2023.03.24 06:33 Alert_Parsnip_774 NParents make med school hard + toxic med peers

I am crying as I write this because I don’t know why I made the mistake of posting in a med school subreddit asking for advice about proceeding in my exams while giving context of coming from a toxic family and having to cut ties. A commenter said I am blaming my parents and that they bet most of the debt my parents are facing is because of my education and then added how they studied in the worst country in the world and passed and I should suck it up and stop making excuses.
I literally posted asking for motivation because I was already feeling so low and this comment made me feel even worse and I just deleted the post all together. I went to their page and realized they just got back their results and their posts before were about having low grades themselves. It’s sad that the first chance they got after passing was to put someone else down but that brings me back to what my post was about.
I was asking for someone who had been in a similar toxic situation in med school to please encourage me because my school’s advisors already viscously my ripped apart my grade, my first clinical experience I was told was bad and I feel extremely demotivated. My ndad isn’t in debt because of my education and that comment really triggered me. He made poor financial decisions and took out tons of loans for other reasons and my nmom hasn’t been contributing financially.
I went to one of the cheapest med schools in Ukraine miles away from home. My school fees were $3100 US for the year. I removed a lot of the fees through scholarships, I’ve gotten so many, made a GoFundMe, asked for sponsorship and worked to reduce the load.
All throughout my studies my nMom was putting me down and my nDad would call to triangulate against my mom to me while I was studying for exams. I left due to the war to another school and was struggling to transition to their curriculum. A week before my exam my nDad said all his children are “pieces of shit” we should “fuck off” that he’s disowning us and that he’s in debt because of us.
For some context my nDad made my nMom manipulate him into taking out over $30,000 US in loans to send my little brother to school in Canada, he did it to appease her since they are always competing, he also got a new car then took out other loans to start businesses. Remember I said that my school fees were $3100 for the year?
I am not ungrateful and I’m thankful for the support I got but for my dad to blame all his loans on me is so ridiculous. I worked my entire life and got A’s and scholarships from highschool all the way up. So why do they still make it seem like I did nothing? I’ve tried everything. The whole point of me getting an education and staying focused would be in an ideal and healthy family to come back and help them. I am literally in my final year. I’ve done everything to be a good child, everything.
On top of telling us to “fuck off” while I was studying for my exams, there was constant fighting and shouting happening around me coupled with my nMom verbally and emotionally abusing me. Ofcourse I ended up failing my exam and one lecturer just told me it was a disaster and the worst grade he had ever seen that further led to the depression and PTSD I was already facing from fleeing the war.
Med school can be filled with tons of unempathetic people and posting in the med school subreddit made me even more sad because all I wanted was for one person in a similar situation to tell me I can do it. My nMom brings me down, my nDad brings me down and throws back everything he has done, even my GC/nBrother convinced me to drop out so many times. I suffer from so much imposter syndrome and worry where my next dollar is coming from to survive.
I know I made the right decision leaving my toxic home environment and I don’t doubt my intellect. I know I can do it when I’m in a more peaceful environment, but right now I’m crippled with anxiety. I just want one person to tell me they’re proud of me and encourage me to do it. Just one. Sigh.
Any med students/past med students in this subreddit too, I welcome your support. 🙏🏽

2023.03.24 06:32 Thee_Randy_Lahey Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly, March 15, 2023

Debates (Contains verbatim):
Orders of the day:
Nothing particularly notable, just a bunch of politicians from across the country that they invited. See debates if you want details.
Betty Nippi-Albright (NDP) 1:42:00
Presents a petition signed by residents of Saskatoon that calls for duty-to-consult legislation to be enacted. The petitioners are concerned that without this legislation in place, the government is responsible for recognizing when the duty-to-consult is triggered, which has resulted in a lack of engagement with Indigenous communities and lost court battles. The petitioners request that the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan call on the Government of Saskatchewan to immediately stop the sale of Crown lands and enact meaningful duty-to-consult legislation. 90% of crown land has already been sold.
Terry Dennis (SaskParty) 1:43:17
The federal government is infringing on their rights. Wants the Sask First policies.
*NOTE: This is the daily unfounded constitutional challenge that they bring.
Vicki Mowatt (NDP) 1:44:28
Ms. Mowat presents a petition signed by residents of Wilkie that calls for the Government of Saskatchewan to fix the rural health care staffing crisis. The petitioners are concerned about the recruitment and retention of health care professionals in Saskatchewan's rural health care facilities, which has led to disruptions in emergency room, acute, lab, and X-ray services. The petitioners request that the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan call on the Government of Saskatchewan to address the staffing crisis.
Vicki Mowatt (NDP) 1:48:39
Bringing awareness to multiple myeloma.
Alana Ross (SaskParty) 1:46:59
Tribute to Himboldt Broncos and an intro to a local from her riding. He presented the team and and ems/first responders last year.
Nathaniel Teed (NDP) 1:48:26
Speaks about dedication and passion of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada and its staff, volunteers, and community members. He highlights the importance of the museum's artifacts and how they remain relevant today. Mr. Teed was invited to give remarks at the opening of a new exhibit at the museum, which remembers the discriminatory reality of Canada's detainment policies during World War I. He mentions that thousands of Ukrainians were among those held in internment camps across Canada and forced to work in a country they did not know. He also connects current events, such as Putin's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
Terry Jenson (SaskParty) 1:49:40
Talks about 5000 people in Warman joining for a cheerleading event.
Gary Grewal (SaskParty) 1:51:15
Talks about his visit to the Regina Trades and Skills last fall.
Fred Bradshaw (SaskParty) 1:52:47
Talks about some people joining the winter games this past winter.
Muhammad Fiaz (SaskParty) 1:54:01
Starts by saying “Members opposite won’t want to hear it, but we have good news from our economy”. He says that urban starts in Saskatchewan for Feb 2023 are up 76% from last year, and claims that the best in the country. He also says more people are choosing to move here because we are the most stable on the planet.
*NOTE: I didn’t bother fact checking this, but a year ago were pandemic measures, short supply of building materials etc. It’s a dishonest metric from the start. And to start out inflammatory… strange. His entire speech is ridiculous, especially when you consider our worst in country outmigration and migration retention rates.
Health Care Staffing and Provision of Emergency Care 1:55:30
Vicki Mowatt, Nathaniel Teed (NDP) vs Paul Merriman (SaskParty)
Mowat accuses the government of failing on the economy and health care, citing the closure of the emergency room at Regina General Hospital in Regina. She questions whether the people of Regina should expect such failures when it comes to their emergency care.
Merriman’s excuse is there are always ebbs and flows within the health care system and that officials have told him the pressure at the Regina General has been alleviated. He also cites that Saskatoon emergency was shut down over the weekend as well.
He also mentions that the government is working on a human resource plan to ensure that people in Saskatchewan receive the health care they deserve. Mowat argues that health care workers are sounding the alarm and that the disaster at the Regina General should never have happened, and quotes the president of the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) as saying that there is not enough time, capability, or staff to provide safe patient care in most facilities in the province.
Mowat questions the Minister of Health's responsibility for the state of health care and demands that he take action to ensure that such incidents never happen again. The Minister responds by stating that he met with SUN and other stakeholders to discuss the government's four-point plan to address the issue. He also cites the government's efforts to hire more doctors and nurses and to expand the scope of health care providers in the system. Mowat insists that the government's HR plan is not enough and that it is not working. She criticises the government's 15-year record and accuses it of refusing to take responsibility for its failures.
She also questions why the Minister of Health is not listening to nurses and local voices in health care and demands that he work to find real solutions to the crisis in emergency rooms. She says that he shut down a request for a task force to address these issues. The Minister responds by stating that he meets with unions and other groups regularly to incorporate their ideas into the government's plan. He emphasises that the government is working to meet the needs of people in Saskatchewan and will never take their health care for granted.
Teed describes a retired nurse from his riding who had to lay on the floor having a medical emergency. She couldn’t get an ambulance and called family to say goodbye. Merriman responds by he has met with the ambulance providers and went for coffee with them. Teed fires back saying no one should wait an hour for an ambulance, and people are getting hurt.
\NOTE: The tomorrow measures Merriman cites have been deemed not enough by the provincial auditor. They use the same excuse week after week, but the results appears to get work, considering that ERs are closed in our largest cities. He mentions this 4 point plan, and cites the number of nurses and doctors that he’s bring in, but it’s all bandaids, and it’s fewer than we should have previously had. The plan is very late.*
Jennifer Bowes, Matt Love (NDP) vs Dustin Duncan (SaskParty)
Access to childcare spaces
Bowes expresses concern about the crisis in the healthcare system and the rushed announcement of a $10-a-day childcare policy, and didn’t take the time to get things right to get headlines. She argues that parents who rely on part-time care should not be collateral damage in the minister's desire to score a great headline. Bowes questions whether the Duncan will work with childcare workers to ensure that no one loses their space as a result of the announcement. Duncan responds by assuring that no spaces will be cut, and he emphasizes that he got this deal done 3 years early. Bowes continues to press for answers, stating that the government needs to listen to parents and childcare providers who stand to lose access to their spots. She argues that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work for working moms in Saskatoon and Whitewood. Duncan questions the opposition's inconsistent stance on the policy and its impact on the economy.
\NOTE Duncan’s comment about the NDP being inconsistent is nothing but absurd. He is still positioning this as his achievement, but reality is he accepted the $10 a day, he didn’t work for it at all. I also didn’t fact check school funding numbers.. It’s clearly underfunded regardless.*
Funding for education
Matt Love (NDP) vs Dustin Duncan (SaskParty)
Love chimes up that Prairie Valley School division has now started a charity to continue to keep their school running. Duncan insists that he has foundations in place to keep the schools going, and his side of the isle laughs out loud at Love, then he claims Saskatchewan is the highest spending on education in the country. Love returns back that he asked about this funding in 2020, and Duncan told him “We are not going to rely on bake sales to ensure that we have a continuation of a safe return to work” and asks how bottle drives compare as a funding method. Duncan again insists that they’re giving a lot of money to schools, and asks if Love doesn’t want people with a lot of money to help fund the schools, and cites the Brownlee family (may be spelled wrong, I don’t know who they are.)
Government Support for Harm Reduction 2:18:15
Vicki Mowatt (NDP) vs Everette Hindley (SaskParty)
Latest overdose numbers, 103 deaths in two months this year, same as all of 2016. This conversation happens daily. Hindley says that they have a going forward plan of additional funding. Mowatt continues to press for immediate action, Hindley justifies the money that has been spent but doesn’t address the current record, but has a going forward plan.
Bill No. 109 — The Trespass to Property Amendment Act, 2022 2:22:00
Nicole Sarauer (NDP)
Says that they have put very serious concerns on the record about the bill, how it would affect stakeholders. She brings up the premiers tweet about federal workers going on to private property and calls it a redundant bill since people already need to abide by these laws. Cites concerns from Saskel, SaskEnergy and highways workers who are concerns about the rhetoric and their safety.
Bill No. 116 — The Plant Health Act 2:25:06
Vicki Mowatt (NDP)
Notes importance of pest control in agriculture. She is leaving more questions to their critic.
Bill No. 117 — The Saskatchewan Firearms Act 2:27:45
Betty Nippi-Albright (NDP)
Cites her experience of her husband being shot by an illegal firearm, as well as being an indigenous person who relies on firearms for their way of life. She shares the concerns of FSIN regarding lack of consultation. She wants more consultation with impact communities.
Bill No. 118 — The Warrant Compliance Act 2:34:32
Vicki Mowatt (NDP)
She agrees with powers to the police to help find violent reoffenders. Again raises concerns about who is a repeat violent offender, there are definitions missing, and she is concerned about unintended consequence for families, especially kids.
Bill No. 122 — The Saskatchewan Revenue Agency Act 2:37:56
Doyle Vermette (NDP)
Asks why they are doing this, he’s been asking every reading but isn’t getting an answer. Says there was no consultation, and now business will need to file two taxes, one provincial one federal. No answers provided. He cites the cost of a new crown, and says that he has heard ministers in the Saskparty say that they can raise taxes, and they’ll still get voted in. And when the result is negative, they’ll say something about the liberal ndp federal government and put their hand out begging for federal dollars.
Bill No. 124 — The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Amendment Act 2:45:38
Jennifer Bowes (NDP)
Cites once again there are mixed responses from stakeholders, and wants the government to consult.
Bill No. 126 — The Summary Offences Procedure Amendment Act, 2022 2:52:58
Nathanial Teed (NDP)
He’s happy about allowing first nations to enforce their own laws, bylaws, summar offense tickets, time limits. He’s in favour.

2023.03.24 06:29 Specialist_Rub7069 AITA for lashing out at my mom during a family reunion.

I (17F) never had a good bond with my mom (51F). For context, I grew up with my grandma, who took care of me, during my entire childhood. Since, my mom never had time to. When I was 10, she decided to return to her home country, leaving me alone with my mom.
I would stay up every night awaiting for my mothers return, though some nights she never did. When she was home, she would usually lecture me about my performance in school(I am straight As student). I became so stress and worried that I’d disappoint her, that I started growing gray hairs, as a 7th grader.
Fast forwarding a couple years, my grandma returned and my aunt threw a huge family reunion. I was very excited to see her and my eyes already started to pour, as I ran to hug her.
Later during the reunion, my grandma asked several question to my mom: “Does she get good grades in school? What does she do at home these days?”You know the normal questions. My mom responds saying, “Oh, she’s doing ok in school but she’s very lazy, you know? She never goes out and is always stuck up in her room? Not to mention she’s became fatter.”
Hearing those words, I completely lost it. I yelled at her to shut up and to stop pretending to care about me. I stormed out of there and sat outside in the dark for the remaining of the reunion. Outside, I could hear my mom deny every word I said to everyone.
Now at home, my mom is ignoring every word I say to her. I’ve tried to apologize but she just shuts me out again, AITA?

2023.03.24 06:27 P0larYT The world we live in is becoming worse and worse for the average person by the day.

I am a 21 year old from Canada, southern Ontario. There is a huge cost of living crisis here as well as blatant political corruption and mismanagement, as I am sure there is in many places. I can't fathom ever being happy working a "9-5" style job, which seems to be the only life path for me as of right now.
I hear endlessly about "work from home", "get into IT/coding", etc. Work from home is being killed off by most companies. I have a basic coding background, but the IT sector does not seem to be doing so well either, and many jobs want a university degree for entry level work in any sector not just IT, which makes me feel bad about my choice of going to college instead every day. I don't understand what the point in trying is? Every job I see, is an insanely low wage with a 5 day a week commitment. Why should I forfeit 75% of my time in this world to a system meant to wring me dry of usefulness and cast me to the wayside.
There is nothing that overly interests me at all, even though I am in school and have tried a few times at it. I really can't comprehend how things have not changed at all in recent years, COVID crap aside (if anything, I think things are poised to get far worse). I truly see no future for myself whatsoever where I am ever happy, and the state of this country and world truly does not help to "stay positive" or hopeful.

2023.03.24 06:21 AutumnCrystal Here’s Some Happiness, Gimme Your Cancer

The Party hit the beach of the crossed palms on the Isle of Kali tonight, 7x70 paces west should be the lost treasure trove of Longstache, the last Pirate King. They had to wade through a greeting party of 15 giant leeches for their foothold though. About a quarter of the expedition was killed, and White Wolf level drained to 1st level, poor guy. Bilgebottom lost a couple too. At least they salvaged the excavation equipment, and the Amazon Archers all pulled through. They’ll need both.
I was in Cuba last week with the whole tribe. I brought Inferno, Holmes, and a couple copies of Greyharp in case my nieces were interested…and one rainy day they were, Martha the Witch had a nice tea with Cassandra…but there’s so many other things of course.
Regardless the daycare coordinator or child entertainment capitano or whatever was absolutely excellent with the kids, has a couple younguns and I gave her the Greyharps and a couple sets of dice on the way out. Maybe just seeds thrown onto rocks. Maybe nothing new to them at all.
Imagining going back to that achingly beautiful and terribly sad country ten years from now and hearing about this strange Cubans & Conquistadors homebrew made me smile over my rum, a little bit.
Bought the God Damn cigars, came home.

2023.03.24 06:13 Sea_Avocado3882 I (30f) tried not to ruin my (34M) BF’s trip and ended up ruining it anyway. Please help!

I have been with my boyfriend for 10 months. The relationship has been rocky for while. We’ve tried to address our issues but the same problems keep coming up again and again.
Last week I decided that I’m going to end things, it’s just not working and my heart isn’t in it anymore which isn’t fair to either of us. The problem is I made this decision days before he was going to his home country for a family member’s wedding. I really didn’t want to ruin this trip for him. I knew the service is bad where he stays and between the time difference and him being busy with his family that we wouldn’t speak much while he was away anyway. So I decided to wait until he gets back to break up with him.
I told him I was busy the day before he left so I wouldn’t have see him because I really didn’t want to deceive him and pretend that everything is okay. Plus he tried to arrange to see me at the last minute the day before he left so it was easy to get out of it without too much suspicion.
The communication in this relationship largely falls on me. If I don’t text or call him then we usually don’t speak for days. I’ve been trying to balance not ruining this trip while also not blatantly lying to him. But because of the situation, other than wishing him a safe and fun trip the day he left I haven’t reached out.
So 3 days after he got there he texted me asking if I missed him and sent me a bunch of pictures from the wedding. I started talking about how beautiful the bride looked and how the event looked like a lot of fun and he immediately pointed out that i dodged his question about missing him. I didn’t want to lie but I also didn’t know what to say so I just said “yes, lol sorry I was distracted by the pictures”. The next day he texted me again with more pictures. That conversation was easier to get through. We hadn’t spoken for the 2 days after that until tonight he texted me and said “I miss you, do you miss me? Let me know if you miss me and want to see me when I get back. I need some reassurance on where we stand”. It’s really breaking my heart. I don’t know how to respond. I tried to avoid ruining his trip by waiting but I seem to be ruining it for him anyway. I don’t want to lie to him but I don’t feel right about breaking up with him over text. We might not be working but he’s a good person who doesn’t deserve that. I just feel like I made it some much worse and don’t know what to do now, please help!

2023.03.24 06:11 mrthrowawaymcgoo AITA for cheaping out on my nieces birthday gift?

I (33m) work in sales department in a company so it's not like i make six figure but it's enough for me. my parent's house is just 1 block away from my aunts home so we would regularly see eachother and sometimes would stay at other's house if parents were busy or out. and because of that i was really close to my cousin (39f). Well when i went to college i found out that my cousin and her husband's apartment was close to my campus. 15 minute walk. so sometimes i would just crash in their apartment or sometimes would eat at their place if i was short on cash. and they didn't mind. and sometimes i would just go there to play with my nephew who was then 6 years old. he and I became really close and I basically became a fun uncle. fast forward to this year my nephew became 15 in january. so for his birthday i gave him a macbook air m1 as a gift since he's into video editing and stuff like that. last week my niece (my own brother's daughter) became 18. so for her birthday i decided to give her one of those wooden artboxes. remind you that i haven't talked to my brother in months and we aren't really that close. after the birthday party I left, next day i get a phone call from my sil about the gift. I asked what's wrong with it. she says it's nothing. so, i said "alright, talk to you later" since i was at work. after i got home my brother called. he asked why did I cheap out on my own niece. (mind you that those boxes cost from 100-1000 bucks. the one i bought was 170usd) i told him i don't understand. he asked why I gave my cousin's son macbook and my "own" niece some stupid artbox. I told him i thought his daughter was into art since the last time i went to their house her room was filled with paintings and posters. he said she isn't into it and if I would consider getting her something " valuable" to gift that would actually benefit her. I said a gift is a gift and his daughter should be grateful. he wanted to argue but i hung up. next day bunch of my other cousins and my mom messaged why i cheaped out on my "own" niece where as I gifted my cousins son a macbook. my mom said I should've thought about it before and gifted her something expensive like what i've done for my cousin's son. my dad doesn't really care and stayed out of it. now i don't know if it was inconsiderate of me and I should've done something similar and could've easily avoid this drama. am i the asshole for cheaping out on my niece's birthday gift?

2023.03.24 06:11 Premiumpethouse1 Common Myths of German Shepherd Puppies

Common Myths of German Shepherd Puppies
There are so many things you have heard about German Shepherds. Most people get them when they are in their puppy form and would like to train them from that initial stage of life. But, even to this date, people are sceptical before getting their hands on German shepherd puppies, and only because of some myths floating around!
Most of the Myths about German Shepherd Puppies are baseless and are designed to make people feel scared and less loved of these animals. Bursting these myths is the best point of action to consider, and the points listed below will help you to find the actual truth behind these versions. So, let's delve deep into the notes.
# 1. They are scary
If you are still getting familiar with the German shepherd breed, you might feel intimidated. It is because of the highly recognizable appearance of these dogs.

  • You have seen German shepherds on TV and in movies as military or police dogs.
  • They are always seen as actively engaged in their work and have a fierce looks.
  • But you must know that these dogs are highly trained and safer to be around than other breeds' untrained dogs.
  • There is nothing to be afraid of to handling a German shepherd unless you are a criminal and on the run!
So, one of the biggest Myths about German Shepherd Puppies is that they are scary, which is hardly the truth.
# 2. They bite
Always remember that the German shepherd puppy's personality is always similar to any working breed. They are active and loyal pets of the entire family.

  • Being a puppy, they always playfully bite others, but that doesn't have to be aggressive. It is their herding nature. You can correct this behaviour when your pet is still in its puppy stage and won't need much work.
  • Most people have this myth that German shepherds will bite only because they have seen these dogs in police work. But, you will be surprised to know that most such dog bites are not from a German shepherd.
  • Mixed breeds are the ones that mostly account for dog bites.
# 3. German Shepherd Dogs are aggressive!
One of the major German shepherd facts is that this breed is aggressive. It is true for some dogs but not all German shepherds you have come up with. Most of them are just normal pets.
Dogs in every breed could get aggressive if things didn't work out as they wanted. It is their instinct to protect them, resulting in aggressive behaviour. The same goes with the German shepherd; there is nothing else to the factor. So you can train the German shepherds to act aggressively toward intruders.
# 4. They don't get along with other dogs
If there is one thing you need to know about German shepherds, the breed is highly protective of the family. So, they tend to get jealous. Much like other dog breeds, German shepherds would love to be the single pet in a family and do not want to share the love with others.
But you must also know that most German shepherds love to gel with other dogs of any size or breed. These dogs can also socialize around others once you introduce them.
# 5. It would help if you only got a puppy
German shepherd puppies are indeed really adorable. But they are a lot of work to handle on your own! In addition, they always need consistent supervision and are known for chewing and puppy biting. But are these different features with any breed of puppy you get your hands on?
So, working on German shepherd puppies is nothing out of the blue. You have to go through the same issues with other breed puppies too! Otherwise, you can opt for the loving adult German Shepherd In India who desperately needs a forever home.
Whenever you try to add an adult dog to the place, you must be more careful regarding the best choice. It should be tested with other pets and kids to see if that German shepherd is perfect for your place.
# 6. They are so smart they don't need training
German shepherds are extremely smart dogs. So, people have a myth that they don't need training. Well, untrained dogs will make some drastic decisions by themselves, which can lead to bigger mischief.
They might become dominant. On the other hand, if you are trying to create a confident and social dog, proper training is necessary, no matter how smart the dog seems. You can turn a dog into a confident pet through exercise, playtime, socialization, and training.
# 7. You can't train a grown dog
Who said that you couldn't train an adult German shepherd? There is always a difference between neurotic, aggressive, or damaged dogs. Such pets are in dire need of professional help. Such dogs are in desperate need of training and skills.
Much like little puppies, mentally healthy grown dogs can be well-trained. Moreover, they love to enjoy bonding time with their owners these days.
Remember that German shepherds are quite smart and mostly thrive on mental challenges. So, training a grown-up dog or a rescue can always become enjoyable for the dog and the owners out there.
Bursting out the myth bubbles:
Before you proceed and get yourself the cutest looking German Shepherd Dog Breeds India, eliminate these myths first. Bursting the bubbles is important because you must know the breed's true nature before investing. These dogs are extremely smart, quite faithful, and know the real meaning of loyal. So, next time you plan to get your hands on some German shepherds, contact Premium Pet House for the same.

2023.03.24 06:04 AtqmFTW my GF's parents are negligent and controlling, how can I help her?

Currently the situation is like this:
Her parents and her are on a vacation. It all started when they came back from the place they were going to and then they decided to go to a Japanese restaurant. They got into an argument after she wanted to switch shoes after being out all day and her mom got upset about it for whatever reason, saying that keeping current shoes would be better (?). After a bit, her mom told her in a nasty tone about how she shouldn't complain when at the restaurant there would be no noodles and since my GF doesn't like sushi she didn't need to come since she wouldn't eat anything anyways and should just stay at the hotel alone. They then got into an argument about it and they gave her two options: A: they take her phone for 3 days WHILE OUT IN A PLACE NONE OF THEM ARE FAMILIAR WITH or B: they cancel her phone line starting tomorrow (no data, no #, etc) These punishments wouldn't be as bad if they were just at their house. But no, they're in VEGAS out of all places and wandering around places such as the Grand Canyon. Her parents don't keep an eye out for her either. They once went 10 min without her (yes this very day) before realizing they weren't together. The parents also argued with each other and separated MULTIPLE TIMES throughout the day, leaving her wandering and talking to me for comfort instead. On a public bus, they sat together and left her to sit alone in the back as well. They never tell her plans, or as to what the hell they're doing, either. Point is, they don't look after her and make it seem like everything's her problem and giving her phone up in this scenario is just unsafe considering the circumstances.
Some background:
Her dad is very absent in her life. Although they live together, he has 0 social skills, never really interacted with her, and just sits in his home office all day when they were home. He never really looks after her, and when her mom was out in another country bc of family, he did not take care of her well at all. No cooking, no check ups, or anything that a "normal" parent would have or do. He is basically acting as only the financial support of the family.
Her mom is a very stubborn woman. She does not like to listen to other people and change the things she does, and thinks that everyone but her is in the wrong. She is a teacher at our school, seems like somewhat nice person but the stubbornness still shows. They get into arguments on the daily. She also has a limited allowance of 100$ per month(She has to buy her essentials w these, not just to fuck around w. Ex: clothes, skincare, makeup, etc). If she is on her phone or trying to do homework past her bedtime (10:00) she gets punished for It (lose money in allowance, phone taken away, cancelled phone line, etc). Talking with her does not do anything, as she says to just go to a foster home if she doesn't like the way things are here. Basically, she doesn't listen, doesn't want to change, egotistical, and thinks she's always right and blames others for problems.
Overall, these problems have been recurring almost weekly and each time it has made my GF more unstable. Her mom refused to get her a therapist bc "they have one at school" but you wouldn't use those for obvious reasons.
What is the best way I can support her in a situation like this?
Feel free to leave questions below

2023.03.24 06:01 Odd_Ad_7345 I’m treated like an idiot, and maybe I am one.

I moved to another country. And I would like to start off by saying I absolutely love it here. I live in a beautiful town. I love my job and the work I do so much.
But I’m treated like an idiot by my coworkers. My job here doesn’t require me to know the country’s language. However, I have spent over a year learning the language, and I have been studying non-stop since the day I arrived here (5 months ago). My language abilities have significantly improved, especially my listening and reading. My output, however, is still extremely poor. So no matter how much I understand, I can’t convey that to my coworkers. I just babble out shitty broken grammar and mispronunciations. That in turn has led them to believe I am stupid. They will avoid me to try not to talk to me, and when they do they try, they translate every single word into english, even simple ones. I have to constantly tell them I understand what they are saying. They still refuse to speak their native language and try to continue to speak in English. This leads to even more confusion because their English is frankly, just as bad as when I try to speak to them in their language if not worse. No now I am reduced to things like “NOW. LUNCH TIME. SHOPPING OR GO HOME?”. A sentence I could easily understand but yet for some reason no matter how many times I try to say I understand they just can’t believe it. It makes me feel like a child. I wish they would hear me when I say I know the word, or even say the word they are looking for in their own language. But nothing works.
The worst part is, when truly important things come up, the meetings are of course being conducted in very advanced language that I cant understand. so the very moment that I do need help no one tells me anything. and its not like i can know whether or not something important has come up in the first place because i didn’t understand the meeting at all. I Just now I missed a VERY IMPORTANT introduction from a new member of the team and I didn’t even know they were coming today. My boss doesn’t even give me memos because they assume I cant read it so why bother giving it to me. I would have known they were coming if I had been given it today.
So now I really do look like the idiot. And yes, before you even say it: I have told them multiple times that they dont have to use english with me in casual conversations, and I have of coursed asked after meetings for a brief summary. I am doing my part to my best ability I am just so tired of being treated like a fucking moron.

2023.03.24 06:00 Candid_Funny5994 AITA for not driving a bridesmaid to the wedding

I (25 F) am a GUEST at a wedding for a college friend. Other friends are going, including a bridesmaid. The wedding is 90min from where my family lives and I was initially planning on staying there and going back home after the wedding day. The bridesmaid/ friend is from across the country and is flying to stay with me that week. She doesn’t have a car. She asked me a few weeks ago to accompany her as her plus one at the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. That is all the information she gave me about the rehearsal dinner so I agreed, thinking it was going to be closer to home and we could easily go back after. I am now finding out that she wants me to drive her 90 min to the rehearsal dinner so she can stay the night there in a hotel and I have to drive back home 90 min that night just to do it again the next day for the wedding. That is 5 hrs, not including the 13 hours the day before I have to drive to get to my parents house. Now I feel like she’s just using me for a ride. I think it’s the brides and bridesmaid responsibility to figure that out and coordinate travel plans with other members of the wedding party. The bridesmaid is now mad at me because she doesn’t want to get a rental car and now is forced to because she doesn’t have anyone else to take her. Thoughts?

2023.03.24 05:59 Greenbean2015 Choosing between Thinkpad P52 with 32gb rm and Ideapad with 16gb ram but better processor

New Ideapad 5 15", Ryzen 5625u (Passmark 15038), 16gb 3200mhz ddr4, Internal radeon graphics
I have the ideapad but I'm considering exchanging for The ThinkPad. The Thinkpad is slightly more expensive but I really want the trackpoint and extra ram. It's hard to find any laptop sub $1600CAD with 32gb ram.
The Ideapad is great. I've installed Halo Infinite for testing and it's running great for my needs. Lightroom and chrome with dozens of tabs are running well but I'm running near 90% of ram usage.
Will the loss in processor performance be that noticeable? Will I get a bump in GPU performance with the Quadro P1000. I'm having trouble tracking down benchmarks on the integrated GPU of the 5625u.
What about the speed of the ram?
Thank you

You’ve stumbled across this page for a reason.
It’s not because you’ve heard of this crazy new business model called ‘SMMA’ and it’s not because you’re struggling to sign your first client.
It’s because you’re exasperated. You’re frustrated. And you know you can do better. You’re stuck in a pair of “golden handcuffs”: running a mildly-successful agency but beholden to your clients, your staff, and your phone.
You’ve broken the one inviolable rule of running an agency and not kept a full pipeline.
You know that you can reach the upper echelon of agency owners making six-and-seven figures, whilst working less than six-and-seven hours a week. You just don’t know how… My name’s Iman Gadzhi and since 2017, I’ve run IAG Media. In this time, I’ve worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, enjoyed six-figure months and made my clients millions.
I’ve also lost multiple clients in a row, been over-worked and chained to the agency that I started to give me freedom.
All the while, I’ve refined, tweaked and optimized my agency whilst also creating – the world’s largest education company for agency owners.
But in early 2020, I realised there was a problem. For every beginner agency owner desperate to sign their first client, there were three experienced agency owners desperate for guidance, systems and processes, and a solution to their broken agency model.
It’s why I created Copy Paste Agency…
…not so I can show you how to sign a client or perform basic outreach.
So you could take, copy and paste the exact methods I use in my own agency into your agency. Copy Paste Agency students learn:
How I continue to run a multiple-six-figure agency from home with a skeleton staff and minimal expenses.
How to command higher retainers… and retain those clients for longer.
How to automate, delegate, and optimize every area of your agency from lead generation and sales to service delivery and client communication.
Plus get access to the latest tools and software used by my own agency, IAG Media such as reporting templates.
