Sayaka šŸ‘—

VS

Masa Takanashi šŸ¶

Violence & Booze

ā€œI'm gonna kill you! Yayyyyy!ā€ While she has become infamous for her unsettling quotes, ā€œSmiling Violenceā€ Sayaka is known more for her ungodly brutal striking power. Those explosion like forearms stagger even the toughest opponents in Ichigaya! Add in Sayaka’s pin point dropkicking ability and her growing talent in pins and submissions, and Masa might find that the rising Twitch star is just too much to handle. Sayaka’s unnerving cheerfulness while she does vicious things provides her with a big presence in the square. That unattached joy will eventually be the stuff of legends! (After all, she’s ā€œhappy to beat someoneā€!) Don't forget, Sayaka hangs out around Minoru Suzuki and survives to tell the tale! Will we see a Hammer of the Gods? This photogenic phenom is on the rise, keep an eye on her!
Drunken Monkey Masa Takanashi is ready for anything! The belt collecting president of Gatoh Move is known for racking up wins as much as he does bar tabs, representing many companies with a swagger and slick technique that will have you questioning just how tipsy he is! The Counter Fighter of ChocoPro baits his opponents into reversals and trickery that will have them staring at the lights or tapping out in quick fashion. He’s got a lot of tricks up his sleeve, but will he be able to handle overwhelming power? Takanashi had better keep up that fancy footwork or he’ll find himself hammered into oblivion! OrePan might have been fended off once by CDK, but Sayaka is still aiming for that big win.

Choun Shiryu šŸ‰ & Shin Suzuki šŸ™

VS

UMA+ (Sayaka Obihiro šŸ’™ & KOJIO šŸ’€)

Utility, Monsters, Action!

Monsters? ā€œSo what!?ā€ Choun Shiryu is here! The Dragon of ChocoPro is a Wuxia hero (having done some of the most spectacular acts in Ichigaya) with his own fantastic flair! He is one of the most legitimate forces in the promotion. This Kung Fu master boasts a truly unique fighting style, pulling off action movie stunts you’ll not find elsewhere. While his usual partner is taking some time away from wrestling, (though Ninja Sayuri is still behind the scenes, as is tradition!) this time his partner is fellow utility player Shin Suzuki! Shin is always ready to go! His warm personality and intense athleticism fit well with the general vibe of Ichigaya...and honestly, his knack for dealing with kids (as a proud father) comes in handy in this den of goblins and monsters! Shin & Choun both mesh well with just about any pairing, so expect these two to sync together with machine precision once again. Can speed and teamwork overcome this Arkham Horror?
Fresh off an appearance at GanJo, Sayaka Obihiro is cool as hell! With a deep sense of humor and lightning quick striking & pinning techniques, Obi rules...but she is a bit...different...when she teams with Monsters. The charismatic full time chef has got a great set of flame gear and an intense uncontrollable style. Even if she’s gone feral, you'll find yourself enchanted by her brash nature and wild antics! Strange and occult happenings are somewhat common in Ichigaya, and the mysterious organization known as UMA features many monsters that just so happen to wrestle. Horrors from across the world are attracted to ChocoPro due to their influence...Speaking of which, a cold wind brings a shadow over Ichigaya once again! Hailing from Parts Unknown and trained at the Nightmare Factory (which makes even more sense given that sinister look!), kojio’s frightening presence made him fit right in with the other Monsters of UMA. With brawling brutality, vicious submissions, and an absolutely wicked set of gear that makes him look like a character straight from a comic book, kojio scares his opponents and impresses the audience with his relentless nature and bone chilling aura. That laugh is something else! This unstoppable monster has been a wonderful addition to Ichigaya, but how long will he accept Obi taking pinfalls? I wouldn’t want to upset him!

Ryuichi Sekine šŸ— & Mochi Natsumi šŸ”

VS

EGG TART (Chie Koishikawa šŸµļø & Hagane Shinno āš”ļø)

Egg ResTart

A returning team up 12 years apart!? Pairing up Mochi Natsumi and Ryuichi Sekine is like putting two different kinds of explosives together. While the Rebellious Hardcore & Deathmatch Unit known as PROMINENCE has a lot of exciting members busy all over the place, Mochi has been killing it in Ichigaya. She is a dark clad fiery personality with an undeniable raw charisma. Her shocking moments of brutality are some of my favorites in the whole series. A well balanced strength and agility fighter with a good sense of humor will always thrive in Ichigaya, but Mochi has fit in as if she was always there...the same can also be said for Sekine! While he took time off to focus on his farming (and to get married to TJPW’s recently retired Nodoka Tenma), he is just as dangerous as he always was! He just also sells Rice Cakes now. Sekine is a loud, wild, completely chaotic element when it comes to Ichigaya. He’s known for obliterating stools and the environment alike! This violent farmer would stop at nothing to entertain the audience, unleashing a volatile way of fighting that usually ends with the opponent locked into the Combine. Much like his emoji (the wild boar), expect Sekine to rampage maniacally through ChocoPro once again. Good thing Mochi is always up for a good rampage! With these two together, be careful not to be overwhelmed by their wild energy and charm!
It has been a long time, but they’re back together! Chie Koishikawa & Hagane Shinno, the combination known as EGG TART, are a hot and cold team. Opposites definitely attract, and the polar attraction results in some of the craziest team attacks you will ever witness! ā€œToo Much Energyā€ Chie brings an uncontrollable excitement wherever she goes (including recently GanJo), sprinting around the Square and delivering lightning quick striking...often from the air! Her tightly locked Stretch Mufflers and eye catching arm drags will have you shouting as much as she does. The Frantic Fencer is one of the most popular characters in all of ChocoPro! Her Wintery partner on the other hand is a remorseless killing machine...and the Super Asia Champion! Hagane’s icy ferocity usually brings about ugly thuds via heavy striking and brutal slams. The ā€œCold Killerā€ earned his epithet by easily dispatching some of the best the promotion has to offer! This ageless assassin only shows emotion around his chaotic partner...and together they amplify one another’s personality! These two have limitless potential, and now that Hagane has the Big Blue Belt they will also have limitless enemies looking for an opportunity!
Enjoy all the wrestling this weekend!
Come and see the wild creativity that produced Two of the Seven AEW Women's World Champions! (Both of which have appeared on ChocoPro!) You'll be wondering if you're seeing future champs, as well. ChocoPro is the Frontier of Pro Wrestling! Match after match of hard hitting, chaotic, fun bouts with a friendly online audience. We're quickly growing, and you're welcome to come along!
Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:

ā€œWhat is this?ā€

ChocoPro is a free online promotion run by AEW's Emi Sakura, that takes place in the legendary Ichigaya Chocolate Square! It features a steady pace of live Episode releases, fan interaction, season long story arcs, and much more! A place where the turnbuckles are replaced with 14th floor windows, the ropes are often replaced with fans, unforgiving walls provide creative avenues for skills otherwise unthinkable, and you can take solace in knowing that the referees usually do nothing. While it might be a shocking change at first, the intensity and storytelling will leave you wanting more.

ā€œWhy are they fighting in ____?ā€

Short answer is that it is a cost effective, unique venue with a better availability schedule and allows the roster access for training. Emi Sakura has been using this place for a long time, and you might be surprised at some of the names that have used it (even outside of ChocoPro!). There are a few in-ring Episodes and Gatoh Move has in ring shows with crowds on the YouTube channel. Think of it like the Hart Dungeon but as a promotion, if that helps!

ā€What are the rules?ā€

While special match stipulations will usually be explained before the respective matches, the general rules of ChocoPro are simple. Pins only count on the Chocolate Mat and are not broken by the edge or Wall. Submissions usually only count on the Chocolate Mat, and ARE broken by reaching the edge or wall (sometimes ceiling...). Double pins and Double submissions are legal (and encouraged) in ChocoPro Tag matches, meaning cohesive teams will always have the advantage! Count Outs only exist if specified, since many matches stray from the comfort of the Chocolate Square into the streets (and the rest of the building itself!) There is a Time Limit for each bout (based on card placement and importance) and the Referee has discretion (even if they tend to do nothing most of the time!). Every Ref is different, some have different levels of bias and speed.

ā€œHow can I support them?ā€

Watch the show! Even if you can't see it live, the views matter! Like & Subscribe! You can join the Channel's membership for different tiers of perks...but also, you can buy single episode Sponsorship, Digital autographed photos, and more on their shop site as well as purchase shirts from PWTees (which features some great options!) If you'd like to donate or purchase a main wall sponsorship, you can via Paypal or Patreon...and don't forget to cheer for your favorites! (especially if you want to do a superchat!)

ā€How come there aren’t a lot of comments on the threads?ā€

ChocoPro is a YouTube show, meaning the discourse happens live...in the chat! Those that comment in the threads on here tend to do so in order to help new viewers that might be intimidated by the fast moving chat. Don’t be afraid to just dive in though, the community is friendly.

ā€œWhy are you posting this here? / Are you paid for this?ā€

This is a wrestling forum, and I'm trying to broaden the horizons of others! There is a lot of good wrestling out there...Plus growing the fan base means more people for me to joke around with! I honestly do believe this is what a lot of fans are looking for, even if it is too different for some! But different tastes are good. Variety is the spice of life. This is a labor of love (it really doesn't take that long) considering how much work they do to put on so many shows...for free!
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me on here or on Twitter, where I’m April Foolin’! ChocoPro is full of Mania!

2023.04.01 21:00 Joe_Columbus Missing DOT After Unstaking in Talisman Wallet

Hello! I'm hoping someone can assist me with a problem that I haven't been able to find answers to in the Reddit threads.
I installed Talisman a couple of months ago and started to stake some of my DOT in a Talisman Pool. I transferred the DOT to my Talisman wallet and began staking back in February. Shortly afterwards, I found out that I could simply connect the Talisman app to my Ledger to stake w/o needing to transfer it to Talisman first. That was great to know, so I staked more DOT in the same talisman pool that I had been keeping stored on my Ledger.
I decided at that point to unstake the DOT I initially transferred to my Talisman wallet so that I could transfer it back to my Ledger and restake after it was finished unbonding. I waited through the 28 day cool off period, which ended March 30, but my DOT hasn't shown up, and my balance still does not reflect any of the DOT I had unstaked from the pool. I've been checking back every few hours for the last couple of days to see if it shows up and have closed/re-opened Talisman and Chrome multiple times too. I checked the History in Talisman and see the "Pool Unstake" record from 11:03 AM on "Thur 2 March 2023." The 28 day period ended on March 30, two days ago.
At this point, I have no idea where they went and how to get them back. Is there an additional period of time that needs to pass before they become available again?

2023.04.01 20:33 Willingtax478722 Portable Audio player (DAP)

Portable Audio Player with streaming services
Hello people!
I’ve been thinking about getting a portable audio player, not only because of the sound quality but also I’m trying to use my phone less.
I’ve been checking the Hiby R2 Gen II, M0 Pro Shanking and also the Mighty Vibe. The perfect product would be a mix of these three, but so far I don’t think we have something close to it.
Trying to summarize my needs, the perfect one would be a small device with streaming services (I use Spotify a lot, so this would be perfect) and hi-res possibilities for listening my favorite songs when need it. Don’t care too much to balance out and other fancy details.
Basically, if Hiby R2 II had Spotify streaming, I’d go all the way.
Do you guys know any other options besides these?

2023.04.01 20:10 Marvynwillames [Multiple Excerpts] "X was a tractor during the DAoT"

So, one of the most popular fan ideas spread in the 40K community is that certain designs used by the Imperium were originally either light/scout vehicles or even agricultural vehicles during the Dark Age of Technology. It been existed for decades now, likely even in the oldest internet communities, so it is impossible for the idea to die. However, does it have a basis? With tons of free time and thanks to Lexicanum’s list on White Dwarf, I tried to check some.
The origin of this idea is, besides the fan idea of ā€œThe DAOT was so absurdly overpower even a civilian car should be overpowerā€, seem to be this passage of the original Rogue Trader.
The weapons, vehicles and much of the equipment described in this book have their roots in the STC system. Fighting vehicles often look like Tractors and Prime Movers because that's exactly what they were copied from! STC designs can be produced in almost any material; wood, plastic, concrete, steel, plastic, etc, and can be replicated on almost any world that has raw materials of some kind."
Rogue Trader Core Rulebook (1987)
This is interesting, and was even used to justify the idea of the Leman Russ being an agri vehicle. However, the Leman Russ wasn’t a thing in Rogue Trader, the Land Raider was.
The Leman Russ, as well the Baneblade seem to have been introduced in Epic related White Dwarf articles, in special, by the time of Armies of the Imperium (1991), through even with the details given by Lexicanum, I was unable to find the exact releases, I suspect White Dwarf 143 got them, but it’s one of the releases I just couldn’t find online, same as for Armies, which is one of the few Epic main releases that just seem to not exist in the internet.
Thus, I can’t really say much about both vehicles, but, The Horus Heresy black books by Forge World put the idea to a rest by explicitly saying the Leman Russ is a tank STC, through some people may argue that since the Black Books are in universe works, they may be wrong.
This last conflict in particular was a celebrated victory, for which the ancient battle tank STC restored to the Imperium in that same campaign was named in Leman Russ' honour by the Mechanicum.
Horus Heresy Book 7 Inferno (2017)
In a similar case, I failed to find any actual mention of the Baneblade STC as specially stating them to be any type of vehicle during the Dark Age, I’ve seen people claiming Epic say they were light tank STC, but I found zero data on it, in general, they just don’t mention that detail.
Now, Imperial Armour gives some data about other vehicles, in special, a detailed origin of the Rhino, which is the base of other vehicles such as the Predator, which is, in the first edition, straight up said to be the main fighting vehicle of mankind, with Volume 2 changing the text to be more ambiguous.
Unusually, the surviving documents on the origins of the Rhino are almost complete and give an accurate early history of the vehicle.
Ancient records show that the Rhino started life as the RH1-N-O Tracked Exploration and Multi-Purpose Defence Vehicle Standard Template Construction (STC) for use by colonists and explorers as Mankind spread throughout the galaxy colonising worlds. They needed a robust. tracked alt-terrain vehicle, sealed against hostile environments and providing some measure of protection and defense. The first Rhino was field tested on Mars and proved a great success. Capable of being constructed from any local available material and powered by any fuel source, the popularity of the Rhino spread. Soon Rhinos became common sights on the frontier worlds of the rapidly expanding circle of human worlds.
As well as a vehicle for exploration the Rhino's military potential was soon recognized. The armed forces began to adopt the design. filling it with weapons and extra armour for combat. The Rhino. and its many variants. Eventually became the standard armoured vehicle of human armies. As these armies spread through the galaxy, they took the Rhino with them.
(…)
The earliest known use of the Rhino in combat is recorded in the ancient Liber Armorum. According to this august document it was by human colonists on Torben's World against unidentified indigenous xenos creatures of a primitive technology level. The Rhinos formed the spearhead of the human colonists' attacks, against which the primitive alien firearms were useless. The Rhinos smashed the alien settlements and Torben's World was completely purged of the xenos, leaving the colonization to progress unimpeded.
(…)
The Predator is a variant of the basic Rhino chassis, equipped with superior armour protection and firepower, in favour of the troop transportation capacity. (..) Back in the Dark Age of Technology all Predators were of the 'Destructor' variant.
(...)
The predator first saw service during the Dark Age of Technology, when it was the standard battle tank of all mankind's fighting forces. It was first built as a response to a newly encountered threat from a violent and warlike alien race - the Orks, barbarous savages who lived only for war and battle.
Mankind's forces were having great difficulty in combating the Ork's reckless headlong charges. Seeking new tactics and new weapons to defeat the Orks, the Predator came into being. With extra armour and heavy weapons a Predator could resist attacks from most Ork weapons, and the savages' primitive armour was no match for the autocannon and heavy bolters.
It is a design that withstood the test of time well. The first Predators were constructed with a small troop-carrying capacity, but during the campaigns of the Great Crusade this capacity was gradualy lost in favour of more ammunition stowage space, especially if the Predator was mounted with sponsons which became standard during the Great Crusade.
(…)
Legend has, it that the Land Raider (called in some fragmentary records ā€œLand's Raiderā€) was discovered during Machine-Archaeologist Arkhan Land's great expedition into the Libraries Omnis on Mars. The main aim of Land's expedition into the labyrinth catacombs sited deep beneath the surface of the Red Planet was to find functioning STC databases, in this he failed, but two discoveries were made which revolutionized machine lore for millennia to come. The first was a near complete dataslab imprint of STC information describing a heavily armoured assault tank The second was the unearthing of data on rare anti-gravitic plates and theories on their use. which eventually led to the construction of the first ā€œLand's Speederā€.
Imperial Armour Volume 2 (2004)
The provenance of the Predator battle tank is thought to be in the forgotten depths of the Dark Age of Technology, when some hold that it was the standard battle tank of Mankind’s fighting forces.
(…)
The Predator Destructor is believed to be the most numerous Predator variant and many marks exist in the armouries of every Adeptus Astartes Chapter. Some even claim it is the original pattern of the Predator tank and it has certainly served in the armies of the lmperium since at least the Great Crusade
The Destructor is likely to have first been introduced as a response to a newly encountered threat from a Violent and Warlike alien species such as the Orks, a barbarous xeno-form that exists only for war, if this theory is true, the tank's thick armour and its balance between strength and rate of fire would make it ideal when confronted with hordes of this tough, numerous enemy. With Orks a ubiquitous foe the length and breadth of the galaxy, there is scant likelihood that there will ever be cause to retire it from service
Imperial Armour Volume 2 Second Edition (2013)
There’s, however, one vehicle that is canonically based in an agri vehicle STC, the Bruenhilde and Siegfried, both created in Krieg and based in the Land Crawler.
The Bruennhilde is one of several dozen variants of the common Land Crawler. The Land Crawler is another of the STC constructs re-discovered by Arkhan Land at the birth of the Imperium. Unlike the more famous Land Raider and Land Speeder, the Land Crawler is not a military vehicle but an agricultural one. Countless billions of Land Crawlers are used on agriworlds across the Imperium, where its' versatility, ease of maintenance, and forgiving driving characteristics make it hugely popular. It has been argued by more than one Imperial historian that the humble Land Crawler is by far the single most important STC Construct discovered by Arkhan Land; after all, even Space Marines need to eat. The Land Crawler has been pressed into military service countless times, either as an engineering vehicle, or, as in the case of the Bruennhilde, as a gun transporter. Unlike the GƶtterdƤmmerung and Blitzen, the Bruennhilde predates the Krieg civil war, and has been used as a lightly armoured transporter by PDF units of Krieg for several millennia. Although it is armed with a single heavy stubber, the Bruennhilde is not really designed for front-line duty, though at times it is pressed into service.
The Siegfried is another variant of the famous Land Crawler.
Epic Swordwind (2005)
Another popular idea is that the Imperial Knights started as agri machines, their chainsaws to cut trees and cannons to blast rocks. This is interesting because it is something close to the original idea, but not quite.
The original background, given in The Story of the Knights in White Dwarf was of the human Knights being created based in the Eldar Knights used by the Exodite eldar, Knights were supposed to protect dinosaur like creatures from other dinosaurs, so they are ā€œagri vehiclesā€ the same way a shotgun used to protect livestock is an agri device.
In order to produce the food necessary to trade with the craftworlds, the oceans of the planets were seeded with algae to form vast floating weed beds. These weed bed and the lush vegetation of the primitive jungles provide nourishment for docile Brontosaurus—like herd beasts called Megasaurs created by the Knights through cloning and genetic engineering. The Megasaurs in turn provide protein-rich food for the craftworlds. The herds were shepherded by the Knights in their machine-bodies protecting the Megasaurs from predators and moving them from place to place to feed. On occasion, the Knights different clans would clash over watering rights or border disputes, though combat took an almost ritualized form intended more to hone the Knights' skills than bring about bloodshed.
(...)
During the Dark Age of Technology, scouts from Earth travelled far through the galaxy seeking planets to be used as agricultural worlds to provide food for the huge hiveworlds of Humanity. They copied the farming techniques used by the Eldar Knights already living on some of the worlds discovered, in a period referred to by the Exodites as The Coming of Men, the Eldar and Human colonists clashed in a series of bloody wars as the Eldar Knights sought to protect their homes from the interlopers. When these planets were cutoff in the Age of Strife, they became feral worlds. A warrior aristocracy grew up on the Human worlds, mimicking the lifestyle of the Eldar clans. On many worlds, the Eldar clans resurged to win back the lands they had lost and settled into a pattern of battling and raiding both against the Humans and each other. The wealth of the noble Human houses and Eldar clans was based on their herds and much herd-raiding went on. The herds were greatly reduced in size, but, as the only readily available food source, were just as important.
While the Eldar shared their duties equally throughout the clan, the Human nobility enforced a feudal system on those below them. A sub-class of Drovers looked after the herds, as the nobles would not soil their hands with such work. The Drovers' walkers were not, by law, armed with weapons even though they lived in constant danger from raiders and predators. This ensured that the Drovers had to rely on the Knights of the nobility for protection and nullified any chance of revolt.
(…)
In addition to the threat posed by hostile houses, the Chivalry had to fight constant battles against swift Carnosaurs which preyed upon the herds. Hunting the Carnosaurs honed their fighting skills to a deadly art, preparing them for the periods of violent warp activity which created monstrous mutated beasts. When such a beast was sighted, all the Chivalry would go on quests to seek out and destroy the creature before it minted the land.
White Dwarf 126 (1990)
When the Imperial Knights were revamped, their origin was changed, no mention of the Exodites is made, instead, they were created as STC designs for colonization, with the text explicitly separating them from the actual agri vehicles and going to say they quickly became a war machine for the dark age.
They created atmospheric shelters, tools for farming and construction, means of power, transportation and the like. They also created the towering bipedal constructs known as Knight suits. These armour-plated walkers could traverse even the most perilous landscapes, endure the worst conditions that the colony worlds could throw at them, and – when suitably armed – fight in defense of the colonists themselves.
Few xenos races had an answer to these mechanical giants. Manufactured in large numbers, piloted by the most skilled and charismatic of the colonists, the Knights served as the mailed fist of human colonial expansionism. They smashed threats to Mankind’s new domains wherever they encountered them, and their pilots rapidly achieved a status somewhere between celebrity and war hero. What no one realised was that even as the Knight suits were serving the colonists, their Thrones Mechanicum were irreversibly altering the minds and souls of those who piloted them.

2023.04.01 20:09 MikeJesus I work in a nursing home. I fear the first Friday of every month.

It caught my eye the moment I got behind the desk. The pamphlet was lightly wedged between a potted plant and a filing cabinet, no doubt having slipped someone’s hand and mind as papers were being shuffled around the nursing home. The pamphlet must’ve been casually dropped recently, yet it looked ancient. Its paper was yellowing and worn and the pages were ever so gently sticking together. Even its font, regal and as far from modern as one might go, seemed to come from a different time.
FLY WITH MORANA AIR TO PLACES YOU HAVE SEEN BUT FORGOTTEN!
Most of the adverts that would make their way through the nursing home would have large lettering to complement our clientele’s eyesight. The titles of the Morana Air flier were just as big as any other, yet the actual text of the ad was so miniscule even my healthy eyes couldn’t read it.
FLOAT! — the first page commanded. Beneath the title there was a scrawl of ant-sized literature and beneath the text there was a picture of an old bearded man. He was inside of a dark empty airplane and had a look of utter shock stamped on his face. He was floating.
GO FAR AWAY! — the next page ordered, accompanied with a photograph of a massive black airplane flying over a majestic cover of clouds. The photograph was composed like any other airline advert, but there was something wrong with that plane. Its wings were far too short to accommodate its long, raised hull. The plane didn’t look like it should be capable of flight.
TOUCH LOVED ONES! — the third page read. Beneath the title sat an image I could not decipher. I do not know whether it was a photograph or a drawing or some sort of collage. The image was dark, and within that darkness there were hands and wild faces caught in the midst of some religious rapture.
There were no images on the back of the flier. The space had been completely taken up by Morana Air’s supposed motto:
NEVER WEEP ALONE — FLY MORANA AIR!
I was new in the nursing home. It was my first shift without supervision. The flier seemed odd, sure, but there were plenty of other odd things in the Wolf Pines Assisted Living Facility for me to contend with. When I found the flier I simply tucked it away into one of the filing cabinets and pushed its queer offers far from my mind.
The holiday season was busy. Families would come to visit their relatives and the residents themselves would travel out of the facility to celebrate their Christmases. The paperwork associated with the visits, along with the occasional lonely resident who tried sneaking out with the crowds kept me occupied, yet a couple days after the new year I found myself thinking about Morana Air once more.
It was a stormy January night. I had done a couple night shifts before and learned to enjoy the calmness that they provided. By the time I clocked in, visitation hours were long over and no one ever called the nursing home past sundown. I grabbed myself a book and prepared to enjoy an evening of rainy solitude.
It didn’t occur to me for a while, and it certainly didn’t occur to me then, but that night was the first Friday of the month.
A couple minutes before midnight an orderly came in with a resident. Apparently, Mr. so-and-so had a taxi picking him up to take him to the airport. When I asked the resident where he was flying to, he stared back on in silence. When I asked the orderly, he simply shrugged.
No matter how hard I tried, the old man was impenetrable to my attempts at conversation. He would occasionally grunt to show that he had heard my questions, but he wouldn’t return a single word or look me directly in the eye. When I finally gave up and returned to my book, I found myself rereading the same paragraph over and over, unable to concentrate on the text.
That’s when the thought hit me — Morana Air.
I reached into the cabinet and found the flier exactly where I had left it a couple weeks prior. I grabbed it and took it to the resident, close enough that he could read the massive lettering on the front. The moment I showed the old man the flier, his cloudy eyes grew wide with shock. With a quickness I did not think he was capable of; he snatched the flier from my hands and shoved it in his coat.
The old man’s sudden burst of shock produced even more questions from me. Among other things, I wanted to know why he had snatched the flier away from me. With the first barrage of questions the old man still wouldn’t meet my eyes, yet when it became clear I wasn’t going to leave without answers he finally looked up.
ā€œThey don’t like it when you ask questions,ā€ he said, in a voice balancing between a whisper and a wheeze. Then, he shifted his eyes to the floor from which they did not rise.
The old man’s words troubled me. After a couple more futile attempts at talking to him, I made my way back to the desk and called to make sure he was, indeed, meant to get on some midnight taxi. The orderly who had brought him picked up the phone and assured me that Mr. so-and-so’s paperwork was all in order and that his caretakers and family had signed off on the trip. If I wanted more information, the orderly said, I should get it out of the old man myself.
The phone call couldn’t have taken more than a minute or two but it was, to put it lightly, frustrating. The orderly had zero interest in the resident’s mental state and wasn’t the least bit concerned with the old man’s strange behavior. Seeing that sort of attitude from someone who is meant to take care of vulnerable people made me angry and through that anger I lost focus. Again, it couldn’t have been more than a minute or two, and I doubt I was distracted enough to not notice the squeaky sliding door open or close — but when the orderly finally hung up on me, I found the old man gone.
The storm outside had picked up to a tropical degree, but in my panic I ran out into the frigid rain. Off by the gates of the nursing home I could see taillights turning off onto the main road.
The man had caught his taxi. His destination was a complete mystery to me and the idea of dropping off a senile man at the airport filled me with disgust, but both his caretakers and his family had signed off on the trip. I tried to content myself with the idea that I was simply doing my job and returned to my book. I tried hard to focus, but I kept reading the same three pages over and over again.
The Wolf Pines Assisted Living Facility had a staff room, but it was sparsely populated. People were always working and, when they had breaks, they would either smoke in front of the gates or, if they had a car, ride back home for lunch. From the few colleagues that I did find a moment to chat with, none were interested in my questions about Morana Air or the strange midnight taxi ride. Apparently, Morana was a charity that offered free senior trips to residents. That’s all my colleagues knew and cared to know.
The food served at the Wolf Pines cafeteria is better suited for the pallet of people half a century older than me, but the tables face a beautiful garden. Whenever I was working day shifts I’d pack a lunch and eat in the cafeteria. My breaks were pretty late, so the tables were mostly empty. Every once in a while though, some of the residents would join me and chat. They were considerably nicer than the employees and I really started to look forward to my lunch breaks.
When I asked the residents about Morana Air, however, they had no answers. A lady of about 90 said that one of her friends went on a Morana Air trip a couple weeks back. When I tried to find out where the trip went or whether her friend had talked about it, her memory was far too faded. She didn’t recall if her friend ever spoke of the trip. She couldn’t recall whether her friend had returned at all.
I had so many questions about Morana Air, yet as the weeks dragged on they lost their urgency. I had worked plenty of night-shifts since that January storm, yet nothing of interest happened. No one entered the building, no one left and the phone only rang once and that was purely because someone misdialed the last digit of a pizza parlor.
It was only three months later, at the start of April that the specter of Morana Air entered my life again. Just at around midnight a familiar orderly entered the lobby. He was accompanying a frail old man with a thinning beard. Rolling next to the resident was an oxygen tank. When I told the orderly that the airport might have an issue with the oxygen tank he simply shrugged.
Mr. so-and-so had a taxi coming for him to take him to the airport. His caretakers and his family had approved of the trip. It wasn’t the orderly’s job, or my job for that matter, to poke around the details.
I tried to talk to the old man but it was of no use. No matter how sweet or curious or direct I was, the man wouldn’t answer my questions or meet my eye. When I had finally given up and sat back down at my desk I could hear the faintest whisper from him.
ā€œThey don’t like it when you ask questions,ā€ the old man said, and then took a drag from his oxygen mask.
There wasn’t a thunderstorm outside this time, so, when the taxi arrived; I could see it from my desk. Immediately, I got up and offered to help the resident to the car, but the old man shooed me off and then said something about ā€œThem not liking it when anyone helps.ā€
The man shambled his way to the taxi, pulled his oxygen tank in and then the car drove off into the darkness. The return of the strange airport fare was a reminder of the Morana Air mystery, but it made me no wiser on the subject. I sat behind that desk all night long trying to make sense of what I had seen. By the time the sun rose I was no wiser on where Morana Air was taking the residents of Wolf Pines, but I had noticed a pattern.
Twice, they had come on the first Friday of the month.
I wasn’t scheduled for the May 5th night shift, but I made some uneven trades with the smokers outside the gates. When the first Friday of the month came again I was back behind that desk. My book stayed shut the whole night.
The orderly wasn’t of much help, but I didn’t expect him to be. The woman, likewise, wasn’t helpful in illuminating the mystery of Morana Air. When I started asking questions about where the taxi was going she averted her eyes and focused on fidgeting with her ring. I had some hope for getting information out of the traveling resident, but that was not the crux of my plan.
I was going to talk to the taxi driver. I was going to find out what happened with our residents when they reached the airport.
Outside, the night was calm and still. As if the driver knew I was waiting, the taxi didn’t come for a long time. When I registered the faintest bit of light in the driveway, however, I was on my feet and ready to ask questions.
When I approached the door the old lady blocked my path. She, much like the other midnight-riders, said that they did not like folks asking questions or going with company. When I demanded the old lady explain who they were she did not provide any answers. Instead, she slipped off her ring and offered it to me as payment.
I wasn’t someone to be bribed. I was looking out for her. All I wanted to do was talk to the taxi driver to make sure the old woman would be safe.
She offered the ring to me in scared whispers, yet when I declined her bribe the old woman’s demeanor completely changed. She turned aggressive. With shouts and swipes of her nails she demanded I let her through the front door to her taxi. The woman was frail and she posed no danger to me, yet her shouts had alerted a trio of orderlies who entered the lobby to investigate.
Her family and caretakers had signed off on the trip, they said. I was in no position to stop her or interview the taxi driver, they said.
By the time I got home I received a mass e-mail from Wolf Pines management. The e-mail did not name me directly, but it concerned the practice of exchanging shifts without notifying management. Exchanging shifts, according to the e-mail, was strictly forbidden and bordered on fraud. Anyone found partaking in this swindling of the company would be punished.
By the time I woke up I had a second e-mail waiting for me in my inbox. The e-mail, once again, came from Wolf Pines management but this time I was its only recipient. I was not just chastised for ā€˜manipulating one of my coworkers into exchanging shifts’ but also for ā€˜getting into a yelling match with one of the residents’ and ā€˜disparaging a charity that worked with the nursing home.’
Apparently, Morana Air graciously offered residents of Wolf Pines free trips to exotic destinations. That was all I needed to know. Any further questions weren’t welcome.
When I made my way to the afternoon shift my spirits were low. Getting chewed out in the two e-mails didn’t feel good, but more importantly I didn’t manage to confront the taxi driver and my chances at being able to do so again seemed nil.
Not long after I settled at my desk though, a familiar cab pulled into the driveway.
The taxi driver was a big burly guy but he spoke in a near whisper. Nervously, he asked me if I knew anything about the residents that leave the nursing home every first Friday of the month. I was beyond relieved to be talking to the man, but my response seemed to have scared him. When I asked where the customers went and whether they spoke about their journey in the car, he simply shook his head.
He said he just dropped them off at the airport, as he was instructed to do by dispatch. That was all he knew. Nothing weird happened on the rides.
I tried asking more questions, but the driver had suddenly become uninterested in talking to me. By the time I even said the words Morana Air he was already out the door.
For a brief moment I thought I could find answers, but then I was plunged back into darkness. The taxi driver’s reaction made me certain that there was something off about the midnight trips. The moment he saw that I also had questions about all the strange airport rides, he backed out. He had questions too, but he knew a lot more than he was letting on.
Halfway through my shift I got another visit. My boss dropped by my desk to repeat the fine points of the two e-mails I had received from management. Her tone was a lot nicer than the text, but within her friendly attitude and empathetic voice there was a clear message:
I wasn’t meant to ask more questions about Morana Air. They were a trusted partner of Wolf Pines and implying that their trips were somehow unsafe was not appropriate under any circumstances. If I was to keep my job, I was to stop asking questions.
Without much of a choice, I told my boss that my curiosity about Morana Air had been satisfied. I knew that I could no longer ask any of my coworkers, but for a couple of days I kept some hope alive for the taxi driver coming back. From the look on his face, I could tell that he knew that something was wrong with the midnight trips.
From the look on his face, I could tell that he felt guilty.
Yet the taxi driver never came back. As the weeks went on Morana Air went from being a mystery that consumed every waking moment of my internal monologue to an eerie curiosity that I would occasionally think about shortly before I fell asleep. I still didn’t know where the elderly residents of Wolf Pines were taken every first Friday of the month, but what I did know was that I couldn’t lose my job.
After the initial mystery of the midnight trips, my life in Wolf Pines attained a calming regularity. There was the occasional escape attempt for me to calmly prevent and every other week I’d get at least one mind-boggling phone call from an overbearing relative, but aside from that work was just as tranquil as it could be. I managed to make a big dent in my reading list with the night shifts and, on the busier day shifts, I always had my lunch breaks to look forward to.
Many of the friendships I had made in the cafeteria were tragically short, but such is the nature of friendships in nursing homes. Throughout the months I said goodbye to a lot of the old folks who would sit with me during lunch, but one stayed a constant — Gabriella.
Gabriella was a stout woman in her early 90s. Aside from the wrinkles on her face and the difficulty she had sitting down or getting up from her chair, you couldn’t tell though. Gabriella’s mind was sharper than most healthy adults I know and her sense of humor had the cut of a professional. She had spent most of her life teaching and had an endless supply of stories from all the corners of the country where she had taught. Whenever I went for lunch she’d be sitting by my usual spot, waiting for me. My chats with Gabriella quickly became the highlight of my work day.
I had mentioned Morana Air to her, once. The cafeteria workers seemed completely uninterested in anything past the lunch queue and there were no other members of staff in the room, yet I still found myself speaking about Morana in a whisper.
I was actually relieved when Gabriella said she had never heard of them. By then, the questions of the midnight rides were starting to slip from my mind. Gabriella not being familiar with Morana Air calmed me. I presumed there still was a taxi arriving at Wolf Pines every first Friday of the month to pick up our residents, yet without being involved myself the concept was abstract enough to forget about.
I had accepted that some mysteries were better left unexplored. I almost forgot about Morana Air all together, but last week I was given a horrid reminder.
It was a day like any other. I got off for my lunch break around three and Gabriella was already sitting at our usual table waiting for me with her tray of easily chewable food. Something about her was different though. That usual sharpness of mind that reflected in her eyes had dulled, or, more accurately, was flickering away. When I sat down she spoke no differently than she usually did, but every couple of sentences her eyes would glaze over and her articulation descended into the realm of a child.
At first, I simply thought that something was wrong with her in a medical sense. It was tragic, yes, but the woman was not too far from being a century old. I thought I was simply watching someone’s years catch up with them, but then, about halfway through my sandwich, Gabriella took out a familiar piece of paper.
FLY WITH MORANA AIR TO PLACES YOU HAVE SEEN BUT FORGOTTEN!
She said a handsome young man in a suit had come to her room last night and told her all about Morana Air. She would go on a trip far, far away and meet everyone she had missed for so long. She would fly high up in the sky and float and laugh and feel young once more. She would fly with Morana Air and, best of all, the trip was completely free.
When she spoke about the trip her voice lost all trace of the Gabriela I knew. Even though she was 90, when Gabriela spoke about Morana Air she took on the voice and look of a barely cognizant child.
I tried asking questions. I tried asking about who the handsome young man was or where she was flying to or why she would trust a mysterious travel company that she had never heard about before. To my questions, Gabriella simply shook her head:
ā€œThey don’t like it when you ask questions,ā€ she said.
I had heard those words enough to not have any faith in getting past them. Instead of asking more questions, I asked Gabriella if I could borrow the pamphlet and give it back to her the following day. For a moment her eyes attained that same sharpness I was accustomed to. She gave me the pamphlet and then, with complete lucidity, asked me how my day was going.
I told her I had a meeting with the boss coming up and had to cut our lunch short.
Gabriella said she was looking forward to seeing me the next day.
I never saw her again.
I didn’t lie about the meeting. My boss wasn’t expecting me, but I did meet her. Pamphlet in hand and with fifteen minutes left on my lunch break, I went to her office and repeated my qualms about Morana Air. She was surprised to see me unearth the forbidden topic months after I was told to drop it, but when I showed her the pamphlet, when I told her about the ā€œhandsome young manā€ that came into the rooms of one of the residents last night — my superior’s demeanor changed. Holding the pamphlet by the tips of her fingers as if it was covered with filth, she started to ask questions.
For the first time since I started working at Wolf Pines, I saw my boss become visibly concerned. She spoke slowly, calculating each word. She wanted me to tell her, in detail, about all of the midnight shifts I had worked where residents left for Morana Air flights. She asked about the taxi driver and the woman who tried to give me the ring and then, when I had answered all of her questions and posed some of my own — she fired me.
My termination had nothing to do with Morana Air. I had left the reception desk unattended for over ten minutes. That was unacceptable. When I tried to argue the decision she summoned a familiar orderly that showed me the door.
I’ve checked before — I’ve checked many, many times before — but there’s still no trace of Morana Air online. They have no website, they have no way to book flights and there isn’t a trace of evidence of them ever having any charity programs for senior citizens.
I’ve been warned that if I tried to go to Wolf Pines Assisted Living Facility under any circumstances, the authorities would be contacted and charges would be pressed. The last thing I want to do is end up in cuffs, but as I watch the days count down to the start of the month I can’t help but to wonder what will happen to Gabriella.
I can’t help but wonder where the midnight taxi will take her.

2023.04.01 20:00 BigfootNancy Phoenix vs Atlanta vs Miami

Hi everyone! Hoping to get some first-hand experiences that can help me guide my decision.
Currently, I am living in downtown Phoenix and have lived in the greater Phoenix area (Old Town Scottsdale and Tempe) for the past 3 1/2 years. Before moving to Phoenix for grad school I lived in NYC for 4 or 5 years where I worked in hospitality and enjoyed the majority of my 20s. Originally I am from the Tampa area (Bradenton) in Florida where I lived until I graduated undergrad.
I am an urbanite at heart and love living in a city where things are walkable, people are plenty, and there are lots to do with little travel needed. My work is completely remote and can be done in AZ, GA, and FL so the local job market is not a factor in this decision.
Living downtown Phoenix so far has been the best option compared to the other cities I've lived in Arizona however the homelessness problem has gotten worse and worse and is, in my opinion out, of control. Having spent years in New York I'm no stranger to having homeless folks be a part of the city I live in but in Phoenix, there are people literally camped out in tents on the corner of my "luxury" apartment building, or have found their way into the dog park and seemingly no one is willing to do anything about it.
Also, I am a 30-year-old single gay man and it seems like the gay community is not very present here despite a large number of people in the area - something I miss coming from New York. Though there are many LGBTQ+ friendly bars and restaurants it seems there are very few gay bars, especially ones that are more casual compared to clubs. But maybe I'm biased coming from NYC? The summers in Phoenix are brutal but being from Florida I can manage, however, I wouldn't mind more mild or balanced weather.
There are lots of things to do in Phoenix, and lots of close by cities to visit for long weekends (Vegas, LA, San Diego) and I definitely don't hate it but I just don't feel like this east coaster is fitting in well and it doesn't feel like home so I am seriously considering a change.
The idea is to either move to Atlanta or Miami - partially to be closer to family back in Florida. The neighborhoods I've been browsing are Midtown Atlanta and South Beach Miami. I'd be comfortable paying 2k for rent or would be willing/able to buy a 1-bedroom up to about 350k but not sure which would city be a good fit for my other wants and needs.
In a nutshell, I would love to relocate to a city with a more prevalent gay scene, on the east coast, that didn't have tent cities popping up left and right. I enjoy going out to restaurants and bars to try the local cuisine and hitting up the gym. I'd also be open to a very nearby suburb, but like I said I am an urbanite at heart.
I am planning to spend 3 or 4 days in both Atlanta and Miami during the summer to escape some of the Arizona heat. Would appreciate any advice, neighborhoods to check out, or special things unique to the city before making the big decision of whether to pack it up and move or stay put.
Thanks in advance

(Descriptions of fictional crimes investigated by the story's main Character Max.)
Detective's Fate
It's august of 2008.....
Max is a detective living in Chicago He checks his pistol and puts on his police badge as he walks out his front door.
He has been searching for a serial killer known as the Caller for years and always been one step behind due to the red tape.....
More importantly the chief's lazy attitude towards getting search warrants and actions approved by the courts for raids. Twice Max had good intel on the suspect's locations and photo evidence showing him at the sites.
The department needs more vigilant, caring officers and leaders but no one steps up to do it, instead they just complain about the slow progress and officers. And hinder investigations.
Now Max has decided that it might be time to stop playing by the rules and catch this scumbag.... .... ....
Starting his car Max sets his GPS to the address that "The Caller" was last seen and pulls out of his driveway as the 50 miles of directions pop up.
The killer's nickname being for his signature of calling in as he is committing the crime.
As he drives he remembers his first case, five years ago now..... ..... .....
A woman, Joane Taylor, was found dead in an alleyway after going out for the night. She showed no signs of struggle leading the police to believe she had drank to much and expired from alcohol poisoning.... ...
The death was written off as a "party gone wrong".... That is until several more were found and the coroner decided on a whim to test for other substances.
Once it came out that the deaths were possible murders...
The calls started coming in, almost like the suspect wanted credit before revealing himself....
Then ways of the deaths began changing as the Serial Killer explored his twisted desires searching for his preferred method.
The last case being a young woman found stuffed in a dumpster after the killer apparently got scared off.... Max will never forget it.... .... ....
The GPS finishes and the car beeps its final direction, taking an exit off the highway. Ramps out here are always confusing... Which is funny since he has driven this one for five years now...
The chief says he should sit this one out but he can't... The latest victim 3 months ago.
Marie Spelner, a waitress out on her smoke break talking to her spouse on the phone.
Survived by her husband, no children or living relatives. ....
Max Spelner turns into the driveway of the house he was directed to... Stepping out of the car he walks up and knocks on the door. Looking at the house he knows the family must be doing well if they live here.... Raising his hand to knock again he hears a scream from inside....
A second later the door is answered by a middle aged butler holding a tray with wine glasses on it... "Hello Sir, I'm sorry but this house does not wish to partake in any offers at this time..."
Max calmly says. "I'm not selling anything."
The butler looks confused for a moment before his eyes dart over Max's shoulder seeing his unmarked cruiser and he nods.
Looking past the butler Max sees that a woman is cleaning up after their dog.
"Have you seen this man?" Says Max holds up a picture of the one suspected of being the killer.
The butler gives it a once over before replying. "I'm sorry sir, no I have not." His tone sounds like he is lying... ....
"Are you sure?" The detective asks.
"I would not lie about something like that, sir." He states, his eyes not meeting Max's.
The woman calls from inside "Fletcher, who are you talking too?"
"Some man asking about a killer" he calls back.
"The killer is an inside job!" The woman quickly states.
"What?!" Max says.
"The Killer, it's an inside job." She says again, louder this time. In the same Max also hears a child begin to cry in another room.
"We should start from the beginning, it will be easier to explain trust me." The woman says.
'She seems to know what is going on....
"How do I know your story holds water?" He asks out loud.
"Oh I wouldn't lie. I have been following the case myself and it seems like an inside job to me." She states, somehow sounding hurt.
"Is there anyone else in the house besides you two and the baby?" He asks noticing the baby isn't crying anymore.
"Just Fletcher and I live here, the baby is my cousins but he just stays the night sometimes." She replies.
Max draws his gun and enters the house upon reasonable suspicion of an emergency in progress or suspect on the premisses as the man seems to be deceiving.
While the woman still seems unconcerned that the child is now silent.
He pushes past the butler and rushes towards the area he heard the crying. passes the entryway, the dinning room, and a kitchen before finally finding a child in a playpen.
"There there..." He says in a sing song voice picking up the child. "I'm officer Max, do you know where your mommy is?"
The child just cries louder.
Then he sees the man from the photo walk out of the bathroom, upon seeing him he bolts for the door and Max sets the child down gently then gives chase.
He runs through the house, following the man as he can hear the woman screaming at him to stop but he doesn't."
"Stop or I'll shoot." The man doesn't even break stride.
Instead he runs out of the front door and jumps into his car.
Furious that the man might escape he fires at the car as it drives away.
The back window shatters and he hopes he got his tire, but he doesn't wait to find out as he runs to his car and initiates a pursuit....
He flips on his concealed lights in his cruiser as he reverses down the drive and into the street.
The suspects car is fast but he manages to keep up with it weaving in and out of traffic as people move over for the siren.
As they approach a red light there is heavy traffic in the intersection..... ....
The suspect slams on his brakes and Max's cruiser only just stops short of hitting it. Jumping out the Detective points his firearm at the vehicle running up beside seeing heavily tinted windows.
"Get out of the car and on the ground now!!" He shouts as he moves to the driver's side door.
After seeing no response....
Max throws open the door and the driver is gone with the passenger side open.
He quickly runs to the other side catching the man trying to sneak off tackling him to the ground and then takes his arms putting them behind his back.
Max grabs his radio and calls it in as the man cries.
As he is waiting he hears a noise that sounds like static.....
"Wrong guy moron.. Did you ever stop to think I wanted you close for this one. That I planned everything...Even framing the pothead..... I almost lost interest until you pulled in the driveway... The attic is kinda cramped tho... I think I'll go carve some meat. Maybe graduate to other things to. I'm not sure yet. Lets see if you can catch me before......" A familiar voice says over the radio then cuts off... ...
Max looks at the man on the ground. "Why did you run from me?" He asks.
"Cause I have like 19 grams of marijuana in my pocket." He replies...
"Do you know how stupid that is?! I don't care about that I'm looking for a killer."
Before he can answer Max hears the woman from the house screaming for her life and a child's cries on his radio.
Then from below Max. "He's in the house, he's in the house! My mom and the baby!" The man on the ground says crying.
Max uncuffs him and runs to his car heading back to the house as he lays down rubber on the road... ... ...
As he approaches and pulls into the driveway he notices the front door is open.
"Hold on I'm coming!" Max screams jumping out of his cruiser...
He runs into the house finding the woman's body arriving too late. Moving over to her he checks for a pulse but she is gone, a large gash in her neck.
As he stands up he slips in a fluid but gains his balance and tries not to think about what it is....
He rushes to the room the baby was in finding the play pen empty. He leaves the room searching the rest of the house and still doesn't find the child.
"Where are you!!!" He calls out....
"This is the Callers first kidnapping and the media would eat up the fact I failed to stop the man." He thinks as he blames himself.
Sirens begin to blare in the distance as backup is about to arrive... ... ...
"There's a woman dead and a baby missing! The woman is in the dinning room straight ahead of the front door, Hurry!" He yells into his radio...
Looking over at the mother seeing a piece of paper on the floor.
He walks over to it seeing writing.
"So close... Looks like I'm a kidnapper now.... Good luck finding me.... And... I so enjoyed killing that sweet wife of yours. Might do it that way again. Not to the kid tho....later Max. Ps. This game is so fun.." It says.
"He was here..." Is all he can muster as the team enters.
"He was right in this house and I missed it because her son freaked over weed and ran..." He says as another officer speaks to him gently.
"Don't beat yourself up Detective, it's not your fault. He must have hid before you got her and left after you arrived." The words do little to comfort him "First day back on the job and the killer escaped taking a child..." He says as he walks away.
The chief arrives in his new lexus with a screeching of rubber as he lurches to a halt.
He quickly exits and leaves his door hanging open as he rushes into Max's face....
"I told you to stay away from this case MAX!!!!....(takes a breath)...
"If I catch any flak from my superiors, I won't suspend you.... That'd be to easy. Desk duty and an entry level demotion. The new guy will have a higher rank than you if things go my way.... Now get outta my sight...". "(Sighs)...
"This job is gonna be the death of me..." He says walking away from Max and towards the Coroner's van..... ..... .....
On the way home the detective stops by the store close to his house which is unlike him because he usually follows the same routine.
He nears the front door and he hears a kitchen timer ding loudly from behind him as his car explodes throwing him through the storefront windows as they are blown out..... .....
Alarms around the lot and others nearby create a cacophony of noise. His head pounding as his body aches, Max pushes himself up and collapses as the store manager runs over to him telling him not to move as he dials 911.... .... ....
Waking in the hospital Max recalls the feeling of the Shockwave as he flinches in phantom pain.
"Who woulda thought its like holding a ringing metal bat that hurts your hands but all over and way more intense." He thinks.
He suddenly feels tired and falls asleep.... .... .... ....
The next time he wakes, he sees a breaking news story that Jane Saltani is reporting on....
"Young toddler Accidently Shoots Serial killekidnapper ending his life and Alerting residents in the Area." The news anchor says.
Sighing to himself Max thinks about how crazy that is and laughs.
Tho he really wanted to bring the guy in. He closes his eyes to get some much needed sleep as his door opens.
Max looks up to see a man with a silenced pistol pointed at him.
"Hm. Now they think I'm dead. Funny how they just assume they got the right guy. Just like.... You did Detect... ....." Max hears but then hears no more as his end comes at just over the speed of sound....
The Caller leaves the hair of another intelligent convicted murderer that he obtained in a spot that's believable and quickly leaves.....
He disables the surveillance system and sends a virus out to any device that has received video data from the hospital.
Erasing and corrupting the systems. Leaving a master hackers finger prints on a glass from his home....
"Sorry, no witnesses." He says to the security guard as he fires... ..... ..... .... ....

2023.04.01 19:44 TryingHard2023 44 [M4F] #NYC. Fit, Intelligent Guy Seeks A Dominant or Switchy Girl to Explore Something Fun and Meaningful

NYC area only
Hello,
I am a 44 year old single man, fairly fit, educated, a good career I am proud of, and for the most part happy with life. I’m a native New Yorker that has my own place and feel pretty well rounded. I’m looking for a real, ongoing connection in some way.
I’ve had some experience at being dominant in the bedroom in the past, but I’m more interested and experienced with submission for the past few years. Im posting to focus on my submission with a woman who is primarily dominant (maybe switchy, but definitely not required)
I’m a pretty balanced guy, I like to go out with friends, explore the city, have drinks on occasion, check out museums, bands, some intellectual pursuits, I love biking, soccer, rock climbing. I consider myself balanced and emotionally stable. I also feel like I have a good amount of skills and services to offer, I have a background in film, philosophy, public health, and teaching. I like to cook, and especially bake healthy treats, and enjoy communication and conversation.
I have a strong history of submitting over the years and would like to connect to that side of myself more and more. I’m open to connecting with either someone experienced or someone who is new and curious. What I mean to say is that I am open to exploring this gently with a newbie a few times a month, or going in more deeply to somewhat full time. Ultimately I would want to have a nice ongoing kinky connection, whether it’s play partners or something more serious.
I had a bad experience on reddit in the past and for that reason I prefer to start a little slow and casual, and build up and blossom as we connect more over time. This means not jumping into something full time, but feeling things out and see how that goes.
Some connection is important to me, not looking to get too vulnerable with someone when trust isn’t easily established. Typically I like to establish a connection vanilla and non-vanilla, meet, and then decide how we would like to proceed. STI checks and Covid checks if it gets there with any fluid exchange.
I don’t want to be like others and give a long laundry list of my kink interests as though I’m seeking a kink dispenser, but I do enjoy bondage, CBT, being biologically controlled via orgasms, and being pushed past comfort zones. Lately, I would like to explore things that are shameful, in terms of gender constructs and expectations. Or along the lines of being made to feel small, inadequate, or highlighting how weak I am due to sexual desires
I know this is long, but I hope someone reads it and feels a connection with it. I’m open to starting a conversation and just see where it leads.
If possible, please include age and location in your message just to weed out all the spam!
thank you very much

2023.04.01 19:22 Iheartpuppies04 Can I bill pay out of a money market/savings acct as long as within the allowed 6 transactions?

I'm new to savings/money market accounts so forgive me if this is a dumb question. I'm would like to start keeping most of my money in a savings account vs checking.
Currently, I put most of my purchases on a credit card and pay off the balance every month via automatic transfer from my checking account (set up through Citi credit card to pull from my checking account).
Can this be done with a savings/money market account as well? I realize it would need to be within the 6 allowed transactions. (So to be clear, can I put my savings/money market account info into my citi credit card account for it to pull from that to pay my balance each month?)
I would rather keep that money in a savings account vs having to keep it in my checking. I guess i could technically transfer it each month from savings to checking and then pay the credit card, but I'm wondering if I can avoid that step. Thanks!

2023.04.01 19:14 aroach1995 I think my Credit Union scammed me.

In December, I purchased a 1-year add-on Certificate of Deposit. It had a rate of 4.60% APR and I put in 5k to start. The add-on means I can add to the certificate over time. In mid-February, I decided I would not need my cash savings of 75k for another year, so I put it into the add-on CD, leaving me with about 80,000 in the account. Since it was mid-February, I did not gain that 4.60% on the money for the entire month, but maybe for 10 days or so. I accrued about $120 in interest in February. I was happy with this and excited to earn 4.60% for the entire month of March. It is finally April 1, so I checked my account to see the beautiful accrual of interest I expected… between $300 and $350 (4.60% on 80k for 31 days).
However, when I logged in, I see that they moved 65k of it into the 0.05% savings account and gave me that rate of interest for the entire month of March even though the money was in the 4.60% CD for the entire month of March.
They claim I can only use the add-on feature for up to $10,000.
Meanwhile, I have a money market account that earns about 1.50% that I used to fund the add-on CD.
so, to keep track, there are 3 accounts - savings, money market, CD
December balances:
Savings: 0
Money market: 75k
Add-on CD: 5k
January balances:
Savings: 0
Money market: 75k + interest gained
Add-on CD: 5k + interest gained
February 15:
Savings: 0
Money market: 0
CD: 80k + interest gained
March:
Savings: 0
Money market: 0
CD: 80k + interest gained
April:
Savings: 65k
Money Market: 0
CD: 15k
The problem I have is that the money sat in the 4.60% interest account for the entire month of March, but, on April 1, they move 65k to savings and credit me for 0.05% interest for the entire month of March - which is about $3, or 1/100th of what I was expecting.
Then they credited me with 4.60% interest on the remaining 15k in the add-on CD.
They say this money as moved manually by them, I asked why they allowed me to put it in there if only 10k add-on was allowed. Why didn’t they fix it in February? I got 4.60% interest on all of it in February and there was no problem. Why put the money into the 0.05% account when it originally came from the 1.50% money market?
I feel very robbed and I want to move all my money out. Was I wronged? Feel free to ask questions to clarify. PS I am on mobile and working on spacing it out for readability.

2023.04.01 19:10 gtfreakreddit $1.11 PPP surcharge for California residents on monthly bill started today April 1.

No this is not an April fools. I thought I paid next month due bill in full. When I checked my boost one app it shows I owe additional balance in cents due. The breakdown of my bill’s fee showed a $1.11 PPP surcharge which i dont recall in past bills. After researching online apparently this kicked in today for Californians. My bill is now over $26 with fees. I guess I gotta watch a little bit more ads for some more boost coins. Lol

2023.04.01 19:02 ventiiblack I got fired from my dream job

TW// mentions if suicide.
Im supposed to be on a social media break but I needed a supportive community to help me overcome this. I’m writing this through tears and need a place to get my thoughts out. Apologies, some of this might be out of order, have poor grammaspelling and not make sense. I’m just typing what’s on my mind.
A little context about me. I’m in my mid 20s. I got this job straight out of college and very much enjoyed it. They’re a smallish company of about 35 employees at the time (50+ now) Even though they wanted a degree in marketing (which is what I had), this work was not marketing related and paid so low but I was childless and lived below my means so I was okay with that. During the pandemic we moved to being permanently remote. This job became my dream job because it was easy work, remote and I enjoyed the activities and people I worked with. Then our company was bought out so the owner could retire and came a wave of high expectations. I can’t help but feel salty because a position was created just so the owner’s son could stay. No shade to him, he’s incredibly talented and nice but the nepotism makes me so salty about my situation. A co worker who I enjoyed working with was fired. This woman was with the company since 2000 when it started. I was shocked and I guess I should have saw this coming. If they could get rid of a veteran, what made me special? I don’t know the details but I believe it was because she didn’t want to subscribe to the new ā€œvaluesā€ put into place aka she wanted to do things her way like she’s always done. I went on mat leave for 18 months a little over a year after I started and came back to everything being so different and new faces. I had to learn the new processes while also juggling a toddler who just started daycare. Add my crippling mental health to that and we’ve got an underperforming employee who overstayed their welcome.
Anyway
Yesterday I started off my morning sending congratulations to a co worker on the arrival of her second born. I was then sent an invite link to a google meet with my boss’ boss. I had a bad feeling but I pushed it aside. The boss went from ā€œhelloā€ to ā€œwe’re terminating your employmentā€ almost immediately. It felt like my heart broke into a million pieces and I immediately broke down begging to be reconsidered and asking why this was happening after 3 years. He said he couldn’t go into much detail in the call but would send an email. I asked if it was because I had a toddler who was always sick and I was having trouble balancing work and motherhood (I returned to work in October when my son was 18 months). He told me ā€œlots of people have babiesā€ but both this boss and the president are men whose wives were probably the ones taking care of the kids when they were sick. I don’t think the president even took the paternity leave he’s entitled to when his third child was born several months before mine. Id also been battling mental health issues that I’ve been working with a doctor for 2 years now trying to find medication that works for me. I just quit lexapro cold turkey as it had the worst effect on me so far.
I immediately called my husband for support and supportive he was and I felt better but as soon as I hung up. I went back to drowning in tears. He told me to take this time to relax and do the hobbies I like but I find it difficult to do anything other than lay down and cry. I have a vacation I booked for myself in august. What if a new company doesn’t let me to? What if I don’t find a job in time? I hate being without my own money.
When someone at our company is fired the president sends a mass email telling everyone so that you can say your goodbyes. The only person who said goodbye to me was a co-worker on a different team who I occasionally work with on tasks. I said a cheerful goodbye in our teams group chat and got left on read. Not one person from my team said goodbye not even my boss who I’ve raved about to people and who had told me several times she was here to support me and would say the sweetest things (some of which had made me cry). I messaged her to ask for feedback as obviously she had a hand in my firing but she didn’t answer and set her status to DND. She has my number. Why couldn’t she at least text me or something? I feel like such a fool. I used to believe the ā€œwe’re a familyā€ bs they would go on about and would think that anyone who said it was a red flag and just hadn’t found the right fit. I then received the email and the only thing noted was that it was ā€œperformance-based and centered around my ability to execute on projects, complete them on time, and solve problems effectively.ā€ My performance started flunking when I decided to take on a huge task that no one else would and it started taking up so much of time. This task required work from different teams and I had to send the work through. Which I did. They want a problem solver but you’re penalized for asking for help?? They literally would tell me to let them know if I needed help.
My boss continued to send through big tasks knowing I was preoccupied. I quickly got burnt out and asked my boss and co workers if they would be willing to help me complete it. They were all more than willingly. Then the build up to my firing happened. My boss set up a meeting with me asking if due dates would help me with completing assignments. I said sure and she set a due date for the big task which was completed much before the assigned date. She would check in periodically and I told her twice it was done and all that was left was the other teams work. She asked what I was doing a couple of days before and I told her the new task I was working on and she left it at that. I can’t help but think they fired me because they regret the 18% raise my boss convinced the president to give me. I used to get called ā€œspeedyā€ because of my ability to push through tasks one by one. Why couldn’t I have just gotten written up or a clear warning? Instead of a due date and being told it’s okay and I would be supported. I’m angry, the day before we spent the afternoon playing games and I was having a good time with my co workers and now nothing. All that free overtime I did to get that stupid task out of the way. I should have never taken it on. It was getting buried in our task list and I knew the client would come back and ask why nothing was started. Suddenly, I can think of all the ways I should have approached this maybe if I thought about it before hand I’d still be employed.

Remote Online Notarization: Perhaps More Secure than In-Person Notarial Acts?
Remote Online Notarization is definitely becoming more common recently. It isn't new. Many states passed legislation back in the late 2000s/early2010s. Since that time, the technology has improved significantly.
The technology and procedures include concrete checks and balances to ensure authenticity and prevent fraud. The person requesting notarization has to upload their government issued identifications and other personal information via a software which also takes them through a series of questions based on known elements of their individual history. They cannot continue with the process unless everything is verified. In addition, the live video conference with the Electronic Notary is recorded and kept on file for any later review.
It might actually be more "secure" than an in-person notary as people are more likely to be deceived than the technology. Notaries cannot cross reference information in confidential databases and validate physical identification cards. Video recording of in-person transactions is not a common practice and may be more awkward for everyone if a notary desired to implement such a face to face practice.
Always remember, all notarizations are still governed by state and federal laws which carry stiff penalties for perjury and fraud. This true for in-person notarial acts. Additional laws and more severe penalties apply to any and all frauds which are committed electronically, by wire, via the internet, etc. So there are additional enforcements which can be brought to bare if someone engages in such crimes.
The idea of it does take some getting used to for traditional notaries but Remote Online Notarization is simply keeping step with all the other ways people conduct / transact personal business electronically on a daily basis.
