2023.06.03 07:42 Brymicp Potential Commute from JC to Perth Amoby - Reasonable?
I'm in the process of potentially locating to the NYC area from the west coast. My potential employer would be in Perth Amboy, I'm willing to deal with a commute within reason to live in a desirable locale. Would a weekday commute from Jersey City to Perth Amboy be realistic and not too painful?

2023.06.03 07:14 Brymicp Potential Commute From Hoboken?
I'm looking at a potential job offer coming from the west coast. I've begun scoping out potential areas to live outside NYC, the potential job itself is in Perth Amboy. So far, I've seen some things about Hoboken that intrigue me. Is commuting during the work week from Hoboken to Perth Amboy realistic? Any input or thoughts are much appreciated.

2023.06.03 01:36 wbradford00 Jeep WJ rumble when braking
Hello all. Had a hot day here in NJ, and i just came across a random issue with my 04 WJ. I was coming down a slight grade and i began to hear a low rumbling noise, then noticed that it felt like i was being engine braked despite not being in a low gear or being on the brake pedal. I pulled over immediately, and didn't notice any signs of, well, anything. I decided I could limp home (less than a mile) and noted that, when braking, the noise would get louder, and was only there when rolling. Is it safe to say that I have a stuck caliper? I think my front right wheel was pretty hot, but im not sure if that was just because of the weather or what. Thanks for any tips

2023.06.02 16:48 Brymicp Living In New Rochelle & Commuting?
I'm potentially looking at a job opportunity outside NYC, in Perth Amboy to be exact. I've started to scope out several potential areas to live in and I've read some good things about New Rochelle. I'm wondering, is living in New Rochelle and commuting to Perth Amboy realistic? I've looked at the distance but that doesn't give much context. Any input would be great.

2023.06.02 08:33 Brymicp Employment Opportunity in Perth Amboy, Looking for Liveable NYC Suburbs
I'm on the verge of relocating from Southern California for a job opportunity in Perth Amboy. Only having been to the NYC Metro twice before and not being well acclimated with the region, what are some reasonable suburbs for a single guy with no family with a reasonable commute into Perth Amboy, while still getting to enjoy the benefit of living within shouting distance of NYC? Appreciate everyone's input.

2023.06.01 14:47 ShingekiTitan Do you guys recommend moving to Columbus, Ohio from NJ
My info 1. Spouse - stay at home mom for now and might find a job later for may be 100-150k 2. One 3month old daughter and 2 year old mini aussie dog 3. Planning for 1 more kid after 3-4 years. 4. Income - 300k from software job and no other income 5. NW - 200k (non retirement) and 200k retirement 6. H1-B for life as I am Indian and will stay in USA till kicked out, I will wait for my 3 month old US citizen daughter to grow up and sponser me. 7. No property in USA but I got some ancestral non income generating homes in India.
Probs with NJ I don't want to pay like 700k or 800k for a home which I am don't like or barely like and 6.5-7 % interest for 30 years(may be less rate in future) and high property taxes to go to public schools while I want private schools (for political reasons and my preference on schools). NJ New homes is only for families with close to a million dollars in bank for a cash offer or for families earning 500k+ yearly income to easily afford 160k down payment with good backup cash and 5-8k monthly payment on property which I am neither. I think I can only do either a small, old, ugly or far away home in NJ for 600k or less which I don't want.
Pros of Columbus I can get a big good looking home for less amount with low property taxes. The home will look better than any other friend's home I had seen in NJ with similar income. Decent private schools for 8-15k per year. (Just need to keep my remote job and future job changes might be hard, also social life needs to be restarted).
Requirements
- City with good safety where my wife/daughter can walk at night
- City where I can afford private schools for 10-15k per year
- City with somewhat less state income tax and less property tax
- City where I can buy a big home 2k -3k square feet with 4-5 bedroom and 3 bathrooms and backyard for my dog to play for a total price of 600k or less, preferably 400-500k.
- I love the cold NJ/NY weather, my favorite outside is 50-60f (I can live with 40f but hard to tolerate 70f + ) and I can't stand the heat as I came from super hot Indian city.
- I would like free space of 0.5 -2 acres around but not a requirement
- I would like a single floor home so that I don't need to keep climbing up.
- I work in software but permanent remote job. If there are some software in person jobs in the city it would be good as I can get the in person job if I am fired from remote job.
- I mostly stay at home but I want some accessibility for music classes, self defense classes, gym, warehouse clubs,

2023.05.31 18:05 Ruler_J What would a potential Australian tour look like? What do you think it SHOULD look like?
Hi Tokkis! This is my first post on this sub. I feel sad. Part of what drove me to write this post is the fact that recently, two groups, Enhypen and (G)I-DLE, announced their world tour dates. But none of them feature Australian cities. So I thought to myself, surely ADOR won't let us down, right? An eventual Australian tour has been practically handed to them on a silver platter. So I ask you, what do you think a future Australian tour would and should look like, your expectations and the likely reality?
First off, I think that a spring tour would be best, so anywhere between late September to early November. They would avoid the bitterly cold winter, but also they would not have to deal with the draining heat of summer. Also I personally think spring has the most pleasant weather.
Now, probably the most important part: which cities should they visit? In my opinion, I think they should visit these cities, in this order: Perth - Adelaide - Melbourne - Sydney - Newcastle - Brisbane. This way, all the major cities get a fair go, whilst also maximizing the sentimental value. I also wish that they could spend a bit of time exploring each stop of their tour.
As for the optimistic reality, they pull a TWICE and only visit Sydney and Melbourne. The pessimistic reality, is that they do a full-scale US, Asia and Europe tour and just forget Australia's existence. To the Aussies reading this, 2024 WILL be our year. Hope you had as much fun imagining these scenarios as I had writing them out!

2023.05.31 17:13 JW9403 Home Depot WeatherShield Board vs Local Pressure Treated?
Hey guys
Looking to build some wood fences at my backyard. I live in the NY/NJ region and Id like to source some pressure treated lumber. I need 5/4 deck boards for my system and Im stuck between either using Home Depot's WeatherShield decking board or Pressure treated boards from a local supplier (Kuiken Brothers). They call their SYP (Southern Yellow Pine?) Pressure Treated Select Premium.
I know theres bunch of memes and jokes/stories about how people stay away from HD lumber because they dont want to deal with getting boards that look like curly fries, but the price from HD is arguably 20% cheaper than the local supplier surprisingly so Im trying to weigh out my options.
Additionally, if I were to buy this, Id be buying it online and by the 100s so im not sure how much this would influence the quality/buy. If anyone has any input on this that can help me determine which material to go with that would be great

We are a Trials Teaching guild, with a touch of Trading. Established in 2016, we currently run Trials 5 days a week, 3 Norm/Crag Vets, and prog team Saturday and Tuesday, all run times are 8 pm est. As a guild, we have cleared Vaa hm, Vso hm, Vss, Vka, Vcr. We are currently working Vmol, and vcr 1. We are looking for noobs, mid level players, and somw veterans that dont mind helping out, (without tryna take over).
Our Trials Discord is open, you dont have to join the guild to run, but we sure would like you to give us a try. FORWARNING: We are not for everyone lol Most of us are 30+ yrs old, and have responsibilities.
We have a fairly consistent Trader in Busy Belkarth, Craglorn! To keep up with this we do ask that you donate at LEAST 1k in Gold OR Materials for Trader access, and Bank access. Dont wanna pay? No problem, you can stay in the guild at Social Rank, free of charge.
We run 4 raffles, the Guild 50/50, a 5000 Crown raffle, a One and Done raffle (Only one entry per player, everyone has equal chance to win), and the Public Auction 50/50.
We also Run Public Auctions biweekly, and your Auction donations, weather Gold or Mats, can be put towards ANY raffle, dues, and/or I will also buy your mats with GOLD, if you need coin.

2023.05.30 16:57 PassiveUser0234 Which US state is better for retirees with high income?
We currently live in NJ and are considering retirement soon at the age of 55. We expect to have approx 500k annual income after retirement and it will likely grow significantly once we hit the RMD age for our 401k accounts.
Which US states are better for tax purposes (and good weather year round) to retire in this scenario?
Thank you.

2023.05.30 04:14 jcubwf56 2017 hardtop jcw clutch sticking
Apologizes if this has been discussed, I searched and couldn’t mind much info. The clutch pedal in my JCW occasionally sticks to the floor for a half second or so. Usually after hard driving. It’s happened maybe a dozen times over the past couple months, pretty infrequent. At first I thought it was getting hung up on the floor mat for just a moment but that wasn’t it. I’m not the most mechanically inclined, but I’m wondering if it could be something to do with transmission fluid? I’ve owned the car since October in NJ so I’m only just starting to see how the car deals in warmer weather. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

2023.05.30 03:33 abeecrombie Best cities to live in for youngish modern Orthodox
We all know that living in major Jewish areas is expensive. With remote work more a thing I feel like some ppl can be more choosy in terms of the cities they choose to live in. However if you want to keep kosher, attend shul and send your kids to Hebrew school you need to live in a Jewish community. But maybe now not that same community you work in.
I'm curious what people think is the best place to live, assuming you are a youngish mo family. Affordability is high on my list but so is community and weather ( sorry Montreal and Chicago your winters are way too cold ). I've heard of a few ppl moving to Cleveland and Cincinnati Ohio as they are more affordable than NY / NJ / LA / Miami which have a big community but are very expensive. Isreal is a dream but also very unaffordable.
In my short list I have Atlanta, though it's not as cheap as it was a few years ago, South Carolina ( Jewish community is too small I think) and Texas.
Would love to hear about US cities but thoughts about other places across the globe are welcome. If Australia or Canada was affordable who knows.
