2023.05.26 00:49 Tipopotamus Recommend novels that were terrible (when fantranslated) but are amazing in their official EN releases?
Fantranslations - even when of decent quality can often ruin a series through poor flow or similar mistakes. Now a lot more series are getting official releases I'm finding old series I dropped as pretty meh can actually be quite decent.
Let This Grieving Soul Retire or Strange Grief Wants to Retire is one recent example of this where I tried and dropped the series 2-3 years ago but the official version released a few weeks back by jnovel is so much better.
Can anyone recommend other similar series that are great and have been re-translated after initial lackluster translations? Things that deserve a second shot?

2023.05.21 08:03 guardian_vamer Anyone else's Eris Figma have a long neck?
| I received a figma model of Eris today and immediately noticed the neck seemed longer than it should be. Everything else seemed fine and nothing else makes me believe it could be a knock off. Has anyone else had this issue with a figma? submitted by guardian_vamer to mushokutensei [link] [comments] |

2023.05.08 19:16 Sargonai Deathbound duke's daughter
So deathbound duke's daughter is on jnovels catchup this month. And so I read it. And I loved it. But there are only two books out and it doesn't seem like any more will be released anytime soon. But apparently the webnovel is either finished or nearly finished? Is there anywhere I read the translated webnovel? I can't read a single word of japanese.
Are there any new updates regarding the series? Thanks!

It's literally the only thing I read on JNovel atm, so for me no.
Curious how common this is?

I am trying to read the light novel on jnovels but they only have up to volume 22. So would it be ok for me to read up to vol 22 and then read the web novel version for vol 23 and 24. Also what is vol 20.5 for the web novel.

2023.04.19 04:56 i1a2 EPUB download for light novels on occult-research.club not working - Alternative source?
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but the reading guide in this subreddit pointed to that website for reading the light novels. The EPUB download isn't working, although the PDF download is working just fine. I'd prefer to read on my e-reader and it doesn't handle PDFs very well unfortunately. I saw that a site called jnovels may have it, but I'm not sure how safe it is. Thanks for any help in advance!

2023.04.15 00:32 dhekranh Questions about ebooks and stores
Hello there. This is my first post.
It's been awhile since I last bought a light novel. Back then they were starting to publish them translated to english officially, and I got a bunch of e-books in Amazon. Anyways, lately I started to read a bunch that I had kept as a backlog, and I want to buy the releases I missed of those series. However, I remember that, around the time I stopped buying, there was some controversy regarding Amazon and other digital distributors having images removed and other censorship added to the books, for some reason. Checking now in jNovel club, they still have a legend that says "Availability on Amazon subject to unpredictable moderation policies." So I have some questions:
- Is this the case only with Amazon?
- If not, what other stores apply this kind of moderation?
- Are my old books retroactively affected? (since they're from amazon & had no censorship before)
- What's the best way to buy translated light novel e-books nowadays?
Thank you in advance for your help~

2023.04.15 00:24 Electric-fuel297 Please help, I’m trying to get into Zaregotobut seem to be having trouble
All the websites that it leads me to are Swaytranslation which has the last 6 volumes but the first 3 or 4 are “official” meaning it costs money is there a way to read for free or nah? There’s also Jnovels but every time I tried it would lead me to this link for the download which seems like it would give me a virus idk🤷♂️

2023.04.06 22:16 Drazev Well, I finally did it. I switched from Amazon -> JNovel app…
I wasn’t sure about it at first and decided on a whim I would buy P5 V4 (which I originally pre-ordered on Amazon) on J-Novel club app instead. Turns out its a bit cheaper than amazon and the app’s pretty decent. The reading pane defaults were a bit small than I thought was necessary but it was easy to customize and now it works just like the amazon app I’m used to.
I have not decided to do subscriptions yet because i figure to make it worthwhile I need to become invested in at least one more series. I want to own the books so I have purchased them allowing me to read its pre-pub. I did this because it’s my understanding I can download it as an epub after release though it would be good if someone can confirm that before I go much further.
I guess if I decided to go all out and sub I would be able to buy the next volume and then one other book with the coins you get every month.
What’s everyone else’s experience who has made the switch? I’m not all in yet and I could easily go back. I just figure since I do love this series I’ll be buying it for years and might as well get something to look forward to ever week. When I wait for the release I just end up binging it in a day then getting depressed afterwards lol.

I'm looking for .epubs of the light novel. I managed to grab the first volume off of jnovels but every link after that sends me somewhere shady and wants to download stuff to my phone.
Does anyone got a reputable site?

2023.03.21 09:07 Legitimate_Drop8793 How good is Seventh/Sevens fan translations compared to the JNovel official translations.?
So, i started Sevens JNovel official translation version but currently the Jnovel ver only have 2 translated volumes while the fan translated ver is already completed. Some fan translated LN are just painful to read with broken grammars everywhere and questionable translations, is the fan translated ver for Sevens good compared to the official?

2023.02.18 04:00 oldschoolawesome Question about jnovel
I just read a series that's on catch-up, and I'm wondering whether catch up is generally used just before a release of a new volume. The series in specific I'm referring to is "The lady in waiting is wanted as a bride", in which four volumes are released on catchup, but I can't seem to find if a volume 5 is coming up. I'm fairly new to jnovel and this is my first time reading a series that is on catch-up rather than ongoing. Thanks!
