2023.06.07 10:10 Ordinary-Pair-725 25(f) struggling on the inside

Life slowed down again and I feel like things should be easier when they do, but when I’ve had too much free time in the past my trauma decides to hit me full swing and I feel stuck in this frozen state of almost constant disassociation. I forget what I’m supposed to be doing, I forget how to spell words and have a hard time remembering names of things like songs, artists, movies, things I should know especially if I’ve listened or watched them multiple times through my life. I find it so hard to fall asleep and stay asleep, and end up sleeping a lot during the day and I’ve tried things to combat it but nothing is working. I’ve tried reading before bed, setting my phone away, drinking chamomile, taking gummies, CBD, thc, melatonin, sleeping medication (prazosin), I’m unable to truly share how bad things have gotten even to the ones closest to me, because when I do see them I want to have a good/okay time for once and feel like a total burden/failure/useless human being and things are supposed to be better for me now because I’m not living in an unsafe place anymore, I’ve stopped communication from people that were bad for me, I’ve made a couple new friends, I started going back to school and have kittens. I can keep my apartment clean for the most part, but for some reason I feel broken and like I’m unable to complete schoolwork efficiently so my grades kind of sucked and I keep looking for a new job but every job I look at sounds absolutely awful. I am taking my antidepressants and have been for over a year now, I’ve been in therapy(was remote tho and sucked most of the time) but now I finally have an in person therapist that seems to actually care.

2023.06.07 10:03 22throwaway00 Seeking Advice: Navigating Relocation and Home Sale for a Potential Telework Position

I'm currently not working as a federal employee, but have been invited to interview for a position across the country. I'm willing to relocate, but the job doesn't offer relocation assistance, and I currently own a house with a mortgage. To avoid paying both a mortgage and rent, I'd need to sell my house if I accepted the job.
My plan is not to mention this in the interview unless asked directly, assuming that any negotiation about relocation would occur during a Tentative Job Offer (TJO). This situation doesn't seem to be unique, and the job posting states it allows for 80% telework, leading me to wonder if remote work could be an interim solution while I sell my house.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation? It seems like a person eager to sell their house might risk not achieving its full market value. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Those who work in shifts; the students at university who are still poring over books late at night and also the travelers in hotels, at the airport or train station - it is them that we would like to make everyday life easier for.
In addition, we want to act as sustainably as possible and have set ourselves the goal of preventing food waste, because currently in the food industry unfortunately still 30-40% of the goods are thrown away. That's why we "foodjis" are not only food lovers, but also tech nerds. Because only smart technology, self-learning algorithms and efficient supply chains can solve the paradox between freshness, availability and sustainability.
Since our market entry in 2020, we have been able to win around 200 customers throughout Germany. These customers include Lufthansa, Tesla, and Vivantes, among others. In Germany alone, there are more than 100,000 relevant locations for us.
If you prefer fresh and delicious food over "chemical sandwiches", if you like to make people happy in their everyday lives, and if you believe that the food industry needs to become more sustainable, then we would be very happy to receive your application.

2023.06.07 10:01 Friendly-Adagio9256 I'm going back home from college for the summer and feel lonely, what can I do?

I don't really talk to most of my high school friends, so its gonna be just me by myself everyday .It just sucks because this year I really tried putting myself out there in college, and I managed to make some friends, but we're all going to different places for summer.
I just feel really lonely, what can I do? I don't have a car and I'm not old enough to frequent bars. My job is entirely remote so its hard to make IRL friends there as well.

2023.06.07 09:44 StackOfCoin Where should I look for apartments/studios?

Hello! I'm 25 years old and have never moved out of my parents. My job is in Simi Valley and I make about $4k/month gross income. I work overnights, and I only go into the office about 10 days a month. My rent budget is $1400-1600.
I would love to know your opinions on some questions I have.

I have been looking at apartments/studios in the valley, but the rent seems a bit steep. It would be nice to have a shorter commute, but I would only be doing it 10 days in a month.

Do you guys think it's worth finding a place for one person in the SF valley?
Should I live somewhere a bit farther, but cheaper (I'm thinking K-town)?
Any areas you guys recommend?
Should I even look for roommates if I work overnights and have to take calls during? (I work remote sometimes)

Any tips about renting apartment/studios is much appreciated.
I'm stressing over this big time.

In ce domeniu lucrati?

2023.06.07 09:28 LeoPantheraOfLagos How can I effectively interview and assess candidates for remote roles?

Interviewing and assessing candidates for remote roles requires a slightly different approach than traditional in-person interviews. Here are some strategies you can adopt to ensure you effectively evaluate remote job candidates:
  1. Leverage Technology: Use video conferencing platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet for the interview process. This not only mimics the face-to-face interview dynamic but also tests the candidate's comfort level with essential remote work tools.
  2. Assess Self-Motivation and Discipline: Remote work requires a high level of self-motivation, discipline, and time management skills. You can assess these qualities through behavioral interview questions, such as asking about their experiences with meeting deadlines, managing projects independently, or overcoming procrastination.
  3. Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial for remote roles. Look for candidates who can express their thoughts clearly and concisely. In addition, ensure they are comfortable with written communication, as remote work often relies heavily on emails, instant messaging, and project management tools.
  4. Tech Savviness: Remote employees must be comfortable using various digital tools and platforms. Ask about their familiarity with the tools your team uses, or give hypothetical scenarios to see how quickly they can adapt to new technologies.
  5. Cultural Fit: Assess whether the candidate will fit well within your company's culture. Even though they'll be working remotely, it's still important that they share your company's values and can contribute to the team environment.
  6. Problem-Solving Skills: Remote work can often involve solving issues independently. Evaluate their problem-solving skills by providing scenarios or challenges they might face while working remotely.
  7. Availability: If your team works across different time zones, consider the candidate's availability. Ensure they can be present during core team hours if required.
  8. Task-Based Assessments: Depending on the role, consider giving a task-based assessment. This can provide a tangible demonstration of their abilities relevant to the role.
  9. Reference Checks: Lastly, don't forget about reference checks. These can provide valuable insights about the candidate's reliability, communication style, and ability to work independently.
Remember that the goal is not just to assess whether the candidate can do the job, but also whether they can thrive in a remote work environment. Remote work is not for everyone, so it's essential to ensure the candidate is well-suited to this type of work arrangement.

2023.06.07 09:19 wednesdayblues23 What a shit Wednesday.

I had a busy day at work, I had a meeting where a guy was just talking at me the whole time, I had to come up with a plan for a job I wasn’t expecting. I just wanted to go home and talk to my partner about it, have some chicken and garlic bread, and some leftover dessert he made the night before.
Then I got a call around 4pm, 2 hours before I finish. Is someone using my home computer. I checked with my partner who had finished work early, he tells me no. I say no, I haven’t turned it on in a few weeks. They say, ask him to double check. He tells me ok, he had turned it on for 10 minutes. I have to tell this to the IT support, they start to explain some black listed websites were pining the anti virus. I know it’s porn sites, the IT know it’s porn sites, this is not what I want on a Wednesday afternoon. They tell me I need to reset my chrome, ok thanks very much. End of conversation.
Why is my home computer being picked up by the work IT anti virus, well that’s the rule. To remote in and work from home, which is required post covid, we must have a work paid for anti virus on our computers.
My partner is addicted to porn, he has been in therapy for over a year because of this. He has slipped up more than once. It is what it is. It’s not going to be fixed over night. He’s going every week, he’s following the house rules (which is why he was using the computer, no access to porn on his phone).
He came home from work early, made a shitty choice and watched some porn. Not an option for him, but the world didn’t end. And now, because my home computer is monitored 24/7 by IT support (which he knows) he is in one of his meltdown states that he goes into every time he uses porn. No one’s hates him More than himself. He won’t come home until late, that’s fine space is helpful. And tomorrow, he’ll relive it all in his therapy session. Me, I’ll be know by IT as the girl with the parter who watches porn at 4 in the afternoon.
I’m just mad. Mad that my computer is monitored, mad he watched porn, mad he won’t be home for a chicken and garlic bread dinner. I just wanted a nice night, and now I’m here by myself folding all the washing because he can’t face me. Bring on tomorrow.

2023.06.07 09:16 Anniethelab 27F, Sick of Process Engineering, but unsure where to go next

Hello. I keep hating being a process engineer, quitting, and then somehow getting new jobs in virtually the same positions. Since graduating, I have had 5 different jobs with the longest term being only under 2 years. I am currently pursuing another degree in computer science because I always liked coding and I would love to work remote. But, I worry that I will just burn out in a job like that because it will be quite similar to what I do now.
My husband is a teacher, and I always get so envious of his time off when summer approaches. I've always toyed with the idea of teaching, but I've been too nervous to fully commit. (actually I did try back in February/March of 2020. I substituted a few times but then COVID happened) Is it absolutely misguided to choose a field primarily for the work schedule? I think I could enjoy the work and be really good at it. I had some teachers in highschool that really inspired me and made me consider teaching. But bottom line is that I think the time off and annual reset will be so much better for my health.
I've got about 1.5 yrs left on my computer science degree. And I'm thinking of quitting my engineering job to put more energy into school and probe out teaching some more. (Get a sub license in fall)
All I really want out of a job/career is motivation and enough income to keep my house. So teaching would be enough to cover that with the dual income in the household. I need to be low stress; my mental health is volatile if I get overworked. So that's why I think reduced work days or remote work environment will be best.
Any advice for someone like me?
