2023.06.08 01:22 DPGamez123 Wednesday Season 2 Episode 2- Woe Thy Enemy.

Wednesday Season 2
Episode 2- Woe Thy Enemy
Wednesday and Xavier are now reacting to the results of her vision, he looks scared
"Uh… well maybe this is one of those misdirection visions you sometimes get?"
She looks confused
"I just don't know… I… I need to get back to the school. You should too… it is getting late.
Xavier smirks
"Is the stone cold Addams looking out for me?"
She glares
"Do not test me…"
Wednesday exits the shed and walks into the darkening forest. The next day, Wednesday is at The Quad and sitting at a bench with Enid and Yoko. Yoko is drinking her cup of blood, Enid is trying on some hats, and Wednesday is packing a bag. Wednesday looks at Yoko
"What is your preferred blood type?"
Yoko stops sipping and responds
"O Positive is good, AB Negative has a nice punch to it."
Wednesday thinks
"B Positive leaves a pleasant coating in your throat… It is quite refreshing."
Enid pushes her drink away
"I… didn't wanna drink fruit punch anyway…"
Wednesday zips up more of her pack
"Relax Enid, no need to vomit here."
Enid's current boyfriend, Ajax, approaches the table with another student with him. Enid looks excited
"Hi babe! You're looking cutesy today…"
Ajax looks at his outfit
"But I wear this every day?"
"Oh I know… the point still stands."
Wednesday rolls her eyes at their over the top PDA. Ajax looks to his friend.
"Girls, this is one of my new buds, Trevor. One of the other Gorgons here."
He smiles at the girls and introduces himself
"Hi, nice to meet you guys."
Wednesday looks alarmed a bit
"You haven't met any of us before?"
Ajax interjects
"Trevor transferred here this semester after a stoning incident."
Trevor explains
"Wasn't anything crazy… someone broke my favorite coffee mug… and I got angry. I… didn't mean to hurt anyone but it happened. They lived though."
Enid looks surprised
"You stoned someone over a coffee mug?"
Yoko sips again and smacks her lips
"Some coffee mugs can be priceless, like the one of mine you broke last year? Divina gave me that one…"
Enid cringes
"Right… I swear that wasp was glaring at me. So I swatted it"
Ajax starts talking again
"Anyway, I'm kinda showing him around here. Thought I'd bring him up to me and X's room later."
They walk off and Enid notices Wednesday's judgmental look
"Why so judgy? He seems nice."
Wednesday Stands up
"Everyone is a suspect… that stalker is out there somewhere…"
Yoko drinks more
"But Ajax said he was a newbie. How could it be him?"
Enid notices her all packed up
"Uhm… where are you going?"
Wednesday reluctantly answers
"Jericho… I have a few missions to do."
Enid looks surprised
"Jericho!? Why? You don't wanna get evolved with normies again, right?"
Wednesday looks angered
"What I do on my own time is my decision. Come on Thing…"
Thing comes from messing with one if Enid's hats to Wednesday's bag
Just outside the gates to Nevermore, Wednesday hears someone calling her name
"Wednesday! Wait up.*
It's Eugene, he's got his backpack again
"What do you want, Eugene? I've got somewhere to be."
He straightens his glasses
"Where too? I don't want you out there alone Wednesday."
Wednesday stares at him and responds
"I wasn't the one who nearly died in the woods last semester… you need to stay here. I will be back later."
He frowns as she walks away
"But Hummers stick together…"
She sighs and rolls her eyes and turns around
"Fine… you may come along. But you follow my lead, and listen to me, got it?"
He smiles and runs up next to her
"Thank you Wednesday. So, where are we going?"
"Jericho."
Wednesday and Eugene are seen walking to Jericho as she monologue
"Returning to Jericho brings back some strange feelings. Perhaps Enid is right, I shouldn't get involved with anyone here. But there are some shady things going on at Nevermore. And I may need help"
She walks in the town and is filled with a dreadful feeling. Especially when she goes to the entrance of a familiar restaurant, The Weathervane. Eugene notices
"You ok? You look… scared?"
She groans
"I am not… scared… it's just strange, Ok. I… I had my first kiss here. And it hasn't sat right with me ever since. It's the moment where I went from feeling victorious… to feeling like I was a failure as a detective."
Eugene puts a hand on her shoulder
"You're not a failure, you're a hero."
She scoffs
"Please… don't call me that. Heroes are boring. I prefer the ones stuck in the middle."
Eugene giggles as they open the door. She walks inside and at the counter is no longer a tall, curly haired two faced monster. Just a normal Barista. She looks at Wednesday when she gets to the counter
"Hello young lady, can I get you anything?"
She nods
"I will take my usual."
The Barista looks confused
"You're a reg? I don't seem to remember you?"
Wednesday sighs
"We are Nevermore Students. School has been out of session for several weeks. But since this place has clearly no respect for its patrons, I will take a Quad Over Ice… "
She punches in the order
"And you, young man?"
He smiles
"A hot chocolate, please."
She punches in his
"Names?"
Eugene goes first
"Eugene."
"Addams. Wednesday Addams."
She looks surprised
"W-w-wednesday Addams? As in the Wednesday who stopped that monster on the loose who was also our former barista?"
Wednesday shrugs
"That is my name…"
The Barista smiles
"Then for your Valor, you may drink free here whenever you'd like. On the house."
Wednesday nods okay, and takes a seat with Eugene at a booth. Soon, a familiar person walks inside.
"Addams…"
*Wednesday turns to look, it's Lucas Walker."
"Lucas…"
Eugene seems happy
"Hey Lucas."
Lucas waves and talks to Wednesday.
"Look, I want to thank you Wednesday."
She's confused
"Thank me?"
He nods
"For putting the woman who killed my father behind bars."
She nods, understanding
"I see. I don't usually say this about everyone, but your father was a good man. He deserved a better fate."
Eugene interjects
"She means she's sorry…"
She eyes him
"Well, thank you. Guess I'll be seeing you around for the Nevermore Reopening Event next week?"
She's confused
"What event?"
He continues
"At the park next week. The mayor is planning a party of sorts for the returning students. Oh and uh… sorry about Tyler."
Now she looks upset
"Don't… let's just not talk about him. I know you two used to be friends. But after last semester… things are different."
Lucas goes up to the counter as Eugene talks to Wednesday.
"So, what else are we doing here besides getting drinks?"
She clarifies
"I need to talk to someone."
The scene then cuts to The Police Station. Eugene is now confused
"The police station?"
She nods
"I need to ask some questions. My stalker for one. Perhaps they can help me piece things together."
Eugene nods
"Makes sense. Let's go!"
She Grabs his shoulder
"Wait… you wait at the bench outside. I need to talk alone. Okay?"
He sulks
"Okay…"
She walks inside and the lady at the desk sees her
"Hello Miss. Can I help…"
She's interrupted by someone else
"Addams?"
Sheriff Galpin exits his office and has his normal stern look
"Sheriff Galpin…"
He walks slowly towards her
"What do you want, kid? You aren't causing trouble again, are you?"
She maintains her current facial expression
"That depends on what you mean about trouble. Anyway, I have come here to talk…"
He begrudgingly agrees
"I see, come on inside."
They enter his office and sit. He starts the conversation
"Okay… what have we now? Another monster. A zombie? What?"
She retorts
"I can tell you're mocking me. I too like to poke at people…"
He taps his desk
"Well… what do you got?"
She pulls out her phone
"Before I left Nevermore last semester… I started getting these pictures sent to me saying to watch out. Threats. I think it's a stalker."
Galpin looks at the pictures. The ones of her and Xavier. Her and Enid's room. And the one that strikes him the most, one of his son
"One of these is of… my son. That I can tell you is not him. He's still at the rehabilitation center for monsters."
She starts to talk
"That I know… Is he still turning into the Hyde?"
Galpin glares
"That is none of your concern. What matters is he ain't here."
She nods
"I understand. So, what do you recommend I do?"
He looks at his paperwork
"I can file a report to look out for suspicious activity online in the area. But it isn't a guaranteed method."
She nods okay
"It is a start I suppose. And… about… Tyler. I… I'm s… ss… sorry about him getting taken away."
He sighs and looks sad
"Appreciate it… and please don't mention him. It has been… difficult to say the least."
Wednesday Stands up
"Alright then. I should get going. Appreciate the help."
He retorts
"Don't get involved with any police business this time… I mean it this time."
She walks out the door
"I don't believe that helped much, Thing."
He signs that it's better than nothing. She feels a vibration in her pocket
"What now…"
She looks at her phone, it's her stalker
Stalker-
You think the cops can save you?
They send a picture of Eugene on the bench
"Shit… Eugene!"
She runs outside and he's just poking at bees on the bushes
"Eugene!?'
He looks at her
"What!? Everything okay!?"
She calms down
"Yes… it's nothing… I suppose."
He looks concerned
"Are you sure? You never get scared?"
She's insulted
"Scared? No, I was just… seeing if you were alright. Look at this."
He looks at the photo, he seems startled too
"Whoa… that's me! But… who is it? There's nobody here…"
She shoves it in her pocket
"That's what always happens. He or she just sends a picture and shows no signs of their occurrence. So far Me, you, Xavier, Enid… and even Tyler have been in the photos."
He walks with her
"So does that mean it's someone else?"
She nods no
"Possibly, but that doesn't mean there aren't multiple. Like Tyler and Thornhill."
He seems disappointed
"You think I'm involved?"
She keeps walking
"Not necessarily… I want to believe you, and Enid and Xavier. But I trusted and distrusted the wrong people last time. I don't want to rule anyone out."
He understands
"We should get back to Nevermore. Classes start in a half hour."
The two make it back. Wednesday arrives at Fencing class. She zips up her suit and walks to Kent
"Is Xavier late? He should be here."
He nods no
"Xavier didn't take fencing this time. He took another art class instead."
Divina interjects
"I think he's just afraid to lose to you."
The twins giggle
"That he should be. As should the two of you…"
Bianca walks out with her mask at her hip
"Wednesday Addams…"
She glances
"Bianca Barclay…"
She stands next to Wednesday
"Ready to be bested again? By the superior duelist?"
Wednesday seems confident
"Only if you are ready to be beaten quicker."
Ajax looks at them
"You two really gotta chill… there's more to this than beating each other."
Bianca looks at him
"It's just pre-game banter, Ajax. It isn't serious."
Wednesday interrupts
"I never said that…"
Everyone gives her their usually worried look as the coach speaks
"First round… Ajax against Trevor!"
The two Stoners look at each other and Mask up as the coach talks more
"En Garde…"
They take their stances. Enid looks happy
"You got this Ajax!"
He winks at her as he and Trevor touch blades and they start dueling. It's quite even until they pick up the pace as Trevor scores a hit on Ajax's lower arm
"Point to Trevor!"
Some of them applaud while Enid frowns. Ajax recuperates
"Ah… damn. Nice hit."
They form up again
"En garde…"
They mask up again and start to duel they're in a lock when Trevor takes Ajax by surprise as he strikes his knee
"Game… Trevor."
Ajax and Trevor shake hands and return to the stands. Yoko elbows Enid lightly to get her attention
"Your man needs some practice…"
Enid sticks her tongue out at her, annoyed. Ajax stands next to her
"Don't sweat it babe, we all have our bad days."
A few matches go bye. Yoko against Kent, Divina against Enid. And more. Finally Wednesday and Bianca are up. Bianca speaks up
"Finally some real players are up."
Some of the others scoff at her banter as They square up. Wednesday talks
"Do not get overconfident. I prefer a good even match."
Bianca gives her a playful cocktail grin
"We'll see Addams…"
They step back
"En garde…"
They mask up and immediately they start to strike and do spins and ducks. Wednesday doing side flips and the like. Bianca gets the upper hand and swings at Wednesday's arm.
"Point… Bianca!"
The others applaud at their match. Enid whistles
"That was amazing! You got the next round Wednesday!'
Wednesday gives her a confirming nod as they square up again. The Coach speaks
"En garde…"
They start dueling again, Wednesday does a flip over Bianca and swings behind her, disarming Bianca and promptly pokes her chest
The others Roar with applause as Bianca smiles
"Point… Wednesday"
"That was some good shit right there… let's see what you got on round three…"
They get ready once more
"En garde!"
They start dueling and as Wednesday clashes with Bianca her head jerks back and she falls hard. Bianca looks concerned
"Wednesday? You okay!?"
Enid and Thing run up
"She's having a vision, shit… now what…"
Wednesday is seeing a vision again. In its, she sees Bianca getting clonked from behind and knocked out. She wakes up out of breath. Trevor is confused
"What… what happened?"
Ajax explains
"Wednesday is a psychic… She has random visions of the future sometimes. It's some creepy shit dude."
Enid is at her side
"Hey? You okay? What'd you see?"
She holds her head and sits up, as she points at Bianca
"Me?"
She nods as she stands up
"You were knocked out… hit from behind by something…"
She looks at Divina worried
"Where?"
She tries to recollect
"It was hard to tell… but it was night time…"
Divina thinks of something
"I'd say we implement a buddy system?"
Wednesday looks confused
"What is that?"
She continues
"Nobody should travel anywhere alone. If you go somewhere… especially at night… have a buddy with you."
Enid nods
"That could work… why can't we just have a normal school year?"
Wednesday gestures to Thing
"Fortunately, I always have someone with me."
Kent looks at him
"But he's just a hand?"
Wednesday looks at him
"A hand that knocked you out, remember?"
He crossed his arms and pouts
"Don't wanna talk about that…"
Divina rolls her eyes
"Oh get over it…"
Enid checks the time
"Shit… it's 11:27. We gotta be at next class in 3 minutes. We should get going."
Bianca pats Wednesday's shoulder
"Good game Wednesday, you earned that one."
Wednesday is confused
"What? I didn't beat you?"
Bianca smiles
"I'll give you the win on this one. Just because that fall you took."
Wednesday nods
"I respect it, but next time be ready."
Bianca nods as she goes into a different direction.
"Whatever you say, Addams…"
Later in the day, Wednesday passes Principal Fairbanks and he talks to her
"Afternoon, Wednesday. I heard of your vision in Fencing. Everything alright?"
She nods
"It happens from time to time. I have been through worse."
He chuckles
"I'm sure you have. You take it easy, Addams."
Wednesday arrives in Herbology again and takes a seat, she looks to her right. No Xavier. Now she's suspicious. She takes out her phone and texts him
Wednesday-
Hey, I have not seen you around since last night. I want answers. Soon.
She puts her phone away as she hears a voice
"Want an in person answer?"
Xavier sits down. Wednesday looks at him
"The question still stands. You have been strangely absent today…"
He looks kinda offended
"What? Am I not allowed to have a social life outside of you? I thought you wanted it that way?"
She looks like she made a mistake
"It's just that things have been happening more now. More messages, more visions. More suspects."
He exhales a bit angered
"Alright. I see that. And let me guess… I'm at the top of your list again!?"
She backs down a bit.
"Xavier I… I didn't mean it that way… forgive my overstep."
He sighs
"Okay… I'll have you know I was actually talking with some girl in my 3D art class. We actually made plans for a date next week."
Wednesday looks strangely taken back by the revelation
"That sounds… good for you. I suppose."
He's confused
"What? Aren't you happy? You don't gotta worry about me and you being awkward anymore. I thought you'd like that news?"
She breaths
"I don't know what to think right now. A lot has come up today. And if I came out harsh, it was not meant that way. I shouldn't have sent that text."
He nods, not fully believing her
"Whatever… we should just get going on our assignments."
She goes to text Enid
Wednesday-
Me and you need to speak later.
Enid-
Oh yeah? Everything OK?
Wednesday-
Yes.
After school, Wednesday and Enid meet in their dorm room. Enid is pacing
"Okay… so why did you even text him? If you are just friends and you don't want to be together?"
Wednesday is at her Typewriter
"He was the only person who I haven't seen today until Herbology. My inner detective got into my head I suppose."
She looks at Wednesday
"There are more students outside of us and the Nightshades. You know that right?"
She looks annoyed
"I am not stupid Enid. Obviously I have considered that."
Enid stops pacing
"I heard about him and Jenna Thompson getting together. Not… exactly what I had in mind though. She's another psychic. What do you think?"
She looks confused
"Why should I have anything to think about it?"
Enid smiles a bit
"Because he's your friend? A friend who used to have a super crush on you? That doesn't change anything?"
She nods no
"The only thing it changes is that he has someone else to gawk at."
Enid giggles
"You're gonna miss it. Just you wait…"
She sighs and shakes her head when a knock is heard at the door. Enid answers it
"Hi Xavier! We were just talking about you. What's up?"
He looks at Wednesday
"I wanna talk with her."
She looks worried
"Wait... you came alone?"
He's confused
"Yeah? Why? It's just across the campus?"
Wednesday talks to him
"He wasn't there, remember?"
She cringes
"Right... anyway we should have a buddy system with this weirdo stalking Wednesday."
He nods
"I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I'll bring Ajax next time.
Enid let's him in
"Look Wednesday… I just wanna say… I'm sorry for blowing up earlier. It's just that I thought you'd be happy with me moving on."
She nods
"That is fine. I actually commend you for standing up for yourself…."
Ding
Wednesday gets a text again… the stalker
Stalker-
Number 1…
He sends a photo of Trevor on the roof at Xavier's apartment. The three look at it. Xavier looks alarmed
"What the f*ck!? That's my room!"
Enid looks worried
"Why's he watching Trevor?"
Another text is sent…. It's of the same roof, but no Trevor. Wednesday looks
"Where is he?"
Outside they hear sirens towards Xavier's dorm hall. He looks out the window
"Oh shit… come on."
They run out the door as the scene ends

2023.06.08 01:16 Comfortable-Phase-10 Tesla Mobile Service Feedback

Tesla Mobile Service Feedback
I know some of y’all like to hear how Tesla’s mobile service performed I wanted to share some feedback. Some background: I live in DFW. Picked up car on March 2023, no issues during delivery. However after some time I started to notice the center console sliding door kept getting stuck halfway. I put in a request to mobile service. They had a quick TAT, appointment within 2 days, unfortunately something came up and I had to cancel less than 24 hours. I was ready to get around the $100 cancellation fee but to my delight they said “no problem, we will come tomorrow instead.” Forward to today, they came were super professional and replaced the entire center console even though they stayed no major issues were there but wanted to make sure my concerns were addressed.
Overall I am super pleased. The whole service took 30 minutes. Oh and they also checked my tires and asked if I needed anything else.

2023.06.08 01:14 TurboTenant [Landlord Experience - US - CO]- Screening International Tenants (Blog)

Housing is a human need - so why limit your tenant pool to the United States? Most landlords do this simply because they don’t know how to screen someone without a social security number (SSN). This article outlines what you need to know to screen international tenants, including what to evaluate when you can’t pull a background check.

Before Screening Tenants Without SSNs

As Benjamin Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” In this context, that means you need to hone your tenant screening process before opening the applicant floodgates. Don’t risk making avoidable fair housing mistakes that can cost up to $16,000 for your first offense - no matter how good your intentions are. If your first reaction is to say that you’ll sidestep any trouble by denying applications from international leads, grab your wallet. Such a move would violate the Fair Housing Act.
That’s why you need to:
  1. Learn about the Fair Housing Act. Under this law, landlords cannot discriminate against tenants based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability. This means that you cannot refuse to rent to an international tenant simply because they are not a U.S. citizen.
  2. Gather the same information from all applicants, regardless of their country of origin. Get the same information from international leads as you would request from any other applicant, such as their name, address, phone number, employment history, income, and references.
  3. Consider cultural differences. When interacting with people from different backgrounds, it’s critical to be mindful of cultural differences. There are varying standards for what constitutes a good credit score and a criminal background. Also, the Fair Housing Act protects non-English speakers against discrimination. “Having a limited ability to speak English should never be a reason to be denied a home,” said Gustavo Velasquez, assistant secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity at HUD. “Every family that calls this nation home has the same rights when it comes to renting or buying a home, regardless of where they come from or language they speak.”
  4. Brush up on U.S. laws and customs. International leads will likely have questions about your rental property, the process of renting it, and U.S. laws and customs. You don’t have to become a lawyer, but being able to answer their questions clearly will go a long way.

Screening International Tenants: What to Evaluate

Just because someone doesn’t have a social security number doesn’t mean you can’t make sure they’ll be a good fit for your rental unit. To learn more about any prospective tenant without an SSN, we recommend that you require:
  1. A copy of their passport and visa (as applicable). These documents will verify the lead’s identity.
  2. A letter of reference from their previous landlord. Validate their rental history and assess their track record as a tenant with a note from their last landlord.
  3. A letter from the lead’s employer verifying their income. Feel more confident about your prospective tenant’s ability to pay rent with this document.
  4. Two months of pay stubs. If your lead is employed in the U.S., they should be able to provide this information.
  5. A credit reference letter. This letter should detail a financial relationship the lead had with an individual or business to illustrate their trustworthiness and ability to make payments on time. Asset documentation or a letter of financier support would suffice!
  6. A monthly billing statement. Something like a phone bill or utility statement can reveal the lead’s ability to make on-time payments.

Accepting or Denying International Leads

Regardless of where your lead was born, they’re entitled to protections under the Fair Housing Act - including protection against being denied housing simply because they weren’t born in the United States. That said, you’re well within your rights to have specific tenant screening criteria that leads must meet to qualify for your rental unit.
Typically, tenants must meet specific income requirements, provide documentation to prove their ability to make payments on time, and interact cordially with those involved in the screening process. If an international lead doesn’t meet one or more of your screening requirements, you can deny their application just as you would any other prospective tenant.
It’s best to let the applicant know that they will not be moving forward in the process with a kind but vague message. For example, you could say, “Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately, we’ve decided not to move forward with your application.”
Pro Tip: If you run a credit report to evaluate a potential tenant and deny them, you must let them know that they have the right to request a copy of their file for free by contacting the consumer reporting agency that pulled the report.

What are your thoughts on screening international tenants?

2023.06.08 01:12 Aggressive_Lemon2807 Help me transition my familty to Starlink.

I'm sure posts like this are probably a meme for this subreddit and I'd gladly delete the post if some kind internet warrior could direct me to a similiar post.
Context; family of 5 rural southern ontario canada, heavy tech usage (i.e. generally 5 devices streaming 2/3 devices gaming etc).
I woke this morning on my day off and was unable to stream 480p video from youtube alone in our home. Our current ISP is Bell and we are connected to fibre lines with a plan that should offer 5-10Mbps speed but a quick speedtest this morning resulted in a ghastly .86Mbps. We have issues with internet regularly and have never been able to resolve the slow speeds, the household has certain rules concerning when to download larger files or not using streaming apps on phones while multitasking. The difference between the cost offered by Starlink just for regular coverage is around 20$ more a month than what we are currently paying. We also get phone and satellite for a lower price but all have cell phones and pretty well only use satellite when the internet isn't working.
I don't really live at home anymore and instead enjoy extended visits while I'm away from school and it just hurts my head seeing our current ISP practically swindling my parents monthly. They've sent technicians out or have tried sending new hardware and it's just never stuck, we might get a week or so of good internet before being back to the submitting support tickets. The largest setback I could find concerning Starlink is its price but there is currently a sale on the hardware in my region and when one cuts out the phone and satellite plans would probably save my family money.
I've brought it up before to my parents but they seem rather set in sticking with the provider we've had for decades which I understand, I just feel with a small amount of proof or a few stories combined with my offer to pay the hardware bill and at least get them to try the trial. I'm hoping it would end the number of fights over downloads or inability to attend online classes and I appreciate anything anyone can offer.

"Some coffee mugs can be priceless, like the one of mine you broke last year? Divina gave me that one…"

"Right… I swear that wasp was glaring at me. So I swatted it"
Ajax starts talking again
"Anyway, I'm kinda showing him around here. Thought I'd bring him up to me and X's room later."
They walk off and Enid notices Wednesday's judgmental look
"Why so judgy? He seems nice."
Wednesday Stands up
"Everyone is a suspect… that stalker is out there somewhere…"
Yoko drinks more
"But Ajax said he was a newbie. How could it be him?"
Enid notices her all packed up
"Uhm… where are you going?"
Wednesday reluctantly answers
"Jericho… I have a few missions to do."
Enid looks surprised
"Jericho!? Why? You don't wanna get evolved with normies again, right?"
Wednesday looks angered
"What I do on my own time is my decision. Come on Thing…"
Thing comes from messing with one if Enid's hats to Wednesday's bag
Just outside the gates to Nevermore, Wednesday hears someone calling her name
"Wednesday! Wait up.*
It's Eugene, he's got his backpack again
"What do you want, Eugene? I've got somewhere to be."
He straightens his glasses
"Where too? I don't want you out there alone Wednesday."
Wednesday stares at him and responds
"I wasn't the one who nearly died in the woods last semester… you need to stay here. I will be back later."
He frowns as she walks away
"But Hummers stick together…"
She sighs and rolls her eyes and turns around
"Fine… you may come along. But you follow my lead, and listen to me, got it?"
He smiles and runs up next to her
"Thank you Wednesday. So, where are we going?"
"Jericho."
Wednesday and Eugene are seen walking to Jericho as she monologue
"Returning to Jericho brings back some strange feelings. Perhaps Enid is right, I shouldn't get involved with anyone here. But there are some shady things going on at Nevermore. And I may need help"
She walks in the town and is filled with a dreadful feeling. Especially when she goes to the entrance of a familiar restaurant, The Weathervane. Eugene notices
"You ok? You look… scared?"
She groans
"I am not… scared… it's just strange, Ok. I… I had my first kiss here. And it hasn't sat right with me ever since. It's the moment where I went from feeling victorious… to feeling like I was a failure as a detective."
Eugene puts a hand on her shoulder
"You're not a failure, you're a hero."
She scoffs
"Please… don't call me that. Heroes are boring. I prefer the ones stuck in the middle."
Eugene giggles as they open the door. She walks inside and at the counter is no longer a tall, curly haired two faced monster. Just a normal Barista. She looks at Wednesday when she gets to the counter
"Hello young lady, can I get you anything?"
She nods
"I will take my usual."
The Barista looks confused
"You're a reg? I don't seem to remember you?"
Wednesday sighs
"We are Nevermore Students. School has been out of session for several weeks. But since this place has clearly no respect for its patrons, I will take a Quad Over Ice… "
She punches in the order
"And you, young man?"
He smiles
"A hot chocolate, please."
She punches in his
"Names?"
Eugene goes first
"Eugene."
"Addams. Wednesday Addams."
She looks surprised
"W-w-wednesday Addams? As in the Wednesday who stopped that monster on the loose who was also our former barista?"
Wednesday shrugs
"That is my name…"
The Barista smiles
"Then for your Valor, you may drink free here whenever you'd like. On the house."
Wednesday nods okay, and takes a seat with Eugene at a booth. Soon, a familiar person walks inside.
"Addams…"
*Wednesday turns to look, it's Lucas Walker."
"Lucas…"
Eugene seems happy
"Hey Lucas."
Lucas waves and talks to Wednesday.
"Look, I want to thank you Wednesday."
She's confused
"Thank me?"
He nods
"For putting the woman who killed my father behind bars."
She nods, understanding
"I see. I don't usually say this about everyone, but your father was a good man. He deserved a better fate."
Eugene interjects
"She means she's sorry…"
She eyes him
"Well, thank you. Guess I'll be seeing you around for the Nevermore Reopening Event next week?"
She's confused
"What event?"
He continues
"At the park next week. The mayor is planning a party of sorts for the returning students. Oh and uh… sorry about Tyler."
Now she looks upset
"Don't… let's just not talk about him. I know you two used to be friends. But after last semester… things are different."
Lucas goes up to the counter as Eugene talks to Wednesday.
"So, what else are we doing here besides getting drinks?"
She clarifies
"I need to talk to someone."
The scene then cuts to The Police Station. Eugene is now confused
"The police station?"
She nods
"I need to ask some questions. My stalker for one. Perhaps they can help me piece things together."
Eugene nods
"Makes sense. Let's go!"
She Grabs his shoulder
"Wait… you wait at the bench outside. I need to talk alone. Okay?"
He sulks
"Okay…"
She walks inside and the lady at the desk sees her
"Hello Miss. Can I help…"
She's interrupted by someone else
"Addams?"
Sheriff Galpin exits his office and has his normal stern look
"Sheriff Galpin…"
He walks slowly towards her
"What do you want, kid? You aren't causing trouble again, are you?"
She maintains her current facial expression
"That depends on what you mean about trouble. Anyway, I have come here to talk…"
He begrudgingly agrees
"I see, come on inside."
They enter his office and sit. He starts the conversation
"Okay… what have we now? Another monster. A zombie? What?"
She retorts
"I can tell you're mocking me. I too like to poke at people…"
He taps his desk
"Well… what do you got?"
She pulls out her phone
"Before I left Nevermore last semester… I started getting these pictures sent to me saying to watch out. Threats. I think it's a stalker."
Galpin looks at the pictures. The ones of her and Xavier. Her and Enid's room. And the one that strikes him the most, one of his son
"One of these is of… my son. That I can tell you is not him. He's still at the rehabilitation center for monsters."
She starts to talk
"That I know… Is he still turning into the Hyde?"
Galpin glares
"That is none of your concern. What matters is he ain't here."
She nods
"I understand. So, what do you recommend I do?"
He looks at his paperwork
"I can file a report to look out for suspicious activity online in the area. But it isn't a guaranteed method."
She nods okay
"It is a start I suppose. And… about… Tyler. I… I'm s… ss… sorry about him getting taken away."
He sighs and looks sad
"Appreciate it… and please don't mention him. It has been… difficult to say the least."
Wednesday Stands up
"Alright then. I should get going. Appreciate the help."
He retorts
"Don't get involved with any police business this time… I mean it this time."
She walks out the door
"I don't believe that helped much, Thing."
He signs that it's better than nothing. She feels a vibration in her pocket
"What now…"
She looks at her phone, it's her stalker
Stalker-
You think the cops can save you?
They send a picture of Eugene on the bench
"Shit… Eugene!"
She runs outside and he's just poking at bees on the bushes
"Eugene!?'
He looks at her
"What!? Everything okay!?"
She calms down
"Yes… it's nothing… I suppose."
He looks concerned
"Are you sure? You never get scared?"
She's insulted
"Scared? No, I was just… seeing if you were alright. Look at this."
He looks at the photo, he seems startled too
"Whoa… that's me! But… who is it? There's nobody here…"
She shoves it in her pocket
"That's what always happens. He or she just sends a picture and shows no signs of their occurrence. So far Me, you, Xavier, Enid… and even Tyler have been in the photos."
He walks with her
"So does that mean it's someone else?"
She nods no
"Possibly, but that doesn't mean there aren't multiple. Like Tyler and Thornhill."
He seems disappointed
"You think I'm involved?"
She keeps walking
"Not necessarily… I want to believe you, and Enid and Xavier. But I trusted and distrusted the wrong people last time. I don't want to rule anyone out."
He understands
"We should get back to Nevermore. Classes start in a half hour."
The two make it back. Wednesday arrives at Fencing class. She zips up her suit and walks to Kent
"Is Xavier late? He should be here."
He nods no
"Xavier didn't take fencing this time. He took another art class instead."
Divina interjects
"I think he's just afraid to lose to you."
The twins giggle
"That he should be. As should the two of you…"
Bianca walks out with her mask at her hip
"Wednesday Addams…"
She glances
"Bianca Barclay…"
She stands next to Wednesday
"Ready to be bested again? By the superior duelist?"
Wednesday seems confident
"Only if you are ready to be beaten quicker."
Ajax looks at them
"You two really gotta chill… there's more to this than beating each other."
Bianca looks at him
"It's just pre-game banter, Ajax. It isn't serious."
Wednesday interrupts
"I never said that…"
Everyone gives her their usually worried look as the coach speaks
"First round… Ajax against Trevor!"
The two Stoners look at each other and Mask up as the coach talks more
"En Garde…"
They take their stances. Enid looks happy
"You got this Ajax!"
He winks at her as he and Trevor touch blades and they start dueling. It's quite even until they pick up the pace as Trevor scores a hit on Ajax's lower arm
"Point to Trevor!"
Some of them applaud while Enid frowns. Ajax recuperates
"Ah… damn. Nice hit."
They form up again
"En garde…"
They mask up again and start to duel they're in a lock when Trevor takes Ajax by surprise as he strikes his knee
"Game… Trevor."
Ajax and Trevor shake hands and return to the stands. Yoko elbows Enid lightly to get her attention
"Your man needs some practice…"
Enid sticks her tongue out at her, annoyed. Ajax stands next to her
"Don't sweat it babe, we all have our bad days."
A few matches go bye. Yoko against Kent, Divina against Enid. And more. Finally Wednesday and Bianca are up. Bianca speaks up
"Finally some real players are up."
Some of the others scoff at her banter as They square up. Wednesday talks
"Do not get overconfident. I prefer a good even match."
Bianca gives her a playful cocktail grin
"We'll see Addams…"
They step back
"En garde…"
They mask up and immediately they start to strike and do spins and ducks. Wednesday doing side flips and the like. Bianca gets the upper hand and swings at Wednesday's arm.
"Point… Bianca!"
The others applaud at their match. Enid whistles
"That was amazing! You got the next round Wednesday!'
Wednesday gives her a confirming nod as they square up again. The Coach speaks
"En garde…"
They start dueling again, Wednesday does a flip over Bianca and swings behind her, disarming Bianca and promptly pokes her chest
The others Roar with applause as Bianca smiles
"Point… Wednesday"
"That was some good shit right there… let's see what you got on round three…"
They get ready once more
"En garde!"
They start dueling and as Wednesday clashes with Bianca her head jerks back and she falls hard. Bianca looks concerned
"Wednesday? You okay!?"
Enid and Thing run up
"She's having a vision, shit… now what…"
Wednesday is seeing a vision again. In its, she sees Bianca getting clonked from behind and knocked out. She wakes up out of breath. Trevor is confused
"What… what happened?"
Ajax explains
"Wednesday is a psychic… She has random visions of the future sometimes. It's some creepy shit dude."
Enid is at her side
"Hey? You okay? What'd you see?"
She holds her head and sits up, as she points at Bianca
"Me?"
She nods as she stands up
"You were knocked out… hit from behind by something…"
She looks at Divina worried
"Where?"
She tries to recollect
"It was hard to tell… but it was night time…"
Divina thinks of something
"I'd say we implement a buddy system?"
Wednesday looks confused
"What is that?"
She continues
"Nobody should travel anywhere alone. If you go somewhere… especially at night… have a buddy with you."
Enid nods
"That could work… why can't we just have a normal school year?"
Wednesday gestures to Thing
"Fortunately, I always have someone with me."
Kent looks at him
"But he's just a hand?"
Wednesday looks at him
"A hand that knocked you out, remember?"
He crossed his arms and pouts
"Don't wanna talk about that…"
Divina rolls her eyes
"Oh get over it…"
Enid checks the time
"Shit… it's 11:27. We gotta be at next class in 3 minutes. We should get going."
Bianca pats Wednesday's shoulder
"Good game Wednesday, you earned that one."
Wednesday is confused
"What? I didn't beat you?"
Bianca smiles
"I'll give you the win on this one. Just because that fall you took."
Wednesday nods
"I respect it, but next time be ready."
Bianca nods as she goes into a different direction.
"Whatever you say, Addams…"
Later in the day, Wednesday passes Principal Fairbanks and he talks to her
"Afternoon, Wednesday. I heard of your vision in Fencing. Everything alright?"
She nods
"It happens from time to time. I have been through worse."
He chuckles
"I'm sure you have. You take it easy, Addams."
Wednesday arrives in Herbology again and takes a seat, she looks to her right. No Xavier. Now she's suspicious. She takes out her phone and texts him
Wednesday-
Hey, I have not seen you around since last night. I want answers. Soon.
She puts her phone away as she hears a voice
"Want an in person answer?"
Xavier sits down. Wednesday looks at him
"The question still stands. You have been strangely absent today…"
He looks kinda offended
"What? Am I not allowed to have a social life outside of you? I thought you wanted it that way?"
She looks like she made a mistake
"It's just that things have been happening more now. More messages, more visions. More suspects."
He exhales a bit angered
"Alright. I see that. And let me guess… I'm at the top of your list again!?"
She backs down a bit.
"Xavier I… I didn't mean it that way… forgive my overstep."
He sighs
"Okay… I'll have you know I was actually talking with some girl in my 3D art class. We actually made plans for a date next week."
Wednesday looks strangely taken back by the revelation
"That sounds… good for you. I suppose."
He's confused
"What? Aren't you happy? You don't gotta worry about me and you being awkward anymore. I thought you'd like that news?"
She breaths
"I don't know what to think right now. A lot has come up today. And if I came out harsh, it was not meant that way. I shouldn't have sent that text."
He nods, not fully believing her
"Whatever… we should just get going on our assignments."
She goes to text Enid
Wednesday-
Me and you need to speak later.
Enid-
Oh yeah? Everything OK?
Wednesday-
Yes.
After school, Wednesday and Enid meet in their dorm room. Enid is pacing
"Okay… so why did you even text him? If you are just friends and you don't want to be together?"
Wednesday is at her Typewriter
"He was the only person who I haven't seen today until Herbology. My inner detective got into my head I suppose."
She looks at Wednesday
"There are more students outside of us and the Nightshades. You know that right?"
She looks annoyed
"I am not stupid Enid. Obviously I have considered that."
Enid stops pacing
"I heard about him and Jenna Thompson getting together. Not… exactly what I had in mind though. She's another psychic. What do you think?"
She looks confused
"Why should I have anything to think about it?"
Enid smiles a bit
"Because he's your friend? A friend who used to have a super crush on you? That doesn't change anything?"
She nods no
"The only thing it changes is that he has someone else to gawk at."
Enid giggles
"You're gonna miss it. Just you wait…"
She sighs and shakes her head when a knock is heard at the door. Enid answers it
"Hi Xavier! We were just talking about you. What's up?"
He looks at Wednesday
"I wanna talk with her."
She looks worried
"Wait... you came alone?"
He's confused
"Yeah? Why? It's just across the campus?"
Wednesday talks to him
"He wasn't there, remember?"
She cringes
"Right... anyway we should have a buddy system with this weirdo stalking Wednesday."
He nods
"I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I'll bring Ajax next time.
Enid let's him in
"Look Wednesday… I just wanna say… I'm sorry for blowing up earlier. It's just that I thought you'd be happy with me moving on."
She nods
"That is fine. I actually commend you for standing up for yourself…."
Ding
Wednesday gets a text again… the stalker
Stalker-
Number 1…
He sends a photo of Trevor on the roof at Xavier's apartment. The three look at it. Xavier looks alarmed
"What the f*ck!? That's my room!"
Enid looks worried
"Why's he watching Trevor?"
Another text is sent…. It's of the same roof, but no Trevor. Wednesday looks
"Where is he?"
Outside they hear sirens towards Xavier's dorm hall. He looks out the window
"Oh shit… come on."
They run out the door as the scene ends

PART 2:

ANNETTE CRAVER:

Born on the 7th of December 1965, Annette Craver was intelligent and creative. At 15 she was a singer-songwriter and in her senior year at a private school that specialized in medicine. Her dream was to become a midwife.
http://charleyproject.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/vail_annette6.jpg(A photo of Annette Craver.)
In the summer of 1981, she and her mother, Mary Rose greeted people at a friend’s yard sale in the Montrose neighborhood in Houston, Texas. They had just returned from a vacation in Mexico, and Annette felt heartsick, still infatuated with a boy named Adolfo, who was unable to join her in America.
VAIL MEETS ANNETTE
While people browsed the sale, Vail pulled up on a motorcycle and spoke with Annette. He was 41 and had done some carpentry work in the area. “When I saw her, I thought, ‘That’s going to be my new girlfriend,’” he said about the 15-year-old.
In April 1982, Rose and her daughter invested in a Tulsa home that had a rental cottage behind it. Rose began renovating both. After graduating from high school, Annette joined her mother in Tulsa. Vail appeared a few days later, and convinced Annette to leave with him on his motorcycle. They lived off the $500-a-month Social Security check that she received from her father’s death 3 years prior. It would be over a year before Mary Rose would see her daughter again.
That fall, Annette (who was still 15) would fall pregnant, and Vail would force her to have a painful abortion.
Jerry Woodall, reportedly friends with Vail later recalled an embarrassing scene, where the 42-year-old Vail was in a sleeping bag, having public sex with a 16-year-old Annette, only 20 feet away from him and his then-wife Meredith McMackin. Annette grinned and waved at them. Woodall and McMackin did their best to ignore them.
McMackin would later say that Vail had “this coldness and controlling aspect to his personality. Annette was so open and alive, but I think he just totally dominated her. He would try to convey that he was this higher form of being. At first, I thought maybe he was evolved, but then I realized it was this arrogant act.”
Later that summer, police in California would arrest Vail for violating probation a dozen years earlier. Annette telephoned Woodall, who gave her $200. After Vail walked free from prison, he and Annette decided to get married. However, as a 17-year-old she needed permission.
Annette told her mother that she loved Vail, that they were already “spiritually married” and that they would travel to Mexico and get married there if she refused. Not wanting to lose her daughter completely, Rose said OK.
On August 15th, 1983, in Bakersfield, California, the couple were wed.
AFTER THE MARRIAGE
Four months after the marriage, Annette turned 18, allowing her to collect more than $98,000 ($293,500 today) from life insurance policies on her late father. Accompanied by Vail, she withdrew all the money in cash from a San Antonio bank. She bought a Fiat convertible that Vail liked and paid for his dental work.
In April 1984, Rose returned home to find Annette waiting at her door. She told her she wanted to divorce Vail, and enroll in college. She talked about Vail’s temper, including an incident where he had broken his hand trying to punch his wife. He missed and hit a wall.
A few weeks later, Vail showed up. The couple fought constantly, and Vail left after a few days. Mary Rose said that Vail was “insanely jealous” and would become furious when Annette spoke of her desire to go out with younger men.
She and Annette worked on renovating the two homes after Vail left, enjoying their time together. The 2 even started a garden together.
Annette received a letter from Vail, who vowed their time apart would fuel their love. He wrote to her: “After we hung up, I went out to a park and ran and hung and talked with God and smoked some and shot some pool and rode with the top down out through the marsh playing ‘Iron Butterfly’ [“In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”] and bathing every inch of your body-spirit being with love.”
He referred to being away from Annette as “deprivation jail” and to her ego as “his jailor.”
“The idea of her cutting away ego’s “feeder roots and creating roots between your spirit and the cosmic ground of loving makes me hot for you. My mind is kissing you everywhere.”
After that, Vail would return to Annette’s life. Rose said, “Annette told me, ‘Felix is the wisest person in the world, and I can’t make decisions without him.’” His influence on Annette had only grown stronger. According to Rose, she even compared Vail to God, a comparison Vail agreed with.
After this, the couple angrily insisted that Rose move out and deed the house to Annette. Accompanied by suicidal thoughts brought on by Vail’s continued control over her daughter, Rose left for California to stay with family and friends, deeding the house to Annette for $7000 ($21,000 today) before she did.
Annette would add Vail to the deed, and a month later had deeded him both homes, leaving him as the sole owner.
ANNETTE’S DISAPPEARANCE
Mere weeks after deeding the houses to Vail, the couple told neighbors they were leaving on vacation. When Vail returned in October, he was alone.
Vail told a neighbor that Annette had a lot of money wither her when he’d left her, and that she was likely visiting friends in Denver.
Upon learning that Annette hadn’t come back with Vail, Mary Rose called him. “He told me that while they were camping, Annette had a sexual dream about being with other men in Mexico, and she wanted to go there,” she recalled to an investigative reporter years later. “He claimed that the dream made them both realize that she should have her freedom.” The next day, Vail told her he had put Annette on a bus with $50,000 ($150,000 today) but didn't elaborate.
On Oct 22, 1984, Rose filed a missing person’s report. She told the Tulsa Police Department that each person who spoke with Vail “gets a different story about the amount of money that Annette took with her and where she might be. We all believe that he knows where she is or has done something with her.”
On January 22, 1985, Detective Dennis Davis and another officer questioned Vail at his home (This is obscenely late to start questioning him). By this point, Vail had filed for divorce, citing an inability to find her after a “diligent search.” Davis said her mother, Mary Rose, mentioned her daughter had received more than $90,000 from her father’s estate. Vail confirmed this was true, saying the couple had spent much of that money traveling in foreign countries. He said they kept their money in cash because they didn’t trust banks and that he had found about $10,000 in cash when he returned home.
The next day, Vail called a lawyer, who promised to talk with the officers and tell them to “leave me alone,” as he wrote in his journal.
When Davis returned five days later, Vail had a detailed alibi: The couple left Tulsa between noon and 3 p.m. on Sept. 13, 1984, and stayed the night in a hotel in Claremont, Oklahoma. After two nights of camping on the river, Annette woke up and told Vail she had decided to leave him. He took her to the Trailways Bus Station in St. Louis and left before she bought the ticket. (There is no Trailways Bus Station in St. Louis, and there has never been a Trailways Bus Station in St. Louis.)
He told the officers that she had told him she was headed for Denver, where she planned to get a fake ID card and leave for Mexico. When asked if he would take a lie detector test, Vail said no.
After Davis left, he wrote a letter to Rose. He blamed her for the “bad things” about Annette, told her that after the couple had returned from Costa Rica Annette had been “seeing friends and relatives --- completing her relationships with them for the purpose of getting ready to drop everybody and start over.” He wrote that Annette “disappeared herself from you” because Rose kept imposing her “value system” on her, and said Annette viewed her mother, grandmother, and herself as “zero self-image whores for approval.”
He explained the 2 had no plans to communicate, he did not know where she was, and that “I also assure you that even if I did know, I would not tell you.”
When Rose returned to Tulsa in April 1985, she entered the cottage Annette used to live in, only to find almost all the young woman’s belongings were gone, including her clothes and her diary.
Inside a Barbie suitcase, Rose found a photograph of her daughter and several of her identification cards. She also located things that Annette had written, including a Feb. 17, 1984, note that contradicted Vail’s claim that the couple had spent most of her inheritance on their travel to Mexico and Central American countries.
Instead, the note detailed how they used the money to buy the Fiat, pay off all of Vail’s loans, and deposit $36,000 into Louisiana Savings. It said that as of that day, they had $41,600 ($125,000 today) in cash.
Rose shared the information with the police. Detective Davis showed up again, and Vail told Davis the couple divided the money into smaller cashier’s checks, contradicting his earlier statement that they kept the money in cash.
After a while, Davis left, and despite the (seemingly obvious) suspicious behavior of Vail, closed the missing person’s case.
AFTER ANNETTE’S DISAPPEARANCE
Rose kept calling Vail after this and was finally able to reach him on September 14th 1985.
When asked about Annette’s whereabouts he refused to tell her.
When asked about Annette’s missing clothes he said he gave them to charity.
When asked about the insurance money, Vail told her ‘That’s all she really cared about.’ Rose hung up.
Two years later, fed up with the lack of progress in Annette’s case, Rose would return to Tulsa. She spent thousands of dollars on private investigators to locate Vail. When that failed, she simply went and found him herself.
Tipped off that he was staying at someone’s house, she went there with a friend and found him sitting outside. When asked where Annette went, he replied “Mexico.” When asked where in Mexico, he said the 2 had made a pact to contact each other every 5 years, contradicting his statement that the 2 didn’t have plans to communicate. Rose didn’t believe a word of it.
The whole time Vail never looked up, never stood up and never looked her in the eye.
BETH FIELD
Some time after this, Vail began dating Beth Field. Soon the couple had began arguing, and Vail would call her a “whore.” During a December 1987 argument, he would strike her so hard he ruptured her ear drum. She told Vail there was no justification for violence, to which he responded, “If you quit behaving like a whore, I’ll quit hitting you.”
In August 1988 Beth received a call from Rose, sharing details about the disappearance of her daughter, Annette. From that point forward, Field said she began to examine Vail’s words more closely, realizing that he had likely murdered her.
Four months after the call, he entered her home unannounced. Already drunk, he accused her of “imagined promiscuity,” according to a court order. He slapped her, struck her, and threw her across the bedroom. She asked if Vail was going to kill her, to which Vail replied, “It depends on what you tell me.”
A judge gave her a protective order, requiring Vail to keep his distance. Two weeks later, the sheriff reported that Vail was nowhere to be found.
While Field was visiting a meditation center in Texas in 1990, Vail arrived. After composing herself, she told him “There is a part of you that goes off, and it’s sick and it’s dangerous.”
He looked at her and asked, “Really?” She said “yes, really.” This time, the message seemed to go through. Vail left the next day, and with a single exception about five years later, she never saw him again.
MARY ROSE LEARNS ABOUT THE OTHER 2 CASES
In the summer of 1991 (6 years after Annette's disappearance), Rose drove over 2000 miles to Canyon Lake, Texas to speak to Sue Jordan, Felix Vail’s sister. Jordan said that Vail had told her that Annette wanted to leave, that he took her to a bus station and that she left with some Mexican men, heading for Mexico. Jordan also mentioned that Vail’s first wife had drowned, which was news to Rose.
Before she left, Jordan also told her, “Oh, you know, there was another woman that disappeared. I remember her mother calling my mother for years, checking to see if they’d heard from her. I think her name was Sharon.”
After the conversation, Rose sat down at a typewriter, writing every word she could remember. She also called the public library in Lake Charles.
The librarian remembered the 1962 drowning of Vail’s first wife, Mary Horton. She told Rose that he had taken out life insurance policies on his wife prior to her drowning and that the insurance companies were suspicious and didn’t pay the full value. The librarian made copies of newspaper articles and mailed them to her.
After reading them, Rose reached out to Mary’s family in Louisiana, speaking to Will Horton. He shared her suspicions about Vail and a copy of the 1971 National Enquirer article made after Vail's son Bill reported him to the police. When she read it, she learned that Sharon’s last name was Hensley.
In 1994, she read in the newspaper about Dolores Strehlow’s disappearance from Medford, Oregon, seven years earlier. Police had just arrested her husband, thanks to the work of Detective Terry Newell. She contacted Newell, who helped her find the family of Sharon Hensley. When Rose dialed the Hensley family, Sharon’s mother, Peggy, answered. Rose asked if Peggy knew a Felix Vail. Peggy replied with "you bet I do"
THE INVESTIGATION HEATS UP… AND COOLS DOWN
The detective who helped Rose before, Terry Newell, contacted Jim Bell, a national expert in serial killings working for the FBI. When Rose talked with Bell, she felt like she'd finally gotten somewhere. He was interested in working on the Vail case if he could swing the time. He still remained busy with active serial killer cases, helping train task forces across the U.S. Vail’s son, Bill, told Rose that he was willing to testify, as long as authorities provided protection to his family. Both the Tulsa police and the district attorney’s office in Lake Charles revived their investigations into Vail, now considered a suspected serial killer.
Bell suggested the victims’ families gather with authorities at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, to share information on Vail. He was unable to work on the case and left the FBI in 1995. The meeting in Quantico never materialized, and the cases involving Vail grew cold once again.
A QUICK RUN DOWN OF EVENTS
In the fall of 1997, family and friends held a mural for Annette.
Diagnosed with esophageal cancer, Vail’s son Bill heard from doctors that he didn’t have long to live. He’s quoted saying “now I’ll get to be with my mom.” Months before passing away in 2009, Bill talked about his father in a recorded interview with his pastor at Grace Church in Overland Park, Kansas.
On Jan. 3, 2009, Bill died, and Vail wrote in his journal, “I feel a large empty hole in my being where his life presence has been for 47 years,” before writing about getting a good haircut. He drove to Kansas but didn’t attend his own son’s funeral. If he had, he would have heard the recording, with his son detailing how he had overheard his father talk about murdering Bill's mother, Mary.
When Vail learned of the recording, he wrote to Pastor Tim Howey, asking for a copy. He blamed his son’s statements on “false memories,” saying, “I have not known about it until now and am stunned.”
In 2012, while attempting to confront Vail with reporter Jerry Mitchell whom she had contacted to write about Vial, Rose was stopped by Kaye Faulkner, Vial’s sister. She told Rose and Mitchell of the recording and urged Mitchell to get a copy of it. She also said that she believed Vial had murdered Mary Horton, Sharon Hensley, and Annette Craver.
She gave the reporter Vial’s number, as well as the numbers of her other brother, Ronnie, and her sister, Beth. Vial didn’t answer those calls, so Mitchell left a message. Ronnie promised to speak to his brother on his behalf.
MITCHELL INVESTIGATES
Mitchell arrived in Lake Charles and stopped by the Southwestern Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Library, which shared copies from old city directories. He began tracking down people who had lived in the Maree Apartments with Felix and Mary.
Many described Mary’s fair of drowning. A close friend of Vails, Judson McCann II described Vial as a ladies’ man, and insinuated he was a cheater. “Many nights, his car wouldn’t be home, and Mary would be there with the lights on. When Felix was gone, it wasn’t because he was trotline fishing.”
Another close friend, Bob Hodges described Vial’s story of Mary ‘falling’ in the river as “horse manure.”
A college roommate of Mary, Sandra Sudduth Pratt, said “Nobody believed it was an accident.”
Mitchell shared Mary’s autopsy report with pathologist Dr. Michael Baden of New York City, who concluded that foul play had taken place in her death.
The report showed large bruises with bleeding into tissues on the left side of the neck, which he said suggested she suffered forceful neck trauma before entering the water. There were hemorrhagic bruises to the right calf and left leg above the knee, which he said were consistent with a struggle before her submersion. But most convincingly of all was the scarf authorities found around her neck that extended 4 inches into her mouth, which suggested traumatic asphyxia before entering the water.
“Somebody had to push that scarf into her mouth. She had to have that scarf wedged in her mouth before she was put in the water.”
A cousin put Mary’s brother Will Horton in touch with former detective “Rabbit” Manuel, who had headed up the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Office’s investigation back in 1962. He had never forgotten Mary’s death. “Felix’s story just didn’t add up. The fishing tackle was dry. The trotline was dry. The boat was dry. Even Felix’s cigarettes were dry, despite him telling the deputies he dove straight in the water to save Mary.”
He and Manuel met with “Lucky” DeLouche, who directed an elite task force unit that investigated homicides. Three young detectives took notes as they talked. Manuel shared details from the case, saying deputies (officers) wanted to prosecute, but the district attorney wouldn’t let them. Horton shared the autopsy report, Vail’s letters and his belief that Vail was a serial killer. Horton said DeLouche replied, “This absolutely fits the profile of a serial killer,” to which the other detectives agreed.
Shortly afterwards, DeLouche left the task force, and for seemingly the hundredth time, grew cold again.
After Mitchell posted a story about Vail titled “Gone” (It’s nearly 9,000 words long, and the precursor to the 35,500 word story I have drawn heavily from) a man named Wesley Turnage contacted him. He told him of a conversation he had had with Vail in 1963 during a car ride.
According to Turnage, Vail called Mary a bitch and said she thought another child would help solve their marriage problems. He quoted Vail as saying, “She wanted to have another kid. I didn’t want the one I got. I fixed that sorry bitch. She will never have another one.”
Mitchell would make another discovery. District Attorney Salter Jr. had ordered that the judge dismiss 882 criminal cases — more than three cases for each working day.
Will Horton told Mitchell the original detectives in the case told him that Salter wouldn’t allow them to present the evidence they had collected against Vail. That matched the stories Mitchell had heard from grand jurors’ families.
Horton then contacted District Attorney John DeRosier, who said he would be willing to reopen the case if there was enough evidence.
Then came an interesting wrinkle in the story. Finding Vail.
He’d disappeared, returning on Labor Day weekend 2012 to sell his property, before disappearing again. Luckily, another reader of "Gone" came to the rescue. He phoned Mitchell, telling him where Vial was. Canyon Lake, Texas.
Mitchell then contacted Enzo Yaksic, founder of the Serial Homicide Expertise and Information Sharing Collaborative. Yaksic then contacted Armin Showalter, acting chief for the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, which specialized in serial homicide investigations.
Yaksic shared a copy of GONE with Showalter, who in turn called Calcasieu Parish Deputy Randy Curtis, now taking on the Vail case. Curtis phoned Mitchell to find out where Vail was. A few days later, he called back to say the FBI had discovered Vail purchased property at 737 Shadyview Drive in Canyon Lake.
On Jan. 18, 2013, Curtis decided to confront Vail. He found him at that address, living in a storage shed. Curtis said he read Vail his rights before asking him about the death and disappearances of the women. Vail refused to say anything, accusing families and The Clarion-Ledger (Where "Gone" was published) of lying about him. The whole time, Vail couldn’t stop smirking.

Will Horton gave Mitchell the number of his cousin, who was a caretaker for 90-year-old Isaac Abshire Jr. When Mitchell sat down with the man, he shared a haunting story.
Abshire had worked with Vail and offered him a room to rent out. Once Vail and Mary were married, Vail had moved out. Abshire viewed himself as “a big brother” to Mary, calling her “a sweet little girl.”
After the marriage, Vail had become angry at work, talking about how ugly his wife was when she was pregnant, and how he didn’t like his baby. On the Friday before she was killed, the couple visited Abshire, bringing Bill, who was still an infant. Mary privately asked Abshire if he thought Vail could take her baby away.
Two days later, Mary was dead.
Abshire and two other workers went out the next day to drag the river. The next morning, Oct. 30, 1962, he returned with one of them, Jimmy May, to continue dragging.
Abshire said while they were talking, “something popped up. A guy with binoculars asked, ‘Does she have blonde hair?’ I said, ‘Yes, that’s her.’”
They recovered the body, and Abshire could never forget what he saw. Her body was rigid, and a scarf was wrapped around her neck before going into her mouth. Blood boiled on the boat, everyone voicing the same opinion. Vail had killed Mary.
Abshire had kept photos from that day for over 50 years. He said he had given them to Deputy Curtis as well as a copy of the 1962 sheriff’s report, which listed 15 points suggesting Vail’s guilt.
Despite being behind on major bills, Vail had managed to pay an entire year’s premiums in advance for a $50,000 ($150,000 today) life insurance policy on his wife. He had a second life insurance policy on her for $8,000 ($24,000 today), which promised to pay double if she died by accident.
It was almost as if he knew she was about to die.
Deputies had reported witnesses claims that Vail had told them he didn’t love his wife, that she looked stupid and vulgar, and that he had had sexual relations with multiple women, and at least one man.
Vail told deputies that his wife was wearing an off-white leather jacket when she went into the water. But she wasn’t wearing the jacket when her body was recovered. Inside his boat, deputies found two life preservers. Mary had not been wearing one, despite her fear of drowning. As for the trotline the 2 were supposedly running, deputies found it still inside Vail’s tackle box.
Most witnesses the Deputies had spoken too felt that Vail was capable of killing his wife.
When asked if he believed Vail killed his wife, Abshire said “Oh, my God, yes.”
THE CHASE & THE FINAL CLUES:
Ever since Vail had sold his Mississippi property, Mary Rose had wondered if he would eventually sell the Tulsa property, the one she and Annette had lived in. He did. Vail sold it for $149,000. Rose asked the question on the mind of everyone investigating. “What is he going to do with all that money? --- He could be running.”
On April 30th Mitchell got a call saying that Vail had left Texas. He was pulled over by police in Columbus, Mississippi after hopping the fence of his now dead brother Ronnie’s property. Curtis told Mitchell that the Columbus police were sending him a photo of Vail and the white pick-up truck he was pulled over in. He once again warned Mitchell that Vail could be running.
Vail’s sister called again, saying she heard her brother was heading to Montpelier. She wondered if he was driving to the home of possible witness Wesley Turnage.
Mitchell called Turnage to let him know that Vail might be headed his way. Turnage replied “If he sets foot on my property, there won’t be no trial.” He called Mitchell back later, saying no one in Montpelier had seen Vail.
Private Investigator Gina Frenzel, who had questioned Vail herself, including pretending to be his girlfriend, called Mitchell with good news. Vail had contacted her and told her he was back in Canyon Lake. Mitchell informed Curtis.
On May 17th 2012, authorities arrested Felix Vail for the murder of his wife Mary Horton.
In telephone calls from the jail in Lake Charles, he shared his explanation of what happened the night of Oct. 28, 1962, when Mary died.
He referred to his first wife as a “coon-ass lady,” saying she was “half kneeling” on his feet when she “saw one of the float buckets that were on the line.” He said the boat was “going real slow along the edge of the bank when the boat hit a stump ... and it dumped her right out.” Vail said he shut off the motor and dove in “where she had plopped in the water. I mean, nothing. The river had sucked her right in.” He said he “dove around until I was exhausted, and came in immediately to the police station in town and reported the accident and that was it.”
This story differed greatly from his story in 1962 when he said his wife was sitting on top of a boat seat when she fell out, not that she was kneeling on his feet. Back then, he said nothing about hitting a stump — just swerving to miss it.
It also differed from the story he had told his son, where a wave from another boat had dumped Mary out.
Vail told Frenzel that the case “has been an avalanche coming down the mountain all that time, waiting to hit my head, and it finally has.”
He blamed the families and Mitchell, “an evil, shrimpy reporter,” for what had happened, calling the charges “fabricated” and insisting that “a large amount of money, hate and political ambitions are behind them.”
At Vail’s request, Frenzel returned his truck to his home and went inside to take care of a few tasks. While there, she spent 16 hours photographing all his journals, more than 2,400 pages. She also photographed letters, documents, photographs and business cards, some dating back to the 1960s. She found a collection of women’s jewelry, old buttons, pins, and even a glass dildo.
Disturbingly, if at this point unsurprisingly, she found a photograph of a naked 3-year-old girl. Frenzel later spoke with the girl, now a woman. The journals revealed that Vail had stalked her for years.
Frenzel discovered the birth certificate of Annette Craver, who had used it for previous trips to Mexico.
Mitchell and Frenzel poured through the journals she had photographed. They noticed gaps in them that lead them to believe Vail had ripped pages out, including times when he should have been with Sharon and Annette.
His journals were dominated by sex, dreams of sex and reflected an obsession with children. In a March 27, 1986, entry, Vail wrote about the visit of a woman and her daughters in his home. “The little girls were delicious --- We massaged some, hugged & kissed some & it was 12 (midnight) & time for them to go.”
On Aug. 29, 1992, Vail walked into the Wal-Mart in West Point, and as he wrote in his journal “a 1-year-old white girl looked in my eyes loving me like there was no age difference between us.”
When Mitchell interviewed Kert Germany, a co-worker of Vail in 1977 he said that Vail attracted women wherever he went, and that Vail had told him the best sex of his life had been with 2- or 3-year-old girl.
It was that this time that Alexandra Christianson, Vail’s ex-wife called Mitchell and told him her story. She also put him in contact with Bruce Biedebach, the man she had been on a date with when she left with Vail. Biedebach would tell Mitchell that during a party in 1965 that turned into a “boast-fest” Vail had boasted about something he had done, that no one else had done.
Killed his wife.
He told the men at the party that he had held his wife’s head underwater until she drowned.
Biedebach then put Mitchell in contact with Rob Fremont, who had bicycled around California with Vail when he was 13. He said that while riding with Vail, he had told him that he hit his wife on the head and drowned her. Fremont never rode with him again after that.
With as much evidence as they could possibly gather, the case went to trial.
THE TRIAL:
Vail’s trial began on August 8th, 2016.
District Attorney John DeRosier laid out the evidence clearly.
He spoke of the evidence against Vail about Mary’s murder on October 28th, 1962.
He spoke about Vail swearing to Sharon Hensley’s mother that she wanted to start a new life in 1974.
He spoke about his letters to Mary Rose, telling her he wouldn’t tell her where her daughter Annette was “even if he knew.” Vail smirked at that one.
Finally, he spoke to the jurors.
“Mary Horton Vail is gone, Sharon Hensley is gone,” DeRosier said, “and Annette Craver Vail is gone.”
“You’re going to write the last chapter, and it’s simply going to read, ‘And justice was finally done. William Felix Vail, guilty as charged.’”
Prosecutors called all three families to testify.
Will Horton told jurors of his sister, “Mary was the kind of person you would want as a friend.” He broke while talking about visiting his nephew after he death in 1962. “I just wanted Bill to know how much his mother loved him.”
Brian Hensley told jurors that he last saw his sister, Sharon, with Vail before the pair left Bismarck, North Dakota, in 1972. Other than a telephone call and letter in the months that followed, he said no one had seen or heard from her since.
When Mary Rose took the stand, Vail bowed his head.
This was the woman who had been working for 32 long years to bring him into this court.
This was the mother who had waited 32 years for this moment.
She called Annette “a huge light in my life. We were always loving toward each other.” She testified that Vail ran off with her daughter on his motorcycle and married her. She testified that Annette, who inherited nearly $100,000 and received two homes, disappeared weeks after deeding those homes to Vail.
Wesley Turnage, Rob Fremont, and Bruce Biedebach swore under oath that Vail said he killed his first wife. Biedebach said he asked Vail if Mary was a bitch, to which Vail had said yes. Vail laughed in court as he told the story.
The current coroner, forensic pathologist Dr. Terry Welke, testified that in most drownings, the body comes up in a “dead person’s float,” with the back of the head surfacing first and the limbs hanging down in the water.
After sharing a series of pictures to show it, he showed the court two black-and-white photographs of Mary Horton when her body was recovered on Oct. 30, 1962, less than two days after she reportedly drowned. Her body was stiff, with her hands over chest as if she was in a coffin.
They also saw the videotaped testimony of Isaac Abshire Jr, who had died in 2014. He said her body was stiff when it surfaced either sideways or face up when she bobbed up in the Calcasieu River.
That testimony helped contribute to Welke’s homicide conclusion. So did the unbroken grease-like stain across her Chi Omega sweatshirt, which he believed could have come from a tarp covering her. Welke concluded Mary was dead and stiff before her body went into the water, explaining why rigor had set in.
Testimony was heard of Vail not paying for his own wife’s funeral, despite having made thousands from her life insurance.
THE VERDICT
The jury didn’t even take a half hour to reach their verdict.
William Felix Vail Sr was unanimously found guilty of murdering Mary Horton. He was sentenced to life in prison.
After the verdict, the prosecutor also revealed that the FBI had found out that Vail had molested a child over 30 years ago. They were unable to put him on trial for it, as the statue of limitations had passed.
Finally, nearly 54 years after she was murdered, Mary Horton had found justice.
Finally, 42 years after her disappearance, Sharon Hensley had found justice.
And Annette Craver, with the help of her mother Mary Rose’s tireless efforts, had finally found justice after 32 years.

2023.06.08 00:41 NectarineThat90 Property manager left a note…do I respond

Some of the cats I feed are living in this shopping center under a truck. I went to feed them and saw a note was left that said “please contact me regarding these cats. We need to save them” then left his phone number, but also left a business card showing he is a property manager. The business is a real estate agency and I found their website that shows they own the shopping center.
Should I contact him like he asked or is this a bad idea?

2023.06.08 00:11 CanOBeans01 PSA TO TRANS PEOPLE IN TENNESSEE

Let me know if this isn't allowed but SB 1440 just passed recently and this bill essentially makes it much more difficult than it already is for transgender people in Tennessee to change their name and legal gender marker. The Knoxville Pride Center has partnered with other pride organizations in the state and one or two lawyer firms to announce The Tennessee Name Change Project. You will not be charged for any fee or service, this is a community effort to help each other before these laws take into effect and hurt our futures. This is a last ditch effort.
You are going to go to inclusiontn.org/tnncp and fill out their name change form.
You will give them your legal name followed by the name you wish to change to, list your reason for wanting to change your name and gender marker on your ID, your address and if it's safe to send paperwork to the provided address.
I just got done filling it out myself so unfortunately I can't tell you how long it takes to hear back or what happens next but someone should contact you either by the phone number or email you provide.
if there's any other questions you can ask the knox pride center either on their Instagram or Facebook which is pretty easy to find.
If you also live in Tennessee, stay safe out there and I hope this can help you as much as I hope it will help me.

2023.06.08 00:10 Anonymous_NYC_2023 I was posted in AWDTSG NYC. I'm distraught.

I was posted Are We Dating The Same Guy NYC (or at least I'm 90% sure I was). I'm not doing well.
Background and Dating
I am new to the dating game after a recent divorce. Using Hinge and Bumble has always been a nice way to date casually and to build up my confidence again. I've been on dozens of wonderful dates and met lots of really great people. There have been some fleeting hookups, some months-long relationships, and plenty of matches that don't advance past the first date. In all, my experience on Hinge and Bumble has been very positive. It's been a nice way to put myself out there, visit great restaurants and bars around the city, and strike up chemistry with women who I thought were way out of my league. From a rock bottom self-esteem after the divorce, the apps helped me regain some confidence. Somehow I kept having great dates with great people.
As a previously married guy, I have prided myself on knowing how to interact with women. I don't send lewd messages on apps. I try my very best to be respectful of other's time. My aim is and always has been to date conscientiously and respectfully. Consent is of the utmost importance - and it starts from the first message. From a date to a kiss (or more), engagement should always be affirmative and enthusiastic. Though I have dated around, I'd like to think that I haven't wronged anyone. I want nothing more than to share nice meals and laughter with any date. And if it leads to more, great.
Things Getting Weird
About 2 months ago, things started to get weird. It started with a woman I was seeing at the time. We had been on maybe 3-4 dates. She texted me one day to break things off. Her text basically said: "I didn't realize you were talking to other people and that doesn't work for me. Bye." A string of similar instances happened after that. I would plan dates and then be mysteriously unmatched. I would receive day-after messages like "I had a great time with you, but this isn't going to work. Thanks!" That happened several times. My strong hunch is that I've been posted in the AWDTSG NYC group. Maybe once, maybe twice, maybe more. I don't know. I don't know how the page works or how easy it is to search people on it, but I've convinced myself that I'm on it. I feel like I've been marked with a red flag.
Mental Health Nightmare
I'm an introverted guy. I don't want to be in the public sphere. I don't want people to know who I am. And now this. I can feel a pit in my stomach imagining the comments posted about me. Me.
Ugly. Short. Creepy. Too much baggage. Divorced. Out of shape. Only looking for sex. Self-centered. Doesn't look like his pics. Gross. Horn dog. Red flag. Weird. Douchey. Dumb. Rude.
I hate, absolutely dread, the idea of those things being said about me. It makes me want to pack my bags and leave this big dumb city forever. It makes me want to break down and cry. It makes me want to delete these fucking apps and become a recluse. It makes me terrified about professional repercussions. It makes me feel like when I go to the grocery store, people know who I am. It's a combination of fear, shame, disgust, depression, embarrassment.
I am not doing well... at all.
The thing is, I'm too scared to look. I have several female friends who are in AWDTSG NYC group--we've talked about it before. But I don't want to ask them. I don't want them to see (if they haven't already). And more importantly, I don't want to know the vile things that might be said about me.
I've been cooped up in my apartment the past few days. I don't want to leave. I don't want to open the apps. I don't want to do anything. I feel a profound sense of despair and malaise. I hate this.
What's Next?
The last time I checked, there are currently 113,000 members or so in AWDTSG NYC Facebook group. There are about 100 posts a day. Thousands of new members are added each week. I realize that my story is not unique. Any posts of me will eventually be buried, but that doesn't make it any easier in the short term. I am OK with sitting around and waiting out this storm. It might take a few months, a year. I don't know. In the meantime, I'm just going to sit around and wait. Despondently, that is.
In the meantime, could anyone provide some context about this page actually works? Do you search men by first name and last name? Do you search by phone number? Does it show your full Hinge profile? I'm just curious what the functionality is like on the inside.
If you're in a similar situation, I sincerely wish you the best. Prioritize your mental health. Wishing you all love and peace.

2023.06.08 00:10 Psychological-Load53 Need a hacker.

My moms Facebook and Instagram with 15 years worth of childhood memory photos and videos, and work related content has been hacked. The hacker changed the email and phone number associated with the accounts, so we cannot use their so called “help center”. If anyone knows how to fix this, or can rehack the account and give us the information, it would be greatly appreciated.

2023.06.08 00:09 SecretNefariousness1 My belongings were robbed in Babezzouar the other day

The other day my computer got stolen in Algiers after I went there for a day. I left my bag in the back of the trunk of a driver. We made a stop next to the commercial center in Bab Ezzouar, when the guy dropped me in station at night, I didn't find my bag, I told him to come with me to the police but he refused. I went to the police and I had the guy's phone number, his whole name, the car's plate number and even his picture and I was told to come back tomorrow. When I did they made me wait for three hours in a room full of mosquitos only to tell me they couldn't do anything. I couldn't even file a complaint. They told me to write a paper and send it to the republic agent and then he would decide wether to call me in to fill a complaint or not even though I live far away from the capital. I just gave up on any justice we might have in this country. P.S. I realise it was partially my fault for leaving my expensive things in the trunk of a stranger. But it sucks that you cannot do anything about it after the fact, how come the people who are supposed to protect and serve you aren't doing any slight effort to help. This post is just a rent so don't take it too harshly.

I designed this 3D Printed Phone Holder for my NA
Hey Y’all, I’m sure other people have had the same problem I have had of my phone either having to sit on my lap, in the passenger seat, or inevitably falling onto the floor. To mediate this problem, I modeled and 3d printed this phone holder. It fits my iPhone 14 pro with a silicone case perfectly, and I even added a little thumb hole so you can grab it even easier. I’ve driven around with it for about a week and it’s the best mod ive done.
It requires no modification to your car, it simply slides over the existing clips for the shitty cup holders. This phone holder actually further secures your cup holders by wrapping around the side of the center console.
If anyone wants the files I’ll share them :)

2023.06.07 22:49 screamingpectoriloqy Hit by a commercial truck driver while driving on interstate

Hello, I hope everyone is well.
I was recently involved in a car accident involving a commercial semi-truck who merged into my lane, hitting the back of my car, causing my car to spin out (thankfully no subsequent accident from surrounding/passing vehicles). Everything was captured on dash cam. I am currently having difficulty tracking down their insurance in order to reimburse my repairs and rental expenses.
This event occurred as I was preparing to take my exit on the interstate at night with clear conditions/no rain. I had an adult passenger in the vehicle with me as well. The driver of the commercial truck did not speak english so I had difficulties communicating with them, however I was able to take a picture of their commercial license, truck DOT number, and transportation logo/company name.
When the highway patrol arrived, they determined that the commercial truck driver was at fault, but there was no information available for both the truck or cargo trailer per license plate lookup and the highway patrol instead took the insurance information the commercial driver provided in the form of a large binder to write the crash report. From the crash report I was able to acquire their purported insurance.
I tried filing a claim through their insurance the next day, but the adjuster claimed they did not recognize the specific truck nor driver on their policy. The insurance company did, however, recognize the shipping company that supposedly hired this driver and was currently insuring the company, just not the specific truck/driver. I reached out to the transportation company themselves (truck logo and DOT lookup confirmed that this was indeed the company they operated under) and a representative claimed that their insurance is currently canceled (currently have no insurance?), when I inquired about the driver and truck I received no response. The adjuster tried to be helpful and provided me with another shipping/transportation company and another insurance that the driver and truck might have been operating under from a VIN cab report. Filing a claim through this second insurance company resulted in the same result: their adjuster also claimed that the driver and truck were not insured under them. Following that I was out of leads.
Since my state is a no-fault state, I therefore filed a claim through my own insurance and paid my deductible to begin repairs as I wanted to repair my vehicle ASAP because I am moving to a new state to begin a new job soon. Additionally, I did not have rental insurance so I have had to pay out of pocket for that. My insurance is telling me that they can send the other party a demand letter requesting the money back including my rental expenses, but there is no guarantee. Since I am starting a new job out of state, it will be extremely inconvenient and costly to make do with a rental for the period of repairs. The collision center also has no estimate on repair time since parts for my vehicle are being delayed, but will likely be at least 1+ more months. Therefore, in addition to rental car costs, I will have to arrange transportation of my car to my new state when it is finished being repaired (due to the nature of my new job it will be very difficult to request time off to personally go and retrieve the vehicle and make the considerable commute to the new state myself).
I sought a lawyer to to see if I had a personal injury case in an effort to offset some of my expenses from this accident. However, the attorney told me that if I am unable to pursue sufficient medical treatment then it would not be worth the time nor effort. Unfortunately with my new position I would only realistically have one weekend off every other week, making PT appointments hard to arrange. I managed to find a therapist that had appointments on Saturday’s so at most I would be able to attend PT 1 day every other week.
Therefore, I wanted to ask everyone is there any further legal recourse I could pursue. At first I just wanted to get coverage for my rental and a reimbursement on my deductible. I did not even seek medical examination as I felt it was not necessary to complicate matters. However, now it feels extremely unfair that this driver was able to hit my vehicle, suffer only minor cosmetic damages to their commercial truck while causing me considerable trouble, and then walk away without any repercussions as their parent company/insurance gives me the runaround. I also was under the impression that all commercial license holders need to be able to communicate in english, if not is this reportable? Furthermore I believe all commercial vehicles need insurance in order to conduct business? I plan to follow up with my insurance to try and recover as much of my expenses as possible. Is there anything else I can do? Are there ways to report a potentially uninsured drivecompany? Thank you!
