A subreddit about all things Pearl Jam. Of course we're talking about the best band from the 1990s featuring Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, and Matt Cameron. See wikipedia for additional info about other band members. Pearl Jam fans are usually members of the "Ten Club" named after the bands debut album "Ten".

2023.06.06 04:26 ELLESSDEE42O Need help with info on these bikes.
| I read the badges and thought about googling but I figured with bikes this vintage it would be better to get opinions and facts from people who may be experienced with them. I’m usually pretty savvy when it comes to motorcycles but I honestly have no idea what I’m looking at here, if anyone can fill me in on specs, info and a possible value for both it’d be greatly appreciated. Definitely looking to restore both if not just the more complete one. Long story short, my neighbors husband passed a few months ago and she’s just now cleaning out his shed(s). These two were in an old steel shed with half the roof rusted out. I genuinely didn’t believe there was anything of value in that shed my entire life up until a few days ago. I asked her about them today, she said she had a potential buyer stopping by but would keep me updated if they don’t sell. I currently have two bikes but if these two have a good rep here I may have to shoot her an offer in the morning. Also, I may not respond right away if anyone has questions. I have four kids and the night time is my time to relax haha. submitted by ELLESSDEE42O to projectbike [link] [comments] |

2023.06.06 00:24 Sophiasophy Not just bikes - Rank your modes of transport
| Trains connections, biking people, cross country skis, scooter and car sharing cars (all photos are my own) There are not just bikes (and cars). What else are you using?Whats dominant when you rank it according to frequency of use?I am specially interessed to read a short comment. Thats my ranked list: 1 Bike daily My bike takes me to work and to all appointsments in my small city with 25k people. I live on the outskirts of the city adjacent to meadows, walking into he center would take up to 30 min/way, with the bike its < 10 min. 2 Walk almost daily always availble, therefore used a lot (e.g. for lunch or in combination with transit). But the bike wins, because ist faster and the bike can carry bags, so I don't have to. 3 Train weekly I like trains - I could go to work on a 8 min train ride, but I cycle because I am more concentrated when I start the day moving outside. My prefered way of travelling longer distances. 4 Tram 3-5x a month I use them whenever my app tells me to take one, especially in Zurich and other , but not available in my small city 5 Bus 3-5x a month My city has a good bus service but I rarely use it because I take the bike. I often use busses in combination to train journeys. 6 Car 2 - 5 x per month Most my car rides are when I get a ride from someone. And about 5x times a year I drive myself to transport heavy items. Last time was in April when I bough a raised bed for my garden. 7 Cableways 10x per year fast and often the only way on top of a mountain 8 Metro 5x per year use them a lot when visiting a city with metro, and never in my daily life because we don't have them 9 Ship tranport 2x per year it's very lovely to use ships (many ships are covered by a day pass) instead of trains. I enjoy it a lot, but rarely use it because a ship is so much slower. 10 Scooter 1x per year tested it while there was a pilot trial in my city. Would need more practice to feel as comfortable as on a bike, so I don't use them on a regular base. Nevertheless I value to have them available. 11 Taxi 1x per year Up to now I have never used a taxi in my home country (Switzerland), but it happens that I get one in Germany. 12 Inline/Rollski 0.5 x year I don't fell very safe because lack of training. Maybe I change that one day. 13 Motorcycle 0.4x per year always as passenger, because I don't ave a license for motorcyles (I would be allowed to ride the small ones) 14 Airplane 0.2x per year my prefered way to go to other continents - next airplane travel will be most propanly to India for work 15 cross country ski 0x per year I havn't used them a for transport and always returned back to the start - but it would be possible on some distances on a day with Snow Country: Switzerland, 36 years old, no kids submitted by Sophiasophy to notjustbikes [link] [comments] |

I'm a 34 year old carpenter from the US who has been traveling the world and working for a few years. Looking for someone who might be interested in traveling together. I thought it would be easier once I started traveling to find someone to join along but people have their own lives and the couple times I met someone on the road that I was genuinely interested in and attracted to and we started dating, they always had some other plans which prevented traveling together long term.
So let me know where you'd go and what you'd want to do if you had a year to travel.
As for me, my main travel interests are hiking, food, photography and riding motorcycles. I'd be really interested to do a tour of Japan from North to South focused on exploring regional food. I'd also like to go hiking around south eastern Europe, hang out in Prague and Budapest, and possibly check out the caucuses. I'm very interested in starting a business around travel in the future, maybe a high end hostel or a coworking space.
Mostly don't care about almost anything pop culture related. Tend to prefer talking about music, travel, tech, politics, economics, ideas, plans, life in general, environmental issues. I don't categorize myself as liberal, conservative, or libertarian but I tend to fall into some mix of liberal and libertarian issue by issue. If being a member of a party is a super important part of your identity we probably wont get along.
As for someone else, the traits I most value are open mindedness, kindness, creativity, intelligence and passion for the things they get involved with.
I'm 5'10 200, in good shape but don't have an amazing gym body or anything like that. Not a model but most of the girls I have dated have been pretty attractive so I don't think I'm hideous.
Obviously I'd want to spend some time talking / video chatting and making sure we both felt like it was good match before deciding to make any travel plans but if we talked a few times and it felt potentially good, I'd be up for whatever. If you're up for it include a facebook link in your DM

2023.06.05 19:27 jesshatesyou Me [37F] with my mom [66F]; I want to ask her to move out but feel guilty because she has nowhere to go and no money.
Background: my mom (66F) has lived with me (37f) and my son (12m) since 2018; she moved in so she could help me take care of my dad (her physically abusive ex-husband who lived with me full-time since 2009) as he had cancer, and son. Although I have 50% custody of my son, I work full-time at a major tech company in Silicon Valley, so my schedule is predictably over scheduled. She was never a mom to me growing up; she was a drug-abuser with a few other younger kids (all different fathers) and her relationship with my dad was always very contentious. I have vivid memories of being very young and watching my alcoholic dad beat the shit out of her; it traumatizes me to this day, but I was so young and he never physically abused me (and she never reported her own abuse), so he was allowed to keep me in the divorce. I never forgot what he did, but he was my dad; I have lots of internalized conflict around him and who/how he was, but i know he did the best he could with me with the tools he had. He never acknowledged beating my mother (actually, he always denied it) and i know how hard it was for my mom to be around him later in life. But still, she finally got her act together at some point, and as I was going through major depression, a divorce, co-parenting a 7 year old, dealing with my dads cancer (he’s lived with me many years at this point), she agreed to come live with me/us because I needed the help. So she moved in, helping with my son, and doing the cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, helping with my dads feeding tube, and overall providing me with some much needed adult company. My family isn’t normal; my dad was an ex-member of a motorcycle gang, and my mom was his old lady. So none of my friends really understood how I grew up, and it was hard to relate to them. My mom understood me and all of my complexes. She let me be me, with no judgements. We had an understanding; I provided her with free housing and access to my Amex (within reason) and she helped with the household chores, dinner, and taking care of my son and dad when I needed help. My dad died in 2018, and I finally felt like dating. I met a great man (after a few duds lol), and eventually he moved in (to the house I owned solely). We got married and had a kid, and refinanced the house, including him on the title and mortgage (with financial investment on his part). So now our 4bed, 2ba home has 3 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs, and a cat. The problem is that I think my mom is being extremely stubborn with regards to how she’s treating my husband. I think she might be jealous and missing when it was just us. But she makes mean “jokes” about my husband, acts like she knows way better than he does about trivial things (like starting a charcoal bbq…he offers to help, but she’s pretty snarky about how she knows how to do it better than he does), and is just overall not very respectful of him. Plus, she makes comments to me when he’s not around about what she thinks of him. He, in turn, is just annoyed by her now; he wishes she didn’t smoke weed in the garage (I agree, but give her leniency, I guess), he wishes she didn’t smell like smoke when she engages with my son or our daughter, things like that, things I also feel strongly about so I mention it to her when it happens (not mentioning him, of course; I keep the conversation strictly about what I find problematic). He’s more upset with the way she treats him and also my son, as well as with the things she does, and I absolutely see that these things are happening. She also has begun feeling comfortable treating my son with zero respect. Granted, he’s 12 now and in his tween-attitude years, and I try to guide him and his behavior where I can, but sometimes a kid’s gonna kid. She believes she has full rights to dictate what he does or eats, to discipline him, to overall “parent” him, which I frequently have to remind her that she is not his parent and her word is not final, especially when it conflicts with what I want for him. She badmouths my son to my husband when I’m not around and in general, I don’t think she’s great for my son’s mental health (or mine, but I’m more concerned about him). To be clear, she still definitely provides her contribution with occasional child care (basically when one of us needs to go use the bathroom and only one parent is home, and/or when it’s raining and she picks son up from school), grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning up in the kitchen, and running various errands that I ask her to. So she absolutely provides value, I fully see this. My mom has limited finances (California; social security), and nowhere to go, but I feel like I want to ask her to move out so I can have time with my husband alone (we’ve been married 2.5 years now) and our family alone. She’s helped me so much the past few years, so I feel like I owe her, but she was also never there for me during my adolescence or formative years. So maybe we’re just even now? I do think her attitude and behavior (and snarky comments/subversive behavior) is getting in the way of my marriage, but I just don’t know if that warrants asking her to leave. Is her help greater than what she does/says that belittles my husband? I think not, but also maybe I’m making a mountain out of a molehill? For what it’s worth, my husband isn’t asking me to have her leave. He’s not asking for her to leave at all, but I don’t want this negative relationship to drive a wedge between us. But she was also there for me during a period of my life where I absolutely could not have gotten by without her help. For context: She does not recognize that she does anything wrong. Ever. Every time I’ve ever tried to provide her with respectful feedback or ask her not to do certain things, she rejects that she’s done anything wrong. We had to firmly tell her she can no longer smoke weed in her room after our daughter was born. I’ve had to repeatedly tell her she’s not my sons mother, so she doesn’t get to dictate his behavior, give him punishments, or basically be super rude to him. She lost her mother when she was 17 (she’s 67 now), and it feels like she’s been stuck in that timeframe ever since. I only mention this because she constantly talks about her mom and what her mom would do, did do, etc, and I feel like part of her as a person is stuck in that age. So maybe it’s not really something she is at fault for, or in control of? But she has no money and nowhere to go. She’s burned all of her bridges as far as places to stay. I pay for her car and car insurance, and I still have car payments before it’s paid off, plus the car is in my name. Her health is deteriorating, and I know the suggestion will be that she needs to get herself a job, and I agree, but she’s always made excuses for why she doesn’t work. I’m just so conflicted. She’s definitely not doing my marriage any benefit, but I’m basically the only reason she has reliable housing/food/etc. — **TL;DR;*\* : My mother lives with my family and is incredibly toxic but I feel conflicted asking her to move out because she has nowhere to go and no money.

2023.06.05 18:36 balsaaaq Flipping Motorcycle
Not sure if there are many motorcycle flippers out there or if this is the right subreddit but...
I bought a motorcycle with a salvage title that had a cracked fairing which I replaced.
Is there value add to me getting the bike retitled as repaired from salvage or just sell it as salvage and let the next owner do the paperwork.
It would cost $50 to initiate and maybe 150 in taxes plus 3 hours of time
Is there a big resale difference between "salvage" and "repaired from salvage" titles?

2023.06.05 15:31 HonestRef How I rank the 4 movies and Why
- Temple Of Doom: This is definitely my least favourite. Don't get me wrong it has some great scenes such as the opening segment, good villians, mine cart chase and the climax on the bridge is one of the best in the series. Indy is absolutely ripped in this movie which is great. But this movie seems to get a free pass for all the crazy shit it has in it when compared to Crystal Skull.
All three members surviving a plane crash in an inflatable raft is arguably worse than some of the scenes in Crystal Skull. The dining scenes are painful to watch and Willie Scott is definitely the worst side character in the series, constantly screeching and screaming. The character is so annoying it makes it borderline unwatchable. I even think Short Round is an overrated character. People want to see a spinoff with an adult version of Short Round? I for one am glad that none of the characters in this movie returned in any sequels.
The movie is also very static in comparison to the other movies which is something else I didn't like. The other movies felt like more of an adventure with Indy travelling the world in exotic locations. The maguffin is the least interesting in the series. In conclusion I think this movie is viewed through rose tinted glasses and with a lot of nostalgia.
- Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull: The hate this movie has got throughout the years is something that will always continue to baffle me. Yes this movie has many flaws. Bad CGI, the bad CGI animals that are shoehorned into the movie at any given opportunity. Someone involved in this movie had an obsession with CGI gophers and they add absolutely nothing of value to the movie. Some of the dialogue is not great either and the movie has pacing issues.
However I think this is a solid entry in the franchise. I love how they introduce the character after so many years. Harrison looks great in this movie. I think the first hour or so of this movie is up there with the best. The motorcycle chase, the diner fight and graveyard scenes are all classic Indy. I think the level of abuse mutt got too is unwarranted. Personally I much prefer Mutt to Indys sidekicks in Temple.
The movie falters a bit when they go to the Amazon. The pace of the movie slows. The villians are probably the worst in the series in this movie. The Soviets were perfect choice as villians but they should have made them more threatening. Overall the movie definitely has flaws but it didn't deserve anywhere near the levels of hate it generated. The ending with Indy marrying Marion is great.
- Raiders Of The Lost Ark: It was very close between this movie and Last Crusade. Both are definitely the best in the series and a cut above the others. I wouldn't argue with anyone that says this movie is best. It's such an iconic movie. Has a character ever been introduced in such an iconic fashion before? The movie just flows really well. Its a proper adventure with Indy travelling to iconic locations.
The villains in this movie are great too. It has some of the best chases and action of the franchise. A very interesting Maguffin. It introduces indys best sidekicks from Marion, Marcus and Sallah. I am glad that these characters were the ones that returned in sequels. Marion is Indys best love interest.I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about this movie. It's truly one of the best if not the best Indy movie.
- The Last Crusade: Personally this movie just edged Raiders as my favourite. I love everything about this movie. Another proper adventure with some of the best locations seen in an Indy movie, Venice, Austria, Germany and Jordan. The maguffin is great and the returning characters Sallah and Marcus are more fleshed out. I think Elsa is also an interesting character and gives Marion a run for her money.
But it's the chemistry between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery that makes this movie. You can tell the two had a blast making this movie. Sean Connery even said around the time Crystal Skull was being made that he'd only cone out of retirement for an indiana jones movie. However they only offered him a small cameo at the end which is a great shame.
Like Raiders the movie flows very well and I think it has the best action and chase scenes of the franchise. The tank scene is truly epic. This movie has the best ending of the franchise with the characters riding off into the sunset. Again like Raiders I can't find anything bad about this movie. My one minor criticism is the opening with young Indy is not as exciting as the open of the other movies but Indy battling for the cross of coronado on the ship makes up for it. Definitely one of the best Indy movies.

2023.06.05 04:13 6unicorn9 Exorbitant towing fee, any options?
I low-sided my motorcycle yesterday and was taken to the hospital. Thankfully could’ve been worse, some nasty road rash and a couple sprains and the bike wasn’t hurt too bad. However, since I couldn’t ride back the bike had to be towed. I wanted to call AAA but the firefighters wouldn’t let me make a phone call (fair since they were focused on my health), and they said to let the cop know when he got there. Well once I saw the cop I asked him to call AAA and he said he already called a tower.
Getting to the point, I went to the lot today (less than 24 hours after the tow) and they want $900! That’s like 15% of the value of the vehicle and more than the cost of the damage (meaning there’s no real point for to go through insurance). Is there anything I can do to get this reduced? Any laws I can refer to? This feels like highway robbery.

2023.06.05 01:58 sosoyantos I tried to change my character midway and am failing
https://imgur.com/a/SeXAMV5 edit 1: here’s a song i recently produced/wrote/recorded that i believe is at least competent
https://youtu.be/YCBGuqnUtJw It's best to view Life as a video game. Your physical body is the "character" and your Soul/Spirit/Consciousness is "the person holding the controller playing the video game". In Life there are many "characters" to play as (musician, engineer, politician, etc) all with their own "games" and set of rules.
I was raised to be a nerd. My parents immigrated from China, and education was their ticket to a "better life"/higher standard of living (at the time China hadn't industrialized yet). I grew up as one of the few Asian kids in a majority White school, and being intelligent was a survival tactic. I wasn't popular or good at sports. However I subconsciously knew that if I put my head down and was a high achiever, my teachers and peers would somewhat respect me and not pick on me. It worked for the time being, and because I'm a naturally curious person, I didn't mind it. I enjoyed the intellectual stimulation. But deep down I always wanted to be cool.
When I started college in 2014, electronic dance music was blowing up and I wanted to be an EDM produceDJ. So I learned how to produce music. After I graduated in 2018 and started working, I realized I loved voices and learned how to sing and write songs. I started putting out original material in 2019 and have struggled to gain traction and create the right look/image. Basically I tried to change my "video game character" after high school and am failing at it.
Let me now introduce the concept of karma. We all know it, but I'm not talking about how it's conventionally understood by popular culture. Karma means action/memory/cause and effect. For example, say you grow up with a tiger parent and they traumatize you - the action is them inflicting trauma onto you, the memory is then you go through life with trauma stored in your body; the consequence is you have a strained relationship with said parent because you don't know if s/he is your friend or foe - after all, a friend wouldn't overwhelm you with force, a foe would.
For how karma applies to me - well, I'm extremely nearsighted and have chronic dry eyes due to a condition associated with being born premature (I was born at 25 weeks/3 months early), lifestyle (studied and went on the computer a lot growing up), and ignorance by optometrists (there's good evidence that glasses can make eyesight worse). This means I'm restricted in choice of frames: I can't wear cool, big hipster glasses because the worse your eyesight is, the thicker your lenses are, and the more the lenses distort your eyes and make them look smaller. I look ugly in big frames. So I have to wear frames that make me look like a nerd. And I can't wear contacts right now because my ophthalmologist/cornea specialist put me on a treatment plan for dry eyes and said my corneas aren't healthy enough for contacts.
I also got 8 teeth pulled in total (includes wisdoms) and don't have a wide Hollywood smile (pulling teeth can narrow your smile and possibly set your jaw back, giving you breathing difficulties/sleep apnea/future health problems). Nobody likes to say this, but any front-facing position (actor, reporter, singer) basically requires you to be conventionally good looking and have a beautiful smile.
So why am I saying all this? Because my deepest desire is to be a successful singeperforming artist. I have the skills to succeed, just not the image/look (there's probably other reasons why I'm not successful that I'm overlooking, but having the right look is most definitely part of it). Now obviously the world isn't over and yes there are still many jobs I can do, there are still many ways to live a fulfilling life. But anyway.
ESPECIALLY TO ALL THE YOUNGER FOLKS HERE, where maybe a lot of karma hasn't been created yet/you haven't been pushed too far down one path yet. YOU ARE GOING TO BE PRESSURED BY YOUR PARENTS, PEERS, AND CULTURE IN GENERAL TO BE A CERTAIN KIND OF PERSON. HOWEVER THAT MAY NOT BE WHO YOU TRULY WANT TO BE.
Just because Asian-Americans are stereotypically associated with being software engineers, bankers, scientists, academics, doctors, etc doesn't mean YOU have to be. Obviously those are all very respectable and lucrative professions and if you truly love a field then by all means pursue it.
IN LIFE YOU ARE ALWAYS GOING TO BE PLEASING SOMEBODY. "Don't be a people-pleaser" is a myth. If you aren't pleasing your parents by being an overachieving student, and instead choose to smoke weed, ride motorcycles, and f*** girls, you are pleasing a different group of people, ie a group of people that values those things. And yes our culture does value things typically associated with "coolness". It's just, everyone has a different hierarchy of values they're walking around with. And your values can change over time.
Forgive me for the rant but I hope there's at least a few gems here. Ideally you want to be the driver of your life as soon as you can. Take a walk in nature. Get away from everybody you know for a while and truly REFLECT and INTROSPECT. What do you truly want to do? What do you want to try? Who gives a f*** what other people think. Want to learn how to dance but afraid of being called gay by guys? Who gives a shit. Just go learn how to dance. Girls like it. Want to learn a martial art? Go do it. You'll be able to fight and protect yourself and others. Archery? Cool. Growing food? Awesome. Fixing cars? Hell yeah. Whatever just go do it!
Life is short. Life is long. Ultimately we all just wanna spend time doing things we like doing and fulfill us, and get paid for it. And hang out with people we like, who support us, who want the best for us. What do you want the story of your life to be? How do you want to "tell" your life? What do you want your life to mean, to you and to the world?
I think that's it! Thanks for reading.

2023.06.04 23:30 khoafraelich789 Driven: 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Proves Mid-Size Trucks Don’t Have To Suck
| https://preview.redd.it/nnacw9ecny2b1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=09591c58da67e45c700456841de4978e9c700d84 The redesigned Colorado combines a good ride with a nicer interior as well as an all-new turbo engine Trucks are as American as apple pie, but most of the attention has been focused on the full-size segment. It’s been that way for decades, but smaller trucks have finally stepped into the spotlight. The Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz revived the long dormant compact segment, while 2023 is shaping up to be the year of the mid-size truck thanks to new entries from Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, and Toyota. That’s a ton of new blood and we haven’t even mentioned the Jeep Gladiator and Nissan Frontier, which are still relatively fresh. We’re kicking the year off with the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado, which features a fantastic new design, an upgraded interior, and an all-new turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine. However, the biggest news might be value as the truck starts at $29,200 and you can get one with four-wheel drive, adaptive cruise control, a bed liner, and a ton of safety features for under $37,000. A Sporty And Stylish Design While there’s a lot going on, there’s no better place to start than styling because designers knocked it out of the park. The model has “big truck energy” and sports an all-new design that echoes the Silverado. However, this is no scaled down copy as the Colorado has a more youthful and athletic appearance, which combines sharp lines with subtle curves. The resulting design is great and the Colorado is arguably better looking than its larger counterpart. That’s high praise and each trim has a slightly different aesthetic. The entry-level WT is the most basic of the bunch as it sports black components and 17-inch steel wheels. This look is shared with the all-new Colorado Trail Boss, which builds on the WT but adopts a 2-inch (51 mm) lift, a wider front track, and 18-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in 32-inch all-terrain tires. The Colorado LT is more traditional as it wears body-color components and 17-inch aluminum wheels, while the Z71 combines creature comforts with moderate amounts of off-road capability. The news isn’t all good as the Colorado is offered exclusively in a crew cab configuration with a 5’ 2” bed. This is a bit of a disappointment as the outgoing model offered extended and crew cab configurations as well as a larger 6’2” bed. That being said, the redesigned Colorado has a few tricks up its sleeve and one of the most interesting ideas is a lockable, watertight compartment that is integrated into the tailgate. With the tailgate down, you push two levers aside to gain access to a compartment that measures 45 inches (1,143 mm) wide and 4 inches (102 mm) deep. It can be a bit tricky to open, but there’s a decent amount of space and owners could easily stash tow straps and other off-road equipment there. While the compartment is a little gimmicky, it’s hard to argue with eight standard tie-downs, integrated motorcycle tire grooves, and an available 110-volt power outlet in the bed. The tailgate can also be positioned midway down to aid in transporting longer items, while a dampened EZ-lift and lower tailgate is also available. An Interior That Doesn’t Scream Cheap Mid-size trucks are far more affordable than their larger counterparts and this cut-rate pricing is often reflected in the interior. However, the Colorado bucks this trend as drivers will find a significantly improved cabin with better equipment. The changes are immediately apparent as driver sit behind a chunky steering wheel and find themselves looking at an all-new 8-inch digital instrument cluster. It comes standard and features an assortment of informative displays including an off-road focused setup, which shows pitch and roll as well as the steering angle and current transfer case setting. Speaking of screens, there’s an 11.3-inch infotainment system with Google integration as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It’s a massive improvement over the old 7- and 8-inch displays, and the system is fast, responsive, and largely intuitive. That being said, we did experience a few hiccups including an instance where music was blasting at startup and the system initially refused to respond to attempts to lower the volume or mute. Putting the screens aside, the cabin sports a modern design with classy switchgear, gloss black trim, and metallic accents. The amenities vary by trim and things are pretty basic in the WT and Trail Boss. It’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but the models eschew a lot of the bright work, padding, and details that make higher-end variants look and feel special. It’s also worth mentioning that, regardless of which trim you get, black plastic is abound and it’s of the hard variety. Despite being a rough and tumble pickup, the Colorado can dust off its cowboy boots for a night on the town. In particular, the model can be equipped with two-tone heated and ventilated leather front seats as well as a heated steering wheel. While it’s not as fancy as the upcoming GMC Canyon Denali, it’s pretty darn nice for a mid-size truck. Speaking of the seats, the front chairs are perfectly comfortable and spacious while also offering a good amount of support. Furthermore, the entry-level WT doesn’t cheapen out too much, although a front center console is an optional extra. The rear seats are less impressive as they’re not terribly spacious. While there’s a good amount of headroom, legroom is limited as occupants will find a mere 34.7 inches (881 mm) of space and that’s 1.1 inches (28 mm) less than last year’s crew cab pickup. The experience reminded me of the compact Maverick and Santa Cruz, which actually have more rear seat legroom on paper. That being said, the seats seem to be competitive for the segment, although not as generous as those found in the Gladiator. A Turbo Four With V8 Levels Of Torque The streamlining continues under the hood as the Colorado’s engine lineup shrinks from three to one. As a result, every single model is equipped with a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder. The engine has been powering the Silverado for years and it’s available in three different outputs. The entry-level variant produces 237 hp (177 kW / 240 PS) and 259 lb-ft (351 Nm) of torque, which is a sizable improvement over the old 2.5-liter four-cylinder that developed 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS) and 191 lb-ft (258 Nm). The entry-level engine comes standard in the WT and LT, and offers respectable performance. There’s plenty of power for cruising around town, although we wished for a little extra oomph when it came to merging onto the highway. The mid-level engine comes standard in the Trail Boss and Z71, where it produces 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 390 lb-ft (528 Nm) of torque. Customers can also opt for a high-output version that develops 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 430 lb-ft (582 Nm) of torque. The latter figure is insane as the engine has more torque than the 5.0-liter V8 in the Ford F-150. It also bests the Silverado’s 5.3-liter V8 by 47 lb-ft (64 Nm), despite having half the number of cylinders. The high-output engine comes standard in the range-topping Colorado ZR2, but Trail Boss and Z71 customers can order a high-output calibration for an additional $395. That seems pretty reasonable as it delivers an extra 40 lb-ft (54 Nm) of torque, which will be appreciated if you tow on a regular basis. While the base engine is fine, the upgraded versions transform the truck from good to great. As you’d expect, responsiveness improves significantly and there’s plenty of power throughout the band. Chevrolet hasn’t released detailed performance specifications, but officials we spoke to said all three versions of the engine enable the truck to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than seven seconds. Speaking of the engine, it seems relatively refined and engineers told us it was “designed like a diesel.” As a result, it sports a rigid cylinder block casting, a fully forged bottom end, and a stiff crankshaft – among other things. While that’s just scratching the surface, the engine has been subjected to countless torture tests and was designed to withstand years of heavy use. The engine is connected to a capable eight-speed automatic transmission, which worked well on- and off-road as shifts were perfectly timed and well executed. Rear-wheel drive comes standard on the WT and LT, but the rest of the lineup has four-wheel drive. EPA ratings haven’t been released, but the Colorado has an engine start/stop system and active fuel management technology. As a result, we can expect the truck to surpass the Silverado’s rating of 19 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined. It’s also worth mentioning that all of the engines run on regular gasoline, even the high-output variant. A Capable Truck That Doesn’t Ride Rough One of the most surprising things about the 2023 Colorado is how well it drives. Body-on-frame trucks aren’t typically known for their refinement, but Chevy’s entry exceeded our expectations. While the ride can get a little bumpy on rough roads, it’s not uncomfortable and can best be described as truck-like. However, those incidents were few and far between as things settle down significantly on smooth roads and the Colorado proved to be a comfortable highway cruiser, despite having a solid rear axle and leaf springs. The good news doesn’t end there as handling is good for a body-on-frame pickup. Cornering was secure and predictable without any hints of drama until the truck was pushed hard. The experience can also be somewhat entertaining on the right road, although you’ll want to keep your expectations in check. Given this is a truck, it’s not surprising to learn the steering is a little heavy and slow. We didn’t have any problems with the heft, but we wish the truck offered a sport mode with a more direct response as traversing twisty mountain roads required an almost comical amount of turning. Speaking of driving modes, the Colorado offers Normal, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Terrain, and Baja settings. Terrain mode might be the most notable as it was designed for low-speed rock crawling and it enables you to travel at a leisurely pace with subtle throttle responses. The truck also offers a cool off-road performance display as well as up to 10 different camera views including underneath the truck. Speaking of off-road goodies, the Z71 and Trail Boss come standard with a limited-slip differential and hill descent control. The Trail Boss is also notable for featuring the aforementioned lift and wider stance. Back on pavement, wind noise can be pronounced at highway speed, but otherwise the truck is fairly quiet. The model also sports an impressive amount of standard safety equipment including Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam automatic high-beams. Customers looking for more safety tech will find an assortment of affordable packages that offer Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Park Assist, and Rear-Cross Traffic Braking. They’re joined by Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Pedestrian Alert, and an HD Surround Vision system. Colorado owners like to tow and most versions of the truck have a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 lbs (3,493 kg). This bests the Frontier, Ranger, and Tacoma while also matching the mightiest Gladiator. Sticking with towing, customers can get a package that adds a receiver as well as an automatic locking rear differential, an integrated trailer brake controller, and a trailering app on the infotainment system. We’d also be remiss to mention the truck has a maximum payload capacity of up to 1,684 lbs (764 kg). Mid-Size No Longer Means Half As Good Mid-size trucks have often felt like half-hearted efforts, but that’s clearly not the case with the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. Designers and engineers poured blood, sweat, and tears into the model and the end result is truly impressive as it looks great, drives well, and features an impressive new engine. On top of that, the Colorado boasts a significantly improved interior, more upscale equipment, and a new Trail Boss trim that should appeal to off-roaders on a budget. Speaking of which, Chevy managed to keep pricing affordable and this means you can get a nice truck for around $42,000. While there are a few tradeoffs, the Colorado is a solid pickup and the one to beat. Of course, there’s no shortage of challengers on the horizon and we’ll learn more about them in the coming months. 2023.06.04 21:52 eddy_unr Z400 vs Z650
Hi everyone, I am in the market for a beginnemid motorcycle and wanted to know if the Z650 is worth(value wise too) an extra $2000 out the door.
Motorcycle experience/skillset- I have ridden sub 200cc class motorcycles and am pretty familiar and comfortable with the basic motorcycle skills but have never ridden one on American roads
Desired use- I am based in Texas and want to commute once I have built enough confidence and skillset My commute includes city roads and state highways (that has more traffic than the city roads)

2023.06.04 20:53 snownotsneaky 26 [F4M] North Shore suburbs/Chicago - Seeking kind, gentle, affectionate, and cuddly life partner.
Hello! My dream is to meet and fall in love with a wonderful man. A kind and gentle person who loves to cuddle and cherishes our relationship. I am hoping this posts gets me closer to meeting that special someone.
I'm passionate about many aspects of the 80s and 90s (such as rock and alternative music, movies, fashion, and activities). I love animals, always appreciate a good pasta and seafood dinner, and greatly enjoy antiquing, organizing, and relaxing with a good show or movie. Physical touch and quality time are my top two love languages.
I consider myself to be a low-energy person. My hobbies consist of antiquing, organizing, going on IKEA adventures, bird watching, watching some of my favorite shows, and going on nice car rides.
I value organization, cleanliness, comfort, stability, honesty, privacy, calmness, and being a practical minimalist.
I don't drink, smoke, nor do drugs. I might be open to dating a light drinker, but I'd prefer to date a fellow teetotaler (a person who doesn't drink alcohol).
I'm agnostic and liberal.
While I absolutely love pets, I personally prefer not to have any since I greatly enjoy the freedom that comes with not owning a pet.
What I'm looking for in a partner: Single (as in not married, separated, or still involved with someone else), mid-twenties to mid-thirties. Located in or near the Chicagoland suburbs. Someone who also doesn't smoke, drink, or do drugs. An omnivore. Responsible in general and especially when it comes to money, health, and safety. Kind, gentle, and affectionate. Has a good sense of humor. Pro-choice. Atheist/agnostic/non-religious. Values clean spaces and personal hygiene. Doesn't ride motorcycles or hunt. Isn't one to partake in dangerous activities or hobbies. A suburbanite. Comfortable with driving a car and a safe driver.
If you're interested, feel free to send me a message and some pictures of yourself (if you're comfortable doing so, of course). Thanks for stopping by!
