2023.03.23 19:56 sourdo I had a major breakdown last night, and I feel stuck (major TW - ED, SH, SI)
Backstory: I have an eating disorder. I know all the harm and damage it can cause, so please don't lecture me on it. I just don't want to feel so alone.
I also don't have any real amount of money to move. Rent prices are so high, and my job just doesn't pay enough.
Last night, I snapped.
I fasted most of the day. For dinner, my family and I had the most disappointing food of leftover pork. This fucking pork has so much god damn fat on it. I cut all of it off and I am essentially left with maybe 2oz of meat. I lost it.
I relapsed and self-harmed all over my stomach. I drank and smoked. I binged and threw up. I didn't even binge on anything good, literally practically raw dough that I microwaved đ. I am in so much pain. I hate myself so much.
All my parents are doing is talking about themselves. I only have them. I don't have any fucking friends.
My mom talks about carbs like they are devil. She did this to me. She told me these things all my life. Being fat is a sin. Having a stomach is a fucking sin. The worst thing you can have are touching thighs. Carbs and calories cause it all.
How my parents haven't commented on the fact that I have lost almost 10lbs in the last 2.5 weeks from restricting so heavily is disconcerting. How tf they haven't noticed my irregular eating patterns is beyond me. How they don't notice me stuffing half my dinner portion in a napkin confuses me. How they cheer me on when I run 5mi is confounding. How they don't see how I only wear baggy, long sleeve clothes is crazy. How they don't ask what happened to a quarter of the fridge is baffling. But hey, at least I'm eating right? FUCK no I'm not.
I want to die. I want to die now. The worst part, I am 26 and I feel like I am 16.
I don't have any tools to kms except the oodles of welbutrin and zoloft pills that I've collected from not taking them. Why is it that no one cares until you're on death's door. But even if I was committed to the crazy ward, I'd still come back to this insufferable environment.
Maybe I should send this post to my therapist lmao. Btw, my parents have very messed up ideas about therapy because of course they fucking do.

2023.03.23 19:25 Otherwise-Owl-5740 Lose weight or have a social life?
I feel like I have to choose. I lost a few pounds being strict (and quite honestly miserable). I slipped up and am right back at my starting weight. I'm not talking eating whole pizzas or quarter pounder meals. I'm talking 3 lite beers and splitting wings with a few people. 3 miller lites and 3 wings are literally almost 1000 calories. And even though I was supposed to be out enjoying myself, I was anxious about what I was eating. My slip up was about a month of eating this way maybe twice a week. When I'm being strict, yea I lose weight obviously but ALL I EVER THINK ABOUT IS FOOD AND CALORIES. It causes me so much anxiety and makes me want to eat even more. If someone invites me out, I panic because I have to plan food and/or have willpower. If I say yes and consume, even "reasonable" amounts, I feel like a failure. If I say no and stay home, I feel lonely. Losing weight is so depressing. Any suggestions?

2023.03.23 18:25 toddhoffious 5 Sucky Reasons Why Exercise Doesn't Always Lead to Weight Loss
| Life is unfair. Exercise is proof of that. When you exercise there's nothing more frustrating than not losing as much weight as you think you should be losing. There are a couple of possible reasons for this treacherous outcome: - Eating adds more calories than exercise burns. People often overestimate how many calories exercise actually burns. We humans are super capable survival machines. Running a mile only burns 100 calories. A Snickers bar has 250 calories. The math isn't pretty.
- Counting is hard. Knowing how many calories you are actually burning from exercise is tough. There's no way to know for sure. So you may think you are burning 1,000 calories when actually you are only burning 500. All your careful calorie deficit calculations will be off.
- You rest more. Yes, exercise burns calories, but after a hard workout, you may compensate by not being as active during the rest of your day. Maybe you rest more or take a nap. After exercising, try to keep the same level of activity during the day.
- You eat more. Exercise can make you hungrier than normal. This varies quite a bit by person. Most of the time exercise doesn't make me hungrier, but sometimes I absolutely feel like gorging after a workout. Just be careful not to eat more, or your calorie deficit will disappear.
- Your body conserves calories. Some studies (1) show after exercise your body will conserve over a quarter of those calories by burning fewer calories elsewhere. So if you burn 500 calories during exercise you will only net 400 calories total. This is another one of those frustrating things that vary quite a bit by person, so you won't actually know how your body responds to exercise.
What's the takeaway lesson here? Life is unfair? Yes, we already know that. Exercise is pointless? That's not the right lesson! Exercise is the royal road to health and longevity, but you can never rely only on exercise for weight loss. Controlling how many calories you eat is always the key to weight control. Exercise helps, but you can't out-exercise eating. The real lesson is the importance of developing a feedback system as in the Daily Check-in habit. Everything on your weight loss journey is uncertain. It's hard to know how many calories you actually eat each day. It's hard to know how many calories you actually burn each day. And it's hard to know what calorie deficit will actually cause weight loss. You stand on quicksand when making decisions about your diet. Did I mention life was unfair? That's why you need to make constant adjustments when reality doesn't meet expectations. And that's the job of the Daily Check-in habit. It's where you'll use feedback from your real life to make small incremental improvements to your habits. It's the habit that pulls together all other habits into one powerful, cohesive, whole system. And it's just one of the habits you'll learn about in Habit Driven Weight Loss. - Energy compensation and adiposity in humans

2023.03.22 23:11 Key_Psychology1946 Y'all still track macros?
Discussion question: What kind of dieting style do you guys follow? Is it full calorie counting, if it fits your macros, intuitive eating, etc.? How has it changed as you've gotten more advanced?
For context, I used to track everything I ate in MyFitnessPal. I think this was helpful at giving me the skill of estimating macros, but it's too much of a pain in my ass to keep doing. My bodybuilding goals are important to me but I also like having friends and sanity
Now, I just try to get somewhere near my bodyweight in protein and eat an amount of food that's in line with my body weight goals. I aim for 3 quarters of my calorie intake being healthy, minimally processed foods and then let the rest fall where it may.
I've successfully completed 1 cut, 1 bulk, and 1 maintenance phase this way and I can't imagine I'll ever go back. But maybe if I wanted to get sub 10% bf I would have to count again.

2023.03.22 18:23 hetookmyname2 Does anyone in Canada remember the daily meal discounts from the early 2000's?
Back in the late 90s, early 2000s in Vancouver, BC (and I'm guessing some other places in Canada) there was a daily meal deal at McDonalds. My friends and I are racking our brains and we just can't seem to agree on what day was what meal, also, the internet doesn't seem to have any info on this. I'm starting to think we imagined the whole thing. So far what we have is:
Monday: Big Xtra
Tuesday: ???
Wednesday: McChicken
Thursday: 2 Cheeseburger Meal
Friday: Filet o Fish
Saturday: Quarter Pounder w Cheese
Sunday: Nuggets...?
Again sorry for the non-employee related question! If anyone can remember please post your ideas!

2023.03.22 10:27 No-Woodpecker1342 Eating more and more
(DMs open preferably for girls pls) I ate less meals than usual today, but that doesnât mean I ate less overall. My meals consisted of McDonaldâs and snacks today, starting with 4 pieces of toast and a big cookie. Then for lunch and dinner I had McDonaldâs, a quarter pounder, Big Mac and chips. I still have some eating to do, finishing off the pint of Ben and Jerryâs and chips with salsa.

2023.03.21 22:22 anorexiccat Our cat has been eating dangerously little for a month after a couple of vaccinations
¡ Age: 7
¡ Sex/Neuter status: female/spayed
¡ Breed: Domestic Shorthair
¡ Body weight: 13.3 lb
¡ Clinical signs: very low appetite, jaundice, muscle weakness
¡ Duration:1 month
¡ Your general location: Midwest
My girlfriend and I have a cat, âKâ who had a follow up vet appointment last month for an unrelated issue (belly rash). The vet mentioned she was behind on vaccinations (one for rabies, and a FVRCP booster) and I figured we should go ahead with them. A couple hours later, at home, she threw up her entire breakfast, and afterward, refused to eat anything. She lost two pounds in about a week.
Fatty liver syndrome and jaundice set in soon, and we returned to the vet. She was prescribed three medications: one for her liver, an antidepressant, and an appetite stimulator.
These last couple of weeks have shown mild improvement, with her eating a small amount at least once a day. Her latest blood work also shows improvement in her vital stats. But overall, she is still refusing to eat most of the time and is intaking about a quarter of the calories she used to eat in a day. She barely moves, and has lost enough muscle mass that she sometimes canât jump onto our bed, where she spends most of her time.
We have tried a variety of foods, which include her usual kibble, wet foods, chopped up chicken and tuna, and squeeze tube treats. On particularly bad days, we have to force feed her with a syringe. Itâs taken a toll on our mental health, and Iâm worried she isnât improving fast enough. We will continue to follow our vetâs advice, but Iâm curious if anyone out there has any insight that we missed.
Thank you.

2023.03.19 21:22 yekaneast Feel terrible and honestly guilty right now, need some words of support
Today was Motherâs Day and Ive been maintaining because Iâm very close to my goal. I felt good about it, was on track even with my 800 calorie pizza for dinner. However my family then ordered dessert and I had a quarter of a waffle for 226 calories. This was unplanned and my total came in at 1600. Then I had bites of everyone elseâs food and even ate a wafer to myself which has me at 1680 right now. I feel so uncomfortably full and just gross⌠I felt like I was eating uncontrollably and I donât feel good after eating all that. I just want to sleep. Itâs not like me to feel so guilty normally Iâd just take it in my stride and continue the next day as normal. But the uncontrollable eating feeling has made me feel afraid that after that, Iâm not gonna be able to stop and Iâll gain all the weight back. Can someone just give me a bit of encouragement to get me back in the swing of things. Feel so discouraged. Anything is very appreciated

2023.03.19 20:44 Floolp Weird customer.
This lady in the drive thru came up and says she wants a Mc Value Box. I ask her what she wants and she says âDouble Cheeseburgerâ and I say âIâm sorry we canât put that in the Value Box, however I can put through a normal Cheeseburger and add an extra patty.â She says okay after debating to herself lol.
Next, she says she wants a âdouble Big Mac. Again, I say I canât put that through but I can add an extra patty to a normal one.
Her next order, you guessed it! It was a âdouble quarter pounderâ. I repeat the same thing. She then ordered the last burger which I canât remember what it was.
She decides she wants nuggets. And I say âsure how many nuggets were you after?â And she says âUHMMM do any of your nuggets come in a meal??????â And I say âyes the 6, 10, 20 pc come in a mealâ and she starts going âhmmmmmmmm okay Iâll get the nuggets in a meal!â. And I say âokay how many nuggets were you after in the mealâ and she says âuhhhh Iâll get 10 nuggets please.â âAnd does that come in a meeeeaaall dealll??!!?â. âI repeated again that she can get it in a meal small, medium, or large. She is debating again which nugget size to get and asking if she can âget it in a meaaal dealâ
This order had taken up to 5 minutes at his point.
Then she asks âcan I please remove the Value Box?â. I say âSure, weâre you after the Mc Family Box (i DONT know if thatâs the name but one with 10 nuggets). She says yes. I have to add those burgers again with the extra pattys.
She then says. âCan you please remove the 10 nuggets and put it in a meeeaaaal please???â. And I was so confused and I said âdid you still want the Mc Family Box?â And I canât remember her answer. But in the end, the order went for over 7 minutes and I was glad she was gone.
Itâs not over though!! She came to the cashier window and was ready to pay. The person said âhi is it all correct on the screen?â. And the lady says âhmm uhh noooo why am I being charged 10 dollars for extra pattyâs????â. The person told them âno thatâs â10:1â itâs the meat name. You arenât being charged 10 dollars but only $1 (or something)â. She was still very confused and maustes a manager came. So our manager had to come to the cashier window and tell her she isnât being charged for it. Then she was happy to pay!
