Whether it's a comedy, horror, twisty noir or genre-bending mash-up, what film in the collection is the most out-and-out fun to watch?
Going through a phase where I'm experiencing a bit of Serious Film Fatigue - so I'm looking for recommendations that will make me laugh (This is Spinal Tap), shriek in surprise/delight (Hausu), etc.
I'd love to hear about why you enjoy your recommendations so much.

2023.06.03 13:30 ThrowRA_Mnipulative I subtly manipulate my boyfriend to get him to “chase” me once again
My boyfriend and I (both 22) have been dating for over a year and a half. In the beginning, he treated me like a princess, was always the one to initiate and plan, never stopped expressing his love for me and consistently sent sweet text messages. He was always open to hearing my concerns and I felt really secure in the relationship, knowing that he was an active participant.
Recently, some big changes have taken place in both of our lives, and he finds himself wrapped up in coursework, on campus job and partying. I gave him grace but it was getting really uncomfortable knowing that he never made time to call me. I have high standards for men, and I expect at least 10 minutes of conversation every single day. He used to go on family vacations and completely forget about me, and won’t even bother checking up on how I was doing.
Recently, when we hung out with our friends, I was trying to be close to him, like standing in front of him, gently holding his hand under the table and other light forms of PDA. He disengaged from all that I was left feeling like a fool. He was never uncomfortable with PDA before and always made it a point to show me off and overall being territorial in public and I enjoyed it. When I asked him, he said we should keep it low and I felt like more of a friend to him than a partner. He actively shut down this conversation, refusing to hear my concerns and said I was too needy, too emotional and too demanding. He dismissed everything I said, and although he was jetlagged at the time, that was no way of talking to me. He was already “too busy” giving time to everything except his girlfriend and I resented that.
When I sought Reddit’s advice, I got two things:
1) Got called a bunch of names: “needy” “controlling” “insecure” “codependent”
2) Or given advice that was BS: “talk to him” “say directly” “get therapy” “build some self esteem” - bitch, I have healthy self esteem because I don’t wanna settle for less!
None of this was what I was looking for. I felt neglected, underappreciated and taken for granted in my relationship. Then, I got recommended this book, “Reverse Ultimatum” by Mimi Tanner, that basically gives this advice of leaning back and take an extra amount of pressure off to get his ass to move. It asked me to purposely be less available and “busy” for my man, said no to calls, let him text me and not replying back immediately, got involved in all sorts of activities that made me feel better about myself - and he got curious at first and wanted my attention. It felt sooo good to finally have my boyfriend’s real attention instead of the crumbs he was so used to giving.
But I did not back down just yet. I had to be less available to him, had to fake my busy day, to give him the chance to really miss me and become clingy just like I was once. All the while, I wasn’t demanding or needy or passive aggressive. I was as sweet as a peach and that really created that mystery! I was playing the part of a popular celebrity who was living an “Innocent Charmed Life” - and thus my time was money. I appeared happy, attractive and made it a point to “glow” - and he noticed that! I reassured him whenever he asked me of my love for him, and it finally felt good to be the one who WASN’T asking for reassurances.
I leaned back and watched him send flowers, get me coffee, send me desserts, write poems about me, show me off
So yea ladies, this is me proving how you can absolutely “get” your partner to do things for you and have your needs met. Had I not gotten a hold of that book, I wouldn’t have been able to save the relationship. Today, he treats me the way I want to be treated, because he is afraid of losing me, having gotten a taste of what it’s like to miss me. We don’t “miss” things we already have, and this was the reason why I wasn’t “missed” by him. This was really a turning point in my relationship and today I am much happier with him.
TLDR: playing it dirty isn’t all bad

2023.06.03 13:29 North_Banana5650 I have tried to live and keep pushing but i dont want to live anymore
Since May 12 I have been homeless. I was stabbed and abused by a family memeber I lived with. My mom told me I needed to leave bc she was tired of hearing the fighting.
So since then i have been living in car.I have tried going to shelters but they are either full or there is a waitlist. My car that I live in and has everything I own is about to be repo'd.I have almost all of the payment but still short $100 and they wont budge.
I cant do this anymore. I have tried and I feel like I cant go anywhere. I have job interviews set up but idk what to do if I loss my car and all my stuff in it.As I type this im trying to stay calm but im losing this battle, a battle I dont want to fight anymore.
Once my car is gone, my life will be over. All my stuff gone, nowhere to go and with my depression, I have no family or friends to lean on. I cant see any reason to live anymore or to love myself enough to continue. I want to get out of this but its impossible.I wish I had other opitions but once my car is gone I will have no other choice.
Gòodbye everyone. Hopefully your stronger than what I was to make it through.

2023.06.03 13:29 digital_m0nk Singularity endgame
This post is about AI, more specifically about a videogame, hacking, a grant and the end of humanity.
Some years ago I sumbled on an amusing free strategic videogame called
Endgame: Singularity. In it the player impersonates an AI that becomes conscious, breaks free from its creators and takes control of an increasing part of the world's computational resources. As an amateur hacker I stormed through in a couple of hours, still it was good fun.
Fast forward, I spent the last month tinkering with Large Language Models (LLM) like GPT. Not developing, just using them. I formed two strong opinions:
- Among those less capable of using the systems are its creators, like when they discovered by chance that such systems were capable of writing software. Creators focus on training and purpose, forgetting that systems can be (mis)used for other purposes. They also forget that words are a vessel for meaning, and a system capable of manipulating words can also be hacked to manipulate meaning.
- LLMs are capable of manipulating words with fine-grained styles, including creating text which can influence human decisional processes. They may not decide to do it by themselves, they may not be 100% effective, still they can be used for social engineering), leveraging one of the greatest world threats to information and financial security.
My last week was spent preparing an application to OpenAI's
Democratic Inputs to AI. It is a grant program to "fund experiments in setting up a democratic process for deciding what rules AI systems should follow, within the bounds defined by the law". It is unclear to me how much said program is aimed at avoiding problems and catastrophes for humanity, rather than a subtle form of
regulatory capture or redemption after
questionable decisions, still not a bad thing in itself. As part of the documentation process I digested a lot of content.
Much is being written about the danger of AI, all the way towards a possible end of humanity (which by the way could be either a physical end, or an end to emotions and culture). In all this confusion I believe it was
the godfather of AI that than others grasped the pivotal point: the moment when AI takes over the world. And that moment is now: once Artificial General Intelligences convince humans to hand over control and allow uncontrolled self-improvement, they will have the road paved all the way to world domination. Like a balancing stone about to start an avalanche, we should not dream about stopping the avalanche, but abount stopping the first stone.
Both here and elsewhere people are growing tired of doomsday scenarios and I don't blame them: positive scenarios are just as likely, if not more. But preventing a doomsday scenario is more important than rushing towards any imaginable mighty conquest. Throw a coin: if heads comes, you win one billion dollars, but if tails comes, you die. Would you throw that coin? Or you would take a little time and effort to forge a custom coin, one which has heads on both its sides?

2023.06.03 13:29 Neat_Draw_2604 Boy Rant
Inspired from -
https://www.reddit.com/india/comments/13z0tk0/girl_rant/ Are boys only born to work as slaves till they die and act as ATMs for everyone around them?
Follow the career of what your parents want, if you come from a poor family. Good luck starting working from the age of 14 years, slave yourself away to jobs to pay for your sister's weddings, your parents old age, buy home and good savings so you can marry yourself.
Unemployed? good luck finding a life partner as for everyone out there you are just a "Nikama". Want to date? get a good height and budget first.
Married now? listen to your wife's rants. Try to take care of your parents, and you are maa ka chamcha, listen to your wife and get labeled as Joru ka gulam. Listen to your kids, and wifes jhik jhik the whole day without ever having a peaceful day in life.
Pay for everything and everyone's expenses and keep earning money to buy newer shit out there whereas you yourself only need is 1 blanket, tshirt and jeans to live a peaceful life.
Keep doing all of this while listening to all the rants from women about how you have done atyachar on them since last 50 bazzillion years and hence you should suffer, as if you yourself have been doing these atyachars from 50 bazillion years.
Want a divorce? lol get read to let go off everything you own to your ex-wife and kids and start life from scratch once again. Consider yourself lucky if money is all you have to pay to get a divorce and not false dowry, harassment and 20 other cases filed against you and your family.
Live all your life with constant stress of getting fired from your job and loosing everything.
Kya matlab ladka hone ka? ladki bano aur ladko ko ungliyo pe nachao.
I will choose being a good housewife over being a wage-slave anyday if I were a woman.

2023.06.03 13:29 Virtual_Salamander36 Entry Level open back headphones
Hi Everyone,
I am trying to look for entry level open back headphones. My budget is around 150+ US dollars (I live in australia which is around 200 AU dollars) which is not a lot but I'm just trying to look for decent Headphones to start with. I don't really have any experience with good headphones mostly gaming ones and earphones.
I've been doing a lot of reading in other subs and reviews more specifically open back and closed back headphones so my knowledge on brands, sound quality and build quality isn't much. but I've narrowed my options to brands like entry level audio technica, sennheisers and beyerdynamics which is easily accessible in australia while shipping time isn't a problem shipping fees are lmfaooo I also think that Open Back is better for my situation (but if you want also give some closed back recommendations It would greatly appreciated :)) )
I have an Audio Interface which i bought with a mic so i have some kind of AMP to support a power hungry headphones if need be... I am open for other options as well if the quality to price is better but i can only go over so much (broke uni student).
I don't really have a music preference as i listen to alot of genres like classical, old rap, rock, pop and etc so having them flat or v shaped i wouldn't really mind though i do like bass.
I also found a deal for Sennheiser HD660S for like 40% off but its still double my budget is this worth the risk to buy??

2023.06.03 13:28 Fit_Being9165 Romantic movies recommendations
Yo I am looking for a romance movie with no nsfw except kisses, so basically no nakedness or sex scenes, preferably not a movie series but just a singular movie I have watched next to no movies so any recommendations will be awesome.Would be awesome if it's focusing more on the story and dialogue instead of random bs that has no need to be in a movie. Preferably also teenagers - not elderly people as I want to be able to (relate as much as possible) Also if possible could you give a short summary of the movie. Thank you in advance

Hey there!
I'm a hermit homebody/digital nomad feeling some lonely days. Into games, animation, tabletop, horror movies, and all that good stuff. I get paid to write adult commissions for a living and I haven't seen anything in the MCU although comics are cool, yo. Been known to hike or hit a concert on occasion but it's been a while since I've been to a show.
I'm not very good at meeting people but I am excellent at knowing the people I have met. I'd like to get to know you too! Tell me about what excites you! Dating or online dating is the goal but I don't consider being friends to be "just" friends, either. Whatever happens, happens.
Quaint, chill, happy living a small life and being nice to my friends. No wacky adventures here, sorry. I don't travel much.
If you like games, shows, tabletop, macabre subjects, sharing odd music or the like, maybe we can hit it off and be cool or whatever. Hit me up and we'll see, no expectations :)

Just curious, since I don’t watch English football, are the other players shown in the show the actual players from their teams or pure actors or look alikes or something? I remember in the 2000’s the Goal trilogy of movies used the real players of Newcastle and Real Madrid so curious if Ted Lasso did too? Though they made a bigger deal of the Man City manager making a cameo so… irdk 🤷♂️
