2023.03.20 19:08 No_Plane7225 Attorney didn’t represent myself in court, what to do next?
Hey all, so I don’t even know where to start. A while back, I got a speeding ticket for driving over 15mph at the posted speed limit; due to my state laws, this would be seen as a criminal offense/felon (not very educated in law). So I hired an attorney to represent myself in court, paid him, and even did the waiver of appearance; it's important to note that I have all of these printed out since I like to keep track of my things. My court date was on the 15th, and I kept trying to reach him and see how the case status was going. I got no word from him, so today I went and tried calling but got not answer, so instead, I called my county clerk and asked if I could get the status through them. Come to find out, I have an issue with arrest, and my attorney didn't show up to my court date. I have no clue what to do, and I'm up in the air as to if I should turn myself in and get it taken care of. Is there anything I could do?

2023.03.20 18:55 autotldr The Internet Archive is defending its digital library in court today
This is the best tl;dr I could make,
original reduced by 82%. (I'm a bot)
Book publishers and the Internet Archive will face off today in a hearing that could determine the future of library ebooks - deciding whether libraries must rely on the often temporary digital licenses that publishers offer or whether they can scan and lend copies of their own tomes.
At 1PM ET, a New York federal court will hear oral arguments in Hachette v. Internet Archive, a lawsuit over the archive's Open Library program.
The Open Library is built around a concept called controlled digital lending, or CDL: a system where libraries digitize copies of books in their collections and then offer access to them as ebooks on a one-to-one basis CDL is different from services like OverDrive or Amazon's Kindle library program, which offer ebooks that are officially licensed out by publishers.
The publishers' complaint also relies heavily on arguing the nonprofit Internet Archive isn't running a real library.
In a response, the Internet Archive says it's received around $5,500 total in affiliate revenue and that its digital scanning service is separate from the Open Library.
Digital rights organization Fight for the Future has supported the Internet Archive with a campaign called Battle for Libraries, arguing that the lawsuit threatens the ability of libraries to hold their own digital copies of books.

2023.03.20 18:54 CompetitiveSimple259 Marriage is falling apart ... want to protect my right to see my son and my assets [long post]
Hi!
I am seeking legal advice, but there is some (legally irrelevant) cultural context that I wanted to add as well so that you understand the rationale behind my two legal questions.
Situation:
- My wife and I have been married for 2.5 years after having known each other for one year. We got married in Quebec, then moved to Ontario 1.5 years ago.
- 6 Weeks ago, we had a child.
- We constantly fought for three weeks after her delivery (details below).
- Then, she visited her family in Quebec and took the child away (supposedly, she would be there for one week). She took the original marriage certificate and the act of marriage doc without telling me (docs I originally paid for).
- Now she messages me that she wants us to separate (The child is with her now and is living with her family in Quebec).
Some contexts: - During our marriage, we maintained separate bank accounts. The money saved in my account came from my salary.
- I was responsible for roughly 90% of our expenses (rent, bills, groceries…etc.), while she covered maybe around 10%.
- When she worked, she contributed to a portion of the rent (maybe for six months during our 2.5 years of marriage). This was done by her sending me money to my bank account, which I use to make rent payments.
- When she did not work, I sent her money to her bank account so she could buy anything she needed.
- We did not keep detailed track of who sent the other what (but there are bank statements we can always refer to).
Some cultural contexts: I know this is
legally irrelevant, but I wanted to mention this here so that you understand my rationale for the legal questions:
- In our “cultural” marriage agreement (which won’t hold in court), I had to pay her the equivalent of 10K and buy her a diamond ring (roughly costs 2K) for the privilege of marrying her. I did give her that before the legal marriage contract.
- If I were to seek to divorce her, under our cultural marriage agreement, I would have to pay her the equivalent of 20K.
- If she were to seek to divorce me under our cultural marriage contract, then she would have to return what I had paid (10K + ring).
- She claims that I lied to her by hiding a mental health issue she had just noticed after giving delivery. Therefore, our cultural marriage is invalid, and, in that case, I would still have to pay her the 20K even though she is the one seeking the divorce.
- Context on the “mental health” issue she claims I have: I make voluntary exaggerated hand gestures and face gestures when I get stressed, excited, or daydreaming. I do them more frequently around significant life events (e.g., the birth of my first child!). I avoid making those in public but do them privately at home as they help me express myself. It is not something I ever considered a problem or something I disclose to people (since I fully control it). It is also something I have had for life. She claims that this is scaring her and insists I see a doctor. I explained that this is who I am, not some illness, and it is not something I need fixing and that I am not seeing a doctor. I explained that it posed no danger to her, and she saw how perfectly normal I was during our very happy 2.5 years of marriage. This is the main reason for the problems and why she seeks to separate.
- Since I know I did not lie to her, she should NOT be seeking the 20K (and even return the 10K + rings) under this cultural context. I know none of this is relevant in court, bringing me to my legal questions.
Legal questions: Considering that she is not getting what she wants (20 K), I think she will be seeking a divorce under Canadian law, where she may seek to get half my assets. Here are my legal questions:
- I want to maintain the right to see my child. What can I do here to make sure she does not prevent me from seeing him? I am OK with her getting full custody and paying her child support for him.
- Whenever I wanted to see him, I would have to go on a 6-hour bus ride each way. I am willing, but considering how far she took him, this feels unfair.
- Considering the cultural context, I want to “protect” my checking account from her. Considering that we have to be separated for one year before she applies for divorce, can I do something to protect my bank account from her? I am considering something like sending my money to my parents and relatives.
- I am hoping that this bank account will not be considered marital property.
- Final note: I use the word “protect” because her reasons for seeking divorce are stupid at best, and she is being extremely irrational. I feel I am being punished for no valid reason. On top of that, she took our son away when he could have lived a happy life with both of us around. She would not listen to reason and come back.

2023.03.20 18:50 LetterGrouchy6053 It didn't hit the fan yet, but it will.
To date, Donald Trump is the target of at least five civil, and criminal investigations.
There is the upcoming criminal indictment he faces for money laundering and campaign finance law violations in New York, the civil suit for slander, (again in New York), the Department of Justices’ investigation about his involvement in the attempted coup in addition to yet another Justice Department investigation over his theft of Classified material and the attendant question of what he was going to do with them.
(His range of choices was staggering and terrifying.)
Then there is the matter of the Fulton County, Ga, Grand Jury (reportedly ready to indict Trump and his co-conspirators), looking into the matter of him criminally interfering with the state’s election process, and still another NY criminal investigation into his company’s business practices that could bankrupt the company.
There are other investigations into other potential crimes (too many to list here) going on behind the scenes that do not bode well for the former president.
But do you know what is also percolating just beyond the glimpse of the public? The 1/6 Congressional Committee report on the senators and some Congress people's direct involvement in the attempted coup.
They have not been forgotten.
Scott Perry, Doug Mastriano, Josh Hawley, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Paul Gosar, Mark Meadows, Matt Gaetz, Louie Gohmert, Kelli Ward, Mo Brooks. Jim Banks, Tom Cotton, Mike Lee, and a despicable cast of co-conspirators -- election deniers all and plotters all -- are shaking in their Gucci boots, awaiting the ax to fall.
They are frantically raising money for their defense, even while knowing there is no defense against treason.
The hue and cry is all about Trump now. If the authorities can indict a former president, these scoundrels don't stand a chance.

2023.03.20 18:37 XSrcing Sheriff Elfo is retiring.
Copied from Facebook:: From the desk of Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo:
It has been an incredible honor to serve the people of Whatcom County and the great team at the Sheriff’s Office as your Sheriff, since 2003. My current term as Sheriff ends in January of 2024. At that time, I will have continuously served in law enforcement for just shy of 50 years. I plan to retire from the profession and do not intend to seek another term as your Sheriff.
I am absolutely humbled by the quality of people who serve at the Sheriff’s Office. Their level of commitment to protecting the community with care, compassion and professionalism are unparalleled. The current environment presents many challenges that moving forward, will require extraordinary leadership. My departure, however, will not result in any voids. Our highly developed and capable leadership team is fully prepared to meet all challenges and propel the Sheriff’s Office to new heights in excellence, integrity and teamwork. You will be in good hands!
Over my remaining months in office, I will ensure we continue to attract high-quality people into our organization and advocate for acquiring the infrastructure needed for public safety, officer safety and the effective administration of justice.
I am most grateful to our team and all who supported our efforts, both past and present; those who have shared their wisdom with me along the way; and my family that sacrificed so much so I could be part of this noble profession and answer what I always considered, a calling from God. Thank you to all!
As the day of retirement draws closer, it will be personally difficult. I plan on remaining active in the community through volunteer and charitable service. I will also continue to be an advocate for crime victims; the brave men and women of law enforcement; and all who support them.
Thank you all and God Bless.

2023.03.20 18:34 justanotherdude1988 President Biden
President Joe Biden,
I am not very eloquent and I certainly have a difficult time of expressing myself effectively at times, but I wanted to send you this letter to try and thank you for all that you are doing in office and just for being the stellar human being that you are.
I am a transgender woman and for months since coming out I have heard nothing but hate being spewed by the right at my community. For months I have heard religious clergy and leaders on the right all but calling for the murder and destruction of people like me simply for the crime of existing. I have been equated to being a pedophile and a groomer simply because my gender does not correspond with what I was biologically assigned. It has been a difficult time enduring this. It has been painful. I have felt like my existence has been equated to that of the existence of something less than that of an animal. Seeing these things day after day has left me feeling defeated and like any hope for a bright future in the United States has been lost for those of us identifying as transgender. It has been painful to realize that my existence seems to be boiled down to nothing more than political talking points used by the right as a ploy to incite fear and retain their power. It just has not been a good time. However, I wanted to let you know the type of hope you are inspiring in people like me and many others.
I was at the book store on Saturday this week and I stumbled across a book titled “Tomorrow Will Be Different”. I had no idea who the author was, but what stood out to me was the message on the cover stating “Forward by Joe Biden”. I don’t know why this particularly stood out to me and compelled me to purchase the book, but it did. I purchased the book and returned home. As I began reading the book I started with your forward…
President Biden, I want you to know how deeply your words in this forward affected me. At a time where I am afraid for my life in this country and where my existence is seemingly being legislated away by the right, the words you wrote expressing your affinity for Ms. Sarah McBride and my community were overwhelming. I felt seen. You spoke of Sarah in such humanizing words and with such respect and then when I stopped and realized that this is the President of the United States saying these things… Wow. The President of the United States, the most powerful man in the country and arguably the world, sees us and hears us and is allied with us. I cried. It was so overwhelming because for the first time in months I felt safe and hopeful in my country. I felt like someone had my back. I cannot adequately tell you in words or express to you how much of a big deal this was for me. Thank you.
All it takes is a spark to inspire and your words and respect for trans people have certainly inspired me. Thank you for being such a wonderful and caring human being. Thank you for seeing us and for advocating for us. Thank you for seeing our humanity and above all thank you for standing with us. I am proud to have you on our side and I feel hope knowing you’re here. I thought I lost my hope as a result of all the anti trans laws being proposed and passed throughout the county. But you inspired me and you made me feel like I was worth something and my life meant something in how you spoke about Sarah and this community.
If you ever need a vote in 2024 you’ve got mine, hands down. I feel privileged to be in a country that is being served by such a great, empathetic leader who truly sees and wants to help “the least of these”. Keep on keeping on and much love to you and your family. Again, thank you. I cannot say that enough. Thank you.
Respectfully, A transgender woman

(His range of choices was staggering and terrifying.)
Then there is the matter of the Fulton County, Ga, Grand Jury (reportedly ready to indict Trump and his co-conspirators), looking into the matter of him criminally interfering with the state’s election process, and still another NY criminal investigation into his company’s business practices that could bankrupt the company.
There are other investigations into other potential crimes (too many to list here) going on behind the scenes that do not bode well for the former president.

2023.03.20 18:14 SVW1986 How has this legal argument not been made?
So here is (one of) my legal arguments against the "a fertilized egg is a person and aborting a fertilized egg is murder" bullshit.
A fertilized egg will never, ever, become a "person" without a uterus. You can leave a fertilized egg in a petri dish for nine months, and it will never become a baby. Ectogenesis isn't a thing (at the moment), so without a woman's uterus/womb, a fertilized egg can never develop into anything other than a fertilized egg. Much like without an egg, a sperm will never in and of itself become a person.
Denying an egg a sperm is not "murder". How is denying a fertilized egg a uterus, therefore, murder? If I choose to deny a fertilized egg access to my uterus, or remove it from my uterus, how does me having control over a part of my body constitute murder? If I decide to have a hysterectomy after implantation, how is that murder? Or, if I have a hysterectomy and then an egg gets fertilized in my body after the fact, would that be considered premeditated murder in these asshole's mind? I chose to remove a part of my body needed to turn a fertilized egg into a person. So does me denying the fertilized egg that element constitute murder, and if not, why then, in their minds, does me choosing to remove a fertilized egg from my uterus constitute murder? At what point in these people's minds does a woman lose control of her uterus to the fetus? Upon fertilization? Implantation?
I am one of those people who loves to argue (I missed my calling in life with law school). I love finding the round about legal arguments that lawyers don't tend to go to. And I find in legal arguments about abortion, the anti-choice crowd routinely returns to the idea of "the baby's body isn't your body". Correct. But the uterus required to turn a fertilized egg into a baby isn't the baby's body, either, it's mine. I don't understand how a woman loses the right to a piece of her body when she becomes pregnant in their minds. There are so many ways to utilize this argument and they just never went there. If I ever argued a SC case in favor of abortion, my go to argument would be that denying a fertilized egg my uterus is literally no different than denying an egg sperm. Sperm is not a person. An egg is not a person. A fertilized egg is not a person. None of those things can just "become" a person without another (or multiple other) elements, and in the case of a fertilized egg, it's a uterus. Denying a fertilized egg access to the body part of someone else is not murder, it's purely bodily autonomy. It's no different than people having the right to deny someone a kidney, even if the other person needs it for survival. The government can not force me to donate a kidney to anyone, even my own child, even if the child is going to die without it. So why then can the government force me to donate my uterus in order to keep a fetus alive?
If I can choose to not give sperm access to my egg, why can I not choose to deny a fertilized egg access to my uterus?
More over, why are these arguments never made in actual court hearings regarding abortion? These to me are the most basic and logical arguments against force pregnancy, yet I feel like they have never been brought up in any court case.
Sorry, long ramble.

2023.03.20 18:09 miarrial War in Ukraine: Medvedev threatens the International Criminal Court with an air strike
Link Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has gushed about the International Criminal Court just hours before an important meeting between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev let loose about the International Criminal Court, just hours before an important meeting between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin. INTERNATIONAL – He is no longer one slip away. The former Russian president risks being slapped on the knuckles after his new outing, as Russia welcomes Chinese President Xi Jinping to its soil with great fanfare, for the first time since the start of the war in Ukraine.
While Vladimir Putin is preparing to welcome his Chinese counterpart this Monday, March 20, in order to instil a
“new impetus” to Sino-Russian relations, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev did not fail to get noticed with a new release concerning the arrest warrant issued against Vladimir Putin at the end of last week.
What’s next after this ad After comparing the International Criminal Court (ICC) and its arrest warrant to toilet paper on Friday, Dmitry Medvedev was less tender on Monday by threatening the international court in The Hague (Netherlands) with an air strike.
After calling the ICC ”
shitty and useless “, the former Russian head of state now vice-president of the Security Council of Russia declared:”
The court is just a miserable international organization, not the people of a NATO country. So they won’t start a war for that. They are afraid. And no one will regret it. So, citizen judges, take a good look at the sky…”. “All the stupid decisions of the UN and other structures will come to light. The dark twilight of the whole system of international relations is looming on the horizon. Trust is exhausted”, dropped Dmitry Medvedev in a Telegram message broadcast on Monday morning. Not stingy with flowery language against the ICC, he even believes that “
the episode (…)
who killed credibility (…)
of the court concerns American crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq. The court shit themselves on it and couldn’t do anything..
” Two weights, two measures “
China had also been critical of the warrant issued by the ICC on Friday, with more tweezers, however, asking it to avoid the
” Two weights, two measures ” this Monday.

A Chinese reaction that comes just hours before the start of Xi Jinping’s state visit to Russia, the first in nearly four years.
“The International Criminal Court must adopt an objective and impartial position, respect the immunity from jurisdiction of heads of state under international law”Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for Chinese diplomacy, said on Monday in response to a question on the subject.
The institution must
“avoid politicization and the politics of double standards”, he pointed out to the press, in a reference to other military interventions that did not give rise to any arrest warrant from the Head of State. Wang Wenbin was questioned on the opportunity for Xi Jinping to confirm his state visit to Russia despite this international arrest warrant against Vladimir Putin.

2023.03.20 18:05 NeptuneTL What’s the likely outcome for assault to injury charges?
SCOTLAND
I posted earlier, but it was a very long and confusing post, so here I am again asking straight to the point.
What is the likely outcome of this case? Prison? Fine? Criminal record? Court is in a few weeks, and we are trying to figure out how this could play out.
- Charged with assault to injury, and spent the night at the police station.
- Both person charged and victim were heavily intoxicated and misunderstanding a situation.
- Arrested and charged based on witness statement from someone on the street witnessing who looked for just a second and called authorities, they said they would testify.
- No serious injuries, bruises, or similar to victim. No trauma or distress.
- Victim wants case dropped and will testify in favour of the defence if need be.
- No previous incidents or criminal record. Law abiding citizen with a job, flat, education, and good character.
Thank you!! Again, this is in Scotland.

2023.03.20 18:00 Butchered-by-Sidle Douglas Sidle at Northwestern Memorial Hospital is a butcher?
I thought I went to a reputable medical institution in Chicago, for a minor aesthetic adjustment that should last no more than 1.5 hours. Instead, I was treated with a forced full reconstruction of the nose (functional procedures), with nasal bones and dorsal lines completely hacked, wood-hard and thick rib pieces inserted along the full septal length, tip ligaments severed, lateral cartilage and lateral crura resected and/or removed, radix erased, caudal septum cut off and thrown away like an unneeded body part, columella thinned, de-vascularized and severely traumatized, retreating all the way to the septum, voluminous scroll area (i.e. cartilaginous and ligamental tissues around the midvault that support the midvault and the tip) was cut out and thrown away as if it was an unneeded body part. The blood supply from the tip to nasal sides to radix was severely damaged, leading to a global shrinkage/contraction of the nose. Alar rims have retracted by up to 1cm, nose was shortened by about the same length of 1cm (or about 20% of the total nose length). Soft tissues underneath the skin are now completely atrophied after blood supply cutoff and nasal bones aggressive (over)rasping. Normal nose thus has become a pinocchio-looking and pinocchio-feeling dysfunctional nose. Severe dysautonomia due to the postop respiratory distress has followed.
To add to the insult, a doctor took a soldering iron called "coblation device" and started burning the insides of my nasal cavities, causing permanent damage to submucosal glands, stroma and cilia, leading to severe dryness, excessive open space inside the nasal cavities and, ultimately, "empty nose syndrome" (ENS), respiratory distress and sleep apnea, among other nasty health issues that that doctor created for me. This is how Sidle treated me, forcing 3.5 hour functional septo-rhinoplasty procedure that was medically unnecessary, aesthetically damaging and completely premeditated by Sidle & Co. at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, just to get to my insurance money and train his residents/fellows multiple procedures on a living human being.
It was not only Sidle who caused me damage on the operating table that day. Half of the assault came from Sidle's ghost surgeon, an unsupervised AAFPRS fellow. A gross violation of the AMA Principles of Medical Ethics that state that "if a resident or other physician performs the procedure under nonparticipatory supervision, the patient should be fully informed of this fact" and that "a surgeon who allows a substitute to operate on his or her patient without the patient's knowledge and consent is deceitful".
Of course, Sidle has billed my insurance tens of thousands dollars for those medically unnecessary harmful procedures. Sidle himself has increased his own payout by $9K+, billing my insurance company the so-called "professional changes" for those medically unnecessary maneuvers. Interestingly, before and right after the surgery, Sidle told me that he "didn't need to do much on me", and that he "won't bill insurance". Sidle and his/its hospital billed my insurance a total of $60k! The surgery was close to the year end, and $60k that Sidle "brought" to the hospital, has definitely favorably impacted the year-end bonus Sidle gets as a Director at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. So, on my suffering and lifelong injuries, Sidle has made about $20k which seems too cheap of a price for a human life Sidle took.
To sum it up, Sidle's true qualification is taking a healthy normal functioning nose and converting it into a nonfunctional pinocchio-like structure, parallelly causing severe respiratory distress, dysautonomia and other harm to a patient's health, like it happened in my case. Sidle's true calling in this world should be swiping the alleys in Chicago, and definitely not treating patients, as obviously Sidle doesn't know what he is doing to the living beings that happen to get into his hospital trap. Sidle does a lot of intentional harm in the medical field by premeditatively pushing medically unnecessary harmful procedures on his patients, as you can see from other Sidle's patients reviews over the last decade. In 2001-2002, Sidle's actions as a resident at Northwestern during a neck surgery, have led to the death of the patient, with a few million dollars paid to the patient's estate and lawyers after the jury trial. Please see the details in the malpractice case # 2003-L-011241 filed 2003-09-19 against Douglas Sidle, MD, Rakesh Chandra, MD, with Chicago Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Since that year, Sidle doesn't seem to have changed much, as my experience shows.
All I feel now is a severe trauma to my upper respiratory function and my face. All I see now is extreme postsurgical atrophy of the operated sites, caused by this dishonest surgeon(s) at a supposedly "reputable" institution in the city of Chicago. It was more of a ga-ng ra-pe rather than a surgery: Sidle and his ghost surgeon have ripped me off of my health, substantially diminished the quality of my life, destroyed my good aesthetics, robbed thousands of dollars from my insurance. Insulted my grandmother, insulted my grandfather, insulted my mother, insulted my father, assaulted and insulted myself.
Run when you see that name on a surgical panel list: Douglas Matthew Sidle. That individual's corruption 100% guarantees you injury and harm to your health and your aesthetics. This particular physician may call himself a "nasal architect" but essentially, Sidle is a charlatan who would do anything for money and illusive "prestige" of his hospital. You will be treated by Sidle like a piece of meat that he can cut any way he wants. Sidle's narcissistic personality disorder (known as a "god complex") makes him think that other people are just the objects to do with as Sidle pleases, to complete his personal objectives. Avoid this joke at all costs.

2023.03.20 17:45 ConsciousBasket643 How to protect myself after a dog fight?
Hey Guys, most of the below was ripped directly from my post from AITA, so if emphasis is put in weird places, forgive me.
I rent the house I live in, and have lived there for about the past 3 years. My next door neighbor and I had never had any reason to not enjoy each others company... except he has this horrible yappy dog (maybe about 15-20 pounds) that is a complete asshole. It goes on these barking sprees for no apparent reason, it growls at me and my dog when we're minding our own business, it's really just the worst.
About 6 months ago, I go into my fenced in back yard to find my next door neighbors dog in my yard, just hanging out. I looked for a hole in the fence but couldnt find one. I still am not sure how he got into my yard. (just for some context, everybody on my street has a fence in the back yard, and theyre all attached. Given as how I rent, Its never really crossed my mind who actually owns the fence). I went to my neighbors house, and told him politely that his dog was in my yard. We politely chatted as he went through my house into my back yard to get his dog. While we went into my house, he noticed my own dog (that my roommate was putting behind a closed door to prevent a dog fight) and I mentioned that he could please try to make sure that his dog doesnt get into my yard, as I let my dog out of the house to go to the bathroom or play whenever he stands at the backdoor, and if his dog happened to be in my yard when I did that, it could be a problem. His response was something to the effect of "you should make sure my dog isnt in your yard before you let your dog out." To which my response was "I think the responsibility here lies with you." That turned into a passive aggressive spat which I ended because it wasnt going anywhere and we havent spoken since.
Until this past weekend. We had a pretty bad storm, and it turns out the wind blew enough of a bend in the fence between our yards that his dog got into my yard (my dog would have been to big to fit through the hole). I let my dog out to go to the bathroom, and they got into a pretty bad fight. Lets just say... my dog won. My dog has no obvious injury. We took him to the vet and the vet said he was 100% fine. His dog on the other hand needs surgery and he is looking at several thousand dollars. He asked me to split the vet bills, and I told him absolutely not. This wouldnt have happened if his dog wasnt in my yard in the first place. If anything, he should pay my vet bill. He said he was going to talk to a lawyer and I told him to be my guest. I asked my friend who is a lawyer if I had anything to worry about, and she told me absolutely not, the law would be 100% on my side.
IS my friend right? What do I need to do to protect myself legally?
