So back in the day me and my buddy always downloaded those free games from Softonic, so the game I’m trying to find could be a demo from the full game. Graphics/art style: For the time being realistic. The overall color scheme of the game was very orange/yellow. example: the grass was yellow dried up (what impressed me at that time is dat you’ll could change the density of the grass, lol) Notable characters: Zombies or Infected farmers with overalls. I believe there was a small intro before you could play the game, where a pilot is crashing down in grass field after that. You spawn in a small outdoor map (Texas vibes?) surrounded by barbed wire fences with a day and night cycle, a big rock in the middle with an old wooden windmill on top. I remember you could only shoot with a sniper. And the gameplay was to survive endless of waves from Zombies/Infected farmers. The attached link is exactly how I remember the game, but the picture is more like a point an click game, where in the game I’m looking for you could roam around and run freely. https://play-lh.googleusercontent.com/HFb8cGK1tpVxxbzqMbqes3GipHN2kjZJbtMNli8ECqG4UgACTRW6PO1OA8FTjdKdPYI I've been looking for this game for ages now!

Haven't used paypal in awhile, so when i try to make a transfer from my bank account, it asks for a security check. Couldn't do the security check as my account was linked to an old number that is no longer active, updated my info, but it still won't allow me to do anything without a security check, and it won't give me a security check with my new number. How do I fix this? Should I just delete the account and reopen a new one?

2023.06.07 14:30 MakerOfMillionaires [Announcement] /r/MillionaireMakers stands in solidarity with other subreddits in protest of Reddit’s API changes!

Background

In case you haven’t heard, first of all, congratulations.
On July 1st, Reddit plans to change their API pricing structure to a model that will directly affect app developers, moderators, and third-party app users, among others.
Here is a link to an open letter by many of the moderators and communities on the platform in protest of the changes: https://www.reddit.com/ModCoord/comments/13xh1e7/an_open_letter_on_the_state_of_affairs_regarding/

How This Affects Us

The moderators of /MillionaireMakers use third-party apps to perform their moderation duties best on Reddit. Apollo in particular has been used to post on different accounts, post and sticky relevant threads and comments, access mod mail to communicate with winners, and monitor user activity on the subreddit, some of the features personally paid for to both support the developer and be able to moderate more effectively. It’s also a good app to browse Reddit with, the functionality is intuitive and the design combines the best of Reddit and iOS’s design language.
Another aspect that this could affect us is that the introduction to API pricing can now mean being charged to run an Entry Thread. I say could as our API usage in contrast to a third-party app is minuscule, both in scale and in frequency (occasional Decembers not withstanding). However, this is still a serious concern as currently the only financial costs of maintaining the subreddit have been in renewing the website running the mailing list.

How This Affects You

For you, if you use a third-party app like Apollo, Reddit Is Fun, and Sync, then the main way you use Reddit is going to be changed. You must use the official app to explore the platform, of which there could be features lacking in the official version and the potential for trackers. This also puts into risk other features that you may use, such as navigating on old.reddit.com to access the platform.
In addition, your moderators will not be able to moderate. People that rely on third-party apps to access Reddit and perform their moderation duties will find it much more cumbersome or even impossible, as there will undoubtedly be times where there is no easy access to a computer. You will see more spam and irrelevant content without the help of moderators.

What Are We Doing

First of all: We will not be putting our subreddit on private, nor will we cancel the Entry Thread!
We believe that setting this subreddit to private will be either ineffective or, more consequently, detrimental to what the subreddit stands for, and cancelling the Entry Thread, even moreso. Threads here are already limited as it is, with the only posts being from the mod team and from the winners. Additionally, a shutdown will prevent easy access to winner’s donation information.
However, we want to bring as much awareness to the issue as possible! We introduced the API changes when they were first announced as something we’d pay close attention to, we are currently making this Announcement thread expressing our solidarity with other subreddits, and we will once again highlight the issue come this month’s Entry Thread, which will take place as scheduled on June 16 at 23:00 UTC. The most unfortunate case scenario is for this issue to evolve into the new normal, and we want to do everything in our power to prevent that.

What Can You Do

If you’re a user, there are many things you can already do, such as spreading the word on a different platform or contacting the admins expressing your concerns. However, I would also like to encourage the idea of joining a new platform, even if at the moment there are not as many users as you’d expect there to be. After all, if you are the product, then it’d be a shame if there was no more product to go around. I’d recommend taking a look at Lemmy and Tildes. Note on Lemmy though, as you create your profile, use a less popular Lemmy instance such as sopuli.xyz or lemmy.one as the main instance is already sharing they’re experiencing server overload from the influx of people joining. Tildes also has a decently active subreddit as well over on /Tildes that you can access.
If you work in Reddit, please emphasize to the people around you how detrimental this can be for the health of the users and for the future of the platform. Reddit is not like Twitter, many users here actively participate in and read discussion, others volunteer their own free time out of passion for a community, and if an idea is popular, the community can band together to do incredible things. It is very possible for the people key to moderating on this platform to migrate away, thus introducing a host of problems that you all may not have even considered, and it may not be worth the risk of changing from the status quo into a structure that could have ramifications for communities on here.

Conclusion

We stand in support of subreddits for the ability to use third-party apps to perform our duties as moderators. We will continue to highlight this issue in the times to come. We encourage everyone possible to responsibly take action and see that a difference can be made.
As for the people working at Reddit, as moderators, we again implore you to think of the negative effects that the changes being brought can have as a whole. Moderators rely on these tools immensely and for them to be taken away can be incredibly detrimental. We appreciate your time and we hope that our actions all across the platform have helped you reconsider or become more active where you are.
Finally, thank you to the community at /MillionaireMakers for taking the time to read this. This is unprecedented for this subreddit, the last time there was a big non-traditional post was around the time of [Draw #73]. Thank you all for your kindness and your attention.

2023.06.07 14:27 odin28 Getting excited when family visits

Hello I have a neatly 10 month old Aussi. He is adorable and I don't had much issues with him. He did not chew on stuff he shouldn't and he is absolute amazing in doggy classes.
But when ever some of my family visits he gets super excited and jumping and if we ignore him he starts to bark and the lays down and starts to cry as if we hit him :/
Do you have a recommendation how to handle his excitement?
Whe I go out to visit friends or someone else comes by it's fine he gets a bit exited says hello and then mostly lays down and relax.

2023.06.07 14:26 IBTWSCL Suddenly reactive

Our dog Hester has suddenly become reactive, we t any figure out a trigger as it seems to be random. She’s 18 months old, Mal/gsd for a while it was just reacting to some dogs when on the lead, not all dogs though, and then reacting to people (our neighbours coming through the front garden, and sometimes people walking past the house. Today whilst out in a walk I stoped to talk to someone who said hello too and as we where chatting she lunged at another woman walking past, as far as I could tell with no warning, luckily I caught her (she was in the lead) but I’m pretty she that if I hadn’t she would have bitten the woman. Any advice on how to train this out? We can’t work out a clear trigger apart from other dogs when she’s on a lead. We won’t be letting her off lead again until this is sorted.

2023.06.07 14:26 Buyyours How can you figure out how much used heavy equipment is worth

How can you figure out how much used heavy equipment is worth
How can you figure out how much used heavy equipment is worth?
Whether you’re buying or selling, knowing how much secondhand heavy equipment is worth is critical to a successful transaction. Thousands of firms are in one of two positions. The first scenario involves a company that no longer requires a piece of heavy equipment and wants to sell it but is unsure of its true value. In the second situation, a company wishes to purchase heavy equipment without paying more than is necessary. Here’s a fast equipment value guide with all the details you’ll need, including how to assess the worth of secondhand heavy equipment.
Understanding Equipment’s Fair Market Value
Estimating the value of secondhand equipment is not as simple as it may appear. Sure, you can look on eBay or other sites to see what similar items are selling for, but that doesn’t tell you what they’re actually selling for or how long it takes for the equipment to sell in general. Getting the true worth of secondhand heavy equipment, whether it’s machine tools or tractors, is a little more difficult and necessitates insider information from someone who works in the selling of that equipment on a regular basis. Finding a used machinery dealer that is actively selling similar equipment is often the best approach to determine the true value of your machinery or equipment. In contrast to someone’s internet asking price, the dealer will be able to tell you what the market worth is today. When determining the value of, or making an offer on, your heavy equipment and machinery, they will evaluate market conditions, similar equipment available, previous auction sales, and a variety of other criteria.
What Factors Influence Heavy Equipment Prices?
Equipment values are influenced by a variety of important elements. It’s not easy to figure out how much used heavy equipment costs, but it’s a lot easier once you know what to look for.
First and foremost, you should research the typical lifespan of the piece of machinery you’re interested in. In other words, it refers to the length of one’s life. Depending on the type of equipment you’re contemplating, this is sometimes measured in years and other times in hours. Some manufacturers are known for producing high-quality equipment that can be anticipated to endure a long period, whereas lower-quality equipment wears out and breaks down much more quickly. As a result, if the piece of equipment you’re considering was badly constructed and has been in use for more than ten years, it might not be a suitable investment. On the other hand, if the machinery is in good condition and has only been used for 5 years, it could be a terrific deal.
While the predicted equipment longevity is significant, it is not the only factor to consider. If overused or exposed to the weather, even the best-built gear will break down or operate poorly. Look for indicators of environmental (exposure) damage or abuse from incorrect or excessive use when inspecting the equipment. If either is discovered, the value of the machinery plummets. The value of heavy equipment is complex, and it should be established with care. The following are some of the most common elements that influence values:

https://preview.redd.it/2kvc1xs5al4b1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=98134aed043bc0f4033e7a827db00a8ba0a9e165
  • Age
  • Availability of like Equipment
  • Condition
  • Continued Support/Parts availability
Finally, remember to factor in the worth that thing will have to you once it is in your possession and performing the function it is capable of. You may choose to spend a little more than the market for a system that is widely available or close to your location because the benefits may greatly outweigh the expenditures.
Now that you’ve learned about some of the most significant aspects of used heavy equipment pricing, it’s time to look at how to calculate fair market value.
How do you figure out how much used heavy equipment costs?
When searching to buy secondhand heavy equipment, you’ll want to know what the fair market value is. If there are no mitigating conditions, fair market value refers to what someone would normally pay for the same object. For example, if you urgently require a forklift and there is only one available used forklift in your area, and the seller is aware of this, they may be able to offer it for a higher price. Fair market value is an estimate that refers to the equipment’s natural value and is based on the assumption that there are no extenuating conditions. Knowing the fair market value is vital if you don’t want to overpay, as you would have anticipated.
How can you figure out what an item’s fair market value is? By contacting a certified equipment appraiser, abbreviated as ‘CEA’. A professional appraiser is the best person to determine the worth of heavy equipment. Certified equipment appraisers have years of experience and know-how to accurately evaluate used machinery using all of the tools available, including past auctions, independent sales, and market demand. That is if a seller claims a piece of old equipment is worth $70,000 but a professional equipment appraiser claims it is worth closer to $50,000, trust the evaluator.
Helpful Hints
If you’re seeking to sell some secondhand heavy equipment and want to obtain the greatest price, there are a few things you can do to improve your chances.
First and foremost, you should make a concerted effort to clean the equipment and make it pristine. Clean the area surrounding it as well; the cleaner your workspace is, the better you are believed to care for your equipment, and therefore the more valuable it will appear, making any flaws less destructive to its perceived value.
You should also film the device in action and upload it to YouTube. Demonstrations are preferable to videos since they may be viewed at any time.
Make sure you understand the true worth of your machinery and the factors that influence that value. It’s critical to understand that in order to negotiate properly and win, you’ll need to know how low you can go in terms of price without harming yourself.
If you’re buying a machine or heavy equipment, you’ll need to know the same thing, because any request for a price reduction or concession should be accompanied by substantive reasoning, such as “Well, the factory no longer supports this model” or “This control is obsolete and must be upgraded before it fails in production to avoid costly downtime,” and so on. Whatever your justification for requesting a price reduction, it should be supported by a thorough understanding of the equipment and market value, never by statements like “Well, that’s just what I believe it’s worth.”

Finally, whether you’re buying or selling, the most critical element is that you interact with a qualified and reputable machine dealer.

2023.06.07 14:26 asilent_smile 24/F/India - Looking for penpals (and more if life takes us that way?!)

Hello you beautiful person,
I am kinda going through a phase where I seem disconnected from people and refrain from making new friends outside. Not that I'm a total introvert, but I certainly am a little reserved.
How about we exchange long emails to each other? We can be talking about the world around us, about our past lives, about our current endeavours and everything else. I am told to be a very patient listener, plus suoer trustworthy, all your stories are safe with me.
I know that developing a meaningful connection in itself is a task, but if allowed to form naturally giving it time and some nurturing, it can really be fruitful.
I want to be open with you, and I want you to be open with me. You can be sharing your dirty secrets and thoughts too, and I won't mind. You can certainly take a look at me if you wish to, but I'm not very old here, in Reddit but I loved this sub, and writing my first post here as of now.
So, come on, take a deep breath, write and send me the first envelop into my inbox, and let's begin a new journey? Write about your thoughts right now, what's going on in your life, about your passions and hobbies, and also you can write about me, what you feel of me, through this tiny bit of interaction, etc.
I'm someone who tries to find joy in little things of life. If you bring me some creamy coffee and a pack of chips, l'll be smiling the whole day, literally. I like to take evening walks into the Sunset, I like to watch time pass by, day by day, through me, within me, taking me with the flow.
Anyway! I'm not very good at writing posts I guess that talk about me, so try to understand what I mean to say, will you? In short, write me, like right now.
Thank you. Waiting for your lettemessage in my inbox, eagerly. Love you, regardless, and take care of yourself. You matter, a lot.
P.S. we can move to emails when you send me a message and as we proceed.

2023.06.07 14:26 BlueSquid2099 Rod of the Pact Keeper

So I’m DMing a campaign with a warlock of the great old one(Patron is Cthulhu), and I wanted to let them find a rod of the pact keeper at some point soon. It will probably be uncommon to start with but I’m thinking of ways that it could be powered up, perhaps with some dark ritual. I want to make it sound like a very dangerous, eldritch artefact, something that might have been sealed away, or kept by a dark cult, but I’m not sure what sort of description to go for. Any ideas on how to spice it up?

2023.06.07 14:25 bethskw [Meet Report] USAWA HackenDinnie Classic - Albany, KY, USA (690 lb total @ 155 bwt) - overall win & set several records

I beat the men again :) This was a super fun and well-run meet.
photo for cover

Background and training

I compete in USAWA, the US All-Round Weightlifting Association, best known for its many wacky odd lifts. This meet had just two official lifts, the Hackenschmidt Floor Press (a floor press done with the bar at 15" off the ground) and the Dinnie lift (weights in two stacks with ring handles, one heavier than the other, to mimic the famous Dinnie Stones of Scotland). After the competition was over, the organizer held a "record day" where lifters can pick anything they like from the rulebook and attempt to set or break records.
I've been competing in USAWA since 2019 and have been the undefeated women's champ at all the in-person meets I've done--although in many cases I was the only woman competing. Usually men and women are scored separately, but I asked ahead of time if the HackenDinnie organizer would be able to use a formula that combines men's and women's scores. Because, I told him, I'm competing to win. (He said yes.)

Meet prep

The first time I tried the floor press, I was only able to move 75 kilos (about 160 pounds). u/BenchPauper suggested using the Gillingham bench template to train it, which involved one day each week with a heavy single and backoff sets, and a second day with lighter lifts. After a few weeks I figured out the right grip width and bar placement and was able to hit 85 kilos (about 185 pounds). This remained my 1RM for the rest of training. I deviated from Gillingham in the last few weeks, but it was a solid structure to keep me in practice for most of my training time.
The Dinnie lift I've done before. Back in 2020 I got up to 503 pounds with straps. But in USAWA, no straps are allowed, nor even thumb tape. You just chalk up your hands and go for it. My best without straps had been 418 pounds.
When I trained the Dinnie lift, I kept getting little tweaks and aches and pains. One time I took two weeks off of Dinnie lifting because I was convinced I'd sprained my left ACL. (That's the ACL I tore and had reconstructed many years ago, so it kind of spooked me.) Later I had an issue with my hip. I was kinda bummed about all of this and didn't train this lift as heavy as I would have liked. Fortunately, by the time the meet rolled around everything was feeling better.
I had a total of 11 weeks between my last big weightlifting meet (Masters Nationals in olympic weightlifting) and the HackenDinnie. I did 3 days/week of normal weightlifting training, and 2 days where I practiced these two lifts and a few other lifts that I selected for the record portion. I pulled my last heavy Dinnie lift 8 days out, at about 440 pounds. My heaviest in the whole training cycle had been a hook grip PR at 470. On u/just-another-scrub's recommendation I bought a pair of Versa Gripps to get in more volume without worrying about my thumbs, but in the end my lower body injuries (or fear thereof) limited me more than my grip.

Meet day

I drove down to Kentucky for this one. The meet was held in Clint Poore's very nice garage gym and he put on an extremely well run meet. I refereed when I wasn't lifting.
The guys at the scoring table called me over to ask what my opener really was on the floor press--maybe it was my handwriting, or maybe they weren't expecting me to open at 180 pounds. Out of 11 people there, I was 4th to open on the floor press. And of 9 people who did the Dinnie lift, I was second-to-last to open. One lifter bumped up his own opener to match mine (430).

The lifts

Hackenschmidt floor press

(This lift is not eligible for world records in our international organization, IAWA.)

Dinnie lift

Had to wait a while to open this one. My hands began to slip on my last warmup at 400, so I made a note to chalk the heck up and to believe in the magic of the taper.
There are several women who have either lifted the real Dinnie stones or the Rogue replicas, at 734 pounds, so it's not a world best lift. But 510 is higher than any woman's Dinnie lift in our record books.
I also had the second-heaviest Dinnie lift (by raw poundage) of the 9 of us. The only person who lifted heavier than me was a highland games athlete who said he had planned to do 500/550/600 but bumped his attempts when he saw mine. He did 550, 650, and broke 700 off the ground but didn't get a complete lift. I pointed out that a 300+ kg lift is all you need to book an appointment to lift the actual Dinnie stones, so even though the competition was over at that point, everybody supported him to get his qualifying lift in. We loaded 671 pounds, weighed it out and documented the scale weight, and he pulled it to massive cheering.

Results

When age and bodyweight were taken into account, I had the 4th best total on points. Our international org, IAWA, uses a 1.33 multiplier for women when they combine men's and women's scores, so we did the same to determine the overall winner. That turned out to be me.
Honestly, I believe several of the men there were strong enough to beat me, but they weren't as familiar with the lifts and/or underestimated themselves when it came time to choose attempts. I, meanwhile, had been able to train on very similar equipment (I have Dinnie rings at home) and had a strong sense of what attempts would be strategic and doable for me. What can I say, I came to win!

Record portion

One of the first things the meet organizer showed me when I arrived that morning was a foot press he had just gotten. Sort of like a primitive leg press, but the idea is that you just need to break the weights off the supports (no need to fully lock out your legs). I almost couldn't reach the footplate, but with my heeled lifting shoes on I was able to participate.
The foot press had 350 pounds on it when I first gave it a try. I lifted that, and so did a bunch of other folks. Then four more plates got piled on, and we all did 530. Next up, a bunch of the guys did 580. When it was my turn, I said...well, why not 600? So that was my third. And I finished up with a 4th attempt at 700. Felt that one in my shin bones (ew), but no problem lifting it.
I also did a clean rack Sots press (James Lift is the USAWA name). 75, 80, and set a record and a small PR at 85 pounds.
I had planned to do a snatch, but there were no weightlifting bars in the place, and I forgot how weird it is to have a bar without your usual landmarks and to have so much knurling. I scraped up my legs enough on the Sots press that I scratched the idea of snatching with it.
Somewhere in there I took a first attempt at a normal bench press (IAWA/world lift but not USAWA lift). Did 150 pounds, then got distracted and never bothered to come back for more.
It was kind of chaotic, okay? At some point I stumbled across an axle loaded with 275 pounds. Pulled that for a beltless deadlift, because I didn't have my belt on when I impulsively grabbed it and told a ref to watch me. One attempt one record. Moving on.
Last one was an Apollon's Lift, which is just an axle press anyhow. I have not attempted to clean an axle in years and kind of forgot how. I no-contact power cleaned it and then did a split jerk at 115 pounds. Easy. So I went 135 next, couldn't remember how to clean it, managed to get it up to my shoulders continental style, then shit the bed on the jerk. I'm for sure good for more if I practice this someday. But the record book had a blank space on that, so 115 was good enough.

Aftermath

I'm working toward getting into the Century Club of people with 100 or more records. (We love our records in USAWA. The Century Club has many members, in part because you can keep setting different age group records as you get older.) I'm on track to make it this year.
Next meet is USAWA nationals in Missouri in three weeks, so once I recover I'll jump right back into training. I've actually taken two whole days off from training so far, which is weird for me. Stay tuned for the next meet, which includes a Steinborn squat and a hip lift, among other things.
I'm not always sore after meets, but mannn is my body feeling this one. Everything hurts, including some bruising on the back of my leg and a superficial skin tear on top of my thumb from hook gripping so hard. Still have never torn a callus on my palms or fingers. File those suckers down, kids.
PS. I'm lifting the real things someday. Only 224 pounds to go.
Happy to answer questions about joining us at USAWA meets. They're for everyone (my daughter even lifted at Nationals at 6 years old) and are always a blast.

2023.06.07 14:25 childrenofkorlis What happened with pulgoso, the dog from Marimar?

So I started to watch some old novelas and now I am rewatching "Marimar" , a novela I saw when I was a kid. The plot in kind of dumb but it's a fun watch but what catch me by surprise is how good actor the dog pulgoso. The dog is literally the best actor of the novela, so obedient and smart!
So this novela is 30y old already and I am thinking to watch more stuff with this dog, such a good actor he must had appearances in other novelas or movies.

2023.06.07 14:24 medievalistbooknerd Need Help With A Tough Decision

Hello, car nerds! I'm dealing with a dilemma between two cars and I need to know which one you think I should get.
A little background information about me. I'm 20F, and I REALLY love driving. Like, a lot. Driving is one of my favorite things to do, and I often do it to blow off steam, even though I probably shouldn't put wear and tear on my car...
I currently drive an absolute jalopy. It's a 2007 purple Ford Fusion. The thing is rusted out underneath and it's hanging together with duct tape. Even though it's not seriously busted on the inside (according to my mechanic team) the rust nevertheless makes weird noises when I drive that make me uncomfortable. I'm always under the impression that it's about to blow up with me in it. It's bad.
Needless to say, I need a new car, and I've been saving up a ton of money over the summer for down payment and working on my credit score for a loan to cover the rest. My budget is $20K for a used car, and I would like it to have less than 60K miles on it so that it will last me a good long time. I'll have to spend a about 4-6 years paying off that loan, so I want to have reliable transportation during that time.
I know that my parameters are very tight, but surprisingly I've found a handful of good cars within that price range. My biggest dilemma is between two options.
The first is a 2018 Mitsubishi from a used car dealership in Grand Rapids. It's about $16K and has about 40K miles on it. It's a compact car, and it's really ugly, but it is in good condition, gently used, and affordable. I don't particularly like this car, and it does not look fun to drive, but it the safest and most economical choice.
The other car is a 2010 yellow Chevy Camaro sold by the owner of a local pizzeria. He's a car snob and has a bunch of sports cars. The Camaro is a V6 and he wanted a V8, so he ended up buying a new V8 and is trying to get rid of this one. The car is $17K and only has 42K miles on it. It is in very good condition. Now, I LOVE muscle cars. A lot. As someone who loves driving, a Chevy Camaro is my dream car, and seeing one in such good condition going for only $17K seems almost too good to pass up. However, my one big concern is that the car is 13 years old. Even though it hasn't been driven much, I'm wondering whether the age of the car poses a risk. I certainly don't want to have to take the car back to the mechanics for repairs, especially considering muscle cars are more expensive to fix.
My choices boil down to this: 1. Take a really lame but very low-risk car. 2. Take the car of my dreams and splurge on the ultimate driving experience but take more risk on money and reliability.
To be honest, I don't know which one to go with. Getting the Mitsubishi would be wiser, but the Camaro would be an investment in enjoying my college years while I still can. As my stepmom told me, "You only live once." How many college students are able to find an affordable Chevy Camaro in good condition?

2023.06.07 14:23 bethskw [Meet Report] USAWA HackenDinnie Classic - Albany, KY, USA (690 lb total @ 155 bwt) - overall win & set several records

2023.06.07 14:22 PeculiarPangolinMan Mystique (Fox X-Men Movies) VS Black Widow (MCU)

Now that the X-Men are totally part of the MCU and both timelines are canon, how do you think the mutant's premier super spy would do against the MCU's? Who wins if Mystique from the Fox X-Men movies fights Black Widow from the MCU?
Both is at peak and has her normal gear.
  • Round 1: Fight between old timeline Mystique and Nat Black Widow.
  • Round 2: Fight between new timeline Mystique and Yelena Black Widow.
  • Round 3: Assassination contest. They start on opposite sides of the city and have to find and kill each other. Composite Mystique versus Nat.

2023.06.07 14:21 Rare_Parsley3160 My oldest child (NB22) is currently homeless and I have not invited them to move back home

They live about an hour away. Last week I visited them with plans to help them move into a new apartment. Once there, I found out that they hadn't actually talked to the new landlord (only the other existing tenants) and couldn't move in until they did so. Ended up that there was no way to reach the landlord so we put most of their belongings into storage. I believe they spent one, maybe two, nights in their old apartment before they were evicted. They've spent a few nights couch surfing with friends, and they've visited their local homeless shelter looking for a bed. Last night they called looking for help, but I didn't know what to tell them. They have not asked to move back home, and I have not offered.
The reasons behind that are complicated. They moved out of the house when they were 18 because we were not getting along as a family. They were messy, rude and fought with us continuously. Their little sister spent most of her time at the neighbors to avoid the fights, and we had to put her into therapy. (All of that ended when they moved out.) Looking back I know that they will say I kicked them out, but in my view point they were the one who walked out the door. I remember going out of my way to deliver some personal items to them about a week later and they wouldn't even say "thanks". Them moving out was probably a good thing for the rest of our household.
We continued to support them financially over the past few years. We paid for a semester of college which was a stupid thing to do. I'm not blaming them at all for that, I should've known better but at the time we were desperate to help them find some "structure" in their life. They used a car we owned and maintained until it fell apart. We provided them with money for security deposits for 3 to 4 different apartments over the years. And we helped them with rent money when they needed it.
We've also tried to support them emotionally as well within some limits. They've been home for short (2 to 3 day) visits at holidays. Unfortunately during at least one of those visits they went through things they were specifically told not to touch, and ended up taking an old skillet and some dresses. (They had been caught stealing several personal items from their mom when they lived at home.) They could've asked for those things, but by sneaking them out of the house it brought back all the old feelings of distrust.
They've had similar relationships with their roommates. Most places they have ended up renting a room in a house with strangers. (This last place was an exception in that they knew at least one of them in-person, and the other on-line.) Every roommate experience has ended up with fights, accusations of theft and declarations that the other people are terrible. It just makes me think of the expression that if everyone around you is an asshole, maybe you're the asshole. I saw how they were living when I helped them move out of their last place, and I would not want to live like that.
So, that's it. I can't invite them home because I'm concerned about the safety and stability of my family. I can't give them money because I've been doing that for years and it just never stops. We've tried to help them find housing resources but there just aren't any with how things are going. And if we try to help too much we're afraid that we'll be seen as the primary resource, and we just can't do that.

2023.06.07 14:21 Less_Echo_5867 As society delhi is failing miserably

Recently i have been reading all these news how a 16 year old girl was stabbed and before that how a girl was cut into pieces and how people are giving it all a religion perspective love jihad and not looking at the actual concern of girls safety in delhi it's not about Hindu Muslim it's about girls living in delhi and how you should make them feel safe ! Media has created a Islam phobia in people's mind and not looking at the actual scenario in delhi! Girls can't walk alone without getting stares or being catcalled here literally every girl phases harrasment on streets, metro and in working places even at cafes sometimes and not necessarily all are Muslim ovi it's about people in general in delhi they think coming up to a girl and start talking to her like she owes you something huh? As a delhi girl i don't feel safe here and i wish to move out as soon as possible! Stop glorifying this behaviour in delhi by saying it's delhi yrr no it's not okay change yourself first and then point on others! Delhi is a rape capital that's the reality face it! I feel anxious here to a point i feel why I'm born here or I'm a girl fear is literally living inside a girl in delhi and they have to be alert every time thinking what will happen! I don't feel proud of saying I'm from Delhi anymore!

2023.06.07 14:21 BotGivesBot Community Blackout Megathread

Hi Everyone,
We’d like to keep an open dialogue so everyone's informed about the upcoming Reddit Protest happening June 12-14. This Megathread is for people to discuss, ask questions, and share information about the protest.
Our sub will not be participating in the blackout/protest because it’s a support system and resource for so many autists who don’t have access to support elsewhere. It would be too disruptive to too many people to remove access to the sub when it’s relied on as part of daily living. We want our members to know we will still be online and available as usual.
We also want everyone to know we support those protesting and we will be shutting down other subs we moderate. Right now there are over 2000+ subs committed to participating in the protest, so some of the subs you rely on for information or personal interest may not be available June 12-14 or longer. Here is the most recent list of subs participating. Please plan ahead for the change in access to subs you rely on.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
If you’d like to protest as a user, here are some ways how:
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
What's going on that’s causing the protest?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
Additionally, these changes are not accessibility friendly and make it impossible for some visually impaired users to access the site. There are details on this here and here.
Here is a infographic on the changes and protest.
