2023.06.03 22:42 ssgss3gengar Spoiler heavy theory. Chapter 1085+

Ok so as the title says, this theory is going to have heavy spoilers for chapter 1085. But there is a thought I can't seem to shake related to Egghead Island and The Gorosei
Here's the Thesis: The Gorosei are Devil Fruits
So, in EggHead we've been learning a bit more about Devil Fruits and how they are formed. They supposedly represent The dreams of the initial holder at least that's what I've taken from the information we have. So, basically Devil Fruits have a will of their own, one could argue this could also mean they have a sould of their own.
So based on the fact that the only real information we have about the Gorosei is that they are the direct line of communication between Imu-Sama and the WG and seem to unwaveringly serve Imu-Sama then what's to stop them from being a creation of them?
So I present this though, Imu-Sama, whatever they may turn out to be, is a literal God of some sort (my bet is on them being a literal Space Dragon) and has the ability to bestow legit life into an object, not how Big Mom puts a piece of a soul into an object but just directly "breathe life" into say.... A piece of fruit. So then, the thought goes, Imu-Sama found 5 incredibly overpowered Zoan (added in edit) Devil Fruits and gave them life. A physical form to live in and focus their abilities through, while also being loyal, powerful servants to Imu-Sama to help them maintain control.
Now, I will be the first to admit, my One Piece theories can get pretty wacky sometimes. But this one seems just the right level of wacky to be something Oda has thought of. I'm probably wrong, but what do y'all think? Could The Gorosei be Devil Fruits

2023.06.03 22:41 Any-Ask-9714 I try to explain Mario Bosses

I don’t think most Mario bosses are that bad. I will prove to you that throughout the Mario series, there are only a few bad bosses of the majority. I will try and get you on the side of Mario bosses by explaining the mechanics of every single one. (with a bit of personal bias of course)

Super Mario Bros/Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels:
The First Mario game’s bosses were very and I mean v e r y primitive, But I won’t fault the games or the developers, but to be fair this was one of the first games for a (fairly) Primitive console and bosses weren’t even the main focus of the game, the main focus was on the challenging platforming and level design.

Fake BowseBowser: The boss fights in this game are very simple but could be challenging if you don't have any power-ups with the boss throwing hammers and breathing fire, but all you have to do is either run under the boss when they jump or just jump over them.
------------------------------------------------------
Super Mario Bros 2/ Super Mario Bros U.S.A:
This game is where I’ll start getting into specific boss fights and how they work Individually.

Birdo Miniboss: The Birdo miniboss is a decent boss fight that can be quite challenging especially the later versions where some of the eggs the birdo shoots out are fireballs and you have to watch if the boss is firing the eggs or the fireballs to send them back.

Mouser: The Mouser boss fight is surprisingly fairly challenging, the fight makes you time when you’re going to grab the bombs so you don’t get blown up and time when and where you throw the bombs on Mouser’s platform so the bombs will harm him.

Tryclyde: The Tryclyde fight, (for me at least) is pure panic as the boss shoots its fireballs at you in a near-constant spew while you have to throw the mushroom blocks at the boss and make sure to dodge the fire shot at you.

Fryguy: The fight against Rryguy is also about timing as you have to dodge the raining fire from the boss in the first phase while you grab the mushroom blocks and throw them at the boss until it blows up. The second phase however can be very annoying trying to hit the Small fryguys while dodging them jumping at you.

Clawgrip: The Clawgrip fight is admittingly very slow but it can be pretty engaging to dodge the hurled rocks and send them back to the boss.

Mask Gate: The mask gate fight is probably the best in the game purely because of the sense of shock. The gates usually mark the end of the level and a moment of peace after the boss you just fought. Although the fight itself is pretty lackluster, the gate only flies around the room from side to side as you throw the mushroom blocks at the boss, the only challenge being dodging the boss when you throw the block at them.

Wart: The wart fight can be very challenging with wart spitting out his bubbles in a line with the player having to dodge the gaps in between while throwing the vegetables from the dream machine at the obese toad.
------------------------------------------
Super Mario Bros 3:
The third game from the Mario series has some admittedly boring bosses as pretty much all of the main bosses are the same with only about two being unique.

Boom-Boom Miniboss: Boom-Boom is what most people think of when they say Mario bosses are bad and easy, and I agree the only “danger” is that Boom-Boom may show his spikes before you land on him to “trick” you.

Koopalings (Besides Lemmy/Wendy): 5 of the seven Koopalings are all the same fight with very minor changes such as the ground shaking or the boss moving faster, the Koopalings mostly just fire three magic rings in your direction and jump at you when you stomp on them.

Lemmy: The Lemmy fight is Different from the Koopalings, as Lemmy fires his bouncing balls at Lemmy and rolls around on the ball after you hit him, this doesn't mean it's hard as I don’t even think Lemmy can harm you unless you just jump right into him.

Wendy: The Wendy fight is unique as instead of three rings Wendy summons hoops that will bounce around the room making it pretty difficult to jump on Wendy’s head since the hoops will damage you while you’re in mid-air making it impossible to dodge away from the hoops shot by her.

Bowser: The Bowser fight is probably the best in the 8-bit era of Mario. The Koopa King will spit fire at Mario, The King Koopa will also try to shoot the fire in random directions to try to fool Mario into jumping into them, The Koopa King will also try to Ground-Pound on Mario, But this is also how you defeat him because the floor is made from breakable blocks, Mario has to guide Bowser into Ground-Pounding onto the same spot of blocks until he ground bounds into the pit below the blocks, Overall being a great boss fight.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Super Mario Land:
The bosses of Super Mario Land are Fairly unique and different from many 2d Mario bosses with Most of them being similar to Shmup bosses.

King Totomesu: The King Totomesu fight is a copy of the original boss fights from Super Mario Bros. The only real difference is that Totomesu can only be Jumped over to beat.

Dragonzama: This boss fight is one of the three Shmup bosses in the game the boss is slightly challenging while the boss moves up and down on the screen shooting fireballs periodically alone is pretty easy to dodge, the real challenge comes with the energy ball that bounces around the screen making you stay on edge during the fight.

Hiyoihoi: This boss is probably the worst of the bunch being more of a platforming challenge than a fight as the boss throws boulders at Mario, Mario having to jump on top of the boulders to get past the stone head.

Boikinton: This boss is the second shmup boss and probably the best, the boss is fairly hectic as the cloud bounces around the boss arena and fires homing flying chickens at Mario. The Chickens can be fairly hard to dodge as the boss bounces around the arena making it hard to dodge the chickens and the cloud at the same time.

Tatanga: Tatana is the final boss of Super Mario Land And is the final shmup boss of the game Tatanga fires large cannon balls at Mario that explode into three cannon balls when shot by Mario’s ship. This boss is overall a pretty good final boss and a very fun fight.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Super Mario World:
This is the first 16-bit game of the Mario series and is widely known as one of the best 2d Mario games, but most people say that the bosses in the game are lackluster but I say otherwise. Let me explain.

Iggy/Larry Koopa: These fights take place on a shell-like platform that teeters from left to right, Mario has to jump on the Koopa to send them back and knock them into the lava below, The Bosses will roll fireballs down the platform at Mario. The Larry fight’s only real difference is the Lava bubbles that leap from the lava below making the fight more difficult by its environment, overall being pretty good boss fights.

Morton/Roy Koopa: These boss fights take place in an arena with two walls on each side that the boss will use to climb up the walls of the arena and leap down from the ceiling once they’re right above Mario, when the boss slams on the floor they will shake the ground causing Mario to be stunned in place unless he is in the air, this is dangerous as the boss will then walk over to Mario to try and damage him getting harder each time as the boss gets faster after every hit and the walls will also close in after every hit (only in Roy’s fight). This fight is fairly amazing.

Lemmy/Wendy: These fights are, In my opinion, the best boss out of the three bosses that are shared between two Koopalings, The boss will pop out of the pipes on the bottom of the arena along with two decoy Koopalings that will damage you if you try and jump on them along with one lava bubble that bounces around the arena (two in the wendy fight), The only major difference between the two fights is that the Lemmy fight’s pipes are different heights and in the Wendy fight they’re completely level with each other.

Ludwig Von Koopa: The Ludwig fight is my favorite boss in the game being nothing but a 1v1 against the Oldest Koopaling With Ludwig hopping around the arena making it pretty hard to jump on his head, his main attack is spitting horizontally moving fireballs at Mario making Mario have to jump over the fireballs to get to Ludwig and jump on his head. One of the best parts of the fight (in my opinion) Is after you hit Ludwig when he goes into his shell and slides around the arena at high speeds to damage Mario.

The Big Boo: The Big Boo boss fight is a surprise being the first of the two secret boss fights in the game, the fight involves throwing grabbable blocks from under Mario at the big boo. The challenge comes from the two smaller boos that constantly go after you during the fight and the fact that you cannot constantly attack the big boo because they become incorporeal after you attack him once. This fight is a surprise since you can go through the entire game without even encountering the big boo.

Reznor: The Reznor fight is the second secret fight of the game this time with an entire secret fortress level beforehand, the four Reznors are on a Ferris wheel and Mario has to bump the platform the Reznors are on to defeat them while the Reznor's spit fireballs at Mario after the second reznor is defeated the floor will start breaking making Mario have to jump on the Ferris wheel and try to dodge the dino’s fireballs and defeat the Reznor at the same time, being a great fight

Bowser in the Clown Car: This Bowser fight is a very engaging battle with the Koopa king throwing down Big metal balls on top of Mario and sending down exploding m\Mechakoopas that Mario has to throw back at Bowser, After The King Koopa gets hit 3 times by the Throne Mecha Koopas he will fly above the boss arena and send down fireballs from the Clown car That can be tricky to dodge at the moment, hitting Bowser 3 more times will cause Bowser to crash ending the fight and saving the day.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins:
The bosses of Super Mario Land 2:6 Golden Coins are fairly simple with most of the bosses only having 1 or 2 attacks they use through the fight to make them unique.

Big Bird: The big bird boss fight is the most simple boss in the game but is also one of the most engaging with the Bird periodically swooping down from one of the top corners of the boss arena making Mario time when he jumps on top of his head or risk getting hit by the Bird.

Tatanga: the Tatanga boss fight is a surprising reveal with Mario having just defeated Tatanga in the previous Mario Land game. In the fight, Tatanga flies on either the right or left side and fires out energy beams from the front of his spaceship and also fires explosive balls from the bottom of his spaceship this causes Mario to have to jump over them to avoid taking damage, but Mario also must avoid jumping too high as to not get hit by the laser beam that is fired from Tatanga's spaceship.

Sewer rat: The sewer rat tried to attack Mario by ramming its spikes nose into him and will try to accomplish this by using the many pipes in the boss arena to try and trick Mario into not knowing where the rat is going to pop out from, the rat will also run on top of the ceiling to try and land on top of Mario when they are right above him.

Witch: The witch has a pretty fun fight with Mario standing on three pots, the Witch will show up on either the right or left side of the boss arena and will fire a fireball at the bottom of the pots making the pot lid rise into the spikes on the ceiling hurting Mario if Mario gets launched with the lid, Mario must jump on top of the witch when she appears and make sure no to get launched into the ceiling after he lands back on the pots.

The Three Little Pigs: This boss fight is unique with it having 3 phases (Being each of the pigs) With their separate way to attack Mario and each taking 3 hits to defeat. Starting with the first little piggy who rolls around on the ground gaining speed every time Mario jumps on his head, Then the second little piggy who jumps from left to right in an arc that can be pretty tricky to dodge, the third little piggy zig-zags around from left to right in the arena, this can make it tricky to land a hit on the pig because the pattern of the zig-zag is quite unpredictable.

Octopus: this is the most simple boss of the game with it being able to be defeated in seconds if you try hard enough, The octopus will swim around the boss arena and spawn little octopi that swim up and off the screen, an easy boss fight overall.

Wario: the Wario fight is an amazing fight with Wario using the same powerups and moves that Mario does throughout his adventure in three phases. The first phase of the fight starts with Wario running around the boss arena and jumping at Mario causing a stunning earthquake when he lands Mario has to jump to avoid being stunned and also avoid the falling disco balls that move horizontally from the ceiling. For the second phase of the boss, Wario will use the Bunny Cap to fly into the air above Mario and once he's directly above Mario he'll fall onto the ground trying to crush Mario under his girth. In the last phase, Wario will use the Fire Flower and throw giant fireballs at Mario that travel at him in a spiral and try to run towards Mario Simply jump on his ugly head three times and he'll shrink into the little greedy jerk he is Ending the game and giving Mario his mansion back!

2023.06.03 22:15 ImpeccablyIconic Physiognomy

Physiognomy - the study of the systematic correspondence of psychological characteristics to facial features or body structure.
This has been coined as cookoo science and rightly so due to charlatans using it for face reading and other BS. However like a broken clock is right twice a day, this too is correct in identifying consciously or sub consciously traits in a man.
e.g. Guys who are sad, look serious or sad usually have face that has droopy features. The mouth corner turn downwards over years of that meantal state as that is their default position. Their voice is not matter of fact, full of conviction cos they have doubts if what they are saying has any weight or any listeners. Their walk is anxious or robotic rather than at ease like a King rolling through his kingdom.
This is also a chicken and egg kinda situation… Do they look sad, depressed, serious cos they are not getting results with women or their default expressions is pushing women away. Whatever the case may be, mindset resonates making that physiognomy concrete and prominent. Contrast that with happy, fun guys.. do girls love their company that’s why they are happy or they are happy and that’s why girls love their company. This also gets plastered on happy face, eyes, tonality and walk which strangers identify just by look and vibe. They feel their vibe and if it comes across as genuine, accept it. That's why in party scene.. cool kids identify if the other kid is cool or not just by a glance.
What’s the solution?
Motions creates emotions
Believe it to see it
Fake it till you make it.
Imagine, BE and roll in a world where you are happy and women love you. Any bad reactions? Externalize it.. that person much be jealous, weird. Avoid weirdos and reward fans.
Do this from now on for this to plaster in your vibe, eyes, tone and walk as you live your life. All your behaviors are byproduct of your mindset and self-image, even women.

2023.06.03 22:13 Idontfuckingcare1111 Some motivation please, i am on deficit of kcals and been hitting gym for almost 4 weeks now still weighting same on scale

So to give some brief informations, I am 1.73cm tall and 82kg. The last time I was on shape was in 2019 when I was working for almost a whole year until I got a face infection and quarantined just couple months before Covid started. By thAt time I was on 70kg. Around 2021 due to stress and eating habits I went up to 82kg but joined a kickbox team and lost 6kg in a month. Then I started an office job which my night shift made it inpossible to go at kickbox classes as they were in the afternoon only. So since 2021 when I was around 76kg when I started the new job, i've gained weight again and I am on 82kg now.
Started gym 2nd of May. First week was moslty doing full body exercises with light weights to warm up my muscles, then on second week I've split my exercises. I am doing M: Chest, T: Back, W: Rest, Th: Shoulders, F: Bic/Tric, S: Legs and Sunday Rest. Just finished legs today and finished my 3rd week on this split. I am eating around 1600-1800kcal. Most of it comes from protein. I eat pretty much same meals everyday. Breakfast : 3 whole eggs 2days per week I might add 2 slices of whole bread. Drink 2scoops of isolate protein shake after my workout, and for dinner chicken breast 200-300gr. Snacks are low on kcals either eating grain snacks or peanuts, and sometimes eating dark chocolate 70% small pieces. Its been a month on this routine and havent dropped a single poound. Not sure if I am doing body composition or its too early to see any progress. But kinda losing my motivation. My workouts are pretty intensive , i rest only about 20-30 seconds in between sets, do supersets and dropsets as well. I sweat like hell after I finish. And 3-4 times per week I do HIIT CARDIO 10-20 minutes.
Any advice would be appreciated

2023.06.03 21:57 LightZzBtw first few runs

We started about 3 weeks ago and ran roughly every 4 days, with no running experience whatsoever.
06.05 First run (mid-alr weather) 9km (no time tracked) - wanted to go for 16km but my buddy couldnt anymore so we kinda walked some kms
14.05 Second run (shit weather) 10.03km 01:05:03 6:29min/km - this one was slightly more strenuous, pretty alright tho
18.05 Third run (mid weather) 15.01km 02:46:50 7min/km - alot of walking and pausing becuase we had two new dudes who were a bit unfit - i ran ahead tho so the pace and km might vary a bit

2023.06.03 21:49 Avorem Help me please

Hello everyone and first of all thank you for your attention. I tell you about my case with stomach upset, since it is a subject that I feel worse every time but I cannot understand what it could be.
First of all, I want to mention that I have never abused junk food, nor spicy or irritating foods like coffee. If I drank about two cups of coffee a day (one at breakfast and another at lunch) and well, I've never really eaten a lot of spicy food, maybe a couple of times a week some sauce. I only drink beer from alcohol and more than anything on weekends, although I admit that this last year I did drink a couple of beers more often during the week.
Basically from about 4 years ago, after a couple of months that I was constantly drinking craft beer and eating pizza every weekend, one day happened that I felt an irritated stomach, mostly burning pain only in the stomach area, when At first I thought it was because of some food that I didn't like, but it lasted several days (because I kept eating the same, drinking my coffee, etc.) as I remember, for about a week and a half and with a lot of discomfort.
The first thing I started to do was chew my food more slowly and more times (because I ate very quickly) and cut down on coffee, practically stopping it. Craft beer, after a few months I lost my taste and I simply stopped drinking it, not because it made me feel uncomfortable, in fact I didn't feel that beer in general caused me discomfort, but I changed my tastes and only continued drinking industrial beer on weekends.
After these changes, I improved a bit and it was a controlled matter, sometimes I felt good and I detected that coffee and spicy foods or very acidic things caused me discomfort, perhaps they lasted a day or two but the matter relaxed afterward. So I decided to discontinue them completely. Especially as a result of one day, after a night of drinks (beer) I woke up normal, but I had breakfast with a fairly spicy sauce and that was enough to give me a feeling of irritation in my stomach that lasted at least a few 4 days, without antacids, pepito bismol or those things having an effect on me, I had to put up with it and eat non-irritating things until the discomfort subsided.
The point is that in recent months, almost any food can cause me discomfort, to a lesser degree than spicy food or coffee (which of course I don't even dare to eat), but for example recently I had meat with chicken for dinner, peppers and a little onion, I had a couple of non-alcoholic beers before and that caused me discomfort at night, although the bismol pepito calmed me down a bit, but I still woke up with a slightly irritated stomach.
Right now I haven't had any beers for a week, but I feel that the dynamics are the same, food continues to make me easily fall heavy.
Another note is that I don't eat junk, I don't eat between meals and my diet usually consists of meat, chicken, along with salad or something. I also like to have a little cheese in my stews for dinner and something that I always have for breakfast is egg, with some ham.
My complexion is that of a thin person, I am 1.78 meters tall and I weigh approximately 65 - 67 kilos.
And that's how it has been, there are stews that I don't add pepper or chili, but they're falling heavy on me, for example, chicken in tomato, or onions, one day I even ate an apple on an empty stomach and that gave me a burning sensation in my stomach .
So this is the issue that frustrates me, since investigating well I do not see that my case is gastritis, since I do not have symptoms such as reflux, or sensations in the chest, etc.
Sometimes the burning is also felt in the lower abdomen, as in the intestines, it varies.
I tried a treatment of about 3 weeks with esomeprazole, along with sucralfate (that's a couple of months) and well, I didn't really notice any improvement. During that time I did not drink alcohol, at least while I was taking esomeprazole.
I have tried eating aloe vera for a couple of weeks, but I stopped it because it also caused me discomfort.
At this point I don't know if the best solution is to finally have an endoscope study to see what happens with my stomach tissue, since I feel as if my stomach has no protective layer or something like that, since almost any food can alter. As if the musca was weakened or something. Of course I'm not a doctor and I'm sharing this with you in case you know of someone who went through something similar or had any advice.

Chapter 5: The Final Challenge

\11 AS. Stardust Speedway (Present).\**
Having finished ridding Wacky Workbench of Robotnik’s influence, and possessing 5 Time Stones, Sonic arrives at an advanced, neon-colored city that shines under the starry night sky. Throughout the city, there are also many twisting and turning golden highways with instruments attached to them, and down below is both a factory and Robotnik statue under construction. Admiring the sights again, Sonic comments on the area.
Sonic: “*Whistle.* Little Planet is just full of beauty!”
Sonic: “Though, the neon lights are a little much on the eyes. And that Robotnik statue needs to go.”
Sonic: “Good thing I have most of the Time Stones to fix that! But the first order of business is finding Amy! She’s waited long enough!”
After saying that, Sonic speeds across the many highways, while smashing some Badniks along the way. Though, because of how winding and twisty the roads are, the blue blur often gets confused on where to go, and occasionally bumps into walls due to how fast he’s going. Luckily, he doesn’t get seriously injured at any point.
However, as time passes, Sonic doesn’t find a single trace of any pink hedgehogs, or even robotic ones. So, stopping for a moment in order to think, the blue blur starts to talk to himself again.
Sonic: “Okay, this city may be pretty, but it’s very confusing to navigate!”
Sonic: “Then again, much of Little Planet is a pain to look around in anyways. At least when it comes to looking for stuff like mystical gemstones.”
Sonic: “No matter! If I can’t find Amy here, then I guess I can go find her in the Past, along with the Robot Generators!”
Sonic pulls out the green Time Stone, and puts it up into the air, causing it to sparkle and pulsate with energy. As this happens, Stardust Speedway is covered in sparkly green energy, and many structures change. In a few seconds, the energy disappears, and the blue hedgehog looks around to see how the city looks in the past.
Now, Stardust Speedway resembles a Greek/Roman-style city, with an acropolis, gardens, and surrounding towns. The highways are colored green, and covered with vegetation and vines. There’s a lake below as well, and in place of the Robotnik statue is a gothic-style building.
While Sonic takes a moment to admire the different scenery, he quickly gets to finding the Robot Generators and Amy. This time, he has an easier time navigating the area, and the Badniks are still a joke to him. But strangely, in addition to no Amy, there’s also no Robot Generators as far as the eye can see.
This greatly confuses Sonic, considering how every area he visited before Stardust Speedway had at least one Robot Generator in the past. Though, as he tries to find SOMETHING note-worthy, he notices what appears to be an inactive Hologram Projector, and runs towards it. Once he approaches the device, it turns on, showing a hologram of Metal Sonic.
However, this hologram of the metallic hedgehog isn’t hurting any animals. Instead, he’s merely standing in place with his arms crossed as he speaks.
Metal Sonic: “Hello, Sonic. My inferior counterpart.”
Metal Sonic: “If you are seeing this hologram, then that means you’ve finally arrived at Stardust Speedway.”
Metal Sonic: “Unfortunately for you, Dr. Robotnik decided to move the Robot Generators to a hidden and protected area in order to make sure you don’t ruin his future utopia.”
Metal Sonic: “And don’t waste your time finding it. Especially when you have a damsel in distress to rescue.”
Metal Sonic: “Instead, just head to the future, and come find me.”
Metal Sonic: “Once you do…we’ll finally figure out who the one, true Sonic is.”
Metal Sonic: “Don’t keep me waiting. I’ve been doing so for longer than necessary, and I will NOT be denied the pleasure of finishing you off.”
With Metal Sonic’s message delivered, the hologram projector turns off, leaving Sonic annoyed and eager to throw hands with his metal counterpart. So, as he pulls out both the green and yellow Time Stones, the blue blur responds to the message.
Sonic: “Alright, Metal…if it’s a fight you want, then it’s a fight you get!”
After saying that, Sonic puts both Time Stones into the air, emitting some sparkly energy. He’s going straight to the future, in order to finally put Metal Sonic in his place.

\Some time later. Stardust Speedway (Bad Future).\**
Metal Sonic stands on one of the rusty and discolored highways above the polluted, dystopian city below, with a mechanical door blocking his way. As the robotic hedgehog taps his foot with his hands on his sides, Robotnik floats above in his Egg Mobile, looking a little bored and impatient.
Then, the two notice a blue streak going across the nearby highways, causing them both to perk up. Sonic has finally arrived for the real fight. So, as Robotnik prepares himself with a grin, Metal Sonic merely crosses his arms and stops tapping his foot as he waits for his organic counterpart to arrive.
After a few seconds, Sonic skeets to a stop at the area, clearly a little annoyed, but still keeping his cool. Immediately, Metal Sonic speaks up as he moves his arms to his sides while walking up to the blue blur.
Metal Sonic: “It took you far too long to arrive here.”
Metal Sonic: “Now I wonder if this will even be a challenge?”
Sonic: “Oh, I’ll give you a challenge right now, metalhead! But first, where’s Amy?”
Robotnik: “Your little girlfriend is ALL the way at the end of this racetrack!”
Robotnik: “But if you want to save her, then you’ll have to get to her before Metal Sonic does!”
Sonic: “Really now? You think your robo-hog can best me and my speed?”
Robotnik: “No…I KNOW he’ll make a fool out of you, rodent!”
Metal Sonic: “And considering how our last encounter went, I think you have very little chance of surviving this confrontation.”
Sonic: “Please! You haven’t seen me at my best!”
Sonic: “Besides, what’s stopping me from just finding another way of rescuing Amy if I somehow failed the race?”
After Sonic says that, Robotnik moves behind him, and shoots a large yellow laser down at the highway from his Egg Mobile, leaving a large gap. When the blue blur looks at it, he starts to get the idea, and turns back towards Metal Sonic, still confident in his abilities.
Sonic: “Heh! Guess I can’t fall too far behind!”
Metal Sonic: “Please. Once we get started, you’ll be eating my dust.”
Sonic: “Then I better not hold anything back!”
Eager to finally begin, both Sonic and Metal Sonic stand side-by-side in front of the metal door, which is slowly opening up, ready to run at any moment. And as Robotnik counts down, the two hedgehogs stare at each other, with the organic one giving a competitive smirk.
Robotnik: “On your mark! Get set!”
Robotnik: “GO!”
Almost immediately after shouting that, Sonic and Metal Sonic boost off across the highway, while Robotnik trails behind with the road-destroying laser. Already, the two hedgehogs are at their top speeds, neck-and-neck as they run (Or in Metal’s case, fly) across the twisting and turning highway. The two of them continue to smack-talk each other as they race.
Sonic: “What do you know!? You’re actually able to keep up!”
Sonic: “But sadly for you, Metal, I’ve got this in the bag!”
Metal Sonic: “Really now? Even with all those obstacles on the track?”
When Metal Sonic mentions that fact, Sonic looks at the highway to find many kinds of traps throughout. From spikes, to road-blocks, to springs, and even small stumps. This causes the organic hedgehog to slow down a bit in order to traverse them, while his metallic faker flies over all of it without issue, and continues to mock him.
Metal Sonic: “What’s the matter? I thought you had this in the bag?”
Sonic: “Tch! Cheater!”
Metal Sonic: “It’s not my fault you can’t fly, hedgehog! I’m just using my abilities to my advantage!”
Sonic: “Rrrgghhh!”
Now more aggravated, Sonic speeds up in order to catch up to Metal Sonic, and uses his spin attack to knock him out of the air and down onto the track. After doing this, the organic hedgehog keeps going, while the metallic hedgehog clenches his fists, and erupts in an orange, electric energy as he catches up to his organic counterpart.
Luckily, Sonic jumps over Metal Sonic as he dashes forward, and catches up to the robotic hedgehog, who’s trying to cool down a bit from using that move. But he recovers quickly, and the two are neck-and-neck again.
Sonic: “What’s the matter, chrome dome!? Losing steam already!?”
Metal Sonic: “Don’t be stupid! I’m a machine! I never tire like you do!”
Sonic: “Well, you don’t see ME slowing down!”
Metal Sonic: “Let’s change that!”
Suddenly, Metal Sonic releases that orange electricity again, shocking Sonic and making him fall to the ground for a moment. After managing to get back up quickly, the organic hedgehog glares at his metallic counterpart, who continues on ahead, before speeding back up. Robotnik is slowly catching up to both of them while he’s destroying the racetrack.
As the race continues, Sonic and Metal Sonic continue to mess with each other in order to slow one another down. However, they both manage to catch back up in only a matter of seconds, and seem evenly matched. At points, even Robotnik isn’t certain who will win the race, but he knows his greatest creation has what it takes to win.
After a couple of minutes, Sonic, Metal Sonic, and Robotnik are about to reach the end of the racetrack, where another mechanical door is present, ready to go down immediately when someone passes it. And on the other side of that door is Amy Rose, tied up to a light pole, who sees the three of them coming.
Finally seeing Sonic after being kidnapped, Amy has a hopeful smile, but is very worried that he might fail to get to her in time. As for the blue blur, he’s starting to slow down a bit due to all the damage he’s received from Metal Sonic, who’s getting close to the goal, and Robotnik is about to hit the organic hedgehog with his laser, grinning ear-to-ear.
Metal Sonic: “You put up a good fight, Sonic The Hedgehog! But this is goodbye!”
Metal Sonic: “Now, I will be the one true Sonic!”
Sonic: “Dangit! I’m not done yet!”
Now knowing he can’t hold back anymore, Sonic decides to charge up his Super Peel-Out, hoping to make one last dash for the goal before Metal Sonic gets there first. As he does this, Robotnik almost manages to hit the organic hedgehog with his laser, and gloats prematurely.
Robotnik: “So long, rodent! It was fun while it-!?”
But before the doctor can finish, Sonic bursts across the track at such a high speed that it nearly causes Robotnik’s Egg Mobile to spiral off.
Robotnik: “WHAT!?”
As for Metal Sonic, he’s nearly at the home stretch. However, he notices Sonic quickly catching up at a speed he didn’t think he could reach, which surprises him.
Metal Sonic: “This speed…!?”
Then, Sonic dashes past Metal Sonic, not even saying a single word. The blue blur has never gone this fast before, since he prefers to keep a limit on his speed in order to not disorient himself or destroy his surrounding environment. But right now, all that matters is getting to the end, and finishing this.
Annoyed that his organic counterpart is trying to steal his victory at the last minute, Metal Sonic charges up for one last push as well.
Metal Sonic: “You won’t win this race! I refuse to lose to my inferior counterpart!”
Metal Sonic speeds off in a powerful electric aura, and is trying to push his limits in order to surpass Sonic. But just as he’s about to be neck-and-neck with his organic counterpart, his jet engine starts to blow a fuse, causing him to slow down. His body and system can’t handle the raw power and speed he’s trying to achieve.
However, Metal Sonic doesn’t care at all. His only focus is beating Sonic. Though, sadly for him, the blue blur manages to get past the goal, making the mechanical door above close down. And since the robotic hedgehog refuses to slow down, he ends up colliding face-first into the door with an audible clang.
Not only does Metal Sonic’s head now have a noticeable crack on it, but one of his legs snapped off, and one of his hands became loose, only being connected to the rest of the arm by a few wires. As for his torso’s jet engine, it’s busted and shows dark burn marks. And as the metallic hedgehog starts to shut down due to the damage, he reaches out with his other, undamaged hand.
Metal Sonic: “Must…win…race…”
Metal Sonic: “Must…prove…myself…”
Metal Sonic: “Only…one…true…Sonic…”
And with those last few words, Metal Sonic shuts down, with his arm falling down to the ground. He’s completely busted. He failed his mission. He failed at what he was made for. He failed to beat who he was based off of…
Speaking of his base, after getting to the goal, Sonic tries to slow down at his current speed, but ends up falling to the ground disoriented and a bit exhausted. He doesn’t hear Metal Sonic slam into the door, but he does hear Amy’s concerned voice call out to him as he gets back up.
Amy: “Sonic! Are you okay!?”
Sonic: “Yeah…just pushed myself a little too much…!”
Sonic: “So, looks like I won the race, huh?”
Amy: “Yeah! And I think Metal Sonic just slammed into the door!”
Sonic: “Heh! It’s like I said before! Nothing beats the original!”
Sonic: “But enough about me! Time to get you out of here!”
Sonic frees Amy from her restraints, and immediately, she hugs him tightly, glad to finally be free of Robotnik and Metal Sonic. And while the blue blur is a little uncomfortable, he rubs Ms. Rose’s head a bit in order to comfort her.
Amy: “I’m SO glad you were able to rescue me, Sonic! I knew you’d do it!”
Sonic: “And I’m glad you’re alright. Though, I’m sorry for making you wait so long.”
Amy: “Well, better late than never, right?”
Sonic: “Heh. Right.”
The two of them stay like this for a little bit. And as for Robotnik, he decided to turn off the laser after Sonic boosted across the track. Then, when he reached the end of the track, he’s surprised to find the busted Metal Sonic on the ground, and is clearly upset and angry.
Robotnik: “No! He was my greatest creation yet! How could he have failed!?”
Moving his Egg Mobile a little closer towards Metal Sonic’s body, Robotnik notices the burn marks on his torso, where he quickly figures out what happened.
Robotnik: “Now I see…Metal tried going faster in order to keep up, but his jet engine couldn’t handle it.”
Robotnik: “And I thought I was more than prepared for that hedgehog’s speed!”
Sonic: “Eh. It was still a good first attempt, doc. But there’s only one true Sonic!”
Robotnik looks up to see Sonic walking out of the opened door, with Amy following behind. The doctor glares at his arch-nemesis, while flying up into the sky.
Robotnik: “Tch! You may have bested Metal Sonic! But I’m FAR from finished!”
Sonic: “By all means! Let’s go for an encore!”
After that exchange, Robotnik flies off for Metallic Madness, still possessing the blue Time Stone. Which leads to Sonic and Amy looking over the broken body of Metal Sonic, with the latter having a somewhat sad expression as she stares at him.
Sonic: “You know…it’s kind of a shame I had to trash him.”
Sonic: “If he stopped following Eggman and wasn’t a huge jerk, I would have loved to be pals with him. Or at least rivals.”
Amy: “Yeah…he was definitely much more than a killing machine…”
Amy: “I just wished he did something for himself instead of Robotnik. He could have lived a life of his own.”
Amy: “But…I wasn’t able to get through to him…”
Sonic: “Don’t blame yourself, Amy. The guy made his choices.”
Sonic: “It’s just that the choices he made weren’t that great.”
Amy nods solemnly, before trying to pull herself together, while Sonic decides to move on from the topic of Metal Sonic.
Sonic: “So, did Robotnik or Metal mention anything about a secret area?”
Amy: “Hmm…I don't think so. Why?”
Sonic: “I need to find the Robot Generators in the past of this city in order to rid this future of Robuttnik’s ugly mug.”
Amy: “What about those Time Stones? You have a bunch of them by now, right?”
Sonic nods, as he brings out 5 Time Stones, colored green, yellow, orange, purple, and cyan. Amy is in awe of the shiny gemstones, while the blue blur continues the conversation.
Sonic: “Yeah, I got all of them, aside from the two Robotnik has.”
Sonic: “Though, I don’t know if the Time Stones can get rid of his influence on their own. Not without all 7 together, at least.”
Amy: “Well…having 5 of them should do SOMETHING. Why not give it a shot?”
Sonic: “Hmm…guess you got a point. If it worked with the Chaos Emeralds back on South Island, I don’t see why these gemstones can’t do it here.”
Amy: “Wait, you found the Chaos Emeralds before, too?”
Sonic: “Yep. But I’ll explain later.”
Amy: “Ah! Right! Go ahead!”
After giving a nod and a smile, Sonic raises the Time Stones into the air, while Amy backs up a bit. Then, the gemstones emit the same sparkly energy as before, only it’s far stronger. So much so that the two hedgehogs have to shield their eyes. And as this happens, the red Time Stone that Metal Sonic possessed floats over to the other five of it’s kind.
With 6 out of 7 Time Stones, the future of Stardust Speedway starts to change as it’s covered with sparkly green energy. After a few seconds, the energy dissipates, allowing Sonic and Amy to open their eyes. They’re amazed to see just how different this city looks now that it’s free of Robotnik’s influence.
In this Good Future, Stardust Speedway is more of a giant amusement park colored a bright pink and green. The now lavender highways have plaques of hearts on them, and have support gliders. And the Robotnik statue has been replaced by a lovely cathedral castle. It’s like a world of fun and leisure. Sonic and Amy look around, amazed at the beautiful sights.
Amy: “Wow! This looks SO much better! And romantic!”
Sonic: “It’s definitely eye candy! And look!”
Sonic points at the 6 Time Stones, still floating in the air. The gemstones then float towards the blue hedgehog’s hands, who proceeds to put them away, while Amy comments on them.
Amy: “What do you know? I was right!”
Amy: “And it looks like Metal Sonic had the 6th Time Stone, too!”
Sonic: “Yep! This is definitely a great victory for the two of us!”
Sonic: “Now, all that’s left is Robotnik at his base of operations!”
Amy: “Mm-hm! Let’s take that mustached phony down!”
Sonic: “Actually, I think it’s best you stay here, Amy.”
When Sonic says that, Amy is surprised and offended.
Amy: “Wha-!? Oh, come on! I want to help!”
Amy: “This isn’t because I was kidnapped by Metal, is it?”
Sonic: “Sorry, but I don’t want Robotnik to kidnap you again. We got lucky this time.”
Sonic: “Besides, you’ve already helped out!”
Amy: “Sure, but I want to help even more! I want to show you that I can be useful!”
Sonic: “Amy…”
In order to reassure her, Sonic puts a hand on Amy’s shoulder in order to get her attention.
Sonic: “You don’t need to prove to me that you’re useful. I already know you’re a great friend to be around.”
Sonic: “But I can’t risk your safety more than I already have. If Robotnik and Metal Sonic wanted to, you could have been killed after you were captured.”
Sonic: “So, please just stay here for now. I’ll come find you once I’m done.”
Sonic: “Plus, you have plenty more opportunities to show me how capable you are. And I’m sure you’re gonna keep getting better as time goes on.”
Sonic: “Is that okay?”
Amy: “...”
While Amy is silent, it’s clear by her blushing and bashful smile that she greatly appreciates Sonic’s words. So, with a heavy sigh, the pink hedgehog nods her head.
Amy: “...Mm-hm. Thank you.”
Amy: “Though, once this is over, we’re gonna go on a date!”
Sonic: “Heheh…actually, I don’t think I’d mind that after all this…”
Amy: “Ah! Do you really mean that!?”
Excited, Amy holds onto Sonic’s hands, with the blue hedgehog a bit surprised and uncomfortable, but confirming his words are true.
Sonic: “Sure! But don’t think we’ll be a couple when it’s all said and done!”
Amy: “Hehe! I’ll take that!”
Amy: “Now, go save the day, so we can get to it as fast as possible!”
Sonic: “I’ll be back before you can do another Fortune Card reading!”
Giving a thumbs-up and a smile, Sonic then speeds off towards his final destination, while Amy waves at him with a big smile. Despite how disinterested he is in romance, along with his more impatient attitude, Ms. Rose knows the blue blur is the one meant for her. And she’s looking forward to spending more of her life with him.
However, as Amy decides to go around Stardust Speedway to enjoy the attractions and sights, she wonders about something. When she and Sonic changed the future, the remains of Metal Sonic disappeared. What happened to him? Was he erased from existence due to the Time Stones? Or…
…Is he still here on Little Planet? Waiting to be fixed, and come back for revenge?

2023.06.03 21:05 Dizzy-General8771 Instinct

This story is true about what my husband experienced one summer in the mid 90’s while working as a grounds keeper at a camp for kids.
It was the early 90’s and at the time my husband, Eddie (just passed his 19th birthday) hadn’t yet decided whether or not he wanted to go to college. He had recently lost touch with most of his high school friends and as such, didn’t have much planned for the summer. So, when the offer to be a live-in grounds keeper at a children’s day camp came his way, Eddie was happy to take the opportunity. He lived in a rural area of Ontario so the camp, surrounded by trees and having it’s own small lake, was both secluded enough to have peace and quiet, but not so far away that he couldn’t manage a trip home on the off days.
While the seclusion wasn’t geographically extreme, once everyone left on Friday afternoons – all the children gone, the day staff back home to their families – the place was actually really eerie. This was magnified by the fact that at the time, Eddie didn’t have a car, and the only phone was about a 20 minute walk from his tiny cabin at the back of the property along a dark dirt path. This meant that most evenings and weekends were spent next to a camp fire or inside the cabin with the door locked listening to loud music and having a few drinks.
Usually, the property was really quiet and it would actually get boring out there with no one to talk to and nothing to do. Eddie once told me that he would pass time by canoeing around the tiny lake (which was more like a large pond) and catching every turtle he could find. He would place them in the bottom of the canoe( with some water and lily-pads so they were comfortable) then once he caught every one he could find, he would canoe to different parts of the lake and put them back one-by-one. So, obviously, there wasn’t much going on in the area.
It was one quiet night however, where despite how peaceful it seemed, there was definitely something evil happening out in those trees and fields.
The night started like any other. It was a warm Saturday in Ontario which meant that the bugs were biting and you could drown in the humidity. It was getting toward the end of the summer and Eddie had gotten into the weekly routine - cleaning and fixing things around the camp during the week days then wandering around the property on the weekends. This Saturday had started off no different that the others. Eddie had done a quick security sweep of the area in the morning to make sure nothing was amiss, then spent the afternoon paddling around the lake catching turtles. A few hours before sundown, Eddie was back at his cabin and had built a nice campfire. He always made sure to start the fire before dark.
On this Saturday Eddie had spent the evening cooking a meal over the fire and reading his favorite Stephen King novel The Stand. He had listened to the weather forecast on the little cabin radio earlier that morning and was aware there was a chance of some nasty thunderstorms that night. He was keeping a close eye on the wind and the clouds as night rolled in, knowing that even this far north, the heat and humidity was known to give rise to fearsome tornadoes every few years.
Not long after he finished his meal, the sky turned dark and the wind began to pick up. Eddie doused his fire and was starting to pack up his book and his dishes when he heard something moving through the brush. He stopped and listened for a moment. The rustling continued, but figuring it was a racoon or a deer, Eddie went about his business – more concerned with the approaching storm.
Once in the cabin, Eddie locked the door and felt a little more secure. He turned on the single, un-shaded light bulb that hung above the sink. The rickety cabin wasn’t much, it had no bathroom and no stove, just a mini fridge, sink, a hot plate, and musty bed. As rickety as it was, it still had a lock on the door and the only window was too small for a person to fit through without a struggle.
Soon, Eddie was getting settled back in with his book. It wasn’t long before the rustling sound he had heard outside returned, but this time it sounded like something was brushing up again the outside wall of the cabin. Still thinking it was just an animal, Eddie tried to keep his attention on his book. The curtains on the window were closed, so he couldn’t see outside, but he knew it was dark and thought he heard the distant rumbling of thunder. The rustling and brushing sound was right outside his door now. He wasn’t sure, but he thought he had heard the handle jiggle.
Suddenly the rustling turned to a crashing and it sounded like two or three people were running away from the cabin. This startled Eddie causing him to drop his book.
Maybe that wasn’t just a deer after all”. Eddie thought out loud. He stood up and hesitated.
What was he going to do?
Part of his job was to watch out for trespassers and notify them that they had to leave if he found any. Usually this was an easy job. He was only run into this a couple times and both occasion it was a group of local kids taking a nighttime swim in the pond. Usually, he scared them more than they scared him.
Thinking this was probably the case – the local kids having found his cabin and decided to play a bit of a prank on him- Eddie grabbed his keys and his flashlight and headed for the door.
He could hear the wind howling and the rain starting to tap on the roof. Not quite a downpour yet.
He took a deep breath and opened was about to open the door when he heard a gentle tapping on the window. This was obviously not rain.
The hairs on his arms stood at attention. His blood ran cold even in the stuffy and sweltering heat of late July. He was frozen with his hand on the door knob. Not even breathing. Something in his stomach was telling his to remain completely still and whatever he did to NOT OPEN THE DOOR.
After a few minutes, the tapping hadn’t returned. The rain was coming down harder now and Eddie began to breath again. He let go of the door knob and immediately turn off the light. He quietly got under the covers, not even bothering to take off his shoes or put back the large, metal flash light, in case whatever it was that was out there came back. Eventually he fell asleep.
The next morning Eddie awoke and felt no sign of the eerie presence from the night before. He got up and immediately noticed that the storm had passed and the morning sun was shining through the curtains. Groggy and a bit shaken, Eddie splashed some water on his face and began to rummage through the fridge for something to eat.
He was just debating whether he wanted to cook his eggs and bacon over the fire or if the firewood was too damp when there were a loud knock at the door. Eddie jumped and almost soiled his pants. No one had even shown up unannounced way out here on a Saturday.
“Eddie, it’s Jim, your mom’s friend from work. Are you in there?”
Eddie recognized the voice. His mom worked in dispatch for the local police department. Eddie, being a bit of a trouble maker in a small town, knew the members of the force both from family BBQ’s and from his own personal run-ins.
Eddie let out a breath and relaxed a bit, but then it hit him – Why was Jim out here so early on a Saturday?
Thinking something might be wrong at home, Eddie rushed to the door and unlocked it.
“Hey Jim, is everything okay? Why are you out here?”
“Morning Eddie, everything is fine, but your mom sent me to pick you up and bring you home this morning.” Jim looked around the cabin. He was in his uniform and Eddie could make out his cruiser a few yards away. Eddie noticed Jim was subconsciously fingering his weapon.
“I think you’re mistaken Jim. I’m not supposed to be going home until next weekend and Mom said that she was going to come out to pick me up.” Eddie took a step back and watched Jim’s face as he surveyed the tiny cabin.
“I know that was the original plan, Eddie, but we all think it’s best that you get your things and come with me.” Jim stood in the door with the face of a man who was not to be questioned. The hair’s on Eddie’s arms stood up and he had no choice but to agree and begin to pack up his belongings.
As they packed the car, Eddie could have sworn he was a set of shoe prints that made a trail around his cabin.
After driving in silence for a few minutes Jim casually began asking Eddie what he had been up to last night.
“Did you go out at all or just stay by the fire?” Jim asked, his eyes watching Eddie through the rearview mirror.
“I was by the fire, but they went in side when it started to rain. That storm was starting, so I didn’t want to be caught out in it.”
“It must get a bit creepy out there all alone during a storm”, Jim said. That’s when Eddie remembered the tapping at the window and the strange rustling sounds.
“Actually, it’s usually fine, but last night I got a bit of a scare. Just as the storm was starting, I think an animal or something was walking around my site. Probably a coyote or a fox that smelled my supper.” Eddie’s eyes locked with Jim’s.
“Did you see anything?” Jim asked.
“No. At first I thought it was some of the local kids that I had kicked out of the lake a couple weeks ago. Thought maybe they were playing a bit of a prank on me in return, but the rain was starting to pick up, so I decided to stay in the cabin and pretend I didn’t notice.” Not wanted to sound like a wimp in front of one of his mom’s coworkers in the force, Eddie lied about the chills he had experienced.
“That’s probably for the better.” Jim said. “They usually go away if you ignore them”.
The rest of the ride was silent. Eddie drifted to sleep for a little while and when he awoke they were pulling into the driveway of his parents house. His mom was standing on the front steps when they got there.
“Eddie!” His mom called as he was getting out of the car. “Come inside, I have coffee and breakfast ready”.
“Thanks mom, just let me get my things from the trunk.”
“Just leave them for now. Jim is going to join us for breakfast. You can get your things after we talk.” His mom turned and disappeared into the house. A little confused, but hungry from having missed his morning meal, Eddie shrugged and walked toward the house. Jim locked the car and followed close behind.
Eddie sat at the kitchen table and was greeted with a plate of hot pancakes with bacon and a fresh cup of coffee. Eddie began to eat but noticed that Jim and his mom were only drinking coffee.
After a couple minutes of pleasantries Eddie was starting to get annoyed.
“Why did you pick me up early mom? And if you’re home, why did you send Jim out to get me? Mom, what’s going on!?”.
“Eddie,” his mother said his nice calmly yet firmly in the way only a mother can, as she rested her hand on this arm. He stopped and looked at her. What she said next still gives my husband a pit in his stomach to this day.
“Three people were found dead within a mile of that camp early this morning, just as the storm was clearing.” The words sounded distant in Eddie’s ears.
“What do you mean? Like a car accident?” Eddie was confused but starting to get nervous.
“A man was found dead at the bottom of a radio tower a half mile up to road. We don’t know how he got in there, but it looks like he tried to climb it and fell off.”
Eddie’s eyes widened.
“About a half a mile in the other direction, a young man and woman, about your age Eddie, were found dead. The woman was in the house and the man was found in the back yard. They were both stabbed to death. We found no evidence of a break in.” Jim told this part of the story. He watched Eddie to gauge his reaction.
Suddenly Eddie’s pancakes didn’t taste to good any more and he felt a knot build in his stomach.
“So, you came to get me because you were afraid I might be dead too.” Eddie said this slowly and looked at both his mother and officer Jim.
“Did you hear or see anything strange last night, Eddie?” His mother tightened to grip on his arm and looked into his eyes. He glanced at officer Jim who gave an emotionless stare back.
“Yeah. I was telling Jim that I heard what I thought was an animal rummaging around by the fire after I went to bed. It didn’t go away and I thought it might be some of the local kids. I was going to check it out, but the rain was heavy and I thought they would go away if I stayed inside and ignored them.”
“Thank god you did.” Eddie’s mom hugged him and tried her best to hold back tears. Eddie hugged his mom back. His breath shallow from the shock.
Had he almost been one of the victims of this murder? Had the murderer tried to hide out at the camp after brutally slaying the young couple up the road? If Eddie hadn’t gone inside when he did, would he have been murdered while he sat by his fire?
Eddie’s thought were spinning so fast that he didn’t even notice Jim get up and leave. It was a half hour later when his mother calmed down enough for Eddie to realize that Jim had driven off with his things.
“Mom, you need to call Jim, my things are in his car!”
“I’ll call the station and let them know”. Eddie’s mom didn’t seem surprised that Jim had left without saying goodbye. She just went to the phone and called the station.
“Hi Gale, it’s Penny. Eddie was wondering when Jim will be back with his bags.” At the time, Eddie didn’t notice that his mother hadn’t had to explain the situation to her coworkers in dispatch. Wouldn’t they be wondering why Jim had Eddie’s bags in the car?
Jim eventually came back on his way home after his shift. He dropped Eddie’s stuff off, gave him a squeeze on the shoulder, and said “take care of yourself, kid. It was smart of you not to open that door last night.”
It wasn’t until looking back on the incident 5 years later that Eddie realized Jim had come to pick him up for two reasons. Either, after receiving the call about the three deaths, they were all afraid that Eddie, out there alone in the food with no way to call for help, mate the same fate as the poor souls who lost their lives during that storm, OR, Eddie himself had been the one who had stabbed a young man and his wife to death in their own home before murdering a third victim near a radio tower in the field adjacent to the camp.
Eddie isn’t certain, but when he counts the story, he seems to remember when he got his bags back they weren’t packed in the same way he had left them. He is convinced that his mother and the officers thought that we had been the perpetrator of the terrible crimes committed that stormy July night in southwestern Ontario.
They never did end up finding the killer.

2023.06.03 20:47 InnerAd118 This was originally a joke..

Is this real after all?
This was originally displayed here as an april fools joke over 3 years ago, referring specifically to "Nefertari D. Buggy".
Obviously, this artwork looks way to good to be "completely fake".. and with the most recent revelation that Nefertari Lily, the original queen of Alabasta was also a 'D'.. And the fact that Buggy's surname has never been revealed.. however his place of origin has (stated to be the grand line, which if you look at the first major island of the grand line..), AND the fact that it's ironically funny that Crocodile now works "For" Buggy, a (potentially) long lost descendant of the Royal Nefertari family.. (and of course, he shares a very distinctive hair color with vivi), AND the fact that Buggy, being a D, would fit the theme between him and shanks (assuming he really is a celestial dragon.. well, on his mom's side anyways.. I still kinda think his dad might be rocks).. with that blue hair of course being shared by none other than wapol (and guess who is being protected and hidden by big news morgan right now?)

>! To be honest, I think Oda himself made this picture and intentionally shared it on april fools as a way to throw people of the "Scent", and also as an epic foreshadowing. All of this of course is one piece going backwards to the end (clearly, with egg head being the opposite of ennies lobby i think), meaning the next saga will bring the return of eneru followed by the first confrontation with Black beard, and then vivi returning to the crew temporarily, (robin getting kidnapped by buggy possibly?, but not before she translates the poneglyphs), but ending with the remaining nefertari family members reuniting (buggy, vivi, wapol maybe) and teaming up with the straw hats to take on black beard who "killed" shanks, and some more stuff until finally the straw hats make it to laugh tale to find shanks was waiting there all along. (ok, most of this stuff im just spit balling, lol. But i do believe there is clearly a Vivi, Wapol, and Buggy connection, as well as a Shanks, Rocks, Figarland connection.!<

2023.06.03 20:44 GoldenTortoiseshell Average blood sugar of 146 over the last 16 days after initial a1c of 11

Howdy all
So I’m still getting used to the fact that I have diabetes and eating as well as everything else and since I started keeping track of my blood sugar once a day in the morning it’s been an average of 146 with my highest being 178 and lowest 120. Am I doing ok or could I do better? I have an appointment with a dietician in a couple weeks to help me but I really want to use any resources possible to try to help me get to a normal level as soon as possible. I’ve almost completely quit candy and junk food and mostly just eat quest protein bars or Lilly’s dark chocolate when I have a craving, but I do still eat a lot of fruit too. Quitting rice is really hard because we eat it a lot and bought a big bag from Costco not too long before my diagnosis. Desserts have been surprisingly easy in comparison once I realized they were what was making me feel so sick and tired all the time.

Anyone can start a company. Making it grow in a competitive economy requires SKILLS and EXPERTISE. Every large business in the world today started out as a small business. In fact, the average Fortune 500 Company began with an initial investment of less than $25,000. Heinz started with horseradish and a horse drawn buggy. Hershey started with caramel. Sony started with rice cookers. Marriott started with a root beer stand. Proctor and Gamble started with selling candles door to door. They all started small!
