2023.06.03 12:37 Yakunigku Not that this is super important or anything, but my tv mount was meant for studs that were spaced 16” apart, my studs were 18 1/4”. I ended up drilling holes in the frame (there’s about a quarter inch of space from the edge of the frame where the hole is) and made it fit.

First time having a male with the ladies and they didn’t waste any time. First clutch I floated in a Tupperware container on top of tank with air holes- too much water got into the holes and that clutch was lost.
Now two more clutches that I’ve let stay on the tank lid. It’s been about 16 days now and they haven’t hatched. They have hardened and turned a bit darker and you can see white round shapes on the inside of some of the eggs (baby snails ???). There’s no smell to them. Water level is ~3 inches lowered from the lid of the tank and their heater is kept at 77°.
What’s the probability that they still hatch ?

My oldest just turned 3. He was born with severe symmetrical IUGR. He was born at 38 weeks gestation, but was only 3lbs 1oz and 16 inches long.
"Tiny peanut" has always been VERY fitting. Now, we never found out why the IUGR occurred, but through all of the extensive testing that has been done over the years, we know 2 things:
So, now we're talking growth hormones. We're taking him to get a bone age study (x-ray) next week and we're going from there, but the endocrinologist thinks he's a candidate for growth hormones.
To kind of paint a picture of how small this child is, he is 3 and 32 inches tall, whereas his 13 month old brother is 28 inches.
He does gain weight and grow the expected amount, but he's so small because of his tiny start. He's not on the charts for height.
I haven't asked too much about what the treatment looks like when it comes to growth hormones, since we haven't had to make the decision yet, but I started to look into it since it may be a decision we have to make soon.
I know that after some testing we can get a predicted adult height and there is going to be a lot of questions later on, but I'm starting to mull this over now.
Does anyone here have any experience with this? It looks like it's a nightly injection until he goes through puberty. Symptoms are hard to figure out since it depends so much. I know all of this is predictions and guesses and there are so many variables.
I want to do what's best for my boy and part of that is understanding that being short can negatively effect him, or he could have confidence and not care. One of the great unknowns of parenting, haha. It's tough because the sooner the start, the better, but he also can't really give us his own input on this right now in respect to the gravity and longevity of the "issue."
So, my questions:
If anyone has gone through this, what made you do the hormones or not?
What are the side effects?
What did the cost look like?
Pros? Cons? Words of wisdom?
Do you wish you had gotten growth hormones? Why, or why not?
I want to say "to heck with it, he's perfect how he is," and he is, but the world is not a nice place and I've met some short men who wished they were taller and some short men who didn't miss a beat because of it.
I know some people WILL say, to heck with the bullies and societal opinions, and I feel you, but I also worry about how he'll be treated if he's short, you know?

2023.06.03 07:29 Basic_Commercial_806 How Darvin Ham cost Lakers a trip to the Finals
Darvin Ham's coaching showed improvement as Lakers went further along in the playoffs. Each round he made adjustments to opponents and found success. Against the Grizzlies he shortened the rotation to cut Beasley and Brown out and matched AD's minutes with JJJ. The Warriors he put Schroder in the starting lineup and cut Vando out to match their small ball. The Nuggets series is where he went completely wrong.
Anyone can tell Nuggets are the biggest team in the nba. They have 3 guys 6'8 6'10 6'11 in their starting lineup. Jokic is an expert at exploiting mismatches not only for himself, but for his teammates too. If there was any series that called for bigger players in the Lakers rotation, it's this one.
In Game 1, Ham started the same 3 guard lineup from the Warriors series, which most knew was a bad idea. Nuggets predictably got off to scorching start with Gordon, MPJ bullying their smaller matchups and Jokic destroying Lakers on the boards. By halftime Nuggets were up 20 and Jokic outrebounded the entire Lakers team 16:15! Ham goes back to that same lineup in the 3rd and Nuggets maintain their 20+ pt lead to the end of the quarter. Definition of insanity
Lakers made a comeback in the 4th and brought the deficit to 3, but they lost the game by one possession. The lineup Lakers had during the run was SchrodeReaves/Rui/Lebron/AD. Nuggets offense went cold in part due to an interesting defensive adjustment. Rui guarded Jokic, while AD helped off Gordon. Rui held his own during this stretch, bodying Jokic and AD causing turnovers. This adjustment gets memed a lot, but I think the takeaway was playing bigger led to Lakers closing the gap. And AD in help position is still a problem for opponents.
Game 1 was the perfect opportunity for Lakers to steal one. Ham gave the Lakers no chance from the beginning with the 3 guard starting lineup. It became clear to Lakers fans that Rui should be starting, not for his defense on Jokic but to match Denver's size. AD, Reaves and Rui shined. Dlo shot 36%, a team low -25 and was being targeted on defense by the Nuggets. A good coach pays attention to those things and changes lineups/adjusts minutes accordingly.
Ham returned to the Dlo/Reaves/Vando/Lebron/AD starting lineup in Game 2. It was still an improvement over game 1. Lakers got off to a good start in 1st quarter and were able to take an early 10+ pt lead in the 2nd. Rui continued to be a matchup problem for the Nuggets, as he went 17 points on perfect 7/7 from the field in first half. Again, a good coach would recognize this and reward him with starting the second half. Riding the hot hand was one of Ham's biggest problems all season. Lakers still had a lead throughout the 3rd, mostly due to Vando's defense on Jamal Murray. He only had 14 points by the end of the 3rd.
The 4th quarter of Game 2 was where Ham made his second biggest mistake of the series. He took Vando out at the start and Murray proceeded to destroy the Lakers for 23 points in the quarter. What was telling was how easy it looked. Murray was simply shooting right over Schroder contests and backing him down for high percentage shots at the basket. Despite that explosion Lakers still lost by a couple of possessions. Draymond Green also commented on this in his podcast after Game 2, Schroder cannot guard Murray. There's a 3 inch height and 45 pound weight difference between them lol. Other than Vando, Troy Brown should've been next in line to guard Murray. Ham wasn't willing to try the 6'6 SG/SF ideal for this type of matchup which was baffling. Dlo shot 38% and was again a team low -16.

He was in Game 1, but after he was running on fumes due to all physicality invovled with guarding an elite big like Jokic. Nuggets also made it a point to involve AD in many actions as well. In 2020 Lakers had Dwight Howard to take on the hits from Jokic, so that AD didn't have to. It gave AD relief and allowed to him to be impactful on offense and defense. I think Ham should've tapped into both Thompson and Wenyan to preserve Lebron and AD and use all 6 fouls if he had to.
TLDR: Darvin Ham made every mistake a coach could against the Nuggets. In a series where every game was decided by a few points, those mistakes directly led to losses.

Vando and Troy Brown are the only players who can guard Murray. Schroder wasn't needed much in this series. The starting lineup should've been Reaves/Troy/Rui/Lebron/AD.
3- The biggest liability on the Lakers (offensively and defensively) Dangelo Russell was given 25+ minutes for 3 games straight. He was -53 on and +25 off across those 3 games. Any rational coach would've DNP'd him by Game 3. Ham allowed him to play 20 min in Game 3 and he was very costly in every single minute. Murray also got off to a hot start targeting him for easy buckets.
4- He refused to play his best players together. Reaves/Rui/Lebron/AD were Lakers 4 best players all series and Ham waited until game 4 to start them together.
5- Not playing Tristan Thompson and Wenyan Gabriel more from the beginning of the series. They aren't the ideal centers for playoff ball. However they were both needed to give AD and to lesser extent Lebron a breather. AD's offense took a huge dip after Game 1 and that's not a coincidence. The physicality of Jokic (post-ups and battling for boards) left AD burned out by Game 4. Tristan Thompson was surprisingly effective in the minutes he played, but again Ham waited until Lakers were down 0-3 to play him.

Anyone can tell Nuggets are the biggest team in the nba. They have 3 guys 6'8 6'10 6'11 in their starting lineup. Jokic is an expert at exploiting mismatches not only for himself, but for his teammates too. If there was any series that called for bigger players in the Lakers rotation, it's this one.
In Game 1, Ham started the same 3 guard lineup from the Warriors series, which most knew was a bad idea. Nuggets predictably got off to scorching start with Gordon, MPJ bullying their smaller matchups and Jokic destroying Lakers on the boards. By halftime Nuggets were up 20 and Jokic outrebounded the entire Lakers team 16:15! Ham goes back to that same lineup in the 3rd and Nuggets maintain their 20+ pt lead to the end of the quarter. Lakers made a comeback in the 4th and brought the deficit to 3, but they lost the game by one possession. The lineup Lakers had during the run was SchrodeReaves/Rui/Lebron/AD. Nuggets offense went cold in part due to an interesting defensive adjustment. Rui guarded Jokic, while AD helped off Gordon. Rui held his own during this stretch, bodying Jokic and AD causing turnovers. This adjustment gets memed a lot, but I think the takeaway was playing bigger led to Lakers closing the gap. And AD in help position is still a problem for opponents.
Game 1 was the perfect opportunity for Lakers to steal one. Ham gave the Lakers no chance from the beginning with the 3 guard starting lineup. It became clear to Lakers fans that Rui should be starting, not for his defense on Jokic but to match Denver's size. AD, Reaves and Rui shined. Dlo shot 36%, a team low -25 and was being targeted on defense by the Nuggets. A good coach pays attention to those things and changes lineups/adjusts minutes accordingly.
Ham returned to the Dlo/Reaves/Vando/Lebron/AD starting lineup in Game 2. It was still an improvement over game 1. Lakers got off to a good start in 1st quarter and were able to take an early 10+ pt lead in the 2nd. Rui continued to be a matchup problem for the Nuggets, as he went 17 points on perfect 7/7 from the field in first half. Again, a good coach would recognize this and reward him with starting the second half. Riding the hot hand was one of Ham's biggest problems all season. Lakers still had a lead throughout the 3rd, mostly due to Vando's defense on Jamal Murray. He only had 14 points by the end of the 3rd.
The 4th quarter of Game 2 was where Ham made his second biggest mistake of the series. He took Vando out at the start and Murray proceeded to destroy the Lakers for 23 points in the quarter. What was telling was how easy it looked. Murray was simply shooting right over Schroder contests and backing him down for high percentage shots at the basket. Despite that explosion Lakers still lost by a couple of possessions. Draymond Green also commented on this in his podcast after Game 2, Schroder cannot guard Murray. There's a 3 inch height and 45 pound weight difference between them lol. Other than Vando, Troy Brown should've been next in line to guard Murray. Ham wasn't willing to try the 6'6 SG/SF ideal for this type of matchup which was baffling. Dlo shot 38% and was again a team low -16.

Buckle up, this one is a weird one. Since me (24f) and my husband (26m) have moved into our apartment 8 months ago, I have been finding random blood splattering on the walls, cabinets, and floors around our toilets, and once even our bathroom mirror. They’re usually tiny droplets but sometimes they get smeared on the walls or floor, I assume when they’re fresh/wet.
I know that the first suspect would be menstruation blood, however I have not had a period in 2 years thanks to my birth control.
I first noticed it about 3 or 4 months ago. I’ve asked my husband about it and the first few times he would tell me that he had no clue where it came from or how it got there. But after I would clean it up and new ones would appear, I kept would ask him again. Eventually he told me that sometimes when he blows his nose, his nose bleeds and it could be from that. I partially accepted that answer, however I can’t recall a single time where I’ve blown my nose and missed the tissue so much that my snot sprayed all around me? I also mentioned to him that your nose is not supposed to bleed when you blow it and maybe he should see an ENT to see what’s up but he refuses and says it’s fine.
So the cycle continues. I clean up blood droplets and they reappear around our toilets in a matter of days. When I mention them he gets frustrated and short with me and doesn’t want to talk about it. He has doubled down on the “it’s from blowing my nose” thing but I still can’t imagine how 1) he blows his nose so terribly that it sprays snotty blood in every direction and 2) his nose bleeds every day and he’s not concerned about it?
I recently asked him if his nose has always done that. I previously dated somebody with a “thin nose lining” and they once got a massive nose bleed from me doing the “got your nose” thing so I know it’s possible. But he said no, he “doesn’t think” it’s been like that always and then he pressured me to stop the conversation. Also, I would never find blood in our previous house’s bathrooms and we lived there for 4 years.
I’ll add that we have a regular sex life and I’ve seen basically every inch of him and there’s no sign of any cuts or trauma anywhere.
I’m sick of cleaning up blood and I’m also repulsed by the idea that he doesn’t know how to blow his nose without spraying bloody mucous everywhere. I’m also very concerned for him if he really has new nosebleeds every day, as a friend from high school had this happen and he ignored it and it ended up being cancer in his sinus cavities.
So here I am, asking Reddit, what the heck is going on? Is he lying to me? Is it really his nose? If so, why is he suddenly bleeding every day? Why is he so defensive about it? What is going on?!
Edit to answer some FAQs:
• Yes we have pets but the blood shows up only bathrooms, including the guest en suite where the pets are not allowed ever. Those rooms are closed off. No blood anywhere where the pets are allowed.
• I am in control of finances and there is no money missing ever. Both our direct deposits go into our joint account. He has a credit card but the only checking account he has is our joint one.
• He does have hemorrhoids but so do I (thanks Crohns Disease!) and I’ve never gotten blood anywhere but the toilet
• He gets medical anxiety and this could be why he is defensive bc he should probably see a doctor
• He told me that when he goes to the bathroom at night he doesn’t turn any lights on so that he doesn’t wake me (I’m a light sleeper) and when he blows his nose he doesn’t see the blood since it’s dark. He does have pretty bad allergies.
• He has had no behavioral changes since this started

“For those suggesting drugs:
I am not dismissing you. I’m getting shamed for “ignoring” the comments suggesting it’s drugs but I’m still absorbing the possibility that it might be and I need TIME. I also can’t just willy-nilly accuse my husband of doing drugs without hard evidence because if I did and he isn’t doing drugs then that’ll put a huge strain on our relationship. If my husband accused me of shooting up in my spare time without evidence I would be pissed. Again, I’m not ignoring you or dismissing your theories, I’m just taking my time because that’s a shocking thing and I need to process the possibility.
So if he were hiding drugs in our tiny apartment, where should I look? I checked inside the toilets. I pulled apart every drawer. Our ceilings are too high for either of us to reach. If you have experience with addiction or living with someone with addiction, please guide me to finding more evidence.”

An update some (probably very few) have been waiting for:
We solved the case of the bloody bathroom.
Now, I know that there will inevitably be some users who truly believe that my husband is discreetly hiding a drug problem despite this update and harass me about it, so I will be no longer using this account after it’s posted.
To preface, I received about 10 DM’s that offered to send pictures of what their, or a loved one’s, blood evidence of shooting up or snorting looked like and I was thankful that literally none of it looked like what I was finding. Those photos, the lack of gaps in our finances, no history of unexplainable personality changes, as well as the fact that I cleaned/searched every inch of our 800-square-foot apartment and found nothing suspicious, solidified my conclusion that it wasn’t drugs. I am pleased to announce that my husband… is just gross.
Before I continue, I’d like to thank those who sent me photos and personal anecdotes of their or their loved one’s drug use and I wish you all peace and good health in your lives.
So obviously it’s been a few months since my post. In that time, I was harassed in my DMs with people calling me ignorant, some suggesting that I divorce my husband based on this wild possibly that he might be using hard drugs. Firstly, if my husband had a drug problem, I wouldn’t leave him lol I’d want to help him; I love him and addiction is a disease and he would need support.
But alas, I found myself searching dark corners of cabinets and furniture crevices for secret drug-hiding spots and found nothing. I sat him down for yet another conversation about the blood and he reassured me he was having nighttime nose bleeds and promised that he would turn on the lights from then on to make sure he cleaned it up because I did not deserve the burden of doing so for him. He lived up to his promise and after that conversation I noticed he was turning the light on when he went to blow his nose at night and the blood drops stopped appearing.
Fast forward to two weeks ago, I was on Instagram and came across a reel that was titled “Signs you’re using your nasal spray wrong”. The very first “sign” was new, unrelenting nose bleeds. The metaphorical lightbulb over my head illuminated, as I remembered that since we moved to a new part of the state, my husband’s allergies have been worse and he started taking flonaise to control it. The time of the blood appearing was about a week and a half after he started taking the nasal spray. I know this because he uses my prescription ever since flonaise came out with a pill version that I like better.
As soon as he came home I showed him the video I saw, which also demonstrated how to properly use nasal sprays (YOU HAVE TO TILT IT!!! NOT shoot it straight up!!!). He took a week off of the flonaise to “reset” his sinuses and last week started using it again, the correct way. And holy cow. He stopped snoring. His voice sounds different. His nose stopped whistling. And thank the lord, he stopped having midnight nose bleeds.
No more blood, but also no more paranoia on my part and he can properly breathe out of his nose for the first time we moved here.
You may be wondering why he didn’t see a doctor when the nosebleeds started, its because we are poor and he has medical anxiety.
But yeah. Case solved!

So the cycle continues. I clean up blood droplets and they reappear around our toilets in a matter of days. When I mention them he gets frustrated and short with me and doesn’t want to talk about it. He has doubled down on the “it’s from blowing my nose” thing but I still can’t imagine how 1) he blows his nose so terribly that it sprays snotty blood in every direction and 2) his nose bleeds every day and he’s not concerned about it?
I recently asked him if his nose has always done that. I previously dated somebody with a “thin nose lining” and they once got a massive nose bleed from me doing the “got your nose” thing so I know it’s possible. But he said no, he “doesn’t think” it’s been like that always and then he pressured me to stop the conversation. Also, I would never find blood in our previous house’s bathrooms and we lived there for 4 years.
I’ll add that we have a regular sex life and I’ve seen basically every inch of him and there’s no sign of any cuts or trauma anywhere.
I’m sick of cleaning up blood and I’m also repulsed by the idea that he doesn’t know how to blow his nose without spraying bloody mucous everywhere. I’m also very concerned for him if he really has new nosebleeds every day, as a friend from high school had this happen and he ignored it and it ended up being cancer in his sinus cavities.
So here I am, asking Reddit, what the heck is going on? Is he lying to me? Is it really his nose? If so, why is he suddenly bleeding every day? Why is he so defensive about it? What is going on?!
Edit to answer some FAQs:
• Yes we have pets but the blood shows up only bathrooms, including the guest en suite where the pets are not allowed ever. Those rooms are closed off. No blood anywhere where the pets are allowed.
• I am in control of finances and there is no money missing ever. Both our direct deposits go into our joint account. He has a credit card but the only checking account he has is our joint one.
• He does have hemorrhoids but so do I (thanks Crohns Disease!) and I’ve never gotten blood anywhere but the toilet
• He gets medical anxiety and this could be why he is defensive bc he should probably see a doctor
• He told me that when he goes to the bathroom at night he doesn’t turn any lights on so that he doesn’t wake me (I’m a light sleeper) and when he blows his nose he doesn’t see the blood since it’s dark. He does have pretty bad allergies.
• He has had no behavioral changes since this started

I am not dismissing you. I’m getting shamed for “ignoring” the comments suggesting it’s drugs but I’m still absorbing the possibility that it might be and I need TIME. I also can’t just willy-nilly accuse my husband of doing drugs without hard evidence because if I did and he isn’t doing drugs then that’ll put a huge strain on our relationship. If my husband accused me of shooting up in my spare time without evidence I would be pissed. Again, I’m not ignoring you or dismissing your theories, I’m just taking my time because that’s a shocking thing and I need to process the possibility.
So if he were hiding drugs in our tiny apartment, where should I look? I checked inside the toilets. I pulled apart every drawer. Our ceilings are too high for either of us to reach. If you have experience with addiction or living with someone with addiction, please guide me to finding more evidence.”

So we do have pets including a dog however I find the blood in both our master bathroom as well as our guest en suite bathroom and the pets aren’t allowed in the guest area. We keep them all shut off..

What sort of frequency does this occur? I'd ask to see how he blows his nose, that way you know a) if it's actually from his nose and b) if it is his nose then you'll see how he's getting it everywhere.OOP replied
I rage clean the blood at least once a week which means it all appears within a week..
Also in the 6 years we have been together, I’ve never seen him blow his nose aside from the one time he had a sinus infection. And it wasn’t bloody, and it didn’t spray everywhere.

An update some (probably very few) have been waiting for:
We solved the case of the bloody bathroom.
Now, I know that there will inevitably be some users who truly believe that my husband is discreetly hiding a drug problem despite this update and harass me about it, so I will be no longer using this account after it’s posted.
To preface, I received about 10 DM’s that offered to send pictures of what their, or a loved one’s, blood evidence of shooting up or snorting looked like and I was thankful that literally none of it looked like what I was finding. Those photos, the lack of gaps in our finances, no history of unexplainable personality changes, as well as the fact that I cleaned/searched every inch of our 800-square-foot apartment and found nothing suspicious, solidified my conclusion that it wasn’t drugs. I am pleased to announce that my husband… is just gross.
Before I continue, I’d like to thank those who sent me photos and personal anecdotes of their or their loved one’s drug use and I wish you all peace and good health in your lives.
So obviously it’s been a few months since my post. In that time, I was harassed in my DMs with people calling me ignorant, some suggesting that I divorce my husband based on this wild possibly that he might be using hard drugs. Firstly, if my husband had a drug problem, I wouldn’t leave him lol I’d want to help him; I love him and addiction is a disease and he would need support.
But alas, I found myself searching dark corners of cabinets and furniture crevices for secret drug-hiding spots and found nothing. I sat him down for yet another conversation about the blood and he reassured me he was having nighttime nose bleeds and promised that he would turn on the lights from then on to make sure he cleaned it up because I did not deserve the burden of doing so for him. He lived up to his promise and after that conversation I noticed he was turning the light on when he went to blow his nose at night and the blood drops stopped appearing.
Fast forward to two weeks ago, I was on Instagram and came across a reel that was titled “Signs you’re using your nasal spray wrong”. The very first “sign” was new, unrelenting nose bleeds. The metaphorical lightbulb over my head illuminated, as I remembered that since we moved to a new part of the state, my husband’s allergies have been worse and he started taking flonaise to control it. The time of the blood appearing was about a week and a half after he started taking the nasal spray. I know this because he uses my prescription ever since flonaise came out with a pill version that I like better.
As soon as he came home I showed him the video I saw, which also demonstrated how to properly use nasal sprays (YOU HAVE TO TILT IT!!! NOT shoot it straight up!!!). He took a week off of the flonaise to “reset” his sinuses and last week started using it again, the correct way. And holy cow. He stopped snoring. His voice sounds different. His nose stopped whistling. And thank the lord, he stopped having midnight nose bleeds.
No more blood, but also no more paranoia on my part and he can properly breathe out of his nose for the first time we moved here.
You may be wondering why he didn’t see a doctor when the nosebleeds started, its because we are poor and he has medical anxiety.
But yeah. Case solved!
TLDR: husband wasn’t using hard drugs as the internet suggested, he was using his nasal spray incorrectly.
