March empties!
Cozy Linen and Nectarine really surprised me, I didn't think I would love it as much as I did! Eucalyptus Springs turned into a sooty mess and I actually only used 1/2 that candle before it was trash. Be Mine from Homeworx and Rose + Lychee are a new favs. YC Winter Night Stars was another surprise winner, lovely warm ambery scent, perfect for chilly winter into spring nights! And yes I finished Sweet Petal Pound Cake in just two weeks 😳

2023.04.01 20:27 treehippie69 I think I'm done

Trigger warning! (Sexual assault/rape)
Before this even begins, I'm aware I'm as dumb as they come. Just need to vent.
I (26f) married my husband (28m) and for the last seven years it has been nothing but heartache.
I'm not going to delve to deeply into the past, but I have been a doormat to say the least. I forgave my husband for cheating on numerous occasions, using my nudes online to exchange nudes with other women, emotional abuse, manipulation, gaslighting.
I forgave him for sexually assaulting me on countless occasions, I forgave him for raping me 3 times.
I forgave him for isolating me, hitting walls around me, throwing things near me. I forgave him for subscribing to friends only fans. (Porn of any kind is now a boundary I consider cheating.)
I forgave him for grabbing me by my neck and throwing me.
I forgave him for telling me to kill myself. For threatening to punch me in the face. For calling me every name there is in the books.
I forgave him for all the most vile things there could be.
I left one other time. We were in another fight & he ran into our bedroom slammed the door then punched a huge hole directly through it. Wood shattered everywhere & I was shaking with fear.
I moved out for 6 weeks & during that time I hung out with a lot of friends. I made friends with a guy who had just gotten out of a relationship as well. (3 weeks into seperation) We hung out often but pretty platonic for a bit, until I broke down and told him everything that was going on. He became immediate support for me. We flirted a bit & kissed once, but never anything farther. During this period we jokingly called it "friends with benefits" those benefits literally entailing just everything we needed emotionally romantically, but not physical. After everything with my husband I was repulsed by the thoughts of being sexually vulnerable with anyone again. That's what made this "FWB" so beneficial to me, he didn't want anything sexual. For a short while I considered that it could have lead to more if it had continued, because I did feel like I was beginning to heal.
Then my husband promised me change. I fell for it again. I moved home. Things seemed to be going okay, but it didn't last long of course. He found out I was hanging out with a guy while we were apart and lost his shit. I didn't go into detail with him but did admit I was hanging out with him. I assured my husband things never turned sexual. But also didn't think it was appropriate for me to be grilled about how I handled it.
I have spent every day since that (9 months) trying to just be the perfect wife. I've put every ounce of effort I have into us. All the bad habits from before began showing up again & he became so distant again..
I started internally questioning if things were going on (cheating, drugs, ???) But I didn't focus on it much because I was convinced I was just crazy.
I woke up this morning & my husband had dug through my messages with my sister & read everything about what happened 9 months ago. He told me he felt guilty because he had been watching porn (religiously) for the past month or two, so went through my phone.
But right now he's the victim! Because I didn't tell him I was starting to get feelings for the guy before I cut it off.
So like wow I think I'm done.

2023.04.01 19:38 ThePoliticalLibrary Books about workers, labor, the lower-classes, and left-wing politics in the United States and Canada (Books that are free to borrow and read online on the Internet Archive): Part 3

Disclaimer: The Internet Archive is currently undergoing litigation to determine the legality of its book lending program that is being challenged by major publishers. Impending legal action may render this list obsolete for the purpose of borrowing these books from the Internet Archive. To learn more, search up Hachette v. Internet Archive.
The format of this list previously took the form of a post with a chain of comments continuing the list due to character limits. This list is now divided into separate posts (which I believe would be easier to update and search) indicated as Part 1, Part 2, and so on.
The lending library of the Internet Archive allows you to renew your checkout immediately after the time for borrowing has elapsed, whether it's borrowable for 1 hour or 14 days. This selection of books will be updated. I recommend to those interested to check this post once a week for updates.

2023.04.01 18:20 DoubtTough6741 How my brother went to prison

Growing up I was a small kid living in a run down neighborhood. It was My Father, Brother and I living in the same house my Dad was 46, my brother was 20 and I was 7. Growing up I had this bully who I went to school with. He constantly beat on me because I was smaller than him and I didn’t know how to fight, the bullying also happened when I was outside playing. He would throw rocks at me and always left bruises. One time I decided to play in my back yard instead of my driveway, I was sitting by the fire pit playing with my toys when I heard my fence gate open, I thought it was my dad so I thought nothing. Seconds later I’m hit in the back of the head with a plastic baseball hat and my head gets slammed into the rock-made fire pit. My dog ran after the kid and chomped down on his arm and pulled him to the ground, my nose was covered in blood and I was dizzy from the impact. My dog continued to bite the kid and left him with bite marks all over his legs, arm and torso. The kid is screaming and crying as he runs out the yard with my dog chasing him, she comes back over to me and licks my face. I get up and run inside with my dog to tell my brother. My brother comes outside with my dog and I’m watching through the patio window. My brother was in the army for a short while and he knew how to fight. The boy comes back with his dad, who’s carrying a wood chopping axe and begins yelling at my brother, my brother tried to deescalate the situation but gets jabbed in the stomach with the handle of the axe. My brother catches it after he was hit and headbutt the man in the nose before kicking his kid against the concrete patio. The dad gets back up and tries to hit my brother again, my dog gets behind him and bites him on the ass, he screams and falls, dropping the axe. My brother calls my dog off and begins punching the dad. I was still watching from the house when the dad gets my brother off of him and grabs the axe again. He hits my dog in the head and she yelps, he kept hitting the dog until she was dead. I ran out the door crying and grabbed a rock from the patio and threw it at the dad’ head screaming. He gets pissed and starts walking towards me, my brother grabs a rock from the fireplace and hits him in the spine. The man fell and my brother continued to beat him, I ran inside after that and now all I can tell you is what he told me. Apparently the dad had become paralyzed while my brother was beating him, the neighbors saw what happened and called the police, the kid who had hit me tried to fight my brother and my brother threw the same rock at the kid and it broke one of his ribs. The police arrived later and tased my brother, I was also arrested and they took us to the police station where we were both interrogated in separate rooms. That’s all I can remember, my brother got sentenced to 17 Years in prison.
