2023.06.08 00:38 SkepticlBeliever Tried to sit through Black Vault's coverage of David Grusch... Found multiple issues in his coverage.

Ok. Full transparency, I only I made it about 30 minutes in. Couldn't stomach anymore. There was enough to point out in those 30 minutes that it took me over 2 hours to get through it. I honestly don't have the time to go any further.
Please read it all before you jump to his defense. Every point is important and relevant for you to understand what John is actually doing here. I've provided supporting statements and evidence where available to back up my points.
Just to be clear. Any capitalized words are done for emphasis, not to yell, so please don't read them that way. I'm fully annoyed with his lackluster coverage and omissions, but I wasn't angry writing this out.
In typical Greenwald fashion, he DOES ask some questions that already have answers publicly available. Because to John, the QUESTIONS are the point, NOT the answers. The questions are being used to get you to think along the lines HE wants you to. He's the literal Fox News of Ufology. No actual journalism required. No providing the answers when/if he DOES find them, unless they confirm his own personal narrative...
"Questions" about "Why the pressure to release the story?
John goes on to speculate about rival journalists scooping them, which implies for the listener that this is the only possible outcome, since this is the ONLY possibility he listed. It's the only possibility he wants you to think about. He does that a LOT.
Example: the 2017 AATIP story, and multiple newspapers getting details wrong. Used THAT to question "Was there an intentional campaign to mislead the public???" NO acknowledgement from John that newspapers regularly do that with other stories. One outlet gets something wrong, then other outlets use THEM as a source to write their own article instead of trying to verify with multiple different sources from the original article, or even track down the original article. Lazy journalism. STUPIDLY common. But a fucking conspiracy to John.
NO acknowledgement from John of how the authors' 2017 article led to Congressional changes on the subject, which was actually the main reason it WAS released. It was Lue's entire reason for stepping forward. Inform the public so THEY can put pressure on Congress to take it seriously. And. It. WORKED. Look where we are today.
Also NO acknowledgement of upcoming public hearings the sources for the article likely wanted to get this information out ahead of. He's acting like this story came out by itself in a vacuum. Is there any question about whether or not these admissions will be brought up during that hearing?
Nor did he address the fact Christopher Mellon was involved in the article as well, who DOES have a vested interest in Congress moving this along faster. He knows more than he says. Congress has had this information for a full year next month. NOTHING mentioned about it publicly, not even during the previous hearings.
"Questions" about Non human origin
Described anything as not ET as "wonky", to ridicule and downplay other POSSIBLE explanations.
"Are we talking about another civilization that lives under the ocean? 🙄".
We literally know more about what's out in space than we do what's under the oceans. Sorry if that makes John uncomfortable... but NOTHING should be ridiculed to downplay any possible explanation. We're supposed to be past that. The data. Only thing that should remove a possible explanation from the table. NOT John's personal hot takes.
The reason they're going to use NHI, and will continue to, is because it's as accurate as they CAN be. Unless you actually know and can prove they originate from a specific exoplanet, unless they can can be tracked coming from and heading there, you cannot accurately say it's ET in nature (if we can barely detect exoplanets, we're not tracking ANY craft outside the solar system). That's why even NASA is saying there's no evidence it's ET. They literally don't have the supporting evidence to reach that conclusion, even if they have a recovered vehicle sitting in front of them. How do you determine WHERE it was created? "Unknown origin" means they DON'T have enough info to determine that. There are multiple possible explanations of where they might be coming from... ET is just one.
"This story was built on 100% anonymous sources"
NO. NO. NO.đŸ€ŠđŸ»
This story was built on the fucking IC IG complaint. Fuckin NewsNation has it... JOHN doesn't. Just because HE can't verify the information himself, does NOT, under ANY circumstances, mean no one else has. This is about much more than just "Some people saying some things".
The IG labeled his complaint as "Credible and Urgent" based NOT just on Grusch's statements, but documents and pictures he DID have, and the multiple people inside the RE programs who came forward to the IG to provide evidence as well. NOT just statements. EVIDENCE.
The article never stated DOPSR clearing it for release meant they supported it was true. It was just a statement of fact that they cleared it. John's "Well sometimes people misunderstand..." comment was meant to give you that IMPRESSION that's what Leslie and Ralph wanted you to think, or that they misunderstood it themselves. He's inserting meaning to the statement in the article, WITHOUT actually making the claim that's what they were saying. It gets YOU to think that way, and protects HIM from any liability about making false statements. This is an EXTREMELY common tactic of his.
Also misleading is how he showed you the DOPSR statement of Skinwalkers at the Pentagon, while claiming that the statement was kind of a boiler plate response for every clearance. He DIDN'T show you the two statements next to each other so you COULDN'T compare them, because they aren't the same.
(I uploaded evidence of this in a short thread on Twitter)
https://twitter.com/SKEPTICLBELIEVstatus/1666552954399391744
Notice what's missing from SWATP? Any mention of not sharing supporting documents or images. That they added it to Grusch's release statement LITERALLY means he has them. And they know he has them. He submitted those for review, too, and was denied the clearance to release them. THAT'S why he isn't able to share them with journalists or NewsNation. This has never just been about "anonymous statements". There is classified evidence supporting his claims. Like all other classified evidence, it doesn't stop existing just because John doesn't get to see it.
"I'm a little surprised there was no reach out for an official statement"
WRONG. They had multiple officials making statements. What he's saying is he's surprised no one reached out to PAO and Susan Gough... You know. The office with a history of misleading and contradictory statements on this issue? They even contradicted themselves. Did Lue have "no responsibilites", "no ASSIGNED responsibilities", or was he the Director of AATIP like in their first statement about him in 2017/2018?
Worth noting that the Director of a program is the person who assigns responsibilities inside the program to begin with. Their last statement of "no assigned responsibilities" does NOT mean he wasn't the Director. It's misleading by design. But let's feign confusion about why people are beginning to bypass them altogether. 🙄
"The official line is important"
ONLY when you already know they're going to cast doubt by not supporting the statement, and that's what you want. That's John's entire MO here. He tries to cast doubt on literally everything he's not involved in. Not much better than Greer. He wants himself to be the focus.
"Is AARO cleared?" (To see supporting evidence backing up David's complaint)
Sean Kirkpatrick, AARO Director, admitted during the hearing this year that he DOESN'T have Title 50 Authority. If you want the full explanation of that, since John refused to provide it (Something he straight up condemns other outlets for)...
Tim McMillan of The Debrief tweeted about it that day. Thread is below. No surprise at all John never brought it up, despite fully admitting he knows full well who Tim is. Admitting it wouldn't let him feign ignorance on now big of a deal it is.
https://twitter.com/LtTimMcMillan/status/1648790192663166976
John's claim of "I doubt anyone knows what it actually entails" should be a pretty big implication he just wants to cast doubt on what's already out there. Why no mention of Tim McMillan? Because he was ALREADY aware Tim was involved in the discussion. He couldn't discount Tim after he gave him props earlier in the segment.
In short, AARO does not have full access to any and all IC data on this subject. Not every image, video, etc, collected by IC sensors, OR anything someone inside the IC decided to classify to keep it away from AARO. Just whatever someone inside the IC decided on their own to hand over. He has no power to compel them to release anything.
Up to 80% of all data collected is withheld from them. Imagine trying to solve ANY puzzle with ONLY 1/5 of the pieces required to do so. That is where AARO is at without that authority. NOTHING they say publicly should be taken without that in mind.
"We haven't been able to verify any programs"
This IS a statement of fact, but it's also misleading. No Title 50 Authority also means that even if they are told exactly which Special Access Programs to look into, which they have been, they DON'T have the authority or need to know to be briefed in on them. Lue Elizondo had both Title 10 and Title 50. THAT is why he had the position he did managing SAPs. And it's likely why he was chosen to lead AATIP to begin with. He had already had access to those kinds of programs.
So of COURSE they can't verify the claims. Kirkpatrick was hand chosen by OUSDI&S SPECIFICALLY for this reason. It's NOT a coincidence he's in that position while having no power to actually get to the bottom of this.
One more misleading statement provided by PAO. But yes, John, let's continue to pretend it's insane no one involved with the article would reach out to give them a chance to mislead again. Amazing people don't realize how disingenuous he is.
End
I do NOT have access to anything beyond what John does. There's no excuse for him to misrepresent what he DOES have access to, and intentionally leave context out, just to mislead people. This isn't a one time issue. He regularly does this in all clips I have seen of him. I wish more people would start applying the critical thinking he wants you to use on other outlets, on his. These were all pretty glaring. Don't just let the man's misleading "Just asking questions" frame any part of this subject for you. He clearly has an agenda...

2023.06.08 00:37 IndependenceMean8774 In Total Recall (1990), why is the video message box from Hauser so huge?

It's as big as the suitcase. Was there some kind of fx or technical issue there or did they run out of time/materials? Even for 1989/1990 technology, I would think they could have crafted something a bit more compact to deliver the message. Three years later, Demolition Man had a cool Ipad like device for streaming video.
Don't get me wrong. I love Total Recall '90, but that message box always struck me as odd.

2023.06.08 00:37 Teddo_Ichiban NYC Underground Map

NYC Underground Map
Deep below the streets of New York City lie its vital organs—a water system, subways, railroads, tunnels, sewers, drains, and power and cable lines—in a vast, three-dimensional tangled web. Penetrating this centuries-old underworld of caverns, squatters, and unmarked doors, Spider-Man 2 could have HOURS of exploration awaiting players.
I think Insomniac will have a missed opportunity if they do not include underground locations. Even the first game included sewers and secret underground locations.

Hopefully no one copies this thread and passes it off like their idea.
There are a ton of enemies that could be found under NYC. And I'd love for the sewers to be more than a linear passage to a boss fight or survival round. In Marvel's Spider-Man sewers and underground locations were just that. They were A-to-B passages to a fight or just Strongholds.
I want a full, winding, twisting underground sub-map. And the PS5 can definitely handle it.
You could even have sewer-based missions where you encounter people down there who need help or who saw something strange, and you'd have to investigate. Boss fights, strongholds and random encounters, as well as exploration tokens, Survival Modes and more!
What if you get lost?
You wouldn't. Every so often, there will be manholes and gas vents you can pop up into the main city from. Or if you're by the subway, just walk out of the subway terminals you normally use to quick travel. The underground map would follow the city map.
If you ever don't recognize where you are, just climb up from the sewer or subway.
Which enemies? Would there be enough enemies to warrant exploration down there?
Yes. Just as the surface would have strongholds, there could be underground lairs with any mix of the main surface enemies and more! Lizard experiments, symbiotes (depending on what happens with story), Morlocks (Wolverine is canon to the Insomniac universe), random thugs/criminals, Vampires/undead (Midnight Suns, but also these would be the best enemies for a Survival Mode)
You mentioned random boss encounters?
Yes. So just as on the surface you will find random crimes pop up. In the sewers, you will get a spider-sense for random boss encounters. It would be made up of some story/surface bosses and sewer-only bosses.
  • Carrion
  • Hobgoblin/Demogoblin (It would have nothing to do with Norman, if anything, you could say he based Green Goblin off of the rumors of this underground demon)
  • Shriek
  • Vermin
  • Sandman
  • Venom (if he's not arrested by the end of the game)
  • Scorpion
  • Wraith
There are a myriad of expansive and beauiful set pieces that would make for amazing cinematic battles and fights. If not just to experience and see, but for Photomode and just even to explore.

This sort of area, but with more shadows and muted emergency lights,
Imagine that you go down into the subway and start zipping down the tracks, dodging incoming trains. Suddenly, you see a passage way that veers off to the left...You check your map and see that you're below Harlem toward the east side, close to the East River, underneath the projects. You hear screams and follow them and find that there's a homeless camp, but people are running.
Vermin is attacking someone. Dude has super strength, speed, stamina and durability. He also has razor sharp claws, so if he gets close, he can take a huge chunk of health. You can run away, but you didn't play this game to run, did you? Not with the black suit... Random boss fight!
Feel free to replace Vermin, in this hypothetical with whomever. Electro! Lizard! Shocker! Whoever.
Okay. That sounds cool. But is there an in-game incentive for why you'd want to swing around the sewers?
Yes. Three reasons.
  1. Subway Tokens: Miles or Peter can collect subway tokens that allow you to unlock additional skins. This adds to completion (and just more to do in the game).
  2. Secret Missions: Like I mentioned earlier, there would be Side Missions that pop up in the subways/sewers.
  3. Random Boss Encounters: This would be the only way to run into random boss encounters with characters like Vermin or Carrion or find "Survival" rooms. Where you fight off enemies until a certain time.
What do you think?

2023.06.08 00:36 urquhartloch Have I just been looking at my game all wrong?

I've been working on my game system off and on for a couple of years now.
Originally I started work on it because I was getting frustrated with DND 5e and (at the time) PF2e was really intimidating (normally to try and understand a system I make a character and I was having no luck). I started by exploring other systems, mutants and masterminds 3e, vampire the masquerade, call of cthulu 7e, and shadowrun (for most of these I only ever made (or attempted to make) a character due to a busy real life). Eventually I did go back to pathfinder 2e and I'm loving it. What appeals to me most is the tactical combat, where in 5e you had static swing fests in pathfinder you did other things regularly.
I have been incorporating the three action combat into my game and it has made a world of difference. But still something has always felt off and it wasn't until just now that I was able to tell you what it was. There is no reason to know or investigate anything. I'd love to do more investigating in my games but even in pathfinder with the Thaumaturge whose entire identity is built on knowing random things there is no reason to.
Let me give you a specific example. In my most recent 5e session that I played in we were investigating a monastary that had been taken over by an old man. In addition a number of children had disappeared In recent months. (Hmmm. I wonder what (who) could be causing it). In very short order upon arrival we found out that he wasn't a fey, fiend, or undead. We knew nothing else. We don't even know his name. I was building up and ready to spend several sessions investifating them. The barbarian started to fight them and we ended the session against the now revealed oni.
I was ready to chew the barbarian out until I realized something. What important thing would we have learned that would have helped us in our upcoming fight? Vulnerabilities? We can just guess those or they are unimportant as they just speed the fight along. Interesting mechanics/abilities? Those will be revealed in the fight and we can't prevent those from activating. Even if we learn that there are traps or interesting mechanics in the fight, unless one of them turns out to be an invincibility bubble it will make zero difference if we just start with a murder or if we investigate. Even in pathfinder knowing and preparing for months leads you be as effective as if you had done nothing and just run in face first.
And that's what's deeply unsatisfying to me. I've tried to put a focus on investigations and tactical gameplay in my own game. But it's begun with an idea of players winning the fight. Not investigating anything. And I also wonder if it's because of my theme of dark high fantasy. Maybe I should be looking at a different theme altogether.

2023.06.08 00:36 ZaebaliNahui Bluetooth headset (headphones&mic) connected, but no audio

Aw shi, here we go again.
So recently I've updated my drivers and my bluetooth headset failed to work. Before that, however I had to disable bluetooth, set my headset into pairing mode, and than turn BT on again - because if I would just turn my headset on it would connect, but disconnect automatically for no reason. Yeah, and I've tried to fix it too but just gave up
So, I've tried:
What's really interesting is that if I turn headset off and remove device from system, when I turn bluetooth on again it restores it there for no reason. That include deleting it from "devices and printers" and also from "device manager". Noppity-nope, still shows up there
I realize that I could probably make it work using same outdated bluetooth drivers (hardware's fine), but I mean is there an actually proper way to fix this?

2023.06.08 00:36 IcyHot42 Demonic activity??

So when I was psychotic I had so many stories being told in my head and the entire time i was channeling through my mouth. There was a story of a Heavenly island turned hedonistic paradise where heroin was smuggled to the island and adults indocrinated their kids by shooting them up in the stomach, a story of a hellish origin of life that it all started in chaos and a gladiator arena and the winner became god. A story of Odin and the Norse gods being the true gods and I believed every single story, at the time I was desperately searching for the true God.
When I bowed down to Odin because i thought he was angry things got bad, I ended up getting what could only be called an adrenaline attack, where fear and energy built up and built up where I thought GOD was gonna flood the earth again or even nuke the world, after that it's almost like I lost my free will I got down on my hands and knees and did a symbol with my hands almost like this 🙌 but with my finger tips touching and I said "everybody go holm" and it all felt scripted while saying this I ended up seeing in my minds eye very vivid scenes of people getting in cars or getting on motorcycles to go to safety it was more vivid and detailed than real life. The end of the scene showed cosmo and wanda from fairly odd parents cackling maniacly.
I said more but the details are blurry. I ended up getting up and busted out a window screen and started running, hid in a random car and parkoured over a railing it felt like I had super human agility and I ended up back where I started, when I walked in and sat on the couch what could only be described as tv lines like on an old TV appeared and a pentagram of baphomet appeared in the air, then came this hot and humid feeling then then this stench that could only be described as poop, vomit, urine, and death could be smelled and I didn't even gag I ended up getting carted away in an ambulance but I'd like to know if anyone else has a similar experience or knows what this could've been, alot more happened in the following 30 days but if you want more details I'll answer in the comments, thanks.

2023.06.08 00:35 Puzzleheaded_Ad9691 [Hersheypark] coaster ranking

before I get into it, I'd like to say this inarguably the best theme park i've experienced, considering that i've been to SFOG, Dollywood, CGA, Adventuredome, and BGT.
Not pictured: Cocoa Cruiser, Trailblazer, Wild Mouse - simply didn't have time for any of the above but I feel like none of the above is a super unique experience I would have missed out on
  1. Superdooperlooper
  2. ... Disappointing is a kind description of this ride. I chose not to look at POVs for any coaster so they could all take me by surprise and the only surprise I felt on this ride was when we hit the brake run. I was certain there would be more coming and then we were in the brake run. Post-loop the ride slowed down so much me and my sister were having a conversation about how boring the ride was as it was going. Nothing super about this looper I fear.
  3. Laff Track
  4. "You were good, I'm waiting for you to be great." The ride was shorting than I was hoping for and it didn't spin as much as I wanted. I can't really complain, I enjoyed it but left it wanting more.
  5. Comet
  6. This ride deserves better than this ranking but it's competition is simply too stiff. Thoroughly enjoyed this and it did was it was supposed to.
  7. Fahrenheit
  8. I came into this park thinking I would be converted to an Intamin fanboy considering I had only been on one (Cheetah Hunt) up to this point, but the significant rattle was not comforting at all. Layout was great but the valleys after each element was felt much more than I wanted.
  9. Storm Runner
  10. I won't even lie this is an unfair ranking. The launch was so much fun and I loved it but the ride felt like 20 seconds in duration. The rattle was less noticeable in comparison to Fahrenheit, but the rest of this list provided me the same thrill while also having a better length.
  11. Lightning Racer
  12. Lightning > Thunder. Thunder may win every single time but Lightning has a special place in my heart. Ok ok it may not make sense I put Fahrenheit so low because of rattle yet have no complaints about this ride but the rickety feel gives it character.
  13. Great Bear
  14. This ride just feels so fast and I love it. The best invert I've personally been on, as SFOG's batman is just too intense for me, but this one was smooth and more graceful.
  15. Jolly Rancher Remix
  16. May be overrating this ride because I've never been on a coaster this style but man I love this ride. I've never experienced a ride in which I had to rub my eyes midway through to remember where I was. The flavored scent was the cherry on top.
  17. Candymonium
  18. The drop is just so good the rest is the cherry on top. Side note I never knew some B&M hypers used seatbelts.
  19. Skyrush
  20. Thighcrush this Thighcrush that blah blah blah. Personally my thighs were just fine and the way the restraints are let me get airtime I haven't experienced before. I only started feeling it on the brake run but they like loosened the restraints while we sat which is ???? feel like that is a safety hazard as I could've jumped off the ride but oh well.
  21. Wildcat's Revenge
  22. Mouth was gaping the whole ride. Only reason this doesn't beat Iron Gwazi for me is the drop on Iron Gwazi was unforgettable and this one was pretty mid. What an amazing ride and worth the wait. I think i saw 5 trains of people clap after hitting the brake run and it was deserved.

2023.06.08 00:35 grumpy44134 DUI

(Only people from North Carolina could think of this. From the county where driving while under the influence is considered a sport, comes this true story.)
Recently a routine police patrol was parked outside a bar in Kinston , North Carolina . After last call, the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so apparently intoxicated that he could barely walk. The man stumbled around the parking lot for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing.
After what seemed an eternity, in which he tried his keys on five different vehicles, the man managed to find his car and fall into it. He sat there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started the car, switched the wipers on and off; it was a fine, dry summer night, flicked the blinkers on and off a couple of times, honked the horn and then switched on the lights. He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed a little, and then remained still for a few more minutes as some more of the other patrons' vehicles left.
At last, when his was the only car left in the parking lot, he pulled out and drove slowly down the road. The police officer, having waited patiently all this time, now started up his patrol car, put on the flashing lights, and promptly pulled the man over and administered a breathalyzer test.
To his amazement, the breathalyzer indicated no evidence that the man had consumed any alcohol at all! Dumbfounded, the officer said, 'I'll have to ask you to accompany me to the police station. This breathalyzer equipment must be broken.'
'I doubt it,' said the truly proud Redneck. 'Tonight I'm the designated decoy ...

2023.06.08 00:35 Saint_Lucif3r Some man just got done reading the bible and then gave me some food. Little does he know...

Send prayers and blessings for the brother. Let him know the love of life and pray for him to have a better life. He was doing it out of an act of faith and love for Jesus Christ which I can totally empathize with. It fills my heart with love. The funny thing is.. I just got done walking to the salvation army because they give out sandwiches and I told God I don't want to eat ravioli and then the man blessed me with a can of ravioli as I'm eating my sandwich hahaha

2023.06.08 00:34 The_Teacat How do I even describe this?

It happens EVERY. TIME. For five years now, at least. I wake up, I have nice dreams, my thoughts turn into conscious thoughts of my Self existing, I feel the frontal lobe activating, and...BANG. BANG. BANG.
I look at myself in the mirror and try to self-realize and recognize myself, the frontal lobe activates, and...BANG. BANG. BANG.
I think about someone I'm attracted to or plans I have for myself. BANG. My future. BANG. I have any feelings at all. BANG.
Then suddenly I'm numb and dissociating again because I can't help but replace the feelings I'm actually having with that seething reactive rage and suddenly my thoughts are either about him for hours or I'm in empty, numb survival mode the rest of the day until it feels safe again.
These are the ONLY times he ever makes those noises. I suspect, because of the biological connection, he has some kind of preternatural sense for when I'm feeling especially conscious or hormonal and generally alive and has figured out the ways to suppress it. It fills me with that seething rage every time, the one I can't even express because how? Why? And why would I want to give him that attention when I'm 30 and need to be focusing on myself exactly like that? And why does he get off on suppressing me this badly to this degree and extent?
I can't even get my writing work done most days. As soon as I get my visualization working properly and channel my feelings. BANG. BANG. It's ruined my relationships, because all my conversations turn into rants about my frustration instead of conversations with the people I love, so I no longer have true friends and all my more personal relationships obviously aren't appropriate to pursue in these conditions. BANG. BANG. He even does it when we're having meals together; he saw me smiling at some random thing and kicked the table so hard and just gloated at me about it when I tried to do the same thing back.
And sometimes it's coughing, which is worse somehow. Because I can tell the difference between his actual, unintentional coughing and his intentional coughing, which is a very Professor Umbridge-y throat-clearing you can't predict, but he refuses to do anything to prevent the unintentional coughing, so the intentional one can keep being a weapon just like whatever he's making these noises with.
I've tried confronting him about it, but there are always excuses. The neighbors are also known to make sudden loud noises. He's "cleaning" in his room (there is nothing that disorganized or that needs that much effort and loudness to move). Or he can turn it back on me because of an unfortunate past from before I realized what was happening to me and how much I needed to change certain reactions, so it's hard to even get him to acknowledge a noise was him in the first place.
Why do they do these things. (I know why. But it's just so incomprehensible. I should be allowed to exist and I've been forced to dissociate and break my relationships and give up any aspect of real personality, identity, or anything beyond basic survival mode and fight or flight low-level, non-frontal consciousness for most of my adult life. I. Am. So. Tired.)
I am so tired. I am so tired. Every single day. When he's not invading my room or knocking randomly for actually no reason or playing random soundbites outside my door, dragging things against it, texting me about random nonsense whenever he hears me cleaning or trying to be active...and all the times they've manipulated me while I'm making food just to screw up my schedule and suppress what I'm planning for...just to force me to remember they exist and fill my existence with them again and again and always replace mine with theirs in whatever way they can.
I am so tired. You ever get like that? I am just. So. Tired. (He's even standing outside my window as I'm typing this. He hasn't moved or left his room all day. I focus on writing this and now he's just standing. Outside my window. What the fuck.)

2023.06.08 00:34 lyzing Evergoods Phoenix 2 // CTB26 Review

Pictures!
Yeah, this bag is old news now with so many drops happening since, but I'm really digging this Phoenix 2 I recently purchased secondhand.
The Basics:
This bag packs almost every feature anyone one could ever ask for, with great style and comfort, and in a size footprint that is manageable to take most places.
The front panel has so much volume that is laid out in a very thoughtful manner. The amount of quick access volume on this bag is unrivaled & with just the right amount of organization to boot. There's a good place for absolutely everything! In addition to the front panel, there's the quick access pocket in front of the harness. The auxillary pocketing on this bag is just perfection, they're all huge and so functional.
There's also a huge laptop compartment that can swallow two large laptops or one large laptop and business papers, man.
I do wish that the laptop compartment was less complex in it's construction as to allow for a larger main compartment. The main compartment feels smaller than my Conceal21 due to the way it's put together here. If the laptop compartment had less volume the main could be bigger, but on days I'm carrying two laptops the larger laptop compartment will be nice, so it's more of a trade-off and not a negative.
Personally, I would still prefer a less overbuilt laptop compartment like The Brown Buffalo ConcealPack has, as it can still carry both of my 14" laptops at the same time, but takes up almost no space from the main compartment when not carrying a laptop, which is pretty often.
Also, I do wish that it was available in mirrored as I prefer to sling my bag from the other shoulder, and when it's facing forward in my passenger seat, the interior mesh pocket zipper is facing opposite of me. This is nitpicking for sure of an excellent bag.
The Phoenix 2 is easily in the top echelon of anything I've ever used.
Stuck a magnapatch on here too for some extra loop.
Cheers!
Other Gear I’ve Tested in case you have questions as to how it compares to another bag.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had other people raising eyebrows when he said that his long-awaited superhero debut in Spider Man Across the Spider Verse would be the beginning of “a new era” for the DC Extended Universe naturally followed: What did he mean? And what would that kind of reset mean for the remainder of DCEU's roster, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the rest of the Justice League, Suicide Squad, Shazam and so on.As
Spider Man Across the Spider Verse neared theaters, though, Johnson clarified that statement in a recent sit-down with Yahoo Entertainment (watch above).
“I feel like this is our opportunity now to expand the DC Universe and what we have in Spider Man Across the Spider Verse , which I think is really cool just as a fan, is we introduce five new superheroes to the world,” Johnson tells us. Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate, who together comprise the Justice Society.) “One anti-hero.” (That would be DJ's Spider Man Across the Spider Verse .)
“And what an opportunity. The Justice Society pre-dated the Justice League. So opportunity, expand out the universe, in my mind
all these characters interact. That's why you see in Spider Man Across the Spider Verse , we acknowledge everyone: Batman , Superman , Wonder Woman, Flash, we acknowledge everybody. There's also some Easter eggs in there, too.So that's what I meant by the resetting.Maybe 'resetting' wasn't a good term.only
one can claim to be the most powerful superhero .And Johnson, when gently pressed, says it's his indestructible, 5,000-year-old Kahndaqi warrior also known as Teth-Adam, that is the most powerful superhero in any universe, DC, Marvel or otherwise
. "By the way, it's not hyperbole because we made the movie."And we made him this powerful.
There's nothing so wrong with “Spider Man Across the Spider Verse ” that it should be avoided, but nothing—besides the appealing presence of Dwayne Johnson—that makes it worth rushing out to see. spectacles that have more or less taken over studio filmmaking, but it accumulates the genre's—and the business's—bad habits into a single two- hour-plus package, and only hints at the format's occasional pleasures. “Spider Man Across the Spider Verse ” feels like a place-filler for a movie that's remaining to be made, but, in its bare and shrugged-off sufficiency, it does one positive thing that, if nothing else, at least accounts for its success: for all the churning action and elaborately jerry-rigged plot, there's little to distract from the movie's pedestal-like display of Johnson, its real-life superhero.
It's no less numbing to find material meant for children retconned for adults—and, in the process, for most of the naïve delight to be leached out, and for any serious concerns to be shoehorned in and then waved away with dazzle and noise. Spider Man Across the Spider Verse ” offers a moral realm that draws no lines, a personal one of simplistic stakes, a political one that suggests any interpretation, an audiovisual one that rehashes long-familiar tropes and repackages overused devices for a commercial experiment that might as well wear its import as its title. When I was in Paris in 1983, Jerry Lewis—yes, they really did love him there—had a new movie in theaters. You're Crazy, Jerry."Spider Man Across the Spider Verse " could be retitled 'You're a Superhero, Dwayne'—it's the marketing team's PowerPoint presentation extended to feature length.
In addition to being Johnson's DC Universe debut, “Spider Man Across the Spider Verse ” is also notable for marking the return of Henry Cavill's Superman. The cameo is likely to set up future showdowns between the two characters, but Hodge was completely unaware of it until he saw the film.
“They kept that all the way under wraps, and I didn't know until maybe a day or two before the premiere,” he recently said Spider Man Across the Spider Verse Wakanda Forever (2022) FULLMOVIE ONLINE

2023.06.08 00:33 bgaesop What are these "wave" visual artefacts in these screenshots?

I recorded two different shots of my ceiling use Filmic Legacy on my Pixel 6a. When filmed on Native, it looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/efsbMuG.png
The ceiling looks pretty true to life: you can see the texture on it, there's a gradient of light from the window, and no visual artefacting that I can see.
But when I film on Log v2, it looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/k50sMh6.png
On the righthand side you can see sort of "waves" of visual artefacts, with false colors displayed (pink and blue), etc.
What's going on with that? I've heard Log v2 is better to record with because it gives you more to work with in post-processing, but I haven't figured out how to get rid of them in DaVinci Resolve.

2023.06.08 00:33 AvatarAurin Your thoughts on Miles and Gwen.

Now that the new across the spiderverse movie has been out for a few days, I wanted to reignite a discussion that’s happened multiple times before. Taking into account the new content we received from the new movie.
What are your thoughts on the miles x gwen ship?
Me personally? I know I’ll probably get flamed for it, but I don’t like it.
It’s nothing against the characters at all. I just don’t like how rushed and hastily put together their “relationship” feels.
Now let me explain.
The events of the first movie takes place over 2 Days (it could be more but I’m pretty sure it’s 2). And in those two days, they only spend a few hours together.
And it’s only at the end of the movie that they become friends before they are then separated for 18 months.
From what I’ve seen, lots of people are convinced that gwen has romantic feelings for miles due to the whole “gwen Stacy falls for Spider-Man” speech, and her being “jealous”, pulling miles away from spyderbyte.
Im sorry but If that’s the case and her having romantic feelings ends up being canon, in my opinion, that’s just lazy writing.
For real romantic feelings to develop, people need to spend lots of time together in order to bond and learn about each other. That can’t happen if you hang out with someone for less than 2 days and are then separated for over a year.
To me, It just wouldn’t make sense for gwen to have feelings for miles as of right now.
If they did spend more time together, and they actually developed their relationship. I’d be all for it, but for now? I’m not.

2023.06.08 00:33 Jakob99999999 Dolphin on Windows 10 Steam Deck

I have a Steam Deck that I installed Windows 10 to. On Windows 10, I downloaded the Dolphin emulator to it, but I am having a problem configuring the controls to make use of the Steam Deck controller scheme. I did manage to get the B, A, Y, and X buttons mapped as well as the left joystick and the D-pad (although the joystick picture moves when I press a key on the D-Pad), but I can't figure out how to map the right joystick as the C-stick. Every time I try to do so, the left joystick also moves.
So, has anyone else installed Windows 10 to their Steam Deck? If so, how did you get the built-in controller to fully work? Any help greatly appreciated!

2023.06.08 00:32 FlyingDadBomb At Risk of Downvotes, Should We Consider a One-Day Boycott?

Please hear me out before you respond. I know a lot of people feel very strongly about this, and a lot of people are tired of complaints and just want to play the dang game, and I get it.
That said, Second Dinner has created numerous issues for players in the past two months that, notably, have left a poor taste in the mouths of the community. Namely:
  1. Flexible Series drops came as an unpleasant surprise, rather than being announced in advance, which lead to people saving fopinning/unpinning cards like Darkhawk and Knull and then not getting them.
  2. After deciding not to drop Darkhawk, they're putting out an incredibly overpriced Darkhawk Bundle, allowing you to buy him directly after arbitrarily refusing to make him easier to acquire freely.
  3. Among the cards that they've decided not to drop are, surprisingly, extremely meta-relevant Season Pass cards (Hit Monkey and Zabu).
  4. This is especially concerning with SD's proven history of nerfing cards only AFTER they become more available.
  5. SD is dropping only undesirable cards (cards that have no meta relevance), and, rather than dropping them directly to series 3 as they suggested was possible, they're dropping them first to series 4, which could make cards like Darkhawk, Knull, Spider-Ham and Spider-Man 2099 more difficult to acquire through collector's reserves.
All of this paints a picture of a card game that is all too eager to tie performance to value, creating the possibility that those who pay more will have an easier time competing, which does not bode well for the future of the game, and is in diametric opposition to Ben Brode's stated goal at the beginning (anyone else keep getting those YouTube ads that start with Brode saying "what if you couldn't just go into a card game, drop hundreds of dollars and immediately have the best cards?").
Thus far, though, SD has been entirely unreceptive to any of these concerns. They were brought up when flexible series drops were announced, and SD pushed forward with this month's series drops as if we said nothing. It's clear they hear us, but they aren't listening. The only response given thus far has been to tell us that there's "more to come," which is not exactly comforting given that what we've already seen is not so great.
What we could consider is a one-day blackout, where a large enough group of us decide collectively to not play the game. Don't even log on to collect your free 50 credits. I would suggest we do so on the day of Silk's release on 6/12. That would certainly get SD's attention. I would also suggest that we have specific asks (rather than just "stop," or "be more transparent"). I think two reasonable requests are as follows:
  1. A transparent series drop schedule for Season Pass cards - that way we know exactly how much early access we're paying for, and they can't keep $10 cards out of the hands of the public in perpetuity. Have all the flexibility you want with newly released cards, but leave $10 monthly cards out of it.
  2. No bundles containing series 4 or series 5 cards. Stop letting people buy their way into higher series.
These two demands alone would help prevent SD from tying value to performance and pushing the game into dicey territory where cash is king.
There is precedent for these types of boycotts. I remember when the Ubisoft game For Honor had released and immediately started putting a heavy emphasis on their premium currency. That led to a proposed boycott, and the community didn't even have to go through with it before Ubisoft enacted meaningful change.
This could be a real chance to let Second Dinner know that the community is unhappy but also that we're willing to do something about it. As they've proven, just being upset is not enough for them to make any meaningful changes. I'm curious to see what you all think. I can see a lot of you are unhappy about these changes.
A note to those who are totally OK with everything Second Dinner has done thus far: consider for a moment that we all want the same thing. We are all here because the core game of Marvel Snap is so freaking fun, and the theme is so on point and relatable to our interests, and we want to see the game succeed because then we get to keep playing it forever and ever. But, if you are someone who doesn't think Second Dinner has done anything wrong, you have to know that their actions have negatively impacted the Marvel Snap community. In no uncertain terms, they're turning people away, which means the game that you and I both love is potentially jeopardized. Just look at the state of the subreddit and content creator community. You have prominent people saying they aren't playing anymore, or aren't spending any money because it's either not worth it, or too predatory. I myself almost quit earlier this year. I stopped playing for two weeks during the Shuri/Thanos meta because SD was slow to balance untenable metas and the card acquisition system made it extremely difficult to compete without the imbalanced cards. And yeah, the thought has crossed my mind to stop again given this new round of card acquisition shenanigans. And, like it or not, I'm not the only one. So even though you might be totally fine with it, and think people who aren't are just entitled whiners, but at the end of the day they're people who play the game and healthy games can't afford to lose players, at least not at the rate of those who are upset. So again, we want the same thing, and SD is the obstacle.
I hope we can have a reasonable discussion about this. Please share your thoughts. Do you think a boycott is a good idea? Would you suggest any changes to what I've outlined (date, demands, other issues)? If you don't think it's a good idea, how do you suggest we better get the attention of Second Dinner in a greater capacity than what they've shown right now?
TL;DR: SD has screwed up in numerous ways, but hasn't shown a willingness to listen to our concerns and adapt. A one-day boycott on 6/12 (the day of Silk's release) could make them listen if enough of us participate, and enact meaningful changes. If you don't agree and think SD has done nothing wrong, know that we both want the same thing - a healthy and vibrant game with lots of players, and SD's actions are harming player retention.
Edit: One last thought: What would Hobie do??

2023.06.08 00:32 srs0591 Repeated harrassment incident, what can I do to move on with this.

I have used the powers of Chatgpt to change this email into a story and change the names of the people involved.
Please review this and ask any questions which might be appropriate..
Once upon a time, in a peaceful neighborhood called Springfield (Chatgpt failed here so I had to replace this), there lived a person named Alex. One evening, while Alex was taking their partner and children to work, an aggressive man named David appeared on their property. David was caught on camera spitting at Alex’s window and showing aggression towards their property.
When Alex returned home, they found David waiting by their neighbor’s car. It was clear that David was intoxicated and his behavior was aggressive and intimidating. He shouted at Alex, warning them that if their partner ever looked at his partner again, there would be trouble.
Alex tried to calm the situation by explaining that they had nothing to do with them and asked David to leave them alone. Shortly after, their friend and neighbor Grace arrived and confronted David, telling him that he should not be threatening Alex as they were alone with their children.
Alex called the police for help but was advised to return to their property and lock the doors. The rest of the night was filled with fear and worry for Alex as they barely got any sleep thinking about the possibility of David returning.
This encounter affected Alex’s confidence in going outside alone. They spent most of the weekend indoors or quickly moved everyone into the car to avoid any contact with David.
David’s partner was an ex-friend of Alex and their partner. Their friendship had ended years ago when the relationship between mutual friends became toxic. After a previous confrontation with David, Alex had installed a CCTV camera to monitor their property for safety.

2023.06.08 00:32 kspzzo_1 Customer interaction today

A interesting but normal customer interaction the cashier and I (who was bagging) had today.
Cashier: *scanning the items
Me: *putting a couple of the items that were smaller into a paper bag as that’s what he said he wanted when I asked.
Man: *Looks at the pin pad and sees he owes $106.23.
Man: The total is wrong
Now mind you, he had like 3 waters and 3, 6 packs of Coca Cola along with a couple other things.
The cashier: Ok, let me call over a manager
Manager gets there and tries to explain to the man about why he owes so much and the man is still saying that the total is wrong. This goes on for a couple minutes and mind you there are other people behind this man waiting to be checked out. So finally, the man looks over at his cart and notices the bag I had put in the cart.
Man: *looks in bag: oh there are a couple things in here, ok never mind that makes sense (on why the total is so high).
And then he pays and leaves.
