail", as Peter calls it)
  • Peter on Shirley: "She loves the fact the world hates them."
  • Louis: "It makes them think they've got something important to say."
  • Louis mentions that they had followed and filmed interviews with the male children of the family, but none of it was included in the episode, because they simply weren't as "lively and interesting" as the female children
  • When Peter asks, Louis confirms that the male children had exactly the same attitudes and opinions as the other family members
  • The family's excuse for watching British TV shows like 'Ali G' and 'Trigger Happy TV' was that they could "find it amusing", while still thinking everyone involved in the production was going to Hell
  • Louis: "It's not what goes into the vessel, it's... something-something, some line about how, basically, you can watch whatever TV you like."
  • Peter notes how the family are sex-obsessed when it comes to the physical act ("to the point of, it's not really normal or healthy"), but never acknowledge the emotions associated with it
  • Shirley's first child had been born out of wedlock with a man she did not go on to marry (surprisingly, the conversation Louis had with her about this "wasn't particularly interesting")
  • Louis notes that Shirley and her siblings had a "complex relationship" with Fred, and claims that they had previously worked through feelings of "resentment and rebellion against him"
  • They both (correctly) predict that Shirley might be "running the show" now, but she will have a problem becoming Fred's successor, because strictly adhering to the Bible means that women cannot preach in church, so she could not formally be put in charge
  • Peter: "So they're misogynistic, as well as homophobic?"
  • Peter points out how the women have their heads covered during the church service, as it says to do in the Old Testament
  • Fred, literally, lived above the church, in living quarters with his wife
  • Louis believes that Fred had tailored his sermon to target Louis (or a UK audience in general), as he had given it a "transatlantic flavour"
  • The Bible contains "a recipe for bread that includes human excrement" ("Google it", Louis says)
  • Peter: "I'll leave that to them, thank you."
  • Personal Note: Did you really think I wouldn't Google it?
  • Peter: "Gay men are sex-obsessed, for heaven's sake, but these people are even worse!"
  • Louis (with a big grin on his face) gets Peter to explain what "scat" is
  • Louis is still unsure about how serious the family was when they talked about things like gay men drinking "feaccuccinos" (coffee made with faeces)
  • Louis doesn't do much with the little time he has to speak to Fred, because he was expecting to have a sit-down interview that never happened
  • Louis explains that the church's focus on homosexuals began in the late 1980s, when a local park was being used by gay men for sexual encounters and the council would not act against it
  • Louis notes that you can hear his voice begin to crack when he reads the dead soldier's obituary, because "sometimes when I'm tired, I get more emotional", and he genuinely was starting to cry
  • The family were fully aware that picketing the funerals of, for example, miners who died after being trapped underground would get them more attention than simply protesting against politicians
  • Louis mentions how the family had been stopped from picketing the funerals of some very young children who had been shot by a "madman", after a local DJ offered them an hour of airtime as an alternative
  • The family's excuse for being so nice to each other, yet awful to everyone else, was that they reserved their "Christian virtues" for fellow members of the church
  • The family's excuse for constantly judging people was that "thou shalt not judge" didn't mean you can never judge, and the Bible makes judgements that they are expected to follow (Louis grudgingly admits that they do have a point with that one)
  • There is an interesting discussion after Peter challenges Louis on why a small "sect" that has almost no real influence deserves to be the subject of a documentary, with Louis essentially saying that an otherwise intelligent family group following such an extreme interpretation of a religious text makes them significant
  • There is a far less interesting discussion when Louis asks Peter, an atheist, how a gay man may struggle to be Christian
  • Peter points out Jael's prolonged sigh during her conversation with Louis in the car (neither of them predict that she will end up married to a postman from Bradford)
  • Louis: "They create the animosity that then makes them feel as though they're right."
  • They both laugh at Jael's whiny "What did we do to them?!"
  • Louis notes how the family would "change the meanings of words" (they weren't "picketing", they were "preaching")
  • Louis: "I think they were quite pleased with the documentary. [...] They got a lot of hits on their website."
  • Peter: "I think a lot of hits on the website doesn't necessarily mean to say a lot of people were supporting them."

And that's the end of the commentaries! Thank you to everyone who's been following along and reading these. A fish with a rude word in its name asked me to recap 'Louis and the Nazis' (now, there's something you can only say on reddit), but after that I'll take a break from spamming the subreddit with my waffling.

And if you haven't read my other 'In Vision' commentary recaps, then here are the links to them:

2023.06.07 09:29 TheDoomedHeretic 25F [Activities] Disco Elysium enthusiast searching for RP partner, mostly for Star Wars, Dragon Age, Warhammer, and a few other fandoms.

As the title mentions I'm an advanced-novella RPer looking for GMs or offering myself as a GM for various text-based RPs. I've provided a sample down below and will ask the same of anybody that reaches out. Outside of writing I tend to spend most of my time on games like Knights of the Old Republic 2, New Vegas, and, indeed, the Hobocop Game. I'm an Associate at Amazon with an otherwise unimpressive social life, occasionally leaving the house to play WH40K Tabletop.
Discord is more-or-less required for me to be interested; sample incoming.

The boar is not dead, though to all the other hunters’ senses it is. It lays motionless on its side within the sled, tied down by rope with two arrows sticking discordantly out of its hide like seams of broken bone. Frozen blood pools in the cracked stomach of the sled, collecting rather than leaking now that red ice has sealed the wood. Poison leaching out of the arrowheads keeps the boar docile, and its breathing so light that only Trapper can see. An ovate in too-thin robes shivers as she ties a garland of rosemary around the beast’s neck, murmuring prayers to the ancestors that they might find the kill worthy.
Winter has seized the land in its vise, its unending waves of cold and snow having transformed the Barony of Marlas into a crueler scape, one Trapper doesn’t quite recognize. Tranquility abounds along the driven snow, all through the clearing, hiding the buried world and the woes of man but unable to snuff them out. Trapper knows well what a mirage it is, the oppressive winters of his homeland no less savage than the bloodletting summers. The numbing cold does not soothe his aches, for he knows they’ll be worse come morning, come the thaw. Too soon this clearing will melt, its river gone from white to red, the whole Septima Line thrust back to war.
Baron Orys refuses to yield to midnight season, to accept its peace, and so from his great warhorse’s saddle he brazenly belts out a mixture of drunken lyrics and commands, determined to master this hunt even if he does not partake. An entourage on horseback spreads out in his orbit, ranging from eager young footmen to grizzled junkers, all in varying states of inebriation at his command. Their braying is nearly louder than the hounds’, who hungrily stalk between the sled and the hole they pulled the boar out from. Teased by the hunt but yet unrewarded, they’re too unruly to be kept in check by the kennel master.
On foot slog the unfortunates who actually have to take part in the hunt, Trapper among them. They huddle into their hemp canvas cloaks, glancing up at the moody afternoon sky threatening to crack open with another snowstorm. Dark clouds sweep in low from the south like a riptide, a single vast current swept in from the mountains already menacing the Oldwoods. Its furthest gales reach them as tongues of vengeful cold, flecks of whipped-up snow biting into Trapper’s exposed skin.
By the boar’s nest leans a typical Mallean, one of Trapper’s two erstwhile comrades. Sigorn is tall, pale, broad, with the close-set, wide-boned features of a commoner, and a shock of red hair grown out to protect against the elements. Beneath his cloak he proudly bears his blood-flecked armor, each dent a Darkman put into it a point of dear pride. He’s not the only one, either, the clearing filled with dozens of youths whose first blooding ended in victory amid a blizzard. Baron Orys, deep into his cups after six days of nonstop celebration, saw a break in the storms and gladly called a hunt. When informed he could not go on account of his shattered knee - he simply grinned, and ordered himself tied to his saddle.
Trapper remembers the moment his lord fell from the saddle, burned into his nerves. The screaming of horses, skidding hooves catching on the frozen ground. On the edges of his vision a rider smashes into a branch in the din, others don’t move at all for fear of the blizzard. His spurs dig, his borrowed steed whines, and he races for his lord - only for another to reach him first.
“What a woman.” Sigorn sighs beside Trapper, craning his neck to look at one of their lord’s companions of honor. Susannah Oye, junker unlike the others, a pretty, willowy noblewoman well into motherhood, with the lean, ruthless look of a ranger. Her two poisoned arrows are what struck the boar down, and her pride curls off her body like steam. Sigorn’s face cracks into exaggerated appreciation, and then he turns to their lord’s other honored companion. Another woman, this one as young as they are, haughtily-built and leering with none of Susannah’s refinement. Many of those looks are reserved for Trapper, forced to slog on foot as just another hunter. “Anya too. I think she fancies you, eh?”

2023.06.07 09:21 Harry_is_white_hot I'm not buying the whole "We have no data on crash retrievals" narrative being pushed by Gough et. al. and the Pentagon. There is an enormous amount of declassified and sanitized information available in DoD and DoE holdings, including organization names, addresses, and telephone numbers.

I'm not buying the whole

Don't know where to look
https://ia601505.us.archive.org/30/items/StarfishPrimeInterimReportByCommanderJTF8/Starfish%20Prime%20Interim%20Report%20By%20Commander%20JTF-8.mp4
There is a lot of scientific data holdings from EG&G, Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories regarding Bluegill Triple Prime shootdown, crash and retrieval. These excerpts of transcripts from the Nevada Test Site Oral History archives by former EG&G staff involved in the Operation Fishbowl tests describe the scientific instruments used in the Bluegill Triple Prime shot, the KC-135 platforms they operated from and how they were calibrated. (Interviewer questions in italics).
Interview with Peter Henry Zavattaro (EG&G) May 31, 2005 https://special.library.unlv.edu/ark%3A/62930/d19g5gr4z
"Shortly after I got started in this, we got involved with Los Alamos [National Laboratory] oratory] on a project called—well, we were building a system called a Z system, and this was designed to—this was a pre-Vela [Uniform] activity and it was designed to look at air fluorescence of a nuclear burst out of space, out in the outer atmosphere. The X-rays would impinge on the atmosphere and light it up at certain precise wavelengths. So we built this system to look at that. And it was deployed around the world. (pg 2)
Dominic was the Pacific test program and, was kind of a period where we tested, I guess it was over 100 tests, every day almost. And I was supporting a branch of the Air Force at the time. And we had a KC-135 that was filled with instrumentation, cameras, antennas. We looked at electromagnetic pulses and photographed things. And we flew on the airplane. Whenever there was a test, we would fly down to Christmas Island or wherever the test was, collect data, and fly back. Lived in Oahu, so we worked out of Hickam Air Force Base [Hawaii] for months and months.
In July of ‘62, I think it was ‘62, [07/09/1962] we started the high-altitude series, which the first test was Starfish. Starfish was a large-yield device, 400 miles up or something. It’s in the book someplace. [DOE/NV—209 Rev 15 December 2000]
But anyway that lit up the whole sky. You could see that the sky turned green from Hawaii to Samoa. It was just spectacular. I had a copy of Life Magazine that had that on the cover and I can’t find it.
It would be in ‘62; ‘62 issue of Life. But after that particular test, there was concerns about what the Russians were doing, and the plane that I was supporting went to Russia. I stayed in Hawaii and took a trailer of equipment, and the government rented a freighter, a Portuguese freighter called Private Frank J. Petracka. My trailer was strapped to one of the holds on this freighter and we went down to Johnson Island, and I spent forty-six days anchored off Johnson Island looking at the rest of the high-altitude series plus some atmospheric shots. The shots down there, the famous one was Bluegill because it took them three tries to actually get that successfully fired. The first one blew up on the pad. The second one blew up shortly after launch, so there were parts of rocket motors and things falling down. And the third test was successful. (pg. 4)
(Zavattaro is mistaken here - it was the 4th test of the Bluegill device that was successful).
But after Dominic was over, I became more involved with Los Alamos. The first thing that happened after the test series was over was coming up with a readiness program for resuming testing in the Pacific, and that was called the Future Off-Continent Program, FOC. And I worked on that until the program was cancelled. Basically, it was a clause in one of the safeguards, Safeguard C, that said we had to be prepared to promptly resume atmospheric testing in the Pacific. So they came up with a concept for that exercise. The concept was that to so that to solve some of the logistics problems of the past test series—because weather in the Pacific is really spotty. You never know where you can see things. So the concept was they would have a flying experiment. They would have the drop plane fly and they would have an array of airplanes follow it and they would find some nice clear place in the Pacific and fire the test. So this was the concept, and to support that, each of the labs had designed an aircraft for experimentation. Sandia had their own, [Lawrence] Livermore [National Laboratory] had their own, and Los Alamos had their own. So they modified these three aircraft, which were called NC-135s, which were refuelable KC-135s, at Fort Worth [Texas]. General Dynamics modified the planes. And I supported—we would go down and we designed the camera mounts and a lot of the stuff that went on the air—a lot of the supporting infrastructure, cameras and things, that went on the airplanes. And then after they completed them, they moved them to Kirtland Air Force Base [New Mexico]; Holmes and Narver designed an array of pad, three pads, for the aircraft, and they were stationed down there. And we had an array of trailers and we staffed it with people from Boston. The first test of this system was called Crosscheck, and we had an experiment. We went out to the Pacific and checked out with a flare and cameras and the whole nine yards to see if everything worked. (pg 5)
What was going on in Boston, supporting Los Alamos, was looking at the high altitude data. We were digitizing all the thousands of frames of data that we had from the highaltitude tests with very sophisticated digitizing equipment at the time. And the lab felt that the arrangement was too costly to have this interface, so they wanted us to move our resources that supported them to Los Alamos, and that’s when we basically opened the office there. I moved to Los Alamos in ’70 to set up an engineering department; and I moved about, I think it was thirteen or fourteen people that worked for me from Boston to Los Alamos."
Now, which division or group were you supporting at Los Alamos?
This was J-10.
J-10 was the field division, the real test division, and at that time that was the biggest, the key group. It was headed up by a guy named Herman Hoerlin who was a quite famous scientist from Germany, and he was a very interesting guy. (pg 9)
And who was the head of J-Division then?
It went through a few people. Herman Hoerlin, after Herman left, God, I can’t— A whole bunch of people. Don [Donald M.] Kerr was there for a while. Hard to remember all these things. It’s been so many years. (pg.11).

Interview with James Arnold Hodges (EG&G) January 17 2005 https://special.library.unlv.edu/ark%3A/62930/d16m33f80
"Well, not originally. Actually, I went into that pretty quick, too, into the taking pictures. I worked with Harry Smith who had some cameras called, oh, well, what were those called? We were up at Building 400 and we had rotor cameras. They had a rotor in them that turned 4,000 rps [rotations per second] and they would—oh, streak cameras, that’s what they were called. When the bomb went off, they made a streak with time and that showed you, since you knew what the speed of the rotor was and how long the film was, it showed you how big the fireball got. They used that for measurements on the yield, yield measurements. And I did that quite a while. When I wasn’t doing the streak camera measurements, I was working in the office in the other photo camera stations. We had photo stations everywhere sitting out there with cameras in them, all types of cameras, all speeds from Rapatronic cameras that took a picture in four billionths of a second to so-called cloud cameras that took a picture every few seconds and traced the cloud as it was going up. (pg. 4)
Some of the pictures that we took are still classified. One of them was taken by a Rapatronic camera. I had a streak camera with a sixteen-foot telescope on it and it looked right into the cab of the tower and you could see the case of the bomb. We have a picture of a crack appearing in the case as it started to blow up. That picture’s still classified. And then I took one at Johnston Island from the deck of the Boxer, that’s an old aircraft carrier with an old wood deck, it was an old one. And they classified the picture because it was some clouds which had, of course, the aerial bomb went off way up in the atmosphere and there was a cloud shaped like an angel, so they said, Oh, we don’t dare publish that picture. People will say we’re punching a hole in the sky and all the air’s going to run out and everything else. And so they classified that picture, and as far as I know, it’s still classified. I don’t think it was ever released. (pg.6)
I was there for the so-called high altitude sun tests. We took pictures from a high altitude airplane.
So you took pictures from the plane.
Yes. Of the sun. I don’t remember just why.
And did you take those, or again did you have equipment set up to do that?
We had equipment set up to do it. I shot some stills from Johnston Island, from the deck of the carrier, I shot some of those stills. That’s in fact the one where the angel was, I shot that one. And like I say, that one’s hid somewhere far, far down in the—
So none of your stuff ever went out to the media or the press.
No.
This was just all for in-house EG&G?
Yeah. I guess since then they released some of the shots. (pg.25)

Interview with Vernon Henry Jones (EG&G) October 4, 2005 https://special.library.unlv.edu/ark%3A/62930/d1q23rb6p
"Right. Now physically what happened with the film? Because I have no idea. The cameras are there. You remove the cameras. How does that work?
Cameras, no. We would remove the film only from all of them. Some of them, you just take the film reel out of them and we had regular film-carrying cases that we would put the film in. Some of them had film magazines on top of them. Some of them were quite large. Like the Fastax camera had a thousand-foot roll of 35-millimeter film on top of it. The Fastax, the name of the camera, it was a real high-speed camera, and it would go through that whole thousand feet of film in one and a half seconds.
No way!
Oh, yes! You should hear that camera when it ran. It was like, stand back!
In what sense?
Noisy! The noise would scare you, hearing that thing wind up the way it did. That camera had a drive motor on the film feed and the take-up spool. That’s how fast that turkey went. So there was probably an average, I don’t know, six to eight cameras in each station. Some were small; some were there for just cloud cover, to see which way the cloud went after the shot. Of course they were real slow-speed cameras. And the others, we had the Mitchell that generally ran at a hundred frames per second. I don’t know offhand what they were really after, but it was one of the cameras, and various other ones in there. We had some high-speed Eastman cameras, slowspeed Triads, and others, I don’t recall their names. (pg.11)
Photo. Setting up field photo. Now there were other people helping me some at times, but for the most part I did the majority of that by myself. A lot of the cameras were mounted on a tripod, small cameras. The camera was called by letters GSAP, which stood for Gunsight Aerial Photography-type camera. It’s a little bitty thing, run on 24 volts, had a fifty-foot roll of 16-millimeter film in them. These were all over the place, taking pictures of all these different things (pg. 52)

Interview with Wayne Albert Violette (EG&G) January 12, 2005
https://special.library.unlv.edu/ark%3A/62930/d1h12vk31
"This was actually done on film. When the bomb would go off, there would be oscilloscope traces recorded and it would record like the alpha growth rate of the bomb. The first few thousandths of a millionth or nanoseconds of the bomb going off is what the critical information was because after that it was all over.
And is that what you guys looked at?
Yes, the first few nanoseconds. That’s where they would get most of their information as far as the effectiveness of the bomb and the efficiency of it, and I’m not sure what the physicists were really looking at, but the alpha growth rate was primarily what we were looking at, right at the very beginning. (pg.10)
I was also sent for two or three weeks to Albuquerque to work on some of the—I think KC-135s, they’re 707s, I believe—was the civilian name for the planes. We went back and we worked on those for putting equipment in them; they were preparing if they went to atmospheric testing again. These had a big window on one side and the equipment was set to where they could take pictures out of it. I had my particular little thing to do, installing certain equipment, so I wasn’t privy to a lot of the details of what they were doing. But that was very interesting, too, to go back there and just be part of it. Sandia built the bombs, and Sandia Labs was back there. (pg.13).
We didn’t process—we came up with negatives. They would look at the negative. It was actually a negative image. It looked like a dark image on a light background, rather than the white image on the dark background. When we would set the equipment up, we would have to get them focused exactly. Very critical on focus and getting the right intensity so they would be the best image possible. We used a lot of Polaroid film doing that. We’d go through boxes and boxes of Polaroid film on the setup of it. The actual photo, though, was then done on an actual negative. So I know Polaroid must’ve made a lot of money off the test site because we used a lot of that, and yellow tape." (pg.15)
Military v Civilian control
It also appears that there were problems within the U.S. Government bureaucracy regarding the military maintaining control over nuclear weapons. This is rectified somehow by the wording in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, and is explained here by the Defence Special Weapons Agency's Associate Dean Byron L. Ristvet.
Interview with Byron Leo Ristvet, (DSWA) April 17, 2006 https://special.library.unlv.edu/ark%3A/62930/d1qf8jw7j
"So the British never had that civilian control quandary that we did. And let me just tell you bluntly, when Truman wanted the Atomic Energy Commission created and in civilian control because he didn’t trust the military, guess who was his strongest supporter? George C. Marshall. Leslie Groves. They both testified secretly at the time that they did not want the production of weapons under the services. They wanted the control of special nuclear material, the design, and the production to remain totally a civilian enterprise.
And what was, their reasoning there again? Was it the knowledge?
No, their reasoning was, is they just felt that the military shouldn’t be in control of such awesome power, that the Constitution had basically said civilians should be in power, and so this way it made it very positive. I think had the Goldwater-Nichols Act been in place where the secretary of war and the secretary of the Navy had control over the CNO and over the chief of staff of the Army who at that time reported directly to the president. It would’ve been different. But the Defense Department really didn’t gain the civilian control power until ’85.
Well, you know, there were changes, and the biggest change to the Atomic Energy Act was ’54, when the military was allowed to have custody of special nuclear material. Prior to that it was always under the control of the AEC, and that was because we were going to these sealed designs, and even where the what’s called the capsule ball assembly was not inserted into the high explosive, it was still carried on the weapon; it was integral to the weapon and you couldn’t manually insert it in flight, it was automatically inserted in flight, and as a result, you had to grant the custody—plus the response times were getting less and less and less. You know, the late forties, three days. By the time you were in ’54, you were getting down to three-or-four-hour kind of response times, about half the time it takes to fly over the poles. By the time you were in the late fifties, you had missiles. Of course we didn’t know the missile gap was sort of nonexistent, but in ’58 the response time was getting down to thirty minutes. And by the time you were in the ’66-’67 time frame, when the Russians had their first fleet ballistic submarines, you were now down to fifteen-minute response time. That’s why the Cuban missile crisis in ’62 was such a huge thing, because now you were looking at seven-or-eight-minute response times. (pg.32)
This is of interest here because according to the Majestic Documents, it was claimed by Allen Dulles that these changes to the Atomic Energy Act 1954 allowed him exclude President John F. Kennedy from knowing the details of the MJ-12 program:

It would be interesting to know if Pharis Williams and Oke Shannon had any involvement with the J-10 group at Los Alamos or have knowledge of the Bluegill Triple Prime anomaly.
For the past five years, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) weapon physicist Greg Spriggs and a crack team of film experts, archivists and software developers have been on a mission to hunt down, scan, reanalyze and declassify film recordings of the U.S. atmospheric nuclear tests. In this video, Lab science communicator Maren Hunsberger interviews Greg Spriggs to answer some of the most frequently asked questions we've received about the test films since sharing them on YouTube.

Going organic and micro farming!
After playing Farming Simulator for the past couple of years, I felt that I needed a new challenge. Therefore, I decided to go (almost) fully organic, and to start from the bottom of the ladder which meant micro farming.
That means that I gave myself 200 000 $ loan, that’s it, with which I bought myself two pieces of land (108 000 $), including one that was a property where I would live. I built on that one seven gardens at 2000 $ each and three chicken coop.
With that budget, no way I could afford a tractor. So all I used for the first years of the game was the John Deere Gator 4X2… which is a BEAST! And all I allowed myself to do is rent the smallest pieces of equipment to work my field.
Going organic also meant that I wouldn’t use any chemical fertilizer on my fields. Only cover crops. It also meant that any fruits, vegetable, honey or eggs I would produce had to be sold immediately, just like in real life. So I built myself a little selling lodge next to my house.
After a couple of years, I was able to repay my loan and buy an extra piece of land. On it, I built two pigsties. Yes, pigsties are not exactly organic, but that was the only way I could collect slurry to fertilize my fields. That’s pretty much the only non-organic thing I allowed myself to do. However, when it came to feeding the pigs, everything had to come from my harvests. In fact, I never allowed myself to sell more than 50 000 L of grain each year. If I had more than that, it meant I was relying too much on machinery.
Money started to come in. So, in the following years, I started to add many more greenhouses, foil tunnels, strawberry fields and I even built myself a pretty big érablière (as we say in Québec, maple farms for everyone else), always trying to stay as organic as possible. Unfortunately, with every greenhouse mod in FS22, you have to use chemical fertilizer instead of organic (which would cost more), but you don’t get a cash bonus for growing organic foods, so I guess it evens out.
So, after playing more than 275 hours, I’ve pretty much reached my ending point. Especially that I just built my own farming market, which is not only meant to sell what I’m growing, but also to attract tourists. As you can see in the pictures, I have two small pastures, for pigs and for sheeps, a barn for chickens and a playground, just to attract kids and their parents. There’s also a BBQ place when I invite the best Instagram influencers to help my marketing. We’re also selling plants for three times what they’re worth!
So, was this challenge fun? Sure was! It’s a different way of to think the game, where it’s not about buying bigger and bigger equipment, but rather to do more with every little acre you own.

Is Spider-Verse 2 available to stream? Is watching Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse on Peacock, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Netflix or Amazon Prime? Yes, we have found an authentic streaming option/service.
Watch Now: Spider Man: Across the Spider Verse Movie Online
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be in theaters beginning June 2. If you're wondering how and where you can watch it yourself, take a look at the information below.

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters the Spider Society, a team of Spider-People charged with protecting the Multiverse’s very existence. But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must set out on his own to save those he loves most. Anyone can wear the mask – it’s how you wear it that makes you a hero.

The much-anticipated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is only a few weeks away, and fans can’t wait to see the new adventures of Miles Morales. Once the Sony Pictures-produced movie ends its theatrical run, it will come to the most popular streamers, including Netflix and Disney Plus. But when is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix and Disney Plus? Here’s what you need to know.

'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' features the return of Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy. Just before the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, producers of the feature have announced a couple of other projects. Producer Amy Pascal has announced a forthcoming third installment titled Beyond the Spider-Verse expected to be released next year. That is not the only project announced.

Paint-on-glass, Realistic Cartoon-style to Japanese Manga, makers explore not a couple but way too many animation styles! Shameik Moore’s Miles, in a way, gets a Star-Lord-like treatment in which he beautifully balances his character arc without overstepping the broader scheme of things. Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen finally gets a chance to narrate her side of things, and it mixes well with the ‘star-crossed’ relationship she’s currently sharing with Miles.

If you’re like just about everyone else on the planet who saw Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018 and loved it, you’ve probably been waiting for the sequel. You won’t be waiting long, as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is finally coming out in 2023, a full five years later. It’s been a long wait but by all indications the film is going to be a blast for fans of comic book movies, Miles Morales’ version of Spider-Man, and this new animated franchise featuring the iconic webslinger.

Modern cinema has seen the gap between theatrical and streaming releases shorten dramatically, begging the question of when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will release online. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, streaming releases have been much closer to the theatrical release of films. While the mid-COVID marketing technique of releasing movies in theaters and on streaming services at the same time for an extra price is a thing of the past, the gap between the respective releases is still considerably shorter than in decades past.

While we currently don’t know the exact online release date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, we do know the movie will be released in cinemas worldwide, including the US and UK, on June 2nd, 2023. We know where to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse online, but do we also know when? We can guess once again, assuming it charts the same theater-to-streaming path as Into the Spider-Verse did in 2018 with two months between the theatrical release and its digital renting/buying services. You may be able to buy or rent the movie digitally as early as late July of this year, with a physical release roughly a month or so after that, if not sooner. This also means that you will probably be able to stream Spider-Man: Across on Netflix in early December 2023, as it took about six months from Into the Spider-Verse’s release before the movie landed on the streamer.

When Is the Release Date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was one of the many films to get hit by a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, moving from its original date of April 8, 2022, to October 7, 2022. That's the date seen in the above trailer, but the film has since seen another significant delay since then. Now the film is officially set for release on June 2, 2023. Hopefully, we won't see another delay, but if it means getting a sequel that lives up to the sky-high heights of the original, we'll gladly wait.

Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in Theaters?
Not only was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse the subject of rave reviews, but it also pulled in some gargantuan levels of cash at the international box office, with a final tally that quadrupled the film's ninety-million dollar budget. With incredible success like that, it's only natural that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse would also be taking advantage of a theatrical release. That is the case, as the upcoming film will be exclusively available in theaters when it premieres on June 2nd, 2023.

When is 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' streaming?
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse The home distribution rights for Across the Spider-Verse are in a rather interesting place. In April 2021, it was reported that Sony Studios had signed a multiyear deal with both Netflix and Disney for shared streaming rights to Sony films coming out between 2022 and 2026. This deal includes Across the Spider-Verse as well as the third film in the series, Beyond the Spider-Verse, due out in March 2024.

As for releases like Across the Spider-Verse, the film will be available on Netflix with "first-pay-window-rights" for the first 18 months of its home media release. While it will not be streaming concurrently with its theatrical release, it will be available on Netflix following its theatrical run.

Some of the films are not currently available on the service because Sony has pre-existing partnerships with Starz, as that's where most of the absent films are available to stream. That is except for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is instead only streaming on Fubo TV and FX Now.

For anyone else looking to watch the film as soon as possible, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released in theaters on June 2.

How to Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
At the moment, you can watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at your local theater. But like most movies these days, it should hit a streaming website in the near future.

Like its predecessor, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a flick produced by multimedia conglomerate Disney. What's more, the production studio owns a number of other famous franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars. Titles made under these umbrellas have both hit Disney+ sometime after arriving at the box office. Fans may also know the original Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently available to stream on the site as well. So, if the 2023 version follows the same pattern, folks will likely get to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Disney+ later this year too.

As for an exact release date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, that's more complicated. Most movies produced by Disney often go to its streamer site within three months after debuting in theaters, like the most recent Marvel film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. If this is the case for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it will probably drop in late August 2023 or sometime near Labor Day in early September.

When the time comes for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to splash onto Disney+ though, make sure you're all prepared to watch it. If you don't have access yet, you can opt into a 30-day free trial before choosing a plan that start at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. After your account is all set, click on the title page on Disney+'s official website or the Disney+ app.

As you wait for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to hit the streamer, why don't you watch the animated version and its sequel Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse? Or if you want to immerse yourself in another live-action version, click on the 2019 ABC TV special Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Live!. Enjoy!

Where To Watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Online:
As of now, the only way to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is to head out to a movie theater when it premieres on June 2, 2023. You can find a local showing on Fandango.

Watch Now: Spider-Verse (2023) Movie Online Free

Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait for it to become available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Amazon, Vudu, YouTube or Apple, or become available to stream on Disney+.

Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix?
Yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is coming to Netflix approximately in December 2023. In 2021, Sony and Netflix signed a five-year deal that gave the latter exclusive first-pay-window U.S. streaming rights for Sony Pictures titles after their theatrical and home entertainment windows. Fans can expect to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix six months after the film’s theatrical release, thus in December 2023. The date seems reasonable considering that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse dropped on Netflix on June 26, 2019, six months after its U.S. release on December 14, 2018. The pay-one window usually begins about nine months after a film’s theatrical release, but it might start earlier in particular cases. This post will be updated once there is a 100% officially confirmed Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Netflix release date.

When Will Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Be Available On Netflix?
Where will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse stream specifically? Due to an ongoing deal between Netflix and Sony (remember that these movies are not produced by Disney), Across the Spider-Verse will see Netflix as the streaming home for the film when it finishes its theatrical run. It will no doubt make its way to Disney+ eventually, as Disney and Sony do have an agreement for Disney to include Sony’s Spider-Man content in their offerings, but that will at least be some time after Across the Spider-Verse has come out on Netflix.

In terms of which of the streaming giants Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released on, Netflix will house the film upon its streaming debut. While again, Sony does not have its own dedicated streaming service, a deal was struck in 2021 between the studio and Netflix. The deal, stating that Netflix would stream Sony's films after theatrical release, was penned for 5 years meaning Across the Spider-Verse is part of the arrangement.

Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Disney Plus?
Yes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is also coming to Disney Plus approximately in 2025.

Once the pay-one window runs its time and Netflix’s exclusive rights expire, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available on Disney Plus. The pay-one window might last as long as 18 months, which means it will be a while before Disney Plus subscribers can watch the much-anticipated sequel. Unlike in other countries, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse isn’t yet available on the Disney-owned streamer in the U.S.

While Sony's Spider-Man content is also streaming on Disney+, due to the collaborations between Sony and Marvel Studios in recent years, Across the Spider-Verse will be a Netflix release. While the deal struck between Marvel Studios and Sony may extend to this film, Disney+ is only allowed to begin streaming Sony's Spider-Man releases upon their release on Netflix. As a result, Netflix will be the first streaming service that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available on after its theatrical release.

Regarding when the film will be available on Netflix, the answer is less definitive. The first film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, began streaming six months after its theatrical release. Based on this, it is safe to assume Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will see a similar gap between its cinematic and streaming releases. Given the film's theatrical release of June 2, 2023, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will likely begin streaming on Netflix in December 2023.

Will Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Be On HBO Max?
No, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will not be on HBO Max since it’s not a Universal Pictures movie. Last year, the company released its films in theaters and on the streamer on the same day. However, they now allow a 45-day window between the theatrical release and the streaming release.

Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Available On Hulu?
Viewers are saying that they want to view the new animation movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Hulu. Unfortunately, this is not possible since Hulu currently does not offer any of the free episodes of this series streaming at this time. It will be exclusive to the MTV channel, which you get by subscribing to cable or satellite TV services. You will not be able to watch it on Hulu or any other free streaming service.
