2023.06.06 03:43 IMHOZen1 John Wick Temporized
With the fourth and (we all know it’s not) “final” Chapter of the John Wick series about to hit home collections, it’s my pleasure to present the most thorough timeline of events you’ll likely ever find!
Beginning with my need to know more on the Blood Marker’s back sporting a connection to Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, I’ve spent the last couple months compiling factoids and context that is notoriously slathered in mystery, and I’ve attempted to give us as many interesting insights pulled from the intricately esoteric web of intrigue the series of John Wick speaks to.
Stripping all the named players in The High Table’s Assassins, and highlighting the rules and dealings behind their shadow economy, you’ll then be dipping your pinkie into the “Temporized” timeline using all kinds of cited sources that allude to the larger world, laid bare for others to connect.
It includes all 4 films entirely scripted, the 2 official spin-off games and John Wick’s Payday outings, the John Wick: Book of Rules comic run teasers/explanation, all we know on the unreleased Continental mini series and Ballerina film, and a few theoretical connections!
I did try to stick to strictly charting the cars and weapons John himself interacts with, as the doc is already sizable, but there’s a few really cool things I’m dying to point out here for those that think they’ve seen it all:
I’ve fully timed 1-4 down to the minute if shown, and found a never-before-seen tidbit in John Wick Chronicles that tells that little bit more about the femme fatale, Ms. Perkins… then we get into the connections to The Package (2013) and Nobody (2021), with all Administrative documents meticulously pulled apart too, revealing all kinds of missable timeable facts that even the fandom Wiki doesn’t chart! (Not even mentioning there’s no timeline in sight on there, either!)
All this and more awaits inside these
316pgs of High Table secrets. I have served. I will be of service. Now it’s your choice. And by all means, if there’s anything I’m missing that you’d like to see covered, do share so I can better refine this in the future!
[For anyone hoping to download this doc for later reference, it’s absolutely free, using password
zàrhomi, be sure to use the à! A relic of my other Temporizing endeavor, meaning “I am permitted” in Assassin’s Creed’s Isu language! ;)]

2023.06.06 03:14 Ch0px2 Unique items
I got 5 unique items today, 7 in total over 2 days. Is this common on nightmare difficulty and it gets rarer on 75+? I heard on one of the dev streams they were very sure that you most likely won't get more than 2-3 per season. Loving the game but I got kinda disappointed since I thought unique items was super rare and was gonna be like a Ber rune from D2.. or even rarer.
Let me know if you have the same kind of luck or maybe I was just really lucky 1 day? Hard to tell since game is so new.

2023.06.06 03:04 Particular-Trade-186 What's your stats?
2023.06.06 03:01 RyanoftheStars It might be counter-intuitive, but Switch's hardware weakness is a strength for me and I hope Nintendo continues to release comparatively weaker hardware.
I know it seems odd to say that, because in theory more powerful hardware only has benefits, I don't actually think that's the case in application. It is has long been true that limitations can lead to beautiful ideas and spark creativity that might not otherwise have been found without them, but that's not entirely what I'm talking about. The Switch is actually plenty powerful and compared to the past, this makes it less of an issue than say the DS or the Gameboy before it, but it still does prompt some of that beautiful creativity. In a holistic lens, the amount of power this handheld can input in terms of game potential is insane and it only ever looks bad in comparison to newer technology.
The bigger problem as I see it is that the Switch's market is fantastic for people like me who are not attached at the hip to the AAA hyped games with hundreds or even thousands of developers working on them. People call the games in this market niche, but I don't think it's necessarily that. Mario Party, Ring Fit Adventure, Cuphead, Dead Cells, Stardew Valley, Nier Automata, Persona 5, these types of games have sold well enough that they're way past niche. I feel like there's bad tendency to say things are either mainstream or niche and there's no middle ground. I like to play a variety of games that range from super low budget indies to mid-sized games with modest budgets, like Atelier Ryza, Daemon x Machina, Yokai Watch or AI: The Somnium Files.
I really missed the days of the PS2 and Gamecube where there were plenty of packaged titles that weren't huge mass market blockbusters, but provided a great variety of experiences that didn't conform to the standards of those mass market super hits. The Nightmare of Druaga was one of my favorite PlayStation 2 RPGs, a brutal roguelike that wasn't nearly as beautiful or epic as Dragon Quest VIII, but just as memorable. I remember playing great games like I-Ninja and Metal Arms alongside the Metroid Primes and Ratchet and Clanks.
The Switch has brought back success for publishers who are pursuing this mid-sized market, whereas in Japan at least, that was completely stamped out by Sony's insistence on pushing high fidelity games the PS4 and PS5. The difference is stark. You see third party success with smaller titles all the time now on the Switch that hasn't been seen since the earlier 2000s. My favorite baseball series, Powerful Pro is back because it's so much easier to satisfy and compete with the market on the Switch and sales rose exponentially for Konami culminating in one of the best games ever released for the long-running 30+ year series where before they didn't even bother with releases anymore because it was seen as not worth it. (In the ultimate irony, the more realistic Konami baseball series now prioritizes releases on the Switch despite its appeal of realistic graphics being closer to the PlayStation's strengths.) It may not be important to you, but it's important to me and you probably have something you love on the Switch that's prospered that I don't even know about.
The second reason the Switch's lack of power doesn't bother me is the huge resurgence in retro game popularity. It may just be a sign of the times that the Switch was able to capitalize on, but seeing as how many developers target the Switch with their releases and how Nintendo's legacy brings with it familiarity with retro back catalogs and how Switch Online subscriptions introduce people to games they might not have tried otherwise, I think it's obvious the Switch has this market really well cornered. I can't believe how many things I never thought would be revived that somehow have gotten revived. Live a Live was obviously a huge surprise and success story that was impacted by Octopath Traveler and the HD-2D engine's success.
But there are tiny, super niche examples that have me overjoyed. G-Mode releases ports of feature phone games from before smartphones became popular and it's amazing. It's the only way to play the Legendary Heracles III on a modern platform with all the horrible bullshit from the Super Famicom version cut out. If you like Earthbound, Sepas Channel is incredible. The Kibukawa Ryosuke Detective File Series are extremely charming, well-written mystery games that scratch on itch for anyone who likes detective games and particularly the fun banter of the Phoenix Wright series investigation sequences. There's an insanely well done puzzle game about poking the air out of bubble wrap!
There's this old Japanese PC game called Demon Castle that got ported to the Switch with a little guide to help people because the original game has old retro puzzle bullshit like "stand here for 60 seconds to get the sword you need to win the game," and when you modernize enough to alleviate those annoyances, the base game is so much fun. It was so successful that they ported the sequel and then a brand new game, 30 years later, based on how well the ports did, that massively expanded the ideas. The whole saga has been one of my treats throughout the Switch's life span.
For many reasons, these just don't get the attention on Sony's platform or on Steam that they do on the Switch. It's possible Nintendo will find a way to cultivate a good balance in the market, but I'm going to be sad if future Nintendo platforms emphasize power to the extent their competitors do and leave behind these kinds of games in the dust. It happened after Sony didn't have to hustle anymore from trying to make the PS3 more successful than its awful launch and the PSP compete with the DS. They completely gave up on the Wild Arms, Loco Rocos, Patapons, Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaika das, Intelligent Qubes, Arc the Lads, Jumping Flashes, Sly Coopers and so on. Nintendo still has those quirkier titles coming out regularly and fosters them, whereas I get the sense that Sony would feel embarrassed marketing their own Japanese-made RPG again, which is disappointing. Fire Emblem Engage is my most played game this year so far with over 150 hours in it and I get the sense Sony doesn't think games like that are premium enough for the PS5 to fund and market them anymore. Keep in mind, I'm not trying to say the PS5 is awful or anything, just that I can see why people find more value in gaming on the Switch despite the power difference. It's obvious that Nintendo helps market indie titles because they support their platform a lot. Would Nintendo do that anymore without the power gap, just like Sony stopped doing? They're certainly not doing it out of a sense of charity.
It's also nice because some of the more modern games that never come to the Switch are also some of the biggest failures and I'm glad I never got a chance to play Mass Effect Andromeda, the new Saint's Row or Fallout 76 before they blew up into buyer beware butt cakes. The Switch's lack of power has ironically also been a shield from modern bullshit to a certain extent. And while of course it would be nice to play the Resident Evil remakes in a non-cloud version or the new Star Ocean, the nice thing about that is if they eventually come to the Switch's successor they probably will include all the stuff you had to pay or wait for before as additional downloadables in the base game, much like The Ezio Collection (the first time I played Assassin's Creed) included everything you'd want in the Switch version. So platforms like the Switch are great for patient gamers too. (Though no amount of porting will ever convince me to play Skyrim.)
The last aspect are mobile ports. I know this isn't very popular overseas, but since my second most played platform are smartphone games and I and other Japanese players play a lot of them, this is really helpful. Porting mobile games to the Switch often completely removes a lot of worse parts of the monetization and leaves behind a better game. I tend to play mobile game while I listen to podcasts, audio books or YouTube videos and Gems of War, Guardian Tales and Dragon Quest Rivals ACE are probably my three most played Switch games. I can't even spend money on Gems of War if I wanted to because my region isn't supported, so score! Kairosoft's cute little pixel art simulation games are completely removed of all of their mobile monetization leaving only an addictive simulation game behind. Five-BN is a tiny Ukrainian studio who makes adventure games that look like they were made for PCs in the late 90s, but that's right up my groove and you get a lot of bang for your buck with each title. It scratches the exact itch I've wanted scratched by other modern adventure games that are more concerned with aping old LucasArts than old Sierra, the latter of which I personally liked much better. I can't accurately convey how impressed I was that they made better and more fun puzzles and more enchanting worlds than many of their competitors on their tiny mobile game budget. Imagine how surprised that their translations into Japanese are also better than larger publishers. That's just sad. (It's also quite refreshing to play games that seem to be designed for middle-aged women. That's not a market you see catered to very often and makes for a nice change of pace.)
Unreal Life is one of the greatest experiences I've ever had in my years of gaming and it was a mobile port. Also Various Daylife is an awesome, awesome game and it's unfortunate that it gets dismissed for being a departure from traditional RPG gameplay that people are looking for, because like a SaGa game, it's full of great ideas to come together to make a unique game. There's no way the platform would have gotten this many mobile ports if it weren't a Japanese handheld hybrid with an easy to use touchscreen and so the very fact Nintendo sacrificed power to make it portable brought games to me I would not have noticed or played that much otherwise.
I know that people dislike the performance issues they see on the Switch, but it often doesn't bother me, as I don't really pay attention to frame rate issues unless they're so dire that it's obviously hurting the game's playability. I never even noticed any drops in Tears of the Kingdom and to me plenty of Switch games are beautiful and I don't really care if they had higher resolution or better textures. It's just not a priority for me or something I look for in games. I'm aware enough to know that I'm an outlier in that respect on Reddit, but I don't think I am in the wider gaming community offline. Bright Memory, Sifu and King's Bounty 2 played just fine in the Switch versions for me.
And of course it goes without saying that I dearly hope the Switch is not the last hurrah for this type of platform, because I can't remember another platform that had this good of a balance of success for all types of publishers and developers. And I know it can't last forever. It's sad the way Octopath Traveler II didn't get the attention the first one did, despite being improved every way, but even on the Switch not everything can be successful. I wonder when the point comes where the saturation is so high on the platform that it can't go on any longer. I don't imagine that even with this type of momentum that the Switch is just going to keel over in a couple of months once the successor is released, so long live the Switch!

2023.06.06 02:19 quidamphx My weekend project of backing up my Switch library.
| I know this doesn't count as piracy, but I feel like all the work was worth sharing 😋. I spent the weekend dumping and backing up all 70+ of my Switch carts, updates and DLC for each as well as the ridiculous number of eShop games I've purchased over the last 5-6 years. A few CE games aren't pictured here and are on another shelf. Used nxdumptool along with my own keys for 16.0.3. Installed all games onto a spare exFAT SD card from sysNAND, updated them all, then created a NAND backup and booted Atmosphere on sysNAND to do the dumping offline. Restored the NAND backup afterwards and no one is the wiser. I used exFAT so I didn't have to split any files for sake of saving time and not having to re-merge them all, but my emuNAND is on a separate FAT32 card. 1 backup onto an NTFS formatted drive for storage, and a clone of that onto an exFAT formatted drive using sync folder on my PC. Benefits of this? NTFS is more robust for not losing files and the exFAT drive can be directly plugged into the Switch either via USB C or through the dock, and running DBI I can install directly from the drive. I don't want to lose these files and ever have to do this again. I love the Switch but the benefits gained from running them in Atmosphere can't be understated. Obviously online gaming is isolated to my sysNAND but single player games are much better with the ability to tweak performance through sys-clk, patches and mods. All this for the same of doing what I want with legally purchased games. They sure don't make it easy. submitted by quidamphx to SwitchPirates [link] [comments] |

2023.06.06 00:53 PokingDogSnouts 32 [M4F] New Jersey/New York — Where have all the flowers gone?
I'd like to find somebody thoughtful, someone who isn't superficial. Somebody who appreciates the rich vastness of our shared multicultural past, and freely follows her curiosity in exploring it. Somebody who is trying her best to adhere to the guidance of her inner moral compass, and isn't so easily fooled by the distractions and illusions of the world.
One such illusion, that must immediately be mentioned (this is important, because it's led to a break for me, in the past): religion. Religion is man-made, and not of any higher authority. The Bible and the Quran all permit slavery—in addition to countless other horrid and divisive ideas—while claiming to be eternal wisdom, and that is indefensible. I still like to believe in the idea of some permeating higher morality, that imbues us with our general sense for justice, fairness, and empathy...but, I know that without outright proof, even my holding of such a notion can be deemed a flight of fancy, a residual remnant of a system so entrenched. However, it seems to me that life is often more than just what's on the surface. Um, but now, then—back to the person I wish to know...
I'd also love it if she were artistic. Singing, sketching, painting, writing, composing, creating. Someone who is trying to nurture their talents and passions. I know it can be difficult...
As for me, well... I adore music. Mostly voices from the past (the 1960s would have to be my favorite), because I find them to be humbler and more from the heart, at least in popular music. I’ll just give an example of something I’ve looked into, and this is nowhere near representative of my wider taste, but if you go back to early 1920s country music... (Here's an aside: a lot of what people think of as "country" today is a long cry from what the genre is actually like, historically. If you are into folk music—Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan—it is indelibly linked to "country", and if you'd like a popular example of a song that originated within the genre, look no further than the universally recognized "You Are My Sunshine", from 1939!)
Anyway. If you go back to that early period, where undiscovered niches of music were still sought out and first put to tape... a lot of those artists had no idea about anything to do with recording—no ego, no attempt to sound "cool". What came through instead was a bare expression of the life that had been lived—the inner beauty of their own personhood, and I love hearing that. It's so honest. A vulnerable and piercing expression.
So if you're into history or the beautiful music of decades (and centuries) past, if you have any aspirations for creating as a method of changing the world for the better, if you'd like to play games and watch movies together, if you'd like an accountability partner—or all of the above...please message me. I don't mind the chat function, either—in fact, it's probably easier. Also, to get this out of the way:
this is what I look like.
I love beautiful things. Nature, music that tugs at your heartstrings or is so honest you're enraptured, experiences that heal. More specifically, here are some of my current interests:
- music (singing/playing an instrument/the Beach Boys are my favorite group—I also love Maybelle Carter, Cass Elliot, Pink Floyd, Lana Del Rey, The Cranberries, Sixpence None The Richer, loads of video game music, The Smiths, The Beatles, The Who, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Harry Nilsson, Joni Mitchell, The Righteous Brothers, Judy Garland, Sam Cooke, Frank Churchill, Marty O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori... Here’s a brief go at the Beatles’ “Julia”.) And, if you liked that—a more recent one…
- drawing—here are a few I've done.
- video games (any era from Atari—I like exploring the history and evolution—to the Switch and PS4) [Currently playing, or starting: The Binding of Isaac, Catherine]
- Disney, especially the Golden Age and Renaissance—Pinocchio (my favorite movie ever), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Aladdin, The Lion King, Tarzan. I love how handmade the early films look. And yet, how no expense was spared in creating these most precious and moving works of art.
- films/series/books I've enjoyed lately: The Sound of Magic, The Little Prince, Matilda, Love Hard, The Fundamentals of Caring, This Beautiful Fantastic, Donnie Darko, Alamut by Vladimir Bartol (this book was a key inspiration for the first Assassin's Creed), The Trial of the Chicago 7, Medici: The Magnificent, Pollyanna by Eleanor Porter, Judy
To close... I suppose I should say I've been afflicted with long-COVID for over two years. It'd be very nice to keep each other company, especially if we share any of the interests up above—we could watch favorite films, have shared listening sessions on Spotify, and it'd be a godsend to find somebody up to play on PS4 and Switch!
Donkey Kong Country 2 and
3 on the secret hard modes, maybe? Or sculpting our own world from scratch in
Minecraft? Or maybe we could act out
Ocarina of Time's storyline using all the options available on
Smash Ultimate!
I'd really like to know an intelligent person with a unique identity...who puts forth effort—though at the same time, no pressure on reaching out. If you are this type of person, but can currently only muster up a few words because, hey! Life is tough, and grueling, and we don't always have a ready-made letter in us to flip out of our pockets—don't be scared away by my tower of words. I absolutely know, firsthand, what it's like to
want to communicate, yet not currently have the energy or the mindpower for it. Life can really sink you... I promise I will not judge. Please send me a chat message, if you're at all interested in chatting.

2023.06.06 00:25 No-Article-2440 Dragon age IQ: When to install patches?[no spoilers]
Long story short I want to platinum the game and read that this game possess some insanely helpful glitches pre-patch. My strategy was to not download any patches until I reach Skyhold so that I can raise my influence to level 20 with the vendor glitch and then I would download the patch to make use of Skyhold's storage duplication glitch. Now what I didn't know was the you can't dup CRAFTING MATERIALS! Being casually able to dup crafting material with any vendor has been a life saver in nightmare difficulty so the fact that I can't do it anymore really stings, the only reason I downloaded the patch was so that I could dup power amulets but I don't think it's really worth it If I can't dup materials.
Anyways what do you guys recommended I do to make my playthrough as optimal as possible? I made a usb save just before downloading the patch just in case so I should be able to go back, so what do you guys recommened I do? Any specific materials(I'm a total noob so idk whats needed for end-game stuff) I should go look for and dup to oblivion before downloading the patches so that I can dup amulets of power? Any strategies are welcome!

2023.06.06 00:13 Screenwriter6788 White Room of Philemon the Wise
White Room of Philemon the Wise (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey)
Kassandra walks into an agora where the members of the Silver Vein are counting their wealth and slaves are tending to their every whim. Philemon sits on a throne in front of a mountain of drachmae and treasure.
Philemon: Come to see the grandeur of what I have accomplished.
Kassandra: Every drachmae here is stolen from others work. You earned nothing.
Philemon: Didn’t I? I have earned something that every other sect of the cult struggles too accomplish. Full obedience.
Kassandra: Just another word for slave.
Philemon: It is what the Greek world is built upon. But beyond that I use this wealth to keep in line those who would serve. The only true way to herald Kosmos into this land is to ensure the masses are compliant.
Philemon grabs a handful of drachmae.
Philemon: And their debts and my payment are the surest guarantees of that.
Kassandra: It’s foundation is weak. Just like the cult, and you.
Kassandra throws the spear at the base of the pile. The drachmae then pours over and buries Philemon. Kassandra prepares to throw drachmae, but changes her mind.
Kassandra: You have enough.
Kassandra walks away as the slaves over power and kill the rest of the Silver Vein.

2023.06.05 23:56 Breadedbabyskin The Future of Watch Dogs
It's no secret Watch dogs history isn't spectacular. People felt let down with watch dogs 1 (although it was was cemented my love for the series but I hadn't even been on the hype train when it came out so I didn't have the same expectations).
Watch dogs legion while innovative suffered from a number of major issues relating to story, voice acting, gameplay, pretty much every aspect of the game can be fairly criticized.
And now ubisoft seems very worse for wear. Assassins creed seemingly being the one thing holding them up along with r6 siege. Even still those franchises have been a mixed bag for most. Not to mention not matter how much ubisoft pushes back skull and bones it is not going to do well.
This leads me to wonder if there is any future for watch dogs. Imo legions story took the franchise in a bad direction and with the massive time jump it's just...idk. personally I think watch dogs legion need to be taken out of canon. It doesn't feel connected to the series like it should. Part of that is from the time jump from WD2 to WDL, another is lack of actual characters from the franchise and otherwise.
Ubisoft also needs to definitively state if watch dogs is set in the assassins creed universe. There are pros and cons to this but dancing around it isn't helping the games lore or continuity.
Sorry this post was long, it's just if there is going to be any future for this series I think discussion has to exist. Interest has to be there. Im happy to hear anyone else's thoughts on the matter.

2023.06.05 23:55 safelyvulnerable 31/PC/EST Coop and Single-Player Games/Looking for 'Little Brother'
This is kind of a different post but here goes. I put the TLDRs in bold.
I lost my little brother last year and we were very close. He was 12. I really miss him and am looking for a dynamic like what we had. We mostly played single player games together on the couch, taking turns and watching each other's playthroughs; horror games in particular. We loved Visage, though it was difficult to finish without guides. There's one called MADiSON I haven't played yet that would be perfect. We can hang out on Discord, and call to stream our playthroughs.
I basically love horror games or games with good stories. I'm currently on my second playthrough of Hogwarts Legacy, which has been thoroughly phenomenal. I finished Last of Us despite its broken release state; could do it again now that it's patched up. I love the Spider-Man games, just started Cyberpunk 2077, and I'm interested in trying out the new Sherlock game. I'm also interested in Plague Tale Requiem, God of War, RE4, Returnal, Jedi Survivor and Hat in Time which I never started. Other games I like include Amanda The Adventurer, Vampyr, The Complex, Observation, Fran Bow, Dark Pictures Anthology and decision based games like Detroit and Life is Strange, Death Stranding, Splinter Cell Breakpoint/Wildlands, Tomb Raider series, Saints Row (haven't played the new one), Mass Effect (all), Dragon Age (all), Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Dead Space, Alice: Madness Returns, F.E.A.R. 1/2 and KotOR 1/2. Puzzle games like INSIDE are nice also; we never finished it.
I don't really have any age or gender requirements, I generally connect well with most people, but I'm somewhat hoping to connect with someone younger because of the situation and the fact that I'm autistic and relate better to them. While I spoke a lot about singleplayer games, I'm totally down to play any coop or multiplayer games that appeal to both of us. I've played Borderlands (tho 3 was p cringe and I didn't finish it), The Division, Remnant and probably others I'm forgetting. Maybe we can race on Forza Horizon. So yes beside the games I'm also looking for a long-term friend, and would be just as interested chatting about each others' lives; obviously my brother would discuss school and his thoughts and feelings, and that was never boring for me. Because of my neurodivergence, I don't judge people at all. Obviously I like a good meme, trap-style beats, and I also recently picked up mixing progressive/melodic house.
I work so I may not be available 100% of the time, but I'm sure we can work with each other's schedules as long as the time difference isn't massive. I'm AST/EST/UTC-4:00.
If you're interested or have any questions, please feel free to hmu. Thanks for reading.

2023.06.05 22:59 Fishy1998 End game suggestions
Imo dying light 2 needs more interesting stuff to do in the end game. Right now the gear system is kind of lame to grind out and people only care about stamina cost/regen and 1h/2H damage. It would be neat if we could modify these values or even reroll stuff on existing armor and weapons. I also think there should be some kind of repeatable quest for a combat/parkour “level” akin to the prison heist from dl1, only I really wanna see a lot of these so there’s variety. Some high stakes multiplayer content would be cool for better rewards.
The bounties are cool and all and the legend levels really do help with progression but if techland wants an actual proper end game they need to let players actually min max while doing something fun and repeatable. Dl2 isn’t as fun to just play-through and without a be the zombie mode or prison heist it’s kind of hard to really replay dl2 for an extended period of time. Basically a simplified list of stuff I think they should add:
•Prison heist esc missions with high stakes and difficulty •Reroll/enhancements for weapons and gear •Nightmare Difficulty •Pvp mode (preferably be the zombie)
