2023.06.02 01:17 CampCrystalLake1980 I got a CV removed with dashcam footage! I hope your account got deactivated, Shanya!

Tuesday afternoon, near the end of my shift, I stopped by Zaxby's to grab a bite to eat. I ordered, and immediately after, an order pops up on my phone. Zaxby's going 1.5 miles for $5.50. I accepted. Our orders came up at the same time which was VERY quick. The food was fresh and hot. I remember thinking, "This is going to be a super fast delivery, Shanya!"

I get to the apartment, reach in my hot bag, and this food is steaming hot. I set it at the door, go to take a picture and the spiral of death comes up. 20 seconds later, "Something went wrong. Application encountered unknown error" or some bullshit. I don't know about you guys, but when this happens the only option is to select "Handed Order Directly To Customer". I even opened up messages and tried to send a photo that way. "Message could not not be sent" Great. I'm not restarting my phone and I didn't want to call her while standing at her door, so I knocked. Shanya comes to the door. I say, "I'm sorry, the app wasn't working so I couldn't send you a picture." I realize now this is probably what got me in trouble. She picks her food up off the doorstep and says "That's fine." I end my shift and go home.

Later that night, I log in to schedule a shift and there's a Contract Violation. Order Never Arrived. Zaxby's. I only did one Zaxby's order that day so I immediately knew who it was. I thought, "Thaaat biiitch!" Her food had to be on-point. And we even spoke to each other! I immediately submitted details via the app. I included everything in that description that I could think of. Apartment number, customer name, what she looked like, the app glitch, and told them I would be sending video.

That same night, I got my SD card out of my dashcam and used ClipChamp to piece it together. I showed the interior of the car when I pulled the food out of the hot bag. You could clearly see it was Zaxby's. I then switched to the forward facing camera which showed me walking from my car, with the food, up to the second floor where her apartment was. You could see the building number in the video. About a minute later, I come down the stairs empty handed and get in my car. After finishing the video, I called support back to request an email that I could reply to with a reference number. I replied to that email and also sent a separate email to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) with a link to the video and the reference number in that first email from support.

Today around 4:00, the Contract Violation went away. It worked! I tried to include *everything* in this post so you guys can do this yourselves if you get a CV. I recommend getting the video sent the same day you receive the violation. It usually takes 24-48 hours to "Process" the violation, but get it in as soon as you can. Always try to park where your camera can see the address or at least a building number. I probably should have called her, but who knows if she would have answered. I have a suspicion that this person was a dasher, but I'm not sure. Shanya, if you're on this sub, shame on you. If your account isn't deactivated, I hope stray cats piss on all your future orders.

Be safe out there. Don't let the low-lifes win! And may the tips be in your favor.

Alexandros VII the Huntmaster (968 – 1006)

After the death of Alexandros VI, there were three men to succeed him. The first was Hypatios, the second son who had been on numerous campaigns and had ruled with his father for years. The second was Kaisarios, the third son who had always stayed at court, never participating in any campaign. The third was Alexandros. He was the 19-year-old son of Hephaistion, making him the grandson of Alexandros VI, though fortunately for him he was not an albino like his father.
Hypatios was away when his father died and did not hear the news until several weeks later. Alexandros and Kaisarios, who were both at the court, tried to gather supporters. Kaisarios focused on other members of the Argead dynasty, descendants of the previous Argead leaders through their daughters and their loyal followers, while Alexandros tried to win the favor of the new nobility. He was successful and notably received the support of Theodotos, who gave him the army. Alexandros VII declared himself despot and took control of Athens. Kaisarios fled to Krete where he also declared himself despot. Hypatios, when he discovered what had happened, went to Cyprus where he had some support and claimed to be despot.
After a few weeks, the three Argeads were focused on ruling their lands and increasing their support in the areas they controlled. Their lands also had not fully recovered from the wars of Alexandros VI. They were all too busy to prepare for a war against each other and a status quo was established, temporarily. The next year, the Roman civil war ended with a victory of Leon VIII. The lands controlled by the Argeads had been spared, which had allowed them to gather support to themselves. They particularly made sure the nobility would support the Argeads instead of the Basileus in case of a war between both sides. Alexandros VII was discovered during that period to be a ruler as fair and just as his grandfather had been. Progressively, he became disinterested from Krete and Cyprus, but was too powerful for Hypatios and Kaisarios to bother him. They spent most of their reign focusing on internal matters.
In 972, Alexandros VII married Alfrhildr, a woman from a prestigious northern family. The next year, she gave birth to a daughter, Leontia. In 974, he attacked the Constanta family for some of their lands in Bulgaria. The victory of the Argeads had encouraged many Roman families to try their hand in the kingdom of Bulgaria. After a few years, many held lands here. Theodotos was put in charge of 3 000 men and went in the mountains to fight the war. The Constantas had not much support for they were in the edge of the Empire and thus the conflict quickly ended with an Argead victory.
During those years, Alexandros continued making sure he had the support of the nobility, not only by maintaining good relations with the heads of the families but with the other members as well. Some Christian families even accepted to abandon Christ, something which showed a great support toward the Argeads. He ruled his lands fairly and invested in them, especially in Attica. In 977, Alexandros VII had another daughter named Aigidia. Alfrhildr died a few months later of a disease. He remarried to Hypatia, a Greek noble. The next year, Theodotos died in his bed. The despot used the occasion to pressure the Skleros family to renounce Jesus, which they did as a result of the diplomatic efforts of Alexandros over the years. In 979, Hypatia gave birth to a girl, Helene.
In 980, the despot was invited to a prestigious position at the court of Leon VIII. He went here and tried to find support among the Roman nobility against the Basileus. In 981, Alexandros attacked the Pastillas family. He wanted to counter their influence in Epirus and thus attacked their base in Asia Minor, specifically their lands in Kibyrrhaiotai. He sent Niphon, the widow of Alexandros VII’s sister Agne, who had died a few years prior, with 3 300 soldiers to wage this war. The Pastillas’ first strategy was to stall by hiding in their forts while they called for the intervention of Leon VIII. However, the despot used his influence at court to prevent any imperial meddling in the conflict. In 982, the Pastillas finally chose to face the Argead army. With 1 200 men, they tried one last stand at the Battle of Adrassos but they were defeated. Following the battle, one part of the family made an internal coup and negotiated a surrender with Alexandros, weakening his family but strengthening himself. He agreed to submit to the Argeads and have all of his former subjects also submit, and in exchange he kept Kibyrrahaiotai. To show their commitment, he abandoned Christ. With this victory, the Argeads finally had full control of Epirus once again and also more than tripled the size of the area under their influence in Asia Minor. That same year, Hypatia had another daughter, Kyra.
In 984, Alexandros caught wind of a conspiracy by the Bulgarians who wanted to retake their lands. They were negotiating with the owners of the forts for a pacific transition in order to force the Argeads to abandon the area if they did not want to be engaged in a long and costly war. This plot was led by Petar, a man living in the kingdom of Wallachia, north of the Danube. To prevent it from happening, Alexandros sent Niphon with 3 500 men to invade a part of Wallachia called Oltenia. At the same time, Hypatia gave her husband another daughter, Garyphallia. The campaign lasted some time as Niphon captured each fort. In 986, he defeated the king of Wallachia at the Battle of Rusii de Vede, forcing him to renounce control of the region. Soon, the local nobility swore allegiance to the Argeads in order to keep their lands. Petar had been killed during the war, putting an end to the plot.
In 988, Leon VIII was involved in a war against the Pope in Italy. The campaign turned into a disaster as the Catholics hired many mercenaries and completely destroyed the imperial roman army. This was deemed the perfect occasion by Alexandros VII who, in 989, stopped paying taxes to the Basileus and declared he would stop serving him. Leon VIII reacted by immediately trying to take the Argead forts in Greece. He quickly raised some men to kill the rebellion before it really began. However, Niphon was already here with 3 700 soldiers. He easily defeated the first army. Despite this victory, all of the nobles in the Eastern Roman Empire stayed loyal to the Basileus, including the Argeads from Krete and Cyprus, who had created their own family.
The next year, another army of 4 200 men was raised and sent to Greece, but it was defeated at the Battle of Corinth in May, thanks to the better terrain. More men were recruited, including mercenaries. However, by that point they were divided instead of following a single command. Niphon exploited it by defeating each army separately. In 991, Leon VIII died, as did Alexandros’ daughter Helene. The new Basileus was the 8-year-old Anthimos. Because of his age, he was not in charge of ruling and the Roman nobility squabbled among each other to gain as much power as they could. As a result, the war against Alexandros had a lesser focus. Especially as a lot of the nobles had been captured on the battlefield and forced to pay heavy ransoms to go back to their lands. Moreover, he was an important rival of theirs. After a few months, they agreed to give Alexandros VII his independence in the name of the Basileus, hoping with him out of the Empire he would stop troubling them.
Alexandros VII’s first decision as an independent ruler was to create an order of warriors dedicated to the defense of the Argead’s rule. They were called the Myrmidons, as a reference to Achilles that Alexander the Great loved so much, and led by Gregoras. In 992, Alexandros invaded Bulgaria. It was still ruled by Simeon II, now very old. The king had spent his life fighting many enemies and seeing his kingdom slowly weaken. The Myrmidons were tested during this conflict as they were called to participate in the invasion, bringing the total number of Argead soldiers to 5 300. They encountered little resistance as the Bulgarians were busy in other wars, as they had been consistently for the duration of Simeon II’s reign. After a year and a half of war, Simeon II agreed to surrender Moesia, which represented half of what was left of his kingdom, in exchange for the end of the invasion. The conquered area was given to Niphon as a reward for all of his efforts during Alexandros’ reign.
In 995, Alexandros attacked duchess Ruxandra of Vedin. The next year, as the campaign was ongoing, another part of the Pastillas family attacked Alexandros to take the land of their kin. They were helped by many other Roman families. The despot negotiated with Ruxandra, she would swear allegiance and keep her titles and possessions, then he was free to focus his efforts on the Roman nobles.
The Myrmidons were once again called. In total, the Argeads had 6 500 soldiers. While the army prepared for the campaign, Alexandros accepted he would not have a son and decided it was time to confirm his daughters as heir, and in particular Leontia who was showing a lot of skills necessary for ruling. They were married to members of prestigious Varangian houses as princesses of the highest rank.
The campaign began in 997. It started with the Battle of Cremnia in December, when Niphon defeated the 6 200 men of the Roman nobles. It was followed by a series of sieges until the Battle of Smyrna in August 999, during which the Romans were once again defeated. They negotiated a truce a few months later, giving a heavy ransom in exchange for the return of their forts. Alexandros used that gold to improve his court, showing the world he was really a ruler in his own right, and continued spending it profusely on his domain.
In 1002, Alexandros VII attacked the duchy of Rashka, ruled by a cabal of nobles acting in the name the 6-year-old duchess, Lyudmila. The despot justified his invasion by claiming to wanting to help the child get rid of bad influence. Niphon died of natural causes during the war. After his death, the command of the army was divided, which was especially necessary for the warfare in the mountains of the region. The war ended in 1005, when the nobles accepted to surrender Lyudmila, who was brought to Athens to be personally raised by Alexandros, with Alexandros’ men staying to rule in her absence.
That same year, the despot took Konstantia, an Argead from Krete loosely related to him, as his concubine. Despite his acknowledgement of his daughters as heir, he was still hoping for a son. Alexandros VII died of natural causes in 1006, at 56.
Alexandros VII is the one who really made the independence of the Argeads happen. Despite the trouble they caused to the previous Basileus, the Argeads overall still benefited the Empire greatly thanks to the exorbitant taxes imposed on them. That loss, decided by the noble families more concerned by their own struggle to power rather than anything else, was devastating to the Eastern Roman Empire as a whole which became weaker than ever. It is important to note that despite becoming independent, Alexandros VII is not the one who really remade the Argead Empire. He still called himself despot, and was usually referred to as the Despot, as the only other despots, of Krete and Cyprus, were insignificant in comparison. When historical documents mentioned the realm he ruled, they usually called it Hellas, as he was ruling from Athens which was his center of power. But it was nothing official.

2023.06.02 01:05 tombah99 It would have been 8 years in October

Over Memorial Day weekend, I caught my (27M) girlfriend (28F) cheating on me. I have a lot on my mind so this is going to be a long one... apologies in advance. I want to talk about the night it all went down, the days since, and life going forward.
Context:
I have been with my (likely soon to be ex) girlfriend for nearly 8 years. We met in college at a party and never looked back. Our relationship was never the most exciting or passionate, but we loved each other.
I will be the first to admit I was not a perfect partner. I struggled with alcohol and we both smoked a fair bit of marijuana through college and our early 20s. I also struggled greatly with depression and anxiety. Despite these issues, I always held down a job and paid the bills. We also rarely fought.
I have made great strides in my life to put these issues behind me. I am completely sober and have worked very hard to become the best future husband and father I can be for our family.
Over the years we built a life together. We both graduated college, moved to the big city, and began our careers. We have 2 dogs (luckily no kids) and live in a nice house in a nice suburb that we split rent on. Our lives are integrated. She is a part of my family and I am a part of hers. We have lived together for years and have shared expenses.
We are not engaged yet but I have had a ring for several months now. I had not proposed because I felt there were cracks in our relationship that I wanted to work on before taking that next step. I had tried to have conversations about these issues but was never met with any meaningful dialogue or action.
"D-day":
I think the story of my D-day actually start a couple weeks before it actually happened. One day before work, I had asked my GF (I'll call her J) if she could please clean her dishes in the sink and clean up her pile of laundry in the bathroom. No demands or anything, just "please, I'd appreciate it". J blew up at me. "Do you know how long you were a mess and I put up with it??". I was hurt but at this point I needed to leave for work so I said we need to talk later and headed out the door. I gathered my thoughts during the day and came home a little early from work. We sat down and I laid out the following points:
1. Please stop using the past against me. I know I wasn't perfect but I've worked very hard to become a better person. I cannot be in a relationship where my partner will hold my darkest days over my head to win an argument.
2. J works the nightshift and I have struggled with this in the past. We don't see each other very often as our schedules are completely opposite. She was open to changing to the day shift in the past but recently has hardened her stance. Recently, she has been sleeping a LOT on her days off. I understand nightshift is brutal on one's sleep schedule but it was getting to the point where she would only be awake 4-6 hours on her days off. These few hours she was awake she would lay on the couch and watch TV. It made having a relationship difficult, and it also meant her share of house duties was falling behind (leaving her dishes in the sink, her clothes all over the place, etc).
3. Sex. Our sex life has never been great. I have been open about my desire to improve things, have worked on myself to be an attractive partner, and have tried to discuss her wants and needs as well. There was never any progress.
During this conversation, I asked for her thoughts and feelings on each topic. I desperately wanted an actual dialogue but she was giving me nothing. Ultimately, she said she needed time to think about what I said. Since the conversation, I had not seen her hardly seen her at all. She had been gone almost a week on a hiking trip with some co-workers that had been planned for a while. Then because of work there was another week of not really seeing each other.
Friday night, J asks if I want to go to a birthday dinner for a family friend on Saturday. I had plans that required me to be up early on Sunday, so I said probably not as I knew she would want to stay and hang out late with them. She swore she would not as she had work on Sunday. I only half believed her, but agreed to go because I knew it'd make her happy.
Towards the end of dinner I go to the restroom and when I come back, what always happens happened. "Would you be ok if I actually went out? I won't be out much later" She asked in front of the entire group so I said "sure, you can do what you want" A few minutes later off to the side, I let her know I was upset that she went back on her word but she was un-phased. She promised she wouldn't be out very late and I believed her as the group was primarily mid-30s people with young kids. One of the other people at the birthday dinner assured me they would give her a ride home.
I drove home alone and the anger built. I typed out a long text about how I was hurt that she didn't come home with me like she said she would, but ultimately deleted it before sending. I didn't want to needlessly make her night worse and told myself we would talk in the morning. I go to bed.
2AM I wake up to go pee. She isn't there. I check my phone and she hasn't texted me at all either. We share locations with each other so I check and it's not loading so I am getting a bit worried for her safety at this point.
I call her and she picks up "Hello?" "Hey J where are you??" "Oh I decided to sleep over at family friend's house" This alone wasn't concerning as the family friends were a married couple with young children. We have known them for years and it was not unusual for her to spend the night there after going out with them.
At this point my concern quickly turns back to anger because not only did she lie to me again about coming home early, she didn't even text me to let me know her plans changed. I told J to get an Uber and come home, we need to talk. She was annoyed and let me know it but I didn't care. She told me she would order an Uber.
Nearly 30 minutes had passed and I had not heard from her. I check her location again to see if she's on her way. Unlike before, it does load this time. Not only was she not on the way back, she was at a house I didn't recognize. I call her back "Hey I thought you said you were ordering an Uber and coming home? Also where are you? Your location is showing you at some house I've never seen".
She sticks to her story. She is at family friend's. She has no idea why her location is showing the other house, because she is definitely at family friend's. I'm uneasy at this point but still haven't jumped to any conclusions. Maybe it was a glitch. Seemed to be pretty far away from where she was claiming to be for a glitch and it also hadn't moved at all in a while... but whatever, anything is possible I suppose.
I am asking her why she keeps lying to me. Lied about not going out in the first place, lied about how long she'd be gone, and lied about calling an Uber 30 minutes ago. She says the Uber is coming in 4 minutes and that she will call me when it picks her up because she doesn't want to argue with me in front of family friends.
I watch her location, expecting it to jump and correct itself once she starts moving. Instead, it moves exactly as if she was picked up in an Uber from that house. Whatever, she is on her way.
I go downstairs and wait for her to arrive. Once she does I ask what she did tonight. "I went to the bar and then to family friends". I ask her what she was doing at family friends. "Just talking. You know I stay there sometimes what's the big deal?". I ask what on earth they were talking until 2:30 in the morning. It just didn't make sense, they're a mid-30s married couple with young kids and full time jobs. Staying awake this late just to talk?
"Well we were talking about you for one" "Me? What about me" "For starters your psychotic behavior tonight."
I was mad sure but my behavior had been far from "psychotic". I never raised my voice and never accused her of anything. I demanded she come home sure but I felt I was justified in that.
From here she continues to say they talked about the discussion from 2 weeks ago. How I "attacked her" and "piled on her for no reason". I was shocked. I thought I had handled that conversation a couple weeks ago very maturely. I was actually proud of myself for taking time to gather my thoughts so that I could calmly lay them out when I got home. At this point however, I was questioning myself.
Did I dog pile her for no reason? Was the way I approached it an "attack"? My only thought was maybe it felt one sided because she refused to engage in any discussion. I asked why she could talk to other people about our relationship but not me.
It would never become clear however as she said she was done talking and was going to bed. I begged her to give me something, anything. I didn't care if her response was in the form of yelling at me. I just needed SOMETHING.
As she's walking up the stairs I ask her to explain why her location was at that house. The story was the same. She didn't know, she was at family friends house. I told her I want to believe her but I know what I saw with my own eyes. It just didn't make sense. I would have believed anything that plausibly put her at that house. "I was at family friends and that's that. If you don't believe me, the we have MUCH bigger problems"
That was that. I did trust her and so I accepted it and went up to join her in bed. There was a little voice in the back of my mind that knew what I saw but she wouldn't lie, she definitely wouldn't cheat.
As I am about to fall asleep, I sit up suddenly and say "J I have an idea" *half asleep* "what?" "Show me your Uber receipts. That will prove you're telling the truth, any small doubts I have will be gone and we can just move on from this. Now she seems to be completely asleep (almost certainly faking it looking back). I grab her phone from under her pillow and unlock it.
On the screen is a text thread to a guy I'll call Jake. There were only 2 messages. First from earlier in the evening "It's J". The kind of message you send when someone puts their number in your phone and you text them so they have your number now. Then one she forgot to send "Hey sorry about that... I made it home ok".
Even at this point, my naĂŻve ass did not jump to cheating. I truly assumed it was probably someone who was also at the dinner and stayed the night at family friends. But then I saw the Uber receipt. It had picked her up from the house her location showed her at.
"J WAKE UP. YOU WERE AT THAT HOUSE. WHAT IS GOING ON? WHAT HAPPENED?"
"It's what it looks like"
I asked how could she do this to me? Why would she do this to me? Nothing. Not a single sentence that could be considered a thoughtful response. Despite my demands to know what happened that night, she, as usual, gave me nothing. "It's over. You threw away an 8 year relationship. We were supposed to be together forever. You were supposed to be the mother of my children." Only after those words "It's over" did she show any remorse.
The very little information I did get out of her was:
-This was the first time
-I caught her before anything actually happened
I'm not sure I believe either. It also doesn't really matter to me. Interestingly, about a month prior she told me she had HPV. She assured me that monogamous people can get it. Based on the research I did, it seemed possible, so I didn't think much of it. Now I wonder...
The next few hours were an unproductive loop of various iterations of "How could you" and "I'm sorry I'll do anything to make it up".
Eventually it was 6am and I still had those plans that brought me home early the night before. A 7am tee time. So I left.
It was actually a blessing but I had already had pretty much a full day of plans with some friends. First was golf, then some time at the shooting range with another friend who was going to show me the ropes. These are close friends and I told them everything. They listened to me ramble all day and spent as much time as I needed.
Once I knew J had left for work, I decided it was time to go back home. I had been up since 2am and I was exhausted. I don't fall asleep until midnight. Awake for about 22 hours on the worst day of my life.
The Aftermath:
Honestly... not much happened after. I hurt. It is a deep, constant ache. It was not overwhelming pain like hearing a family member had died. No... just a constant, deep, ache.
I reached out to some more friends who have all been incredibly supportive. I am truly blessed to have the support system I do.
The people I really want to talk to, but haven't had the courage to call yet are my parents. I can't explain why, but I feel almost embarrassed. I also know that once I tell them, the relationship is 100% over with J. They will never see her the same, and she'll know it. I can't live with that tension my whole life.
While I am 99.9% sure this relationship is over, it's hard to say 100%. She was in my life for 8 years. It means a fundamental change to my life presently, and the entire future I had planned.
Work has been hard. I haven't gotten a lot done this week. I've been distracting myself by talking to my co-workers. Today though... I was the only one in the office. Seems everyone else happened to be working from home.
It was not a good day. I have been in my head replaying the events of the weekend and spiraling. Until this point I was weirdly ok. I think it's the first time I've been alone since it happened so all the feelings are coming out.
Going Forward:
I'm not sure what the future holds. I have a few short term plans:
1. STD test
2. Therapy
3. Talk to my parents and likely make a trip home
I also need to talk to J. While I repeatedly said it was over the night it all went down, I think it still needs to be made official. I have not seen J since that night. After work Sunday and Monday night, she has been home. I don't think she's left the house. However, I've been spending as much time away as possible and the little bit I am home, she is in the guest bedroom. I have not had the strength or desire to talk to her.
What I'm most scared of it my living situation and the dogs. While one dog is clearly mine and one is clearly hers, there's a part of me that worries she may do something crazy. I don't know what she's capable of anymore.
We are locked into this lease until February. I have re-read the lease and it seems were pretty much stuck. She has family in town she could stay with but I've got nowhere to go. While it wouldn't ruin me, it would certainly be financially painful if she stopped paying her half of the rent. Best case scenario seems to be we live as roommates and stay out of each other's way for 8 months... A pretty bleak best case scenario.
Once we do separate, there's going to be the challenge of divvying up the stuff. We own a lot of nice furniture together. That furniture probably wouldn't fit well into the apartments we'll likely have to move back into after this. It's all just so unclear at this point.
Conclusion:
If you've made it this far, thank you for listening. Just writing this was very cathartic. I am open to hearing advice on how I should proceed. Nothing in my life has prepared me for something like this.

2023.06.02 01:00 TaediumVitae27 Two months of validating my strategy: +3261.68% gain

Two months of validating my strategy: +3261.68% gain
Note: Validating strategy means this is paper trading.
Be my guest with the usual "it means nothing if it's not real". I'll remain a firm believer that people who claim that validating a strategy via paper trading is useless and means nothing, are the exact people who make less that 10% of real traders profitable and then wonder on this sub why they're not profitable themselves. . .
Basic info can be found in my previous posts. I've posted results after first month and also a discussion about the rather big gains, percentage-wise. I'm posting some numbers of the month of May and also the conclusion of two months of trading. There are all the important ones (avg. win, avg. loss, win rate, expactancy, biggest win and loss, equity curve,...) for anyone with some actual input wondering.
The insane gain
I'll briefly address why/how I gained over +3260% (2k -> 67.2k).
No, I was not gambling. I was taught that rule no. 1 is to always preserve your capital and rule no. 2 is to follow rule no. 1. In my previous recap post (for month April), I mentioned there was a big dose of luck and coincidence playing together at the start, also I was successfully scalping the earnings of giants. And then it was just compounding due to my money management strategy
The that is the main reason why the gain is not as unbelievable as it might appear - the money management strategy I use. I described it in detail here .
So the huge gain is the result of two things:
1.) My Money Management strategy offers a geometric growth of capital and one hell of a geometric growth ride this was...
2.) I was not in a drawdown so the strategy could accelerate the growth at the maximum level. It's at this point where coincidence and perhaps luck as well came into play and it humbles the overwhelming result - it's not possible to trade long-term without experiencing a drawdown. And I'm aware of that. Then, the result will be much more reality-like, as my strategy suffers in a drawdown quite a bit (explained in my post about it).
Thoughts and Plans
Overall, I'm happy with how things are going so far. First two months had quite good results, statistically-wise. I don't care about overall percentage gain (as long as it's positive). I care about average win, average loss, win rate - these three combined in expactancy; and equity curve. As long as my equity curve and expectancy remain positive, I'll be feeling good and confident in my strategies and overall trading.
For plans, I still need to work on emotions and psychology, especially on FOMO. I'm glad I addressed the main problems I have in this field, analysed them and are working on them.
Today, with start of a new month, I reseted my account back to $2000 and I will try to confirm the validity of my strategies again (not by percentage gain!). I changed set-up of my money management strategy a bit (starting straight away with 2 MNQ contracts and not only 1 contract), so I'm curious what will happen in the following weeks. If this second attempt of paper trading will confirm the statistics I've been getting so far, I will go for live trading.
Any input and comments about the topic are welcome and well appreciated. Good luck with your trading journey everyone!

I can’t find this anywhere in the game itself
I’m playing the cities and knights campaign expansion. Victory points have been inconsistent. The last few levels I/NPCs have won at anywhere between 16 and 21 VP.

2023.06.02 00:46 Ultim8_Lifeform Respect Clint Barton, Hawkeye! (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

Hawkeye

"Clint. You should not be here."
"Really? I retire for, what, five minutes and it all goes to shit."
Clint Barton worked as one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top agents for a number of years under the codename Hawkeye, being put on various assignments from keeping an eye on notable items like Mjolnir and the Tesseract to the mysterious Budapest mission where he recruit Natasha Romanov to S.H.I.E.L.D.. These experiences led to him becoming a founding member of the Avengers despite his own claims of just being a regular guy with a bow. Hawkeye worked with the Avengers for several years, from Ultron's attack to the superhero civil war that saw the group falling apart at the seams. However, his life as he knew it was snatched away after the invasion of Thanos, which saw 50% of all life in the universe being erased including Hawkeye's entire family. Hawkeye took up the alias of Ronin, a vigilante that roamed the globe in a vengeful rampage to kill the many criminals that had survived Thanos' snap. He eventually rejoined the Avengers after they discovered a way to bring back everyone that had been erased, but the guilt from what he had done as a result of his grief still weighed on him even after his family had been brought back. It wasn't until he met his future protĂŠgĂŠ Kate Bishop that Clint's faith in himself and his efforts as a superhero were restored.

2023.06.02 00:45 mvis_thma Luminar Technologies - TD Cowen 51st Annual Technology, Media & Telecom Conference

Tom Fenimore was interviewed by Josh from TD Cowen today. Here is a synopsis and a bit of my analysis at the bottom.
https://wsw.com/webcast/cowen138/laz2035800
Josh: Volvo, SAIC, Polestar are ramping nearer term. The push back on LiDAR is that it has always been too expensive. How are the OEMs trying to monetize the cost?
Tom: It all comes down to the value you get. The Luminar sensor is around $1000. There are 2 primary benefits. 1) Volvo said they expect to reduce severe collisions by 20% (Luminar thinks that is a conservative estimate). 2) Luminar is the best long-range LiDAR in the industry. It can see 250M, which provides 7 seconds of reaction time, which is needed to achieve a safe stop or take some other maneuvers. This enables "highway autonomy", which is hands off and eyes off. Luminar believes that full Level 5 (hands off, eyes off everywhere) is a very difficult problem to solve. This may only be achieved at end of decade at best. Highway autonomy, however, is achievable. $1000 is not the cheapest device to put on a vehicle, but in order for highway autonomy to be enabled, the car must have a LiDAR that provides 250M of visibility. This will enable the OEM to upsell the consumer to this capability.
Josh: Is the goal for the OEMs to generate subscription revenue for "highway autonomy".
Tom: SAIC R7 and Volvo are marketing the power of the LiDAR, for better safety and highway autonomy. Today, the auto industry is in a big pivot to EVs. These buyers are tech savvy. The LiDAR is a differentiator in this space. LiDAR and it benefits provides a great marketing message for the OEMs in the crowded EV space.
Josh: Talk about your relationship with the compute players: Nvidia, Qualcomm, and Mobileye.
Tom: Some OEMs have their in-house software arms (for example Volvo has Zenseact). Mercedes Benz is using Nvidia to take the lead on certain parts of the software. Luminar is flexible to work with either model. Luminar is designed to work with the compute players. For example, Luminar is on the reference platform (Hyperion) from Nvidia. It doesn't guarantee the OEM will choose Luminar, but it makes it Luminar's business to lose.
Josh: What is the business model for the software platform. You have made more investments than your peers for example in things like pro-active safety and highway autonomy.
Tom: Yes, safety, highway autonomy, and 3D mapping. Luminar believes there will be big opportunities on the software for the medium and long term. In the near term, it is the perception software which is the object identification and object tracking - this is the output of the perception software. Luminar is developing the right way to integrate the LiDAR (pro-active safety) information into the other sensor modalities (camera, radar). They have built a product (they call pro-active safety) to share with the OEMs to show what the art of the possible is. The OEMs are very good at taking camera-based output and developing the algorithms around that. The LiDAR point cloud is a different sensor modality. Luminar is helping the OEMs to integrate that. Ultimately, they want to demonstrate to the OEM what a LiDAR can do when you put it on a vehicle. They are focused on perception software today. Longer term proactive safety, highway autonomy, and 3D mapping will be separate revenue streams.
Josh: What is the goal and status of the insurance angle? It was surprising to hear this at Luminar Day.
Tom: It facilitates the monetization of the safety improvement. If cars crash less, the cost to insure the vehicle will come down. The legacy insurance companies wanted to see years of data until they would value the LiDAR appropriately. Luminar wanted to move faster than this. This is why Luminar took the lead to develop the insurance business.
Josh: How does the partnership with Swiss Re work?
Tom: Luminar recognizes they are not experts in insurance. Swiss Re plays the expert role. Luminar wants to go through the OEM partners to do this together. Many OEMs are looking to build out their own insurance business. Luminar is willing to give the insurance money to the OEM, but of course the OEM will need the LiDAR to make the insurance product work.
Audience Member: Where does the Luminar LiDAR stand with regard to navigating bad weather?
Tom: Bad weather can mean anything from fog, to blizzard, to rain. Luminar operates at a wavelength of 1550nm. Tom talked about many other LiDAR companies operating at 905nm and how that wavelength is limited by the amount of power that can be applied due to eye safety issues. Luminar can put more power through the 1550nm laser to effectively "power through" fog or a blizzard. However, there will be some limitations to this. The other aspect is how to keep the LiDAR clean. Since the Luminar sensor is designed to be placed "high up" on the vehicle it is easier to keep clean vs. a LiDAR sensor that is placed down lower in the bumper.
Josh: How should we look at the competitive landscape with other LiDAR players and also including imaging radar companies?
Tom: 1) Tom does not know how many LiDAR companies will exist 10 years from now. But there will be less than today. There will be a day of reckoning over the next 12 to 18 months for some of the LiDAR companies. Again, there will be less companies 10 years from now, don't know how many, but Luminar will be one of them. 2) It all comes down to what you want the LiDAR to do. It is not the cheapest thing to put on the car ($1000). If an OEM is only focused on an ADAS system today with only incremental improvements he is not sure if buying a LiDAR for that purpose is worth it. Could an imaging radar system provide that kind of incremental benefit, perhaps yes.
Josh: Luminar issued guidance for doubling revenue this year. This was before Volvo announced a delay in the EX90 rollout. How are you able to maintain revenue guidance for this year.
Tom: We built a conservative model. Despite the Volvo delay, we are still planning for increased sensor sales (vs. last year). Their new factory is up and running. Other programs and other customers (not in the automotive space) will also grow. They have healthy NRE revenue. LSI (Components) subsidiary is growing (however the revenue here will actually be for next year vs. this year).
Josh: What are some of the customer assumptions for the doubling of revenue through 2025 and 2026.
Tom: Phase 1: Over next 12 months, Volvo and Polestar will begin shipping and they will continue with SAIC and some other customers that will build up. Phase 2: Mecedes and Nissan will come along in the middle part of the decade. The plan would be to reach a 100,000+ rate sometime next year (driven by the Volvo launch). The million-unit rate would be achieved in 2026 or 2027. Of the million-unit mark over 75% has already been booked. The remainder will be achieved via existing customers by expanding to additional vehicle lines.
Josh: What does "booked today" mean?
Tom: For those in the automotive industry, it means they have been officially awarded the vehicle program, they have an agreement in place with the customer, they have a rough sense of timing. The risk is how many vehicles will the OEM sell. Example: Volvo - Luminar will be on every EX90. What is unknown is how many EX90s will Volvo sell next year. Luminar uses IHS who does industry forecasting to come up with an estimated number. The only elements considered booked with Volvo is the EX90 and EX90 Excellence. All the other models are not considered booked.
Josh: You have provided some margin targets - gross margin positive exiting this year. 35% in 2025. Longer term 65% gross margin.
Tom: ASP will be $1000 (plus or minus) range. The $1000 includes the BOM, the conversion costs, and then some drib and drab costs (like warranty). They use 3rd party partners like Fabrinet and Celestica to manufacture the sensor. They believe the cost a sensor will be $650 (plus or minus) once they get to scale in late 2024 or 2025 timeframe. Longer term, their next generation product (ready in the 2nd half of the decade) they believe they can get the cost down to $350 by bringing down the BOM cost and the conversion cost (i.e. manufacturing cost).
Josh: You have said you have enough capital to reach cash flow breakeven. What assumptions are baked into that? You did a shelf earlier this year.
Tom: The shelf is based upon them getting a lot of calls about M&A opportunities. Many companies are struggling to raise money right now. This would be for opportunistic M&A. They referenced some recent examples: Seagate LiDAR business, Argo Princeton operation, Velodyne/Ouster India operation, and Simple Map as examples). If an acquiree wants cash, they wanted an ability to act nimbly but then have the ability to backfill that cash by selling equity from the shelf. Tom reiterated they have enough cash to get to profitability. Cash burn will come down meaningfully toward the end of the year due to the one-time launch costs they have now.

2023.06.02 00:37 unibods Trump Thursday - Death penalty

From video:
"For three decades before my election, drug overdose deaths increased every single year. Under my leadership, we took the drug and fentanyl crisis head on, and we achieved the first reduction in overdose deaths in more than 30 years. I also proudly signed the Support Act, the largest investment ever in combating the opioid epidemic.
Sadly, under Joe Biden, our hard-won progress has been surrendered along with the surrender of our southern border. It's such a shame. Now fentanyl and other ultra-deadly poisons are pouring into our country unchecked, stealing more than 100,000 American lives every single year, and many people think that real number is 3 to 400,000. Joe Biden's record is one of death, destruction, and misery in communities all across our nation.
When I'm back in the White House, I will take action on day one to end this horrific plague and save American lives. Joe Biden will never solve the drug overdose crisis because he is actively destroying our border.
[The following paragraph starts out like that, goes nowhere. - unibods]
What he has done to our border, we had the safest border in the history of our country, and now we have the worst border, probably anywhere in the world, including third-world countries.
That's why I have previously announced I will impose a full naval embargo on the drug cartels and deploy military assets to inflict maximum damage on cartel operations. I will insist on the full cooperation of neighboring governments to dismantle the trafficking and smuggling networks in our region, and I will ask Congress to ensure that drug dealers, kingpins, and human traffickers receive the death penalty.
At the same time, I will direct federal law enforcement here in the United States to take down the gangs and organized street crime that distribute these deadly narcotics on a local level. They are killing our people. They are poisoning our beautiful children. I will permanently designate fentanyl as a federally controlled substance, and I will tell China that if they do not clamp down on the export of fentanyl's chemical precursors, they will pay a steep price.
I had a deal worked out with President Xi. They weren't going to be sending anymore, and they were going to impose the death penalty on those that made it in China. But with a rigged election, that ended. Attacking the supply of these deadly drugs will be just the beginning. We must also do more to end the scourge of addiction here at home. Among the most important steps we can take is to strengthen the pillars that give life, meaning, and hope for those struggling with addiction, particular work, faith, and family. We need work, faith, and family.
My administration will support measures to make it easier for those suffering from addiction to seek treatment without losing their jobs. We will forge new public-private partnerships for companies willing to provide job opportunities and skills training for former addicts. We will expand federal support for faith-based counseling, treatment, and recovery programs, recognizing that we are going to need God's help to steer our country out of this crisis.
Finally, we will ensure that if a parent-child spouse or other relative needs to take time to care for a loved one fighting to overcome addiction, they are more easily able to take advantage of the family leave program. So important. When I'm President, we will not rest until we have ended the drug addiction crisis in America, we will win. It will happen. We have to win, though, in 2024, because our country is going to hell. Thank you."

2023.06.02 00:24 DariusIV I still walk alone, Outcast DH update and in-depth card analysis with cuts and additions for the miniset meta.

Heya folks, I had a few people ask for a revision to my previous post. So this is that. I'll link my old post, since a great deal of that analysis is still relevant. I'm currently sitting at rank 30 legend and I got there with an absolutely incredible winrate playing basically all day today.
Here's my old post, I'd suggest taking a read of it first if you want a good baseline of how to play this deck.
https://www.reddit.com/CompetitiveHS/comments/133g830/outcast_dh_i_walk_alone_top_1k_legend_guide/
And here is the current list.
### Halveria Simp # Class: Demon Hunter # Format: Standard # Year of the Wolf # # 2x (0) Dispose of Evidence # 2x (0) Through Fel and Flames # 2x (1) Crimson Sigil Runner # 2x (1) Fierce Outsider # 2x (1) Illidari Studies # 2x (1) Vicious Slitherspear # 2x (2) SECURITY!! # 2x (2) Spectral Sight # 2x (2) Wayward Sage # 2x (2) Wretched Exile # 2x (3) Hawkstrider Rancher # 1x (3) Lady S'theno # 1x (3) Rush the Stage # 1x (4) Felerin, the Forgotten # 2x (4) Glaivetar # 1x (4) Halveria Darkraven # 2x (7) Vengeful Walloper # AAECAZ+aBgT7vwSkkgXn9QXr9QUNs6AEtKAEiLIE+b8EpeIEiJIFj5IFlJIFhaoFpMMF9MMF5OQF4fgFAAA= # # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone
So lets talk about what I've cut and what I've kept and what I've changed.
First off, predation is an absolute cut. The pay off of deal 2 damage just isn't good enough anymore. Even when you meet the condition to make it free, it just doesn't feel that strong. When you have it sitting in hand with no naga it just feels awful. I don't like it, I cut it, the deck performs better for it.
Added, through the fel and the flames. This card is absolutely bonkers. There is almost no situation where this feels bad at all. Even drawn super early it can usually enable some kind of value trade that allows it to go one for one, which is really all you can ask of a card. Given it can both buff and activate s'teno, this card is an easy inclusion would strongly recommend.
Kept, dispose of the evidence. I hear people are cutting this card, which is bonkers to me. Yes it feels bad to draw early and be down a card, but honestly there are some matchups (Frost DK), where this isn't even remotely the end of the world. It is so crucial to winning late, I'd never dream of cutting it. It is a frustrating card, but a powerful one
Cut, one rush the stage. Credit Luna over on twitch for this one, it is the first place I saw this and I whole heartedly agree. You only have 6 rush minions in the deck, two of which you almost always keep off the mulligan (fierce outsider). Rush the stage is way too often a draw one or a completely dead card. You don't even really want it until the midgame anyways, a one of is the right number.
Experimented with and cut. Wrathscale Naga. Just not a fan of this card at all. It looks great on paper, till you realize the dream of trading those 1/1 rushers in for face damage doesn't really happen that often, because you have to have opposing minions to trade into to kill your minions. Above and beyond that, it is very RNGy and I'd rather have more ways of cycles through my deck. Best case scenario you go from way behind to roughly even on board, then you give them a whole new turn to develop. This card just doesn't work.
Added Spectral Sight, there is no question this card is important. There are so many times you're cycling through your deck for the Halveria, glaivetar or dispose of the evidence. Having this card is an instant reload and it allows you to more confidently and fully commit to your early board, knowing that at any point you have a reload.
Kept, hawkstrider. This card is just too good. Critical for most control matchups and a great win more card to lock out a board based opponent that fell behind.
Cut, Pozzik. Hot take, but Pozzik just isn't that good folks. He is a 5/4 for 4 mana and if you don't play him exactly on 4, then he is fairly easy for most decks to deal with. Even worse, there are times you can't play him at all, because he is a vanilla 5/4, they can trade into him after they develop both bots. Maybe he works in other aggro decks, but not this one. Major cut.
Here are my combined stats for the past two days since the meta changes.
Overall 50-28 since the miniset dropped.
DK 15-15, Blood is very much unfavored, if they have blood boil by turn 5, it is gonna be rough. That said, frost actually feels favored for you. Yes that strikes against common wisdom, but you have incredibly explosive starts and all you need to do if whack their face enough to be able to kill them over the top with glaivetar and dispose of the evidence. Try to find a way to stick a wretched outcast or hold a walloper going into their turn 7, that way you're not getting 5+5+5+10 from double frostworm fury and losing a game you absolutely dominated the board on.
DH 6-3 better outcast player wins :)
Druid 1-0 rip druid
Hunter 2-1 Rip Hunter
mage 2-2 Mage is annoying, the fact there aren't that many of these is a god send, this feels like it could be a bad matchup.
Paladin 6-1 Your tools vs paladin are just so strong.
Priest 9-0 Control priest feels like it should be hard, but you always just seem to get there. Shadow is heavily favored for you. It's one of the few matchups you really need to prioritize your own health total though, as they damn do they hurt.
Rogue 2-1
Shaman 0-1
Warlock 2-1
Warrior 5-4. Every flavor of warrior feels winnable. Hawkstriders are key here to avoiding that annoying enrage warrior aoe. You'll come on line quicker than they will, but you have to respect their potential. Focus on building durable boards, and for the love of god keep those hawkstiders off the mulligan.

2023.06.02 00:08 NBAjjchamberlain NBA Finals 2023 - Five Strategies to Watch

This year’s NBA Finals is already historic. The Heat are the first play-in team to claw their way out of a 44-38 record and 8th seed to land themselves in the NBA Finals. The Nuggets have never made a Finals, had the best record in the battle hardened West and the city is absolutely stoked. What are NBA heads saying about the series? What are fans around the world hoping to see? How are coaches going to keep these ballers away from Denver’s number one trending story of the year: Shotgun Willie’s Gentleman’s Club, which infamously siren songed the Grizzlies’ Ja Morant into stacking cash on every inch of the private dance room? Slap a booty and get ready for the last NBA basketball of the year.
1 - How to stop Nikola Jokic?
The two time MVP is having yet another killer season. He’s been, arguably, the best player in the playoffs of all time. He’s averging a triple double on 29.9 points, 13.3 assists, 10.3 rebounds and around 1 block and 1 steal per game. This guy can do it all and has undoubtedly contributed to the Heat coaching staff’s lack of sleep. Luckily the state just decrminalized a fanny pack of plant based drugs that may help.
Everyone knows how much the Heat love running zone defense. Can the zone even stop Jokic? Doubt it but the Heat are going to try. They run a fluid 2-3 zone which can flow directly into a 1-3-1 formation. The Heat need to pack the middle of the floor and push Jokic to the sidelines on the pick and roll using their 1-3-1. If the Heat can keep Jokic out of the middle of the floor that limits his options on the center-point guard pick and roll that he runs to perfection with Jamal Murray. Look for easy rebounds and putbacks on the weak side from Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr.
Can the Nuggets outshoot the zone? Damn right they can. Will they? We’ll see. The Heat run out and defend every single three point attempt. They held the sharp shooting Boston Celtics to 30% from 3, down from 37% during the regular season. However, this series may be won from the three point line if the Nuggets can run and the Heat can get Butler into the lane for kickouts.
2 - Who can guard Jimmy Butler?
Aaron Gordon most likely. We will see if he’s too slow to stay in front of Jimmy. If Butler still has that nagging injury he’s been battling the past two series that will help out AG. There are a couple bodies that the Nuggets can throw at James Effin Buckets. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is an underrated defender with sneaky strength. Reggie Jackson is rusty but used to be able to defend at a high level. Bruce Brown has the heart of fiesty chihuahua but he’s too small. Jamal is too small too. We’ve all seen what Jimmy’s done to smaller guards, he’ll bully his way to the lane and make defenders look stupid with his pump fakes, footwork, interior passing and little chip shots. If Jimmy gets stuffed this series, who will show up for the Heat?
3 - Malone vs Spo
Erik Spoelstra has solidified his standing as one of the greatest coaches of the era, possibly all time. This will be his 6th NBA Finals since taking over the reigns from Pat Riley in 2009. I have no doubt that Spo has some tricks in the bag and having the Godfather on speed dial doesn’t hurt either.
But Malone is no stranger to NBA legacies. His father Brendan was an assistant for the champion Pistons in the late 80’s and then again with the Knicks Finals run in 1999 and the Reggie Miller Pacers in 2000. Michael himself was an assistant during LeBron’s first Finals in 2007. So he does have some experience here in the promised land.
This coaching matchup will come down to, you guessed it, in-game adjustments. Each coach’s ability to change on the fly will be crucial to finding the weak points in each other’s schemes. Every possession will matter in these games. Look for Malone to push the pace with his crew and try to get some quick transition buckets before the Heat can set up their defense. Jokic excels in the rebound-and-go game. In the half court, Malone will try to move Jokic around to different points on the floor and it will be especially interesting when he puts Joker back to the basket in the post. He has the passing, vision, strength, length and creativity to be dangerous that close to the basket.
Spoelstra on the other hand will walk the ball up, play through Butler and try to swing the Nuggets defense from side to side. Expect him to set up Duncan Robinson and Max Strus on the wings where they can be dangerous driving or shooting the three off the Butler-Bam Adebayo pick and roll. Kevin Love can still knock down an open jumper and may have some post move tricks up his sleeve. But he’s so old he can’t even drive a golf cart anymore. Love can be another big body that Spo can put on Jokic to give him different defenders.
4 - Bench Scoring - Who will shine?
The bright lights may burn the bench guys but some will bask in the glory. Kyle Lowry is due for a big game after struggling against the Celtics top tier wing defenders. The Nuggets don’t have the bench defense to hold down all the Heat shooters so we will see a game won by a Heat backup, like we’ve seen in plenty of games so far this playoffs.
The Nuggets bench has issues. Jeff Green is too old. Christian Braun is too young. Reggie Jackson and Thomas Bryant have yet to work their way into the rotation. DeAndre Jordan is a mascot. However, expect some decent minutes from…Vlatko Cancar if the Heat bench is outperforming Green, Brown and Braun. Cancar can guard Love and Robinson. Really this Nuggets bench goes how Bruce Brown goes. If he has a hot game on both ends, the bench looks unstoppable. If he withers like a winter flower then the Heat bench will dominate like they’ve done all year.
5 - The crowd, the altitude, the experience, the refs
Intangibles. The stuff numbers can’t measure. The Nuggets crowd will be loud, fired up and intense. The Heat crowd, not so much. They’ve been spoiled over the years, show up late and leave early. They do wear the white shirts though which looks nice but makes the empty seats even more noticeable.
Do players play worse at altitude? Short answer, yes. Long answer, it depends. The altitude will effect the Heat at the beginning and end of games. The biggest concern is dehydration which means keeping the Heat out of the club and focused on basketball. Heat culture will play a big role here with everyone, top to bottom, 100% ready for each game.
The Heat have much more experience in the Finals than the Nuggets. They have two NBA champions in the rotation in KLove and KLow, three if you count the corpse of Udonis Haslem. They also have a few returning from their 2020 bubble Finals against the Lakers where they lost a heartbreaker to an Anthony Davis fall away three. This grizzled Heat team will be angry and hungry but what else is new? Their Finals experience may end up being the overriding factor in this series, especially among the coaching staffs. The Heat will stay calm and collected even with the intensity through the roof.
Finally, the NBA’s middle management, the refs. Who does the NBA want to win? What will revenue more? This is a coin flip. With the Lakers, Knicks, Celtics and Warriors all on the couch, gone fishin’ or 1-2-3 Cancunin’, the refs will likely call this series as even as they can. A Jokic ring would be the icing on the cake for Eastern European basketball which hasn’t ever had an MVP champion.
So who ya got? The Nuggets in 5 seems like a solid bet at +225 against a hobbled Heat team. But if the Heat push it to six and get back home expect them to finish hard and force a game 7. Heat in 7 is +1000 and it’s tough to bet against them the way they’ve defied all odds.

The vortex guardian slowly descended from the sky. A lot closer than Dallion imagined it to be, the being was still several dozen miles in the darkness, only visible as a partial orb of light; partial because some of it had been severed off. The voidlings he had faced had probably been much stronger than the chainling blobs, capable of breaking off chunks of light from an otherwise perfect sphere.
Thank the Moons, Dallion thought. Harp had been right that a one-to-one fight was a bit beyond him. The battle damage, though, changed everything. There had been a time when Dallion had faced the minion of the Purple Moon and the Star at full strength. Like now, the two peaks of power had focused on each other, gradually tearing themselves down to the point that he could effectively face them and even win. At the time Dallion had seen his actions as clever, now that he had gained a bit of force, he saw them as cowardly and also as a warning not to underestimate lesser opponents.
“Have you ever fought one of those?” Dallion summoned his armadil shield.
The dryad guardian gave a reply, but Dallion found himself incapable of hearing it. With the vortex guardian no more than five hundred feet away, his actual form had become visible within the glow, and it was nothing like he had expected.

Human? It took some effort for Dallion not to take a step back.
During his many travels through the realms, he had seen all sorts of guardians: insects, creatures, artificial constructs, members of the three banished races—feral or not. Not once had he heard of humans being banished. The worst that could happen to the free races was to get placed in a prison item for a number of decades, get delevelled, or have their awakening powers sealed. Banishment was used to describe someone chased out of a province of the empire itself. And yet, there was no denying the proof in front of him.
The vortex guardian was of a woman in her twenties. Made entirely of purple light, she was wearing what had been light armor of the same material. Her left shoulder was missing, along with the entire arm. Even so, there was no indication that she was in pain. For that matter, there was no indication she felt anything whatsoever. Just as Dallion wasn’t able to sense normal emotions from void creatures, the only thing he was getting from her was a constant sound of static.
In preparation for the fight, Dallion split into sixty instances. He was half expecting the guardian to do the same. She didn’t.
Glowing eyes with barely a hint of humanity glanced at Dallion, after which the guardian darted towards him, sword in hand.
Dallion parried while the rest of his instances spread out, each casting a different spell. When it came to magic damage to one instance could well deal damage to all the rest. The blade of magic slammed into his harpsisword and stopped. For a fraction of a second, surprise became visible on the guardian’s face, as if she expected for the attack to pass through.
Spells rained at her from all sides, passing through as if she weren’t there.
Instances can’t harm her, Harp said. You must stick to reality only.
Similar to what Nil had done, Dallion thought. Actually, the similarities between the last awakening trial and the current vortex were too many to be mere coincidence. Vortex towers, void presence, even the echo’s ability to avoid attacks seemed more like a warning of things to come. The only problem was that like most warnings sent by the Moons, they were only visible in hindsight.
Magic symbols appeared all over the guardian’s body, like glowing tattoos. There were too many for Dallion to make out the possible spells they would create, which was why he went on the offensive with a spark line attack.
A third of the symbols faded out as the rest cast a series of aether barriers in front of the guardian. Ever multiplying, they shattered as quickly as they were created, though in the process managed to delay the strike for just long enough for the guardian to block it.
The mage principle held true—even with the impressive trait values, the guardian remained a spellcaster, not a fighter. Her initial attack was supposed to be a certain hit—magic wasn’t restrained by the physical. The guardian probably expected her blade to go through the harpsisword.
“Ruby,” Dallion said as he rushed forward with another line attack.
Wind slashes combined with the thread of destruction.

A hit. It wasn’t much, but it confirmed Dallion’s suspicions. Lacking one arm, and a lot of health, the guardian could only rely on secondary methods for casting spells, making her vulnerable to fast-paced disruptive attacks.
“There’s no need to fight,” Dallion said, adding slowness into his words. He knew that a guardian of her caliber would never fall for a music attack, but as things stood, every little bit was to his advantage. “We’re both human, after all.”
The music strands snapped long before they reached their intended target. However, his physical attacks kept her on the defensive. No longer seen as invulnerable, the guardian didn’t appear as threatening as before. Now she was closer to a low-level noble: powerful, yet with just enough weaknesses for one to take advantage.

Another of Ruby’s wing attacks managed to sneak through, reducing the guardian’s health to fifteen percent.
“The voidlings must have done a number on you.” Dallion unsummoned his armadil shield. He no longer needed that arm to defend himself; a lot more could be done by casting spells.
The harpsisword slashed half an inch from the woman’s torso. If he got a bit better, the fight could end right away.
“Acacia is a nice name,” Dallion pressed on. Aether projectiles shot out from his left hand, following an elliptical path to their target. Similar to Ruby’s attacks, most were negated by the guardian’s defenses, but a few managed to pass through, stacking up three red rectangles. “I didn’t know humans could be banished.”
You must have done something pretty terrible to deserve such punishment, he thought. Was it related to the Moons? Is it a curse?
“My task is an honor,” the guardian said, her voice high and echoy very much like the combination of sounds that Harp used when talking to Dallion. “And I’ll keep doing it after this fight is over.”
With seven percent health left, that sounded a bit optimistic. There was no way she could win at this point, no way for her even to manage a draw. Dallion’s greatest fear was that she’d perform an explosive spell in an attempt to take him with her. Yet, the guardian persistently continued casting protective barriers and on occasion try to counterattack in the moments between Dallion’s line attacks.
One could tell that she was trying to analyze his combat pattern. Her own, though, was somewhat off. The style was generally outdated, although it was difficult to tell for certain since she had only one arm to work with.
Why aren’t you fighting closer to the floor? Dallion wondered.
The deadly spikes emerging from it would have provided her with a definite advantage. The magic of the vortex wasn’t capable of harming her. For that matter, why had she fought the voidlings in the air?

MINOR STRIKE
Damage dealt is increased by 10%

One percent life. A single strike was all that kept Dallion from achieving victory. It was tempting to let up a bit and give himself some slack. In the past, Dallion would have probably done so, allowing himself a brief conversation with the guardian. Now he knew better. The all-out attack was the only reason he hadn’t received any damage in the last fight. If he gave his opponent a chance, he might end up on the other foot, granting her the means to eject him from the vortex, or even worse.
“Sorry,” Dallion said, following up with a multi point attack.
Aether barriers shattered in the hundreds. No longer to keep up with the attacks, the stacks thinned, then disappeared altogether.

CRITICAL STRIKE
Damage dealt is increased by 200%
VORTEX GUARDIAN has been defeated.

The purple rectangle emerged, marking the end of the fight. All magic spells cast by the guardian abruptly vanished. She, on the other hand, remained there.
Without hesitation, Dallion quickly places his left hand on her forehead. This was it, the moment every mage waited for. Dallion had found the hard way that, as difficult as dispersing a vortex was, it never came with a guarantee of absorption. Unlike awakening, mages were owed nothing—they had to take it.
Magic threads came out of Dallion’s fingers, then pulled hers in. A surge of power went through his body, filling him up with energy.

You have assimilated the GUARDIAN’s magic, increasing your magic trait to twenty-seven.

As Dallion’s magic increased, that of the vortex dwindled. The threads composing the floor melted away, transforming it into a wireframe construct, then even they were gone, leaving Dallion in the Nerosal ruins corridor, a foot above the ground. All the gear he had started with was on him once more, as was Ruby. However, there was something different about the shardfly. There was a faint glow coming from its red wings. Also, it had slightly grown in size.
“You leveled up,” Dallion said in surprise. “Good job.”
From within his realm, Nox meowed, annoyed. Having to constantly deal with magic had prevented the crackling from leveling up. The only consolation was that Dallion had used his newfound abilities to grant it and the other inhabitants of his realm with new skills.
Joy, pride, and a sense of achieavement emanated from Ruby. The creature flew a circle round Dallion, then went back to its spot on his shoulder. A few moments later, its wings reduced in size.
“Illusion?” Dallion asked.
Partial, Ruby replied.
The shardfly was definitely following in Gleam’s footsteps.
With the vortex gone—and once Dallion had cast a new light spell—the inside of the room was visible. Similar to everything else in the ruins, it was mostly empty. The difference was that the few things that remained were items of a lot more modern nature and definitely something that most people wouldn’t normally use.
Parchment, quills, small shadowtech devices… Dallion had no idea what they were supposed to do. Despite a vaguely familiar Earth design, they remained alien, as if someone was copying foreign technology and guessing how it functioned.
“Clever. You made these during the festivals,” Dallion said. All those times that Adzorg pretended to hide away from the festivals, he was actually here, working on his grand device. As a former mage, he might even have had an agreement with the lord mayor to “explore” the ruins in search of dangerous devices, vortexes, or Moons know what else. Even so, he was a bit careless leaving this behind. Someone with a bit of knowledge would have easily seen the magic symbols on the paper.
Anyone here? Dallion asked.
The items seemed to have been placed there before he’d arrived in the city. There was no way that Adzorg would fear them talking to anyone. Unfortunately, there were no responses. The old mage had covered his tracks yet again. The only clue that he left was his work.
One by one, Dallion gathered all pieces of paper, writing materials, and strange devices. There weren’t many of them. With no engineers in the world, it was going to be difficult to make anything out, especially since they were considered failures to be left behind.
What are you thinking? The armadil shield asked.
“A few things.” Dallion examined one of the devices closer. No larger than a lighter, it was made of multiple pieces of metal—alloys containing sun gold—though no gears or obvious power source. And, while the world was unfamiliar with concepts regarding electronics or advanced engineering, someone in the Shimmering Circle might.

2023.06.01 22:44 Debtfree23 Update - Debt Payoff Journey - May Numbers and Celebrating a Big Win!

So... me again... this will be a shorter post today, if you want to read my whole journey it's in my post history. TLDR: I'm paying down six figures of consumer debt and posting my journey along the way.
My goal in May was to pay off the loan I was snowballing, which I had taken out to pay off a high interest credit card. At the end of April, I owed $2150.70 on it. Soooo... I did it! Yesterday I made the final payment and the balance of that loan is now ZERO. The loan originally was for $17,000, and I paid it off in less than 2 years. Feeling pretty good about it.
Next on the list to tackle: my truck loan, which as of today I owe $3712.08. My goal is to pay it off completely by July 15.
Once my truck is paid, only two more credit products left: Credit card which is at $26,723.53 Line of credit which is at $35,850.03
Total debt at the end of April was: $69,616.94 Total debt at the end of May is now: $66,285.64
To be continued!

2023.06.01 22:42 Hawkholly The spreadsheet I created for ranked matches has been updated! (EN Server)

Hi, I posted my original spreadsheet a few months ago! The link is here, and it has been updated to reflect the new difficulty ranges for each ranking, as they have changed with this current ranked season.
I've also added some statistics at the bottom of each ranking's sheet, so you can more easily see them (such as how many wins/losses you have, how many songs of each difficulty are in each ranking, etc).
To edit the spreadsheet, make your own copy from File -> Copy. Then you can re-name it, change the colors, re-sort the songs how you like, fill in the columns, add in other stuff you want to track, etc.
You will need to add in each song as it releases, because once you make your own copy, it won't update based on my template.
There are a few things you can use this spreadsheet for.
  1. To track which songs you've actually played, because if you're like me, you're just curious and you want to know what all you've gotten so far lmao.
  2. Track your wins and losses count for each song - see which ones you actually need to practice more.
  3. Easily see which songs are available in each ranking, and see which difficulty/level number you would be most likely to get in a ranked match if you are trying to concentrate your practice in one specific area.
I tried to make sure I got every song, but please let me know if there's any mistakes!
Hope you enjoy :)
