2023.03.29 02:17 Caliartist What can be done?
Hi all! I'll try to be brief but I may ramble a bit. Quick info on me, I'm a master carpenter, I've been working in museums, theatres, and art galleries for 20+ yrs. I built homes and did finish work before that.
I often get high quality wood straight from lumber yards when I need something specific, but for general, rough construction, I do still go to Lowes or HD. My local HD sucks, bad, but its 3 miles closer than Lowes. So, for the last few years I've only gone to Lowes after HD pissed me off. Lowes was always cleaner, better stocked, with more employees, and better customer service. I'd say it was that way all the way up to maybe 2019? Maybe even 2020.
(telling my self to keep it short) So today, I had a delivery of lumber from Lowes. A bunch of 2x12x12's for stair stringers, and various studs and trim boards. After it was dropped I started going through it to find about 40% of the wood was split or twisted beyond use. Not just an end grain check, but split that it won't pass code inspection.
I called to have the split pieces returned and replaced. I spoke to a nice woman who set up the pickup. After an hour or two, I found some more damage and tried to call back. This is where it got fun. The robo system kept bouncing me around, from delivery, to pro desk, back to delivery, no one was picking up. It rang so long the call dropped. I called again, same story. I went to lunch and tried after. After another 5-10m, I get ahold of customer service. He transfers me... again it rings till the call drops. You get it, ya? I called for a solid hour, put the phone on speaker and went back to drawing plans even. No one picked up. Then I came here and found /lowes reddit. I saw someone mention the MOD hack for the robo answer. I asked for MOD and it worked, but again, just rang and no one picked up. 2 more calls later, I get the same customer service guy from earlier. He apologized. He said that they are so short staffed people have just unplugged their phones! (lol) I asked what could be done, I just want to modify the return and order, he said nothing, that no one who is around could help. I asked what I should do. He suggested that I bring the wood in person. (talking 2,000 lbs of wood or more, thats why I had it delivered). I said I can't do that and so we agreed that I'd just call tomorrow and hopefully get the woman from delivery before it got loaded.
Lowes used to be the higher quality store, out of the big box stores, in terms of lumber, customer service, and store professionalism. The last two years have seen a drastic decline in everything Lowes offers. It is frustrating to see as a customer and I'm sure its soul crushing for employees. I've spoken to the store manager even and he just acted (maybe truly) like his hands were completely tied. He couldnt do any hiring, he couldn't cull the bad lumber that is going out, he was just as defeated as the customer service rep I spoke to.
TL:DR: I used to shop at Lowes when HD pissed me off. The last couple years, Lowes has gotten so short staffed that they end up being worse in most respects. I feel for the employees. I do. How the hell can customers pressure admin/corporate to hire more?! You guys need to be paid more, to retain talented people, and need to do a massive hiring. (which needs to pay well to attract good people). Prices are crazy high, the earnings are up, why do employees and customers both have to suffer! (I know why, but c'mon how can we pressure to change this?!)

2023.03.29 02:14 Fair_Raccoon7618 Work Stress is spilling over - any advice? 😀
My current office has a number of things which I believe are toxic and my mental health has taken a toll. It seems to get worse as time goes by which is causing concern.
To provide some context - I am 25 years old and work as a land surveyor at an engineering consultancy in New Zealand. The company I work for is a large firm with around 12 offices and requested a transfer from the one in the big city (Auckland) to the one in my home city around two years ago. I have been struggling to cope with anxiety since high school and Auckland was too stressful a place to live in for me (one of the top 5 most expensive cities to live in the world, crazy traffic and I found the people to be unfriendly). The office itself was great though and I fit in to the team well, but I was living with older, random flatmates. The flat became hostile and I decided I am better suited to living alone with my partner, but everything in Auckland was either too expensive or an hour out of town. Hence the move home.
When I arrived home, things reversed. The city itself is nice (although people still aren’t the friendliest), but the office is way stricter. My colleagues are nice enough but there is a culture of bossiness and tattle tales, particularly when it comes to health and safety. For example, as soon as I started, a girl I was working with decided that the way I was working was unsafe (even though it’s how I did things in Auckland) and reported it to higher management. Around 5 people from multiple offices got in trouble and I was shipped off to a meeting room with three levels of managers where I was made to feel incompetent at my job and made an example of. My survey manager is also nice enough, but he doesn’t listen to anyone’s ideas and talks over us. In Auckland I worked overtime (which I don’t mind doing as long as I’m paid), and all my extra effort got approved. In Tauranga every single overtime hour I have worked has been declined. They are obsessed with cutting costs and send you timesheet reminders two days before they are due. I’m often in the field so don’t get a chance to do this which results in further trouble.
My manager gives me feedback after every job, and although it’s aimed to be constructive, in two years not one bit has been positive. I’m not the greatest surveyor in the world but I sure as hell am not bad at my job. I get anxiety whenever a review comes up now.
Basically, I don’t feel like I fit in with their office culture which I believe is toxic. This is the tip of the iceberg and there are other things but I won’t share them now. But I find myself waking up in work days with dread and negativity. Now I just be polite but struggle to talk to anyone face to face.
I want to find another job but I’m really bad with my finances. Luckily there are plenty of jobs in my industry but the cost of living here is also high and a lot of middle income earners are doing it tough too. Moving into the regions would be cheaper but that’s months away to scrape together a bond.
I now hate my job but am not fond of the idea or cost of moving. I like the idea of moving to a firm where surveyors are less the outcasts and the scales of projects are smaller and more fulfilling, but I fear that I’d feel like an imposter wherever I’d go.
Any advice for this sad Kiwi? Am I overreacting? Would the effort of a move be worth escaping the perfect corporate servant my employer wants me to be? Do I leave my job I spent four years and $60k of student loan studying for? Do I look at moving countries with my girlfriend and escaping it all? All I want is for things to get better and to be around a happy, constructive bunch for 40+ hours a week, so any feedback is welcomed by me ☺️

2023.03.29 02:14 23yo1di0t 22 (M) married 3 years w/ 22 (F)
Obviously the first thought I’d assume everyone would have is that we got married too young. Our relationship hasn’t really been peaceful for too much of the 3 years and even when we were dating prior. I was in a situation where we were each others firsts while dating so I thought it was my obligation to make it work. I think our marriage really started to fall apart with having our kid with resentment on my end because I feel as I was handed the option within 5-6 months of marriage that we’d only be intimate if it was to get pregnant which has been ongoing since our son except I haven’t caved this time. (Intimate 3-4 times a year without that stipulation)
Since having a child work is no longer an option and she’s just told me that she is staying home indefinitely (been home around 2 years currently). This is a big issue for me as I’m very career driven and want a financially stable life. I have asked and almost begged for her to go back to work, but her reasoning is that she does not trust daycares. With that I’ve suggested in-home and that’s even worse in her eyes. It’s gotten to the point where I cannot bring it up without it being an argument as she’s firm in her stance.
She used to regularly hit me or grab me digging her nails into me leaving marks when we’d argue stating I’d make her snap; but has since gotten relatively better to where it probably only happens 4-5 times a year as of this past year. I think as she’s made improvement on this so maybe eventually it stops all together. However I do think this has dramatically effected me being affectionate towards her which in turn has made her resent me. When I say affectionate her love language is acts of kindness and I’ve fallen off pretty hard in that category basically after the first year in our marriage.
I have suggested marriage counseling numerous times over the past two years but she refusing stating that she doesn’t want someone to know all of our business essentially. I’m unsure if it’d even be effective as I’d have to skip around the parts of her hitting me as that’d make her quit immediately as she’s embarrassed about it.
Where I’m having problems: I have a son and she stated in an argument last month where I asked for a divorce that she’d take full custody and move back to her family. I feel like I’m destroying her life and my sons life if I leave but I really feel like we aren’t setting up a good environment for our son whatsoever. I just don’t know if him growing up with separated parents is better than growing up with parents that are roommates. I really do believe we’re both only in the marriage at this point to provide stability for our son and we’re hoping it eventually just fixes itself. I really do not want to set her up for failure in a divorce and will be trying to financially support her in the process as much as possible as she’d probably receive primary care of our son. She is on the title of our home (I’m alone on the loan) (100k equity) and I believe would elect to just give it to me, but I’d prefer to probably just scrub everything so there’s nothing other than our son binding us.
I guess my question is have I exhausted all my options in making this work? If divorce is the final choice how do I actually ensure I don’t get talked out of it (shes suggested it regularly for awhile but I think she’s realized the seriousness when I finally suggested it this past month).
Note: Throw away account as she does go through my phone (just to see what I’m doing I guess? Never cheated or showed any signs) will check tomorrow and response if needed.

2023.03.29 02:13 gatorbone7 Gas mileage on NX 350h?
My wife has had her 2023 NX hybrid for about 1 month. She’s only averaging about 30 mpg. That seems low considering her mix of city and highway driving.
Anyone else has similar performance? Any reason to think it’s going to improve over time?
For reference, she’s using premium unleaded.

2023.03.29 02:13 ilovesexyitalianmen TIFU by sending a stupid selfie to Gurdeep.
I work at this swanky-ass photo studio that specializes in high-end portraits for rich people. It's a dope job, but the pressure is real, and the customers are nothing but a bunch of old jack-asses.
One day, me and my co-workers decided to take some goofy-ass selfies. I snapped this one pic of myself with my tongue sticking out, it came up looking cross eyed, and shit like one of my cross eyed friend and we thought it was hilarious. So, I emailed it to myself to save it for later.
Fast forward a few days, and I'm hustling, getting some sample shots done for customers. I'm all up in my own head, trying to get shit done, when I accidentally attach that same dumb-ass selfie to one of the emails.
At first, I didn't notice what the fuck had happened. I just hit send and kept it moving. But then, I got this reply from the customer, and they were heated, yo. Like, they were cursing me out and shit, calling me unprofessional shit.
They name was Gurdeep and he was like yo motherfuker I’ll fuck you!
I said, “I don’t swing that way, I’m sorry I meant to send this to another client.”
He said, “fuck you motherfucker I see your white face and I know it is you fucker.”
So I keep apologizing as per company policy but the man is under no control.
I tried to convince him the picture was funny, but they wasn’t hearing it. Gurdeep even threatened to leave a bad review on Yelp. I was sweating bullets, thinking I was gonna get fired or something.
And that wasn't even the worst of it. See, I had another potential fuck up lurking in my ass. One of my co-workers asked me to send a sample shot of this family portrait to a customer, but I accidentally sent them the wrong damn photo. It was a pic of some other family, and they didn’t even look good.
I was so tired from dealing Gurdeep that I didn't realize my other fuck up. Now, this other customer was hella confused and pissed off, and I had to do some serious damage control.
On my way home from work, I was texting my girl about how much of a shitty day I had. I was venting and shit, not really paying attention to what I was saying.
Next thing I know, I hear this horn blaring behind me, and I look up to see that I'm driving in the wrong lane. I had completely drifted over, and if that other car hadn't honked, I might have gotten a free pass to Lil Peep.
I swerved back into my lane and pulled over to catch my breath. I was shaking like a fucking pussy, realizing how close I had come to fucking up my life more. But that wasn't even the end of it.
When I got home, I tried to chill and watch some TV to forget about my shitty ass moves. But then, I spilled a whole-ass bowl of chili on my gf’s new off white rug. I was so mad that I punched the wall and put a hole in it.
Now the girl was mad that there was a whole in the wall and chilli in her rug so she up and went to her mom’s house.
TL;DR So, there you have it. One stupid-ass selfie, a pissed off customer, almost causing a car accident, and ruining my brand new rug. It was a bad day, to say the least. But hey, shit happens, right?
Edit: Gurdeep is one of my fav customers now but that’s a different story.

2023.03.29 02:13 GorKoresh 32M Need help with vitamin selection
32M, 6', 190lbs, no smoking, drinking, or drugs. Low vitamin D (15). I've been vegan about 8 years.
After my most recent blood work I found out I'm pretty low on Vitamin D (15). I've started taking a vegan Vitamin D3 5000IU supplement each day, and I'm planning to start a vegan multivitamin too. I know multivitamins are hotly contested, but I don't see any harm, and it might help improve my energy and concentration levels along with the D supplements. All my other levels were normal including B12 and iron.
I'm debating between two vegan multivitamins. One has iron (9 mg as ferrous fumarate) while the other does not. I'd prefer to buy and take the one with iron for other reasons, but I'm worried it might be too much iron if I'm already sufficient. Is there any danger in taking a multivitamin with 9mg of Iron if I'm not low on iron per my most recent blood work? I asked my PCP and they kind of brushed it off and said, "take a different one if you're worried about it", but that doesn't really answer my question.

Vancouver, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - March 28, 2023) - Aftermath Silver Ltd. (TSXV: AAG) (OTCQX: AAGFF) (the "Company" or "Aftermath Silver") is pleased to provide an update on the Berenguela silver-copper-manganese project in southern Peru.
On March 2nd, 2023 the Company published an updated and expanded mineral resource for the property (see AAG News release dated March 1, 2023). Drilling in 2021-2 was in part designed to obtain bulk (PQ diameter) core samples from various geological and metallurgical domains at Berenguela. A comprehensive bench-test beneficiation program on selected composite core samples is being designed by Kappes Cassidy of Reno, Nevada, USA, focusing on optimising processing and recoveries of silver, manganese, copper, and zinc, and on potential manganese products including agricultural and battery grade manganese sulphate (MnSO4).The Company currently anticipates completion of the program in Q3/Q4 of 2023. The results will provide key technical inputs for Aftermath's planned Preliminary Economic Analysis which is expected to begin in late 2023.
Composite core samples, representing the key mineralized domains, are now being assembled at the Company's core storage facility in Arequipa. They will be shipped to KCA's facility in Reno to facilitate pre-treatment beneficiation testing which will include ore-sorting. As a first step, initial visual evaluations are being carried out on core samples from current and historic drilling focusing on the distribution of various minerals and their relationship with assay grades.
Fieldwork is expected to recommence in June with exploration and mapping east of the known mineralisation on potential extensions indicated by outcrops, historic drilling and existing underground workings. The work will also investigate a potential intrusive centre to the east of the main Berenguela mineralization. Bereguela Mineral Resource
The Mineral Resource at Berenguela, reported in accordance with National Instrument 43‐101 ("NI 43‐101") and completed by AMC Mining Consultants (Canada) Ltd. ("AMC") contains 101.2 Moz Ag + 589 Mlbs CU+ 2.45Mt Mn in Measured and Indicated Resources and 38.8 Moz Ag + 204 Mlbs Cu + 0.8Mt Mn in Inferred Resources detailed in the table below and in Aftermaths news release dated March 2nd, 2023 (linked here https://tinyurl.com/mrxhckk3

- CIM Definition Standards (2014) were used for reporting the Mineral Resources.
- The effective date of the estimate is 31 January 2023.
- The Qualified Person is Dinara Nussipakynova, P.Geo., of AMC Mining Consultants (Canada) Ltd.
- Mineral Resources are constrained by an optimized pit shell using the assumptions in Table 2.
- No dilution or mining recovery applied.
- Silver equivalency (AgEq) formula is AgEq = Ag+ Cu%\121.905+Mn%*22.809+Zn%*41.463 based on the parameters in Table 2.*
- Cut-off grade is 80g/t AgEq.
- Bulk density used was estimated and variable. but averaged 2.30 tonnes/m\*3* for mineralized material and 2.25 tonnes/m\*3* for waste.
- Drilling results up to 13 October 2022.
- Mineral Resources that are not Mineral Reserves do not have demonstrated economic viability.
- The numbers may not compute exactly due to rounding.
- Mineral Resources are depleted for historic mined out material.
- The relative value in the Mineral Resource by metal is as follows, Ag=26% Cu=26%, Mn=44%, Zn=4%.
Source: AMC, (2023)
The assumptions for the open pit optimization exercise to constrain the Mineral Resource and confirm reasonable prospects for eventual economic extraction are shown in Table 2. Table 2. Source: AMC, (2023). Geology
Mineralization at Berenguela is hosted principally in thickly bedded, folded limestones and dolomitized limestones of mid-Cretaceous age. Several large bodies of black massive, patchy, and fracture-controlled manganese oxide replacement mineralization occur, with associated silver, copper, and zinc enrichment. Mineralisation is stratigraphically localised above a regional detachment zone particularly where footwall horsts coincide with more intense folding of the carbonate hosts.
The bulk of the mineralisation is typically preserved as eroded synform remnants, usually exposed at surface and trending 105-120 degrees. Mapping and resource modelling shows the mineralisation to extend for roughly 1,300 m along strike (including a 100 m discontinuity) with a width of 200 to 400 m. Drilling has shown the mineralisation to extend to up to 80 m below surface where preserved.
Berenguela is interpreted as a carbonate replacement deposit (CRD) of an unusual hypogene Mn-oxide style localised above a regional detachment zone in a low temperature, oxidising setting. Qualified Person

2023.03.29 02:11 TheTrueRetroCarrot How much have consumer laser printers improved since 2008...?
So I have a Dell 1320c that's out of toner. Very low hours on it, first set of cartridges it ever ran through and still prints well. Most of what I print is artwork which I use inkjet for and it's great. However due to paper availability I want to have the option of using the laser for certain things.
The clarity seems pretty good on this printer, color reproduction is pretty weak, enough for most of my needs. I'm wondering if modern consumer laser printers of a similar price-point $4-500ish, have improved much, especially in color output? I'm assuming I will never get close to inkjet for photo/color prints with a consumer laser. The print resolution and specs look basically the same on everything I'm seeing, but that doesn't mean much.

2023.03.29 02:10 meep_launcher Is Seattle in a low point? Here me out-
First, I believe that all cities have boom and bust cycles, and these can pertain to different sectors. In Seattle it seems much of the discussion is on homelessness, corporate growth/ greed (depending on who you ask), gentrification, environmental issues, social issues- you get the idea.
I grew up in Seattle until I moved to Chicago in 2018. The unaffordable rent and lack of performance arts opportunities pushed me to this city. There is a lot about Chicago I love, but I am a proud Seattleite- I was once roasted by "I would know meep was from Seattle even if he didn't talk about it all the time".
I returned to live with my folks during pandemic (everything that makes Chicago great makes it horrible in a pandemic - it's a social city), and for that year I saw the hottest temperatures on record, the sun blotted out of the sky, and development after development of yuppie housing. The art markets i knew had all died off long ago (first Thursday at pioneer square, the 619 building) and some comedy and theater have been lost (Jet city improv).
When I moved to Chicago, I found SO MANY Seattle ex-pats in the arts, and they all say they were run out of town by the rent. The homeless situation in Chicago is miniscule- not because of the winters, but because of robust government and non profit networks and a lower barrier to entry for housing.
I teach grades 1-3 music, and one kid said he was going to Seattle on vacation. I got SO PUMPED for him. I told him my memories of growing up in the forests of pre-developed Sammamish, the water from the tap that was like Fuji water, the air that was so clean, the markets and the shows I would see. I stopped there, because I feel like the next sentence would be "and then the Amazonians attacked".
My hope is this is a low point, and after the housing market is killed and tech decides to move to Bellevue, Seattle can return to that shining emerald diamond on that shining Salish Sea.
TL;DR, this ended up being more of a vent than a question, but Seattle lost so much of it's soul to the tech boom, and global warming is choking the most beautiful place on earth. Does this seem fair? What might fix this shit?
I will return to Seattle like Napoleon to France- I have a very personal war with Bezos (or anyone living in Medina).

2023.03.29 02:08 ThrowRA_88292 I (19M) just broke up with my girlfriend (19F) and I don’t know if I am regretting it or not
Throwaway because she knows my usual reddit. I really need advice on this situation so any will help!
We have been dating for a year and a half, we met in highschool and moved to a different city to live together for University. We both came out of toxic relationships not too long before we started ours and that is why I think we had so many problems.
- Our sex life wasn’t the best to begin with, we both have different libidos (mine is low and hers is high) I take antidepressants that suppress my sex drive. She craves sex all the time because the only way she felt loved by a past partner was through sex. I on the other hand did not feel comfortable having sex with her because I would be feeding into that toxic mentality. We have talked about it many, many times trying to figure out what would make me more sexual and nothing has stuck. We became distant and hostile towards each other because we didn’t feel loved by each other. I have never had a consensual sexual relationship with anyone, therefore my low libido and this has almost completely shattered any sexual desire. She insisted she doesn’t want me to force myself, but kept on getting mad and upset with me when we didn’t have sex for a while. I started to feel like a horrible boyfriend and very low about my self-esteem.
- Once we started to live together we set goals for each other to do. This included who would do the laundry, dishes, etc. Over time I began to be the only one who did anything around the house. I only got help from her once in a while and a promise that she would help me next time. We got 2 kittens, she promised to help clean the litter and feed them. I ended up with the sole responsibility of taking care of them, when we agreed on equal help. I feel like i am her caregiver and not her boyfriend. I love doing things for her but not taking care of everything 24/7. It’s exhausting.
- Our communication skills weren’t the best, we would go silent, pick fights and eventually just forgive and forget. We never really talked out an issue. She said she would purposely start fights with me because she was upset about other things like our sex life. Which only brought me more anxiety and depression.
With all of this in mind I became overwhelmed and had my breaking point. I planned out what i can do with my mother and she has helped me figure future things out. With a plan, I then broke up with her in our apartment. She was upset and distraught. I was standing my ground for a while until she started bringing up the good times we had. It broke me, i started to question if i really wanted to leave. She made promises that she would do better in every aspect and I kept telling myself she’s not thinking this out logically. So, I told her I was going home for a couple of days to think about everything. I don’t know what to do now. I have my mom who is willing to help me move out and i figured out another place to live in my budget. I have everything to leave but i am second guessing myself. What do i do?

2023.03.29 02:08 AJ_FISHER Intermittent Hypoxic Breathing, Fact or Fancy?
Why in the world does someone who deprives themselves of oxygen enhance their physical and mental capacity? One would think that hypoxia is always going to lead to a place of ill health, such as in sleep apnea and traumatic incidents such as stroke and heart-attack. Yes, depriving oneself of oxygen SEVERELY is not good, but climbing a mountain where the oxygen molecules are more spaced out, which results in lowered blood oxygen of between 75-89%, the scientific community has observed wildly beneficial health effects…just do NOT climb Mount Everest without adapting yourself as this would lead to acute mountain sickness.
It’s all about dosing. If you were to run sprints for 8 hours each night instead of sleeping, you would end up ill and injured. The same is true with oxygen dosing.
If you lower your blood oxygen to 75-90% for between 5 and 60 minutes 3-4x a week, the literature shows positive results in both mental and physical capacity, but go down to 50% blood oxygen, and you could move into maladaptation and the danger zone. Russian researchers have been studying the positive effects of hypoxic training for more than 7 decades with conclusive positive results in the areas of cognition, cardiovascular health, body composition, and metabolism. If it’s so great, why don’t more of us do it? The answer is: it is expensive both in time and money to go to a chamber or climb a mountain. I am lucky enough to work with several clients who have put chambers in their homes, which has served as a wonderful method of studying older individuals exposed to hypoxia! But, for most of us, that is not feasible…So how can we accomplish this? Intermittent Hypoxic Breathing is a method that has become popularized by the WimHof method.
This method has been shown to improve the body’s immune response amongst many other benefits. Can the amount of time spent in hypoxia mimic that of altitude training? The duration of hypoxia with breath-work is not the same and there is another key difference: with our breath, we have the ability to increase our carbon dioxide levels as we decrease oxygen, which has unique benefits vs. the traditionally low carbon dioxide that exists when at altitude. This low carbon dioxide is due to hyperventilation (over-breathing) to get oxygen in when the air pressure decreases, the air molecules that spread apart force us to have to breathe harder to get the oxygen in. This creates a state of alkalosis (raised pH) in our body. This is NOT conducive to maximizing your muscle metabolism while working out. WimHof method also uses hyperventilation and breath-holds to lower blood oxygen quite a bit, but I have found anecdotally that sometimes the oxygen goes too low because of the low carbon dioxide not being used as a catalyst to breathe sooner.
The methodology that I prefer is to hypoventilation (made popular by Buteyko and researcher Xavier Woorons) in combination with breath retentions, so that the carbon dioxide rises in the body, and the breath-hold is limited because of the intense signal from carbon dioxide rising in the body. This allows us to more effectively go into a state of hypoxia with carbon dioxide levels high enough to increase blood flow to the brain and other vital organs. Carbon dioxide is a vasodilator and higher levels will increase blood flow to many parts of the body during exercise vs. decrease it, potentially causing dysfunctional muscles during exercise! A current hypothesis is: using slowed breathing frequency during exercise has the ability to increase blood flow to vital organs and working muscles. The technique I use is a physiological sigh in conjunction with exercises…followed by a variety of lengths of SHORT retentions based on your level. From my informal and FORMAL research (through NYIT and American Public University), I have been able to show that the blood oxygen is perfected with this breathing technique at 80-90% blood oxygen for the majority of the workout! I rarely witness a person going TOO low as in the WImHof method, which begs the question: can we achieve altitude training results from breath-work? More research is needed in this area, but Cyclic Apneas have been shown in formal research to increase HIF-1 in the body, which is the catalyst to incite the growth factor necessary for both mental and physical enhancement from this style of training. Is it fact or fancy?
From my anecdotal experience, it is fact…the scientific world would say it is still fancy UNTIL more conclusions are drawn…this is why I am on a mission to be part of the first research team to devote 100% of our energies to elucidating more answers. We will be publishing and going to conferences next year, so sit tight for more details!

2023.03.29 02:06 No-Dragonfruit-2676 This is a Golden Age, or at least a real good plastic age
| || | submitted by No-Dragonfruit-2676 to tropico [link] [comments]
the vast majority that live here have the highest happiness freedom rings true here in tropico and i found a way to make nearly everyone super happy
86% of my total pop is the happiest it can possibly be
so how did i do this the answer is a simple 3 part idea that all revolves around the best child healthcare i can find to create this you will need the following
- Spitter- you need the beauty farm from here
- New Frontiers- you need the capsule home and likely the fusion reactor
buildings and resources
- a highly effective education system
- several different consumer and lux industries i have 9 different foods and like 5-6 consumer and lux goods with the highlights being my electronics and uranium exports
- malls maxed out on budget and having the two upgrades one per 500 or so well off plus persons
- capsule homes 5 layers high set to the 2nd workmode and upgraded with the elevators supported by subways, fast food joints ( 2nd WM and paused) and a fire station set to cat in tree
- Haia sophia ( no death by low healthcare)
- 6 Moai heads ( faster freighter speeds )
- statue of liberty ( all immigrants spawn maxed happiness and max support)
likely what readers of mine will recall is that this idea looks eerily similar to the mall only idea but i have made some serious improvements for one while it is true that with this build no one will die of low healthcare children's happiness is largely weighted in favor of being healthy and the problem with children and healthiness is the following. using this strategy you are encouraged to run the lifes work constitution option and that heavily exposes children to pollution and the problem here is this
children spend the first 7 years just in home and keep in mind that homes ( even capsule towers) create pollution it is not much but when just a little pollution is spread over years like this healthcare will take a hit and the AI only really takes over around the age of 7 at this point now the child can enroll in school and go to school and home . starting at age 14 children can go work and based on my industry layout you can imagine the amount of pollution in that area. which brings me to my first realization that because children cant go to the mall and do my mall trick what can we do well the answer is not churches or cathedrals but hospitals set to max budget running in ambulatory mode and set up with hospital wings, now at this point these hospitals provide 98 health and have a very very fast processing time so now your children are Super Happy ( in part because of the goods the parents bought at malls) and in part because of the hospital systems
so now that we have made kids super healthy how can we give the Perception that our adults are healthy even when they aren't, beauty farms set to 2nd workmode, this building is unique in that it disallows children so now as long as a majority of your working population are rich ( which they most likely will be after doing this build) then adults
can go get faith which generally leads to partners and future family units. so then how do we get more family units
the answer is statue of liberty moai heads and colleges set up with brain sells the idea is that you can import students and support them with Social Security and the average wage will eventually rise to $15/ supported agent this wage will make students likely well off and as such they can buy from the mall, and pay full price at hospitals and remember even on max eff colleges still take a bit to graduate someone . the fact is that being a student is also a job and now you are giving more people more opportunities to form family units as some of my readers will be curious as to how this strategy affects my economic performance please observe the following
have fun by making high quality plastic ages and Viva Tropico
2023.03.29 02:06 SadPSO Question About Annual Performance Review - PSO at CPP/OAS - Call Centre
Good day everyone,
I've been with Service Canada since August 2022, at first in training for 3 months at Employment Insurance (EI) and immediately after in training for Canada Pension Plan/Old Age Security (CPP/OAS) due to a higher demand for another 3 months, until February 2023. I've been working on the phones since mid February but I'm still technically in what's called Post Training Monitoring (PTM) where my calls are listened and I have to pass certain things. Today I had my first performance review and even though my Team Lead gave me amazing feedback and had found no points that needed improvement, still rated me as "Succeeded -" and explained that all PSOs receive the same rating because they are still in training and their full potential essentially could not be assessed because of that. When asked if future managers would know why it's rated as "Succeeded -" the answer was yes.
Can anyone confirm or have any advise on how to treat this situation?
Many thanks in advance.

2023.03.29 02:05 zatrey73 Second Bachelors or Cross the fingers for grad school?
Math major in undergrad, want to be a Mechanical Engineer. Second Bachelors seems like the only route
Graduated in 2021 with a math degree from a flagship school in Texas, but didn’t start there. I originally was intending to start at a good school in California for Aerospace Engineering, but family problems led me to move back to Texas. Got into the Texas flagship school as a mathematics major, but have always been an engineer at heart. Did competitive robotics since age 10 through high school, as well as a plethora of Engineering Internships. However once I was in the school, I discovered just how hard it was to transfer into engineering dept (nearly impossible). I tried my best, however due to the same circumstances that I moved back for, ultimately led to a extremely low GPA, and getting into the Engineering department now seemed like a long shot.
Ended up graduating with said math degree with a 2.67 GPA due to depression, and family problems back home, and am looking for some guidance. I currently work and am able to do a bachelors degree program online for Mechanical Engineering (Through University of Alabama) but it would take me about 4 more years due to the progression of the courses. I’m feeling pretty disappointed with myself, because I have the know how of mechanical engineering and know exactly how to be a great one, but I’m just going through the motions on how to become a mechanical engineer without said degree. My options are pretty limited with my GPA, considered doing a masters program in Engineering online however, I simply just don’t have the GPA for these programs. Any advice on how to navigate the tough path ahead?
TLDR: graduated with a math degree/low GPA due to unfortunate family circumstances and have always wanted to become a mechanical engineer. Basically have two options: Go back for a second bachelors online, or cross my fingers that A graduate school accepts.

2023.03.29 02:05 sleepyshipper Gluten free recipe ideas? Recipes good for high cholesterol and diabetes?
I'll just preface this by saying 99% of my diet originally consisted of sandwiches, pasta and other junk foods that had gluten in it (think stuff like frozen buffalo wings, burritos, etc).
I found out roughly a year ago (after experimenting with my diet) that I basically have a sensitivity to gluten. It's not so extreme to the point I can't eat anything that's been potentially contaminated with gluten, but I can't eat immense amounts of it either.
I've been struggling to figure out what sort of things to cook, because I'm not a very good cook. I literally gave myself food poisoning 4 times alone last year as a result of messing up chicken 4 different times (needless to say, I got myself a meat thermometer after the 4th time).
It's kind of leaving me between a rock and a hard place, as I'm not a very creative cook either. I've mostly stuck to eating a lot of potato based dishes and spaghetti (with gluten free noodles) as they're the only things I know how to reliably cook (without giving myself food poisoning). But it's getting old and I can't sustain myself on spaghetti and potatoes forever, so I'd like to switch things up.
But I'm having trouble finding gluten free recipes that basically beginner friendly; or low effort in terms of prep. I'm also having trouble finding recipes that would appeal to me in particular, due to the fact I really can't taste (or smell) anything all that well. So if anyone has some spicy gluten free dish recipes, I'd welcome it.
I'd also appreciate it if anyone has some recipes to share that are also good for diabetes and high cholesterol in addition, as I'd like to be able to cook for my mom, too.
She doesn't really have any issues with gluten like I do, so she can pretty much eat things I can't. The only real restrictions she has (aside from what the diabetes and high cholesterol give her) is the fact she needs something something that'll be meaty and hearty; as she's pretty much not a fan of eating healthy under most circumstances (as it is, she only began to improve her eating habits as a result of having to accommodate my gluten-sensitivity issues). So if you have any recipes that are basically meaty (like beef, chicken, etc) and filling, that would be good for someone with diabetes and high cholesterol, I'd appreciate it.

2023.03.29 02:04 Pivot112313 Cash out whole life policy?
I took out a whole life policy in 2016 with mass mutual. Face value 100,000. Cash value 4707. Premiums are $105/month. Big picture: 40 year old divorced parent of 3. Make $80,000/year in a low cost of living area. Over $100,000 in 401k, $20k emergency fund, $100,000 equity in home, only other debt is 5K on my vehicle. I have term life insurance through my job at 5X my salary. Seems like a no brainer to me to cash out and pay off my vehicle, then begun to invest that money. Am I missing anything?

2023.03.29 02:04 EinarTheBlack Post-MOM Enemies
With Nicol Bolas' defeat in the War of the Spark and New Phyrexia's defeat in March of the Machine, I wanted to see who is left as a big threat.
Nicol Bolas and the Phyrexians both have been left a means of returning to prominence, and cannot be written off yet. However, it is unlikely they will be a threat soon.
On top of this is the possible return of Jace, Vraska, and Nahiri, who have yet to receive a definitive cure or death (with body recovered) and can be brought back to fulfill a possible villain role. However, there are some problems with this. 1.) WOTC likely won't make Phyrexians a prominent threat again for a bit. 2.) Both Nissa and Ajani were basically catatonic after Elesh Norn's defeat. It stands to reason that Jace, Vraska, and Nahiri would be as well. As such if they were to return (anytime soon), it would be that their personality is corrupted by the compleation, but that they are still active and basically become evil but not fulfilling their own agenda. An interesting note is where we leave each of them. Vraska was sent to Ravnica and Nahiri to Zendikar, both giving rise to possible new return to each of those planes. However, with Jace, it would be interesting to see our first look at Vryn if he was ALSO sent to his home plane. (All of this is pending on March of the Machine: The Aftermath of course).
Beyond these three, there are a number of other Planeswalkers who remain a threat:
Ashiok (though she was more helpful this time around).
Calix (who has shockingly NOT appeared despite supposedly hounding Elspeth).
Geyadrone Dihada (and possibly Dakkon Blackblade as a forced minion) could reappear; given Geyadrone showed up in Dominaria United it seems like she may see a more active role somewhere soonish.
Davriel Cane continues to be an enigma that SEEMS like he will make a play eventually.
Ob Nixilis continues to be a threat and villain wherever he goes, so he will definitely appear again soon.
Oko hasn't seen the light of day since his introduction (just like Calix), but who knows when he might appear again.
Tezzeret played a large role through this Phyrexian storyline, and will undoubtably appear again, but always has a side villain and playing both side, just like he always does.
Sivitri Scarzam seems like she could be an interesting threat (would be cool if she went to Tarkir), but she is barely part of the story as of yet.
And then there is the largest and most obvious threat that remains poised to strike at the multiverse: The Eldrazi. Who knows what Realmbreaker did to entice the Eldrazi to return. With all the planes having been clapped in some way by New Phyrexia, defenses seem at an all time low for the mother of all eldritch invasions to start.
We have a look at The Aftermath coming next month, then we get to return to Eldraine and Ixalan by the end of the year. Each will have their own story and will likely have some peak at how they are handling a world post-Phyrexian invasion, and how they are handling knowledge of a wider multiverse. Regardless, by the time Wilds of Eldraine comes out we should might see a possible look at the 2024 roadmap.
Where are we going next, and who will be our new big bad?
