Intro
To preface this review, I just need to say that this is going to be a very, long read. Going through it myself just for the fun of it takes around 30 minutes — it's almost 7k words of text, including lyrical references. So for the best experience, listen to the album beforehand to understand what the hell I was thinking when I wrote this review, play the album while reading, and set a good amount of time aside.
And yes, this is 9 months late 😭 I'm not sorry — when I find an album review online it's always around a paragraph per song or even shorter. It makes sense from a journalistic perspective, but I want to do this album justice, hence taking 7 months to write out all my thoughts.
This shit is comprehensive and definitely overanalyzed, especially in
Talk that Talk and
Trouble. Each song review will compose of my commentary going over the song, noting the details I noticed through months of listening, then a conclusion. Also, mild swearing warning, I like implementing a touch of "French" when I'm very
emotional about something. Anyway, onto the review!

TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT TELL ME WHAT YOU NEED
Talk that Talk 🎙
Lead producer: collapsedone
One of the most perfect TWICE songs.
I think this is one of TWICE’s best-sounding title tracks. Warm modulated synths, a thrumming bass line, distant bells, shimmering synths — the purpose of this song is to be fun and my god is it excellent at it, like… Sana and Chaeyoung are saying knock-knock-knock and beep-beep-beep as if they’re some kind of car. So much fun.
Further along in the verse, Dahyun’s voice sounds so full and smooth with that layered harmony. Tzuyu coming with the
Yes or Yes,
Push & Pull, and
1 to 10 references — these are 5 years of song references. And Jeongyeon closes the pre-chorus accompanied by a rising synth to drop into chorus one. Jeongyeon slays pre-choruses.
The drums accelerate, the synths start blasting, and Jihyo opens to that party of a chorus with her godly vocals,
Tell me what you want
Tell me what you need
A to Z da malhaebwa
But shijageun ireoke have
Talk that talk ttak han madi
Talk that talk L-O-V-E
deullyeojweo ooh
Now now now now now yeah~
During Sana's
Talk that Talk~ lines there’s this gentle ascending synth bell that rings with the descending melody and it sounds absolutely gorgeous. And the choreography during that part of the chorus is so so so so fun: the talking hands bit, spelling
L-O-V-E, concluding with the
deullyeojweo ooh! Oh my Jihyo the
deullyeojweo ooh…
Have I mentioned this song is fun?
Speeding through verse 2; Chaeyoung’s part with the cat ears popping in the music video is adorable; Momo her stretching her arms out looks so damn cool; and Dahyun with her replay part sounds so lovely — although I think it sonically sounds a touch random, it makes sense thematically.
And now for this pre-chorus. Mina and Jihyo leading into it sound great BUT JEONGYEON… Now, she is my ult bias, and this pre-chorus sounds almost identical to the first one, but the way she holds that final note, enunciating and holding that
now~ for one more beat before the chorus drops sounds so perfect — the song teeters on a cliff edge. Jeongyeon slays pre-choruses.
Dropping into the second chorus and man, Jihyo powered through that first chorus, but the way Nayeon delivers it just hits different. She has this indescribable “pop” voice (I promise this wasn't on purpose) that stands out and shouts
this is THE chorus. I think this is especially apparent in how both lead their choruses where Jihyo starts at 120% power while Nayeon waits until [
Tell me]
WHAT YOU WANT to full-send it. She also highlights “
malhaebwa” in a similar way later in the chorus.
Another
deullyeojweo ooh! Nayeon travels to Narnia, and Mina the engineer strikes again in this heavenly, underwater-esque bridge,
The simple words “I love you”
That’s all I wanna hear
Without hesitation, I’ll go up to you
I’ll make it simple
And just tell you I love you
The word “
love” is said for the first time in the song. There’s a funky keyboard instrument behind Chaeyoung’s part. Jihyo, Chaeyoung, and Nayeon take the initiative in their lyrics, professing their love before closing the bridge.
And now for the pièce-de-résistance: this final double chorus is exceptional — 40 seconds of crack-laced euphoria; Jihyo switches up the chorus and the choreo, Dahyun chimes in with her fluttery “
Talk that Talk”, Momo comes out of nowhere with “
oh yeah it sounds so good!” — you’re damn right it does, and this is where the song SOARS.
han beon deo~ haejweo
geurae banggeum geu mal~
Nayeon outright shouts “
Tell me what you need” and then Jeongyeon sings the above lines in such an ethereal, warm way where the first line ascends while the second line descends, causing a lull in the song before the finale with Nayeon, finishing off the song with the final
deullyeojweo ooh! What a party. What a song.
THE GOOD
- The synths of all time
- The chimes during Talk-that-talk~
- Jeongyeon’s pre-chorus going into Nayeon’s chorus
- The entirety of that magical, final chorus and outro
Needs Work
- The opening hook (Tell me what you want) and accompanying choreography could be “catchier”
Core Memory
- Singing (and dancing) my heart out when this song played at a K-pop club
Lyrics and theme-wise, if this were to have been TWICE’s last comeback, they’ve once again built upon the theme they've been doing since debut: a Bildungsroman, a coming-of-age story.
This song’s chorus is honest yet simple; it asks the listener, in this case, the other half of the relationship, to be more upfront and open with their love (never be scared of love), that before the relationship can continue and flourish there has to be a foundation and commitment of love between each other.
TWICE debuted with a song about making your crush go
ooh ahh. Years later, they started pondering “
What is love?” and imagining their crush responding with “
yes” when asking them out — and now concluding with the phrase “
Talk that talk, [talk that] L-O-V-E”, being upfront with the relationship, wishing their partner to also be happy, to commit to them, to feel the love that they want to impart on them. From gawking like ooh-ahh to talking out your shared love like adults — to having a true relationship between (one and) two.
And can I just say before finishing off
Talk that Talk's review that this is such a fun and repeatable song with many little intricacies hidden in the nonet’s vocals and the production. This is the third draft I’m writing about
Talk that Talk and its original word count pretty much quadrupled.
Harkening back to TWICE’s roots by combining mature thinking with youthful character, an incredible ending to look forward to, and just simply being a club-banger that’s easy to listen to,
TTT is an easy 10/10.
WATCH ME GO WATCH ME GO RULE THE WORLD
Queen of Hearts 👑
Lead producer: LDN Noise of SM
If there was one B-side to promote in a live clip, this was a solid choice.
Helmed by LDN Noise going headlong into the Western boy-group rock-band aesthetic, Queen of Hearts is a boom-boom-clap song through and through. The drums are very prominent throughout the song, only giving room to riffs of electric guitar in the chorus to drive and continue the momentum of the music.
And speaking of the chorus, vocal line each got a chorus to flex and they did not fuck around,
You ain’t ready for it
Watch me go~ watch me go~
Rule the world
Know you never doubted baby
I’mma go run the whole universe~
Cymbals crashing, drums booming, and 3MIX belting all just so sound so good.
Baby I was born to rule~~
Yeah I’m the queen, I’m the queen
And it’s all because of you~~
That I’m the Queen of Hearts
These long, held-out notes performed by Jihyo and Nayeon are simply exquisite. Along with the shredding guitar, the drum set coming in full, and the interludes by Dahyun, Momo, and Chaeyoung, this is the part of the song that always,
always, gives me goosebumps — it sounds so visceral, so energetic, so fun, so triumphant. Boom-boom-clap songs can be hit or miss with people, but there's no denying the payoff from the first part of the chorus to the second part is worth the wait.
The theme of the song so far has been kind of spread around the song. The chorus alludes to it with the line "
And it’s all because of you." But Mina shows more sides of it in the second verse, especially with the phrase,
And now that I’m surrounded by all my girls
We be shining bright like diamonds and pearls
It sounds really lovely — in a very cheesy and affectionate kind of way, as it rightfully should — the song is about the girls and their fans. But the bridge is where the song indeed shows its colours
Screaming out my name
See it in the stage lights
Feel so lucky just to have ya
Cause I know deep down I was meant for something bigger! Greater!
I know you’re seeing what I see
Yeah I’ll be everything you need
I know I’m gonna walk the walk
And talk the talk to be~ [the Queen of Hearts]
This is a song CONCEIVED TO BE PERFORMED FOR THE FANS. It’s meant to be loud. It’s meant to be unapologetic. It’s meant to be sappy. And it’s all the more wonderful for it.
This is the TWICEiest shit ever.
Like
Talk that Talk, Queen of Hearts also has a killer closer. The production already started to grow from the bridge, but now the guitarist finally went Super Saiyan and instead of supporting the drums, they both take the centrepiece in tandem.
Then finally, the closing moments of the song even manage to squeeze in some more sappiness.
So thank you for the memories
You’re all the ones who made me~
So thank you for the memories
That I’m the Queen of Hearts
I still can’t believe that this banger is a FAN SONG out of all things. Truly, the TWICEiest shit ever.
THE GOOD
- Adorable fucking lyrics
- Unrelenting, roaring chorus
- English and vocal flex
- Addicting guitar riffs
Needs Work
- Chaeyoung rapping in English in their Korean songs somehow slaps harder than her English rapping in their English songs, nonetheless, in QoH, it fits with the sound of the song
Life Highlight
- Walking home from a K-pop festival with this song playing, felt like a Queen of Hearts
I love these types of rock songs with how grunge and head-bang-able they are, there is just a certain nostalgic and cheesy quality to them that feels so cozy. I don’t love putting them on repeat, because in this case, I do believe there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Perhaps more shredding, maybe a guitar solo to rock out to, or an accompaniment(!) of ad-libs from 3MIX to support Jihyo’s final chorus? A ONCE can dream of a truly bombastic rock song from TWICE. But then again that distracts from the core of what this song is: a fan song disguised as a rock song.
Queen of Hearts has so much sweetness in its lyrics and message that it's overflowing. The drums, guitar, and vocals can be as loud and intricate as they can, but the theme of this song is what makes it special from TWICE’s other rock songs — it’s a 9/10 for me.
I WANNA WANNA WANNA TAKE YOU TO THE BASICS
Basics 🌈
Sole lyricist credit: Chaeyoung
Quite possibly the jammiest (pun intended) song of the album.
A song written by the Strawberry Princess herself — an event similar in frequency to other artists' releases with her last song being 2020’s silky
Handle It —
Basics first starts with an understated and dreamy delivery. After the first stanza, however, a bouncy Miami bass line emerges, revealing the true nature of the song: this is a classic summer bop! Especially in the first rap,
dareun aedeulgwaneun dalla
Ain’t beggin’ for love
nappeun geon anijana ige naraseo
eodiro twilji molla
Like rainbow bubble gum
geureoni nal kkwak butjabadweo
Syllables are pronounced in a relaxed nature, bars often starting with an "
ah" sound, flirty lines in English — this rap features a production full of pop with R&B flourishes and, in my opinion, this is Chaeyoung’s bag. Also, the line "
rainbow bubblegum" is so adorable and so Chaeyoung.
I wanna wanna wanna take it to the basics
da weonhae weonhae weonhae? seodureuji ma Baby
ppeonhae ppeonhae malhae mweohae da al tende
Ah yeah ah yeah ah yeah ah yeah
That chorus is pure pop with a Miami bass backing; you better be bopping your head to the melody, if not booty poppin' to the bassline. Chaeyoung loves rhyming in the first half of the chorus to enhance its catchiness and it's damn incredible: the “
wanna”, “
weonhae”, and “
ppeonhae” all create these imperfect rhymes that continue momentum without feeling repetitive.
After the very
Boy With Luv-sounding “
ah yeah ah yeah, ah yeah ah yeah” comes an 8-bar split half and half between Chaeyoung and Momo. Coming from the chorus, the production completely cuts out for the first 2 bars. This adds tension; the song yearns to have that bass beat thumping again and all we have in the audio space in those 2 bars is Chaeyoung spittin' and she delivered.
taneun deut tteugeoun samak wie
yeppeuge pieonan jangmi gata
joshimseure naege dagaol ttae
nado moreuge jjilleobeoril tende
Translating to:
Above the hot, burning desert
It’s like a rose that bloomed beautifully
When you come to me slowly
I will prick you unconsciously
The rap feels slick, effortless, and confident. Her diction remains sharp when enunciating each syllable but she doesn’t let the flow of her rap waver or build as her 4 bars go by, it’s just smooth consistency throughout. Even the lyrics possess an aura of laid-back collectedness that is just so her. The things Chaeyoung can do when given her pen.
THE GOOD
- That sweet summer vibe of a chorus
- The “spaceship” post-chorus is killer
- Chaeyoung devoured this song
- Sure-footed, confident lyrics
Needs Work
- Perhaps an alteration of that ah yeah ah yeah line
- The way Jihyo did her pre-chorus line is good, but Mina’s is great
Core Memory
- After donating my hair, walking down the rainbow-coloured areas of downtown Toronto with this song playing was very… fitting
This song is summer bliss distilled into 2:56. It’s dreamy, the raps are satisfying, and the ending is charming. I will say that although the second half of the song adds the stunning “spaceship” post-choruses and a floaty bridge with an incredible drumbeat drop into the final chorus, the raps of the song make it feel a bit front-loaded. And in an album stacked with awesome finishers, it feels more apparent.
With that said, it’s an 8/10 bop for me. This song is so easy to put on and it feels exactly what Chaeyoung would make if given the reins to produce a pop song all on her own. The lyrics are nonchalant but full of conviction, the wordplay is intricate, and the production playful but not too bombastic — it's just a nice vibe. Songs like
Basics are the standard for good, simple, repeatable pop music and I’m happy that Chaeyoung got to test her pen in this genre.
BABY WE’RE IN TROUBLE TROUBLE
Trouble 💃
Sole lyricist credit: Jihyo
Background vocals: Jihyo
Lead composer credit: Jihyo
Vocal director credit: Jihyo (an assumption given her contributions in
First Time)
One of the most enjoyable songs I’ve heard in a while.
There is an underlying tension within the first 4 bars of the song, Jihyo and Nayeon confidently open it to a nondescript array of synths and then the stanza ends, Momo announces “
Let’s go”, the beat drops and it hits you: this is a club song.
Dahyun's relaxed delivery contrasted with Jeongyeon's staccato flow, the wobbly synth beat with sprinkle of house piano, Sana dramatically slowing down the song only for Tzuyu to build it back up until the chorus drops,
- Nayeon opens it using a breathy tone, with vocal chops serving as harmonies
- The blooming of the house piano takes centre stage and the song ascends into euphoria
- A random drum roll capped off by a cymbal crash
- Jeongyeon’s pronunciation of the word “trouble” almost being a growl
- Chaeyoung slyly admitting “I like this trouble”
- The entirety of Tzuyu’s tro~oh~oh~ouble yeah~
- Sana using her deep voice for the na~na~na~na
- Jihyo leading the vocals during the synchronized T W I C E chant
This chorus is perfect. Toronto’s residential market needs this song injected into its veins because god damn this song has SO much house in it. And then, ANOTHER KILLING PART: this rap fucking slaps.
gamchweo bwatja geugeon Fake
ppajin hamjeongeun Sweet cake
During the first 2 bars, Chaeyoung is keeping it calm because that trip of a chorus just ended and the song needs a breather, but I don't think anyone expected her to
SNAP this hard afterwards:
You cannot resist this
Cannot miss this, such a bliss
Ima put it down down
Oh yeah, better kiss kiss
Below is the structure of her this portion of the rap, I’m not that well versed in this technical aspect of music theory but I digress, this is all in the span of around 5 seconds where it’s:
Triplet-triplet
Quadruplet-triplet
Quadruplet-doublet
Doublet-quadruplet
Now, 25/5 = 5 syllables per second isn’t groundbreaking, but goddamn it these 2 bars sound so nice — if there is one part in this album that I always repeat, it’s this. The addition of that first quadruplet for “
cannot miss this” in the midst of the triplets sticks out and accelerates the flow of the rap while the following doublets and quadruplets destabilize and slow the rap down as the verse closes. And can I just point out:
THE MAIN VOCALIST WROTE, DIRECTED, AND COMPOSED THIS SONG ‼ Chaeyoung of course delivered the fuck out of her verse but THIS is what you get when you have a member not only write the words they’re saying but also the melody and flow with which they sing it, when that member knows the others so well that when they write a song they know how to make the group exceed. This is what you get when the artists you stan love doing artist shit.
And.
AND. That's not all — with how much I mentioned I love a good outro to close a song, this outro slaps as well:
Woo wee woo wee woo
I like this trouble be-be
Woo wee woo wee woo
I like this trouble bay-be
Woo wee woo wee woo
I like this trouble bay-beh
Woo wee woo wee woo
I like this trou-ble
Like, come on, Nayeon’s imitating a police siren for crying out loud. And this is all after her ad-libs in the final post-chorus; after the pianist going full tilt and playing that piano as if it was their last chance to ever play; after that final
T W I C E chant by all the members come these blissful 20 seconds at the very end. What a song.
THE GOOD
- The theme of relishing in an uncontrolled love
- Sana and Mina’s melody in the pre-chorus
- Chorus
- Rap
- Outro
- Wees and woos
Needs Work
- Mina’s line of “falling down, falling down, falling down low” in verse 2 feels a bit too abrupt of a change
Core Memory
- While writing Trouble's review I had this song on repeat for my whole subway commute and I must've been so distracting, just head-bopping and being so invested in enjoying a song
Need I say more, easy 9/10. The only reason I place
Talk that Talk above
Trouble is because of what that song represents but besides that, this is one of the best “international” sounds they’ve put out. Actually, I haven’t listened to
Eyes wide open in a while but this song is up there with one of the most sonically pleasing pieces of work they’ve done.
Clubbing TWICE has always been a thing since
TT was birthed in 2016, and has been a staple of their discography since 2019’s
Fancy You and
Feel Special mini albums, but
Trouble unapologetically dives into and fits the house genre so well you’d think that this is TWICE’s bread and butter sound.
Trouble is Jihyo’s magnum opus. What a song.
BRAVE BRAVE BRAVE FOR YOU
Brave 💖
Main producer: Slow Rabbit of HYBE
I first thought this was just a good song, then I read the lyrics.
Gentle guitar plucks, shimmering synths, a distant keyboard in the right ear, in the left a glockenspiel, the melodic
oohs from the members — this song is
PRETTY.
The night that was unusually dark
Above this terrifying world, felt so lonely
The world has grown in the time of wandering
So hard to breathe
Mina and Chaeyoung open the song with how they feel lonely and that it's hard to breathe and now suddenly the song feels bittersweet — I was not expecting the song to be this emotional.
Brave describes a situation where the singer is in a darker place in life and it isn't until another person gives them hope by calling them 'brave' that they find the drive to keep going.
Once the chorus hits, the melodies pick up, more guitars get added — there’s even an electric guitar hidden in the mix somewhere, and the song drops the emotional front to reveal a mid-tempo pop song to dance to while crying in the club. The song as a whole still carries this melancholy feeling, but now with the added support of this chorus acting as a light amongst the gloom.
Continuing on in the second verse there's this gorgeous, well-placed break in the song that just lets it settle after that chorus. Only a seasoned producer would risk this much empty space in a song and Slow Rabbit went to fill those shoes.
Back to the chorus, I'll take this moment to once again commend Slow Rabbit with the mixing of the song, because 4MIX undoubtedly sounds good in the chorus, and the interludes from Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Mina also sound really good, but the clear highlight of the choruses are these lines:
Oh na na na neon nal naige hae [Momo, then Tzuyu, then Momo]
On and on and on
Brave brave brave for ya [Dahyun, then Chaeyoung, then Mina]
Oh na na na neon nal sum shwige hae [Sana, then Momo, then Sana]
On and on and on oh trust me babe
Momo, Sana, and Tzuyu form this beautiful, surprisingly catchy, second half of the chorus accompanied by a guitar drop. It should not turn out this well with how conflicting the "
na"s are with the guitar melody but it creates this gentle bopping ebb and flow that feels so lush and mellow.
Diving into the bridge reveals that the listener of the song is revealed not only capable of supporting the singer through direct words but also through their thoughts and dreams. As can be discerned, this can be a song interpreted to be about ONCEs, about how they push TWICE to be their best selves despite the breathless hardships they face. It's a very sweet and touching song.
THE GOOD
- Special lyrics
- Pleasant sound to vibe out to
- That gentle break after the first chorus
- Jihyo’s high note at the end
- A Nayeon Jeongyeon joint high note ⁉️
- Just pretty vocals throughout
Needs Work
- Potentially hard to comprehend without translating the Korean lyrics
Core Memory
- Form of Therapy’s life motto revolves around the word “brave”. I don’t know where I got that from, but I remembered it right before watching his album reaction
I’m actually spoiled with the TWICE members’ easy-to-understand songwriting that when a song like this pops up where it's not written by a member and the thematic bits are mostly in Korean, I tend to put it aside in favour of the other songs on the album. And, especially for a song focusing on a theme like this where the English phrases don’t do the Korean lyrics enough justice, it does place a bit of a barrier on the listening experience, dropping it down to a 7/10 from an 8/10.
With that anecdote out of the way, this song is just such a vibe, man. I know that sounds super hippy to say but
Brave is so mellow and smooth that I can’t help but sway a little when that chorus hits. And then I remember what the lyrics say and I tear up a bit on the inside. This song is so pure, raw, and full of heart — we need more songs like these where they just reminisce about life while putting up an upbeat front. Don't mind me just crying while dancing the night away.
With that said, this isn't the first time this theme has been sung by TWICE either, they've long trodden this path of supportive, confiding, up-lifting songs with
Young & Wild,
Rainbow,
Queen,
Go Hard, Depend on You, even this album's
Queen of Hearts, and, of course,
Feel Special.
Brave just adds another on top of an already stacked lineup, unique with its mellow somberness.
Also now feels like a good time to get into my rating system:
- 7/10s are songs are ones that are simply good throughout or great songs with apparent flaws
- 8/10s are great songs with standout characteristics
- 9/10s are borderline perfect songs where I sometimes can't comprehend how great they are
- And 10/10s are the best of an artist's discography, songs that encapsulate their ethos perfectly or expand upon them in a meaningful way
I SEE THE LIES ON THE TIP OF YOUR TONGUE
Gone 💨
Sole lyricist credit: Dahyun
Who the fuck pissed off Dubu this time??
It’s getting quite rare to see TWICE pull off brand new sounds because, with now 190 original songs under their belt, they’ve done so many genres and sub-genres varying from hyper pop, to bossa nova, to whatever 2020’s
Go Hard is. So it’s surprising to see they’ve still got tricks up their sleeves and
Gone is one of them.
The song starts with strings swinging back and forth and vocal chops dancing from ear to ear, teasing what’s yet to come. Jihyo enters the song with a whisper and the song sets its pace. A stagnant drum pad moves the song along and typical song progression would have Mina continue the build but — it doesn’t. The song simmers, adding a hint of high hat to the pot. And then, Sana and Tzuyu come on and surely the buildup must boil over right?
Silence, until…
I see the LIES on the top of your tongue
The strings emerge again on full blast, the simmer rolls to a boil, and the anger of the song is revealed,
All the fate I had towards you
Fades like a fog, gone, gone
Your flipping mind of doing this and that
I’m tired of it, it’s meaningless
In the beginning, it was hard to believe
With that, hatred increases
The singer is so scorned and burned from this relationship that they reminisce about all the effort they’ve put in since the beginning, but their “partner” is so unconcerned that they’ve just about had enough of the relationship altogether.
This has been Dahyun’s thing since 2020’s
Bring It Back, 2021’s
Cruel, 2022’s
That’s all I’m saying, and even 2023's
Don't Blame It On Me — emotionally charged breakup songs that make you feel as if she’s gone through a dozen bad relationships. Dispatch, do your job better, or don't.
Another highlight of the song is the post-chorus going into the bridge. This segment reiterates the structure from the first post-chorus — a barrage of drums supported by the rhythmic strumming of a bass guitar along with a consistent synth filling out the soundscape. But this time, it’s Dahyun and Chaeyoung on the rap:
I can’t stand it anymore [Dahyun]
My patience, invisible
I can’t find it, it’s all gone
Even if I try to turn back, it’s too late [Chaeyoung]
There’s no use anymore
It has left, it’s long gone
You, with flipping mind, you are out [Momo]
I know that you know what I’m talking about [Dahyun]
Nothing you could say that could turn this around
I’m gone
Continuing the disrespected theme of the song, Dahyun notes that she’s finally had enough with Chaeyoung adding that there’s no point salvaging what was once there for all of it is long gone. Momo and Dahyun round it off by telling the listener that there’s no point trying to reason with them or playing naive, they fucked up and there’s no coming back.
Can I just say, it's a bit of a shame that Chaeyoung’s rapping popped off in this album while Dahyun only has this one verse that she shares with Chaeyoung, but it just sounds so good how Dahyun eases in after the chorus with her light rapping tone transitioning into her singing. She even holds the “
gone” in a little crescendo for some added pizzazz.
And, there’s no way I’m not going to talk about Momo’s vocals in this bridge. Damned if she only got 1 line to use it in, her lower register is incredible. She sounds so smooth singing in this tone. All of TWICE do in particular and there is nary a weak vocal performance in this album.
To close the song off, a wash of synths gets to have their shine in the spotlight, showered with Nayeon’s belting, signifying the dramatic and drawn-out conclusion of this partnership.
THE GOOD
- They’ve still got their surprises
- Thundering chorus
- 2nd rap and bridge combo
- A bitter, crumbling relationship theme
Needs Work
- I’m not a huge fan of the mixing during the first post-chorus, where Momo's vocals were fighting with the production, which is disappointing because Momo is capable of an insane flow
- The post-chorus in general, specifically the first one, can be a bit tiring on repeat listens
Core Memory
- Actually, I think this song sounds like a mix between GOT7's Not By The Moon, BLACKPINK’s Love To Hate Me, and Dahyun’s Bring It Back. I don’t know where I got this thought came from, but it stuck
Going back to that point about the first post-chorus as a whole; songs that have the production continue unchanged into the post-chorus/2nd verse are very hit or miss for me — see TWICE's
Don't Call Me Again for an overbearing example. The post-chorus going into the bridge contrasts Dahyun’s light tone nicely with the hard-hitting production, continuing the energy until it slowly fades into silence at the end of the bridge.
Back to the song as a whole, as much as TWICE has been experimenting with their sound for the past 4 years now, I’m happy they’re still finding new ways to explore what they’re capable of. And for that alone, even though I’m not a big fan of songs like these where they rely on sounding “big”, Dahyun’s lyricism and the thrill I receive every time I indulge myself in this song when I listen to it for the first time in a while elevates it to an 8/10. Keep on breaking hearts, Dubu.

Press play to reminisce, pull up lyrics to cry.
This song is so beautiful. I’m totally not writing this song review, crying on the bus reminiscing about my childhood, while just having turned 21. I don’t know if these are happy or sad tears but this song is so beautiful either way.
Warm synths, muted piano, a gentle high hat, the younger members starting off the song — this has to be up there for one of the softest TWICE songs ever. And as it should, it’s one of the TWICEiest songs ever. And then Nayeon comes in,
Invincible superheroes, we wanted to be adults
To the higher, clearer world
The chords start swelling, the high hat keeps pace, and the harmonies come in,
Remember when we were kids
When we were kids, we didn’t know
If we could go back
I will love it even more
Remember when we were kids
Jihyo takes up the second half of the chorus as it drops, trading the strings for an almost R&B synth production — if choir R&B takes off, this song started it. The song relishes in this cacophony of warm sounds until returning to its sparse and peaceful verses.
This time, the hints of piano are louder, little twinkling synths begin to shimmer, the drum buildup comes and Jeongyeon drives the song straight into the chorus. No time for the strings to build like in Nayeon’s — this song loves its chorus so much.
And I'll just take this time to appreciate the amount of Jeongyeon vocals in this album. Her voice is so clean, stable, and projected — but also more tender and soft compared to the more pronounced tones of Nayeon and Jihyo.
The bridge comes in, repeating the phrase:
I wish that I could meet
Could meet the younger me
Giving the song time to rest, before building back up to the last chorus — this time led by Jihyo, completing the 3MIX trifecta. And interestingly enough, Chaeyoung follows up in the second half of the chorus, rather than another member of the vocal line. She really did pop off in this album.
As the last chorus begins to close, the percussion at its strongest, the harmonies on blast, the background vocals cranked up to their Sunday best, is the song going to end? Of course not! This is an album full of banger endings as if the songs don’t want to end, and
When We Were Kids being the album closer very much indulges in that feeling.
After a brief refrain, accented by Nayeon’s high note with a touch of vibrato, the song almost dives back into a fourth chorus. Nayeon and Jeongyeon harmonize — a rare and heavenly moment. And the song repeats the bridge, reiterating that they want to meet their younger selves, this time with the lush chorus production before closing with silence, a few piano notes, and Tzuyu singing the last line of the song:
Oh, we were kids
Reflection, acceptance, hope. What a song.
THE GOOD
- Heavenly vocals throughout
- Relatable, heartfelt lyrics
- Euphoric chorus
- Great closer to the album
Needs Work
- Refrain after the last chorus, "Back when we were kids," could’ve been executed better
Core Memory
- For an album titled Between 1&2, I don’t think anything hits harder than finishing the song reviews, with this song in particular, during your 21st birthday
I wrote the first part of this review in November 2022. Then university, life, and other things got in the way of my headspace for me to feel confident about wrapping all of this up. In a way, I felt like I just didn’t want this review to end because of the joy that writing gives me — I didn’t want the happiness to end. And then it hit me, after watching a YouTuber rank animated movies and them placing
Spirited Away at the top and explaining 'why' reminded me of just how important growing up is, and by extension this song.
This theme is important for both the rookie TWICE members in 2015 and the teenagers who would follow their journey and grow up with them, facing life’s obstacles along the way. Hardships that used to only involve family, crushes, and social media, evolve into work, commitments and all the struggles that adult life brings. Being a kid and enjoying the simple things in life is one of the most sought-after moments we want to relive because we took growing up for granted. The only thing we can do now is look back on ourselves with fondness and rose-tinted lenses.
TWICE’s original marketing was to resonate with people through their senses and their hearts. That was during their debut, and I think it still holds up today. In my opinion, touching people through their emotions is what TWICE does best and makes them one of K-pop’s all-time greats. It was never about having the best numbers — it was always about being the best idols. And to think that this journey of maturation and growth would occur from 2015 all the way to this song, being a fitting nod to TWICE’s 7th anniversary, I don’t think anyone at the company nor the group would ever imagine that they would get this far. It’s these nine women or none — 9/10.
This song honestly deserves a 10/10 with how much I noticed other people reminiscing their childhoods after I heard this song, it is such a widely-relatable message, but I am determined to limit myself to one 10/10 song per album and if I were to pick between
TTT and WWWK, I'd give it to the one's that's more repeatable —
Talk that Talk just has this electric energy about it.
Epilogue
And finally here is the end. If you made it in one sitting then I commend you, because I could not write this mess in one sitting. As alluded to, I started writing this album review sometime in October, after a series of edits the first draft was finished in March, and now here's the final draft in June.
I love this album. It got me through some important parts of my life, both good and bad, and it's just a wonderful listen throughout. Reliving this album again before finally completing the review has been an exciting journey.
Brave hit me harder this time, after being overshadowed by the other gems of this album, and
WWWK finally got me to tear up and not just be emotionally satisfied.
I feel like there's something for everyone on this album. From the exhilarating thrills of
TTT to the anthemic euphoria of
QoH, the clubbing dichotomy of
Trouble and
Brave to the blissful glee of
Basics, and the sweet reminiscence of
WWWK to the thundering anger that is
Gone. Like
Eyes wide open, I liken
Between 1&2 to a pop music taste platter — there's such an eclectic mix of pop, music in this album that there's bound to be a song that someone will love, like, and dislike.
Is this album perfect? I don't think so, but it's close — it was certainly my 2022 AOTY. Was this review biased? Absolutely. I've been a fan since 2019 and with the themes in this album, I also feel like it was biased towards me as a ONCE. And how would I rank the album in TWICE's catalogue? It's honestly at the top, at least with EPs — I also felt that way towards
Feel Special but then this album was birthed so I'm excited for TWICE's future.
Ready To Be was also a stunning album and
Eyes wide open frankly also deserved the spotlight that
Formula of Love received so I might hit those next but no promises; this album took long enough to bake.
As for the performances, I've only seen Twitter clips (no fancams to not spoil myself) and I am SO EXCITED to finally see them in July.
QoH was as glorious as expected,
Brave was a delightful surprise, and
WWWK, while not being the concert closer everyone expected it to be, paired up nicely with
Crazy Stupid Love. And of course the bombastic addition of the dance break to
TTT. But, this is not a concert review, and this is where this album review ends.
Feel free to comment with any thoughts regarding the album, other TWICE albums, and any suggestions for my writing in general. Congrats again on making it this far!
God, I love this album.

2023.06.03 22:49 Dexushun32 20 part magic item based on Sung Jinwoo
Quick context: My friend who is new to dnd but have done some playing, asked me to create a character for him based of sung jinwoo from solo leveling. I said its going to be hard because while sung jinwoo controlling a millions of shadow soldiers in dnd you mostly can contorl like 20 in combat, then he said then do something and my adhd head started create the character(wizard) and this magic item that more likely a class in its self.
So this what i made its kinda like the beta version of it because its still missing stat blocks, etc.
So here it is:

1 seal = 1 lvl
5 seal's = 5 lvl
10 seal's = 10 lvl
15 seal's = 15 lvl
20 seal's = 20 lvl

2023.06.03 22:32 mfbrownbear [P5V5P4] The Bible, and what it takes to rule
I have gotten curious about what is actually written in the Bible, versus what is written in the Grutrissheit. I am also curious as to why there are so many copies / translations / transcriptions of the bible without there being a complete copy in the archives.
When Myne was an apprentice blue shrine maiden and was allowed access to the Temple book room, she read the Bible. Then she read different copies of the Bible in the Temple book room. She was reading versions so old that Damuel couldn't read them at all, and Ferdinand had to help her with the translation. [P2V3]
Then, she later became the High Bishop and was made the owner of the Temple's primary Bible. A magic tool. At some point later, after new material started appearing to her in that Bible, and she asks Ferdinand for advice:
In [P4V7]
"So this is the bible only the High Bishop can read, hm? What makes it different from other bibles?" Justus asked. He was eagerly flipping through the pages, but his response proved that he couldn't see the magic circle or the text in the air.
"It is a more complete version - or, at the very least, it has more details than any of the transcriptions in the temple's book room," I replied. There were several transcriptions of the bible in the temple's book room, but their page counts varied quite dramatically.
Most of the older stuff in the temple book room would have come from old Eisenreich, since Ehrenfest is only a couple of hundred years old. I imagine all of the original Eisenreich temple's divine instruments and Bible and documents got moved to the new Ehrenfest temple when the foundation was moved. I would have thought that Rozemyne, upon becoming the owner of the Bible when she was made High Bishop and finding she could read all the way to the end of the book, would have started a new and more complete transcription right away. At the time, not knowing that no one else can read as much of it as she can, she would have also wondered why no one had fully transcribed it before.
In [P4V1] Rozemyne hears about the Grutrissheit for the first time from Rosina.
She went on the explain that the Grutrissheit was the original bible, owned by Mestionora herself. The first king of the country had been chosen by the gods and permitted to transcribe a copy.
Then, in [P4V7] while she is talking to Ferdinand about the new magic circle and text that started showing up in her Bible:
As the bible described, the position of Zent was given to those who transcribed the original Grutrissheit. Ferdinand explained that over the long years hence, this had morphed into the current Zent passing his transcribed version down to the next. The passed-down Grutrissheit itself had become the symbol of the Zent.
This transcription had been lost during the civil war following the previous king's death. Now, the current king needed to transcribe a new one from the original Grutrissheit... but its location remained unknown.
Then, Ferdinand tells Rozemyne that even if she meets every other qualification, she will still never see the original Grutrissheit.
"You certainly have all of the qualities necessary to become king. However, there is one crucial condition that you have not fulfilled."
"And what condition is that?" I asked, looking at the bible curiously.
"It is simple," Ferdinand said. "You were born a commoner and thus do not have royal blood. For that reason, you cannot become king."
"Royal blood...? The bible doesn't say anything about needing that."
Ferdinand tapped a finger against his temple in contemplation and then let out a sigh. "In the same way that only certain people can enter this hidden room, the Grutrissheit is within an archive that only royalty can enter - or so an ancient text maintains. In other words, you will not be able to enter that archive, nor will you be able to transcribe the book. No matter how many kingly qualities you may have, you cannot become king."
After Rozemyne cries about having her hopes dashed that Prince Hildebrand wouldn't be able to let her into the Forbidden Archive to at least read the book ..
"Besides, the Grutrissheit in the archive is the first king's transcription, so we can assume it is nearly identical to this bible we have with us.
So, all of this has left me feeling a bit confused. By my count, there are 3 versions of the Grutrissheit. Four, if you count the Bibles.
- The Book of Mestionora. The one held by the goddess herself. THE Original Grutrissheit. She does not lend it out. The first Zent was allowed to make a copy.
- The First Zent's Grutrissheit. The only direct transcription from the Book of Mestionora. The first worldly version of the book. Yurgenschmidt's Original Grutrissheit, the one used to create the country. Claimed to be in the Forbidden Archive, only accessible to those with royal blood. Perhaps anyone with access to the Forbidden Archive could make a copy.
- The Grutrissheit. I guess the "normal" one. The one that all Zents after the first one had to transcribe from his. Like the one that was lost during the recent civil war. Was this the only one around though? It sounds like there can be more than one copy. If anyone qualified to enter the forbidden archive can make a copy, then it's possible.
It appears that the Book of Mestionora has only ever been seen by one person, the First Zent. Most mentions of the "original" Grutrissheit refer to the one owned by the First Zent. Also, it isn't clear if the qualifications to enter the Forbidden Archive to get a copy of the Grutrissheit are needed to simply pass along an existing copy. I would think that not being qualified to
get a Grutrissheit would disqualify you from being able to
use one either. Would Trauerqual or Sigiswald even be able to use one someone else gave them?
So, if Rozemyne meets all the other qualifications, but still can't enter the Forbidden Archive due to not having royal blood, then everyone's plans are screwed. If that happens the rampage will be, ironically, biblical. I could see Rozemyne at that point demanding to speak to the manager.
Rozemyne: "Get Mestionora down here NOW! I pay my prayer taxes! I demand to make my own copy directly from her! I will boycott! You will never see another drop of mana from me, or my retainers, I swear!"
Question: Would Rozemyne rather read the 1st edition print of the Grutrissheit in the Forbidden Archive, or would she rather make her own custom print from the Book of Mestionora herself?
Answer: Both. Obviously. She would want to compare and even smell the differences.
But, now I wonder about the difference between the "hidden" archive that requires the 3 keys to open, and the "forbidden" archive that only Royals can enter. It was said that only Royals and select archduke family members could enter the Hidden Archive. Those that didn't meet the criteria were told "Not qualified" by the shumils. Perhaps after you fulfill all of the other hidden qualifications that make the shumil say things like "Not enough elements" and "Not enough prayer" they would lead you to the Forbidden Archive? Ferdinand also explained that "Royal blood" was spread around the duchy in a way, while describing his thoughts on the nature of the Temple Bibles.
[P4V7]
"Furthermore, the archdukes in the distant past were married to those of royal blood," Ferdinand continued. "In other words, one could say that more or less all children of archdukes have royal blood to some extent. Perhaps the first king distributed these bibles to each duchy such that the strongest of all those with his blood would be chosen to be king."
Based on how this describes archduke families having royal blood, and that those with enough of it can enter the Hidden Archive, I get a feeling that there is not a higher level of royal blood needed to enter the Forbidden Archive than is needed to enter the Hidden one. If that's the case, then Rozemyne already
does have royal blood.
If Rozemyne can enter the Hidden Archive, then she already meets the "select archduke candidate" criteria, even though she was born a commoner. It makes me think that "royal blood" might not mean genetic inheritance.
If it's possible to obtain "royal blood', i.e. become recognized as royal by magic, without actual blood relations, I can only think of two ways.
- Divine intervention. Whether from Divine Protections or some other way, I bet the gods could declare someone fit to rule and they would be recognized as royal by magic means.
- Mana interaction. Blood is heavily associated with a person's mana as well. The highest concentration of a person's mana is in their blood. Mana-mixing among family and lovers could theoretically change someone's mana to introduce "royal blood" to their system.
In the second scenario, Rozemyne could have only gotten her royal blood from Ferdinand, who admitted in the past that he has a fair amount of it. They haven't mixed mana as lovers of course, but their long association in the temple, performing rituals where their mana flows together, may have been enough. He also synchronized his mana with hers when he read her memories.
I really don't know what to expect anymore. Will Rozemyne be blocked from entering the Forbidden Archive? Will she summon a goddess? Even if she gets the Grutrissheit, will she be able to simply hand it off to someone not qualified to get it themselves? Someone send Ferdinand some Tylenol.

2023.06.03 22:14 Melowomiam Introducing two cats in a shared flat
Hi y'all.
I'm new in a flat with other roomates and they already have a cat.She is very cute, friendly and all ! Mine is the same but he's bigger.
I wanted to introduce them following the advice of our god of all Jackson Galaxy but the other cat doesn't really have an owner so there is no one I can turn myself to try feeding time, play time etc, to introduce them step by step.I was hopping that my cat would be ok with the other one but they don't really like eachother right now, I'm trying my best to make my cat discover the house when the other cat is outside or in another part of the flat but it's quite challenging and I can't see everything : my only solution is to lock up my cat in my tiny room when I'm working somewhere else, and I don't like that at all, I also know that it's just going to increase the issue...
When I am there, it's not very difficult to manage because my cat like being outside and I know that if there is a problem I can step in. But I don't want any problem !!
Just now I was just letting my cat in the living room 2 seconds because I had something to do there, and I thought that the other cat was outside : I was wrong. They chassed each other (but my cat is bigger so he quickly took over... ) . I had to pursue them and separate them. My cat was still a little angry at the point to attack me (little blood) , I don't blame him at all but so you know the tension between those two
I don't want the other cat to be afraid to be at home : it's her first.
I don't know really what I can do, I'm afraid because I want the best for both cats. I am afraid that other roomates don't have the patience and the truth that I have, knowing that my cat is not very angry etc..
Actually, I want to build a "bridge" from my window to the outside for my cat to be able to go out when he wants, but he can enter the house throught one door and encounter the other one in..
Thank you for reading, sorry for the multiple mistakes, english is not my first language.

2023.06.03 22:11 Fancy_Leader6278 Once you reach pinnacle cap, there should be an option for either an exotic from a weekly or an eveverse engram.
Now hold on for a sec and listen cause i think im actually on to something.
As someone who loves fashion in destiny and emotes. I would love to get them somehow other than just bright dust items and eveverse engrams.
Hence why i recommend bungie to give us the option of weekly engrams from activities being either an exotic engram or eveverse engram, of course this would only be when you have reached powerful/pinnacle cap. This would cause more players to play those weekly's and do them for cosmetic stuff as after you have your god roll exotic armor and have pinnacle cap reached, theres really no point in doing weekly's.
And remember, eveverse engrams dont have brand new stuff, they have stuff from two season ago and more. Meaning more players play core activities but bungie does not lose out on silver purchases that are new stuff.
I think this would be a great way to make more players play those activities as a lot of players already have their god rolls and best builds, im pretty sure something similar was like this in d1 where we would get loot boxes for weekly and daily stuff.
As someone who plays this game on the daily for about two to three hours minimal, this would be a nice change of pace and would make me wait for reset even more, knowing i can get new stuff.

2023.06.03 22:01 the_celt_ Christians should be keeping the Law: The Acts 15 Council of Jerusalem story proves that the Law is for us today.
This article has been broken up into sections to make it easier to read. If you want to SKIP to the main argument, then just jump to the section titled "
Common Modern Christian Teaching that Acts 15 Refutes". If you find something there that interests you or angers you, you might want to put some effort into reading the rest of the article. Come visit us at our new subreddit to learn more: FollowJesusObeyTorah --- We're not Lawless! We're Just Against Obeying the Law! ---
You have heard that it was said, "Acts 15 PROVES that obeying the Law is not for Christians today", but verily I say unto you, "Nope! The exact opposite is true".
The Council of Jerusalem proves that Torah obedience is 100% valid and vital for everyone today.
If you're like most people, you have heard a greatly abused quote from Acts 15 that people pull out to oppose anyone that claims that we're supposed to imitate the way that Jesus lived, and keep God's commandments. People commonly respond, "What are these Judaizers even thinking, to suggest such a thing? We're not Jewish, are we?"
Then they try to prove it with this quote:
Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.
So maybe you're thinking, "Take that, Judaizers! Anyone that can hear that quote, and still think it's reasonable to obey the Law, is just ignoring scripture!"
Well, you might think that, but you'd be wrong. It's not that easy. It's time to stop isolating this quote and start dealing with the context.
--- Let's Keep This in Context. Are We Saved by Works? ---
The context is this: The story starts with this quote which shows why the Council of Jerusalem was held in the first place:
Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.”
These "certain people" were very likely the evil "Judaizers" that were following around behind Paul, trying to undo the great things that Yahweh was doing through Paul.
Let's establish something very important right up front: Everyone in history that's ever been saved was saved the exact same way, by faith. There IS no other way. There's never been another way. Abraham was saved the same way that you and I are saved today.
You might reasonably ask: If every great person in scripture was saved the same way, and every one of those people ALSO kept God's Torah, than doesn't that seem to indicate that Torah and salvation by faith actually go very well together?
Yes, it does.
What those Judaizers were doing was telling new converts that there was ANOTHER way, other than faith. They whispered in people's ears saying that you could be saved by obeying Torah, or what is commonly called "works".
Were those Judaizers right? Of course not. Works prove your faith is alive (not dead), but works have never saved anyone. Remember, there's only one way, and that's faith. The Judaizers were liars. They did something worse than putting the cart before the horse. They killed the horse!
--- They're Savages, Savages! Dirty Shrieking Devils! ---
The Council of Jerusalem was at a crucial time in history. Our Father had just done an amazing thing by grafting Gentiles into the mighty Olive Tree of Israel. Suddenly all the Jews were surrounded by Gentiles (who they considered, to varying degrees, to be disgusting) and they had to GET ALONG with the Gentiles because everyone was unified in the fact that Jesus is the Messiah and our future King.
So let me tell you, there were some hot and heavy debates on how much these dirty Gentiles had to do right away (these are the key words) to get cleaned up to God's standards. This is what the Council of Jerusalem was all about, and that's why it was recorded in scripture for us to read about today.
Let's focus on who these people were, these "Gentiles".
They were ex-Pagans. They were newly converted. They had received the Holy Spirit (verse 8). As ex-Pagans they were used to a lifestyle that you and I can barely imagine today. It was very likely a life of orgies, drug use, idolatry... THE WORKS. For the long-time Jews, who had been keeping Torah for 1000's of years, these Gentiles were the worst people they could imagine.
But, they all agreed on Jesus.
How do you make these two groups, who were all saved the same way (the only way), get along with each other? Did the Jews need to get rid of God's commandments and learn to live like the Gentiles? Was the Law gone, now that everyone had the Holy Spirit? If you listen to what the Council decided the answer is clearly, "No!"
No, the Gentiles had to learn to live like the Jews had been living for 1000's of years at that point. The new converts had to start keeping God's ways, not their own ways. They had to walk the path of righteousness and start growing the fruit that proves our faith is genuine.
They were already saved, but being saved is the starting point, not the ending point, on the path of righteousness. I feel like I should repeat that sentence again, but you can just re-read it. It's important.
--- Let's Start With 4 or "Ya' Gotta Start Somewhere, Don'tcha?" ---
As I already stated up top, the Council was convened to combat the non-scriptural and ultimately evil premise that these Gentiles had to be circumcised to be saved. The Council immediately nixed the circumcision, and any other idea that works lead to salvation. This is what they meant in that part that so many Christians love to quote about the "yoke". The yoke was the lie put forward by the Judaizers that someone could keep Torah perfectly enough that they would be saved.
That's an impossible yolk, folks! Don't put that thing on your neck!
Instead, the Council wisely chose 4 PERSONALIZED starter commandments from Torah. They chose the commandments that would shoot the Gentile's Paganism right in the head. They chose to get rid of the orgies (sexual immorality) and the idolatry.
You have to start somewhere, right?
After living the standard Christian lifestyle for many decades, God opened up my eyes to the fact that His Torah is absolutely still required. I can tell you from experience: You can't go from 0 to 60 with the commandments. I tried. There's too many of them, and it's confusing at first to know how to keep them. It's years later now for me, and I still feel like I barely know what I'm doing, but it's one of the best things that ever happened to me. I finally found the path.
These Pagans started so much further away from the target than I did. They were soooo far away from God's standard, which is Jesus. They had a lot to learn. Isn't it quite a wonder to imagine the road that they had ahead of them, as they loved God and learned to keep His ways?
--- BOOM! ---
Please, when you're reading this story of what the Council decided, do NOT miss the atomic bomb that is in verse 21. This is probably something you never saw before, or if you did, you never really thought about it. Here it is:
For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.
They concluded their list of 4 personalized starter commandments from Torah by saying that the rest of the commandments can easily be learned later, as they are being taught constantly in the synagogues. They concluded that ALL of Torah will come later, over time. How has this verse been ignored for so long?
--- Common Modern Christian Teaching That Acts 15 Refutes ---
Maybe you can see now that Acts 15 PROVES that Torah-obedience is still required for us today? Acts 15 is all Torah, all the time, coast-to-coast.
Or maybe you still can't see it? I'll try a bit harder to make sure that you do.
You just have to really think about those things you hear get said all the time by people that mostly have their heads filled with traditions of men, things heard in the pulpit, and who have never really thought it all through for themselves. It's time to change that.
Here are the things you will hear from modern Christians that Acts 15 absolutely refutes:
- Torah was given for Israel, and Gentiles don't have to obey it. (Oh? Then why did the Council give Gentiles Torah to obey? Please consider that we've been grafted in and that means that We. Are. Israel.)
- Jesus made all foods clean and the dietary laws are no longer applicable. (3 out of 4 commandments from the Council were dietary laws.)
- There are 3 Categories for Torah which are Civil, Ceremonial, and Moral. We only have to obey the Moral Category. (3 out of the 4 commandments from the Council were not from the "Moral Category". Also, those goofy categories are man-made and non-scriptural. Jesus used 2 categories, Love for God and Love for Neighbor. If you use the categories that Jesus used, it's a lot harder to pitch one of those categories into the trash, isn't it?)
- I have the Holy Spirit! I don't need any silly commandments anymore! I have the commandments written on my heart! (Those converts also had the Spirit, yet the Council still gave them Torah to obey. Apparently people with the Spirit still need to be taught Torah.)
- All of those references in the newer scriptures that say to keep the commandments are not referring to Torah. They're referring to the "Law of Christ"/the "Royal Law"/The 2 Greatest Commandments/The 10 Commandments/Something else. All of the commandments are "summed up" by groovy love! (Is that so? The Council didn't seem to know this, and instead gave those ex-Pagans 4 specific commandments from Torah that were not from any of those commandments you just mentioned. Why?)
- Keeping the commandments is an attempt to be saved by works. I am saved by grace! (The Gentiles were already saved and they had the Spirit. Did the Council not understand that you're trying to be saved by works if you keep Torah? Or are you perhaps wrong that Torah is in opposition to faith, and being saved?)
- Jesus fulfilled the Law! ("Fulfilled". You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means. If you think "fulfilled" means anything like "finished" or "ended", than why did the Council give those new converts Torah to obey? Jesus fulfilled the Law like a man fulfills his wedding vows to his wife.)
- The Council CLEARLY stated that any attempts to obey Torah is putting a burden or a yoke on people which is impossible to bear! (You must not have been listening. If that's true, why did they agree to put a "burden" or a "yoke" on these newly converted Gentiles by giving them Torah to obey? Is there any chance that you're wrong about what that yoke really is?)
--- In Conclusion ---
Now do you see it?
Even if you can't, the number of people who CAN see it are quickly growing. Our Father is removing people's blindness. I hope you're one of them.
If anything about this has made you think that you're missing something by not obeying Torah, let me assure you that you are.
For those of you who generally believe the message of Christianity, but who also feel that there has to be something missing, because it still doesn't make sense (atheists, this means you) than this is it. Torah is the missing piece (honestly, it's more like the other half of the puzzle).
If you want to learn more, consider checking out our new subreddit, and we'll be glad to answer your questions and try to help you learn how to begin keeping our Father's ways.
For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is taught regularly at FollowJesusObeyTorah.
I'll do my best to respond to any questions or comments in this thread, but I'll be generally avoiding anyone that's overly aggressive or who I think is acting in bad faith. That's just the way I roll. Also, please stay on topic. Stay in the ballpark of Acts 15.
May the Father use this article and my entire life to extend His will into more and more hearts, and to ultimately establish His Kingdom, which I pray will please come soon.

Shabbat shalom everyone! Today I’m continuing the most important lesson ever. Many say that Yeshua abolished the Mosaic Law, and that the Old Testament is long gone and obsolete. Is the Law and the Prophets abolished? Let’s put the some of the writings of the New Testament to the test of the Law and the Prophets.
Last week we learned who to follow; and the author reminds his readers to follow those who endure and were tested by Father, the Most High Elohim. The author continues and uses faithful Abraham as an example, who, did endure, and in the end obtained the promise of Father through the patience of the saints. Through his faith and patience, Abraham was made the promise of the blessing to all men and women on the earth through his seed. In Galatians, Paul declares that that seed is Yeshua the messiah. The author also urges us to move past the basics of the faith and move on to greater learning. However, we need to be aware that some believers grow good fruits, and others grow thorns and thistles. Be careful who you lend your ears to! Not every believer grows good fruits.
Again, we can see that looking at the New Testament writings with the lens of the Torah, that the verses become clearer and there are no contradictions. Here is the score far:
The Torah: 15
Doctrines of Devils: 0
Let’s keep sharpening our proverbial spears and swords, which is the Word. Let’s continue our study of the epistle to the Hebrews.
Hebrews chapter 7:1-3
For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; [2] To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; [3] Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. In chapter 7, the author continues his analysis of Melchisedec and declares that Abraham did tithe his 10% of the spoils to the king of Salem, which means king of righteousness. The second title, King of Salem means king of peace. Abraham tithes to the king, even if that king’s heritage and lineage is unknown to him. He declares that the King Melchisedec was “
made like unto the Son of God” and is a priest continually. This story is from Genesis 14. Here we see that the author uses the sound doctrine of the Torah to make his point.
Hebrews chapter 7:4-10
[4] Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.[5] And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:[6] But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. [7] And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. [8] And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. [9] And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham. [10] For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him. The author declares that the king of righteousness is greater than Abraham because Abraham tithes to the king, and the king blessed Abraham as the seed of all who will obtain salvation. Even with the king’s heritage unknown to Abraham, Abraham tithed and accepted the king’s blessing. In the Mosaic Law the Levites do have a command to collect tithes from the other tribes of Israel even if they themselves will die. Then the author declares that even Levi, paid tithes through Abraham because he was still in his body.
Hebrews chapter 7:11-17
[11] If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? [12] For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. [13] For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. [14] For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.[15] And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, [16] Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life. [17] For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Under the Levites, of which both Aaron and Moses were from, the Law was received to be shared with all men and women. Yeshua, is from the tribe of Judah. Those laws are carnal (or for the flesh). Eventually all flesh dies. In the opposite Yeshua is made high priest after the power of endless life. Through the prophesies of King David in psalm 110, we can now see that Yeshua’s appointment as High Priest is now for ever. Does that mean that the Levites and the Law of Moses is written off the books? Not at all. Looking at the words of another prophet, we see that Yahweh will revive the priesthood of the Levites, but with some chosen by himself rather than by tribe. The Levites and the sacrificial system had been hijacked by sinful men, and they were no longer pleasing to Father.
Let’s go to Isaiah 66:3-4:
He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. [4] I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. Many of the functions of the priesthood were done by habit and tradition rather than out of love towards Father. Later in the same chapter Father says through Isaiah that he will pick his own Levites when Israel returns to the land with their offerings:
Isaiah 66:20-21:
And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.[21] And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD. Here we see that when Yah restores all things, the Levites will return to service. The author of Hebrews uses the precedent in the Torah of King Melchisedec (a king and high priest with no lineage) to teach the Hebrews that before the Levites, Abraham had another high priest who like Yeshua broke bread and shared wine with his flock. The parallels between Yeshua and King Melchisedec are astounding, you can read them by yourself in Genesis 14. Does the author abolish the Law of Moses and the Levites? No, he uses Genesis to mention that the precedent had already happened way back in Genesis.
Hebrews chapter 7:18-19
[18] For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. [19] For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. Through the weakness of the flesh, and as we read earlier in Isaiah, the Levites compromised themselves. Yahweh temporarily halted the Levitical services when the temple was destroyed in AD 70, now and until the restoration predicted in Isaiah. Should we disregard the Law because of verse 19? Again no, the law was never meant to make anyone perfect; rather the law convicts a man to know that he is a sinner, and nothing more. It was never meant to be an end all. But the Law did foretell of another, a man that we must all listen to. Messiah is that better hope than the Levites, that time, and time again, corrupted themselves with the desires of the flesh.
Hebrews chapter 7:20-25
[20] And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest: [21] (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) [22] By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. [23] And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death: [24] But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.[25] Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Then the author compares the calling of the high priest Yeshua and the ones from the Levites. He declares that Yeshua’s calling was from an unchangeable oath from Yah himself in Psalm 110. And Yeshua’s priesthood will never end, because he’s the only man that ever made it to heaven’s throne as the firstfuits of the resurrection and he’s the one appointed to intercede for us, in the matters between El Shaddai (God Almighty) and men and women.
Hebrews chapter 7:26-28
[26] For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; [27] Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. [28] For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. The author continues the comparison. The Levite priests must keep offering sacrifices because they continue as sinners being of the flesh. Yeshua on the other hand, does not because he offered himself, the sinless Lamb of Elohim once, and that sacrifice was accepted by Father. Yeshua, our high priest does not have the infirmity of the flesh any longer and was made by High Priest by an unchangeable oath from Father himself.
Next week we will continue with chapter 8.
Don’t take it from me! Prove all things and judge for yourself. Let the spirit lead you where it wants you to be.
Yeshua is our master, savior and rabbi, we need no other man to lead us!
Shalom, VN

2023.06.03 21:23 girl_from_the_crypt Stuck on earth and looking for a job: I'm being recruited by a cult
It’s nice not to be alone. I’ve been staying at Nettie Peterson’s house, tending to her garden in her stead while she's at work. I just sit there reading in the sun, to be honest. When she came back from the larvae today, she was in a surprisingly peaceful mood. Not exactly happy or content, but satisfied. I made us some tea and we settled in to soak up the flowery scents and sweet air. I took the time to tell her in detail about meeting Kit Sutton in the grotto, relaying the other woman’s message. It got a genuinely warm smile out of her; a sad one, but a smile nonetheless.
“Your server texted me earlier to apologize for… well, basically outing me and baring a private secret to my closest friend of five years,” she informed me. “Now that I think about it, I have no idea when or how that boy got my number… Oh, but he was sweet. I told him we were cool.” She took a long sip of her tea.
"Don't forgive him for my sake. If that's what's happening here."
"It's not."
"You really aren't mad anymore? I would be."
"I guess I'm just a very forgiving person." She gave me a sidelong grin and a shrug.
"Nettie, how'd your breeders die? I don't know if this is okay to ask. I hope it is."
"Uh." My savior human took a deep breath. "That, um… it's okay. Just unexpected. It was a car accident. That's all there is to it. I was at summer camp when it happened. Some college kid got drunk, sat down in his car and made me an orphan. I was thirteen… My auntie took care of me afterwards. You know, Elijah's mom. She tried, but it wasn't the same. She was too much for me sometimes, pretty often, if I'm being honest. My mother was so,
so different. Both my parents were. My dad had made it into money, so they were never really worried about my future or what I wanted to do with my life. They said I'd always have their support. I guess that made me kinda sheltered but… I don't know. I had a nice childhood, sue me."
She sighed. "Anyways, my aunt was really demanding when it came to school and stuff. I was always a good student but my grades dropped after my parents' crash, and it never got better. So she was picking fights over that all the time. I did recover over my last year, but no thanks to her, I'll have you know."
"And do you miss them?"
"Of course I do. Who wouldn't?"
I shrugged.
Nettie leaned forward, catching my eyes. "Don't you miss your parents? Or was that different where you're from?"
"Breeders aren't like that at home." I paused. "Weren't. They protected their offspring for the first couple years of their life, but afterwards, everyone went their own way. And it was never more than that, just protection and a supply of nutrients. You wouldn't find any breeders kissing or cuddling their young like people do here."
"Oh. That's kinda sad."
"It's it? I never thought about it. Although sometimes I figure infancy in this dimension would have been a pleasant experience. It's nice being held. I wouldn't have minded it, had I known that feeling sooner." I raised my head to smile at her. "Then again, you've given me a lot in that regard."
Nettie reached out to squeeze my hand. "Baby girl." She said nothing else for a while. "So, what's this about Eli having to get his car fixed?"
"One of the windows got smashed in." I held her gently searching gaze. "Nothing was taken."
"Baby girl."
"Hm?"
"
Baby. Girl."
I groaned. "A folder. With an interrogation transcript from one of the murder cultists. Mary Markov gave it to me."
"And you didn't want to tell me this why?"
I pursed my lips.
Nettie Peterson crossed her arms, raising a brow at me. "I came clean about dating the fishwoman, so you really owe it to me to keep me informed on any magical stalkers you got."
"I don't know that I'd call them a stalker."
"What would you call them?"
"Jewel." My hand absently began tracing lines on my stomach. "That's their name, apparently."
"The creep who hit on you and then disemboweled you?"
"I don't know that they disemboweled me."
"They had to stuff your guts back in at the clinic," my savior human reminded me.
"Stop bringing that up, please."
I feel so weak whenever I think about them. Totally helpless. I took a deep, cleansing breath before settling against the backrest of my chair, grounding myself. Then I unpacked.
I'm turning into a regular unreliable narrator with my storytelling for this blog, aren't I. As you may or may not have guessed, there is another reason for me staying over at Nettie's the last couple days. Maybe she sensed it somehow—she claims to have mother's intuition, and even though she's not technically my parent, I believe her. Or perhaps Elijah Carter shared his suspicions with her. Either way, it's true. I seem to have acquired a stalker. I can't hold down a job but at least I've got that going for me. Let me stay over at the beginning.
The day after Eli and I had talked to Kit in the grotto—referring to her as Princess Chandra still doesn't feel right—I was driving out for gas. The whole time while I was filling up my car, I had this feeling that I was being watched. It was beyond uncomfortable, and I kept glancing into the rearview mirror during the drive back. I thought I could hear the roar of a motorcycle, but whenever I tried to focus on the sound or started looking for the source, it seemed to be escaping me. I double-checked whether I'd locked my door that night. In fact, I triple-checked. I was on edge. It was an eerie, uncanny sensation, like bugs crawling beneath my skin. I made dinner, then tried to sit still as I ate it in front of my television.
I ended up calling Elijah. We didn't talk about anything important, but he was glad to stay on the phone with me while I washed up and got ready for bed. It might have been his pleasing dark baritone or the weary relaxation that always swings along when he speaks, but something about his voice helped me unwind. I ended up falling asleep while still on the call. I was faintly aware of him saying my name and then chuckling and hanging up when he received a snore in response.
I have always enjoyed the transition into the sleeping state. My eyelids growing heavier, the world losing focus, my mind drifting off… It's such a soothing, peaceful process. I've found that I dislike dreaming, though. You never know what you get. I've had all sorts of rattling dreams, ranging anywhere from nightmarish and homesick to sexually confusing. But this one truly took the cake, as they say.
It started with me walking through an unfamiliar neighborhood that looked like an abstraction of my own. It was far too shiny and colorful, and not in an aesthetically pleasing way. I was not really walking either—my feet were heavy as lead, my bare skin unprotected from the harsh breeze assaulting my body. I kept staggering forward, aimless and confused, wishing for shelter but unsure of where to find it. My head was reeling from the hunger and desperation, and there was not a soul in sight to help. I started knocking on random doors, but nobody opened. House by house, I was getting increasingly frustrated. The knocks turned into incessant pounding, the sound mingling with my crying. The tears blurring my vision made it even harder to press on. Before long, I was weeping intensely, my steps becoming more frantic as I continued heading from door to door.
Why was nobody answering me? I could hear people talking in hushed voices behind the walls, I could see their silhouettes flitting to and fro in the windows. Anger began to bubble up inside me, heating up my chest and constricting my throat. My fist became more forceful as it clashed with the surface of each door, until I started to throw my whole body against them. My sobs turned into howls of fury, I was beginning to yell obscenities and outlandish threats before finally, my body started to turn. This wasn’t the silent transition I was used to, however.
I could feel my skin
rip open as it gave way for my tentacles to spring free. Normally, it’s like these extra appendages simply melt out of my body. It’s not painful, and I don’t even really pay attention to the sensation most of the time. But this, this was pure agony. I broke down in the middle of the street, wailing like a creature of myth. How could a dream give me this kind of anguish? I suppose I knew deep down that I was dreaming, and I willed myself to wake up, to emerge from this state…
That’s when a thought crossed my mind. Was this really a dream?
It didn’t seem like one. It felt way too real and structured, almost coming off as scripted. Like an experience that someone had thought up and planned out for me, vaguely meaningful, maybe in an attempt to prove some kind of point, maybe just to terrorize me. The realization had my blood run cold, and that little part of my conscience that was aware of this not being real went wild. What in the world was happening to me? Who was doing this to me, and
just how? And yet, a spark of fight lit up within me over it all. I had to tear myself out of this trance by any means necessary.
For a moment, I managed to push aside the pain and uncertainty, trying to
focus. I pushed against the heaviness of sleep, through the fog of my clouded mind. Apparently, that was enough. The surreal, unnaturally bright world around me grew dark and I could once more make out the familiar shadowy outlines of my bedroom. I was in the present, back in the actual, physical realm of the waking.
The first thing I noticed was that my eyes were
burning. There was a demanding pressure around my brows and lids, and my heart sank when I realized it was fingers peeling them open. My nightlight provided a soft blue sheen that came to rest on a chair that had been pushed up from my bedside, and furthermore, on the figure that occupied it. Their arms were extended, their hands resting on both sides of my face as they forced my eyes open. In the gentle cerulean glow, I recognized the shimmering vast irises of the cultist.
A deep, almost primal fear took hold of me. This was worse than the not-dream, a thousand times worse. The cold that seeped into my bones at the mere sight of them sent shivers running up and down my spine, trickling through my body like electric shocks.
I instantly started thrashing, or I would have liked to; except not a single muscle in my body would respond to the frantic outcries of my frenzied mind. My eyeballs had gone as dry as sandpaper, the painful sting penetrating my vision and setting my senses ablaze, paired with an accompanying feeling of nausea. And yet, I couldn’t help but remain transfixed on that horrid stare piercing into mine. My lips parted a mere fracture of an inch, just enough for me to take in a ragged, wheezing breath that I’d meant to give way to a shout. Not a single sound left my parched throat, though. Still, the cultist appeared to notice that I was awake.
With a sigh, they withdrew, releasing my eyes for me to blink furiously. The moment they averted their gaze, I covered my face with my hands, aggravated tears wetting my trembling palms. “You piece of shit,” I pressed out the second I regained my voice. “You fucking piece of shit…” I found myself unable to form any clear thoughts. My heart was thundering in my chest, my ears were ringing—I was a horrified, shaking mess.
“I didn’t think you’d wake up.” There was genuine astonishment in their tone. “Proper shame, too, I was just getting started.”
“What the fuck,” I breathed, still shielding my face. “How the hell did you get in here? Why… just… just why—what even was that?”
“What, you think doors keep me out? What a very human notion.”
I was slowly beginning to recover my wits, reason restoring to her throne. I squeezed my eyes shut, opening my mouth as my fangs came out. “You’re not getting out of here alive.”
“Calm down, okay? I was just having some fun. I was going to let you wake up, alright?” their disembodied voice came from my bedside. “I’m here to talk, is all.”
I vaguely turned my head in their direction. I knew I shouldn’t even bother, I should rip the bastard’s throat out now that I had the chance. There was something there, though; something in their words intrigued me. Besides, they could have easily killed me in my sleep, so why didn’t they? There was something they were after. I figured I would have to tell Mary Markov about this, and the more information I’d be able to give her, the better. “This feels like a fever dream,” I muttered.
“Doesn’t it?” Jewel asked giddily. “I get that a lot.”
“Speak then, leech. What is going on here?”
“I came to—Oh, will you open your eyes already? I’m not gonna try anything else, I promise. Cross my heart and hope to die.”
“Don’t you dare mock me.” I tried to mask the tremor in my voice. “Either you talk now or I swear I’ll skin you.”
“Okay, well. I’m here on behalf of the Collective. You have one week to report to the warehouse. We’ll have someone waiting there to welcome you. Simply put, you’ll join our cause. But you know, you can sleep on it or whatever. Take your time. I’m sure you’ll make the right decision soon, especially since there’s only the one option, really.”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Part of me considered the possibility of all of this merely being part of another, bigger dream, but sadly, everything seemed to point against it. “What if I don’t?”
“Then we
will come after you and probably the rest of your little found family, too,” Jewel explained nonchalantly.
“You’re awfully sure I’d let you.”
“Yes, yes, you grow big, sharp teeth and tentacles, I get it. You’re a menace. To three to four people. But if you’re up against half a dozen, all armed and unintimidated by your admittedly glorious and utterly terrifying appearance, I imagine things would be different.”
I wanted to offer some sort of confident riposte, but I simply couldn’t. A tiny voice inside my head actually agreed. “So what
is your cause? Or are you aiming to recruit me based on fear alone?”
“Oh, not at all—I was just getting there. We want to, in essence, end all things.”
A brief silence settled upon us. I dropped my hands to lock eyes with Jewel, this time without any hypnotic side effects. They were beaming at me, my nightlight adding an unearthly quality to their bright, dimpling smile.
“What?”
Jewel’s grin grew wider. “Oh, you heard me, baby. We want to… we
will bring about the apocalypse. It’s not going to be easy, and it’s not going to be fast. It’d be a boon if we had another being such as yourself at our side for it.”
“Another?”
Impossibly, the corners of the cultist’s mouth curled even further, their eyes shining with mirth. They tossed their pale blond hair, responding only with a huff of laughter.
“You,” I whispered. “You too.” I swallowed, reaching up to massage my throbbing temples. “Why do you want this world to end? You aren’t native to it, right? But do you really hate it that much?”
“Oh, it’s not that I hate it. I just don’t care for it all that much. Okay, listen, it’s not gonna be a
real apocalypse. It’s just gonna look like it for a moment. And sure, the humans may or may not survive—they probably won’t, not gonna lie—but it’ll be for the greater good, and the two of us are gonna make it for sure.”
I frowned. “What?”
“You keep saying that.”
“Yes, because you aren’t making any sense. I don’t get what you’re trying to tell me.”
Jewel sighed. “Well, I can’t give you
everything. Just… just trust me. You’ll
want to be on our side, you’re gonna want to help us. Again, you literally have no other choice, so… yeah.”
“You know, I’ve been asked to go on a murderous rampage by someone far more attractive before, and I still said no.”
“Oh, you won’t be doing any of the killing. Not much, at any rate.”
“That’s a great comfort to me,” I said, without much sarcasm at all.
Jewel tilted their head at me. “I gotta admit, I
do not get you. I kinda wish I did, though. Anyways, I guess I’ll leave you to it, then. Goodnight.”
“So you’ll head right out now? Just like that?”
They twinkled at me. “Want me to stay?”
“Oh, Lord, no.”
“Yeah, well, if you wanna fight now, I gotta disappoint you. I’m not feeling up to it.”
I wanted to tell them that it was not their decision to make, that I wouldn’t let them leave, but somehow, I thought better of it. Quelling the anger raging inside of me, I strained to keep my tone calm. “What was your home like? What kind of a dimension are you from?”
The question seemed to catch them off guard. “Please don’t ask me things like that.”
“Why?”
“You… just stop.” Their voice had suddenly become brittle and quiet. I’d rattled them. A warm feeling of glorious triumph surged through me like a wave.
“Do you remember what they called you back there? I don’t. Maybe we didn’t even have names, I really don’t know anymore.” I shrugged.
Jewel rose to their feet a little too quickly. Their eyes were shining with moisture, and before they could wipe them dry, a single tear rolled down their cheek. To my complete astonishment, it hardened the second it dropped off their chin, forming a tiny, sparkling yellow stone. They caught it with practiced precision, hastily stuffing it into the pocket of their jeans. “‘Scuse me, I, uh… I gotta go. See you soon.” Without losing another word, they headed out into the living room, and after another moment, I heard the front door slam. The noise of a motorcycle engine revving was carried in on the breeze through my open window a minute later.
I stayed seated upright in my bed, staring blankly at the wall across from me.
Thus ended my retelling of events to Nettie Peterson, taking us back into the garden. She regarded me with wide eyes, her jaw slackened. She then shook her head, letting out a string of incoherent murmurs as she sank back into her seat. “I don’t believe this,” she breathed. “What… what are you gonna do about this? You’re not seriously gonna go along with what that psycho wants from you, right? Have you told the agency yet?”
“No,” I admitted. “And I haven’t been to the warehouse either. My week is not up yet, so that’s probably okay… I really don’t know what to do, though.”
“Well, that’s an easy one. You call this Markov-lady, have her raid the warehouse and arrest every last one of those freaks she can find!”
“But they won’t leave it at that. They’ll come after me. And you, too.”
“Don’t worry about me. I can hold my own.n” lg
“I’m not saying you can’t, but—”
“No buts. I’ll be fine. Both of us will be. And I hope you know I won’t have you going back to your apartment after this. You’re staying here with me, where it’s safe.” Her eyes looked almost golden in the light of the setting sun. “Let's go back inside. It’s time I showed you where I hide my guns.”
I pursed my lips. “Gun-s? As in plural?”
“Oh, absolutely.” She took me by the hand, pulling me to my feet with a melodic hum falling from her lips.
I know I have a lot going on in my life right now, but Lord, am I grateful that this woman’s in it.

- Growing conditions: The taste of dragon fruit can be influenced by the growing conditions, including climate, soil quality, and cultivation techniques. Fruits grown in optimal conditions may tend to be sweeter compared to those grown in less favorable environments.
- Storage and handling: Improper storage or handling of dragon fruit can affect its flavor. If the fruit is stored at low temperatures or exposed to excessive heat, it may impact the development of its sweetness. Additionally, rough handling during transportation or storage can cause damage to the fruit, affecting its taste.
- Individual taste perception: Taste preferences can vary among individuals. What may be sweet to some may not be as sweet to others. The perception of sweetness can also be influenced by other factors like overall diet, palate sensitivity, and taste buds.
If you consistently find that your red dragon fruit lacks sweetness despite considering the above factors, it may be worth exploring different sources or varieties to find one that meets your expectations. Additionally, discussing your concerns with local farmers or suppliers who specialize in dragon fruit may provide insights into specific factors that could affect the sweetness in your region. - Which is better red or white dragon fruit?
The choice between red and white dragon fruit, also known as pitaya, comes down to personal preference as both varieties have their own unique qualities. Here's a comparison to help you understand the differences: Red Dragon Fruit: - Appearance: Red dragon fruit has a vibrant red or magenta skin with green scales, giving it a visually striking appearance. The flesh is typically white or red with small black seeds scattered throughout.
- Flavor: Red dragon fruit tends to have a mildly sweet taste with subtle floral notes. Some describe it as a cross between a kiwi and a pear.
- Nutritional Content: Red dragon fruit is rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, fiber, and other essential nutrients. It also contains betacyanins, which contribute to its vibrant red color and antioxidant properties.
White Dragon Fruit: - Appearance: White dragon fruit has a pale yellow or white skin with green scales, making it appear more subdued compared to the vibrant red variety. The flesh is usually white with small black seeds.
- Flavor: White dragon fruit generally has a milder and sweeter taste compared to the red variety. It is often described as a blend of pear, kiwi, and melon flavors.
- Nutritional Content: White dragon fruit is also rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, fiber, and other beneficial nutrients. While it may have a slightly different phytonutrient profile compared to red dragon fruit, both varieties offer similar nutritional benefits.

This story is true about what my husband experienced one summer in the mid 90’s while working as a grounds keeper at a camp for kids.
It was the early 90’s and at the time my husband, Eddie (just passed his 19th birthday) hadn’t yet decided whether or not he wanted to go to college. He had recently lost touch with most of his high school friends and as such, didn’t have much planned for the summer. So, when the offer to be a live-in grounds keeper at a children’s day camp came his way, Eddie was happy to take the opportunity. He lived in a rural area of Ontario so the camp, surrounded by trees and having it’s own small lake, was both secluded enough to have peace and quiet, but not so far away that he couldn’t manage a trip home on the off days.
While the seclusion wasn’t geographically extreme, once everyone left on Friday afternoons – all the children gone, the day staff back home to their families – the place was actually really eerie. This was magnified by the fact that at the time, Eddie didn’t have a car, and the only phone was about a 20 minute walk from his tiny cabin at the back of the property along a dark dirt path. This meant that most evenings and weekends were spent next to a camp fire or inside the cabin with the door locked listening to loud music and having a few drinks.
Usually, the property was really quiet and it would actually get boring out there with no one to talk to and nothing to do. Eddie once told me that he would pass time by canoeing around the tiny lake (which was more like a large pond) and catching every turtle he could find. He would place them in the bottom of the canoe( with some water and lily-pads so they were comfortable) then once he caught every one he could find, he would canoe to different parts of the lake and put them back one-by-one. So, obviously, there wasn’t much going on in the area.
It was one quiet night however, where despite how peaceful it seemed, there was definitely something evil happening out in those trees and fields.
The night started like any other. It was a warm Saturday in Ontario which meant that the bugs were biting and you could drown in the humidity. It was getting toward the end of the summer and Eddie had gotten into the weekly routine - cleaning and fixing things around the camp during the week days then wandering around the property on the weekends. This Saturday had started off no different that the others. Eddie had done a quick security sweep of the area in the morning to make sure nothing was amiss, then spent the afternoon paddling around the lake catching turtles. A few hours before sundown, Eddie was back at his cabin and had built a nice campfire. He always made sure to start the fire before dark.
On this Saturday Eddie had spent the evening cooking a meal over the fire and reading his favorite Stephen King novel The Stand. He had listened to the weather forecast on the little cabin radio earlier that morning and was aware there was a chance of some nasty thunderstorms that night. He was keeping a close eye on the wind and the clouds as night rolled in, knowing that even this far north, the heat and humidity was known to give rise to fearsome tornadoes every few years.
Not long after he finished his meal, the sky turned dark and the wind began to pick up. Eddie doused his fire and was starting to pack up his book and his dishes when he heard something moving through the brush. He stopped and listened for a moment. The rustling continued, but figuring it was a racoon or a deer, Eddie went about his business – more concerned with the approaching storm.
Once in the cabin, Eddie locked the door and felt a little more secure. He turned on the single, un-shaded light bulb that hung above the sink. The rickety cabin wasn’t much, it had no bathroom and no stove, just a mini fridge, sink, a hot plate, and musty bed. As rickety as it was, it still had a lock on the door and the only window was too small for a person to fit through without a struggle.
Soon, Eddie was getting settled back in with his book. It wasn’t long before the rustling sound he had heard outside returned, but this time it sounded like something was brushing up again the outside wall of the cabin. Still thinking it was just an animal, Eddie tried to keep his attention on his book. The curtains on the window were closed, so he couldn’t see outside, but he knew it was dark and thought he heard the distant rumbling of thunder. The rustling and brushing sound was right outside his door now. He wasn’t sure, but he thought he had heard the handle jiggle.
Suddenly the rustling turned to a crashing and it sounded like two or three people were running away from the cabin. This startled Eddie causing him to drop his book.
“Maybe that wasn’t just a deer after all”. Eddie thought out loud. He stood up and hesitated.
What was he going to do?
Part of his job was to watch out for trespassers and notify them that they had to leave if he found any. Usually this was an easy job. He was only run into this a couple times and both occasion it was a group of local kids taking a nighttime swim in the pond. Usually, he scared them more than they scared him.
Thinking this was probably the case – the local kids having found his cabin and decided to play a bit of a prank on him- Eddie grabbed his keys and his flashlight and headed for the door.
He could hear the wind howling and the rain starting to tap on the roof. Not quite a downpour yet.
He took a deep breath and opened was about to open the door when he heard a gentle tapping on the window. This was obviously not rain.
The hairs on his arms stood at attention. His blood ran cold even in the stuffy and sweltering heat of late July. He was frozen with his hand on the door knob. Not even breathing. Something in his stomach was telling his to remain completely still and whatever he did to NOT OPEN THE DOOR.
After a few minutes, the tapping hadn’t returned. The rain was coming down harder now and Eddie began to breath again. He let go of the door knob and immediately turn off the light. He quietly got under the covers, not even bothering to take off his shoes or put back the large, metal flash light, in case whatever it was that was out there came back. Eventually he fell asleep.
The next morning Eddie awoke and felt no sign of the eerie presence from the night before. He got up and immediately noticed that the storm had passed and the morning sun was shining through the curtains. Groggy and a bit shaken, Eddie splashed some water on his face and began to rummage through the fridge for something to eat.
He was just debating whether he wanted to cook his eggs and bacon over the fire or if the firewood was too damp when there were a loud knock at the door. Eddie jumped and almost soiled his pants. No one had even shown up unannounced way out here on a Saturday.
“Eddie, it’s Jim, your mom’s friend from work. Are you in there?”
Eddie recognized the voice. His mom worked in dispatch for the local police department. Eddie, being a bit of a trouble maker in a small town, knew the members of the force both from family BBQ’s and from his own personal run-ins.
Eddie let out a breath and relaxed a bit, but then it hit him – Why was Jim out here so early on a Saturday?
Thinking something might be wrong at home, Eddie rushed to the door and unlocked it.
“Hey Jim, is everything okay? Why are you out here?”
“Morning Eddie, everything is fine, but your mom sent me to pick you up and bring you home this morning.” Jim looked around the cabin. He was in his uniform and Eddie could make out his cruiser a few yards away. Eddie noticed Jim was subconsciously fingering his weapon.
“I think you’re mistaken Jim. I’m not supposed to be going home until next weekend and Mom said that she was going to come out to pick me up.” Eddie took a step back and watched Jim’s face as he surveyed the tiny cabin.
“I know that was the original plan, Eddie, but we all think it’s best that you get your things and come with me.” Jim stood in the door with the face of a man who was not to be questioned. The hair’s on Eddie’s arms stood up and he had no choice but to agree and begin to pack up his belongings.
As they packed the car, Eddie could have sworn he was a set of shoe prints that made a trail around his cabin.
After driving in silence for a few minutes Jim casually began asking Eddie what he had been up to last night.
“Did you go out at all or just stay by the fire?” Jim asked, his eyes watching Eddie through the rearview mirror.
“I was by the fire, but they went in side when it started to rain. That storm was starting, so I didn’t want to be caught out in it.”
“It must get a bit creepy out there all alone during a storm”, Jim said. That’s when Eddie remembered the tapping at the window and the strange rustling sounds.
“Actually, it’s usually fine, but last night I got a bit of a scare. Just as the storm was starting, I think an animal or something was walking around my site. Probably a coyote or a fox that smelled my supper.” Eddie’s eyes locked with Jim’s.
“Did you see anything?” Jim asked.
“No. At first I thought it was some of the local kids that I had kicked out of the lake a couple weeks ago. Thought maybe they were playing a bit of a prank on me in return, but the rain was starting to pick up, so I decided to stay in the cabin and pretend I didn’t notice.” Not wanted to sound like a wimp in front of one of his mom’s coworkers in the force, Eddie lied about the chills he had experienced.
“That’s probably for the better.” Jim said. “They usually go away if you ignore them”.
The rest of the ride was silent. Eddie drifted to sleep for a little while and when he awoke they were pulling into the driveway of his parents house. His mom was standing on the front steps when they got there.
“Eddie!” His mom called as he was getting out of the car. “Come inside, I have coffee and breakfast ready”.
“Thanks mom, just let me get my things from the trunk.”
“Just leave them for now. Jim is going to join us for breakfast. You can get your things after we talk.” His mom turned and disappeared into the house. A little confused, but hungry from having missed his morning meal, Eddie shrugged and walked toward the house. Jim locked the car and followed close behind.
Eddie sat at the kitchen table and was greeted with a plate of hot pancakes with bacon and a fresh cup of coffee. Eddie began to eat but noticed that Jim and his mom were only drinking coffee.
After a couple minutes of pleasantries Eddie was starting to get annoyed.
“Why did you pick me up early mom? And if you’re home, why did you send Jim out to get me? Mom, what’s going on!?”.
“Eddie,” his mother said his nice calmly yet firmly in the way only a mother can, as she rested her hand on this arm. He stopped and looked at her. What she said next still gives my husband a pit in his stomach to this day.
“Three people were found dead within a mile of that camp early this morning, just as the storm was clearing.” The words sounded distant in Eddie’s ears.
“What do you mean? Like a car accident?” Eddie was confused but starting to get nervous.
“A man was found dead at the bottom of a radio tower a half mile up to road. We don’t know how he got in there, but it looks like he tried to climb it and fell off.”
Eddie’s eyes widened.
“About a half a mile in the other direction, a young man and woman, about your age Eddie, were found dead. The woman was in the house and the man was found in the back yard. They were both stabbed to death. We found no evidence of a break in.” Jim told this part of the story. He watched Eddie to gauge his reaction.
Suddenly Eddie’s pancakes didn’t taste to good any more and he felt a knot build in his stomach.
“So, you came to get me because you were afraid I might be dead too.” Eddie said this slowly and looked at both his mother and officer Jim.
“Did you hear or see anything strange last night, Eddie?” His mother tightened to grip on his arm and looked into his eyes. He glanced at officer Jim who gave an emotionless stare back.
“Yeah. I was telling Jim that I heard what I thought was an animal rummaging around by the fire after I went to bed. It didn’t go away and I thought it might be some of the local kids. I was going to check it out, but the rain was heavy and I thought they would go away if I stayed inside and ignored them.”
“Thank god you did.” Eddie’s mom hugged him and tried her best to hold back tears. Eddie hugged his mom back. His breath shallow from the shock.
Had he almost been one of the victims of this murder? Had the murderer tried to hide out at the camp after brutally slaying the young couple up the road? If Eddie hadn’t gone inside when he did, would he have been murdered while he sat by his fire?
Eddie’s thought were spinning so fast that he didn’t even notice Jim get up and leave. It was a half hour later when his mother calmed down enough for Eddie to realize that Jim had driven off with his things.
“Mom, you need to call Jim, my things are in his car!”
“I’ll call the station and let them know”. Eddie’s mom didn’t seem surprised that Jim had left without saying goodbye. She just went to the phone and called the station.
“Hi Gale, it’s Penny. Eddie was wondering when Jim will be back with his bags.” At the time, Eddie didn’t notice that his mother hadn’t had to explain the situation to her coworkers in dispatch. Wouldn’t they be wondering why Jim had Eddie’s bags in the car?
Jim eventually came back on his way home after his shift. He dropped Eddie’s stuff off, gave him a squeeze on the shoulder, and said “take care of yourself, kid. It was smart of you not to open that door last night.”
It wasn’t until looking back on the incident 5 years later that Eddie realized Jim had come to pick him up for two reasons. Either, after receiving the call about the three deaths, they were all afraid that Eddie, out there alone in the food with no way to call for help, mate the same fate as the poor souls who lost their lives during that storm, OR, Eddie himself had been the one who had stabbed a young man and his wife to death in their own home before murdering a third victim near a radio tower in the field adjacent to the camp.
Eddie isn’t certain, but when he counts the story, he seems to remember when he got his bags back they weren’t packed in the same way he had left them. He is convinced that his mother and the officers thought that we had been the perpetrator of the terrible crimes committed that stormy July night in southwestern Ontario.
They never did end up finding the killer.

2023.06.03 20:57 Appropriate-Ad4657 Holy SHIT (Part 2: The Electric Boogaloo)
Hey team!
After such a lovely response last time, I thought I’d make another post now I’ve finished The Fires of Heaven!!!!! I once again stayed up all night to finish it so these are sleep deprived and slightly incoherent thoughts!!
I’m not going to lie I enjoyed this slightly less than TSR (although it was still excellent, don’t get me wrong!) but found it had less standout “oh my GOD holy SHIT” moments and fewer moments that made me well up with emotion (apart from the obvious one…) so I think I felt slightly less viscerally emotionally connected to the story overall.
I continue to be ASTOUNDED by the attention to detail and sheet level of world-building in this series. I know pages of description of the details of the environment, the clothes etc are not everyone’s cup of tea but it makes the world feel so much richer and fuller to me so I love it!
I have so much to say and I’m terrible at not rambling so BEAR WITH ME (this is long!) Here we go!
1. CAN WE TALK ABOUT MOIRAINE
Listen. Listen. I KNEW this was coming - the foreshadowing was HEAVY…Rhuidean…her desperation, the urgency of her imparting information to Rand, her cryptic references to leaving…my gal knew she was on a time crunch. But literally from the moment she appeared and Rand commented on her looking more beautiful and regal than normal, I was going oh no…oh no…oh NO…OH NO and when it actually happened I was CRUSHED.
I think particularly having read New Spring first, I was SO attached to Moiraine and her story and knowing how much she had sacrificed to get to this point and the dignity with which she faced the inevitable and knowingly sacrificed everything was gut-punching!
Lan’s reaction followed by her letter absolutely broke me (I cried)… You will do well…TATTOO THAT LINE ON ME. Ugh. Anyway.
I assume her letter to Thom contains the names of the Red sisters who went after his nephew but (and maybe slightly out of left field…) I think there miiiiiiight be something romantic there? I’m probably SO far wrong on this that everyone’s going to be like “wtf you idiot” but there’s been a couple of references to her giggling or laughing around him (super rare for main series Moiraine) and then off the back of that, she made that comment about knowing the face of the man she’s going to marry - and my instinctive reaction was oh THOM even though at the time I didn’t know why that was my instinctive reaction- and I thought the whole scene with the two of them in Tear was quite charged and flirty. Hmmmm. Like I said, a bit of a left field prediction but IF she comes back, maybe there’s going to be something there…or maybe everyone is reading this and thinking I’ve gone completely mad…time will tell!
On that note, I don’t believe either her or Lanfear are actually dead and I think both are going to re-appear at some point but I don’t imagine they’re going to have a great time trapped with the Elfin (in my head the Elfin are the foxes because they have elf like faces and Aelfin are the snakes because Ael sounds like eel…it doesn’t make sense, I don’t know if that’s right lmao) for however long they’re there for.
LISTEN. Her letter specifically says that she is “gone” but she doesn’t say dead!!! And she's Aes Sedai, she's SPECIFIC with her word choices for good reason!
And before you all come at me, I KNOW that Lan couldn’t feel the bond but a) we have no evidence that he can feel the bond across whatever land the red door leads to - it was never specifically commented on when Moiraine goes through the one in Tear and b) even if he can theoretically feel it when she’s in A/Elfin land, my personal theory is that destroying the frame effectively destroyed the only (known) way back and it’s the finality of there being no (known) way for her to return which effectively severs the bond (rather than her actual death). We definitely haven’t seen the last of the fox people and I really really (maybe wishful thinking) believe that she’s going to find a way back.
I also maybe read this wrong but we know that Moiraine specifically set up the angreal at the edge of the doorframe the day before she died and at first I just assumed it was so that everything happened exactly as she had seen in Rhuidean. But as she leaps at Lanfear, it says that she clawed it away from her but it’s unclear whether Moiraine is holding it as they go through the doorframe or whether it falls on the ground but I don’t think there’s any mention of it lying on the ground in the next chapter.
I know this is SUCH a small thing but knowing how intentional Jordan is with his writing, I find it hard to believe that not mentioning the angreal in the pages of description of the dock that follow isn’t a deliberate choice.
Therefore, I’m assuming Moiraine has hold of it as they go through the doorframe. We also don’t know if it’s a ter’angreal or a sa’angreal (interesting but I don’t know how much this matters?)
Knowing both how intentional Jordan is and in-world knowing how intentional and prepared Moiraine is, I can only assume setting this up was deliberate on her part. She had from Rhuidean to prepare for this moment and I’m also wondering if her vision in Rhuidean showed her going through the portal, maybe it also showed her a way to get back and the angreal is part of that.
I THINK that the angreal will either enable her to kill Lanfear on the otherside of the doorframe OR is somehow the key to enabling her to come back OR will help her to survive the fox people (or all of the above!)
My alternative theory (that I think is less good tbh) is that the angreal will help her survive +/- killing Lanfear and Rhuidean did show her a way to get back but it has to be done from outside the fox world and the key to getting her back is what’s in Thom’s letter??
I’m also now wondering if going through the doorway with an angreal was why it went absolutely haywire (in the same with the testing angreal interacted with Egwene’s dream one) or maybe that was just both women channelling as they fell through.
Both of my theories go to absolute shit if I’ve failed to pick up on the angreal still being in the real world lmao so let me know if I’m wrong on that!
2. ALVARIAN as Black Ajah!!!
That SHOCKED me! I guess I always thought that her motivations were aligned with her being White Ajah (very logical etc) and that she was, similarly to Elaida, not a nice person but not downright evil. Interesting!
3. I’m calling it now. Verin is Black Ajah.
I had my suspicions last book because this woman keeps turning up in places she has no right to be with weak-ass excuses as to why she’s there but Moiraines letter solidified it for me - why name Verin SPECIFICALLY alongside Alvarian who we KNOW is Black Ajah unless she knows something we don’t?? I’m willing to be proven wrong on this but my suspicions are strong!
4. Morgase!
LOVED these chapters! Rahvin’s compulsion is literally bone-chilling to me. Ugh. I’m concerned that her and Bryne are going to be like ships in the night given he’s now in Salidar and she’s on her way to Kor Spring and they’re just going to keep missing each other!
I love Lini and will be v sad if anything happens to her. She can look after Elayne and Rands babies whilst they’re fighting the Last Battle (I’m KIDDING lmao I don’t think that’s going to happen)
I also like Tallanvor a LOT. The scene where Lini (?) recounts seeing him sobbing and recanting his new oath made me irrationally very emotional.
6. Intrigued by Egwene’s character arc this book.
I…did not love what she did to Nynaeve in TAR…at all. It was…horrifying…and in many ways fundamentally changed how I view her as a character. I partially get it, in that she was teaching the way that she had been taught and whilst it was intended to be terrifying, I don’t think it was necessarily written with the intent of having the full weight of a sexual assault behind it but, particularly as a woman, it was viscerally horrifying to read.
The thing that is the MOST interesting is Egwene consciously learning how to manipulate people and more importantly the thrill that she gets from it. The tipping of the power balance between her and Nynaeve and how they negotiate that going forward is also going to be super interesting.
When Siuan was talking about needing a new Amyrlin who is separate from the Tower and extremely powerful, my first instinct was “oh that’s Egwene, she’s talking about Egwene”. In hindsight, I actually think she might’ve meant Moiraine (and it makes more sense for her to mean Moiraine because after all Egwene has barely been raised to Accepted let alone full Aes Sedai) but I still think my initial instinct is correct and Egwene will become Amyrlin. The character development that I don’t necessarily like is, I think, setting her up to develop the attributes that will ultimately lead to her taking the seat.
As a side note, how are they raising Accepted to Aes Sedai in Salidar without the terangreal that they have need for the testing? In New Spring, training for the testing was a Big Deal and I don’t understand how they’ve raised Faolin without her going through that?
7. I think Nynaeve is going to learn how to heal stilling/gentling.
This is based on nothing but vibes and her sheer determination that she CAN learn how to do it and I think once she puts her mind to it, there’s very little she’s not going to be able to accomplish. Plus it makes sense with Min’s visions of seeing glory for Logain and it’s good for the plot.
Nynaeve’s character development in this book was NEXT LEVEL. There’s a point quite early on where she talks about the joy of healing being enough to bring her to tears and how one day she’ll heal Thom and he’ll dance again and that part made ME well up! I think that just sets up her motivations so well and also encapsulates that as frustrating as she can be sometimes, at her core, she’s ultimately a Good Person and (although not completely) selfless. Her whole arc post Brigette-gate was just some A+ character development and I LOVE that she’s teetering on the edge of self-introspection and actually putting that self-reflection into action which I think is SO realistically human.
8. The cuendillar discs
I found it super interesting the the cuendillar disc broke at some point on Elayne and Nynaeve’s journey from the menagerie to Salidar. Also super interesting that they both felt some kind of “darkness” coming from it.
My current assumption is the malice they’re sensing comes from the Dark One himself trying to break free and my THEORY is that this has a similar effect on people to the dagger from Shadar Logoth, which is why the girls were being particularly snippy and aggressive to each other and their improved mood (which Nynaeve assumes is because they’re forced to smile all the time so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy) actually correlates to the point at which the disc broke.
My other kind of related theory is that one of the refugees is Moghedien (leaning towards Ariena as the one with the most suspicious backstory) and the breaking of cuendillar is related to being in proximity to a Forsaken (although I think this might fall down because the discs that Moiraine had on the wagon are - to my knowledge - intact, despite being in close contact with Lanfear)
I don’t think Moghedien can be one of the Aes Sedai because it would make no sense that she found Salidar on her todd and made it there before the others so I think she has to be one of the refugees. It’s super interesting though that posing as a refugee shows the Moghedien actually has a fundamental understanding of who Nynaeve in order to take the gamble that she would let them on the ship, ultimately playing on her humanity.
9. I still really like Elayne!
I know there were some comments on my last post with people saying she does terrible things but FOR NOW for a very young girl coming from a very privileged background suddenly thrown into an entirely new life, I think she’s doing well! And she’s also still fundamentally a good person!
That said, I didn’t like her flirting with Thom. I get it. But I didn’t like it. Weird and icky. Was v glad when it ended.
11. I like Gareth and Siuan.
That’s it. That’s the post.
It amuses me how much better Jordan is at writing adult relationships than teenage ones.
Gareth/Siuan, Morgase/Tallanvor and Moiraine/Thom are actually (now I think about it lmao) all currently theoretical and have been given FAR less screen time but are FAR more realistic and I’m waaaaaay more invested in literally all of them than eg: Perrin/Faile or Rand/Aviendha
12. I missed Perrin in this book. The part where Rand mentions that he’s probably showing Faile off to his mother and family made me sad because he’s not because THEY’RE ALL DEAD
13. Elayne bonding Birgette as a Warder is SUPER INTERESTING! I love Birgette as a character and I can’t wait to see what Jordan does with her further down the line
14. AAAAH PROPHECIES!
So I initially thought that Mat being hung in Rhuidean was his “die and live again” but now he’s died in Camlyn and been brought back to life by balefire, I think THAT was his “die and live again as a part of what was” which I think makes more sense - particularly the “a part of what was”, referring (I’m guessing!) both to a part of him (his memories) being from the past and to the fact that the Balefire that brought him back erased a thread of the pattern, making it so Rahvin’s actions never existed (“what was”). One prophecy down! Now he just has to marry a Seanchan princess and give up half the light of the world to save the word (whatever that means)!
15. I’m not going to lie…I’m not a battle girlie…all of the descriptions of large scale battles and factions coming from East or West and the tactics used go straight over my head and (this is going to be unpopular lol) Mat leading the battle in Cairhiean was by far the most boring part of the book for me (not being deliberately inflammatory but FAR more boring than any part of the circus plot which I actually really enjoyed lmao) HOWEVER I am psyched that he killed Couladin and psyched that he has his own group. All three of the Two Rivers boys leading their own groups!!
16. Melindra being a Darkfriend was ANOTHER plot twist I did not see coming!! I don’t really have anything more to say apart from the fact that I was shook!
17. Oh this is a random one but I just remembered. Rand is being over dramatic with this whole “I need to die to save the world”. My man my dude. All the prophecy says is that your blood will be on the steps of Shayol Ghul. Conveniently, you have a giant wound in your side that seems to break open and bleed every time you’re in a battle / in proximity to a Forsaken…Sir, no-one is saying you have to die to fulfil that part of the prophecy!
18. Uhhhhhhh just when I thought all the plot twists for this book were over and I could settle into the final pages….WHO (the fuck) KILLED ASMODEAN?! Maybe Fain (because god know where in the world he is right now) but that seems unlikely…I don’t think he’s got good enough motivation to kill him but I can’t think of anyone else! Someone Asmodean recognises which suggests one of the Forsaken??
AAAAAAAAAH!
I desperately want to start Lord of Chaos but I’ve promised it to myself as a reward when I’ve finished doing all the work I haven’t done because I’ve been too busy reading!
PS: to the man who tried to start small talk with me in King’s Cross station (unrelated to WoT, that conversation I would’ve engaged with) when I was reading the last 50 pages, I’m sorry I lied and told you I had to catch my train, I just needed to finish reading! If you see this, I hope you understand why!

2023.06.03 20:39 TranslatorNo8561 Would this be a good creepypasta in 2010?
Last night I had a dream where I was playing Kirby 64 with a guy that I didn't recognize as the player 2, them there was a part where I was stuck in a toboggan and fallen down in a water vortex, them there was a game over animation where Kirby was sucked in the water vortex and old clog shoes where split'em out of the vortex??? (the otther guy was laughing because it was a reference to an old movie) After the game over screen I was falling in the game's blue hell which I was quickly able to save myself from with Kirby flying powers, being now able to come back from the vortex without losing any lifes, I was also able to find those old clog shoes getting the clog shoes copy ability which let me play like in a fighting game.
But them, after I defeated some enemies with Kirby's sick kicks I blackd out and fond myself inside the game completely covered in blood while everywhere near me was covered in ruins and the guy that I was playing with was hiding from me on top of something and them I said these exact words: WHY HIDE FROM ME? GET BACK HERE TO MEET YOUR NEW GOD OF DEATH! LOOK AT THE BLOOD ON MY FACE AND AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK! TELL ME WHAT YOU FEEL WHACHING THE RADIANT INCARNATION OF SORROW AND DECADENCE!
And them I wake up... (maybe I have whached to much gorefield berore sleeping)

2023.06.03 20:29 Notorum [LFG] [5E] [ PAID] [8 PM] [EST] [TUES] Professional Player-Driver Custom Homebrew
All games will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $25 USD per week per player via Paypal. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and any other nonbinary members!
My name is Peyton and I am a full-time professional dungeon master. My focus is player-built worlds. This means session 0s are long sessions where a player can control the aspects of the world around their characters' origins. All way down to your families now - back up to the name, government, and style of the nation that they are from. It is a team collaboration from the ground up. For players joining in games that are already in progress, you will have the same options the original players did as long as you don't overwrite what has already been written into the canon. I currently DM 7 games with 24 players combined with some even opting to play in several games. We have a tight nit community of players, many of which date back years.
About My Games
Tuesday (Untitled Game) 8 PM EST 5 Player Slots Avalible This game is brand new. As a result we will go through a session zero where the players get heavy say over the setting of the game before we ever get into playing the game. The players can design as much as they want before I get started.
Contact Information
First, please note that direct message via reddit is the slowest form of contact for me. You can still do it if you like but it may result in over 24 hours before the response. Discord: PJM#7134
Group Rules
- Be kind to one another.
- We will play as long as 75% or more of the group is present
- You don't play - you don't pay.
- Respect each other's time - and don't be late.
- Three strikes of any rules and you will be removed and blacklisted from all future games.
Services I Offer
- I do this full time so I am always home to answer questions.
- I will be in the Discord server starting 1 hour before the game start time.
- I am a trained graphic design artist so I will be designing both world and battle maps - as well as letters, emblems, and other handouts custom for each game.
- I will run optional 1-on-1 sessions leading into the campaign for a standard fee. These can also be done for everyone during time skips during the campaign.
- Sessions will be 4-5 hours
- 1-on-1 Sessions will be 2-3 hours (paid at $15 USD dollars a session.)
- Server Boosted Discord Server for better audio/video quality.
- Games are streamed and uploaded for future rewatching.
Character Creation Rules
- No character can be more than 2 classes.
- All rules may flex for the player's benefit. If you would like to bend or break a rule, please let me know.
- Most games will start between levels one to three unless stated otherwise.
- Stat generation will be one of several systems.
- Extended Array - 20, 16, 13, 10, 8, 5
- Roll for stats - 4d6 drop the lowest. (Lots of different tweaks to this system)
- Standard Array - 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8
- No custom subclasses.
- No custom classes except the following.
- Blood hunter by Matt Mercer
- Gunslinger by Matt Mercer
- Lingering Soul by Matt Mercer
- Illrigger by MCDM
- Pugilist by Benjamin Huffman
- Spell Casting Modifiers can be changed to any stat. This includes core die for certain martial classes. (i.e. Monk can change the base dice off Wisdom)
- Everyone gets a free level one feat.
- Variant Human is banned.
- Feats must be either 5e or ONED&D official
- The following list of feats have been banned.
- Elven Accuracy
- Gunner
- Backgrounds can be anything and do not have to be logical for your backstory.
- Everyone starts with 50 gold. No more. No less.
- Starting Equipment. (No starting wealth)
- We always roll for HP. The minimum roll is a 2, you will never get a 1.
How I Run the Game
- I tend to think very logically about everything.
- The difference between Perception and Investigation checks is the difference between how specific you are about looking for something. If you are looking for a person in a crowd for example - it's an investigation. If you are just looking for anything in the crowd - it's perception.
- I will use Insight checks to help your PC piece things together if needed.
- We use Discord for Voice (and video which is optional) while using roll20 for the game.
- By default, I don't track spell components unless they have gold value.
- By default, I don't track ammunition, food, or weight (within reason)
- I use Matt Mercer's resurrection rules.
- By default, I do not include homebrew rules other than what is listed above - but some games do have some.
- We are in the process of integrating and trying out the new ONED&D Rules
How Players Impact My Games.
Once a starting group is found we push forward into session 0. This is not your normal session 0. It will be the length of a normal game not just be about making characters. We will first state by asking questions about the settings so the players control the overall theme of the setting. Then we start looking at characters and after that, we talk about any rule changes we want to make for our game. The players also get to make choices about the area they come from so they are more intertwined and natural. Then I finish the setting based on this feedback. Below is a list of questions players should be prepared to answer for this session 0.What time period are we playing in?What level of magic is available in the setting? What level of science is available in the setting? What is the economy like? What is the government like?Do the other planes exist? Many other questions will be asked that may only become relevant depending on what the answers before that are. This is what makes my games special and I hope you would consider joining us.
Application Response:
- Name
- Age
- Timezone
- Experience with D&D
- Experience with Roll20
- Favorite Food
- Add me on discord: PJM#7134
