Z32 Buying Advice/Concerns
2023.03.29 01:18 Scryptiid Z32 Buying Advice/Concerns
| Hello Z enthusiasts. I’m hoping to get some thoughts from the involved community on a Z32 I’m looking at buying. I have a few concerns/hopes and just want to gain more insight. It’s a 1990 2+2 with a TT swap. Odo and seller say just under 100k, and the swap is said to have been done with a low mileage TT engine by RameyZ in Ohio. This wasn’t done by the current seller, but an owner before him. Claimed work and mods are in the pictures at the end. First problem is, can’t get paperwork for most of that work. However, I can verify the car was sold in Ohio, bought by a dealership(assumed) here and then was bought by the current owner from them. I’ve also seen the posting from the owner that had the swap and work done, but it was a number of years ago and there’s no way to track down that owner or specific records. VIN report doesn’t have anything strange, no accident reports, nothing. All the sale postings I’ve seen match up with locations and mileage (report includes old sale postings that could be found.) The current owner is getting me whatever records and receipts he can find for the work he has done. Second, price. I’m also hesitant to even say, cause I know the immediate response is “Too much”. Owner is asking 17,500. Going rate for a clean TT here is anywhere from about $20,000-$40,000. Clean NA models are about $8k-14k. The number doesn’t sound ludicrous to me. I’m highly and keenly aware that nearly everywhere else in the country is cheaper. But for this market, seems about right? Worth noting that I very specifically want a 2+2 TT. My plan was to import one via a personal connection, but someone brought this up. I doubt I’ll find a clean import for less. Third, the car looks to be clean and mostly original with some minor dings on the front driver’s fender mostly. However, it doesn’t have the grey/black strip or Nissan sticker on the front bumper which leads me to think that has been repainted. How concerned should I be about that? I will have the chance to see the car in person and the owner is even setting up time to get the car on a lift and get under it. I truly don’t have any sense that he has anything to hide. I’m just concerned that maybe something was hidden from him, or he never noticed an issue. He didn’t drive the car much, but for understandable reasons. Obviously this isn’t perfect, but I want to be sure I’m not overlooking any massive red flags. I’m fairly confident mechanically and this meant to be kind of a long term build/project. I’m not expecting pristine, and don’t plan to pay for pristine. This seems like it could be a good opportunity for the specifics I am looking for. But if I look foolish, please do tell me. submitted by Scryptiid to 300zx [link] [comments] |
2023.03.29 01:08 FallOutComrade Early Career Change: JD -> Regulatory Policy?
Hi,
I would love your perspectives on transitioning to a career in Regulatory Law + Policy by getting a JD.
I studied Economics at a T10 undergrad, and have spent two years in banking and am now in private equity. What I quickly realized is that I don't care (that much) about the money - even as a first year banker, my base salary was more than enough for my lifestyle.
What I do care about, however, is our policy and society. Reading about "Hipster Antitrust" and seeing the FTC's posturing on corporate actions like Microsoft x Activision has been unbelievably frustrating.
I have a 337 on the GRE that I took in anticipation of getting an MBA, but I'm seriously considering going to law school to work in policy and dedicate myself to public service. It seems that a MPP doesn't carry nearly as much weight. I know that I'll have to take the LSAT and everything, but I just want to know if this sort of path is feasible / if there are any red flags I should be aware of.
Would love to hear some of your thoughts - have been brooding about this for a while.

TIPS
You might have to try a few times or for a while. While you can find that "perfect" place on the first few tries, think of it also as "dating". There are different ice cream flavors of Buddhism. So try a few places and keep going until you find one that best suits you.
And when you do find that "home" temple, you sense a connection with this community, sign up for their newsletter to get updates, contact them by email and ask about becoming a regular attendee or a member. You might want to officially become a Buddhist in which case, ask them for a Refuge Vow ceremony. As a member of the temple or center, support your temple and monks with generous gifts, donations, or volunteer work.
Ultimately, going to the temple is not enough, you want to be an active member of the sangha. Ask them for any temple-led courses or programs. Ask how you can help. Regularly connect with your dharma friends and teachers to learn more about the Buddhist life.
FAQ
Question: Wait, there's so many. What tradition/sect do I choose? Answer: As a beginner, you don't choose. Try them all. Do that for sometime. Then naturally you'll gravitate more towards what you have connection with.
If you find any issues, scandals, or controversies with the temples/centers above, please let me know. If you find any of these temples to be your "home", consider supporting them through generous donations.
Question: Okay, its my first time, what exactly do I need to do. Answer: As a beginner, don't worry about it. Just attend.
What's different about this list? Unlike many lists online which include a lot of frauds, cults, and controversial abusive groups, the list you have here are carefully selected. It filtered out all these problematic groups. Giving you only with the legitimate authentic Buddhist communities that are faithful to orthodoxy.
With that said, even if a school or sect is authentic, this doesn't mean that individuals or the leadership within are upholding Buddhism faithfully. In that case, you will still need to do your own due diligence to observe for any warning signs or red flags.

2023.03.29 00:41 Muted-Thought7142 Not getting a kiss back on our 7th date -- what to think?
TLDR: been on 7 dates, gave her a quick smack in our last date before leaving, she didn't give it back. I walked home in shock and heartbroken. Should I move on and try to find somebody else?
Longer story: so I've been dating this girl for almost 2 months, we have a lot in common and have a good affinity, and I was starting to think that I finally found the one. We've been on 7 dates and each time had a lot of fun. I never tried making any advances because I'm not like that, and she didn't either.
In our last date, we went out in her neighborhood (as usual -- we always go to a place near her house and far from mine), I again paid for the drinks (as usual -- I've always paid for everything so far), we talked a lot and laughed a lot; when we were about to part ways and each go home, it was around 1AM, and I thought that I would give her a quick kiss (just a smack on the lips) before heading home, as a sign of affection slash love.
When I kissed her she didn't move, didn't kiss me back, didn't say anything, she just looked at the street around us. I was very surprised, and took a step back in confusion. I played it off by saying something casual, she answered something a bit awkward, then turned back and left. I proceeded to head home too, completely devastated that after 7 dates and countless hours spent talking and having fun she didn't want to give me a kiss before I headed home. To me there are signs of affection that speak volumes, and not getting this basic sign of affection on that street at 1AM after so much time together truly hurt me and spoke volumes.
What should I think of this? Should I just forget it and pursue? Should I walk away? Am I overthinking this?
I am considering walking away over this. For general context, she isn't the kind of shy person, who would hesitate to kiss if she wanted to. There is a bit of a red flag that I noticed early on, which is that she is somewhat self-centered: we talk much more about her than we do about me, we always go to her neighborhood and never mine, I pay for everything and she's never proposed to. Basically what does not revolve around her to some extent does not matter.
With that in mind I now really feel like I don't matter. Worse it feels like I didn't deserve a sign of affection. Like I didn't do enough, or am not good enough. I don't know anymore if she loves me, or even likes me. I was truly devastated when I arrived home at 2AM.

2023.03.29 00:16 smokedbarmpot Forgetting her seems harder than accepting that she's a stranger once again.
As the title says, I am presently undergoing a breakup, and I believe that opening up to some anonymous individuals online would be preferable to keeping my thoughts bottled up.
In essence, this woman and I crossed paths some time ago and began a romantic relationship. While I had been in relationships before, this was the first time I had experienced genuine love. Our relationship lasted nearly a year, and my intentions were always pure. I had an ardent desire to make her happy, which is why the phrase "I was never happy" - even though she acted as if she were - has remained deeply etched in my memory.
It has now been over six months since our breakup, and I have not been the same emotionally since. Although I have heard a great deal of advice such as "move on" and "forget her," none of it seems to be of any assistance. The more I try to forget her, the more vividly I recall the details of our time together.
If not for the gym, my mental state might not have been stable. I began going to the gym as a "joke" with some friends nearly a year ago and only visited two to three times per week. However, during the last six months, the gym has been critical to how I feel. I now go six to seven times a week, striving hard and attempting to forget reality for a few hours. One thing that I am proud of is that I did not attempt to alleviate my sadness through unhealthy means, such as drugs. Instead, I managed to conquer my sadness by engaging in healthy activities that push my physical limits.
I recently changed universities and made new friends, acquaintances, and colleagues. I project an image of emotional and physical strength, so confiding in friends was never an option for me. How would they perceive me if a large, physically imposing man who was over six feet tall, weighed over 100 kilos, and had a low body fat percentage and could lift twice his weight was emotionally fragile and hung up over a woman?
I observe how my friends change partners every month or even every week, but that lifestyle does not appeal to me. I am aware that people say one should enjoy their twenties, but for me, one-night stands are not a means of enjoyment. When I date, I genuinely want to spend a significant amount of time with the person, not just a handful of days that I can count on one hand.
I attempted to date recently, but the smallest red flags in the women I met irritated me, and I did not feel like dating, even though I feel like the loneliest person on earth. I now realize that I used to ignore some red flags in my ex-girlfriend because of my love for her, but it does not seem to be a good idea to ignore them.
Do you people think that there is a way (because there surely is a will) for me to leave back the past and move on to the future? every comment is appreciated!

2023.03.28 22:14 Nomyad777 [Portal] Chapter 2
[WP] The Elven Kingdoms call their old allies the Humans for aid. Expecting medieval armies, they get a modern 21st century one instead. First Portal - 2
Warmaster Franrok of the Daemons watched with satisfaction as the army failed. With the eradication of the mortal plane, they could continue forcefully climbing until they beat down the gates of Heaven.
Then, a rapid series of bangs. Explosive catapult charges slammed into his army. More bangs, a tac-tac-tac, and he could even hear a BRRRT as his hearing was overwhelmed with the amount of sound forced into the air.
He watched as a new line behind the Elves began to spit fire. These beings were just a bit shorter than the elves, and he knew who they were instinctively.
Humans.
The race who they had sent back to their own dimension, lest they turn the tide of any war they were losing. And they were here. But it was too late for the Warmaster.
Planes dropped bombs over moving siege towers. Helicopters acted as moving Gatling guns. Tanks shot shells into the invading army indiscriminately. Soldiers fired, snipers killed, and special ops took prisoners.
"Charge their lines! No surrender!" the Warmaster shouted.
"No surrender!" The rest chanted back at him, before moving. They got nowhere, simply becoming a pile of bodies within minutes. But the Warmaster had plenty of bodies; he could bury the city and continue.
And that's when the next thing he feared occurred.
"This is a broadcast from the Terra Firma System's Union." a voice echoed over the battlefield. "As per the Geneva Conventions, prisoners of war include surrendees. They are subject to fair treatment including food and water, a place to sleep, medical treatment, and are prohibited from being tortured or interrogated for information. Civilian seekers of asylum from any nation are also afforded these basic sapient rights. Or you can die in a hail of gunfire in this field.
"Surrenders and asylum seekers alike are to drop their weapons, put their hands or grasping appendages above their heads, and raise a white flag over their location. Faking surrender is in violation of the Geneva Conventions and will result in the loss of privileges granted by the Geneva Convention to the entire violating party.
"The Geneva Convention bans the intentional murder and injury of medics and civilians, as well as prohibiting chemical and biological warfare. Weapons Of Mass Destruction are also prohibited; this includes orbital strikes, nuclear weaponry, intentional geological and environmental irritation, and the use of high-profile cybernetics. For a copy of the Geneva Conventions and to start negotiations, raise a yellow flag over your location.
"This is not a complete list of acts of war the Geneva Convention bans. Remember: To surrender, white flag, no weapons, and hands above your head. Decapitation strikes on command and logistics centers and personnel are not prohibited by any rule of war; we recommend that you decide quickly.
"You have five minutes before we resume firing."
What I feared. Persuasion. As if to prove a point, one of their high-speed flyers passed my command tent. As I looked out, I saw pockets of survivors raising white flags over their locations. Looking at the destruction before me, I saw I had no choice.
"Raise a yellow flag," I ordered the closest soldier. It was time to see what the Humans offered.
-----
"Are you mad!?!?!" As a Royal Guard, I was fearing for my life before, and now I was still fearing for my life - at the hands of the King.
The entire castle could hear his screaming at the Electorate. She kept a calm face, which only appeared to further agitate the King. Me, being one of the guards in the room that they were talking in, was going deaf.
"So? It worked." Electorate Kala said, unfazed by the screeching royal in front of her. "The surendees will most likely shine a light on why the Daemons invaded and why they demanded the Roman Empire be disconnected from Etheria in the first place. Additionally, it would be against the ethical values of the TFSU to not offer surrender, as per the Geneva Conventions."
"They have killed thousands! With our current population density, maybe millions!! And you're going to what!?! Let them continue!?!?!"
Electorate Kala tilted her head to the side, listening to the metal device attached to her ear. "We have a yellow flag over their command tent, and almost all whites over the remaining regions. A couple daemons have unsuccessfully charged the army, but that's it. Not a single death."
"They are evil, they are-"
"My mission here was to stop the killing," Electorate Kala said, a steel in her voice not there before. "Not kill in return. You wanted help saving the city, we have done that, with no warning; do you have any idea how much this costs? The TFSU is millions, maybe a billion dollars out of the bank, and that's fine; we saved a lot of people. But. It's our millions of dollars, and as such, we now run the show here. We will do it our way, and take our risks, and then we'll see where we end up."
"But-"
"Unless you want us to leave, of course." The Electorate threatened.
The King was finally quiet. "N-No." He said meekly. "Stay, please."
"Good," Electorate Kala said, walking towards the door. "Now, I have to oversee negotiations. And a PR crisis back on Earth."
-----
"Reports have surfaced that Quantum Team Research Laboratories were right about inter-dimensional travel. The alternate dimension requested military aid, which was given after a Code Red was called over the site. The TFSU responded, and currently a peacekeeping operation is going on inside this new world.
"Scientists from QTRL are already studying the laws of physics there. The Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, Quantum Team Disaster Prevention, and other humanitarian organizations are responding to the refugee crisis the alternate dimension has.
"I'm your host Alexa Crovez, signing off; more at six."
-----
"So," Electorate Kala said, "Let's start."
"You Otherworlders here are messing up the natural order of things!" Warmaster Franrok complained.
"True," Kala replied, "But I personally don't care.
"Let me lay it out for you." The Electorate said. "We have guns, your soldiers have bows. Your people have swords, we have more guns; You have siege towers, we have tanks. We also have air superiority over your dragons, orbital communications instead of waving flags on smoky battlefield, and who could forget more guns. And that's the stuff we brought with us.
"The only advantage you have is mages, and they don't do so well against things they don't know of. You have your back pressed against a wall; you need to keep advancing to feed your troops, but in order to do so you need to send them into a meat-grinder until the city is buried with bodies and we Humans are forced to retreat." Kala continued. "But that's expensive, and damages your conquest plans for... actually, that's a good question; Why are you doing this?"
"We are on this war of conquest to beat down the gates of Heaven and live in the light once more." Warmaster Franrok carefully replied.
"And to do so you have to kill an entire planet's surface, or... where even is this gate located anyway?" Kala asked.
"On top of the tallest mountain," The Warmaster recited "the anchoring point between the Heavens and the Mortal Plane."
"OK... are you sure the Heavens are going to be fine with it if you just barge in and start living in their house?" Kala was pretty sure this was just turning into a QnA session
"What the- Why do you even care?"
"Because," Kala said, "The TFSU is here on a peacekeeping mission. If we can get some confirmation that everything on Heaven's side is fine with them, then we're going to let you through as long as you don't kill anyone. I've only been here for a couple hours, but you can't just walk out of Heaven, can you?"
"I-Nobody knows, but it must be. Her Glorious Darkness said it would be!"
"Her glory- Why is she doing this? Overpopulation? Food shortages? Nobody just sends a billion soldiers to die." Kala sighed. "Right. Well, I'm going to lay your current options out on the table: You can turn around and we'll come back to whatever this mess is later, you submit your army as prisoners of war, or we resume the war. If you can think of another option that keeps the peace, I'm open to that, too."
Warmaster Franrok thought carefully. The last time the Humans had intervened, they had turned the tide with their war strategy; now, they had turned the tide with their own magics. Magics that worked in both worlds. So, if that was the case, he had no choice but to retreat or surrender. He would be killed by Her Glory if he surrendered, so he had to retreat, recuperate losses, and think up a new plan to get around. Maybe that youngling's suggestion to dig a tunnel to the gate wasn't such a bad idea after all.
-----
The command center had packed up and moved out of the city, while the rest of the army was either returning to the TFSU or making camp.
"Sir! We got an image of the mountaintop you requested." Someone walked up to the General. "The reports appear to be accurate. There is some kind of portal on the mountaintop."
The General took the paper. The scene that the satellite had captured looked absolutely beautiful, even from orbit.
Hold yourself, General, He thought to himself,
The last war of conquest - the last time we had enough land to hold a war of conquest - was hundreds of years ago. We are not the Romans, nor are we the Europeans; we are the Humans, and we need to act responsibly for once. I just hope enough other people share my sentiment. -----
They had retreated.
The land closest to the city was marred with the march of a billion soldiers, the villages destroyed, crops razed, forests beaten into submission. A path made of smoke and ash showed a nearly-direct line from The Borderlands to the capital of Rafalio, and beyond the city lay the mountain range the Daemons were so intent on reaching.
Still, forests burned as wildfires surrounded their march. The matte black armor each Daemon wore glowed red with runes as they retreated, those enchantments only enough to stop an arrow, but mass produced.
Ralkia watched the bane of the millennia disappear over the horizon, while most of the TFSU left. Some stayed, of course; the Daemons couldn't be trusted to hold their end of the bargain without a threat.
The bodies of the dead were piled up and dumped into mass graves instead of just being burnt, at the insistence of the TFSU. They had also released all of the surendees back to the Daemons, unable to house them. In the meantime, one of the slow flycraft began to head off to the mountain range, quickly becoming a prick before disappearing entirely, the sun setting to the West.
As Ralkia began to walk back to her slum, she stopped to pick up a slice of bread for dinner.
"Aye. Have it for free, kid." The dwarven shopkeeper said, "The city is saved, and they dinn't even take me stores for the army! Don't tell no one, though, or all them refugees are gonna want me bread too."
"Thank you," Ralkia said, taking the loaf and rushing to her slum. Climbing onto a boat docked for so long it had become part of the pier, she jumped across the river, climbed up a building, and settled into the attic. She set the bread in a container she had scavenged and cleaned earlier, and then had her slice.
"So, Ralkia, what do you think of the Humans?" Ralkion, her brother asked. He had a job stable enough to earn them food, but with the centuries-old housing crisis and the food shortages the invasion had cause, they were still living in the same attic years after they would normally have enough to move out.
"Hmm." Ralkia compiled everything she had seen of them and thought for a moment. "Their magic is special, those odd contraptions they use must exaggerate the charms they cast to make them work in their world. We have only really seen their military, though. We don't know much about their civilization."
"And?" Her brother prompted her. Women were not allowed to learn, but that didn't stop her brother from teaching her.
"They are quite different from the last time the Portal was opened. The Romans had their gods and their honor, but the TFS... U?' Ralkia questioned. "Yeah, TFSU. Anyway, they appear to be more about winning and minimizing the amount of collateral damage done. Their idea of honor is to keep it between the combatants, instead of following codes of combat. Their 'Geneva Convention' threat seemed to lean more in that direction, then, say, 'only bow can fight bow, and sword to sword,' as the Fourth Law Of Combat."
"That is an interesting take on things. Rumors are circulating about city-destroying weapons, but they're just that: Rumors." Ralkion replied. "I do hope we get to see their society sometime. We elves are... overpopulated in ours."
"Yeah," Ralkia agreed. "Why hasn't anyone done anything about that?"
-----
"So you're telling me that only the royal elves live to five hundred years. And that the rest have normal lifespans. And, like us, they breed like rabbits and have exhausted all their natural resources." Electorate Kala asked, summarizing the briefing she had been given.
"Yes."
"Well, that makes things easier. How did the expedition to the Underdark go?"
"Overpopulation runs rampant. The entire world appears to be having an ecological crisis. Like ours." The officer said.
"They have magic, though. Certaintly they can solve that!" Kala protested. The last thing she needed was to be pulled into the problems and politics of another world.
"They have not. The expedition to Heaven returned far more interesting results, though. They found a ruined magical spaceport."
Kala was silent. "A. What?"
The officer sighed. "A spaceport. It appears to be designed to restive magical ships from orbit only, leading to the conclusion that there probably is another station in orbit already. Our communication satellite has not detected any, but it is possible that the other station is also in geostationary orbit. Or it could be one of their moons, nobody is sure."
Kala thought for a moment. "We'll come back to that later. I have a public announcement to make, though."
The officer nodded and left the room, while Kala's assistant came in with a holopad. "Ready."
"Right then. Let's get this over with."
-----
"Today, Humanity came to the aid of a people in need - people in an alternate dimension. We saved millions of people from being massacred, and stopped a war. We forged an inter-dimensional alliance, and met the legends from Roman times.
"The details of what happened and what is happening will be released on the TFSU's official transparency website, along with the official report when it is completed. The gist of it is: Elves were being invaded, Elves opened a portal from Roman times, we helped Elves, we will continue to help elves.
"That isn't the only news for today. With the completion of the Hadron Collider Factory, we are able to produce Hard Light technology twelve orders of magnitude faster than before. Additionally, the Space Elevator's nanotubes have been finished, and the locking mechanism will be engaged later this weekend. It is a busy time for everyone, and it's a good thing we're going to be able to see the results of our collective efforts before the winter holidays.
"Today's daily update it getting long, but there's more. The TFSU is adopting a Switzerland Policy towards the alternate dimension, and this time we're going to avoid joining any organizations that can pull us into a war.
"And finally, Quantum Team Disaster Prevention, Doctors Without Borders, and the Red Cross are all giving aid to the alternate dimension of Etheria.
"That is today's update. Now, time to go deal with the legal repercussions of all this."
Tim turned off the TV. The TFSU had enough sense to quickly build a radio relay that broadcasted through the portal, and he had TV for the scant few hours he wasn't helping the Red Cross set up refugee tents. The military had gone as far as to start connecting the research site to a rail network to bring materials in faster.
Crawling into bed under a new set of stars, Tim promised himself to not let this new world get ruined like him own.

2023.03.28 21:27 jennamimi I (26F) am debating if I should cut off a friendship with my friend (24F)
I don’t have many friends and I’m starting to realize how much that sucks and at the age of 26 it’s hard to just start suddenly making friends. I met my one friend in college and I have to say that was the peak for us. Everything was fine, normal, perfect, it was a really good friendship.
Fast forward to now the friendship is starting to feel empty. Whenever I need her and I’m at my lowest she’s completely absent but when she needs me she expects me to be there and sadly I am. She has a toxic relationship with her boyfriend. The guy is horrible like real scum of the earth. He screams and curses at her, mentioned cheating on her during her birthday, they constantly argue, he insisted to her that she shouldn’t take birth control and she stupidly agreed. I can keep going the list is that long. She seems way more into him than he is towards her. Just from what she described I pick up that she’s more into him.
But whenever they have a problem she always calls me crying over what happened and I always try to help her through it. Of course all those times she has told me she’s done with him and the relationship is over it never seems to happen and nothing changes. Whenever I have my own set of issues and I call her, text her, send her a voice note she’s completely absent. There has been so many times I need her help or advice and she’s no where to be found. Sometimes when I tell her stuff over the phone and in need of advice she’s just like “oh ok”, “yeah”, “ok”, even when I tell her things she will be so quiet and say nothing. But when she has an issue with the boyfriend I’m always there to help her and give her advice. So it feels very one sided.
The other night she told me how the guy told her that he’s only into girls with curly hair and she’s going to make sure she always has curled hair. I said to her “what the hell are you doing?” and she was taken back. I told her this guy is horrible and she needs to stop letting him treat her like shit. I even told her whenever she mentions the guy or the good stuff he’s done I don’t feel happy for her because I know something bad will happen soon and when he does good it never seems to last. I said other things that I can’t remember and she went quiet fast. I noticed when I expressed how I felt she was noticeably unhappy. All she said at the end was “….wow ok”.
After that conversation shifted and we talked about other stuff. I was telling her about something my boyfriend is doing that I’m not too thrilled about. It’s nothing horrible just a little disagreement regarding him moving far away for grad school. I told her that and she told me that my boyfriend is “a red flag”. I was shocked and just said to her that the school he’s applying to has his program and there’s other schools near by he applied to. I told her it’s not my favorite option but I’ll compromise for him and he needs to reach his goals. She insisted that he’s a red flag and he’s only going to get away from me. I tried to defend my relationship but she then said that our boyfriends are basically the same and hold so many similarities. I told her that’s like comparing apples to oranges. She went on comparing them to being the same and when she noticed I didn’t say anything she said “you see it’s a hard pill to swallow isn’t it?”. I then told her this conversation is over. I really wanted to get up and walk out but we car pool together to the restaurant.
I just don’t know what to do anymore. I’m so sad over the way this friendship is going. I don’t know what happened to us. I don’t know why she’s so absent towards me and why she mistreats me. I don’t know what to do to fix or change any of this

2023.03.28 21:14 Ok_Gear_7448 wrote a travel guide for Charlotte in a friend's Confederate victory scenario, thoughts?
(Just so it's clear, this is not my scenario but this is my writing. A House Divided is a Confederate victory scenario created by a friend of mine and this writing takes place in it.)
the Belfast of the Confederacy, a guide to Charlotte for the New England Tourist
traveling up the Catawaba river to Charlotte, you arrive onto the bustling port of Riverview clogged with all the industrial produce held at this heartland of Confederate industry. overlooking the vast inland port sits a grand statue of King William the Third, four stories high riding triumphantly upon his white stallion as he pins the metallic flag of the Feinian brotherhood to the ground with his sword. the fact that the feinians and King William were about a century and a half apart is irrelevant to the statue's true intent revealed by the plaque on its base reading:
"in commemoration of the battle of the Boyne and every subsequent crushing of Papist tyranny and vice by the noble Anglo Saxon and Ulster Scot defenders of Protestant civilisation and liberty. God willing, we shall never surrender the hard fought legacy of our forefathers and we shall always defend our Faith, our liberty and our nation from any tyrant who seeks to subjugate us."
the statue itself was completed in 1890, unveiled to a huge Twelfth of July parade, it had been funded by a combination of local money and the Canadian Orange Order. the city has a grand total of 114 statues of King William and a staggering 86 Orange Lodges or one lodge for roughly every 2,300 residents. the Twelfth of July is a public holiday while Saint Patrick's day is illegal. curiously, though North Carolina and Charlotte remain segregated, the parades themselves remain racially integrated with both Black and White lodges marching one behind the other though not necessarily side by side however seating remains segregated. about one in every three white men and one in every two black men are members of the Orange Order.
though the Orange Order remains consistently backed by both the Black and White population, it is generally viewed fairly apathetically by the Chinese and Indian communities of the city. Charlotte's Chinese community of about 30,000 can be found in the city's China town of Tega Cay. originally the Chinese were brought into the Confederacy to serve as additional agricultural labour but with the mechanisation of the cotton plantations of the deep south many came to work in the newly emerging industrial cities of the CSA. Tega Cay lies architecturally distinct from the rest of the city, a little enclave of the Orient in the heart of the South. most of its residents work in the city's textile industry or the Coca Cola bottling plant also found in Tega Cay. the Robert E Lee lake constructed in 1906 provides a beautiful view for Tega Cay's many lakeside restaurants.
these restaurants are serviced by the Boyne line of the city's tram network, it runs along the lake and the river before turning East near the Latta plantation. following the line we pass the Palisades Country Club and park before coming up to the beautiful lakeside neighbourhoods of Steele Creek and Berry Hill, an elegant verdant suburb home to the idyllic Aughrim park. for those seeking to move to Charlotte, it lies an area ideal for the comforts of traditional plantation home with the convenience of Urban living being within arms length. several beautiful hotels are available for relatively cheaply along the lakeside. the area possesses a quick link to the city centre with the Braxton line connecting the west end of the city with the city centre with it departing at Davis station just off Frazier park.
the city centre lays home to the majority of the white population alongside the city's financial sector and in the eastern portions much of its industry. notable landmarks in the area include: the Saint Domingue monument commemorating the soldiers who fought to conquer the territory for the CSA; the Jefferson Davis opera house; the Rose Dale plantation; and finally the Double Oaks Orange Lodge, the single largest Orange Lodge in North Carolina. four of Charlotte's eight stadiums can be found here. three belong to the Charlotte Rangers while the other is a rugby stadium. Charlotte is unique in the CSA for being both more enthusiastic about football then rugby and none Latin influenced. this football tradition has mainly been imported from Scotland with Charlotte Rangers taking the place of the Glasgow Rangers and the Charlotte Braves taking the role of Glasgow Celtic however their support bases are divided by race rather than religion. these games while a significant local attraction have seen riots and are highly sectarian.
the city centre offers an excellent array of local cuisine and culture alongside importations from the British isle. just about any cuisine found within the first twelve (thirteen if you don't want to be shot at by locals) states of the Confederacy can be easily found. a curious creation of Charlotte has been "barbecue pubs", these establishments serve as a mix between a restaurant, traditional Southern bar and British pub. they will serve food typically barbecue hence the name while providing a wide variety of drink alongside providing comfortable lodging with many also featuring beer gardens. if one is uninclined to alcohol, there exist several tea and coffee houses. the city centre possesses many hotels for those seeking more convivence.
the train network of Charlotte primarily serves to transport goods within the city alongside transporting both goods and people out of the city. the role of transporting the people of Charleston is primarily performed by the recently expanded tram network. all public transport is segregated, as it has few non black minorities, North Carolina only segregates blacks from non black. the mixed race and pre abolition free blacks are incredibly rare in the state and are usually handled on a case by case basis. for those bringing such companions, it is advised sort these affairs out before making the trip. it is not uncommon that one will have to switch trams to deal with the segregation of public transport if going from the white areas of the city to the black areas of the city and vice versa.
for any travellers unfamiliar with the city, it should be noted that the Black areas of Charlotte while generally low in crime and fairly sanitary are generally to be avoided. these areas lie to the east of the Sugar Creek, East Way and Andrew Jackson roads. they are generally comprised of the city's vast automotive and textile works alongside the homes of the black residents of the city. it is connected to the city centre by three main tram lines namely the Orleans, Harpers and Powell lines, if one has to visit it is advised to go armed in case of issues. the area's housing is mainly comprised of brick Victorian houses modelled on those found in old England's Birmingham. its Orange Halls and Churches are the grandest non industrial buildings but they are generally smaller then those in the white areas of the city.
the Indian community of Charlotte numbering about fifteen thousand can be found in little India in the South East of the city in the Saris Forest neighbourhood and in the roughly one thousand Indian ran businesses scattered primarily across the Black areas of the city, these are mostly a mix of small grocery stores and Indian restaurants. the Indian community of the city are among the wealthiest Indians in the entire CSA as most are business owners in contrast to the vast majority of their compatriots who continue to be agricultural labourers in Walker, the Yucatan and Cuba.
the south of the city is generally comprised of quiet suburbs dotted by the occasional small business. it lies a quiet idyllic place but is largely devoid of significant tourist attractions. the most notable buildings are the occasional Orange Lodge or church. the rolling rural countryside of the Carolinas will eventually greet your view as you depart the city. a similar area can be found developing to the north as quaint suburbs follow the city's newly expanded tram network. it lays a unique city, a mirror image of the city only 150 miles to its south. it is definitely worth a visit for the curious traveller.

2023.03.28 21:13 whatsgoingon2216 Gambling addiction or Cheating?
I and my wife are middle aged. Have only been married for 4 years together for 5. Throughout the marriage there have been red flags. Withholding flight information. Lies about purchases. A great deal of lying about where they are or what she is doing. Lies and hidden spending. A secret bank account. A six month time where 200k just evaporated.
There was a time I thought it was cheating. Because of the red flags I became actively observant. To see what I could find out. This included tracking movements and some other investigative moves. I have found many lies and deceptions even found they had been very deceptive about their past. Which some of it has zero to do with me. Only when it involved direct lies or misrepresentation to my face have I considered the past problematic.
One of the reasons she gave me for her ending her first marriage was gambling. No hers but her spouse’s gambling. She was never anti gambling in fact she enjoys it and it is something we do sometimes together. About 2 years ago I noticed she was needing to gamble more. She began going to the casino while I was at work. We had a rule of how much money could be taken out for gambling and she seemed to be following it.
During the second and third year of our marriage she became very ill. Bed ridden often. No energy it took a long time to get the diagnosis and for the treatment to work. As her health improved she wanted to go gambling more often as a treat to herself as she was feeling better. More and more often this was just her without me. This is about the same time the money just started evaporating with no explanation. Due to some other problems she had been the one who was caring for the money I earn. I was not on the main bank account and so could not see the day to day balance and expenses. Less than a year ago after the 200k went awol I made changes that now allow me to see all transactions.
I work out of town 4 days a week and since the changes were made I noticed some more red flags. So I began active observation again. Again I have found no direct evidence of cheating. What I have found points to either cheating or a bad gambling addiction. Things like this. She tells me she is home working yet her car is at a private club that has slot machines. Or her telling me she went to see her parents but her car is at that club. Not answering text messages for hours then telling me she was asleep and me finding out she was out for the evening.
I am not sure what is going on. There is certainly something going on but I am not sure what it is. We had a discussion about gambling recently and she admitted she was having a problem with it. The reason I am not sure is there are a lot of factors involved that are cheating red flags. Yet she never ends up at houses she should not be or hotels or anything like that. Just the club. But she lies that she is only there one time a week but she is there 3 to 4 times a week for at least a couple of hours each time. She also is an extremely attractive woman who gets a lot of male attention. Lastly we have a dead bedroom.
Can cheating and gambling addiction mimic each other. Gambling can be treated but cheating is a no go for me and that would end out marriage. Just trying to find some clarity. Any advise is welcome.

2023.03.28 20:54 feenanay0819 [WTS] TRM Atom / Demko AD20.5 Smooth Ti 3V / Shaman CTS-204P w Flytanium CF Scales / Bugout w Flytanium "Europa" Crossfade Ti Scales
Timestamp:
https://imgur.com/a/y9lRHdu I'm the original and only owner of all of these knives, which have been carried and lightly used (but not abused) by me. All have been sharpened by me with either a TSProf Kadet (TRM Atom and Bugout) that I since sold or a Work Sharp Precision Adjust Elite (Shaman and Demko AD20.5). The Atom and Bugout have more refined edges, as I worked through a whole progression of Venev Orion stones. The Shaman and AD20.5 are a bit 'cruder', but still sharp. All the knives for sale include their original boxes.
TRM Atom - 20CV blade / OEM "Gray Ghost" contoured 3D Tek-Wood scales Photos:
https://imgur.com/a/fqLRdse This is probably the toughest of these four knives to part with. I've had this Atom for some time now and have switched out scales more than a few times. It turned out that the Gray Ghost contoured 3D Tek-Wood scales were the perfect ones for me, with a little kick of laminated color on sides and cut-out, to boot. Nothing much to say about the Atom that hasn't already been said, so I guess I won't.....
**asking $210*\*
Demko AD20.5 - 3V blade / smooth Ti scales Photos:
https://imgur.com/a/WrnNlTL Insanely great action on this one, and of course, lockup is rock solid. As I mentioned earlier, my use of the Work Sharp Precision Adjust Elite sharpener didn't exactly produce an aesthetic marvel on the edge, but it is sharp.
**asking $240*\*
Benchmade Bugout (535-3) - S90V blade / Flytanium "Europa" blue-green Crossfade Ti scales Photos:
https://imgur.com/a/UFzBPZk The aftermarket Flytanium "Europa" Crossfade scales bring the Bugout to a new level, and actually the original Benchmade carbon fiber scales were really good! (Please note that I sold the OEM carbon fiber scales separately).
**asking $300*\*
Spyderco Shaman - CTS-204P blade / Flytanium carbon fiber scales Photos:
https://imgur.com/a/sVwYlRb Another great knife improved by some excellent aftermarket scales. In this case, though, I do have the original forest green G10 scales, which will be included with sale. Also, a note on the blade finish/edge here.....this was the first knife I sharpened on the Work Sharp Precision and the 200 rough grit hadn't quite 'worn in' yet, so there's a few small scratches near the edge bevel, including my mostly successful attempt to create a small sharpening choil.
**asking $250*\*
Asking prices are
PayPal G&S, with shipping by USPS Priority Mail from St Louis. I'll gladly do discounts for bundling two or more knives.
What else? Oh yeah....
since this painful reduction of my already relatively small folding knife collection is all about funding an upcoming hiking trip to Glacier National Park,** I'm not looking for trades.*\*
Thanks for checking this out.

2023.03.28 19:12 yana_yt My (20M) GF (22F) thinks I cheated on her but I didn’t and I’m struggling to find ways to prove it
We’ve been together for almost 2 years at this point and I would describe nearly every aspect of our relationship as perfect. The only thing I would change is that we’ve been long distance basically the entire time, but she treats me incredibly well and I wouldn’t trade it for a thing in the world. This all started a little under a week ago when I got a message on instagram from somebody claiming they “had information that would take down my career.” The account was clearly a bot and I thought it was funny so I just didn’t respond and moved on with my day. The issue comes a little later when this person creates a group chat with a bunch of my female friends (I presume found by just going through followers or something) and sends nude photos of me from a couple of years ago. In a state of panic, I did the dumbest thing possible and actually sent some money (I know, you don’t need to tell me I’m an idiot), but obviously the photos stayed up. One of the people in this chat was my girlfriend, so obviously I called her first thing and explained to her the whole situation. She would never have seen this had I not brought it up since I know she doesn’t check her message requests, so I could’ve waited a week until I see her, delete it from her phone and she would never have known, but I felt like she deserved to know. I told her they were from before we started dating, she believed me, and we moved on (or so I thought). I also told her she probably wouldn’t wanna look at them, but obviously she could if she really wanted to, since obviously nobody really wants to see their partner sexting somebody else. The problem arose when she looked at the photos and immediately texted me saying we’re done. I called her and we talked for a few hours running through the whole story. We started hooking up about half way through my senior year of high school while she was at university. I obviously loved spending time with this girl but I never even considered anything romantic happening between us since the timing just wouldn’t make sense, so when she went home for the summer I started talking to a couple other people to try and move past her. It didn’t feel right to me since I wasn’t ready yet so I stopped shortly after (I never acted on anything) and luckily about a month later we started dating. I had never told her about this since I figured she didn’t wanna know and frankly I didn’t think it would ever come up (I know that’s bad to say but still). The main reason she was so suspicious was that in the photos I’m using an iPhone, and for about the first 6 months of our relationship I used an android. I completely understand why that is a MASSIVE red flag and I would be extremely scared in her position too. Luckily I was able to find the photos in my camera roll, so I sent her a screenshot with the date included and I thought that was the end of my problems. I deleted all the photos since obviously I didn’t think it was fair to her to have them there and had I known they were there they’d have already been deleted. Unfortunately, she texted me a day or two later saying that she found out you can edit the date and time of a photo on iPhone, which was news to me. She asked for the original picture, which I’m not really sure how that would solve anything but I was still happy to do if it would help her feel more reassured, but like I said I had already deleted it. This made her even more suspicious, understandably so, but I deleted it since I didn’t think I needed it and I feel as if I had already found pieces of evidence that were far more concrete. First, my ears are not pierced in the photo. I got them pierced with her a couple weeks into dating and you can clearly see that they are not pierced. You can use a different phone, you can’t unpierce an ear. Secondly, I borrowed the phone for a weekend from a classmate of mine who’s dad worked for some tech firm (I have no idea which one) and therefore they got to test out beta/demo versions of products and accessories a few months early. I had been thinking about what my next phone was going to be so I wanted to see if I had any interest in switching back to iPhone. I have a screenshot of a text conversation between us in which he says he doesn’t have access to anything but he does remember lending me the phone to test out. I thought I looked good (and android picture quality is terrible on snapchat) so I took a couple pictures and saved them just in case. I know, it’s really fucking stupid, but it’s what I did. She’s still skeptical and I really want to know if there’s any more conclusive evidence I can find to save this relationship. I think that partially comes from the really shitty circumstances, and also partially from trust issues and insecurities from scumbags in her past, so she may feel like what she has is too good to be true and that she doesn’t deserve it so she will try and find problems to protect herself, which of course I’m sympathetic to. Like I said I love this woman to death and I can’t lose her (Ik I’m corny but that’s just how I feel.) I’m hoping that when we get to see each other next week and hug and look into each other’s eyes she will trust me, because like I have told her time and time again, I have always considered cheating (emotionally or physically) to be one of the most despicable acts you can commit and I could never bring myself to do that to her. She has treated me so fucking well and I wouldn’t throw that away for anything in the world, especially not some stupid snapchat exchange. She has every right to feel hurt and I understand this won’t be resolved immediately, but will instead take time to heal regardless, but that’s work I’m willing to do a million times over and I genuinely believe this will someday be something that tested us and made us a stronger couple. I also have addressed her concern over her friends and family, stating that of course I will do the work to earn their trust and admiration back too, since I have always deeply valued my relationships with them and view them as a part of my life forever just the same way I do with her (Ik I’m young and you can call me crazy but that’s how I feel.) I have promised her that going forwards there will never be a situation like this again, as I will be much more of an open book. Additionally, I have promised her over and over again that I would never even dream of being unfaithful to her, pointing to acts of love and dedication to prove that. I’m hoping this reassurance helps her at least somewhat. It pains me to my core knowing how much I have hurt her and I will stop at nothing to make it up to her, but I need to earn her trust first in order to get the opportunity to do that. If you can think of any way I can do that better than I have, please let me know, I’m desperate lol. Sorry this is an essay but I felt I needed to explain the situation properly. Thank you ♥️

2023.03.28 19:03 GreyRaven- Is there truth in the being attached to unavailable people saying?
I’m nearly 23m, I don’t really have an interest in having a relationship. I use to be a pretty depressed and emotional person and now I’m not really, probably more stoic than anything now
In august I randomly talked to a girl from Canada, I live in Ireland. We talked for a bit and she told me she was actually coming to Ireland in the next 2 weeks, so we FaceTimed everyday 7 hours plus, was a bit much, but I didn’t mind
Basically we both told each other personal stuff, stuff that I wouldn’t share with anyone else
I was excited and driven about the whole thing, we actually met in Ireland two weeks later and spent 2 days together, was cool, a lot of red flags but for some reason I ignored them, it didn’t work out anyways
I felt for once a purpose and excitement at meeting someone, however I don’t feel that way if I was to meet someone local, don’t really have the drive to, I wouldn’t spend all night on FaceTime with them either or tell them personal things
Anyone else understand me?
