Truck hit by roof slide avalanche at a rented cabin.
So me and about ten friends were at a birthday party in northern colorado at a rented cabin. When I arrived I parked behind the owner's truck, The next day temperatures warmed up and the roof slid into my truck causing significant damage. He said that he was going to contact his insurance company and get it sorted out. He's been very dodgy and it's been about four months since the occurrence. The way I see it his building that we were paying for damaged my vehicle I know it's a natural occurrence but I'd also no like a beat up pick up truck. Thanks reddit✌️
The video is of the rest of the roof sliding off after the initial slide that hit my truck.

2023.06.03 12:51 fromgalwaytocloyne Hey dude my Providence landlord’s name is Vincent McFarlane and his phone number is 401-439-5130. You have first dibs to spend the summer thinking about if you wanna live there at his downtown Providence property. With C, with me, with dad, with the Fisherman, with Scurius, with L, with P.

If you tell him Patrick recommended you he’ll be like who? Then you can be like Tanner.
I was one of his best tenants ever because I always paid rent 1-2 weeks early. I’d love to help you get into a place of your choice with a roommate of your choices. But it’s infantilizing to think you need my help.
I want to be your roommate if possible, although I just listed out all the other people you might prefer better. The house has 3 bedrooms (2 of which I used as a living room and an office) and I messaged you the address

2023.06.03 12:51 BuzzKir How to create a Wireguard tunnel from a Windows PC to a Windows VPS?

I recently decided to rent a VPS for purposes of setting up my own VPN. Unfortunately due to a noob mistake I rented a Windows VPS. And also I underestimated how hard it would be to set up a Wireguard connection...
Installing Wireguard on both PCs, I read and tried to follow a couple guides on the Internet (dated 2020 and 2021), both differed slightly in terms of what should be in the tunnel config (for example, one guide told to put a DNS in there while the other didn't), and no success either way.
My main point of confusion is the "address" part. What should be in there for the client (my PC) and the server (VPS)? Also not clear on the AllowedIPs and Endpoint, what should be put in those...
So confused, wish there was a comprehensive ultimate guide to do this... if someone can help, or even point me in the right direction, that would be much appreciated.

2023.06.03 12:49 Warcrimes_are_my_job An update regarding the mouthwash incident

To all the people who told me not to worry thank you I was overthinking this. But you all said that my roommate was not being considerate. So I confronted him I walked up to him and said “Hey I noticed That the mouthwash was over 10%.” He said “Grace I did it on purpose I need you to stop all of this and being a part of naziism” I wear an Algiz rune as a necklace he continued “your religion is one of hate and I need to save you. He reminded me of my parents so much I took my stuff and left I got out of the lease on grounds of harassment I am currently writing this out of my friend Laura’s house. She said I could stay permanently at 3/4 the rent I was staying at before to make up for that. I asked him if her husband is okay with it and she said “if he wants you to find another home and won’t help you out he can leave I paid for this home and I say who can stay in it or not.”so I moved in and couldn’t be happier

2023.06.03 12:46 throwra_cowboyman My(45M) GFs(42F) daughter (22F) doesn't help around the house

Been living with my gf for nigh on 3 years. She has a 22yr and a 8yr old. 22yr old brings the little one to school ~3 times a week (on the way to her own school) because their mom works early morning shifts. I offered to in the past, but they prefer this arrangement.
She doesn't pay for anything house-related, no rent, utilities, food (although she occasionally buys and cooks herself food if she wants her own thing), etc. She doesn't do grocery shopping, we do that every week (big loads.) She'll happily use the washing machine, dryer and dishwasher, eat what we cook (but not wash any of those dishes, only when she makes herself something.) She has a part-time job and uses that money for the occasional trip with a friend, most of her own clothes buying and such stuff.
My opinion, which I voice every so often, is that she's welcome to stay here, but she could help out around the house. She's not a kid anymore, she's an adult now and she's capable of doing an occasional vacuum, do the extra dish here or there.
Personally, I think kids can start helping out a little sooner than that(12?14?), so they learn how to contribute, but that's neither here nor there.
Am I crazy?

2023.06.03 12:45 Lara-27 ISA help to buy - should I pull my money and invest into a ISA stocks and funds?

I hope I am posting this in the right section, please remove if I put it in the wrong spot! As a family, we always had a tight budget and never had any money spare to put away for a nest-egg, but since our boys are (mostly) self-sufficient now, we have been able to put some money away on a monthly basis for the last few years. I have been paying it into a help to buy ISA and now have around £9000 saved up. My husband (59) and I (46) were going to buy a house with the 5% first-time-buyer deposit scheme, but after looking at the current interest rates and crazy house prices, we decided not to get a property (at least not to live in).
I have been doing some 'research' into investing and feel that we would be better off investing money into an index fund or similar for at least a decade or so and keep on renting (we are extremely lucky to have a very cheap rental, at about half the going rate for a flat the same size). The question I have is: would you pull the money from the help to buy ISA and invest it all into a stocks and funds ISA, or should I just start a new ISA and leave the money in there because we might buy in future?
This is probably a silly question, but I couldn't find a direct answer as to how investing with a stocks and funds ISA works. Do you put the money in on a monthly basis then take it out again through the providers platform to invest?
And lastly, any pointers on how to grow such a small amount of savings, so late in life, would be hugely appreciated. We are now in the fortunate position to invest about £200 - £500 p/m for the foreseable future. We both don't have a decent pension as we did not live in the UK long enough to qualify.
Any input is hugely appreciated! 😊

2023.06.03 12:42 PrakashGuptapg Surprising Benefits of Video Conferencing Solutions

One of today's most common methods of communication is video conferencing or virtual meetings. Businesses have seen a decrease in travel expenses and an increase in productivity. Additionally, businesses use video conferencing to communicate with clients, partners, and staff members worldwide.
The technology has existed for a while, but only recently has it experienced a surge in popularity as a result of its capacity to offer simultaneous real-time contact among many individuals.
What is Video Conferencing?
The use of audio and visual technology to communicate among numerous participants is known as video conferencing.
Regardless of their actual location, users can participate in meetings, presentations, and other activities with video conferencing solutions.
It's a fantastic approach to communicating with those who are far away. Without leaving your home office, you can have meetings with clients or coworkers who live elsewhere. Because you can instantly share files and screen information, video conferencing also makes it simpler to cooperate with teams that are located across the county or around the world.
1. Increases Team Efficiency
Efficiency gains for teams are one of video conferencing's main advantages. Teams have more time to concentrate on their task because they can travel less. Additionally, more effective communication and decision-making lead to increased accountability and productivity.
2. Instantaneous Communication
An excellent approach to communicating with people who are in various places is through video conferencing. Unlike asynchronous methods of communication like email and phone conversations, it provides real-time communication. People's body language and facial expressions are visible. Additionally, you can view their surroundings, which clarifies their context.
This will keep everyone on the same page and ensure that nothing is lost in translation, making it particularly helpful for business meetings or brainstorming sessions.
3. Increases productivity
Would you rather connect through a video conference and have a virtual face-to-face talk with a client than send them an email and wait for their response? The latter method, using the screen-sharing capability for interactive meetings and webinars, is the most popular.
By enabling employees to work remotely from any location, video conferencing solutions help to increase productivity. The flexibility allows workers to maintain a work-life balance, whether they are in coffee shops, on the beach, or in the mountains.
4. Translation for multilingual meetings
Nowadays, the majority of companies serve customers from other countries, and communicating remotely to discuss business plans and strategies has become customary. Of course, a language barrier is a problem that arises. But there is a fix in the cloud.
Companies can use Skype and Microsoft Teams, which have tools for text or voice translation. It enables communication in different languages by transcribing spoken words and translating them in real time for everyone to hear and comprehend.
5. Saves Time
When it comes to time-saving, video conferencing offers several advantages. One reason is that face-to-face meetings can take longer than virtual ones. People can remain seated at their workplaces and participate in the conference via video chat rather than travelling across the neighborhood or the nation. The majority of us travel for 30% of the workday, so this adds up to a lot more lost time overall!
Choosing from one of the best video conferencing companies can reduce overhead costs by omitting costly venue rents and catering expenditures, in addition to saving money on travel expenses and lost productivity from waiting in traffic.
6. Facilitates the Global Approach of Businesses
The capability of video conferencing to enable global corporate expansion is one of its most significant advantages. A firm can utilize video conferencing to collaborate with other enterprises and enhance customer service, both of which contribute to a better overall customer experience.
7. Establishing a Powerful Professional Network
Create a powerful professional network, video conferencing has grown to be a crucial tool for business professionals. Everything from job interviews to fostering ties with partners and clients to simply catching up with video conferencing companies around the world uses video conferencing.
8. Promotes Better Decision Making
Everyone on your team can see each other's faces when you're all in the same room, which facilitates communication. Because you don't have to wait for your coworkers to respond by email or text, you may have more productive interactions with them. Additionally, you won't have to rely just on one person's opinion because you will hear several points of view from those seated around you. This will help you to grasp issues better and make deft decisions.
Conclusion
Businesses can benefit greatly from using video conferencing solutions in Australia because it increases productivity and efficiency. It is impossible to exaggerate how useful this technology is because it gives workers infinite options for collaboration and goal-achieving.

2023.06.03 12:42 Tiredworker27 Too much Immigration might be good for GDP but its bad for wages

More people = more consumption = more GDP. But it keeps wages low by artificially manipulating supply and demand and creating low paying Jobs.
When employers have an endless supply of new cheap labor through large scale/ illegal/H1B immigration - they have 0 incentive to pay more but rather less. Thats why US and European wages have been stagnating since the 80s (Inflation adjusted) because Immigration keeps continuously increasing since the late 60s.
The vast influx of so many people also outpaces production of new housing units - thus keeping house prices and rent high because the supply cannot match demand.
In Europe for example nearly half of all unemployed are immigrants and nearly half of recipients of social security payments are immigrants as well. This leads to an increase demand in taxes to pay for unemployment benefits etc further decreasing the pruchasing power of workers.

2023.06.03 12:41 vinyl_doodles What shall I do with money short term?

Hi everyone.
I'm in the lucky position where I'll be recieving around £50k very soon and I'm not sure what my options are with what to do with it short term.
I want to put it towards a house in a couple of years so need to figure out what I should do in the meantime.
A bit about my current circumstances.
I earn £40k a year. I live with my long term partner who owns the flat we currently live in together. She has her own mortgage that she is currently paying off and I give her some money for rent/bills. In a couple of years she will be looking to sell this flat and we'll buy a house together.
I currently have about £1.5k on a credit card that doesn't incur any interest for 12 months and about £9k in an easy access saver.
I have about £2k in a stocks and shares LISA with moneybox and I put £25 per week into this. I don't qualify to use this for a house because I have owned one previously with an ex. I just wanted to experiment with S&S and maybe save a bit for retirement. I like to compartmentalize my money so putting stuff into different pots for different things helps me stay organised.
I also have a Vanguard S&S ISA with another £2k in that I add £100 to per month. 100% of these investments are in the FTSE Global All Cap Index Fund.
So, I'm thinking that because I'm hoping to buy a house in a year or 2 I should just stick all the money I'm getting in the highest rate instant access savings account I can find. Or maybe a 1 year bond if the rate is better. I know I'll pay some tax on the interest (which does annoy me) but I can't put it all in an ISA and don't think it's worth the hassle splitting it up in to an ISA and other savings account. Especially as I'm assuming I would then no longer be able to add to my current S&S ISAs?
Are there other options I've not considered?

2023.06.03 12:40 SnooDonuts3511 Should I move countries?

Hi all!
I’m a 32 year old guy who has lived in Dublin, Ireland almost all his adult life. I’m fond of the place but since college I’ve gone through phases of itchy feet. The thing is, I wound up missing the boat to move away in my 20s - first I decided to qualify as an accountant, telling myself I’d move after. After that I fell in love and she had stuff to do here, so I wound up staying again. Unfortunately neither of those things wound up working out. And then of course, the pandemic hit!
I’m doing better generally now. I’ve gotten out of accounting and I work in libraries. I have a community, do comedy, and I get to write (which I always dreamed of doing). But I’ve got itchy feet again. I feel like I gave my 20s to the corporate world and it just made me miserable, so whatever I do with the rest of my life I want it to be different, ideally creative.
I’m in a really fortunate place in that I own my apartment in Dublin, so I’m thinking about maybe renting it out and getting away from here for a couple years to have some different experiences, meet some new people, hopefully keep writing and performing. I don’t ever plan to have kids, so I’m hoping that gives me a certain amount of leeway in terms of finances / the ticking clock. But I’m dithering.
Ideally I’d like to go to a big cultural center. I like big cities, but the US immigration process is bonkers so that’s out. I do sometimes think about London, but I don’t hear great things in terms of cost. Also it seems to have taken a bit of a hit since Brexit? The other places I’m currently considering are Berlin and Edinburgh.
If anyone has any thoughts or experiences with any of these places I’d love to hear them! Or just advice generally. I realise I may come off a bit naive or a dreamer in this, but I just feel stuck and I need to do something.
Thanks a mil!

2023.06.03 12:37 bored-artstudent Trip to the Highlands

My boyfriend and I will be staying in Scotland for roughly a week in August. We’re doing Interrail, so we didn’t rent a car. We’re staying in Glasgow and Edinburgh for three days each.
I would love to spend one day in nature either hiking or just going on a long walk, maybe bathe in a lake if that’s an option. But since we don’t have a car I was wondering what would be suitable by public transportation (if it’s reliable) or if there are car sharings / car hires that are not very expensive (something like 50-60 quid a day). We’re in our early 20s and have been driving for three years.
If you have any suggestions it would mean the world, I’ve been missing Scotland so so much <3 Cheers

2023.06.03 12:29 Basic_Ad_5850 I hate my mother in law

My husband and I moved back to where he is from and I left my family and moved across the country to be with him. Because we have dogs and he didnt want to pay rent anymore and wanted to just buy and pay the mortgage, we decided to stay with his mom. The house market has been pretty competitive, and we were having a hard time getting a house, so we we are staying longer than expected. At the beginning, my relationship with his mom was great, she was nice, we talked and all until I started school online again. I was more time in my room because I had to do homework and could not be outside all day talking to her like before, plus I started noticing she liked to talk bad about everyone. One day, my sister in law texts my husband saying his mom was talking bad about me with her and that she already knew how their mom was and that she felt bad for me. My husband told me and I started resenting her. When I dont like someone my face will show it. She started making passive aggressive comments and we recently came on vacation. I was in the hot tube with my brother in law's girlfriend drinking wine and she just opens the door and tells us sarcastically that we looked so great being there. I was super confused and just ignored her. I noticed she wont eat anything I make, or she will not seat near me. I am at a point where I ignore her, but I cant help making faces when she is around. Do you guys have any advice? I told my husband and he is practically saying, I know it sucks but thats the way she is please suck it up.

2023.06.03 12:29 QuiGonJim29 Capital Gains Tax Property

Hi all, I have a question around calculating CGT on a property. Below is a timeline of events for reference.
  1. We bought this property in 2016 for 237k.
  2. Spent about 30k in renovations.
  3. We had the property revaluated in 2021 at 495k - 530k and took out some equity to purchase another home.
  4. Purchased a new home in 2022 , moved in June and rented out the old property.
  5. We decided to sell the property after 10 months of renting.
  6. We have just signed a sale contract for the old property at 478k.
I understand the basics of calculating CGT. But Is it based off the original purchase price of 237k or the banks evaluated priced of 495k at the time it was turned into an investment?
I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.
