2023.06.06 05:21 Unhappy-Network-2923 AITA for constantly wanting to hang out with my best friend?
I (23) and my BFF (22) have been best friends since 5th grade and have spent all of our high school years together and even go to the same college together. However, recently she has got a boyfriend who she is constantly around. This is her first boyfriend ever and she really likes him. Ive always HATED 3rd wheeling but i dealt with it since they like each other so much. They have been together for 6 months now and have not hugged and only have held hands twice. BFF does not like physical touch so it makes sense but all our friends constantly bring it up and pressure them to at least hug. They always pressure them to hang out everywhere, even when Im hanging out with BFF. And usually they do hang out everywhere. For example, BFF and I were supposed to get lunch and I went to the cafe we were supposed to meet up at and waited an hour. She doesn’t show up and she wont answer my calls so I go home. 4 hours later she calls me back and apologizes because she was hanging out with her boyfriend. I told her that i’m happy that she got a boyfriend but that doesn’t mean she should forget about our friendship. She understands and says she will put more of an effort. Then for my birthday we were supposed to go to a party together and hang out. Instead though she never shows up and never gives me a call. I go home and just cry for my birthday instead. The next day I get a call apologizing again, I just accepted her apology and hung up, not wanting to deal with it. I talked to her boyfriend about it but he just called me a cockblocker and that i’m hanging out with her too much anyway. So i talked to our friends and they said that BFF and boyfriend need to hang out more anyway and that i’m clingy when it comes to her. Im really just lost and confused because I feel as though I barely see her now anyway and I just want to hang out with my best friend at least once a month. So AITA?
Also I hope this made since because english isn’t my first language.

2023.06.06 03:29 slnrdm81 Mercedes Benz Certified GLE 350 tire replacement fault, customer satisfaction issues
On May 22nd, we purchased a used 2020 GLE 350 from MB , NH, which was certified by the dealer. Unfortunately, the car had scratches on the back and front, and two wheels were damaged, causing aesthetic issues. The sales representative assured us that the service and body shop would address the problems and fix everything as good as new. We signed the sales contract with the condition and received approval for our auto loan. However, since the sales representative was going on vacation for two weeks, and the car would be in the body shop to be fixed, we agreed to pick up the car two weeks after his return to have him as our point of contact. On June 5th, the representative called to say the car was ready for us to pick up.
When we arrived, we found nothing was done to repair the car. The staff tried to make us sign the documents, telling us we should not expect more from a used car. We were disappointed as the promises were not kept, we had yet to receive the vehicle, and it still had scratches and wheel damage. The sales manager said he could arrange for the car to go to the body shop to fix the scratches on the back. However, the wheel damage and front bumper scratches will not be covered. Upon inspection, we discovered that the front tires were new, the back tires were used, and they were of different brands, Pirelli and Continental. The most shocking thing was that they had replaced the right rear tire inside out! The sales manager agreed to fix everything and offered us new tires, painting the front bumper and back hatch scratch area, and fixing the wheels. The conversation was not pleasant, and we were pretty annoyed.
We accepted the dealer's offer, but we still have some concerns. As a parent, I am worried about the safety of my two children, who will be passengers in the car. Do you think the tire replacement issue is a safety concern that we should break the deal? We also need to figure out how long the vehicle was used with the faulty tire.
We plan to give them one more week for repairs. We will consider returning it if we aren't happy with the repairs. While we know that we can return the car within five days if we are unsatisfied, we are unsure how the NH state law applies for used cars since we have yet to receive the vehicle officially, and it is still in the dealer's possession.

2023.06.06 02:05 petloss-throwaway Dealing with guilt over loss of 3 year old pet rat
Hi all,
I lost my 3 year old pet rat last night while doing a very routine abscess draining and it has devastated me. I am trying my best to process my emotions and decided I would make an acct to post here. Reading past posts of similar experiences has helped somewhat with coming to terms but it still hurts and I can't stop with all of the what if's and bargaining.
For some background, I spent most of my college years interning at vet hospitals and shortly worked as a vet assistant after graduation. I am familiar with lancing abscesses and flushing etc. It was also in college where I began to keep pet rats (my first pair were from one of our labs, and they were very well loved by my entire family.)
My 3 year old pet rat who passed away last night was adopted back in 2020. For those who don't know, the average life span for a rat is usually 2 ~ 2.5 years, so he was already long lived. At age 3, he had a blind right eye, a chronic respiratory infection that he was on meds for, a mystery lump in his inner leg, a reoccurring groin abscess, hind leg degeneration, and overweight from his lack of mobility.
Despite all of his ailments in his old age, he was still rather spunky, had good appetite and even though he spent most of the day sleeping, he would still be alert and want attention late at night.
About 1 month ago, his reoccurring groin abscess had opened, and I had helped drain and flush the abscess. He had 4+ abscesses over the span of his life, all of which I had helped lance, drain, and flush. Each time his abscesses would heal wonderfully and even if he squirmed during the process, he would always lick my hand afterwards as I pet him and let him know he did so well.
Yesterday, I noticed that his groin abscess had returned again for the 5th time and it had opened, even if it was a small opening. I was on the fence about whether or not to drain it, maybe thinking I would wait another two days to see how it'd progress. At night, I decided that since I was going to change his cage anyway, I would just go ahead and help drain the abscess so that once his abscess was drained he could go rest in his nice clean cage for the rest of the night.
It was suppose to be like the other 4 times I've had to drain his abscess. He was supposed to live. Sure, he would squirm a little and maybe squeak a bit from it because it's not fun, but we were going to get the pus all out and flushed clean and he was going to be all abscess free and clean and rest in his nice clean cage, and we'd wake up tomorrow to each other's bright faces. This was his fifth abscess, it was going to be fine. It was about dime sized, smaller than the previous ones he's had in his life.
This time, I also finally had my dad home to help me with holding my pet rat for the abscess draining. This was going to be a lot easier than last time when I had to do it all alone.
My pet rat had just gotten done with his prep soak. He wasn't happy but I got him quickly dried off and everything was set and ready. Things were going the way they did normally before. My dad was restraining him fine, I didn't think it was too tight of a hold at all.
We had a hiccup where the entry wound to the abscess had healed up just from the span of morning to night, and I wasn't sure if we should continue, but the skin next to the entry wound was showing signs that it was ready to open, so I figured we'd be fine lancing.
He squirmed a bit erratically and we gave him a quick break as we went to get a lancet. I remember just petting his face and telling him how good of a boy he was... he was snuggled into my hands.... I look back at this as one of my "what if" moments.... He seems calm enough again, so my dad holds him again and we try to lance, but he is not having any of it, so we decide we will just stop and wait for the abscess to open again on it's own. I'm quickly disinfecting the area again and drying him off, he is kicking a little, but we have him unrestrained and I'm petting him and telling him he is so sweet and such a good boy and did so well.
As I'm petting him I suddenly see it. I see the light fading from his eyes and it hits me. His body is limp and he's now taking his last breathes in my hands as I was praising him and petting him. I start calling his name but he's gone. We try CPR.
I am in complete shock. He wasn't supposed to die. He was so strong for his age. How could he die? This can't be. The whole thing wasn't even 5 minutes. And I feel the overwhelming devastation and guilt.
What if I had just left the abscess alone? What if I had just decided to call it off at the break we gave him? What if I didn't have my dad helping me, like maybe he wouldn't have squirmed as much if it was just me?
I have been non stop crying the past 24+ hours. I did not get any sleep last night.
My boyfriend is an ICU nurse and he has been trying to console me. He told me older patients pass away all the time from bearing down too hard. Something about the movement causes older frail hearts to go waghhhh!!! and fail. He told me how could I have known? If we had known, we would have never tried to lance. Our pet rat was also so old with so many other comorbidities... his hind leg mobility definitely reduced some parts of his QOL (he wasn't able to groom himself as well, I had to help him groom, and he had trouble with a few things but was still happy and interested in food), he was already at the age where we didn't know if he'd be with us the next morning.
But it still sucks. It still hurts. I still feel so guilty. That wasn't the way I wished for him to pass. I didn't want him to pass from a heart attack while we were trying to drain his abscess. I wanted him to pass all snuggled up in his favourite box, next to his favourite wheel.
I looked at other pet rat forums for anything similar and found another devastated rat parent who had lost their pet rat when the vets were trying to aspirate the abscess. Their elderly pet rat couldn't handle the stress and passed at the vets, they also didn't even get to lance it.
I looked at the vettech subreddit for how others have handled guilt when losing a patient, and I saw comments from people who had similar situations happen. They're treating their own pet the same that they'd treat any patient for something routine, and bam... next minute their own pet is gone. Also so many other comments of vet techs losing elderly patients just from restraining or just the stress.
I keep trying to tell myself the positives, that it was good that he had passed at home with people he knew and loved. I know when he was squirming it wasn't because he was squirming out of fear towards us. He NEVER EVER attempted to bite my dad or I. He was only squirming because the procedure is just uncomfortable. If he was at the vets, he'd be so scared and screaming just from being handled by strangers. He was too old to be sedated and at least from my experience we have never sedated for abscess lancing + draining + flushing when I was working in a clinic...
I keep trying to butterfly effect the whole situation.... but my friend told me that who knows what other thing might have possibly caused him to die?
Like what if we had successfully gotten the pus out? He could have still passed away after draining and flushing... He could have easily had an heart attack while we were removing the pus...
I'm just.... I don't know.... I want forgiveness from him. I want him to understand and know that we never were trying to harm him out of ill will or evil. I was only doing what I thought was right at the moment. We were only trying to help him. We only even attempted because we thought he was strong and healthy enough to take it. If we had known his little heart was going to give up, I would have never tried. I would have just treated it like his inner leg mystery lump...just left it alone.
I didn't expect to be without him today. I expected to see his cute face peeking at me through his cage bars, begging for pets today.
I don't know who I want forgiveness from anymore. Maybe I want forgiveness from myself. I feel so bad. I feel like maybe I'm just trying to make excuses for myself.
At least we have new house rules when it comes to 3 year old pet rats now:
- All ailments are to be monitored / palliative care.
- Any squirming while being handled, the rat will be released ASAP
- If QOL is deteriorating, then only intervention is vet visit for a euth.
- Any abscesses will be monitored and err on the side of waiting to see how it progresses longer. If abscess pops with a reasonable sized opening, then I can gently aid in draining and flushing.
I'm thinking about my other almost 3 year old rat a few years ago... he had a huge cyst on his hind quarters that had opened... I remember helping clean out the cyst for him... he squirmed and cried a bit because it just hurts / isn't fun...but he didn't heart attack and die on me while I was helping him... he passed away a week later after his cyst wound had healed up nicely.... it was at least easier to understand that he had passed away from old age and that I hadn't directly caused it because the cyst had already been extruded and the wound cleaned...
I hope I can at least sleep a few hours tonight.
Looking at his photos makes me cry so hard. He really lived such a long life!!! He had a lot of ups and downs in his life. He lost his littermate at 1.5 years, was a solo rat for a year, was introduced to some baby rats and seemed to be well integrated for 3 months until the babies became hormonal teenagers... he lost vision in his right eye from one of the babies and he was then put into his own solo cage for his own safety since the babies couldn't play nice anymore. He had hind leg degeneration that got pretty bad about 1.5 months ago, he was actually a little depressed a day or two from his lack of mobility but perked up again after he had time to get used to it.
He was a very shy rat when he was young. I felt like he was definitely more of a rat rat instead of a people rat if that makes sense, so I was so worried when his littermate passed. But he quickly became a people rat and he loved me so much, loved snuggles, loved it when my dad would play with him. He absolutely loved my boyfriend. He got to see my boyfriend the day before yesterday... he was so happy, came rushing out to greet him. He was a great shoulder rat and absolutely LOVED his wheel... he unfortunately lost the ability to shoulder ride and wheel run as his hind leg degeneration progressed...
He wasn't supposed to die last night. He was supposed to spend another month or two with me... he was supposed to pass away in his sleep after a day full of naps, food, and love. I feel like I took all of that away from him, from us. I'm trying to reconcile with the two parts of me right now. The rational part that is understanding what others are telling me and the emotional part of me that just is still so devastated. I miss him so dearly.
If anyone managed to read the whole thing, thank you for your time.

2023.06.06 00:55 Reaper2256 Can the pitch wheel on a 2023 Model D reissue be adjusted?
Basically what the title says. I want to know if I can make my pitch wheel shift the pitch by an entire octave rather than just a 5th or whatever it is by default. The manual doesn’t seem to have any answers about this so I’m assuming that means no, but I thought I’d check here to see if I’m missing something or not. Thanks!

2023.06.06 00:21 B__K Do you check your 5th wheel every time you get back in your truck?
I’ve seen too many truckers messed with. I do a quick check every time I get back in the truck. After fueling, load checks, etc. Call me paranoid (I am) but I haven’t dropped a trailer.

2023.06.05 22:36 john44465 Drilled Sacks. A succession fortress without a successor.
(a couple people wanted to know how my succession game went. Good news, I got many great players. Bad news, they never got to play. Real fortress stuff begins at the 15th of Granite, everything before that is just backstory.)
Diary of A_Demon Ducimlelum and records of Drilledsacks.
9th of Granite. Year 50.
I have come to discover that drinking at the same tavern as our nation’s rulers wasn’t the wise idea I thought it was. I thought it would be an easy way to rub shoulders with potential investors while getting some drinks in my gut. Oh if I had only known what it would lead me to.
So there I was, tossing back plump helmet wine as if Zolak was coming for my soul and I, in my drunken wisdom, decided to rant about the Murky Volcano.
You see, in my efforts to become a better trader I decided to take a beginners course on gem cutting. My thought was I could buy rough gems, cut them myself and sell the cut gems for a huge profit. Anyways the teacher told us about how diamonds are formed deep underground and pushed closer to the surface by volcanic pressure so while I was in the tavern I ranted to anyone who would listen.
“Why are we digging for gems when the Murky Volcano is willing to do it for free! All those gems must just be sitting there like mushrooms in the dirt! Whoever's in charge around here has no idea what they’re doing!”
Then I fall off my bar stool and who do I see staring down at me? That’s right, it's Mafol Letmosmuzish himself! The king graciously helps me to my feet and says. “That’s very interesting. Perhaps an aspiring young merchant should build a fortress there since digging into a volcano is so easy.”
I would have said something like “I was just joking!” or “Please your, highness I don’t want to die!”, but I puked up my wine before I could say anything.
“Thank you for volunteering Miss Ducimlelum. I’ll send you the paperwork in the morning.” He said with a shit eating grin and walked right out the door. I feel like The Bloated just took a crap on my life.
10th of granite. Year 50.
I put out some help wanted fliers in the morning and I was surprised to have a full team by the afternoon. Of course it’s just my luck they’re all shallow dwelling sky gazers! The first dwarf who came in for an interview was eating a salad like some kind of elf. Her name is Cukes and apparently she’s a skilled miner. I’ll believe that when I see it.
The second dwarf to sign up was Dr Dave. “What’s your doctorate in?” I asked her. She never gave me a straight answer, but she’s a brewer, a planter and she can cut down trees with enough skill to make an elf cry, which is to say any skill at all.
Third was a dwarf named Clown Commune. I don’t want to know what she did to get a nickname like that. She’s a skilled engraver and I’ve seen some of her work around the mountain, at least that’s what I’ve been told.
The forth dwarf comes in with a crossbow in one hand and a wild boar carcass slung over his shoulder. He throws the damn thing down on the table and says these are the skills he brings to the team. Welcome aboard Salty.
Dwarf number five comes in with a beard so long it’s almost touching the floor. Thank the gods he keeps it neatly combed. He tells me his name is Cthulhu. He’s competent in three different crafting arts and he’s learning to smith weapons. Apparently a magma forge is just what he needs.
The final dwarf was impatient but I could hardly blame her after sitting in the waiting room for so long. Luckily she brought along a book to read. I wonder what a scholar is hoping to find in a volcano, but apparently she also has some medical dwarf training so that’s reason enough to bring her with us. That and the seven dwarf minimum for expeditions. Welcome to the team River Of Arrows.
11th of Granite. Year 50.
This was the day I took my life savings and spent them all on fucking fortress suplies. I got the essentials like food, seeds and an anvil. With the leftover money I bought some animals for the fortress.
They didn’t have any tasty chinchillas so I got chickens instead. They’ll be good for food and their leather is one of my favourites. I dearly wanted some water buffaloes, I like them for their wallowing, but there wouldn’t be much water at the Murky Volcano so I made the hard decision to only get one water buffalo for myself and two camels to pull the wagon. The camels were on sale.
12th of Granite. Year 50.
When I got to the wagon depot one of my new travelling companions shouted, “Hey, it’s A_Demon!”
Instantly there was a mass panic in the depot. “It’s pronounced Ay-deo-mun!” I shouted over the crowd. Then I saw the fortress guard coming down the stairs. Were they coming to fight the alleged demon? Calm down the riot? Throw us in jail for starting a riot? We didn’t stick around to find out. Everyone on the wagon, we’re getting the hell out of Hailflags!
13th of Granite. Year 50.
We’re now in the monstrous hills. I asked over and over again if there was another way, but the only other path would take us all around the Embraced Cresta, which is basically a trek across the entire Continent Of Kin.
Gods above, this place gives me the creeps. It’s chilling to think that the dwarven tower of Grouppaddle is out there somewhere.
The worst part about traveling through the Monstrous Hills is the zombies. They’re not fast enough to catch up with our wagon, but they’re damn creepy. Salty had half a mind to practise his archery on the horrors as we passed, but he decided to save his ammo.
To pass the time and keep my mind off the horrors outside I’ve been counting inventory. Why do we have thirdy shoes? The merchant told me this was standard embark supplies but why would we need thirdy shoes? Whatever.
In addition to the animals I bought, River Of Arrows brought her cat. I told her feeding it was her responsibility, but she promised the cat could feed itself by hunting rats. I’ll begrudgingly admit her cat might be useful.
I think Clown Commune may have been the one who brought the breeding pair of untrained dogs. Apparently getting untrained dogs was a cost saving measure, it’s cheaper if we train the dogs ourselves. A dwarf after my own heart. Maybe these dwarves aren’t so bad after all.
14th of Granite. Year 50.
I took a break from driving the wagon last night and let Dr Dave take the rains until morning. It was still dark out when I woke up to the sound of whistling in the style of The Beige Embrace. “Dr Dave, you know The Beige Embrace musical form?”
“Yeah, one of the two musical forms I know. The other is The Saffron Lutes.”
“Really, what’s that one sound like?”
“A little something like this.” She then performed a piece for us. After the first couple verses the wagon joined in. None of us knew the first thing about singing but we were having fun. At that moment everything felt like it was going to be ok. That should have tipped me off that something was about to go wrong.
The wagon suddenly lurched. We stepped outside and saw the damn thing was stuck in the mud. A minor annoyance to dwarves not trapped in a zombie filled waste land, if only we could be so lucky. The shambling corpses drew in.
Salty shot a few bolts in them to little effect. Me and Clown Commune tried to push the wagon. Somehow one of those undead beasts snuck up on me but River Of Arrows bashed it in the face with her book sending brain splattered pages everywhere. “Damn, I guess I’ll never find out how it ends.” She dropped the broken book and helped me push.
Salty ran out of bolts so he beat the nearest zombie to death with his crossbow. Dr Dave, Cukes and Cuthulhu picked up sticks and joined Salty in the melee.
While they fought off the undead the rest of us pushed the wagon out of the mud. The animals bolted. Me, Clown Commune and River Of Arrows jumped on. The rest chased after us. Salty had to leave his crossbow behind since it was stuck in a zombie’s chest.
I reached out my hand and pulled Cthulhu onto the wagon. Clown Commune helped Dr Dave. River Of Arrows got Cukes and Salty was able to pull himself up. We just laid there for a while, trying to catch our breaths. I think I fainted after that.
15th of Granite. Year 50.
That morning must have been the worst awakening I’ve had since the drinking contest in Bodystockade. It felt pleasantly warm at first then I opened my eyes. Zolak’s fucking eye, I was half a foot away from a lake of lava! I jumped up screaming. If I had rolled over in my sleep I’d have been burned alive!
Welcome to the fucking Murky Valcano! The animals must have pulled us up here while we were passed out. Thank any god you please that the wagon wheel broke off before we went over the ledge.
My first order as expedition leader, let’s move over there.
16th of Granite. Year 50.
Once the initial shock and horror wore off we couldn’t help but laugh at our situation. I guess it’s just gallows humour. As we unloaded our supplies I realised that I’ve come to consider these dwarves my friends. When I first met these bearded bastards I never thought I’d end up saying that. It’s funny what a near death experience or two can do.
Here’s to us. There’s no other dwarves I’d rather be stranded on a volcano with. A new chapter of dwarven history begins here, at this place, Monangfath, “Drilledsacks”. Strike the earth!
Seriously we need to dig a burrow, I’ve heard there’s leopards around here and they might be hungry.
1st of Slate. Year 50.
We’re making a wooden crossbow and some bolts to replace the crossbow that was lost in the Monstrous Hills. Hopefully Salty can hunt some of those kangaroos for us to eat. The wooden bolts aren’t very effective but they’re all we got right now.
28th of Slate. Year 50.
We’ve struck obsidian. This’ll be good for swords and traps involving swords. Metal is better of course but unfortunately we haven’t been able to find any. Also I have designated myself as the broker. I’ve been training to be a merchant for some time now, no reason to throw all the training away just because we’re stranded on a volcano.
Also we’re digging out some 4x4 rooms for ourselves. Might as well make something nice for ourselves.
24th of Hematite. Year 50.
Our first wave of migrants have arrived. They brought with them a steel axe and a breeding pair of turkeys. The birds are still poults but they’ll grow fast I’m sure. Now we’re up to 10 working dwarves and a child.
12th of Malachite. Year 50.
River Of Arrows has been feeling ecstatic lately but Salty is feeling a little bit down. I think it’s the stress of hunting. I’ll assign him some other duties and see if that helps.
6th of Galena.Year 50.
We’ve found some colourful rocks like microcline and quartzite. They’ll be good for decorating the place. Also there’s a cherry tree right at the peak of the volcano. It’s kind of pretty. That would be a great place to dump our garbage. Right off the edge and into the volcano.
17th of Galena. Year 50.
We have discovered an expansive cavern deep underground. I saw a gorlak down there. He seemed friendly but I sealed off the cavern just in case. I think I might build a tavern down there so adventurers can go straight from drinking to fighting monsters.
1st of Limestone. Year 50.
THE DEAD WALK HIDE WHILE YOU STILL CAN! It’s not even winter yet and we’re getting attacked by undead! I ordered everyone underground and built a quick wall to keep them out.
4th of Limestone. Year 50.
We couldn’t get the walls in time up but we managed to lock the doors. Hopefully that’s enough. While I was doing a headcount I found Kol Kekimzaneg the child was missing. He was last seen playing on the side of the hill, he must still be out there. His mom, Rigoth Zuglarunal, wants us to go out there and get him, but if I open those doors we’re all doomed.
Ganadalmosh, give me strength. I knew being an expedition leader would be hard but… fuck…
5th of Limestone. Year 50.
Day one of the siege. We have enough food and drink to last us a while, but the undead don’t need to eat… I’m sure they’ve killed most if not all of our livestock by now and we can only pray that Kol found a place to hide.
I’ve ordered some engravings to be made on the wall and designated this room as a tavern to keep up morale. It was originally intended to be our tavern until we could make a better one lower in the earth.
6th of Limestone. Year 50.
Clown Commune has made her first engraving. It’s a well-designed image of The Interpretation Of The Movement Of Animals, the white opal-bound codex by Zutthan Alathazin.
28th of Limestone. Year 50.
I decided to do some mining while we’re under siege. Might as well use this time to work on that grand tavern idea. I wonder if any adventurers are out there fighting the undead.
(interlude by Mothec Mukudon, the human archer) After three days of travel through The Foelds Of Silkiness and the beautiful elven Forest of Wires I have arrived at the Murky Valcano. What new wonders await me in the Drilledsacks? What marvels of craftsmanship have the dwarfs created in this majestic volcano? Could it perhaps be… Sweet fucking fields! What the hell is that! Oh god it took my ear off! What the fuck!
Mothec Mukudon was struck down by Acikolis, the hammer-dwarf corpse.
3rd of Timber. Year 50.
Those chicken eggs should be hatching by now. Imagine the sweet fluffy little birds coming out of their shells for the first time, peeping for the mamma only to be met by the hammer of an undead horror with a burning hatred for all life.
26th of Timber. Year 50.
I’ve opened up the cavern so we can start a small mushroom farm. We’ll stay down here until the zombies turn to dust if we have to, but damn, the rats down here are big.
10th of Moonstone. Year 50.
These hairy naked human looking things came into the new tavern mid construction and just started hanging around. Apparently they’re called troglodytes. One of them killed our female war dog.
That’s it, get the swords ready for a trog hunt.
22nd Opal. Year 50.
Ever since the troglodyte incident we’ve been preparing for another fight. We’ve got obsidian swords and tower-cap wood shields. I and the other miner will be using our picks and Salty of course has his crossbow. If it comes down to it we may need to fight our way out of the fortress.
1st of Granite. Year 51.
Happy new year. Living completely underground hasn’t been so bad. Sure we may never see the sun again but… Well we’ve got a pretty nice tavern.
19th of Granite. Year 51.
One of my fellow dwarves had the bright idea of setting up some traps for the undead. We’ve got plenty of rocks we can drop on them and we can build a narrow hallway in the old tavern. I’ll get a mechanics workshop up and running.
26th of Granite. Year 51.
The troglodytes came into the tavern again but this time we were ready for them. We ripped through them with the greatest of easy. Cutting them down where they stood. Welcome to The Mechanical Onion, mother fucker!
Of course I’m aware this was just a minor victory. The undead will be far harder to defeat since they wear armour and they don’t bleed. I keep this revelation to myself of course, it’s been too long since these dwarves had a reason to celebrate and they needed this victory.
20th of Hematite. Year 51.
The dwarves seem very reluctant to arm the traps. Maybe they want to delay the fight as long as possible. Sadly we can’t delay much longer, we’re running out of food and drink. I’ve designated a fishing area in the caverns. It’s not the safest way to get food but there’s little choice in the matter. And the troglodytes continue to be an annoyance.
2nd of Malachite. Year 51.
Dwarves are getting restless due to a lack of prayer. I’ve designated a hallway as a general temple called The Mess Of Growth. Let’s hope those gods hear our prayers.
6th Malachite. Year 51.
I’ve converted my room into a makeshift hospital called The Helmed Home.
15th of Malachite. Year 51.
We’ve run out of drinks and we’re now reduced to drinking muddy cavern water. Still no one wants to arm the traps. I may have to unlock the door without them.
4th of Galena. Year 51.
There’s no food or drink left. This is the day we fight. Today Drilledsacks will either stand or fall. We stand guard at the end of an unarmed trap hallway. We hear something coming. A random human poet comes screaming out of the hallway. And then another random human poet. Then another poet, a dwarf this time.
8th of Galena. Year 51.
Ok, I guess we’ll have to meet them outside.
(Everyone was killed in battle. It wasn’t even close. Dr Dave didn’t come to the battle since he was in the hospital where he died of dehydration.)

2023.06.05 17:07 nicoletaylor94 Help
Hi,
Last year my husband and I bought a brand new 2022 Keystone Fuzion 5th wheel model 430. When it was delivered to us it was in horrible condition. The dealership (Meyers RV) would not fix it properly so we reached out to the manufacturer (Keystone Fuzion) and now they are not doing anything to get this resolved and fixed properly. We were only able to use our camper 2 times and it has now been sitting in our driveway for over a year. We have had 2 inspectors come to our house and Inspect our unit in which they said has major damage and is unusable. Trying to see if anyone has had similar issues?

2023.06.05 16:43 CANZUK10 The weirdest part of England...
| Perhaps it's the common language, or the often monotonal characterisation of the English in American media that leads to many Americans (and other parts of the English speaking world) to view the English as the bland neighbours of the much more culturally rich Welsh, Scottish or Irish. The reality is that England is chock full of bizarre traditions and local customs that often seem perplexing even in adjacent counties. One of the regions with the most character is the Southwest, and in this post I'll rank the top five weirdest aspects of this unique culture. I hope you find this interesting and maybe to not be so disappointed in your English score (especially if they get the Devon & Cornwall community). The Southwest is a peninsula south of Wales and juts out into the Celtic Sea, it includes Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Bristol 1: The Accent! (Westcountry 'yap') As with many parts of the UK, accent can vary massively even within relatively short distances. The Southwest is particularly rural even within the UK and has developed a very distinctive 'yap'. To the English local it's inextricably linked to farming and cider, but to Americans there might something oddly familiar about it. Linguists believe that the west country yap is actually the basis for the southern accent, the so-called southern drawl. During the colonization period, many English settlers in the southern states, such as Virginia and the Carolinas, came from the West Country region of England. See if you can spot the resemblance, or if you can understand it at all! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjTIFkWJctY&t=74s&ab_channel=MrTrotty57 2: Cheese rolling Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling is an annual event held near Gloucester in which participants chase a round of Double Gloucester cheese down a steep hill. The first person to reach the bottom is declared the winner, although most participants end up tumbling and rolling down the hill in pursuit of the cheese (often achieving catastrophic injury in the process!) The exact origin of the event is hard to pin point, although it's believed to be at least 600 years old. Two competing theories is that it helped to determine grazing rights or a more ancient pagan origin associated with celebrating the birth of the new year after winter. Whatever the origin of this bonkers tradition, people still flock to event every year to risk breaking their limbs for a wheel of cheese! (Have a look to see just how steep it is). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bx9I9n41La8&ab_channel=SteveKnibbs-BBCPointsWest-Gloucestershire 3: Padstow May Day celebration Also known as Obby Oss Day, is a unique and lively event that takes place annually on May 1st in the coastal town of Padstow, Cornwall, in southwest England. During the Padstow May Day event, the town comes alive with vibrant colours, music, dancing, and revelry. The highlight of the celebration is the famous "Obby Oss" (Hobby Horse), a central figure in the festivities. There are two Obby Oss characters in Padstow: the "Old 'Oss" and the "Blue Ribbon 'Oss." Each has its own group of followers and dancers. It has been speculated that such festivals have pre-Christian origins, such as in the Celtic festival of Beltane in the Celtic Nations, and the Germanic celebrations during the Þrimilci-mōnaþ (literally Three-Milking Month or Month of Three Milkings) in England. The celebration is completely chaotic and noisy, but loads of fun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laoz8B14A_8&ab_channel=SteveBettridge 4: Wassailing Wassailing is an ancient tradition that is primarily associated with the apple-growing regions of England, including the southwest. It is typically celebrated during the winter months, particularly on Twelfth Night (January 5th) or on Old Twelfth Night (January 17th) in some regions. The term "wassail" originates from the Old English phrase " waes hael," which means "be well" or "good health." Wassailing was a way to celebrate and bless the apple orchards, and scare away evil spirits to ensure a bountiful harvest for the next year. The core of the wassailing ceremony involves a group of people gathering in an orchard or around a particular apple tree. They sing traditional wassailing songs and perform rituals to awaken the trees and ward off evil spirits. This is often accompanied by the drinking of a spiced or mulled cider, known as "wassail." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izTh_ltnc7k&ab_channel=BritishPath%C3%A9 5: Cornish Language This map shows how the tradition of the Cornish language slowly retreated Westward Few people even within England know of England's last linguistic remnant of its Celtic past: Cornish or Kernewek. Though it's spoken today it small numbers thanks to some revival efforts, it's unfortunately not had a continuous tradition, having gone extinct as recently as the late 18th century. It's a sister language to Breton or Welsh, having been part of the wider Brythonic language group that would have been spoken through all of mainland Britain for thousands of years before gradually being replaced by the Germanic old English of the Anglo-Saxons beginning in the dark ages. A number of factors contributed to it's decline in more recent centuries however, such as migration during the industrial era and a weaker written tradition. Here's a video of a Cornish speaker, I'd love to know if any Breton or Welsh speakers can understand it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UaAyI-uI30&ab_channel=Wikitongues Thanks for reading! I hope you found it interesting! submitted by CANZUK10 to AncestryDNA [link] [comments] |

2023.06.05 14:00 dreftzg [Daily News] This Frederique Constant Is THE Rolex Oyster Alternative At 1/5th The Price, Porsche Design Celebrates First Porsche, Norqain Is Summer Ready With Ice Blue Dial And A Miffy The Rabbit Watch Is Perfect
It's Monday and there's not much going on today. But still... here it is. I'll take a brief moment and say thanks to everyone here that subscribed to the newsletter. That thing blew up and in three months got to numbers I would be happy with after two years. I hope you enjoy these updates, even on days that are slow like this one.
Also, I have a new giveaway with the newsletter - a Hamilton Khaki Field - so check it out if you're so inclined.
What's new
1/ Frederique Constant’s New Highlife Automatic Is An Interesting Rolex Oyster 36 Alternative At 1/5th Of The Price Ask on a forum what would be a great alternative if you weren’t ready to spend about $10.000 on the really nice and colorful Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36, and the two most likely answers you will get are the Tissot Gentleman (which lacks the range of colors) and the
Casio Citizen Tsuyosa (which is all about color). And these are two mighty fine watches. But they are also sub $500 (depending on where you shop). And it’s very clear that they are not luxury watches. Now, if you want a great alternative to the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36 that is trying to make a break towards the luxury watch market, take a look at the new Frederique Constant Highlife Automatic. Not only are they introducing a bunch of great colors, they also have a very interesting dial. And they’re almost 1/5th of the price of the Oyster Perpetual.
Frederique Constant might be a watch that’s not on your radar every day, but they offer great value for money, entry level luxury - especially in the Highlife Automatic - with some pieces that can get up there in price. Their entry into the same realm as the Oyster Perpetual comes up a bit short, at 34mm, but with the trend of customers wanting smaller and more vintage-looking watches, this is a great option. Most of the case is brushed, with polished links on the integrated bracelet. The watch also comes with a white rubber strap.
Where the watch majorly differs from any competition would be the dial. It comes in ice blue, champagne gold, and blossom pink, with a subtle pattern which looks like the grid around a globe. This is a pattern found on many FCs. Inside the watch is the FC-303, based on the Sellita SW200.
The Frederique Constant Highlife Automatic watches in the new colours are unlimited and available now, priced at $1,895.
2/ The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 Celebrates 75 Years Of Porsche’s First Car 75 years ago, Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche built one of the most influential cars to ever exist - the Porsche 356 Roadster. Not only did that car change the car world by itself, it also set the groundwork for one of the greatest sports car brands in the world. 24 years later, Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche (yeah, they weren’t all that creative with their names, Ferry’s dad who constructed the Beetle was also named Ferdinand) created a company called Porsche Design, a production design studio that will take the Porsche ethos and apply it to stuff that isn’t cars. One of the things Porsche Design perfected is watches, and to celebrate the anniversary of the 356, Porsche Design is releasing a new version of their Chronograph 1 – the 75 Years of Porsche Edition
The original Porsche Design Chronograph 1, manufactured by Orfina, wasn’t just popular because of its looks, but also because of its technological advancement. It was the watch that pioneered the use of PVD treatments on watch cases, making a fully black watch. It also appeared on the wrist of Tom Cruise in Top Gun. The new model isn’t a replica of the old one, but look at them side by side and you see a clear evolution.
The Chronograph 1 – the 75 Years of Porsche Edition is made out of titanium, 40mm wide, once again gets a matte black finish and paired to a textile leather strap with light-blue decorative stitching and a central red stripe or the included black leather strap with matching black stitching. The anti-reflective, matte-black dial was inspired by the dashboard in the cockpit of the Porsche 911, but the case has been updated to titanium instead of the original stainless steel used in 1972
Interestingly, the old Chronograph 1 was powered by the Valjoux 7750, and the new one has the WERK 01.140 which is, in essence, a modernised version of that movement. Very modernised, very upgraded. It has a flyback chronograph functionality, black-coated decoration and COSC certification that ensures accuracy within +6/-4 seconds per day. Also, the automatic winding rotor has taken the shape of the legendary Fuchs wheel with a Porsche crest
The watch is limited, frustratingly to 475 pieces. Yes, I get you would like to sell more watches, but 475 doesn’t mean anything. 75 means something. 356 means something. Anyways, sale starts June 8 and it’s priced at $11,000.
3/ Chopard L.U.C. Full Strike Gets An Update In Full Blue Sapphire The Chopard L.U.C Full Strike is an award winning watch, and it’s no wonder why. Introduced in 2016, it was the brand’s first minute repeater and just look at it. It’s a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, exhibiting exceptional construction and decoration. Now, Chopard is releasing a new version of the watch - this time in a blue sapphire case. So, if you ever wanted to get the Hublot Big Bang Integrated Tourbillon Full Blue Sapphire, but wanted an actually fantastic watch, here it is!
To use the biggest cliche of them all - this is not a revolution, it is an evolution. But it really is an evolution, as it is a color update to last year’s Full Strike Sapphire, with the 42.5 mm case, and crown with its integrated minute repeater pusher made of sapphire. It still has the same insane sapphire crystal gongs, machined from a single sapphire block.
The dial is made of sapphire, too, with the movement in full view. For easy reading, the railway-type minutes track was engraved and painted on the crystal, and eight rhodium-plated, shaped hour markers, positioned from 12 to 7 o’clock, were applied to make the chapter ring.
The L.U.C 08.01-L hand-wound movement is COSC certified and bears the Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark. It comprises 533 parts, beats to the frequency of 28,800vph and has a power reserve of 60 hours.
Unlike the Hublot, which comes on a full sapphire bracelet which many watchmakers have called an impossible dirt trap, the Chopard L.U.C Full Strike Blue Sapphire is offered on a blue alligator leather strap and it’s limited to just five pieces. The price is on request, but last year’s clear sapphire version was rumoured to cost $450.000
4/ The Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm Ice Blue Limited Edition Is A Summer Ready Baby Blue Watch Norqain is only five years old and yet, it currently has more than 50 different watches in their lineup. Started by Ben Küffer who brought over a bunch of people from Breitling, where he worked, one of their early successes was the Freedom 60 Chrono, housed in a 43mm case. People loved the watch, but they loved the 40mm version launched last year even more. Norqain is now releasing a limited edition of the 40mm chronograph with an ice blue dial.
It’s the same old watch as it was last year - 40mm in diameter and 14.9mm thick, with a box-type AR sapphire crystal and 100-metre water resistance rating. There are three strap options and Norqain is proud that they are all animal cruelty-free - a stainless steel bracelet, a black Perlon rubber strap and a linen Nortide strap made of recycled plastic recovered from the ocean.
The dial has a tri-compax layout and gets a new color palette with a sunray brushed ice blue dial, with black subdials and silver applied indices. There’s a colour-matching angled date at the unfortunate position between 4 and 5 o’clock. Inside the watch is Norqain’s calibre NN19, based on the Sellita SW510, a cam-operated chronograph with 27 jewels, 28,800vph (4Hz) and a power reserve of 62 hours. This is an update last year’s 40mm model, which had an ETA based movement.
The Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm Ice Blue Limited Edition is limited to 300 pieces and retails for CHF 4,250 with the steel bracelet, CHF 4,150 with the rubber strap and CHF 3,990 with the Nortide strap.
5/ Revolution’s Latest Collaboration With De Rijke & Co. Gives Us A Whimsical Miffy Watch With A Sapphire Dial And Great Price If you are by chance, like me, a parent to a little girl, you know all about Miffy. If you are not, all you need to know is that Miffy is cult Dutch cartoon bunny created by Dick Bruna, whose books have sold more than 100 million copies since 1955. Miffy being Dutch is appropriate, since this watch is made by De Rijke & Co, a relatively young Dutch watch brand that was started after it’s owner Laurens de Rijke in 2013 took his fifty year old Vespa scooter for a trip on the Silk Road, covering a distance of 11.000 kilometer, he past countries like Azerbaijan. Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Born from this trip was an inspiration to create a watch, and it’s very interesting. While many brands want to create a fully modular watch, it always ends up being cumbersome. De Rijke went another path - he created a two part case that allows you to spin the internal part that holds the dial, crystal and movement, up to 90 degrees, allowing it to be positioned wherever you wanted for comfort. The lugs of the watch are also unique, solid and made for straps to pass through them. All of this gives the watch almost as much modularity as a modular watch, while still being a good watch.
Also, this is not the first time you will find Miffy on a De Rijke & Co. watch. They have a completely sold out collection of four Miffy watches differing only in color and limited to 25 pieces per color. The watch is powered by the Sellita SW 288-1, a movement that has been seen modified for the MING 37.05 Moonphase and unmodified in the Farer Moonphase. All of this makes sense, as the De Rijke & Co. Miffy watch is a moonphase watch, where the moon is replaced with an illustration of Miffy.
And now, here comes Revolution magazine with their special edition of the De Rijke & Co. Miffy, but this time it’s the Double Moonphase. This version of the watch has a translucent sapphire dial, which allowed them to add a second Miffy, which turns the watch into a dual-hemisphere moonphase indicator.
Production will be limited to 100 pieces and the watch is priced at EUR 3,100, which is EUR 400 higher than the already sold out Miffy’s which don’t have the sapphire dial. Available for purchase on 6 June 2023, 10pm SGT 4pm CET 10am EST
6/ The Romain Gauthier Introduces The C Titanium Edition Four In Black And Blue There’s a certain type of watch one expects from an independent watchmaker. Serious, classical, with all the watchmaking talents on display and highly personal. Romain Gauthier took all of those characteristics and applied them to his watches. Then he decided to create the Continuum, which is, in fact, an independent’s version of a sports watch, filled with Gauthier’s trademark touches. The model was later renamed C by Romain Gauthier, but the series retained the essential idea and continued to evolve aesthetically. The brand has just revealed the new edition of the C by Romain Gauthier Titanium in a Grade 5 titanium case coated with black ALDC.
If you follow the work of Romain Gauthier, the new C by Romain Gauthier Titanium Edition Four will look very familiar to you, for the watch sports the same 41mm x 9.55mm, 50m water-resistant case crafted from Grade 5 titanium, with a black diamond-like carbon coating, as the Edition Two from last year. All of the titanium used also gives the watch incredible lightness and the whole thing weighs just 55 grams.
The new reference is distinguished mainly by coloured elements. The crown at 2 o’clock features a blue rubber ring. The main dial plate in black Grade 5 titanium received a straight-graining finish; the slightly off-centred hours and minutes are indicated with the white Super-LumiNova-filled 18k white gold hands and applied numerals and hour markers.
But all of this is secondary to the movement. It is a contemporary in-house calibre, manually wound, with exceptional decoration and finishes. The movement with signature Gauthier-reinterpreted historically typical finger-style bridges in natural titanium and rhodium-treated gears is the same as in the previous Continuum editions. It beats to a frequency of 28,800vph and has a power reserve of 60 hours.
The C by Romain Gauthier Titanium Edition Four is a limited edition of 38, and comes on a black textured rubber strap with satin-finished and polished Grade 5 titanium pin buckle coated with black ADLC. It’s priced at CHF 38,000 and while this is an insane amount of money for a watch, I can think of many mass produced watches with less impressive materials and movements that will ask you for much more money.
-------------------------------------------------------------
On hand - a selection of reviews
1/ A review of the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days watch, ultra-thin and all-titanium 2/ Hands on with the very controversial Patek Philippe Calatrava 6007G -------------------------------------------------------------
Watch Worthy - A look at an offbeat, less known watch you might actually like
Classy, With A Touch Of Sportiness; The Moritz Grossmann Power Reserve Vintage Made out of solid silver, the finishing is outstanding. The elongated black Roman numerals exude elegance and are embraced with a very fine minute track. Look closely and you can see small blue markers at every five-minute increment, a touch of colour that ties in with a key element on the dial: the power reserve indication. This simple little horizontal display is very practical on a day-to-day basis when dealing with a hand-wound watch (which this is).

2023.06.05 11:39 skygabriel It's not really about the bike.
| I entered a race that my uncle sponsored. That's me on the green jersey. Borrowing his bike. A Merida Reacto 905 aero bike. It is carbon, 55mm deep wheels and dura ace groupset (105 rear brake caliper.) But nontheless it is a great bike. Guess what, the cyclist that won was riding a sunpeed bike. The most entry level roadbike you can find. I finished 15mins after them, out of 21 people, I was 9th. Only 10 finished the race. For the winner though, he was on a team, 4 of them to be exact. They kept attacking, and newbie me kept on responding to the attacks. We were then dropped on the climb, 36kms out of 45kms. The 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th placers were teammates. So, I guess that they helped each other. I also saw 2 twitter bikes, and a Willier. I had the best bike, but didn't have the best performance. On any sport, the most important is teamwork, next is skill, and finally-equipment. i want to get into hot shotting. and this just doesn't seem to make sense is GCWR enforced heavily? as a 2005 F350 CCB 4x4 dually has 13,000 LB GVWR. its GCWR is 23,000 LB's but its towing capacity gooseneck/5th wheel is 17,000 LB's this makes no sense. and its conflicting information. by all logic and means from stickers in the door jam, manuals and official figures from Ford. a 2005 F350 dually can only tow 10K rated gooseneck. or bumper pull because it'll be overweight.

2023.06.05 00:19 HealBeforeZod The Shift from Hell Part 2 of 2
Click here to read Part 1 Violence Kastor wheeled his cart in the direction where the bathrooms would be in the building where he worked. Exhausted, he did not notice that when he walked past the other stalls to clean a toilet, that he walked past someone whose head was being dunked into a toilet by an imp. The imp cackled, “it’s just a prank, bro.” Kastor overheard when he was finishing up the bathroom and turned to the imp, not noticing the creature’s inhuman appearance.
“Hey, don’t make me call HR.” He said, pointing a stern finger at the imp.
The imp paused, then Kastor continued to the next room, leaving behind the imp and the soul of a man who in life had hosted an obnoxious prank show that frequently led to people getting seriously injured.
Fraud The next room was a mess, the floor covered in broken pieces of objects.
Kastor, ignoring the occupants and focusing on the mess, didn’t realize the room was filled with influencers and media personalities. Here they were forced for all eternity to only have access to the faulty goods, foods, and services they had peddled in life. They wore poorly constructed, ill-fitting clothes, ate food with terrible taste, and many of the objects they held crumbled to pieces easily, causing more mess for Kastor to clean up. Kastor muttered under his breath, then proceeded to the final room.
Treachery The boss’s office was always last on Kastor’s route. Kastor entered the room, fine leather chairs, a large, mahogany desk. Kastor paused, his mouth agape at the sight of the entity in the large office chair. A pale, impeccably dressed man with slicked back hair watched him. Kastor’s eyes looked around the room, realizing there was no room like it in the office building where he worked. He pinched himself, but he did not wake up.
“Again?!” The well-dressed man stood up from his chair, “this is the third time this week!”
Kastor stood by, confused. In a quavering voice he asked, “where am I and who are you?”
“Oh, for the love of—HELL! You are in hell. And I suppose you could think of me as the devil, though the situation is far more nuanced than that. Let me guess, did you see a ring of fire and decide to walk through it?”
“Um,” Kastor paused, trying to recall his evening, it was a blur. “I, uh, I’m not sure. It’s been a long day.”
“Let me guess, you work in an office building?”
“Uh, yes.” Kastor nodded.
“Damn humans making their workspaces so similar to Hell that it creates a metaphysical link. It’s happened three times this week alone, THREE TIMES. This poor call center agent accidentally plopped into the 5th circle two days ago. Mind you, she is still very much alive and far too kind to end up here. I mean, I know I am supposed to delight in human suffering, but what is there left for me to do? My work is meaningless, Earth and Hell are pretty much interchangeable!” The devil paced back and forth in the room, muttering curses. While Kastor was unnerved that he somehow wandered into Hell, and he knew objectively the devil was supposed to be pure evil, he did feel a little bad for the devil.
“I’m sorry?”
“Not your fault, I’m just nettled is all.” The devil replied, settling back into his chair with a prolonged sigh. Kastor paused, trying to think of something he could say to console the devil, a situation he would have never imagined himself in.
“Perhaps think of it as franchising?” Kastor suggested. “You’re just expanding operations to Earth?” Upon hearing Kastor’s take on the matter, the devil’s mouth widened in a genuine grin.
“You’re right!” The devil leaned back in his chair, propping his arms behind his head. “Franchising, that’s a good point of view. Tell me, are you interested in new employment? I could use a new head of PR, the last one left for a job in cable news.”
“Oh, um,” Kastor gulped. His job was awful, paid minimum wage, and was so agonizingly tedious that he accidentally walked into Hell, unable to tell the difference. He reached down into his wallet and pulled out a picture of his Lola. He remembered her disappointment when he ate all the lumpia as a child. What would she think of him if he worked for literal Satan? He lifted his eyes to the devil and shook his head, “I appreciate the offer, but I must decline. I don’t want to disappoint my Lola.”
The devil sighed deeply, “I suppose I shall send you back then.” He paused, shifting his eyes, “this was, um, a moral test. Congratulations, you are now going to heaven for your ability to turn down temptation, yay.” The devil’s tone was monotone. He snapped his fingers, sending Kastor back to the janitor’s closet.
The devil, alone in his now-empty room, lowered his head. It hadn’t been a test. He really did need a new head of PR.

2023.06.04 20:23 jimbobbypaul Ranking the Top 131 FBS Programs of the Last 40 Years: 82. Memphis
Main hub thread with the full 131 rankings What if I told you Memphis made Peyton Manning the QB he is today? In 1996, Memphis hosted junior QB Peyton Manning and #6 Tennessee late in the season. Memphis was just 3-6, while Tennessee was 6-1 and in the hunt for a national title.
In true college football chaos fashion, the 26 point underdog Tigers pulled off a 21-17 win, scoring a TD with just 34 seconds to go. Returner Kevin Cobb took back a controversial 95 kick return for TD in which it looked like his knee was down, but the refs ruled it a TD. The play won an ESPY for college football play of the year, and the win was one of the biggest in school history.

Memphis: 1-11 (-67.338) Overall Score: 10364 (82nd)
- 213-253-6 record
- 2 conference titles
- 5-8 bowl record
- 4 consensus All-Americans
- 60 NFL players drafted
60 NFL players is a LOT. Especially for a Group of 5 team. Memphis has produced the most NFL draftees of anyone on the list so far with 60, more than the 6 Power 5 teams we’ve seen including Iowa State, Indiana, Kansas, and Rutgers. Primarily they’ve been a RB factory in recent years, producing NFL RBs DeAngelo Williams, Tony Pollard, Antonio Gibson, Darrell Henderson, and Kenneth Gainwell. The first 3 produced 1000+ yard rushing seasons in the NFL, while Gainwell ran for 100 yards in a playoff game last year, and Henderson won a Super Bowl with the Rams recently. They also have a shout to be Special Teams U, producing All-American K Joe Allison, All-American P Tom Hornsey, NFL 2010s All-Decade K Stephen Gostkowski, and current NFL starting kickers Jake Elliott and Riley Patterson.
Top 5 Seasons
Worst Season: 2010 (1-11 overall, 0-8 Conference USA) I can only imagine how helpless Dontari Poe felt. The 6’3 345 lb DT would be drafted with the 11th overall pick just 2 years later, and was a standout talent on an otherwise hapless Memphis team. Memphis ranked bottom 5 in both offense (14.4 PPG) and defense (39.8 PPG) in 2010, losing 8 games by 20+ points. Freshman punter Tom Hornsey probably enjoyed the inept offense, getting to punt 80 times for a 42.7 yard average. Hornsey would go on to be a consensus All-American 3 years later in 2013. They somehow beat Middle Tennessee 24-17, who made a bowl. But a 17-56 loss to 5-7 Houston was bad. Most of the blame fell on the shoulders of first year head coach Larry Porter, who prior to his hiring, had never been a head coach or even coordinator. Porter came from LSU’s RB coach position, and has returned to coaching RBs ever since his firing in 2011. As one
cfb member put it, “Larry Porter almost got our program cancelled.”
5. 2003 (9-4 overall, 5-3 Conference USA) After beating Tennessee Tech 40-10 in the opener, Memphis made themselves nationally known in week 2, beating Eli Manning and Ole Miss 44-34. Memphis QB Danny Wimprine outdueled Manning, throwing for 355 yards and 3 TD with no picks, also catching a 34 yard pass on a trick play. Future NFL RB Deangelo Williams burst onto the scene, racking up 166 and 3 TD from scrimmage on 32 touches. Ole Miss was a good team that year too, they’d finish 10-3 with a #13 final ranking. Memphis had a hangover after the game though, and won just 1 of their next 4. They grouped together to win 5 straight by an average score of 37-14, before losing to USF 16-21 in the final regular season game. Tied for 3rd place in C-USA, Memphis faced 3 straight Sun Belt champs North Texas in the New Orleans Bowl, shutting down any UNT passing game for a 27-17 win. Junior QB Danny Wimprine threw for 3000+ yards with 22 TD 13 INT, and would finish his career next season as Memphis’ all-time leading passer with 10,215 yards and 81 TD. DeAngelo Williams won C-USA Offensive POTY with just 11 games played, going for 1814 yards from scrimmage. Sophomore K Stephen Gostkowski was 19/29 on FGs.
4. 2017 (10-3 overall, 7-1 American) By 2017, Memphis was known as one of the more solid Group of 5 programs, having gone 27-12 over the previous 3 years, located in an area with lots of local talent. QB Riley Ferguson and WR Anthony Miller returned for their seniors year after a great 2016 connection, and would level up in 2017. In week 3 they hosted #25 UCLA and Josh Rosen, who had just completed a 34-point comeback against Texas A&M 2 weeks prior. Ferguson was the better QB on the day, throwing for 6 TD in a 48-45 upset win. After a 3-0 start they’d lose 13-40 to a UCF team that would finish the season unbeaten. A few weeks later, a 30-27 win over #25 Navy would give Memphis their second win over a top 25 team in one season, their first time ever doing so. Other wins included 42-38 over Houston after being down 14-31 in the 3rd quarter, 66-45 over 7-6 SMU, and 70-13 over East Carolina. It was #20 UCF (11-0) vs #20 Memphis (10-1) for the AAC title, and UCF, a team of destiny that year, would win 62-55 in OT in one of the games of the year. Memphis played an emotional Iowa State team in the bowl, who was having their best season in decades, and lost by 1 point.
Ferguson threw for 4257 yards 38 TD 9 INT, completing a fantastic 2-season career after transferring from community college. RB Patrick Taylor Jr. got the bulk of carries with 157 for 866 yards and 13 TD, but it was Darrell Henderson who popped off with 1154 rushing yards on 8.9(!!!) yards per carry. Anthony Miller was a consensus All-American with 96 catches for 1462 yards and 18 TD, leading the nation in TD catches. LB Genard Avery had a stellar season on the defensive side with 80 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and 13.5 TFL.
This was one of the best offenses in the country, ranking 2nd in PPG with 45.5.
3. 2015 (9-4 overall, 5-3 American) Justin Fuente was building something special at Memphis. Hired to clean up the mess Larry Porter left, Fuente had Memphis go 10-3 in 2014, his 3rd year, ending on a 7 game win streak. With that momentum, the Tigers started hot in 2015. A 55-23 win over Kansas in week 2 wasn’t even close, outgaining them 651-359. After wins over eventual MAC champion Bowling Green, and eventual bowl teams Cincinnati and USF, Memphis improved to 5-0, set to host #13 Ole Miss. In front of 60,000 fans, Memphis owned the Rebels, scoring 31 straight points in a 37-24 win. Memphis looked like a legit team that could compete with Power 5 schools for the first time ever. 2 wins later, they were up to #13 in the nation with a win streak of 15 games dating back to last season. The wheels would fall off against 6-1 Navy though. A -3 turnover margin was costly, as Navy just chewed clock on drives in a 45-20 win. Navy would go on to finish #18 and Keenan Reynolds was top 5 in Heisman voting. Originally the media darlings as the top ranked G5 team, #21 Memphis now faced unbeaten #24 Houston, who came back from down 34-14 in the 4th quarter to win by 1 point. Memphis slipped again, losing 12-31 to a really underrated Temple team, before taking their frusturations out in a 63-0 win over SMU. The 63-0 win had…the wildest statline I’ve ever seen? Ferguson went 9/14 on passes for 222 yards and 7 TD. Seven touchdowns on nine completions???
The year ended with an uneventful 31-10 loss to Auburn in the bowl. It was kind of a “what if” season for Memphis, losing 4 of their last 5, but still their 3rd best season in the last 40 years. Lynch parlayed a 3776 passing yard 28 TD 4 INT season into a 1st round selection by the Denver Broncos, successfully scamming the Elways. Somewhat deserved though, this team had just 1 other 1st/2nd team all-conference player in OL Taylor Fallin, so Lynch carried most of the load. Fuente left for the head coaching job at Virginia Tech after the season.
2. 2014 (10-3 overall, 7-1 American) The year before 2015 was slightly better. This team was young and nobody knew who they were yet, as they’d gone just 12-48 over the previous 5 seasons. The media could smell something brewing under Fuente though, as Memphis was picked 7th out of 11 teams in the American, giving them a solid shot at making a bowl. Memphis surprised everyone in week 2, playing #11 UCLA to a 35-42 loss in the Rose Bowl (venue, not game). A 41-14 win over Cincinnati in week 5 signalled that Memphis had truly arrived, the offense clicking on all cylinders with 610 yards and 0 turnovers. After a loss to Houston, Memphis was 3-3 and 1-1 in the American, about to get into the meat of conference play. Easy wins over SMU and Tulsa improved their record to 5-3, and a walkoff FG for a 16-13 win over 5-3 Temple earned them bowl eligibility for the first time in 6 years. At 6-3 and 4-1 in the American, Memphis just needed to win their last 3 games to claim the conference title. A soft remaining schedule consisted of Tulane, USF, and UConn, whose combined record at the end of the year was 9-27. Memphis won all 3 easily, and clinched a share of the American title with Cincinnati and UCF, completing a dream regular season.
They had a wild game in the Miami Beach Bowl, beating BYU 55-48, and tempers erupted at the end of the game, leading to one of the best brawls of the decade. Memphis achieved double digit wins for the first time in school history and finished #25, their first top 25 finish ever. LB Tank Jakes won AAC Defensive POTY with 92 tackles, 6 sacks, and 9.5 TFL. K Jake Elliott was the AAC Special Teams POTY, going 21/32 on FGs, ranking 1st in the AAC in scoring, and hit a 54 yard FG in the bowl. Justin Fuente won AAC Coach of the Year. Memphis football was back!
1. 2019 (12-2 overall, 7-1 American) This team was LOADED offensively. QB Brady White, the second year starting QB who transferred from Arizona State, could hand the ball off to future NFL RB Kenneth Gainwell, or throw to all-conference WR Damonte Coxie or future NFL players Antonio Gibson and Calvin Austin III. The year started strong with a 15-10 shutdown of Ole Miss, followed up by a 5-0 start. #23 Memphis lost in a 28-30 upset to Temple, but that’d be the Tigers’ last loss all regular season. With College GameDay attending, #24 Memphis beat #15 unbeaten SMU 54-48 in an absolute barnburner, Antonio Gibson going for 97 rushing yards, 130 receiving yards, 159 kick return yards, and 3 total TD. And he touched the ball just 12 times!!! That’s 386 yards on 12 touches! Memphis needed to win their final regular season game against #19 Cincinnati to make the American championship game, and grinded out a 34-24 win. The two would rematch a week later, and Cincinnati would give a better effort, but the Bearcats were too depleted at this point in the season, and Memphis scored a late TD to win 29-24 and claim their 2nd conference title in 5 years. #17 Memphis earned the Group of 5 slot for a New Years 6 bowl and played admirably against #10 Penn State, losing 39-53 in a fun game. The two were polar opposites, Memphis throwing for 479 yards and rushing for 53, while Penn State threw for 133 and rushed for 396.
Brady White finished 2nd Team all-conference, throwing for 4014 yards 33 TD 11 INT. He’d go on to finish his career a year later as Memphis’ all-time leading passer with 10,949 yards and 92 TD. Freshman RB Kenneth Gainwell had an unreal year, rushing for 1459 yards and 13 TD on 6.3 YPC while also catching 51 passes for 610 yards and 3 TD. WR Damonte Coxie was 2nd Team all-conference with 1276 receiving yards. Do-it-all WR Antonio Gibson put on a show all year long with 369 rushing yards and 4 TD on 11.2 YPC, 38 catches for 735 yards and 8 TD, and won AAC Special Teams POTY with 28 yards per kick return and a TD. Even TE Joey Magnifico was all-conference.
2019 Memphis is my 42nd best Group of 5 team since 1983.
5th Quarter
What play/playegame do you think of when you think of Memphis? Who was a better coach at Memphis, Justin Fuente or Mike Norvell? Fuente rescued Memphis from the depths they were in and built a solid foundation, while Norvell took it a step further, making a New Years 6 Bowl. How would you rank these QBs in college: Paxton Lynch, Riley Ferguson, and Brady White? How would you rank these RBs in college: DeAngelo Williams, Darrell Henderson, Tony Pollard, Kenneth Gainwell? What’d you think of those Fuente/Norvell teams that were beating top 25 teams on a yearly basis, were you scared of them? And how do you think Memphis should fare when it comes to conference expansion, are they a nice program to add?

| Does anyone know why this water is dripping? There’s one on the other side of the camper too but it doesn’t drip as much. I thought it was from the AC condensation but it still drips when the AC has been off for hours. I shut the water off too to see if it stops and it kept dripping. 2023.06.04 16:09 Avo_Gitidi Deep Rock in Smash Bros.
The Dwarves would have the same weight as Samus, two jumps and no special movement options.
Gimmick
The Dwarves would be able to swap between them, each one having different Special moves.
This would happen when you hold shield and the special button, a wheel will appear with the option to choose from any of the classes: top left-Gunner, top right-Scout, bottom left-Engineer and bottom right-Driller.
They will also have an ammo bar for the specials that is shared for everyone.
Basic Attacks
Jab-DRG’s jab would be similar to Steve’s where they can still move while using it, they would swing their pickaxe in a downwards motion stopping right in front of them doing good damage and knockback like Ganon’s jab.
F-Tilt-The Dwarves would take out Engineer’s Warthog and do a simple blast forward.
D-Tilt-They would use Driller’s Plasma Charger and shoot at the ground making a small explosion.
U-Tilt-For the up tilt the Dwarves would throw a flare high over their shoulder.
F-Smash- The Dwarfs would do a Power Attack in front of them with their pickaxe.
D-Smash-They would use Scout’s Zhukov NUK17 and shoot both sides at the same time making it a multihit.
U-Smash-DRG would use the Bulldog and shoot directly upwards.
Nair-They would use the CRSPR Flamethrower and shoot around them.
Fair-It would be a classic downwards swing with the pickaxe.
Bair-The Dwarves would use the Boomstick shooting backwards doing huge knockback and even pushing the player due to the recoil.
Dair-The Dwarves would be encased in a Personal Drop Pod and go straight down, spiking all the way.
Uair-DRG would use the Stubby and shoot up while moving it slightly side to side.
Grabs
The Dwarves would grab with one hand and pummel with the handle of the pickaxe. Throws will also regenerate a small portion of ammo.
F-Throw-For the forward throw they would simply shoot the opponent in the face with the Subata.
B-Throw-The Dwarves would push the foe behind them and then shoot him with the Flare Gun in the belly.
D-Throw-They would pin the enemy down and then a resupply pod would fall on top of him. This one regenerates all ammo.
U-Throw-DRG would throw them upwards and then use the Lead Storm to continuously shoot the foe upwards.
Specials
N-Special:The neutral specials are gonna be about the Dwarfs shooting their guns while also being able to aim them. They will have to reload the weapons which makes them stay still and vulnerable.
Gunner-The Gunner would use the Thunderhead, the gun will speed up with time and will create a small explosion on impact with anything. It has 110 bullets and takes 5 seconds to reload.(440 max ammo)
Scout-The Scout will use the M1000 that will charge up if you don’t shoot it immediately. It has 8 bullets and reloads in 2 seconds.(96 max ammo)
Engineer-The Engineer will use the Breach Cutter that will shoot out big horizontal plasma blades that do a bit of multi hitting before launching the opponent. It has 3 bullets before reloading, taking 3 seconds to do so.(12 max ammo)
Driller-The Driller will use the Corrosive Sludge Pump shooting slime balls that do damage, slow enemies and if they hit the ground, they will make a puddle. It has 20 bullets and reloads in 3 seconds.(120 max ammo)
F-Special:The forward specials are gonna be about the throwables. Each class has 4 throwables each.
Gunner-The Gunner will throw a Cluster Grenade that will divide into 9 other bomblets that will explode on impact with anything.
Scout-The Scout will throw his Voltaic Stun Sweeper which will stun any opponent it hits and bounce to any targets that are nearby and then break, if it doesn’t hit anyone it will return to the Scout.
Engineer-The Engineer will throw a Shredder Swarm that on impact will burst into 5 Shredders that will go after any foe and deal damage and knockback, breaking in the process.
Driller-The Driller would throw an Impact Axe that will do high damage and knockback to anyone it touches.
D-Special:The down specials are gonna be about the utility items with the exception of the Scout.
Gunner-The Gunner will put down a Shield Generator that will block projectiles and if any enemy enters the bubble they will start taking damage and their damage will be reduced.(4 max ammo)
Scout-The Scout will throw an Inhibitor-Field Generator, if any foe gets hit by the IFG’s explosion they will be slowed for 10 seconds.(4 max ammo)
Engineer-The Engineer would make an LMG Gun Platform that after 4 seconds will be ready to shoot. It will shoot 3 bullets per second, have a 90 bullet magazine, when it’s empty it will need the Engineer to reload it taking 2 seconds to do so.(425 max ammo)
Driller-The Driller will throw out a Satchel Charge, if he uses it again it will explode doing high damage and knockback.(2 max ammo)
U-Special:The up specials are gonna be about the movement items.
Gunner-The Gunner will use a Zipline Launcher that will shoot directly at the nearest ledge and slowly carry the gunner to the other side. The Gunner can still act while on the zipline but only doing aerials and specials. Other players can use the zipline by simply jumping on top of it and they will be automatically attached. The zipline will have a 1.5 second reload that will only start when any of the classes reaches the destination. (3 max ammo)
Scout-The Scout will use his Grappling Hook as a tether recovery with a 4 second cooldown.(Infinite ammo)
Engineer-The Engineer will use his Platform Gun and shoot 4 times once below him and the other 3 in the direction of the nearest ledge, these will act like normal platforms that anyone can use and it will have a 2 second reload.(16 max ammo)
Driller-The Driller will use the Reinforced Power Drills which will drill through a small tunnel around him for 3 seconds using 8 ammo. If he arrives at the stage it will take him 8 seconds until he can use them again. When he hits an opponent it will become a multi hit and last an extra second launching the opponent when he overloads(the time runs out).(38 max ammo)
Final Smash
DRG’s final smash will begin with the Drop Pod coming from above, any opponent hit by it will be transitioned into a cutscene where they are in Hoxxes getting mauled by Glyphids, Rockpox meteors and Rival tech weaponry such as the Nemesis. I am looking for brands/models with 2 a/c units at 50 amps that has bunk house option in a pull behind. Seems to be pretty hard to find. We had a 34 ft 5th wheel that was 1 a/c 30 amp and literally could t camp in Texas where we moved to from Oregon. It couldn’t cool it down and would trip the breaker if you tried to use anything else. Sold the 5th wheel so looking for a pull behind since I use my truck bed for work now. Any brands to look for would be great.

2023.06.04 13:09 EdgyAlpaca BB9 5 lug wheel hub conversion?
| Hi all. I know that BB9 preludes are fairly uncommon here since they are Europe only. One of the oddities with these is that they come with 4 lug wheel hubs. There's a lot of documentation about people converting 4th gen preludes to 5 lug hubs but I can find nothing about the BB9. if I had an assembly from a VTEC 5th gen, would it just bolt right on? It looks like there aren't many good 17 inch wheel options for the 4 lug hubs. I have a set of 16 inch motegi style wheels on right now that desperately need a refurb if I'm going to keep them - so if there's a time to look for new hubs and wheels it's now :) submitted by EdgyAlpaca to hondaprelude [link] [comments] |
2023.06.04 09:34 Brcon7904 Gale Banks Power for 2020 L5P
| Placed my order with Jeff A. at Banks Power on Thursday and received my shipment this morning: Monster Exhaust (primarily to direct the exhaust out to the side) Banks Boost Tubes, Ram-Air Intake, Banks differential cover w/ AMS Oil Severe Gear lube, Derringer Gen 2 w/ I-Dash, Pedal Monster, Stealth Pod. And Jeff was kind enough to throw in a 18% Vet Discount and the chrome Banks emblems. Next step is shopping for a solid 5th wheel. submitted by Brcon7904 to Duramax [link] [comments] |
2023.06.04 07:53 Eyezon-The-Sky Is this and Urgent Care issue or an ER issue?
A week and a half ago got into a car u was driving down a 2 lane road, I had a car ridding my butt. I was coming to a curve in the road and my car went out on my, the steering wheel wasn’t working and locked up in me. I couldn’t slam on my breaks because I had another car ridding my but, i ended loosing control and went across the second lane and hit a tree the air bag deployed. I hit my head pretty hard. At that time the only my head was hurting. I was taken to ER to make sure I didn’t have a concussion. Once my brain scan came back everything was normal I was released. The day after the accident I woke up and my left side ribs were so sore, it hit to breath it hurt or touch, talk, even laying down and getting up was an issues. This happened May 31, it is now June 5th and my ribs still hurt, they hurt to touch and breathing hurts, sometimes I can’t take in a deep breath because of the pain. It’s Hurd to use the bathroom 1&2 because pushing hurts.I was trying to tough this out but it’s not getting better so. I do workout because I’m pretty athletic, so I’ve been doing sup light weights. I notice after I workout the pain is worse. So ima chill on working out till my ribs heal. Idk if my ribs are bruised or fractured and I don’t want to make it worse. I can’t lay on my stomach or my left side because of the pain. My question is should I go to Urgent Care or the ER to get my ribs checked.i anyone could give some advice I’d greatly appreciate it!!
