2023.03.20 20:21 TeachMeMerc BA.Ba:Accounting Degree landed me a job!
Hi all,
Figured I could share my success story in hopes it motivates some of you to keep going!
I've completed the Bachelor's in business administration: Accounting in January. I starting my job search the first week of February and finally got an offer from an accounting firm last week.
Currently making 45k as an accountanting clerk, but this new position as a staff auditor will be 60k with a 1.5k bonus. I do have to relocate to a new state but I know it's worth it.
Overall, I liked my experience at WGU. I went to a technical college my first 2 years and got an associates in accounting. Unfortunately, I was only able to transfer 29 CU's. It took me exactly 2 years to complete the program, but it was well worth it. I could have probably finished in a year if I was more focused, but that's the beauty of this school, you can go as fast as you like. My course mentor was amazing as well.
Going through this program wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. A few courses caused major roadblocks to the point it took a few months to complete. I'm some cases, they demotivated me from even doing any sort of studying for weeks on end.
Cost accounting and Intermediate accounting 2 caused me so much trouble. The best advice I can give on the program as a whole... for non accounting courses, just jump into the PA and study your weak points. Retake the PA as many times as you need. Look up each individual course on the reddit and see how other students experienced the course. Some posts have solid advice depending on the course.
This advice might not work too well on the accounting courses. Most of the time I had to do all quizzes and tests in each unit to get a solid understanding. I believe this is a must for cost accounting and Intermediate 1-3.
This was all typed up on mobile, so I apologize for all the grammar mistakes, lol. Anyways, the main think is to finish. I already had 2 years of accounting experience upon finishing my degree. 1 year as a staff accountant at a retailer and the most recent year as a clerk for a small company. This might have given me a leg up, who knows. I had a ton of interviews over the past month and not one asked about the specifics of WGU. Most only care if I was eligible to sit for the CPA exams and or if I'm planning on taking the exams. All 50 states now accept credit units from WGU, the last state being south Carolina. The state I currently reside in, go figure.

2023.03.20 20:21 Sipesprings Trump Indictment
Our justice system as we have seen is already very corrupt. You have to be living under a rock not to notice. The NY case is quite interesting. You have two non-credible witnesses testifying against Trump. Cohen went to prison for several felony accounts. Stormy Daniels was already caught lying years ago, so her credibility is questionable also. Both witnesses are on record as liars. If the DA indicts Trump on a felony, the statute of limitations runs out in 5 years-it is now 7 years later. A misdemeanor runs out in 2 years. The DA now is in an uncomfortable situation. The DA moves forward then that career may be over or gets prosected. Just making some observations on the case. Also, if they call for his arrest, I have a bet with friend that DeSantis won't hand him over because he knows at all costs the dems will be going after him next. This has been a great distraction on Hunter Biden issues that even left media realizes he is in real trouble. At least daddy can save him with a pardon.

2023.03.20 20:18 louiscross I have created a ClashRoyale level up calculator
As the title suggests, i have created a python program which uses the ClashRoyale API to calculate how far you are away from a specific level and the cost in gold relative to the cards you currently possess.
I released this just today on github, and you are more than welcome to try it for yourself.
https://github.com/Louiscross13/ClashRoyale-API-Calculator I recommend reading the readme fully to understand the pre-requisites needed to get this program to work. It is fairly simple however and i tried to make the program relatively beginner safe, all you need to know is your Authentication key, player tag and level you are trying to achieve.
As taken from my
readme file from the repo, this is a simple description of how it works:
This is a simple tool to help you calculate how far you are from your next level or next king tower level. The logic of this tool is relatively straight forward.
You use clashroyale's API to gather data from your account. Namely your current level, experience toard next level as well as all of the cards you currently hold, the levels which they are and the amount of each card.
We then sort these cards from its level ascending and take turns upgrading them. If the card doesnt have enough to be upgraded it is discarded. If the card is max level it is discarded. Once a card is upgraded. The account and card details will be updated to reflect this change and the loop will continue until either the desired level is reached or you run out of cards to upgrade.
Im looking forward to seeing how you get on, and potentially any additions you would like to see, if you have any questions / troubleshooting please comment and ill try to get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks :)

2023.03.20 20:09 Snoo-76071 Cancelling "gold" card linked to platinum account
Will cancelling a "gold" card linked to my platinum account impact the credit score of the person I added it for?
I "took advantage" of the offer to add on a "gold" card at no cost to my new platinum account because I thought that card would get us the 4x grocery/dining rate... Then I read here on good old reddit that the card doesn't actually work as a gold card!
Ugh.
My spouse don't need another card / won't get use out of the wierd not-gold card I signed up for BUT I don't want to negatively impact their credit score just because of a misleading move on amex's part...
Anyone else have experience with cancelling?

2023.03.20 20:05 PatientAd66 theoretical question on bbby
I’m playing around with my paper account and recognized that BBBY JAN19’24 42P costs 41.15 at the moment.
So let’s say i sell 1 CSP at that strike price i will receive a premium of 4115$ and my risk is 68$. My Broker pays me 4% interest for that 4115$. The Interest earned on that premium is higher than my risk on that contract.
Is there anything that i get wrong in this scenario? The Only risk is that BBBY goes bankrupt before i received 68$ Interest?
It seems to me that this is a crazy rare situation. Meby someone with more experience can explain that to me.
Sorry for my english! And sorry in advance if this question is stupid.

2023.03.20 20:01 Bendoverforebay Would you like to be a victim of an online crime? eBay can help!
Are you feeling left out from the rising crime rates?
Or maybe you have been a victim of a crime but you were not blamed by the overseeing authority and it left you wanting more.
Here at eBay, we can help!
Sign up for a new account or if you are an established seller list something of high value and just wait. Unfortunately you may need to wait until you have brought thousands of dollars in fees to ebay and had thousands of successful sales with happy ebay customers. But just wait, the scammers will eventually find you.
For best results we recommend selling something heavy with a value of at least several hundreds of dollars. That way you can pay more fees in addition to paying the shipping to the scammer and get the fun of paying shipping for a large box of rocks back.
As an added bonus ebay will keep the 12.9% fee in addition to charging the shipping costs.
Here is how it works: 1. wait to receive something else back. Next and this is the easiest part!!! 2. Report a problem with the return. The hard part is over, we won’t let you upload any pictures and you will be limited to 1000 characters while you detail the fraud. We have tried but we can’t make this part any easier on you. 3. Please be patient, it may take us up to 48 hours to tell you that since we can’t determine who is lying we are blaming you! We will also point out that you should have just accepted the partial loss when you had a chance. 4. Enjoy your loss, we like to compound it so we will give you a seller defect so you don’t forget about this experience for up to one year!
If you would like you can appeal our decision and if the poor shlep who works for us has still have not hit their quota of seller concessions refunds you might just get compensated.
Be sure to tell all of your friends about the joys of getting ripped off and being blamed for it!

2023.03.20 20:00 Professional_Disk131 Shiftcarbon Launched A New MRV Automation Platform (CSE: SHFT, OTC PINK: SHIFF)
ShiftCarbon (CSE: SHFT, OTC: SHIFF, FRA: 1UZ0) is a company developing a platform that enables clients of all sizes to measure their emissions, establish specific reduction goals, and incorporate carbon offsetting into their operations. The company that secured a US $ 5M deal in February recently launched an MRV automation platform. Investors don’t realize the importance of recent news and how undervalued the company is. Valued at less than $5M, the market cap gives a real opportunity to witness significant ROI. Let’s recap together all the milestones the company accomplished.
Company Overview ShiftCarbon (CSE: SHFT, OTC: SHIFF, FRA: 1UZ0) offers a user-friendly platform for carbon accounting, offsetting, measurement, reporting, and verification automation of carbon offsets thanks to IoT sensor technology and modular software. ShiftCarbon, the company's flagship product and a complete platform for reducing carbon emissions was introduced in August 2022. This is the organization's greatest launch since the release of AllSafe, an award-winning platform for enterprise safety. With the development of the technology, the company has changed its name from TraceSafe to ShiftCarbon, become accredited by the UN, and met the strictest requirements for carbon offsets. Also, it has teamed up with Green Marine to improve its decarbonization services for the marine sector.
In addition, ShiftCarbon runs the popular IoT cloud platform TraceSafe. The solution powers safer and more intelligent workplace environments by delivering precise and fast information using sensor technology. Leading healthcare, hospitality, construction, events, education, and government businesses rely on TraceSafe, which is present in North America, Asia, and Europe.
How Royal Caribbean Is Building a Greener Ship The company’s platform comes at the right time. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is working hard to cut ships' emissions. Initially adopted on July 15, 2011, the organization has a tight and strict plan to massively reduce GHG emissions by 50% by 2050. IMO has also executed a comprehensive capacity-building and technical assistance program, including various global projects. Because of its heavy reliance on fossil fuels, the maritime sector contributed around 3% of the world's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2020 or 1.2 gigatons of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e). This sector emits more greenhouse gases than the world’s 5th GHG-emitting country.
Major companies are already on the move. Royal Caribbean announced a plan to build the first carbon-neutral cruise ship with the Finnish government and the Meyer Turku shipyard.
"Our partners in Finland have helped us deliver some of the world's most impressive and sustainable ships of their time, including our newest ship debuting in January 2024, Icon of the Seas. This new partnership sets the stage for future innovations and allows us and the maritime industry to continue pursuing sustainability at the highest level." Jason Liberty, president, and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group.
Who detains the solution to track this super boat’s GHG emissions? Shiftcarbon. Last year, the company partnered with Green Marine, a voluntary environmental certification program for the North American marine industry. The organization garners a solid network, including 40 ship owners and 400 members. The company released Focused Footprint, a powerful tool integrated within Shiftcarbon Measure to enable clients to measure their climate impact through a series of guided steps that collect emissions information specific to the marine industry.
On March 7, the company announced it introduced a new Measurement Reporting Verification (MRV) automation platform on the market. This platform aims to promote and make the creation of voluntary carbon credits easier, more transparent, and more accessible. How? It drastically reduces the cost and complexity of data collection for some of these projects. The platform marks a new milestone for Shiftcarbon as it will provide more accurate MRV, combat climate change and promote the opportunity of carbon credits to a broader market.
"This new platform for MRV automation is another step toward achieving that goal. By enabling more accurate and transparent emissions measuring, we can ensure that carbon offset projects are properly accounted for and receive the carbon credits they deserve. The majority of these projects not only help combat climate change but also improve the lives of people in communities around the world." Qayyum Rajan, Head of Carbon Products Shiftcarbon is working on water and land as well. Do you remember when we mentioned it earned a US $5M revenue deal? The company signed this engagement with STC, a Saudi telecommunication company generating US $15.7B in revenue in 2020. By including a commitment to invest US$150 billion in regional real estate projects, Saudi Vision 2030, a plan to improve the economy, is closely tied to creating sustainable tourism destinations. By implementing this initiative, the Kingdom hopes to protect, improve, and, by 2040, generate a net increase in conservation value. With the highest Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) designation for environmentally responsible urban design, the Green Finance accredited facility is designed to function entirely on renewable energy.
Bottom Line ShiftCarbon (CSE: SHFT, OTC: SHIFF, FRA: 1UZ0) is on the verge of becoming a giant company. SHFT can help maritime companies track their GHG emissions, and with the IMO’s plan to reduce them in half by 2050, more companies should use it. 2023.03.20 19:59 Ukrdream Return order question. Need your thoughts.
Hi everyone! So here is the situation. I have ordered shoes ($104 total cost for item and shipping) The shoes I choose was 8 cm heel, but the seller shipped me 6 cm heel. So he did literally ship me wrong item. I contacted him first, informing about his mistake, but he read but didn’t even respond me first :) Than I texted him again asking what we gonna do in this case He didn’t even apologize and just told me “$10 refund” 😅 I told him it’s unacceptable and I want full refund, but he told me 2 cm heel size it’s not a big deal 🤦♀️ He also was rude, saying I have big attitude and he don’t want me to order from him again
So I contacted AliExpress, opened the dispute and AliExpress allow me to return it BUT BUT they want me to pay for the shipping back ($80+ fee) and then they gonna reimburse me shipping fee as a coupon.
I am honestly shocked. I have added all screenshots with our chat with the seller so they can clearly see how he is communicating and his unwillingness to help Also it was his mistake so I feel it’s extremely unfair to me to deal with all this stuff and spend even more money now and wait 30 days for a coupon 🤦♀️
So my questions are: 1. Can I just contact my American Express for chargeback ? Will it affect my account on Ali?
- Have you even returned items like in this case and how long did you wait for the refund?
- What would you advice me to do in this case?
Thank you!

2023.03.20 19:58 Professional_Disk131 Shiftcarbon Launched A New MRV Automation Platform (CSE: SHFT, OTC PINK: SHIFF)
Let’s recap together all the milestones the company accomplished.
https://preview.redd.it/l2bld60pyxoa1.jpg?width=977&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=84c9b8473ab2452d74b540e6e6494d58f5693922 Company Overview ShiftCarbon (CSE: SHFT, OTC: SHIFF, FRA: 1UZ0) offers a user-friendly platform for carbon accounting, offsetting, measurement, reporting, and verification automation of carbon offsets thanks to IoT sensor technology and modular software.

2023.03.20 19:57 NefariousnessNext840 Can't get an answer from HMRC regarding voluntary pension contributions.
Since last week, I have tried several times contacting HMRC future pension centre on 0800 371 0181 and 0800 731 0175. After the initial 2 - 3 minutes then going through to option 4 then option 1. the call just disconnects. I ended up ring 0300 200 35001 and after waiting an hour, manage to speak with someone about my pension contributions etc and they were able to confirm what I could see on my HMRC account but they were unable to advise me if its worth me paying the voluntary pension contributions or not and just advised me to ring 0800 731 0175. which I had already done a few times with no avail.
Basically I am 33, I have 11 (soon to be 12) years worth on full National Insurance contributions and have 6 years that are not fully complete, below is a break down of the uncompleted years:
2014 - 2015: £63.40.
2012 - 2013: £47.55.
2011 - 2012: £364.55.
2010 - 2011: £47.55.
2009 - 2010: £79.25.
2008 - 2009: £317.00.
The total works out at £919.30 or the 4 cheapest years costs £237.75.
Now obviously I need 35 years of national insurance contributions and in a few weeks time I will have 12 years so ill need a further 23 years taking me to 56 years old or if I pay for the 4 years of national insurance contributions, ill need a further 19 years instead of 23 years. meaning id complete the 35 years by the time I'm 52 years old but by then I wouldn't be able to claim or access the state pension until I am 68 years olds. meaning, if I worked right up to 68, then 16 years (if I paid the 4 years) or 12 years (if I didn't) wouldn't be counted as full national insurance contributions, as I'd have maxed the 35 years needed long before.
I feel like I have basically answered my own questions with the paragraph above but I would like some people to just read everything I've wrote and confirm if I've basically worked it out that I don't need to actually pay for those 4 cheaper years or just get some of your guys option on this matter.
Furthermore, I am planning on opening up a private pension and could manage to easily put away £250.00 a month (this would increase over the years, by 5% - 10% each year, inline with inflation) but I'm unsure what the best way to set this up is but that's for a future post.

2023.03.20 19:57 WhenDid_IGet_ThisOld FHOA Selective enforcement, arbitrary fines, and covenant violations are just the tip of the iceberg!
State: Georgia – 140 SFH
I hate that my first post to Reddit has to be here, but I just can’t hold my 5 years of frustration any longer after getting kicked in the teeth one too many times.
My house that I purchased as new construction in 2018 adjoins a copse of trees growing from a retention pond that is considered, and labeled in the plat, as a common area. This area has not been maintained since day one and didn’t take long to become overgrown with weeds and Kudzu (southern invasive vine from hell).
Soon after our yard also started getting terrible weeds and the kudzu crept onto our property. That is when the fines began. We pulled them out as much as possible, but you can only pull so many weeds before they take over newly planted sod and win.
We have contested all of the fines without response or hearing as required not only per the covenants, but Georgia law as well. We got a statement last year that we owed over $3,000 in fines so we called the management company incessantly until my husband got someone on the phone. They said that they fine almost everyone until it gets to the point that they hire a professional lawn care service (just a side note, one of the board members conveniently had a family member with a landscape business). They agreed to drop our fines if we sent them a contract. We hired TrueGreen and sent it in… done. He confirmed that the fines would be waived.
Two months later the relationship between the management company and the HOA sours and the HOA fires them. The new management company just got our accounts and the fines were not removed. As of this moment we owe $3,358, including a fee from the new management company for said fines not being paid. This is where my head just exploded.
I finally joined the neighborhood facebook page and come to find the following:
- They are using FB as an official means of communication, including the annual meeting that just happened on March 9. Per Georgia law they are required to give 21 days notice via USPS.
- There is another homeowner they fined into oblivion to the point they had to sell their house and move. This person and a board member (the same as mentioned above) had a public beef on social media before the fining started. The fines were for a personal vehicle with a company wrap. Another wrapped construction vehicle at another “in” family down the road never got fined.
- This same board member openly admits to having chickens, including selling the eggs to neighbors, which is in strict violation of the covenants. I am guessing she never fined herself and she still has chickens as I write this.
- The annual budget, also posted on FB, shows a landscape cost of over $14,000, none of which was spent on the common area next to my lot but was spent on a new subdivision sign, a community library, and a new paver pathway to a park bench at the entrance. Unequal distribution of maintenance funds for common areas is also against GA law. (One cannot be ignored to do something in another).
I am ready to bring out the legal torches and pitchforks. Especially since the covenants do not have any fee policy at all, so they arbitrarily fine whatever – not sure where the numbers originated. I just need to get it off my chest and hope someone might give a fresh perspective on what I can/should do. I am at a loss!

2023.03.20 19:54 DCS30 Am I doing something wrong, or just average now?
i'm 40 years old, restarted my life around 34ish, going back to school full time, with barely anything in the bank. since then, i now have a government job making $75000 with increases twice a year, have a small house with my gf with a sub-$400,000 mortgage at a low interest rate (which requires non-stop work...), and may have leased a truck at the worst possible time, right before the gas prices skyrocketed (financing was too expensive, leasing felt like a good bridge move to gauge financing moving forward). we live a very basic, non-extravagant life, don't spend money on ourselves often, only went on one real trip in the last 6 years...due to cost of living, i'm only really putting aside a couple hundred bucks a month, and i'm never able to keep my chequing account above a couple thousand lately. basically, stagnating. aside from spending money on shit for this house constantly, and my car payments, am i missing something? is it just cost of living that's crushing us right now? i need an unbiased, fresh opinion on this, so i thought i would reach out here. is anyone else in a similar situation?
for what it's worth, i don't have much on my line of credit (under $8000) or credit card either (credit card is strictly for points), and i do have some small investments. i do still have student debt from 11 years ago that i'm making payments to.
i'm not looking for "you should have done xx", or anything like that, just whether or not i'm alone in this haha.
thanks in advance.

2023.03.20 19:52 RDA92 Sarl-s accounting hassle - any DIYers?
I am currently self-employed but likely to shift to a legal form to protect private assets. I know that SARLs are cheap to incorporate but that running costs, accounting in particular, can be a bit costly. Now I was wondering how tough it is to do the accounting yourself, assuming a fairly simple business model focused on services rather than goods, and that involves quarterly invoices to a single counterparty, no major assets (except for a laptop perhaps) and manageable “expenses”. Are there available courses that tell you how to do it?
