2023.03.24 04:43 Moochefmoo Birthday Dinner - Las Vegas strip recommendations? Treating family on a budget.
I’m turning 24 this year in late August. Personal reasons, but I am now about to turn an age double that what I was supposed to live so it’s super important to me. I decided to go to Vegas and stay on the strip.
My family has made the effort and decided to come with me! I’m extremely grateful as no one is well off but they think I’m worth the saving and splurge for. Everyone is paying their own way.
6 people have confirmed to come, but could be 8 ( my bro got a new job that starts close to the dates, so he needs permission- his gf will come if he does)
I would like to pay for my own birthday dinner as a thank you. No one wants or expects me to- so if over budget it will not be an issue by any means but if I can save and swing it I would love to. My boyfriend is also willing to pay fully or help with costs- so the actual bill total is not an issue. My family doesn’t drink - drink around my parents so maybe 4 people would even order 1 drink. Never more than 1 w/ parents present.
I love Italian food. I love lombardis but they closed and I tried giada but thought it was mid . I can’t eat seafood due to allergies but if they got a good steak or something I’ll go somewhere everyone can enjoy. I like almost all cuisines but my family is more Italian/ French/ American/ Mexican leaning.
Would love to keep the meal for 6 people under $380 dollars ( not including tip). Is that a decent budget? Should I save More? And most importantly any restaurant recommendations????
I’m from TN and want to try things that aren’t present here.
I’m willing to work OT and take on extra tasks to make sure I can afford this as my

2023.03.24 04:33 Aware_Ad2047 I look like an imbecile for not going to college
I am 23 and I fucked up bad. I didnt go to college after high school and because of it I’m struggling. On LinkedIn I look like a fool compared to peers I went to high school with. I did very good film lighting work for a couple of years that I was incredibly lucky to get on sets such as Foodnetwork, Charles Schwab, Menswearhouse and more commercials and PBS shows and a couple other shows. I also have a couple years of volunteer firefighting. I’m trying to see if I can get back into lighting somehow while also going to school. It looks good on my resume and linkedin but other than that I have no degree and these people my age have a career they’re solidly starting thanks to their degree.
I have no degree and not just do I look stupid irl and on LinkedIn but I am making less money, know less people, and having a significantly worse life than I grew up having or that anyone around my age right now has because of my own stupidity. Some people even get lucky not going to college but not me. I left the lighting thing but now want to get back and firefighting is not for me. Military would be cool if I could do school at the same time fully. Not to sound pretentious but I shouldn’t be living like this. I live in a sober house having to work minimum wage when I grew up going to fancy restaurants and MoMa and the Guggenheim in NYC. No friends or anything to do either College would have probably helped with that. I fucked up not caring about school. Sorry that part was a lil foul of taste but it’s an authentic feeling I guess. Just wish I made the right choices I wouldn’t be in this position.

2023.03.24 02:59 Postage_stamp_ I'm starting a second, much more organized playthrough, any tips?
I attempted to fix my spaghetti bowl of a factory on my old 130 hour save, that went poorly, so I'm starting a new save with the intention of not making a giant Italian restaurant. Any tips from y'all?

2023.03.24 02:25 1toughduck ... and peasant bread was it's name-o...
Long shot here... is anyone familiar with the restaurant called Macaroni Grill? A chain italian place in Midwest USA that served these little fresh baked misshapen flat breads called Peasant bread? Kinda like a flatter, softer foccacia with a crispy salted top. I've searched and searched for some similar recipe but am having no luck. If anyone remembers these and has any idea how I might duplicate something like it... please please share it here! Thank you!!

2023.03.24 02:04 NYCUICD I’ve made a HUGE mistake and need help problem-solving! [Insert Gob meme here]
So, I’m a fan of MCM furniture and just purchased a beautiful vintage two-piece credenza/China cabinet online. That being said, I live three hours away in NYC and don’t have help to pick it up. I drive and plan to rent a van but any idea on how I can find someone around Framingham, MA to help me load it into the van? I can only pick it up on a specific date per sellers rule.
In my defense, similar pieces go for about $5,000 and I got it for less than a 1/8 of that price. I couldn’t just let this opportunity pass my by!
Thanks in advance!

2023.03.24 01:51 FerJMV Les manifestations sont-elles planifiées ou spontanées ? (Paris)

2023.03.23 23:08 Sober_Messiah Help me find this recipe? Please?!
My local mom and pop Italian restaurant used to serve a dish that they called “fettuccine mod a mio” (honestly probably butchering that spelling as I was a child the last time I had it ) anyway it was a fettuccine noodles in a pink sauce with slices of I believe ham and artichoke. I can’t find a recipe anywhere and wondered if anyone had anything even remotely similar or know it by a different name. (The owners where Albanian if that matters any and an idea where a recipe could originate)

2023.03.23 22:20 mousebat Italian restaurant style spare ribs
I’m looking for a recipe for the spare ribs you get across Italian restaurants in the UK.
They’re fennel heavy and have a sweet lava like sauce.
Whenever any member of my family orders this in a restaurant, the bread on the table disappears quick as everyone wants to taste the sauce!
Hope anybody can help :)

2023.03.23 19:45 Hunhunannie Aunts Haunted House
I moved into my aunt and uncle’s house for about two years, I was a 5th grader. It was my three younger cousins, my sister and I who were mostly in the home. I rarely remember my aunt being home (which should have been a red flag) and her husband worked the graveyard shift so we weren’t allowed to be rowdy during the day.
The home is in this part of town that historically settled by Irish immigrants so a lot of deaths happened due to poor water hygiene and a fire that forced them out, etc. The house previously belonged to my uncles father so he was very attached to the home, as an Asian immigrant buying a home in those days were very rare because of how poor they were. The times when my aunt was home, they often argued (i can’t remember what). For a time, she didn’t sleep in the same bed with her husband and slept with the kids in our room. I remember him wrestling her on the bed one day and breaking the window next to it. It felt more ackward than scary because it felt more like they were hiding something. After that I remember hearing my other aunts and grandma whispering about how the house should be sold and everyone should move out.
All while this is happening, weird things would occur in the home. My aunt really liked to gamble with her siblings and I guess it was her way of being able to stay away from home late at night and my uncle is off at work. Like all children my cousins, my sister and I loved watching TV. Back when Adult Swim would air late night anime and we all would tune in in the living room with our eyes glued to the latest or re-runs of Wolf’s Rain episodes. One night the doors connecting the living room to the foyer slammed shut (they were always left wide open because it was one of the weird rules we followed) and all of us turned to see the panic on each others face and ran into the girls bedroom. We were terrified out of our minds. once we all got into the room we panicked even more because we had left the lights and tv on, if our aunt came home knowing we weren’t sleeping we were in trouble. We all demanded the oldest should go turn it off, which was my sister but she refused! In our panic someone asked “did we lock the door?” So we knew we were all f***** whenever our aunt came home but we were all too scared to leave the bedroom after that experience.
When my aunt did come home she was FURIOUS lol the lights were on, the tv was on, the doors weren’t locked, and children were up past midnight. She asked and we told her the truth. The look in her eyes I will never forget, it was confirmation that she too experiences the same things in that house. We were chewed out and my aunt went about pretending nothing happened. But things kept escalating, they got dogs and would leave them in different places throughout the home at night. In the middle of the night, sometimes one dog would bark at the darkness as if something were there. Which only made my aunt unhinged even more, I ended moving in with my grandma in the middle of 6th grade and escaped that place. But even 20+ years later, I still have nightmares about that house.
Let me know if you’d be more interested in hear other things that happens inside this house for me. My aunt did end up selling the house years later to the Italian restaurant behind it because they wanted to expand their parking lot but never has. I believe it’s because the land is cursed, or the entity won’t allow them to build. My aunt were not Christians and hired a Shaman (we are southeast Asian) for years to cleanse and rid the spirits lingering there with no success. After selling the house, a giant Cross was built in front of the home, and posters of Jesus and the cross were zip tied to the fence around the property.

2023.03.23 19:35 mizaustin WON THE SNL TICKET LOTTERY, SAW IT LIVE, AND HERE IS HOW AWESOME IT WAS!
Been a fan since 1980. I was a wee little kid staying up late to watch the "naughty show". Been entering the ticket lottery for years. Got the email that we won, and didn't believe it but booked flights and hotel anyway. Brought our email, ID and Vax cards to 30 Rock at 9pm, still wondering if the email was real and if this was going to happen because you don't get a reply after you reply to the OG invite email. We waited in line to check in- I don’t think I breathed until they found our names and handed us our wristbands. We cleared security and then we were sent to the holding area, aka, the Peacock Room. They had an absolutely kick ass DJ (got his card, btw) quick-mixing every amazing dance song ever made, free beer and soft drinks, and on every wall was a cluster of video screens that looked like picture frames that would rotate scenes and characters from every season of SNL. My daughter (19) and I posed by Stefan anytime he appeared. lol. For about 90 minutes, we’d bop around as they would remind us to go to the bathroom (go piss, girl) because once seated in 8H, there was no leaving. And also reminding us that as soon as we left for the studio our phones must be shut down and put away.
Then they began calling groups. You are sent to studio 8H based on whatever is written on the back of your ticket. You go into the golden elevators. Then you’re led down a long corridor filled with photos from previous shows. As soon as we got to the actual studio and saw the stages and the famous "flying chair", my daughter and I audibly gasped. We were one of the last groups, which we feared meant that we’d be too far away to see anything, but ended up on these top level “seat filler seats” which had more room than normal seats. In fact, our two seats lined up exactly with the center stage mic. We had an insane view of the whole process, and it was magical.
The studio is three stages--left side, musical guest. middle, SNL band and main stage. Right side, sliding props and sets and one set that is built-in. Leading up to the show, I had heard that they’d have a comedian hype us up. I wondered who it would be…and it was MICHAEL CHE! He was hysterical, and when he finished we were like “hell yeah, now we are ready”. But then out of nowhere, Kenan and Ego and Heidi and Chloe came out in costumes and began singing a funky ass song that got us all on our feet. None of this was on-air, and we felt too cool watching it up close.
Before they went live, the atmosphere was quiet but electric. I think we all held our breath in the audience. What struck me was how serious the cast was before the cameras came on. Then as soon as it happened, they dove right into character and it was wild to witness. When the first sketch ended and they said “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!” I think both of us cried. again. lol.
Episode 945, show #15 of the 48th season featured Jenna Ortega, fresh off her show “Wednesday” and The 1975. Lily was concerned that the lead singer of the band was known for doing some truly off the wall stuff onstage at his live shows…but he behaved for SNL.
The opening sketch was an Oscar’s sketch—timely since the award show was airing the following night. Watching the cast line up in costume to appear onstage was fun. Sarah Silverman was filled with energy, bouncing around with Bowen Yang like she was about to burst from excitement. Most of this sketch was done on the main stage, which had to be dismantled quickly before Jenna came out for her monologue
As soon as “Live from NY” was yelled, the theme song started and everyone ran offstage to prepare for the second skit as Jenna got ready to come out and do her monologue. It went well, and she brought Fred Armisen to the show. As soon as she finished and they cut to commercial, a woman grabbed Jenna like a prop (girl is like 5 feet tall and maybe 90 lbs soaking wet) and yanked her offstage to get her costume and makeup ready.
The second skit was “School vs School”, set up on the far left of the studio in front of the stage for the musical guest. I expected it to be a Wednesday-themed skit, but it was actually a regular school taking on a knockoff of professor X’s school for the gifted. Jenna was Rogue and she crushed it. She knew exactly when the camera was on her, and allowed herself to break and laugh only when she was off camera. It was super professional.
They yanked her offstage yet again, and we got a Please Don’t Destroy video. This time, PDD did a spoof on the great American Road Trip with Jenna, and it was really funny!
The next skit was about a remake of the Parent Trap with Fred Armisen as a crew member with acting aspirations and no talent. It was so well done, and Kenan was laughing a lot when not on camera.
Then they switched to the “Ridiculousness” skit, which was done on the far right of the stages. It was so weird and funny, but it was the hardest one for us to see based on where we sat. Mikey Day & Chloe were sooo good, and the laughter in the audience was very loud!
Then the Waffle House video hit and were were HOWLING. It was like they knew that we’d come all the way from Atlanta to see the show. And yes, Waffle House is like that. It really is.
The 1975 took the stage and we were very happy the lead singer didn’t eat raw meat or pleasure himself onstage. They did a good job with “Im in love with you” but all we could think about was what was coming next…WEEKEND UPDATE!
A few fun facts about our favorite part of the show: The whole time the camera is centered on Colin Jost, Michael Che is making faces and gestures and laughing on the desk. He has so much fun on that desk. I know he keeps saying he’s gonna leave, but why would you leave such a fun gig? Also, they hid the "guests" from the audience behind plywood placed at the end of the sets so the audience’s reaction was genuine. Molly did a great job as the Tennessee Lt Gov, but the coolest was when James Austin Johnson did his impressions live. It was crazy accurate. He is very talented!
Then it was onto my second favorite skit of the night, the “exorcism” sketch. Ego ate that sketch up like a holiday meal. She was SO GOOD. Jenna looked eerily like Linda Blair from the OG movie, and Andrew and Chloe were awesome as the scared parents. What we didn’t know at the time, was that when Ego brought Kenan onto the set as “Frank” he officially set a record of his 1600th sketch on the show. INSANE.
As soon as we saw the band getting ready, we had mixed emotions. We knew that time had flown by, and the show would soon be ending. However, my daughter said “I just hope they do my favorite song, Oh Caroline” and then they did! She was thrilled! I was trying to slow down time.
Finally, the last sketch—and my favorite of the whole night, was the “Jingle Pitch”. A group of lawyers enlist help creating a catchy jingle based on their decidedly bad phone number from a performing duo they had heard while getting plastered in an Italian restaurant. Jenna and Bowen were off the hook fun getting “Luched”. Andrew & James took it to the next level as stereotypical nightclub singers and we laughed til we cried. Afterward we learned that the sketch was Bowen’s 200th sketch. He’s gonna have to do a lot to catch up to 1600, tho.
The band began playing the closing song notes, Jenna said her thank you, and then the credits roll FOREVER. It cuts off on TV quickly, but it goes on and on in the studio. Slowly, all the cast begin to wave goodbye and dash offstage, the lights came up, and we went back up the narrow hallway filled with the iconic show photos toward the golden elevators. As we were walking, a woman was screaming “ANGELA! ANGELA!” and when my daughter turned to see who was next to her and yelling, it was Punkie! She and Heidi had come from backstage to grab some friends who had come to the show. Then we boarded the elevators, turned on our phones and were led down to the gift shop. Every show gets a special T-Shirt with the info for that show only, and when they run out, that’s it. Both of us grabbed shirts before the rack was emptied!
At about 1:30am we walked back out into the arctic blast as a cold front moved over NYC. We went back to the hotel and watched the skits online that we had just seen live and marveled how it all worked out so well. We passed out to the symphony of honking horns and sirens, dreaming of getting a chance to do it all again one day. And yeah, I will keep entering every August and encouraging friends to do it as well, because it was one of the coolest nights of my life and hope everyone gets a chance to see it. Thank you SNL!
