2023.06.07 10:14 AfterPerspective8536 I (M20) have recently had a situation with a girl I’m seeing (F20) and need advice on how to handle it?

So recently I started seeing this girl again we used to talk months ago but she said stuff got too intense and ended it.
Recently she popped up to me asking to see eachother again I was hesitant at first but then after talking decided to give her a chance.
We went out on a date and discussed stuff about what we wanted we agreed to take things slower this time and calm down also she lives a bout an hour away from me so it’s a bit of distance between us.
So anyway this date and the rules we set about going slow and talking more have been going really well and we’ve been able to discuss stuff that we didn’t before and understand eachother better in the past few weeks.
I recently took her to meet my grandparents it was nothing big it was just a quick hello but it was still a decently big deal for both of us and I’m glad to have taken that step.
Anyways that night we sorta took things to the next level and done the deed and we both had a great time together after.
The next morning we found out she had accidentally posted a photo of us on her story and a few people seen it before she could take it down.
She has says she didn’t want to many people knowing and I was the same.
In the picture I look really bad I don’t think I do normally I’m decent looking enough but she was getting messages from people kinda making fun of me and saying she can do better and I kinda laughed it off with her but also worried a slight bit.
She reassured me she doesn’t think that and it was just a bad photo.
That same day we decided to go for food and spend more time together while doing this I brought up to her that I don’t think we should really be going with other people in anyway like kissing talking or anything and she kinda got shy and says we should talk about that stuff when she’s my girlfriend and I thought fair enough and that reassured me.
Now last time she was the one who ended things and I worry she’ll leave again and it led to a conversation while I was driving her home.
It went something like me saying I was worried she was just going to do what she done to me before and just leave and she said she’s not going to do that and promised me she wouldn’t this made me feel better and I dropped her off and headed home this was on Sunday night.
On Monday we were talking as normal and I was meant to call her but she took too long and I fell asleep it was no big deal.
Then on Tuesday I made plans to call her earlier and after her shift she finished 8pm and texted me around 9 asking me to call her I didn’t see her message for 30 minutes then called to no answer.
She texted saying her and a work friend (m27) I think we’re going to get food and asked how long I’d be up so she could try call me.
I said I’d be staying up a bit late and she told me she’ll call me when she’s home she then sent a video on Snapchat of her food and her friend in his house on his bed with the food laid out.
Now I do trust her but she has told me she had a casual thing with someone she worked with but wouldn’t say who and then I started suspecting this guy she was with to be him no big deal.
Then I thought back to our conversation about how I wanted us to be more exclusive and not doing stuff like kissing or the deed or going on dates with others and how she avoided that question a bit.
Also she did say to me in the beginning I could text other girls if I wanted but I told her I thought about that and I wouldn’t be doing it and I expect her to do the same she says she was only texting me.
Now that I’ve covered all that you could say it was a mixed feeling I had of whether her and this guy were doing stuff or just hanging out but then at about 2am I woke up and decided to check her snap maps and I seen she was still at this guys house still active on Snapchat recently but never replied to me.
This has sent me spiralling in a way as we aren’t exclusive and haven’t said so but now this has me in a conundrum I don’t know how to go about this situation I still have heard from her since that video from last night on Tuesday and I’m not sure what to do or think.
Has she done something with this guy, does she like him more now, am I overthinking it or can I be upset since we haven’t officially said we’re exclusive I would really appreciate advice on what to do here.
Also if she has done anything with guy what should I do how do I approach it

The world was gone. Veris paid no attention to the raised voices that echoed around him nor the hunched figure of his father kneeling in front of the men that crowded the tent's opening. None of that mattered.
This thing wasn't his mother. It couldn't be. It was impossible. Its lips were bruised, purple, and bloated. Through its small mouth gap, Veris saw Cracked and smashed teeth daggering into its gums. He almost fell back at the bloody sight. His mother's smile could warm their entire tent in the winter. His mother's skin was soft and flawless, not like the beaten leather draped across a shattered resemblance of a lady. The wrist snapped into the wrong position. Chest caved in. Thick, Raven hair ripped out in patches and dyed in blood. NO. She wasn't this cruel to look at. His mother was the sunshine, the first warm summer breeze that traveled with the smell of sugar plumbs and Perfumed silk. His mother was alive, not this destroyed, dead thing splayed out on his kitchen table.
This was one of the Abara boy’s tricks, an illusion meant to scare Veris into believing something that couldn’t happen—ringing filled Veris's ears. His Tears felt like oil running down his face. He fell from the chair, collapsing on the hardened dirt they had for a floor. How could this happen? She was just going out to get food. How could this happen?
"Tell the boy to rise," shouted a commanding, unfamiliar voice. Veris raised his head and locked gazes with the speaker. A light-skinned Tusta caste soldier dressed in a crisp white uniform adorned with silver bells. Three other soldiers stood beside him, their uniforms tinged with shades of grey denoting their lower rank. The justice of Tylansi had come to Veris's home—sudden and brutal. Veris was ensnared, lost in the man's cold and ruthless eyes. He was like a demon from the scriptures given flesh. Solid shoulders and a great, black beard that swallowed his face. He was tall and muscular, not like a hero, but like the stories of trickster devils that stole wives out of their husbands' beds that Veris’s mother read to him.
"His name is Veris. The almightly himself blessed him with it. Tusta or not, you will not disrespect his god-given dignity." A voice Veris knew well chastised the soldier. It was humbleman Nara, the village's holy leader. The elderly man was wrapped in a sheer gossamer robe interwoven with strings of blue and green. The colors of the Acaska caste. The lowerest within the Tylansi sovereignty. Veris had rarely seen the kind man raise his voice at anyone. Let alone a man of a higher caste.
A gray-clad soldier darted towards Nara with his hand on the strap of his gun holster. " Watch your tongue—Acaska filth. You are in the presence of your lords. Mind yourself under the almighty's watchful eyes." Shouted the man, only inches away from Nara's face. Nara tried to stay firm, but Veris noticed a shaking in the older man's frame.
"We are here for remuneration, not the execution of holy men. Begone Cosia. You are not needed in this matter." The white-clothed soldier looked to the other. "Yes. Sir. I'll secure the area. Some of these Acaska are as sly as snakes," The young man saluted to his leader. Turned, spat in Nara's face, and marched into the village. Nara displayed no emotion, but his shaking lessened.
His father's thin form hobbled to the side of Veris and stared down at him. Veris met his father's amber eyes with twins of his own. He would never have imagined a gaze as lost and helpless could ever belong to his father. His father stabbed his skeletal fingers into Veris's thigh. The boy jerked up at the touch. His dress robes were smeared with dirt and grime. The stitched design of a dragon his mother had sowed onto it fell off as he rosed. Veris raced to catch it but was stopped by his father's firm grip.
"Get up, little bear. We have to welcome the Lords to our home. They are here for judgment." Glaris Al'dan, Veris's father, spoke softly into his ear. Veris sprang forward and wrapped his slender arms around his neck.
After the village famine began, his father rarely spoke to him. "You look them in the eye when they ask you a question. Veris. This is serious. They have to believe your words. okay?" Glaris patted Veris on the back and gently pushed him toward the entrance.
"What about Mama? Are they here to help her?" Veris asked shakily. " Hush now, my brave little bear. Your mother is in the hands of the Almighty. She's singing in his divine choir and spreading your name throughout the heavens. We must protect ourselves now." Glaris spoke. Veris wiped away the new tears that tracked down his face. He wouldn't give the devils a chance to bottle his tears.
Five feet away from the soldiers, they halted. And just as they had practiced before, they did the honorable position of submission when addressing a higher caste. Hands-on knees and head bow to the waist.
" Veris Al'dan, are you aware of the crime brought against you and your family on this almightly day?" The white leader asked. The voice was dead and cold.
" No, my lord surpeme. I was woken up from my sleep by my father's cries. My mother said she was going to the village over to barter for food, " Veris said in a voice laced with pain. He knew
" Your mother was found attempting to steal bread from a Tusta-owned bakery. When confronted, she attacked the owner and ran. The owner's sons caught her. She has paid for her transgression against the law.” The white soldier stated with

2023.06.07 10:12 Ok_Income3553 Which internship company should I choose

Context: I'm a final year polytechnic student and internship will play a huge role on my grades. I had interviewed two companies and I got offer from two of them.
Company A : I will be part of a revolutionary programme as this solution has not be implemented in Singapore. The manager expectations of a good intern is to have the desire to try new things. They stated that they want to recruit two interns however they only gave me the offer. The downside for this company is that to go there it will be a 1 hour trip from my home. My internship supervisor highly recommended this company as many students score well there for internship. This company have different outlets over the world such as Indonesia and US. For this company although they state u can work 5 days a week , u most likely need work more than that since the manager wants you to actively learn.
Company B : I will be given the chance to lead my own programme as the director of the company interviewed me and is interested in my idea. Although the company stated they only looking for 1 intern ,they are offering the role to 3 other students too. The good thing about this company is that this company is only 30 mins trip away from my house. However this company is more localise and is based only in Singapore. They are still in the expansion stage . For this company ,u most likely will also need to overwork since they are in the expansion stage and the director is transparent that u have to work overtime. The internship supervisor also did not actively praise this company but just say they received no complains about it.

2023.06.07 10:12 Frolicking-Fox B of A wouldn't cash my check because of low account balance.

I realize this is a small subreddit, but I don't really know where to post.
I've been with Bank of America since the late 90's.
In all honesty, I fucking hate the bank. I've lived through them itemizing transactions according to amount, instead of date, so they could maximize the NSF charges to my account, all the way to when I found out they recycled account numbers and allowed a person with checks from the 80's with my recycled account number, but a different name, cash the checks and run my account to -$3500.
I hate them, but they have locations all over the US, so I use it for convince.
Yesterday, I went to B of A to cash a payroll check. I wanted to cash some, and deposit the rest. Teller says I can only cash it, and if I want to deposit, I have to take the cash and put it into the ATM.
OK, whatever, I can do that.
I put my card in, and enter my PIN so I can cash it.
The Teller sees my account amount, and then gives me the check back saying she can't cash it because I don't have enough funds in my account to cover the check if it bounces.
This is a payroll check from my work, on an account that has been owned by me since the late 90's.
I mean, I get trying to dissuade fraudulent checks, but seriously? They won't cash a payroll check from an account that is over 25 years old?
What happened to make this shit bank so much worse?

2023.06.07 10:12 triteandtrue 'Vampire'

Not about an actual vampire. Wrote this a bit ago. It's a short story thats not quite done, but I'm looking for some feedback on how it's gone so far.

The Raven Kid tapped its spindly fingers against the glass of my kitchen window. Its small, smooth face was grinning, it’s feathers matted and stained with old blood. The face of a toddler grafted onto an old carrion crow. I opened the window reluctantly, and winced as it leapt down onto my nice, clean counter, right next to the cutting board on which I was chopping onions for my curry. “Message. Heh.” It tittered in a high, girlish voice, hopping a couple steps towards my dinner. I put a hand on the counter in between it and my nice pot of curry that I had been looking forward to eating all day. That hand happened to also be holding a knife. “Let’s hear it.” I said, “No food for a poor li’l birdy that flew all the way here to deliver you a message, Miss?” It said, eyeing the knife, and then the stove where my pot sat, and then back down at the knife. “No.” “Am so hungry.” It whined. “Perhaps if you give me the message.” I said, sighing. These things didn’t eat food. They fed off of misery. It could feel me looking forwards to eating my curry. If it could eat it, or at least get its nasty little feathers into it, it knew I wouldn’t be able to have it and I’d be disappointed. It wasn’t misery, exactly, but it was enough for a single Raven Kid. “You is lying.” It said, “I know you wont give me the eats even if I gives you the message.” “Correct.” I said, and began tapping one of my nails on the hilt of the knife, gently, so I wouldn’t mess them up. I’d just gotten them done. “But I’m giving you an easy way out. You can tell the other Raven kids you were tricked. If not, we move onto intimidation and then, if that fails, I can start plucking your feathers. I’ve never tried putting a Raven Kid in my curry.” And I never would. They weren’t strictly material creatures, they were manifestations of guilt, despair or a host of other negative emotions that never got big enough to turn into something truly threatening. But I’m sure I’d catch some sort of psychic disease if I tried to eat one. The Raven Kid muttered something caustic under its breath, hopping from side to side, like a songbird on the sidewalk. The ugliest songbird on the planet. “‘S just another schmuck who heard old rumor bout calling you through us, that you is honorbound to help.” “Lovely.” I said, “When I figure out who started spreading that around I’m going to find them and make them wish they had never been born. What is it they want?” “Not sure.” The thing continued to sulk, but a gleeful, sharp edge entered its voice, “But it smelled like misery right enough. Horatio Cortez it name is. In a li’l town called Gansfield, in Arizona.” “Well, I suppose I’ll be calling on Mr. Cortez soon, then. But first I’m going to finish making my curry, and then I have to call the school to make sure they have a substitute teacher to replace me tomorrow.” ------ Eight hours later I checked into the dingy motel 5 on the outskirts of Gransfield, a town which, at its densest, felt like it should have been the outskirts of somewhere else. I unclasped my big leather suitcase and carefully donned my harness, and then over it my suit and my tie.
Then I removed my mask from it’s place at the base of the suitcase, and turned to the mirror before carefully affixing it to my face. Today I’d chosen a black and white mask. It covered my nose, eyes and the top of my head, leaving my mouth free. It had little horns at the top and the eyes were big and dark. Most of my masks were a little melodramatic to be perfectly honest, but for idiots that were expecting to see something like this it lent to my mystique, and I couldn’t have any old person see my face. I didn’t want to bring work home.
A pair of old men gave me a funny look from where they sat drinking outside the motel’s office as I stepped out into the hot Arizona sun. But of course they would. That was part of why I chose these ostentatious masks. People would give me odd looks, but nobody would think I'd be, say, robbing a bank. I'd get a lot more negative attention if I went around in a ski mask, or with a hood up hiding my face. That was normal shady behavior, this was bizarre shady behavior, and so was an object of curiosity rather than suspicion. No one called the police on a woman in a strange mask and a suit. I used to avoid staying at hotels, too. People didn’t like it when you booked places while wearing a mask, odd or not, and it was so painstaking to wipe peoples memories of my face as a safety precaution. But now, even all the way out here, there was a remote booking option. Sometimes, they would just leave the keys for me in a little box! No need to talk to anyone! Throw in a fake name and a credit card in that selfsame identity, and no one had to know you’d stayed there. I scanned the sky, searching for the Raven Kids and spotted them almost immediately. High up in the air, more like a swarm of locusts than a flock, circling what turned out to be a Taco Bell. I sat down in the parking lot, near the exit, and lit a cigarette. It was fucking hot, but I’d slapped on a heaping helping of deodorant, and I didn’t sweat much anyway. I'd wait for my caller out here. Hopefully I’d look suitably mysterious and not like a sweaty mess in a suit. They wouldn't let me smoke inside, either, and as I only let myself smoke while on jobs, I wanted to be somewhere I could savor it. A few people passed me by with their to go bags, shooting me strange looks. They weren’t Horatio. Horatio would be looking for something strange, and if he really needed my help, he would approach me. After about ten minutes sitting outside in the sun, I ground out my cigarette and decided that maybe I should head inside. Hell, I’d order something. It was hot. Fuck being mysterious, I wanted a burrito and a drink that was mostly ice cubes. It was pretty obvious which one Horatio was when I stepped inside. He had wedged himself into the corner of one of the booths and was looking down at a half eaten quesadilla when I entered. He glanced up at me and his eyes went wide. I looked in his direction but didn’t adress him. “Large Sprite and a Burrito Bowl, thanks.” I said to the girl at the counter. She stared at me for a moment, before looking down and inputting my order. “Are you going to a… costume party… miss?” She tried, “I am. Yes.” I said, crossing my arms. She smiled and nodded, looking back at one of her coworkers, her facial expression hadn’t changed an inch. She was making an effort to either keep the smile on her face, or prevent that smile from turning into a laugh.
When I got my burrito bowl and my sprite I sat down across from Horatio. He had been staring at me the whole damn time, more intensely and longer than the other patrons had.
He was a skinny young man, probably not done growing, with wiry arms and legs and curly brown hair. His face was drawn and pale, with heavy bags under his eyes. Beneath his nose was an unpleasant moustache-adjacent growth that those incapable of growing facial hair produced when they insisted on trying anyway.
“You, uh, you’re…” His voice became almost a whisper. “The Bruja that’s supposed to get rid of… problems.” Bruja? It meant witch, sort of, but with less of the positive connotations that had been associated with the word ‘witch’ thanks to Harry Potter and other popular media.
“I don’t like to put labels on what I am. You can call me Vampire.” Again, a stupid, melodramatic name, but along with the mask its the kind of thing people expected from the mysterious problem solving stranger. It had been my nickname at the Seminary, too. It was easier to just accept the name.
“You’re a Vampire?”
“Not a Vampire.” I sighed. “Just Vampire. It’s my name, not what I am.”
“Yea. You were out in the sun. Had to have been, to come in here. If you were a vampire you would have burned to a crisp.”
“I’m also not currently ripping your throat out.” I said, mixing up my burrito bowl with a fork. I wished that the food looked as good in real life as it did on the advertisements. It annoyed me that I wasn’t getting what I paid for. “That’s another good way to tell. Real vampires don’t ‘help’ people, unless that person happens to be suicidal, and even then it’s just coincidental.”
When I began to eat Horatio tried to pretend like he wasn’t staring at my mouth.
“I told you, you won’t find any fangs.” I said, pulling my upper lip up with one finger, showing him my perfectly normal canine tooth.
“Yea. Right.” He said, “I know.”
“What do you want, Horatio?” I said eventually, after picking around the tomatoes in my burrito bowl. I hated tomatoes.
“You don’t know?”
“No. Did you actually tell the Raven Kid’s about your problem?” I said impatiently, “Mind reading isn’t one of my skills.”
“I just… I thought you’d know.”
“I don’t.” I said flatly.
“Well.” He began, when I didn’t say anything further. “I’m being haunted.”
“Haunted? That’s… not really my area of expertise. The Raven Kids told you what I do, yes? I can try to help you, but usually you need to solve your own ghost problems. If they’re haunting you, it’s usually for a reason. And while I don’t mind being cruel when the situation calls for it, even I don’t hold with exorcisms.” “The… kids… told me that you didn't do ghosts. But this is different. They aren’t people. I’m being haunted by bugs. Huge beetles with sharp teeth.” An edge of panic crept into his voice. “Every night they come crawling out from under my bed and start biting me, taking big chunks out of my flesh. But no one believes me, because…. Because…” “You have no scars,” I noted. “Yes.” He said, deflating. “Insects don’t leave ghosts.” I said, sticking my hand into my suit, grabbing something from my harness, and bringing out a tiny, empty vial no larger than my thumb. “So you aren’t being haunted. At least, not by what you think you are. Interesting. Alright. I’ll see what I can do. But if this does turn out to be a ghost, I can point you in the right direction, but you’ll need to sort it out yourself.” I held out the vial. “Give me some blood.” He eyed the vial warily. “What are you going to… to do with that? You can make me do whatever you want if you have my blood.” I frowned. What he said wasn’t entirely true, but it meant he’d had experience with the old magics before. They weren’t secret or anything, but it was rare the Raven Kid’s sent anyone my way who already knew about magic at all. People just didn’t believe in it anymore. It wasn’t as useful as snapping your fingers and creating a big pile of cash. And there hadn’t ever been a lot of people that could do magic in the first place. “I’m going to help you. It’s what you called me here to do.” “You are a Brujas.” He said, “A witch. A real one. T-that’s what people say.” I cocked my eyebrow up at him. “What people? Who around here could possibly know me? How do you know about the Old Magic’s, Horatio?” He apparently decided that the last question was the safest to answer. Or perhaps this was his answer for all of them. “Mr. Banderas. He is a Curandero. He healed me a few years ago. I was… sick. I didn’t know where else to go, but he healed me. Made me believe.” I nodded. Medicine men could have magic, on occasion. The good ones. Doctors had it, too, sometimes. The ones that truly believed in saving lives, though they usually didn’t know it. “But he couldn’t help me with the bugs, so I came to you but he told me not to. He-he said---” “What?” “That you were a Bruja. That you stole peoples shadows and made them wander forever. That you had no soul, because you sold it to the devil. That you die if someone shoots you with a silver bullet.” I barked a laugh that was loud and sharp enough to cause everyone in the restaurant to turn and stare at me. Someone had been telling tales. Tales close to the truth, but not the truth. And close only mattered with horseshoes and handgrenades, as my father used to say. “Well I’ve nothing for you, then. And most things die if you shoot them, silver or no.” I pushed myself to my feet. “I guess this was a waste of time---” “No!” He said, and I saw desperation in his eyes. Interesting. “I can’t take one more night like this!” “Well, then.” I proffered the vial. After a moment's hesitation, he took it from me, and before I could hand him the pen knife I kept in my pocket, he had split his palm open with his fingernails, filling the vial with much more blood than I needed. I blinked at him, surprised, but took the vial back when he tried to hand it to me, and began wiping the sides down with a napkin. What a waste of good blood. “Good boy. And do you remember what I said about labels?” I said, leaning forwards, making sure he was looking into the black holes in my mask's face. “Call me a Bruja or a Witch again and you’ll wish you hadn’t. Other than that, we’ve a deal. I’ll stop these bugs for you, if I can.” He nodded, and then paused. “How much money do I owe you?” “I don’t want money.” “Then what do you want?” He said, gritting his teeth. “I’ll do anything to stop the bugs, but my soul is sacred, I will not---.” “Go to walmart and pick these up for me, please.” I said, handing him the piece of paper I had prepared. He looked down at it. His eyes scanned the paper, slowly becoming more and more confused.
“Construction paper? Glue sticks?”
“Yes. Any sort of glue and paper is fine, but you’ll notice that I also asked for twenty boxes of crayons, and I think I’d like to insist on Crayola for those. I don’t trust the quality of some of the off brand kinds that are floating around these days.” He looked at me like he wanted to say something. “Is there a problem?”
“N-no. I can get these.”
“Good. Make sure you get everything on the list.” I hated shopping for school supplies myself, and my students were absolute fiends when it came to crayons. I needed to constantly resupply.
I had resolved not to be paid for the work I did, when I first started this years ago, but school supplies for twenty students were surprisingly expensive, especially on a teachers salary. I didn’t feel bad for this.
Horatio stared at the vial still in my hand, so I tucked it into my suit.
“Now get going. I’ve things to do. Meet me here tonight. I’ll tell you what I find and if I think I can stop it.”
He nodded, and slid out of the booth, stumbling to his feet as his knee caught on one of the legs supporting the table. I watched him walk out of the restaurant, and then stood up and left the opposite way. Everyone in the restaurant watched me go, though they pretended they weren’t.
Back outside in the sweltering heat I walked a few hundred meters away from the Taco Bell, underneath a billboard that advertised a sex shop a 34 miles up the road. No one was foolish enough to be walking around in this heat, so aside from the occasional car rumbling up the road, I was totally alone. I removed the vial of Horatio’s blood from my suit. He had been right. I could steal his shadow, or even sell his soul with this. Blood, freely given, was a powerful thing. But I had no need nor desire to do anything of the sort. I licked my lips.
My magic, my gift, was a tad different than the usual blood magics. For one, while it was polite to ask, I didn’t need the blood to be given freely. For the other, I could do all sorts of things with a vial of blood that other people couldn’t. It’s how I got my nickname from the other students all those years ago. A tad obvious, but all that you needed to have in Seminary was power. Imagination was not a requirement.
I unstoppered the cork and tossed the blood back like a shot.

2023.06.07 10:11 The-Signal-Fire Opinions on broadcasting acts of kindness

I had a debate with a friend today regarding people who records themselves doing good deeds for others. You know: the typical guy who records himself buying food for a homeless person, or the pretty girl who gets recorded being kind to the shy outcast from her class. While I understand that "a good deed is a good deed", I can't help feeling very uneasy with the fact that people record persons who are in a vulnerable state without their consent and use them for attention and external validation. It doesn't feel genuine to me and it also feels super invasive/humiliating to the person in need. My friend on the other hand, supports this behaviour and his reasoning is that it's better that people use their need of attention for something positive instead of meaningless content, and also he enjoys seeing this type of content amidst all the terrible news we get on a daily basis. What's your take on this behaviour? I'd love to hear different opinions so it helps me see it from a more open mindset.

2023.06.07 10:11 autotldr How much will the construction of a new hydroelectric power plant in Kherson region cost - Ministry of Economy of Ukraine

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 11%. (I'm a bot)
After the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, the cost of building a new one may be about $1 billion, since it is not only about installing new hydraulic units, but also about restoring the integrity of a huge dam.
"Russia has once again proved to the world that it is a terrorist state, because the undermining of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant entails environmental, economic consequences, a great threat to radiation and food safety. The cost of building a new hydroelectric power plant could be around $1 billion. It will take at least five years to restore the dam alone, and the cumulative effect of the humanitarian and environmental consequences of the explosion will only increase," commented Yulia Svyrydenko, Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
She also noted that as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam by the occupiers, 80 settlements may be flooded, part of the flora and fauna of the Kherson region may be destroyed, several million people may be left without drinking water, food security and other catastrophic consequences may be threatened.
"The international community must act as tough as possible against Russia. Now Ukraine needs the fastest possible assistance in minimizing and eliminating the consequences of the subversion in the interests of all mankind. First and foremost, we are talking about dismantling and rebuilding the entire new hydroelectric power plant complex from scratch. According to preliminary estimates by the Ministry of Environment and the State Environmental Inspectorate, water resources have been damaged by UAH 2 billion. The amount will only increase," emphasized Svyrydenko.
A headquarters for liquidation of the consequences of the Russian explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station has already been established under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
UAH 1.5 billion has also been allocated for the construction of new water mains to provide Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol and Marhanets with drinking water.

2023.06.07 10:10 Ordinary-Pair-725 25(f) struggling on the inside

Life slowed down again and I feel like things should be easier when they do, but when I’ve had too much free time in the past my trauma decides to hit me full swing and I feel stuck in this frozen state of almost constant disassociation. I forget what I’m supposed to be doing, I forget how to spell words and have a hard time remembering names of things like songs, artists, movies, things I should know especially if I’ve listened or watched them multiple times through my life. I find it so hard to fall asleep and stay asleep, and end up sleeping a lot during the day and I’ve tried things to combat it but nothing is working. I’ve tried reading before bed, setting my phone away, drinking chamomile, taking gummies, CBD, thc, melatonin, sleeping medication (prazosin), I’m unable to truly share how bad things have gotten even to the ones closest to me, because when I do see them I want to have a good/okay time for once and feel like a total burden/failure/useless human being and things are supposed to be better for me now because I’m not living in an unsafe place anymore, I’ve stopped communication from people that were bad for me, I’ve made a couple new friends, I started going back to school and have kittens. I can keep my apartment clean for the most part, but for some reason I feel broken and like I’m unable to complete schoolwork efficiently so my grades kind of sucked and I keep looking for a new job but every job I look at sounds absolutely awful. I am taking my antidepressants and have been for over a year now, I’ve been in therapy(was remote tho and sucked most of the time) but now I finally have an in person therapist that seems to actually care.

2023.06.07 10:08 Wolven91 Humans are seen as lower beings to aliens, but its not all bad, we get free cuddles!

Sam hadn't quite got used to his circumstances yet.
He was currently stood in a room that was the same size as an aircraft hanger. However, instead of the echoing emptiness of a warehouse, the finely crafted room was warm and comforting, if not a bit ostentatious.
The opulence on display made the man from humble origins baulk. He had stayed the night at a palace for the first time in his life and it was an alien serpent's. His 'bed' was an emptied pool. A bowl of some sorts that had been filled by a team of slithering aliens with pillows of various sizes. They apparently usually slept in a heated depression in the floor. The man assumed at least, based off what he knew from Earth fauna any way, that this would be enjoyable for them. To him it felt like he'd fallen into a trap.
During his fitful sleep, someone had snuck in and stolen his clothes. In their place was a length of fine silk. A scrape at his door confused him for a moment before he realised it was their 'knock'.
"Come in!" He said, grasping the length of silk and pulling it behind a moveable wooden wall. He assumed it was where he was to get dressed. He had no doubt it was yet another servant to give him more stuff or drop food off or something!
"How are we this morning?" Asked a pleasant voice.
"Fine, just... just figuring out if I'm wearing this or if I've grabbed a curtain by mistake."
A polite laugh.
"It's a semi-casual outfit of a male taurian. You share similar builds."
"Taurian? The horned ones?" Thinking of thr large brutes that had stolen him.
"Horned taurians are females, hornless, or ones that have their horns hidden are male."
Sam was still struggling. Was he meant to wrap the silk around himself? Over a shoulder?
"Ah, I may need some help before your queen sees me. I'm not quite getting it."
"I can certainly help."
The voice came from above. Looking up, the iridescent scales of her Majesty glimmered as she smiled down at him.
Oh crap, the queen herself had come to see him and he'd assumed it was a servant without looking. How can something that colossal move so quietly?! The ssypno race grew and grew as long as they had access to ample food and heat. Being the queen, every corner of her territory offered her tithes to allow her titanic proportions.
"Allow me, arms to the side." The lower set of arms reached out and masterfully plucked the strip of fine silk from Sam and straightened it before perfectly flicking it over and around Chris's body.
He had been 'gifted' to the queen after being abducted from Earth. The moment she had figured out that he was sentient, or sentient enough at least, she had immediately refused to treat him as an object. Although, some acting on both their parts was needed. There were other humans on the ssypno homeplanet and if the queen outlawed humans, they would be put into danger.
"If we can make it so that every noble on the planet wished to 'have' a human, the criminal elements will not waste humans on using them or selling them to the undesirables. It will be better for them to market their 'stock' to the nobility." She pulled away after securing the toga to review her work. She rested a finger to her chin as she gazed down at him.
Only a fraction of her was in his room, her bulk, blocked the door. Looking up at her, it was as if some great statue had come to life. Like he was a tiny rabbit stood in front of some gigantic anaconda from the depths of the amazon rainforest.
"Once the supplies of humans on the planet dwindle or we know who is holding them, we can begin our raids. I already have my royal guards beginning a quiet organisation specifically for the search for unregistered offworlders." She explained.
"But in the meantime, we have to act as if you're totally into humans as accessories?" Sam finished, a crick in his neck forming.
"Quite. Are you still willing to adorn me for a time? You can still say 'no', I will not force you."
"If you don't condone it, humans will start being used elsewhere?"
"I'm afraid we're quite certain. It's happened before I'm ashamed to say." She confirmed with a nod.
Sam sighed, he wasn't afraid of snakes, but her size intimidated him.
"The ball is in a couple days, we must begin preparing you. I'd rather not have to rely on methods of calming such as gas or suggestion. First, we need you to be comfortable with me."
"I'm comfortable." Sam tried to convince her. She gave him a withering look before leaning down suddenly and pushing her face towards him until she was inches away and still coming.
Her skull was as wide as a single mattress, realistically she could swallow him whole and her eyes were focused solely in him. He took a step back and bumped into the wooden divider he'd been hiding behind. A tongue flicked out and wiggled infront of him causing him to flinch.
Her eyes watched him, unblinking.
"I do not doubt your bravery, but do not doubt my intelligence. We must be as one, I must be able to trust you and likewise you must be able to trust me. With your life, if necessary. "
"How do we start then?" Sam asked, glad when her head pulled away.
"First, is touch. You will be my crowning jewel of the evening. Many will be focusing on you. It must look as if you are comfortable and are not meeting me for the first time, let alone being used as a veil."
Sam was to be draped across the giant queen's snout during the ball. Better than the alternatives that could leave him batter, bruised or motion sick.
"I want you to climb into my coils."
"Climb in?"
"Humph, make no mistake, I could simply grab you and drop you in, but that would be counterproductive."
So, shortly after, Sam began to climb up the Queen's body. The coils were huge, each section taller than he was, but her brilliant scales gave him plenty of handholds. Reaching the top, his legs dangled into the centre of what looked like an organic black hole.
Without hesitation, he let go and slid into her coils feet first.
He discovered quickly that she had expert control over her tail. It writhed and rolled with the same flexibility and control as his own tongue.
He briefly even felt the strength that lay there too. She gave him one good squeeze and that was enough to remind him that was could have killed him with ease.
All that said, by the time he got accustomed to being held, he and her Majesty were having a conversation. All around him, she pressed in against him, he should uave been afraid, but instead he was calmed. She promised that she would protect him and... he believed her.

2023.06.07 10:06 Claymart Passport requirements?

I’m traveling from SFO to Ireland from 06/16-06/25 on Aer Lingus. I just looked at my passport and realized it expires 06/27. Shit. Online I see Ireland has no passport requirements as long as the passport is valid through the length of your trip. On the Aer Lingus site, in one location it states passport must be valid 6 months after the time of the trip and in another section (US to Ireland information) it says there are no passport requirements. I’m trying to get an appointment at SF passport office but want to know if anyone had any advice or similar experiences. Freaking out a bit.

2023.06.07 10:04 Oddity83 Have a link to the mattress I have right now - cannot sleep for too long without waking up with lower back pain. Would like suggestions on where to go from here.

Here is the current mattress I have: https://www.beautyrest.com/a/catalog/exclusive-collections/pressuresmart-plush/
The rep at Mattress Firm did not tell me that I could only exchange for a new mattress once, and this was the 2nd one, so I've been stuck with it. I've been using it, and every night that I sleep longer than ~4 hours I wake up in the middle of the night with back pain, at which point I have to change positions, and then eventually I fall back asleep and wake up. But then I have back pain for at least half my day!
I am 5'8'' and around 200lbs cis male.
I've given up trying to read "review" sites - I think they are all bullshit. It's just mattress companies paying to get their reviews up. I trust you people far more than those sites.
So, looking at the mattress that I have that is not working for me, and going off of my stats, any recommendations? I would rather not break the bank, but at this point I need comfort and a good night's sleep (I don't remember what that feels like).

2023.06.07 10:04 Plau767 Finance Clubs in College?

I’m currently a rising sophomore in college. I’m pursuing a dual degree in political science and business. This first year in college I was more focused on political classes and exploring the political science side of my education, and so only joined policy and consulting clubs. However, I’ve begun to drift toward pursuing a finance - particularly banking - career. I understand that recruiting starts my sophomore year but I am not in a finance club. Is it worth it to try and join a finance club at the start of sophomore year or is it too late? Is joining a finance club even necessary?

2023.06.07 10:03 Beginning_Book_2382 gRPC Web - Unknown Content-Type Received

I'm working with open-source software that uses Envoy to validate that any gRPC-Web requests sent to a web server are authorized with a valid JWT (themselves distributed by Firebase) before processing said requests.
However, I am new to Envoy and as such am unfamiliar with debugging the software. When I navigate to the webpage and try to click on HTML elements that launch gRPC events, I receive errors in the JavaScript console log stating that "Jwt is missing" and most importantly 'Unknown Content-type received'. I understand that my program or Envoy isn't configured to handle the content-type specified in the response header, but I do not know how to fix that issue if that is the case. Does anyone have any experience with gRPC-Web or Envoy JWT authentication and have any guidance on how to solve/debug this issue?

2023.06.07 10:02 OliverShiyo I think Inter actually have the upper hand in the final (tactically at least) - Here's why

You might wanna know first that I am a neutral
Let me begin by stating my predicted line-ups
City: Ederson, Akanji, Dias, Stones, Walker, Rodri, de Bruyne, Gundogan, Grealish, Bernado, Haaland
Inter: Onana, Bastoni, Acerbi, Darmian, Dimarco, Dumfries, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Barella, Lautaro, Dzeko
I would say this match has the narrative of Tradition vs Innovation or Simplicity vs Complexity or something along those lines. Ok so here are my reasons:
Firstly, I believe City are definitely going to have trouble breaking through Inter's defence. City no doubt will probably be looking to make use of Haaland. However, out of possession Inter sit deep with usually at least 6 players in the deep, central zones. However good city are, they are definitely going to have a lot of trouble trying to pass through those 6 players. Especially since most of them are brilliant in defending. Trying to just swing in crosses probably wont work either. Firstly, you have 1v1 matchups on the wings, and Inter have wing backs that can actually defend quite well, so I would expect too many high quality City crosses into the box. Additionally, while yes, Haaland has great physical attributes, I really dont think he is going to win aerially agains a back 3 of Bastoni, Acerbi and Darmian. They already had trouble working through Madrid in the first leg (before anyone starts commenting about the second leg, the second leg I believe was due more to madrid mistakes than City performance) and Inter is an even more defensive side, with even more players in the center.
Secondly, I dont expect Inter to care about City's press. Inter has Onana. A keeper with Id argue the best distribution in the world right now. Up top, you got Dzeko, a traditional, physical, aerially dominant Striker. Ok, Dias and maybe Rodri are good in the air too, but as good as Dzeko? I doubt so. On top of that, you have Lautaro lurking around looking to collect the second balls. When you look at the rest of City's defence, not very convincing either. Walker and Akanji have horrible numbers in the air, and the rest of City's defenders are only average. I would expect Onana to send many long balls to Dzeko. Additionally, you have 2 surprisingly aerially dominant wing backs in Dimarco and Dumfries. If they advance, they would be up against Walker and Akanji, again, these two have horrible numbers in the air.
On paper right now, it seems like Inter have the advantage. City will likely have trouble utilising their Norwegian machine or working through Inter's compact defence. One of their deadliest weapons, their pressing, seems like its gonna be utterly useless. Although City have a 'no-nonsense' back line, the defenders are still modern. It seems unlikely they will be able to contain a traditional beast like Dzeko, especially not in the air. With a powerhouse like Lautaro lurking about as well, just makes things more difficult. It will be up to Pep to come up with something.
Would love to hear what you think :)

If you prefer fresh and delicious food over "chemical sandwiches", if you like to make people happy in their everyday lives, and if you believe that the food industry needs to become more sustainable, then we would be very happy to receive your application.

2023.06.07 10:01 CuntinentalBrekkie 29M UK/Anywhere [Chat] - Looking for someone with decent conversation and decent banter to hang out with.

Heyyy, thanks for taking the time to check out my post & I hope you find at least part of it interesting enough to send me a message. Anyway, without further ado...
I'm coming at you live from the sunny UK (no joke, it's literally blistering this week for some reason and I AM SUFFERING). As much as we can all appreciate a good bit of sunshine, it's nice in moderation but our houses are designed like little hotboxes, the heat stays in so i'm currently typing in shorts and a wife-beater whilst an industrial fan that I got cools me down - hot, right?
My sleeping pattern is just as inconsistent as Marvel Studios is with their quality. I'musually up at all hours (I do work but it's flexible to a degree) so am happy to speak with anyone from anywhere. All I ask is that you're patient and understanding of timezones and...life in general. I've spoken with individuals in the past who have flew off the handle if you don't reply on their clock, so I appreciate someone who's horizontal levels of laid back please.
I like to travel and enjoy snowsports, both of which go hand in hand. As a result, I've been fortunate enough to travel all over Europe many times. Aside from travelling for that, I like to visit new places from Greece to the Czech Republic to Spain and so on. Also been to the US a few times but would really like to visit Japan or Norway one day, maybe Brazil but my pale self would probably incinerate over there. What's your dream destination?
Gaming is a big hobby of mine and I currently play on PS2/3/4/5, Switch & PC. I'd say what games I play but I hop between far too many at once, though I've been blasting Diablo IV and Street Fighter 6 recently. Phasmaphobia is always a good laugh and if you know of Hunt, you're an absolute champ. If you play, what are some of your favourite games?
When it comes to music, i'll listen to anything and everything, really, so feel free to be the DJ on any and all future road trips whilst I drive. Which brings me on to the next one - I love driving and going on the occasional road trip or spontaneous day/weekend out. Any song recommendations?
Movies too, anything and everything, though I do have a bit of a soft spot for horror despite the genre being completely dragged through the mud time and again. Fallen off of Marvel movies recently since they seem to have ZERO SENSE OF DIRECTION following Endgame, but I'll gladly re-watch SOME of them. The BIG BALLER Franchise is, and always will be...Star Wars (despite what Papa Disney did to the movies with VII-IX). Tell me your favourite movies!
I have a keen interest in the paranormal despite being mostly skeptic, I'd say more of an optimistic skeptic would best describe my outlook. Got any scary stories to share? Also enjoy learning about animals and different periods in history. Conspiracy theories are always a good laugh too. What's the wildest one you've heard of?I like to practice martial arts and watch the UFC and Boxing on occasion & as always, good olde WWE is never a dull time, can always stick it on for a little and have some degree of entertainment. Do you watch or play any sports?
Cats, dogs and nope ropes, I have all the pet pics for you. If you have any pets/fur companions, I would LOVE to see them.
I also like to cook and experiment with food. I'll try anything twice and am an average food challenge enjoyer, though I'm not quite Man V Food levels of food challenge.
Please send me your name, age and location in your opening message. A photo would also be appreciated BUT I do understand that this is Reddit and some degree of apprehension/caution is understandable, so don't worry if you aren't comfortable right off the bat. Ideally if we get on well, I would like to move platform preferably to Discord.
If you actually read all of this, I appreciate you. Have a great morning/afternoon/evening & I hope to hear from you.

Sam is a 7 year old Cambodian boy who is fighting cancer for the second time.
When he was 3 years old, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). He was treated in Cambodia at a hospital 6 hours from his home. He spent a year in the hospital and two years traveling bi-weekly to receive chemotherapy.
Until January 2023, when the hospital informed Sam’s parents that Sam no longer qualified for chemotherapy at their hospital. Apparently, Sam had used all the chemotherapy allotted for him, and no more was allowed to be given to treat him. Sam’s cancer never went into remission, and Sam’s parents, making a combined income of $500 USD/month could not afford to pay for the treatment for their only child. So Sam’s cancer treatment stopped abruptly.
Mid-February 2023, Sam came down with meningitis and began having violent seizures. He was rushed, by ambulance, to the same hospital that was treating him for ALL. After a two week stay and many tests, it was determined that Sam’s cancer had spread to his spinal cord and his brain. Sam needed life saving treatment and there was no time to wait.
Given the lack of medical knowledge in Cambodia, we had to look outside the country if we were going to have any chance of saving Sam’s life.
A doctor in Bangkok, Thailand was willing to treat Sam, immediately.
Sam began a 6 Phase treatment program on April 2, 2023. He is currently at the end of Phase 2 and responding exceptionally well to his treatment. The doctor believes if Sam continues on this treatment program, he will make a full recovery.
Knowing we would have to seek treatment outside of Cambodia, we also knew treatment would come with a cost. But Sam’s life is worth the cost.
We have currently spent $44k USD of Sam’s treatment and another $4k USD on travel, food and accommodations for his parents as they stay with him in Bangkok.
We have set up a GoFundMe account for Sam, but because the family does not have a bank account, all money raised goes to Sam’s mom’s employer, who pays the hospital and hotel directly. Hospital bills need to be paid before each treatment.
We ask you to please consider giving to our GoFundMe account for Sam, and help give him a fighting chance at life.

I've seen a few people recommend taking a small tupperware container to pack out food cooked at albergues. Do most hostels that you stay at have kitchens they let pilgrims cook in? If so, do they have all the pots, pans, knives etc you would need to cook a basic meal? I don't mind cooking at all and plan to try to do it most nights for dinners and possibly pack out leftovers for lunch sometimes. Do many people do that?
