2023.04.01 22:20 SammyKiller The Governor of Puerto Rico urges the young population of the island to "have more children".

https://www.metro.pnoticias/2023/03/30/pierluisi-pide-a-las-parejas-jovenes-que-tengan-hijos-ante-baja-en-natalidad/
The original article is in Spanish but if you'd like a read, google translate can help!
Saw this today and honestly at first I felt outraged and was like "that's absurd" but then it made me think of the reasons why younger people are simply not having children as much as the past few decades, lets see..
In Puerto Rico's particular case:
The population went through a Goverment lapse when the previous Governor had to be removed from his post for blatant corruption.
The most devastating hurricane in decades happened about 6 years ago, with many of the young population moving to the US as a result, there was little to no opportunity of growth and they had to use our US citizenship to seek a better life that Puerto Rico's economy simply cannot provide.

We are seeing news like these from many countries across the world, and it honestly makes me proud each time I read them because it means that the younger population is taking what is to me the mature approach of analyzing if they can actually afford to have children or simply do not want to partake in a life that in reality puts you as a second to your child, we hear about it everyday, parents that are tired beyond reasonable limits because they have to not only provide but to care for new lives. It's okay to not want to become a parent, you are allowed to focus on yourself and whatever needs and goals you set for yourself in life.
Anyhow, I looked into the public reaction to the Governor's message and a lot of people younger and old alike are completely dumbfounded by his request since it is clear that the economy of Puerto Rico hasn't favored young people's development in decades.

Anyways, RANT done TL;DR: PR's Governor wants younger people to have kids when the island's economy has been in a rough spot for at least 10 years now, making most younger people seek a "better" life with more opportunities in the US (PR citizens are US citizens from birth).

2023.04.01 07:06 Wumbo_name_not_taken 32 [M4F] Puerto Rico/US - You can be from anywhere; looking for affection, company, and support

Please note that when I say support, think of it as a cheerleading kind of support. I dislike talking about my deep problems unless there's a lot of trust and a mutual agreement that we can rely on each other. As for you, you can rely on me for support all you want. Probably one of my main strenghts as a person is listening. It also makes me feel useful.
Ideally, you're from the US. Makes a lot of possibilities far easier. But hey, if you go through this post and think "this is person is just what I'm looking for", I'm not gonna close the doors on it. I've been having pretty bad luck lately limiting myself to the US anyways.
I'm looking for a consistent friendship with the possibility of something more. That something more being something long term and serious. If that possibility doesn't exist, I'm sorry but I'll pass.
Obviously this means I'm open to a LDR. I'm willing to put the work in and I can travel. However, as it stands today, I'm only willing to relocate within the US and probably Canada. With that said, lots of changes have been happening lately, so who knows what the future holds for me.
I'm from and currently live in Puerto Rico (US territory). I speak Spanish and English, and yes, I have an accent. Single, monogamous, never been married, no kids, and drug free. I'm empathetic, and I try to be open minded, patient, and understanding. I like to learn about things that catch my curiosity. My default mode is chill and goofy, but I can be serious when the situation calls for it.
This is me: https://imgur.com/a/nEkCpEN. Pictures were taken recently and I'm willing to send more pictures to verify that is me. I'm a little bit skinnier than I'd like, but I believe it has to do with going off a certain medicine. I also need to get back into the routine of working out. I'd like to see who I'm talking to.
I'm studying art in a serious manner, which is where the support part comes in. I want someone that I can share my progress, my accomplishments, and my art related frustrations with. It doesn't matter if you have knowledge about the topics or not. I just want someone that genuinely supports me.
Other stuff I enjoy: giving affection, receiving affection, voice calls, video chats, gaming, anime, music, animals, and peaceful nature.
If you plan on watching Hell's Paradise when it starts airing and you're up for watching with me we'd be off to a great start.
About you: be single and monogamous. Between the ages of 22 to 42. Have a genuine interest or be into gaming or anime. Be open to the possibility of a relationship. Bonus points if you're clingy.
Please have Discord and please be willing to move to it asap. Reddit is horrible for long communication.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
As long at this post is up it means I'm still looking. Feel free to message regardless of how much time has passed.

236 latinos in the MLB for 2023 - List by country
Wow Venezuela without being an American colony, without any MLB academy in the country, with huge political issues, economy issues, the highest inflation in the world, etc etc.. And still hanging in there with so many players. Without all those issues Venezuela would be #1 easily
