2023.05.25 01:33 scarymaxx Everything at Target is soaked in blood. Does anyone else notice?

When I was a kid, I’d always shop at JCPenney when it was time to go back to school. Then the JCPenney closed, and we switched to Target. I’m not sure if the blood was always there, and I just didn’t notice it, but by the time I turned thirteen, I couldn’t ignore it anymore.
The clothes were the worst, of course. All the shirts and pants were wet to the touch. The plastic bags full of socks squished when I touched them.
My dad and my little sister Mia didn’t seem to notice. I saw her take shirt after shirt into the dressing room, and she’d come out with her skin and hair smeared red and stinking of iron. But then she’d just smile and do a twirl in the mirror and head back to try on another one.
I thought about mentioning it, but since both of them seemed not to notice, it seemed like a bad idea.
“Dad,” I said. “I think I’m going to throw up. Can I wait outside?”
“Good idea,” he said. He handed me a five dollar bill. “Sometimes cold water helps.”
As I started walked for the exit, I felt something wet fall against my nose. I looked up at the ceiling to see all of the rectangular tiles up there rimmed red, the fluorescent lights dripping liquid. And when my own breath grew quiet, I began to hear a low moan, like a thousand dying men gurgling a forgotten hymn.
I began to run and slipped in a sticky pool. I was covered in a wet smear now, my clothes soggy and sticky at the same time, as if I’d murdered someone and rolled around in the evidence. The hymn was growing louder, the singers invisible. I tried not to scream as I ran and ran, the other shoppers giving me strange looks as I finally found the exit and departed into the hot, dry air.
I sat on the curb, trying to catch my breath. Trying to pretend it was all a bad dream, but every time I saw someone exit the store, their cart full of clothes or groceries or toys, the stuff was all drenched with blood, another reminded.
Later, my dad and Mia emerged from the store with soggy shopping bags and tossed them in the trunk of the van. The whole way home, I heard the blood sloshing around in the bottoms of the bags.
*
Back at home, my mom saw the panicked look in my eyes and said we should talk.
“You saw it, didn’t you?” she asked, and I nodded weakly.
“What happened?” I asked.
“I’m not really sure,” she said. “But it’s something I started to notice when I was a teenager. Everything at Sears was just dripping with blood. Wal-Mart too. If you start to look carefully, you’ll see some items are worse than others. Like, stuff from certain countries is just drenched. Or companies that use… certain kinds of labor.”
I gave her a confused look.
“Well, like, places where they don’t protect the workers very well,” my mom explained. “Try unboxing a phone sometime. You’ll see. The whole case will just be soaked. That’s why I always do it outside. Handmade stuff is usually a bit better.”
“Is it really blood?”
“I think so. Or… maybe some kind of ghost blood. My personal theory is that when workers die or get hurt producing things, it adds a kind of psychic residue.”
“But what do we do?” I asked. “How do we make it go away?”
“We can’t, really," she said apologetically. “You just sort of learn to live with it. I try to see the bright side. I try to only buy stuff I really need. Now you can do the same.”
She gave me a little hug and a smile. Then she headed back to the garden, where she was harvesting carrots. Those, at least, were blood-free.
Upstairs in my room, I saw now that everything I’d held so precious was now filthy, stained with dried blood, disgusting to look at. Red-brown smears caked my Barbies’ hair, my favorite dresses, my shoes. There was nothing left unstained.
For a second, I just stood there. And then I started screaming. I screamed and screamed until my mother ran upstairs.
“Make it go away,” I said, crying in her arms. “Make it go away.”
“Oh honey, I wish I could,” she said. “But you’ve seen it now. Welcome to the real world.”

2023.05.24 14:55 HiFiHawk1987 Anybody Try These 3 Wicks From JCPenny?

Saw these. Anybody sample them out. 3 or more makes them $10 each. https://www.jcpenney.com/p/distant-lands-14-oz-3-wick-sugared-pecan-jar-candle/ppr5008326798?pTmplType=regular&deptId=dept20000011&catId=cat100240140&rrplacementtype=pdppla1_jrecs
I checked myself this time :) and codes don't work with the 3 or more offer. Tried the 25% one and it applied $0.00 off :) Though I dropped one candle added a $5.99 clearance 3 wick and the two 3 wicks left became $9.09 each so play around. I'm reading the reviews and perhaps I will grab the three. I have blueberry vanilla, sugared pecan and gather together in my cart. Or maybe the Cafe Au Lait or Sea Breeze. A few look pretty good.

2023.05.21 03:20 Raptor--Red Good men's dress shirts for small butches

I want to look dapper but I'm tiny. (Neck size 12.5 in. sleeve size 29in.).
Are there any good options that look well for formal events with suit jackets?
Online is fine
Boys shirts are fine
EDIT: I found a shirt! Also, my gf mismeasured me. I'm actually 13.5/31. That's just big enough to fit into an XL boy's shirt, which is what I ended up getting. This one specifically.

2023.05.05 17:02 Bohemian_traveller REVIEW. Ambrielle Satin With Lace Thong Panty

I picked up three of these thongs. Originally, I really wanted it in black, but they never seemed to have it in stock. I ended up with the red, blue and lilac lavender (which I really like now too.)
This thong fits great, fits accurate, holds in the boys all day with zero spillage. The fabric in the front feels great and overall I hardly know I'm wearing a panty. I've worn these under slacks, khakis, and high rise jeans. These are a great addition to your panty drawer, Gents. I feel sexy in them, I love the colors and the fit/fabric is amazing. I ordered and did a pick up at my local store to avoid any shipping fees, i'm past caring what retail employees think of my panty wearing.

I recommend these 100%, and they often do go on sale:, for example I just saw right now they are 6 for $5 and normally $14/ea so it's a good deal.
https://www.jcpenney.com/p/ambrielle-satin-with-lace-thong-panty/ppr5008109196?pTmplType=regular&country=US¤cy=USD&selectedSKUId=17916870075&selectedLotId=1791687&fromBag=true&utm_medium=cse&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Thong%20Panties&utm_content=17916870075&cid=cse%7Cgoogle%7CWomens%7cThong%20Panties_17916870075&kwid=productads-adType%5EPLA&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-aiIh7fe_gIVQh6tBh1eJQBEEAQYBCABEgLD6_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
NOTE: (I started wearing women's jeans so that I can match my panty rise to the jean rise to avoid most whale tales. The major only difference between women and mens jeans is the depth of the front pocket. I get women's loose style jeans and they look like mens jeans, but the rise of the jean is different and great for wearing panties FYI)

2023.04.18 15:42 MindFuktd Can I use (Men's) Oxford-style shoe for ballroom dance practice?

Male, pretty new to ballroom dancing (~3-months). Instructors suggesting I upgrade my shoes from Vans lol. Is a canvas oxford style shoe acceptable (such as the link below) or should I just get a ballroom-only style pair off amazon?

2023.04.03 23:05 SinkBrilliant4236 Glow up under $100

I see a lot of people on here asking for advice and more or less most could benefit from the same basic feedback and it doesn't cost that much. I'm not dragging anybody, it's just these are the most "bang for your buck" solutions in my opinion.
  1. Hair, facial hair, and brows: You can get a cheap haircut from an esthetician/barber school for a few bucks. I just checked at a place near me and even a women's cut only costs $10. You can ask them for guidance and advice on what they think would look good on you. They should be supervised by a master stylist and if they are totally stuck, they can ask them for help. For brows, A derma planing razor costs $1. Clean up any wild hairs around the edges and comb with a spoolie. If you have long unruly brow hairs (like myself) comb the hairs upward with a spoolie and then trim the tips that go past the edge of the brow. Unless you're really good at this, leave the general shape alone. If they're not identical don't stress. Brows are sisters not twins. Be careful to not over do it. If you've got really thin brows, you can get a cheap comb-through product. This makes a huge difference as brows frame the face. If your facial hair is a little unruly clean up the edges and make sure you don't have a flavor savor going. If you can't grow full facial hair either shave it off or look into filling it in. If your hair gets greasy fast (like mine) wash all your hair brushes in the sink with some warm water and dish soap.
  2. Skincare: If you're having problems with your skin try a sensitive skin cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen for 6-8 weeks. You can get an ok skincare routine going for only $20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5r9GLcJSzI From there, a cheap acne treatment is The Ordinary Salicylic Acid Anhydrous 2%. It's $6. The inkey list, cerave, and cetaphil have great affordable options as well. Vaseline is also a great lip balm that pretty much everyone has.
  3. Figure out your colors. All black looks are fine, but there are certain colors that are going to flatter you more than others. If you're totally lost, most people look good enough in jewel tones. Green, blue, red. If that's too bold, you can go with a muted green, maroon, or navy/royal blue. I see a LOT of all-black, which is fine but don't be afraid to try a few colors. Very few people look great in gray. Start by shopping your own closet and get rid of the things that don't flatter you. You can pick up some new T-shirts for a few bucks. For women, H&M has some great basic crop tops in a variety of colors. Also, wear a shirt that actually fits you. I see a lot of guys in shirts that are too big. The seam should hit at the shoulder unless you're going for an intentionally oversized look.
  4. Take a nice photo. Take your photo in nice light. Face a window and make sure your mirror is clean and the background is tidy. Almost no one looks good shooting at an upward angle. Have one with a neutral expression and one with a little smile. An approachable look does wonders. An easy confident pose is to spread your feet a little apart with one slighty in front of the other. Rock your weight back onto that back foot. Turn the same shoulder as your forward foot slightly toward the camera.
  5. Physical activity: Planet fitness has $10 membership. Benefits to your health start at 15 minutes a WEEK of moderate physical activity. Obviously, you'll need more if you want to be super fit, but everyone has to start somewhere. Realistically you can do a basic resistance training regimen 2x a week and see decent results. (Source: ACSM Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription. I have a BS in exercise science and this thing is our bible).
  6. Clothes: If you can't afford a whole new wardrobe, get one nice jacket. I'm not saying a hoodie or a puffy coat. Get something fashionable with a little bit of structure to it. A bomber, demin, sherpa lined, or something along those lines in a neutral color that you can wear with anything. I consider red almost an honorary neutral. I saw a bunch online for $40 or less.
Mens (just a few ideas. You're not limited to these styles. Literally just the first 3 I saw):
Shein Amazon JCP
Womens: UA Gap ASOS

2023.03.23 19:12 wheatencross1 where to go from here - maintaining straight, fine hair without it looking like a poofy mess

hey fellas. I've got an abundance of medium length, straight fine hair that I never quite know what to do with. This is what it looks like unstyled; it tends to be pretty fluffy. With some paste thrown in, I usually try to get it to look more like this or this (please excuse the face). or this. Basically I just try to make it go back / to the side without exposing any cowlicks or parting lines.

2023.03.11 17:59 batmannorm Cooling Pillow Case/Covers

So I thought I would throw this out there. I put it out there on the mattress sub, but I thought I would give it a shot here. I have tested a bunch of pillows over the past several months/years. If you have seen my posts, there are a lot of them. Some, like my Brooklyn Bedding Pillow, came with that cool to the touch cooling cover. Scientifically, I suppose that the fabric may draw heat from your body and wick away the heat and perspiration. I have no expectations that is will keep me/anyone cool all night. But it is a nice feeling cover and pillow cases slip on nice and easy. Have any of you purchased just the cooling covers, if so what brand, how do you like them? JC penny has a serta brand with the same style knit as my BB. ( https://www.jcpenney.com/p/serta-perfectsleeper-cool-crystal-pillow-protectoppr5008274446?pTmplType=regular) I have seen a nice "looking" one on amazon (sleepavo cooling pillow case) but have not tried either of them. Coop makes a cover too. What do you all think about these covers? If nothing else it keeps the pillows clean. I know there are issues with washing and drying, care needs to be taken or the case gets destroyed. What say you all on using as a cover, cooling, and a vehicle to slip you pillows in your pillow cases?
