2023.06.06 00:53 PokingDogSnouts 32 [M4F] New Jersey/New York — Where have all the flowers gone?

I'd like to find somebody thoughtful, someone who isn't superficial. Somebody who appreciates the rich vastness of our shared multicultural past, and freely follows her curiosity in exploring it. Somebody who is trying her best to adhere to the guidance of her inner moral compass, and isn't so easily fooled by the distractions and illusions of the world.
One such illusion, that must immediately be mentioned (this is important, because it's led to a break for me, in the past): religion. Religion is man-made, and not of any higher authority. The Bible and the Quran all permit slavery—in addition to countless other horrid and divisive ideas—while claiming to be eternal wisdom, and that is indefensible. I still like to believe in the idea of some permeating higher morality, that imbues us with our general sense for justice, fairness, and empathy...but, I know that without outright proof, even my holding of such a notion can be deemed a flight of fancy, a residual remnant of a system so entrenched. However, it seems to me that life is often more than just what's on the surface. Um, but now, then—back to the person I wish to know...
I'd also love it if she were artistic. Singing, sketching, painting, writing, composing, creating. Someone who is trying to nurture their talents and passions. I know it can be difficult...
As for me, well... I adore music. Mostly voices from the past (the 1960s would have to be my favorite), because I find them to be humbler and more from the heart, at least in popular music. I’ll just give an example of something I’ve looked into, and this is nowhere near representative of my wider taste, but if you go back to early 1920s country music... (Here's an aside: a lot of what people think of as "country" today is a long cry from what the genre is actually like, historically. If you are into folk music—Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan—it is indelibly linked to "country", and if you'd like a popular example of a song that originated within the genre, look no further than the universally recognized "You Are My Sunshine", from 1939!)
Anyway. If you go back to that early period, where undiscovered niches of music were still sought out and first put to tape... a lot of those artists had no idea about anything to do with recording—no ego, no attempt to sound "cool". What came through instead was a bare expression of the life that had been lived—the inner beauty of their own personhood, and I love hearing that. It's so honest. A vulnerable and piercing expression.
So if you're into history or the beautiful music of decades (and centuries) past, if you have any aspirations for creating as a method of changing the world for the better, if you'd like to play games and watch movies together, if you'd like an accountability partner—or all of the above...please message me. I don't mind the chat function, either—in fact, it's probably easier. Also, to get this out of the way: this is what I look like.
I love beautiful things. Nature, music that tugs at your heartstrings or is so honest you're enraptured, experiences that heal. More specifically, here are some of my current interests:
To close... I suppose I should say I've been afflicted with long-COVID for over two years. It'd be very nice to keep each other company, especially if we share any of the interests up above—we could watch favorite films, have shared listening sessions on Spotify, and it'd be a godsend to find somebody up to play on PS4 and Switch! Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3 on the secret hard modes, maybe? Or sculpting our own world from scratch in Minecraft? Or maybe we could act out Ocarina of Time's storyline using all the options available on Smash Ultimate!
I'd really like to know an intelligent person with a unique identity...who puts forth effort—though at the same time, no pressure on reaching out. If you are this type of person, but can currently only muster up a few words because, hey! Life is tough, and grueling, and we don't always have a ready-made letter in us to flip out of our pockets—don't be scared away by my tower of words. I absolutely know, firsthand, what it's like to want to communicate, yet not currently have the energy or the mindpower for it. Life can really sink you... I promise I will not judge. Please send me a chat message, if you're at all interested in chatting.

Personal Chart of the Week

One of the joys some people have on the chart is seeing their own impact on the chart. Whether its seeing your #1 song at #1, or seeing it bubbling under, people like seeing songs they like being adored by other users. In this section, one lucky chart participant will see their own chart and the impact it had on the full chart this week. NOTE: In the case of charts exceeding 15 songs, I will trim down the lowest tie to fit the chart by using the songs that charted the highest (or are funniest). This week, we have the chart of Queen_Of_The_Castle!

The tracking dates for the next weekly chart is June 1, 11:00 PM GMT - June 8, 10:59 AM GMT and results may come out the next Monday, June 12?

How The Chart Works:

These charts are created based on how frequently each song appears in the top 10 songs/albums for all of the users signed up for the chart. If the song or album occupies that user's #1 spot in their individual chart, it receives 15 points, then 14 points for #2, so on and so forth until 6 points for #10. If there is a tie, which is a common occurrence, then the number of points is averaged across those positions, e.g. if two songs are tied for #1, both will receive 14.5 points. Oftentimes there will be multiple songs tied for the last place, in which case the number of points each song receives decreases until it bottoms out at 1 point each.

2023.06.05 23:03 eeveejoe 26 [M4M] UK / Europe / Anywhere - Looking for something cute and genuine [relationship]

Hey!
I am a 26 year old Artist based in the UK. I am INFJ/INFP, 180cm, blonde, blue eyed and enjoy long walks on the beach (while drinking piña colada… maybe also getting caught in the rain?). I love art, music, history, culture, gaming, youtube and languages. I am currently learning Spanish (really bad at it thought).
I really love music, my favourite genre’s are City Pop, Indie and kpop. My favourite musicians are Kate Bush, Lana Del Rey, Joji and Marina — Extending to other tastes such as Pink Floyd, Fickle Friends and Foals. Cherry Pie by Sade is my favourite song at the moment, What is yours?
Looking for a guy to talk to in fluent Vine/ TikTok references, watch Studio Ghibli on repeat or to have someone, other than my sleep paralysis demon, to cuddle with at night. Basically, I’m just a guy version of Pam, looking for his Jim, or a Mr. Bennet looking for his Mr. Darcy. (I’m also Bottom vers).
Pics are available. DM’s are open. I have WhatsApp and Instagram too, if you want somewhere else to talk. Don’t be shy to reach out :)

TOP 10 Things to do in Barcelona - [2023 Travel Guide]
The suggestions are based on our fun trip to this beautiful city. . And share your own experience in the comments below. We want to thank Ceptics, the number one choice for travel adapters on Amazon, for sponsoring this article. The link is https://amzn.to/3NdiwDO . Here are our top 10 picks:
Number 10: Park Güell Park Güell is a public park designed by the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí. The park was built between the year 1900 and 1914 and it officially opened as a public park in 1926. It is located on Carmel hill in the Gracia district and features captivating architectural elements, sculptures, and landscaping. The park is known for its vibrant mosaics, gingerbread houses, and imaginative use of color and form. Park Güell was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. Don’t forget to visit the most famous Area with the lucky lizard or sit on the long mosaic bench shaped like a sea serpent. Don't forget to visit other works of art by Antoni Gaudi, like Casa Milà or Casa Battló.
Number 9: La Sagrada Família Talking about Antoni Gaudi, let’s continue to his most famous masterpiece - La Sagrada Familia, a large Roman Catholic church, considered one of the greatest works of architecture in the world. Construction of the church began in 1882 and still continues to this day, with an estimated completion in 2026. The church is renowned for its striking, organic architecture and richly detailed façades, adorned with sculptures and intricate carvings. It is one of Spain's most visited tourist attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Francisco De Paula del Villar was initially the chief architect of the Sagrada Família. However, he resigned after a year and was replaced by Gaudi, who incorporated Gothic and Art Nouveau styles into the church's design. Did you know that Antoni Gaudi is buried in the underground level of La Sagrada Famiglia? And don’t forget to visit the stunning interior of the cathedral or landscaped gardens of Plaça de Gaudí.
Number 8: La Rambla and La Boqueria Market La Rambla is a popular and a busy street lined with shops, restaurants, cafes, and street performers. It stretches about 1.2 kilometers or 0.7 miles from Plaça de Catalunya to the Christopher Columbus Monument at the Port Vell Marina. La Rambla was originally a sewage-filled stream serving as an important drain for the heavy rainwater that flowed from the hills in the spring and fall. Now, thousands of tourists wander around this unique street every day, making it one of the city's major attractions. The Legend says that drinking from the Canaletes Fountain will make you fall in love with Barcelona and return to the city time and again. La Rambla is also notorious for its scammers and thieves, so much so, that Barcelona has been nicknamed the pickpocket capital of the world. Always watch your belongings and use common sense. Located on La Rambla is also La Boqueria - an extensive public market dating back to the 13th century. The market is known for its wide variety of fresh produce, meats, seafood, and other food products. There are also several bars and restaurants inside the market where you can enjoy traditional Spanish food, like paella, tapas, and many others.
Number 7: Parc de la Ciutadella Established in the mid-19th century, Parc de la Ciutadella is considered the greenest oasis in Barcelona. Conveniently located close to the city center, this historical garden covers an area of about 170 acres. It features gardens, lakes, playgrounds, a zoo, museums, and monuments. The park is also home to several important landmarks, including the Arc de Triomf, a triumphal arch built to commemorate the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exposition, and the Cascada. This large fountain is the park's most prominent feature. There are other beautiful parks in Barcelona. Check our travel guide for more suggestions. By the way, our mobile-friendly travel guide covers the top 20 things to do in Barcelona and things to know before you visit, including maps, opening hours, links to buy tickets, itinerary suggestions, and other information.
Number 6: Barceloneta Barceloneta is a lively neighborhood known for its sandy beach, which can get extremely crowded during the summer, seafood restaurants, and vibrant nightlife. You can enjoy food and drinks while admiring the sea view at the numerous beach bars. Barceloneta was originally a fishermen's quarter built in the 18th century but is now also home to famous beach clubs. The Legend says that this place inspired Miguel de Cervantes for the famous fight scene between Don Quixote and the Knight of the White Moon. The Area is also home to the five-star W Hotel, famous for its sail-like shape. Don't miss the nearby Rambla de Mar, a waterfront harbor that is a part of the Port of Barcelona or ride a port cable car with beautiful views of the city and surroundings.
Number 5: Tibidabo Mount Tibidabo is the tallest point in Barcelona, with stunning views of the city and the surrounding area. The hill is home to several popular tourist attractions, including the Tibidabo Amusement Park, one of the oldest amusement parks in Europe, opened in 1899; The Tibidabo Cathedral considered one of the most important religious monuments in Barcelona and the Torre de Collserola telecommunications tower. Tibidabo is an excellent destination for those looking to enjoy stunning city views and some fun at the amusement park. Don't skip the nearby Observatori Fabra.
Number 4: Camp Nou Camp Nou is a must-see destination for FC Barcelona football fans and those interested in the history of one of the most successful football clubs in the world. The stadium can seat over 99,000 spectators, making it the largest stadium in Spain and Europe and the third-largest in the world in terms of capacity. It offers visitors a chance to learn about the history of one of the most successful football clubs in the world and to see a vast collection of trophies, shirts, and memorabilia. Camp Nou is a frequent venue for high-profile concerts like that of Julio Iglesias and U2. If you are a sports fan, don't miss Anella Olímpica on Montjuic hill, a sports complex and the main site for the 1992 Summer Olympics. This video is sponsored by Ceptics. If you’re traveling to Barcelona and you're coming from outside Europe, you will probably need a special European travel adaptor to charge your phone and other devices. Did you know different adapters charge your phone, laptop, and other devices at different speeds? Sometimes charging goes nowhere, and, when traveling, you need your devices ready to go fast. Use powerful travel adapters with USB, USB-C and other plugs from Ceptis for a quick charge; some even offer the ability to charge 7 devices simultaneously. You can even buy a voltage converter for small electronics like a toothbrush, shaver, and straightener that you otherwise couldn’t use. Visit Ceptics website to find adapters that fit your needs. The link is in the description.
Number 3: Montjuïc Castle Montjuïc Castle is a fortress located on Montjuïc hill with a long and interesting history, dating back to the 17th century when it was built by the Spanish military to protect the city from foreign invasions. During the Spanish Civil War, it was used as a prison and execution site. Today, the castle is open to the public as a museum, where visitors can learn about the castle's history and enjoy views of the city from the hilltop. Hop on the Montjuic cable car for a captivating 750 m-long trip to the castle. (Check our travel guide for more suggestions.)
Number 2: The Magic Fountain The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc, located close to the beautiful Plaça d'Espanya, just below Palau Nacional, is a large fountain built in 1929 for the International Exhibition held in the city that year. It has been a popular attraction in Barcelona ever since, featuring a choreographed display of water, light, and music, creating a mesmerizing show. The fountain was severely damaged in the Spanish Civil War and could not function until 1955. In the 1980s, music was incorporated into the light show. The fountain was fully restored before the Summer Olympics events in the nineties. The fountain is open to the public, and the shows are free of charge, typically taking place every 30 min in the evening.
Number 1: Gothic Quarter The Gothic Quarter, also known as the Barri Gòtic, is a historic neighborhood characterized by its narrow corridors and a labyrinth of small streets opening out into squares, its many Gothic-style buildings, and structures, including the famous Cathedral of Barcelona, which dates back to the 14th century. The Gothic Quarter is one of the oldest parts of the city, also featuring the remains of the Roman wall. Today, the neighborhood is a popular destination for tourists and locals, with an array of shops, restaurants, bars, and important historical and cultural sites. The quarter is also home to various medieval landmarks dating – not back to the Middle Ages as one might expect from the name – but to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, like Pont del Bisbe. And here is the bonus that we promised. If you have an extra day, explore the Montserrat mountain range, with a beautiful monastery located about 40 miles or 60 km northwest of Barcelona. It is a popular tourist destination and pilgrimage site known for its stunning views, unique rock formations, and the Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat. You can take the scenic cable car ride or even the funicular to get to the top. We wish you an amazing trip to Barcelona.

2023.06.05 18:04 septgirl13 Chile Itinerary Help

Hubby and I are going to Chile in March 2024 and have most of our itinerary set and hotels/flights booked, but we're stuck on what to do our last 3 nights. Here is what we have so far:
Day 1 - Flying
Day 2 - Santiago (SdC) - Arrive at 9 am, stay in town
Day 3 - SdC to Atacama
Day 4 - Atacama
Day 5 - Atacama
Day 6 - Atacama
Day 7 - Atacama to SdC, stay at the airport
Day 8 - SdC to Easter Island - leave at 9 am
Day 9 - Easter Island
Day 10 - Easter Island
Day 11 - Easter Island/SdC - arrive at 9 pm, stay at the airport
Day 12- ?
Day 13 - ?
Day 14 - ?
Day 15 - Flying out of Santiago - 10 pm

We've thought about just staying in Santiago, but aren't sure if there's enough for 4 full days on top of the time we've already spent there. We've also considered Valparaiso/Vina del Mar but between the crime issues and other things, we hesitate to go there. We considered staying in Casablanca, then doing some winery tours (we love wine) and maybe a day trip to Valpo but I can't get the hotel we liked to respond to email and they don't have bookings open for 2024 yet. So, we have to be back in SdC by mid-day on the 20th and we don't get in from Easter Island until 9 pm (staying at the Holiday Inn Airport) and while Torres NP sounds amazing, we think we want to make southern Chile its own trip. Any ideas on how to spend the time that minimizes travel time/flight cost but gives us plenty to see and do? We are pretty active, like day hiking, wine, ziplining, wildlife, beaches, good food, and enjoying the local culture - not big fans of spending all day in museums.

The Top Safety Tips for a Mexico Vacation (2023)
During our vacation this year in Mexico, I experienced a strong sense of safety, and I have gathered valuable tips that can help ensure your security as well. Despite concerns, we decided not to cancel our trip and opted to share our insights. I have gathered safety tips from both the Mexican Government and the United States State Department, in addition to some common-sense measures you can take while on your vacation.
To begin, the Mexican government recommends downloading the "Guest Assist" app if you are flying to popular destinations such as Cancun, Cozumel, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, or other areas in Quintana Roo State. It's advisable to save an emergency contact number in your phone if you're traveling to Mexico.
Moreover, I have some newly discovered safety tips that came to mind after getting a haircut recently. Throughout this video, I'll be sharing these valuable insights. Staying alert is crucial when traveling anywhere, especially in four locations: the airport, during transportation, in your hotel lobby, and in restaurants. At the airport, while searching for your transportation company, it's important to remain vigilant and keep a close eye on your belongings, including your documents, valuables, and phone. Consider carrying printed information rather than solely relying on your phone to minimize the risk of it being stolen.
Distributing your cash in different locations and not carrying all of it on your person is a recommended safety measure. I can provide a video that offers anti-theft tips, including clever ways to stash your cash in various compartments within your carry-on bags, some of which are hidden in plain sight.
While it's advised to avoid areas known for illicit activities, it's important to use common sense and take preventive measures to ensure your safety. Unfortunately, there are no signs warning about potential dangers in specific places, so it's essential to be cautious and do your best to avoid problems.
Inside the airport, as well as during transportation, I felt secure by following a few key practices. Booking transportation in advance is highly recommended. In our case, we used a company called TAG, also known as Mexico Travel Solutions (MTS). When looking for our transportation, I was instructed to locate a sign with my name and either "TAG" or "MTS." However, it's worth noting that the abbreviation "MTS" was used instead of the full company name or "TAG."
Utilizing WhatsApp proved to be beneficial, as the transportation company texted me a picture of the airport map, guiding me to the correct and safe transportation company after my flight to Mexico. Moreover, since it was daytime, I felt secure both inside and outside the Cancun Airport, which was bustling with people. Knowing where I was going, appearing confident, and remaining observant contributed to my sense of safety. I made sure to print out essential documents and emails from the transportation company to avoid relying solely on my phone, which could encounter connectivity issues.
Upon arrival in Mexico, it's crucial not to forget to book your return transportation to the airport and have sufficient cash for tipping the van drivers. We suggest carrying fifty dollars in one-dollar bills, along with a few five-dollar bills for tipping purposes. Sometimes, ATMs may only dispense larger bills, which can be challenging to break into smaller denominations at all-inclusive resorts.
If you plan to go on excursions in Mexico, remember to have dollar bills for tipping the van drivers and tour guides. Often, tour guides depend on tourism dollars and may not receive proper compensation if not tipped adequately. Additionally, consider carrying cash for the bartenders at your resort.
To enhance safety, it's advisable to stay within the confines of a resort location, as they typically have security guards on the premises. If you are not staying at an all-inclusive resort, there are several safety tips to consider while selecting a hotel. Research nearby restaurants to diversify your dining experiences, noting the distance between the hotel and these establishments. Evaluate the hotel's security measures and the transportation options they provide for off-site travel. Furthermore, it's recommended to travel in groups and avoid going out alone. As a solo traveler, you may consider joining a ladies' tour for added security.
As a general safety precaution, avoid venturing out after dark. It's essential to think like a responsible teenager, adhering to common-sense safety measures. Always keep a watchful eye on your drink to prevent anyone from tampering with it.
When booking excursions, we found it beneficial to utilize the services offered by our all-inclusive resort. Initially, I was skeptical about the quality and pricing of resort-organized excursions, but they prioritize maintaining a good reputation with the resort. During our trip, we went on a Cenote tour, where we felt safe and secure throughout. It's advisable to research tours using platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, and TripAdvisor, paying attention to user comments for a well-rounded understanding of the experiences offered.
We appreciated the convenience of having our transportation arranged by the resort. We entrusted our passports to the hotel safe and employed a simple travel hack by taping them underneath the desk or bathroom counter. However, it's crucial not to forget them when checking out. Using washi tape or blue painter's tape makes it easy to pack them securely.
Our resort had staff members checking the license plates of arriving transportation within a gated area. Furthermore, when accessing the beach from the resort, an officer would inquire about our name and room number for monitoring purposes. Although there were peddlers on the beach, they did not bother us and respected our refusal to engage with them.
Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Laurie, and I have been traveling to Mexico extensively for over 20 years. Since my husband is an airline pilot based in Houston, he frequently flies to Mexico. We have acquired various tips over the years, and one that he suggested is ensuring your phone connects to a cell tower promptly upon landing. Typically, it takes approximately 10 minutes after turning on your phone or disabling airplane mode for it to establish a connection. Therefore, it's advisable to connect to a cell tower as soon as possible upon arrival at your vacation destination.
For additional resources and emergency contact information, I recommend exploring the State Department's STEP program, which provides alerts and updates regarding safety conditions in countries like Mexico. You can sign up for the program and receive informative emails before and during your trip. Furthermore, your airline would typically inform you about any significant updates or changes to your travel plans.
If you're heading to Cancun Airport, I highly recommend trying the Margaritaville Jimmy Buffett restaurant, where we had fantastic nachos. Despite the restaurant being crowded, the service was prompt. I will attempt to find the name of another impressive restaurant and include it in the description below.
Here's a useful tip for saving websites or importing phone numbers while traveling abroad: utilize the notes section of your phone. Open a new note, press down on the screen until the camera icon appears, and click on it to insert a picture or paste a website link, text, or contact phone number. It's also wise to have a printed copy of this information for easy access.
Feel free to share any safety tips you have come across or learned in the comments section, as this will contribute to an up-to-date collection of traveling advice for Mexico. Thank you for your time.
