I’m a 21 year old female and my relationship with my parents (mostly my dad) has always been difficult. When I was in middle school, that was the time where I developed the interest of hanging out with my friends outside of the school but when I brought up that topic with my parents, it was immediately shut down and it was not something to negotiate about. My mom would always instill this idea in my head that I would be potentially SA by my friends brothers if I were ever to go to their houses ever since kindergarten. And yes, that is a really messed up idea to use to scare your child who literally hasn’t even hit puberty, let alone not even have my first puberty class yet.
Moving onto my first year of high school I started to rebel against my parents by not going straight home after school and just choosing to hang out with my friends. My high school being a 40 minute bus ride from home gave me a lot of freedom and excuses to not be home on time. Me rebelling on my first year of high school caused me to have a poor gpa and made my parents lose a lot of trust in me even though they didn’t even have an ounce of trust in me when I was a star student in middle school. I thought, since they wouldn’t let me have my innocent fun with my middle school friends even though I did well with my grades, I might as well go behind their backs in high school and hang out with friends after school. And I was never doing anything bad, I just wanted to go to the mall, parks, restaurants like a normal teen. But this was considered bad and to my mom, a gateway to teen pregnancy or something.
Fast forward to college. During the summer of 2021, I got my first job as a florist & balloon maker at a grocery store. The way I was even able to get this job was I had my grandpa secretly drive me to my interview without my dad knowing. And the way I broke the news to my dad is that I told him I was hired and he got extremely upset. He says that I am wasting my time for 5 days a week. Ever since the summer of 2021, I was too scared to get another summer job because of how my dad would react.
To this day he still says that a job is a waste of time to me and my 16 year old brother who recently also wanted a job but had to surrender his position since our dad told him to cancel it. I am so lost and could never understand my dads mentality and his overall way of thinking. As for my friends and social life part, when I ask him if I can attend a friends birthday party, he says no and if I try to ask again or even beg he shuts me down completely and I am not allowed to reason with him AT ALL NO MATTER WHAT because it can get ugly arguing with my dad and I fear him a lot. I have missed many important friends parties because of him. It makes me so sad and hopeless because I feel stuck in this never ending hell. I need work experience so other jobs would want to hire me in the future but my dad makes it impossible. I want to move out far away but my dad also makes that impossible. I want to have better friendships that are actually deep and meaningful but again, he makes that impossible. What I can do is get a remote job but it is so difficult since I don’t have much experience other than working at a grocery store for a summer. What can I do to make my life less difficult with parents like mine?

Some background: I moved from CT to DC, I have a CT registration and GEICO based out of DC. My parents live in RI. I left my car in RI, at my parents’ house because I flew back to DC and I am in the middle of moving stuff back and forth, so I left it there temporarily.
Anyway, my brother borrowed my car, which has full coverage, and got into an accident. I was not in the state and didn’t actually know he was going to use it, but I told him and my parents “if anyone really needs to use it, you guys can, just try to avoid it if you no can”. Technically he has my permission. Either way, the other party is claiming damages to the car and also bodily injury to the three occupants of the vehicle. My policy covers $50K.
My brother filed a claim with my insurance so now I am navigating this from DC and trying to sort it all out. RI laws are unique, given that the percentage that a person is determined to be at fault is the percentage that they can claim from the other person’s insurance…or at least that is how I understand it.
My brother and the other party involved have retained legal counsel…not sure why to be honest, but both parties have also gone to the doctor claiming some type of injury.
I have not signed any paperwork from his lawyer asking me to retain legal counsel from him; just not sure about it all.
In my 20 years driving I have only been in one accident and it was a hit and run by a guy who had stolen a car. I’be been cautious my whole time behind the wheel and now someone else driving my car is what could affect my policy.

(im not on either team as this point i think it’s redundant to pick a side) but i just really hate the fact that melissa and joe decided to come onto the show at all. they easily could have been like side characters this entire time. if joe was such a successful real estate developer why go on the show? he originally hated melissa working and to me it seems like the show was the only way she wouldn’t work what joe considered “a real job” so he could protect his own pride but still make money since he clearly needed it. their relationship with tre was bad but they didnt care the show meant more to them and that set the tone for everything that happened subsequently. i don’t care for them having their own spot and regardless of what they had to do to get on or whether they even needed to do anything at all, they still shouldn’t have done it. i will never be able to like them because of that.
their driving factor was money, success, fame, they had shitty relationship with tre before they got on they certainly will while they’re on. it comes down to the gorgas wanting a chance in the spotlight to have melissa outshine tre but it just didn’t work out for them. sure melissa might be the star in a parallel universe but certainly not this one. the family being destroyed was a byproduct of their decision to come on with so much more fuel added to the fire over the years considering how terribly both sides deal with their issues with one another.
melissa is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. so as long as she keeps spinning the narrative to paint herself as the sweet and innocent one she’ll always be just meh-lissa. like do literally anything else let’s try to be interesting on our own (re: failed music career, “i want another baby”) like yeah girl you didn’t commit mortgage fraud but you’re still boring. bitter. blah. still without a unique storyline or any storyline outside of tre and joe at all. like i feel nothing from melissa she’s never expressed anything or exemplified anything remotely impactful or meaningful to me. the one thing i will always give teresa credit for despite her many flaws and toxic traits is her relationship with her daughters and she’s raised them well. another thing is the love she for her parents and it goes without saying teresa always took good care of nonno (RIP❤️) also throughout everything with joe giudice, she’s built a healthy coparenting relationship with him and respects him as the girls’ father and that takes work.
can you imagine how much better the show would have been if we took all the airtime the gorgas had and replaced that with airtime of teresa and her daughters doing literally anything and like juicy joe in the kitchen or some shit. melissa only gets props from fans when she puts teresa in her place but like what else is there to give her praise over that isnt her shady bs boutique. like the gorgas do nothing but bring out the worst in teresa which prompts teresa to bring out the worst in them too. literally oil and water the show would have been way better without them

Hoping someone might help me put this to bed. This is in England
Just over two years ago I went to Birmingham, drove in the clean air zone, my partner in the car paid the charge on her phone whilst we were driving.
About a month later I moved in with her (right before the first lockdown hit) it was all done in a rush and that was that.
Fast forward to about 6 weeks ago I get a call from a collection agency claiming I owe them money, I knew nothing of it so thought it was a scam and hung up. I called Birmingham council to double check what the agency claimed and they said there was an open case against me! So they had been sending all correspondance to my old address, hense me knowing nothing about this for years. They got the address from my v5 at the time.
After a few phone calls to the council I found the proof of payment, got confirmation from the clean air company themselves and sent through all the proof that I did pay the charge at the time.
The council have said that because the fine has moved up the ladder, there is nothing they can do, I have to go through a late payment request, through some court system to which I cannot talk to, and it was rejected becuase I put my old address on it.
I have spoken to three different departments and no-one can fix it, it is always someone elses job to sort it but no one can tell me who can sort it.
I have refused to give them my new address because I do not want bayliffs turning up to my house for a fine I do not owe.
Can anyone shed any light on how I can get this resolved becuase I am having to take time off work to call them, chase everything up all for a fine I do not owe. All the burden is on me to prove my innocence rather than them admitting their error and sorting it out.

I’ve liked this boy in my art for about 5 months on and off. We made a friend group in that art class and he’s particularly close with one the girls in the group. They said that they have a brother-sister bonds. They’ve known each other longer and people have suspected of liking each other.Over the last few months, me and him got closer. We often send memes and he complimented my singing. Saying I sound like Freddy Mercury. We often talk about movies, music, art and more.He often told me about he tried to ask out this girl but she never texted back, so he moved on. He’s always saying how he wants to find a girl to jam out to music with. He plays guitar and I sing/play ukulele. I like him a lot, he also came to see my drama play. We hang out a lot now and text. We FaceTime the other day and played our musical instruments together. We also went on Guardians of the Galaxy together and I held onto him for dear life. I have some big news about the future of The Brotherhood of Old. I'm mostly writing this as a commitment to myself so that I actually do it, and also as a rallying call to those who may be interested in helping out. Feel free to read along as I think aloud. This will be a long read, so buckle up.
I have decided to cancel development of version 1.2 and shift my focus to developing version 2.0. This will obviously push any updates outside of 2023.
What is version 2.0?
As stated in the previous announcement for version 1.2:
My main objective is to completely remake and restructure the final few quests, mainly "The Cults of Darkness" and "The True Brotherhood" as these are the most complicated and complex quests in the mod and often have issues running properly.
That will no longer be the main focus. What I aim to accomplish with version 2.0 is something I've been wanting to do for many years but have not had the time to do until recently... So now you're probably saying "Come on man, get to the point!" So, without further ado:
Version 2.0 at its core, will be a complete rework of the entire mod. While not rebuilt from the ground up, sweeping and extensive changes will be made. Making all of this happen will be no small feat, so I would like to take this opportunity to open things up to the community. I would like for this mod to turn into something made by a team. It would be great to have a team with diverse skills and ideas all contributing to it, rather than everything coming from the vortex that is my head. I am looking for talent in writing, level design, quest development, Papyrus, and 3D modelling. If you are interested in signing up, please fill out this form.
Here are some of the main things you can hope to expect:
A rewrite/revision + extension of the main story.
More focus will be spent on player choice and freedom, rather than a story involving you basically babysitting the chosen one. While Vala Amatius will still be a key part of the narrative, it will no longer be strictly centered around her. Additionally, this will no longer be a story that assumes you played through or remember the events that happened in Oblivion, but it will reward those of you that have/do.
It will dive into exploring the history of the Dark Brotherhood and how it got to the point where it is presently in the original Skyrim story. You, the player, will have first-hand experience figuring out what exactly happened, how to prevent it from ever happening again, and how you plan on rebuilding the Brotherhood. Will you recruit new assassins first? Will you have new Sanctuaries opened? Will you restore the Black Hand, or operate on your own? Will you drive it all into the ground? The choice will be yours. You as the Listener will take a more active and hands-on role in how everything plays out. The story will no longer force you in any one direction, and you will have choice and agency at every turn. The decisions you make will play a pivotal role in how the story plays out and subsequently ends. While the Night Mother will still offer you suggestions on what to do and where to go, the final decision will always rest in your hands.
There will be a handful of interesting and fleshed out characters for you to choose from when recruiting. You will have freedom to choose among the characters you like, and will no longer be forced into selecting the ones that the mod chooses for you.
Each character introduced, which will include existing ones like J’Zakar, M’Jirra, Undil, Azuk and of course, Vala, will all have “loyalty missions” similar to how it’s done in Mass Effect. For those of you who don’t know what that means… Essentially, you will have the option to talk to each of these characters about their backstories, which will lead to you going on a little personal adventure with them if you so choose. By the end of these loyalty quests, you will be able to take each of them as a follower and companion who will also be marriageable if you want that.
Who are we up against?
The Crimson Scars, who are the primary antagonist of this story, are an ancient splinter group of the Dark Brotherhood made up entirely of vampires. They believe that Sithis has ordered them to extinguish all non-vampires from the Dark Brotherhood and will stop at nothing to see this become a reality. In the original mod, they only show up near the tail end, and are basically shoe-horned in without much explanation. This will be changed in a big way. You will now encounter them much earlier on and they will be an active threat you experience throughout. Rumor has it that you may be able to join them, but that’s just hearsay. Subsequently, the Morag Tong will no longer be a part of this story and will be removed from it entirely unless there is a good reason for them to be involved.
New Sanctuary and location overhauls:
All of the new locations added by the mod will receive complete overhauls and will look far better than they do currently.
New items, weapons, and armors:
In addition to the bonus rewards you receive from quests, there will be new unique weapons and armors that any self-respecting Listener would enjoy.

I work for a corporation in IT. We had a guy we'll call Milo working for about 5 years as a Linux Engineer. He had a certification from a few years ago that was three Linux versions behind what we are using. At this company, an engineer title makes significantly more money than the rest of us "advisors" or "seniors". Anyway, I've worked here almost two years on the Linux team. Interacting with this guy about work was difficult. He couldn't stay on work-related subjects. Most answers were how he doesn't know something, then has a story that goes with why or how he doesn't know. Or it was stories about the good old days of floppy drives and DOS, then he would talk about going to Jamaica a few times a year for vacation.
Here are some examples of incidents over the last year or so: * He made a scheduled task on a server using the wrong password for a service account, then he was tasked to figure out what keeps locking the service account, and he said he has no idea but is able to spend 2 months on the project. * He was tasked to do some code modernization on a list of scripts that do certain functions. He said he wanted to re-write them in the Ruby language. After 3 months the scripts were useless - he copy/pasted some of the content in each script so the files were bigger, and the date was updated but could not be used. * He "worked from home" and was assigned documentation for our systems. He had old documents and was told what to update and was sent diagrams to insert into the documents - the docs were saved to make the date change, and no other modifications were done. * Destroyed a server with a "find" command - easy to do, it was a rookie mistake, but this guy is holding the position of Linux engineer. He either didn't own up to it, or he sincerely didn't understand what he did. * Tasked to create role-based access control for identity manager for our network. Not simple, but he is an engineer so this should be the level of his day-to-day job. After 8 months, zero progress was made on this. We had our network inspected by a vulnerability team. It was discovered that an unauthorized person could make accounts for people. The team said role-based access control should be set up to prevent this. * When patching was done, he never did follow-ups to ensure everything restarted if needed or if services were intact after a restart.
We have a requirement to have the latest Linux certification. Milo said he was really concerned about this because he passed version 5 a few years ago after taking it 4 times, and he didn't know how he passed.
Management knew about his activities or lack of, and they shuffled him from manager to manager with low ratings every review he got. No one had done the paperwork to fire him until our manager did. It turned out that he had three years of things like this happening, so I only saw a small slice.
When his name is brought up to other people on our team and other departments, there are similar stories of his destruction. I've asked around, and he didn't talk to anyone else about Jamaica, that was just me. I'm wondering if it was just to keep me off task or distracted for some reason.
My big question is just why? Was he actually incompetent and we were getting 100% of him always, or was he just doing things to waste time at work to go home?
