2023.06.07 23:15 33sikici33 How do I know I'm good enough to apply for a Laravel developer job?
The title basically explains it all.
I froze my education in my last year of university (I guess you guys call it college), and I have zero motivation to finish it.
With that being said, I know how to build a website with Laravel, but it seems there is much more to it than setting up routes, writing functions, and returning views. For example, services, containers, service containers, providers, observers, and a million more things that I don't even know what they do or how they work... I've finished many (at least 5) Laravel courses and not a single one mentioned any of these.
Is there a course or something somewhere, that teaches you everything you need to know to apply for a Laravel developer job?

2023.06.07 23:15 saty_rss I was fired today
Today I was fired from Walmart, I had six points. I understand now that the limit is five however the only reason I went past five is because I was put on the schedule for a day that I never work and had no way to get there.
However, that was Thursday. They let me work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before telling me today. I feel as though it’s because of a different reason though.
On Sunday I did all the claims in meat in the morning so when 8 came around, I asked the women I was working with to do it. Since that seems fair, I do claims in the morning so you can do it at night. She cause a huge fit and I asked the manager to ask if she can do it since I only had 30 minutes left.
She came back shouting and being belligerent and started showing the message to other people in the departments. One again didn’t bother me cause I was leaving.
I understand the point limit but I was never given a warning or any type of strike, and had these points way before today but they didn’t do anything until after her fit. Maybe I’m reading to much into it but it just doesn’t make sense. Another guy who works there had 9 points at one time.

2023.06.07 23:15 jhg_21 [TOMT][Story] A reddit fantasy story where the chosen one swaps bodies with his best friend
So, a long time ago I read a story (possibly on writingprompts) about your typical medieval fantasy with a chosen one kid in a village, etc. Its one of those stories that get more parts outside the original post.
The twist is that the chosen one swaps bodies with his best friend to avoid going on the mission, and the friend is the protagonist.
I remember part of it, mostly the beggining, I will describe it:
The chosen one has light powers from the light god, and the mission was to go to a volcano or mountain to find something. At the start of the journey the boy and soldiers that escort him get attacked by bandits or something lime that. Eventually he reaches the volcano and the god of light screws him or tries to kill him. There he survives and meets the fire godsess. Dont remember much more.
I would have sworn that the name was 'Charred' or something similar, but no luck finding it so maybe its wrong

2023.06.07 23:15 imposed_exile This is very likely a dumb question regarding MF
I received the r6 as a (very generous) gift but because I’m not much of a photographer I’m struggling with some aspects of it. My primary issue is that “MF” is continually blinking and the shutter won’t fire. For context: I’m trying to take photos through my microscope so I’m not even using a proper lens. However, I have the exact same issue with a vintage lens with the EF adapter. I know it must be an internal setting but for the life of me I can’t figure it out. Prior to this I was using a 80d without issue. Any help is appreciated..

2023.06.07 23:15 storymaiden Books written in the style of a history book but take place in a fictional world?
I love to read fantasy because I get swept away in the worlds. This got me thinking: is there a way that I could enjoy the worldbuilding in more depth? Maybe there are fictional books that are written in the style of a history book? The closest I've come to finding something like this is when the book is written in the style of a memoir. The Lady Trent series (RL author Marie Brennan) is an example of this. However, as they follow one character, they are close to what I want but just a little too far. I've asked my friends but the closest that we could get to was George R R Martin's Fire and Blood which a tie in with a pre-existing series. Does anyone know anything similar to what I'm trying to find? If not, I may have to follow the phrase 'if you can't find the book you want to read, write it'.

2023.06.07 23:14 Illustrious_Ad_5403 A hill I would like to die on... Transformers Dark of The Moon was actually pretty good,
the movie does legit great work of actually giving some of the characters some well deserved screen time, for one I'd like to point out the elephant in the room aka optimus being absolutely brutal and not showing sentinel any mercy whatsoever, and while it might seem legit cruel without context, if you actually watch the movie start to finish it makes so much sense. I was really happy with the second half of the movie that being the decepticon takeover of the entire planet, the exposition for the decepticons is great, it shows just how violent, brutal and unforgiving they were. Literally exterminating a defenseless sentient and intelegent Race of beings. The views of the decepticons made sense though. They were erradicating a race that was going to go extinct anyways, trying to take the resources of earth and using them to rebuild their own planet. It's almost horrifying how similar they are to humans, hell I can see us doing the same thing. And as I stated before it then starts to make sense why optimus was so brutal, they would slaughter the friends and family he cared for without mercy. Now I will admit the movie 100% has it's flaws, mainly the way decepticons are handled , but that's a problem throughout the entire live action films. War for Cybertron I think handled them correctly, but to be honest I don't know if we'd ever get another blessing like that. (Idk why but cybertron stuff has always been fire) Also when Megatron asked for a truce with his only request to be in charge I feel like they should have had a longer conversation rather than optimus just killing him instantly, since in all honesty that was a huge moment if you think about it. The war that's been waging for years upon years could have come to an end and it wasn't taken as seriously as it should have. But all in all I'd give it a 75% on my Aidan meter. It did not deserve the 35% from the critics and certainly not the 55% from the audience. That is my hill.

2023.06.07 23:14 HalogenReddit I just finished the tobey maguire spider man movie
it has got to be one of the the cheesiest, most incoherent, and unrelatable things I’ve ever watched—how do people enjoy this dumpster fire?
Here’s some of the first words of the movie: “this story, like any story worth telling, is about a girl” like wtf
There’s even a homophobic joke in it for good measure
By the way I started the movie with a good attitude after hearing good things about it

2023.06.07 23:14 Zagaroth [No Need For A Core?] - CH 090: Danger-shrooms
Cover Art <<
Previous Start Next >>
Copying their original shape and color for now, Mordecai started his forest with the mushrooms that had a single stalk and cap. Or rather, that showed above ground that way, all mushrooms were merely the ‘fruit’ of the actual fungus. They wouldn’t entirely behave that way when he was done, but the main body would always be below the ground.
The very tallest ones were thin with narrow, pointy caps, while each successive tier of shorter mushroom had wider caps and thicker stalks. The very shortest, broadest of these had a clearance of about 10 feet between the ground and the bottom of the cap. Once he had enough for a thick canopy, Mordecai switched to the mushrooms with more interesting designs.
Some grew in small, tightly packed clumps, others spread out in branching layers. Over here was a cluster that looked like horns, while another one looked almost like a piece of coral or a brain. And there were so many colors to go with the endless variety of shapes; bright oranges, vivid reds, and even the occasional delicate blue. It was rather beautiful he had to admit. But he wasn’t done.
Now that he had a common layer done, he started adding rarer ones. In one area he added some mushrooms that ‘bled’ a crimson fluid out of its cap as well as a beautiful pink-capped mushroom that ‘bled’ a pale yellow fluid from its white stalk. While the first was completely inedible as the fluid was an anti-coagulant, the second one was merely bitter, and someone with the right knowledge could tell the difference, and possibly make a weapon coating to increase the bleeding of cut and pierced foes. Keeping in theme with the forest, they were 1 to 2 feet tall, much larger than their normal variations.
And that was one thing Mordecai was being very careful of, any mushroom that was an upscaled version of a normal mushroom would have the same properties. So he continued creating clusters of various normal mushroom varieties until there were only a few types he hadn’t placed. Those were going to be the base for some of his more creative work, and he wanted them to be a bit more obvious that they weren’t the same as the normal mushrooms. At least, if you knew what a normal one was supposed to look like.
But before that, it was time to work in a bit of precaution. While most druids were better with plants and animals than they were with fungi, some specialized in fungi, and he’d already been served up his reminder about druids. So he drew on the living crystal that they had created for flowers and incorporated it into this level as well. As the theme here was mushrooms, he used the living crystal concept to create new mushrooms. These were tiny buds that liked to nestle amongst other mushrooms, and their mycelium wove between and intertwined with the mycelium of the other mushrooms. Their crystalline nature would resist most attempts at controlling them through normal nature magic, while their living aspect resisted elemental control.
The top layer of soil was almost a veneer, more than a foot down and one would find a thick matting of mycelium, and this structure wove its way even deeper, to the crystalline sheathing he and Kazue had started integrating into all of the dungeon’s outer structure.
Now it was time to have fun. He’d need to give everything a less lethal mode, but he was going to start with the deadly version to make the design feel right. Puff balls were a good start, these he enhanced to make their spores more aggressive and faster to grow, making exposure dangerous and inhalation worse. Then he added variety, imbuing some with a stronger version of a stink horn's odor. While not particularly dangerous, direct exposure can be overwhelming and leave one sickened and retching as they tried to recover. It left people vulnerable while making noise that might draw unwanted attention. He also made sure that these spores, but not the puffball itself, were sticky and luminescent to visibly mark the victim as well.
Now, the stinkhorns brought up another idea. Many varieties had netting which was used to spread their scent. They didn’t act like traps, but they looked like they could be actual nets. So he was going to make some that were. The first step was to alter the secretion to be a subtle, attractive scent that would lure people closer even if they didn’t realize they were smelling it. And instead of having the netting just grow, it stayed rolled up until something was close enough to trigger it, not unlike a puffball’s explosive action. The netting was coated in the sweet-scented secretion, which was also sticky, acidic, and contained a digestive enzyme. The combination was designed to entangle prey and keep it trapped while it was dissolved, and in such concentration the sweet scent proved to also be a soporific, dulling the mind and potentially sending the prey to sleep.
His next trap mushrooms were more direct in their attack, but didn’t come with a lure. Instead, they grew in spread-out groupings, tightly packed clusters at the tip of foot-long stalks that could hide among other mushrooms. They had a basic motion sensor trigger, and the groups were always all the same organism. When movement happened close enough to trigger three or more stalks at the same time, every triggered stalk’s tip exploded with tethered, razor-sharp darts, whose edges were hardened by living crystal. The darts were coated with a paralytic neurotoxin, and when they hit home would inject even more. The outer coating ensured that even a glancing blow to the flesh would at least deliver some of the toxins and hopefully slow the prey down enough to get caught.
The tethers were simple strands, designed to act like harpoon lines and give the toxin time to take effect. There were no digestive enzymes here, the goal was simply to down the prey and let it decompose in place, enriching the soil. The tethers dropped off the stalks about 10 minutes after the darts were fired, the prey was either disabled or free by then, and the stalks could start regenerating a new set of darts.
Mordecai moved on to creating his final active hazard. He created a new type of mushroom tree to populate the forest, about 12 feet tall and with a wide, thin cap whose underside glowed with a soft violet light. Most of them were actually perfectly safe, and the light actually promoted quicker healing for most creatures, but a small percentage of them were actually a look-alike species, differentiated from a distance only by a subtle change in the color of its light.
This light created a soothing effect, but it was designed to slow and distract creatures rather than promote healing. This left them more vulnerable when tendrils unfurled from the cap to lash about, wrapping around anything unfortunate enough to be hit by them. The tendrils didn’t stop whipping about when they caught something, the violent motion shaking its prey hard enough to potentially snap necks, limbs, or spines, depending on what portion of a creature had been grabbed. The violent motion lasted for about a minute before the tendrils came to a stop. It took about 20 more minutes for them to retract into the gills of the cap, carrying any prey into the mushroom’s flesh where it could be properly digested.
With the hazards finished, and one of them giving off light, it seemed like a good time to work on more lighting. There was a type of mushroom that grew out from vertical surfaces, dipping down and curving up before forming its cap. This made it look a bit like a wall-mounted lantern, and Mordecai ran with that idea. The first variants he spawned near the waterfalls and the springs near surfaces that let them hang out over the water. After making sure they were adjusted to only want very wet or humid environments, he gave them luminescence in a variety of orange, red, and goldish yellow colors, then made them prolific spore producers, with the spores glowing in the same colors. The spores were about neutrally buoyant to water, with a bit of variation to ensure the glowing spores spread out to different levels in the streams. The visual effect was somewhere between that of water reflecting fire and the molten glow of lava. It did not compliment the violet glow coming from some of the mushroom trees at all.
The spores would also get brought to the edge of the water, deposited by various ripples and splashes, making it hard to see exactly where the edge of the water was. This wasn’t helped by the spores finding niches to grow more of the little lantern mushrooms, leaving all the waterways a confusing haze. The spores and mushrooms were all perfectly harmless and reasonably nutritious, so the streams could be used as a water source without worrying about poison at least.
And for a third light source, Mordecai used the same style of lantern mushrooms but made these ones not like humidity as much, and also adverse to direct violet illumination from the mushroom trees that glowed. These glowed a sickly greenish color, and could grow on almost any vertical surface but did not like growing in high concentration. This left their glow diffuse and unreliable as a light source.
None of these three colors worked well together, and were never in enough concentration to combine evenly into a roughly white illumination. The waterways were the only consistent illumination available naturally, but that would also leave one’s outline visible against the glowing water. The other choice was to make one’s way through the patchy light and shadow of the forest.
Of course, one could produce one’s own light source of a proper white and easily wash out the effects of these other colors, but such glow would also be quite noticeable to anyone close enough. Most of the time there would at least not be a direct line of sight to make a light source visible to anyone too far away.
Overall it was rather disorienting for most types of vision and forced adventurers into making trade-off decisions about light and visibility as they prepared to contest the dangers of the level.
Once he was satisfied that the environment was well set, it was time to start modifying some inhabitants, and he had quite a few ideas he was eager to try out. There were some serpentine variants of draconic body shapes he had plans for.

2023.06.07 23:13 WasdCritics Curse of the Dead Gods
| While a game in the rouguelite genre Curse of the Dead Gods presents a subtle unity of the elements that make up the work, yet with a conclusion that serves too much of the gameplay, and almost nothing of the plot. The plot of Curse of the Dead Gods discurses about an adventurer named Caradog McCallister exploring the temple of the god of death, within this environment there are three gods imprisoned by the god of death Xbeltz'aloc, the gods are: T'amok' the jaguar god of war and earthly fire, Yaatz the eagle goddess of the sky and fire storm, and Sich'al the serpent goddess of divine vision and perception. The goal of the game is to destroy the god himself and conquer this temple. This plot is not spelled out right away, there is little information and it is given throughout the game when the player is able to unlock the bestiary pages. The pages have limited information and are usually stray snippets of history without many connections. It is clear that the story is in the background in the game, it is not the core of the work, but the way it is put, always in fragments, and scattered makes sense with the proposal of the game, the character is an explorer, the information must be mined and discovered little by little and nothing is clear and concise. It is a very interesting idea that by leaving aside this side of the storyline still makes up a unity with the proposal of the work. To understand the plot there is a certain effort from the player to compose the loose pieces of history and this generates immersion with this explorer character. The interesting thing is that this character has no lines, this makes him distant from the player, not intimate at all. Perhaps this works with the idea of the player dying and being resurrected at the beginning of the temple, the character's death is trivial because of the distance that is created between her and the player, which starts with the lack of a name for the character. Rouguelite as a genre receives several roguelike characteristics but adds some ideas of its own, the hack slash proposal, and that of permanent items, despite the classic permanent death. Curse of the Dead Gods presented this genre that roughly speaking cares much more about the mechanics and challenges than about the story, succeeds in this less important aspect, because the work uses the story to corroborate the classic mechanics of the genre. The resurrection mechanic is based on the god of death himself who plays sadistically resurrecting the player infinite times to try again to complete the temple, so this mechanic of resurrection, the constant repetition of the path to try to overcome it that is a basic idea of the rouguelite is corroborated by the game's story. Another point that the mechanics are connected to the story is in the attributes: constitution, dexterity, and perception, each one linked to a color and a god. The constitution is linked to the jaguar god and the color red, dexterity to the eagle goddess and the color blue, and perception to the serpent goddess and the color green. In addition the blessings are also linked to the gods following the color ideas, the red blessings to the jaguar god, the blue blessings to the eagle goddess and the green blessings to the serpent goddess. As in the story these gods are imprisoned by the god of death, it makes sense for him to help the player overcome the temples, kill the god of death and so they can be set free. Again the story, serving the game mechanics. https://preview.redd.it/pzd11bn2wn4b1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3383cfcc7b93b1b2ec07ab76bd4c28b06eb3c37a It is not only the story that works for the game mechanics to make sense within the context of the work, the setting is also part of it. The temple, a dark place, full of monsters that has already been challenged by several other adventurers, this environment for being a temple and being connected to the divine, should have relics with sacred powers and for being explored countless times by several explorers should have several weapons used that were abandoned along the way during exploration, in addition as an environment dominated by the god of death, the lighting is needed as a basic antagonist the personification of the idea of death: dark, cold and treacherous, unlike fire that is light, warm and comfortable. With these ideas it is introduced different mechanics that are part of the game, the environment itself gives meaning to the mechanics made available. The mechanics are the basis of every roguelite, they are the key point, the core, the true protagonist of the work. That said, when analyzing them, they propose a large set of influences on top of the basic hack slash, dodge, and block gameplay, using lighting, weapons, attributes, corruption, blessings, divine favors, and relics. These influences come from different places, as mentioned before. The different mechanics that make up the game at first seem extremely complex and become easy to understand over time, but these outcroppings that influence the base gameplay, mask a chronic problem of the game, the simplicity of this same base gameplay. This simplicity is one factor that can destroy the experience when playing a roguelite. The roguelite as a game is all about challenges and overcoming, when it comes to the player experience, this is what makes it exciting, the feeling of overcoming, of achievement, and the harder the game is the more rewarding that feeling is. Of course, the developers have to keep in mind the limits of difficulty that they themselves propose in order not to discourage the players with constant failures. The line is fine, but it needs to be precise, this is the key point of a work of this style. The enemies presented are simple mechanically, both the normal mobs and some bosses, always with simple attacks and very easy to dodge, even some monsters towards the end of the game, such as the dark snake avatar, the boss is ridiculous how simple it is to face it, even the final boss is not a great challenge. Besides this problem, there is a problem directly related to the conclusion of the game, when facing the champion of the god of death, the last boss of the game, and ending the game, at least theoretically, the cinematic for conclusion serves directly to the mechanics, when killing himself instead of accepting to be dominated by the mask and assume the post of the new champion, the player returns to the beginning of time. This directly serves the mechanical idea of the player being able to continue doing the expeditions and not simply assume the position of the new champion of the god of death, however, when thinking about this the solution to the story's impasse does not exist, why will the gods continue helping the explorer if there are only two solutions and neither saves them? and yet the lack of choice at the end creates a feeling of obligation to stay in this loop forever, there is a sense of defeat, even after victory, the problem is that this defeat is imposed. Aesthetically the game is beautiful, the cartooning to deal with dark themes allows a natural surreality that is common in cartoons in general, so the choice is assertive. The thicker lines of the drawings make everything more defined, and serve well the mechanical purpose of delimiting the space of objects, making it easier to dodge attacks, skills, and traps in the game. One cool detail is the permanent items themselves, the idea of the crystal skull, makes a reference to the classic Indian jones and marries with the idea of the explorer, and the jade ring connects to the more oriental mystical part and the culture of jade as a holder of mystical powers. These two references do the idea of the work as a whole well. In conclusion, Curse of the Dead Gods manages to have a unity as a work with all its elements working together, presenting these elements as a strong support for its flagship, but the work gets lost in the core of its proposal and pushes down a disgusting ending that works solely for the game mechanics and not for the conclusion of a work. submitted by WasdCritics to u/WasdCritics [link] [comments] |

2023.06.07 23:12 moonymoony_13 Remapping keys in physical AZERTY keyboard
I am having a very specific problem with the keyboard from a laptop I bought. I explained more of it in this post
https://www.reddit.com/PowerToys/comments/131pmz3/remapping_some_keys_in_original_azerty_physical/ I made in another sub. But since no one answered me I am trying this sub because I have no idea on where to ask and this one sounded like the more suitable one. In short, I bought a laptop with a physical AZERTY keyboard, however I'm used to a Brazilian Portuguese keyboard (which is a version of a QWERTY keyboard). When I change the layout of my keyboard for this configuration I lost the key which contains the question mark. Changing my keyboard for a physical QWERTY is out of question because of its price and the PowerToys software doesn't solve my problem. I have no idea why, but the question mark simply disappears on the PowerToys remapping section and I can't find any way to remap it using this software.
I've tried to search a lot online on how I could try other ways to remap keys (I'm using Windows 11), but I haven't managed to find anything that seems really effective.
Maybe is there a software that allows me to remap a key directly from its Unicode? I've found some stuff online that gives me the impression, but the little info available on "means" besides PowerToys was not very useful because it would allow me to remap the key in a way that works for just some applications in the computer.
I'm sorry if this is not the correct sub for asking this kind of question. If that's the case, I would appreciate a lot if someone could give me a lead on where to ask or look for an answer. Anyways, I appreciate any advice.

2023.06.07 23:12 Cardstatman House Designed around Utility, Weapon Storage and Openness
| This build contains 3 Weapon Rooms (so all Legendary Weapons can be displayed), 1 Shield Room and 1 Bow Room, a Kitchen for cooking, a Bedroom for sleeping and a Statue for upgrading. I did use one set of normal stairs but opted for Ascend to get to very top. I wanted a picture room but found the pond and garden just looked better to me. Great views as it basically all open as well. Epona was out riding, but she is in the stable now as well 😂 submitted by Cardstatman to tearsofthekingdom [link] [comments] |
