2023.06.06 04:08 FluffyPandaMan Kindness is Weakness
Was in an accident recently whereby I rear ended a newer BMW X5 and did, what I thought, was extremely trivial damage to the rear bottom bumper extension, (Will post if possible) and stupidly did not take a photo. I assumed it would be a quick claim and no issues but my insurance company denied due to a lapse in coverage (long story.) I immediately offered to pay and drew up an agreement of repayment and had notarized. When I received the estimate I was stupefied. $9,400 for what was a small grey flap at the bottom of the bumper. Regardless, having just lost my father and not being mentally clear I paid promptly. Today I receive a “final invoice,” which states $11,800 and I simply cannot believe this. Do I have any recourse if he has duped me and sent false invoices? Can I call the repair shop and ask for an itemized invoice or should I contact an attorney? I spoke with a BMW mechanic who stated the damage couldn’t have possibly cost that amount but again, I want to do the right thing. I don’t want to be taken advantage of though. This was money I do not have.

2023.06.06 04:01 ZombyRaven Cats peeing everywhere
My cats two of which are almost 2yrs old and female and my other one which is almost 1 and also female just LOVE to pee on ANYTBING that's on the ground, we've had to throw out so many towels and clothes because they just pee on everything, I leave a shirt on my bathroom floor for a night on accident and in the morning it's got piss on it. Today or yesterday or something I'm getting ready to hang up this poster that I absolutely adore and find it's got PISS on it. I can't even get another because it was artwork from someone in town. The worst part that this was in my room which I didn't even think they'd go that far and start peeing in there but they are. Recently we switched litters and we also only have one litterbox, we switched to a pine litter because it tracks less and they use it. I'm pretty sure it isn't the pine just because they did this even when it wasn't pine. I'm just so tired and I can't really have them outside cats because there's a colony next to us and they might have diseases that can get to the cats and also I'm scared they won't come back and I love them to much to have that happen. please help me and if making them outside cats is the only way please how do I start doing that.. I'm so desperate and so tired and stressed cleaning cat piss all the god damn time.

2023.06.06 03:57 dudewheresmyshyt Wits end and scared
My 2 year old has been constantly just screaming and crying with tantrum throwing multiple times a day. Yesterday she became aggressive and bit both my husband and I. We’re working on transitioning because that has been the hardest for her. She is stimming constantly, and one particular stim she does is when she’s in pain. We got into a car accident 3 weeks ago and she has been checked out 3 different times and they say she’s okay but I have no idea what else could be wrong. Things have been crazy since the wreck as I have been injured so maybe a change in routine? I’m just tired and screamed out. I know she’s hitting the stage of the tantrums but it’s to the point she will try and harm herself and others as well. We have another eval in July with her neurologist so I plan to bring it up then, but any advice until then? It seems like she just gets so energetic it bothers her. All day today she has been outside playing in water, we went for a walk, we went out to eat and got ice cream for dinner, so she’s getting enough stimulation I feel like. Should I do more? 😭 she’s nonverbal and I just wish she could tell me what is wrong so I can fix it. 🥺

2023.06.06 03:46 ShySnowWolf I accidentally caused a huge fire at my own place today
So it's past 3 am as I (F26) write this, so technically, it is already the next day, but I think I still need to vent, because honestly, I still can't believe this actually happened and I might still be half in shock.
At around 4 pm yesterday, I accidentally caused a huge fire in my garden. Just for context, I rent a house where I have the whole ground floor to myself and someone else lives on the upper floor, with a seperate door and entrance, so we don't share a hallway or anything. So the entire ground floor is mine, including the garden and my bedroom is directly adjacent to this garden. I had a large lounge set (a bench, 2 chairs and a table), made of plastic (fake reed) in the color black, which was located at the part of my garden closest to my bedroom.
I smoke, so there was an ashtray on top of the table of my loungeset and I promise, I am usually so careful with putting out my cigarettes and I never had accidents before. So a little before 4 PM, me and my best friend (M24), who was chilling at my place today, had a cigarette on the loungeset, then pressed out our cigarettes and put them in the ashtray and went back inside to the living room (front of the house, furthest away from the garden) to continue gaming.
Around 4 PM, I heard a crackling sound, like someone was crinkling a plastic/paper bag and at first thought it was coming from the kitchen (kitchen is next to the bedroom, also next to the garden, but further away from the loungeset area, if that makes sense), so I walked to my kitchen and there is a window in my kitchen, looking over my garden and I already saw the orange light coming out of it, so I ran over to the window, looked outside and that's when I saw that my entire loungeset was up in flames, reaching as high as the balcony from the person who lives above me. Part of my wooden backyard fence, seperating my garden from my downstairs neigbor on my left also was on fire and my window frame of my bedroom window was also on fire.
I always judged people a little for not being able to keep a rational head in an emergency situation and I'd like to formally apologize to every single one of you who wasn't able to, because my mind totally blanked and I just froze. All I could do was scream and I started to hyperventilate and I only could scream " [Friend's name], my backyard is on fire!" before mentally shutting down. I felt so much adrenaline and panic and my friend yelled at me to call my country's 9-1-1, so I did, but I had so much trouble staying calm. Eventually, the fire department came and also the police and so many people of my neighbourhood came to my street, because of the commotion and it stressed me out so bad, because all I could think about is how I was today's sensation and I didn't wanna be and I was so so so scared what my neighbours would think of me and if they were mad at me. Only my upstairs neighbour is mad at me and keeps sending me passive-agressive messages. All the other neighbours have been nice to me, which I am very relieved about.
But this feeling of guilty and paranoia won't go away. I just feel really responsible for what happened and I can't shake off this feeling of guilt. The fire department said I could stay in my house and I am in my bed now in my bedroom, but there is still a feint smell of smoke and I keep thinking it's happening all over again and I can't stop crying. I just feel so stressed and guilty. There is a lot of damage to my house. Every single window has cracked and my whole loungeset is now a pile of melted plastic. I can't stop thinking about those flames I saw. I was so freaking scared. I caused that. It was my fault. I even saw my house on the online news. And it freaks me out. I made a mistake and I feel so guilty about it. And I never ever want to experience a fire again.
Sorry for venting. I still can't really believe this actually happened...

2023.06.06 03:37 mistakenidentityx Getting Sued for Car Accident and Didn’t have Liability Insurance
Hi,
My (21f) significant other (22m) was served papers today stating he is getting sued for a car accident that took place in 2022. At the time, we didn’t have insurance on the car which was a huge oversight on our part, and a huge lesson for us. His parent’s were still helping with his car insurance, and they let us know that it was about to expire and he needed to be the one to begin paying for it. To keep it short, we had just moved states, and unfortunately we weren’t on top of it, and we didn’t realize we were out of our time frame until we had our car accident.
I’ll try my best to explain this in depth without being perceived as bias. We were sitting at a red light and the light had just turned green. We started to move forward and twenty feet in front of us there was another vehicle who seemed to be following traffic like normal. My significant other and I were in the middle of talking and he noticed me fidgeting with the radio trying to change the sound. We assumed the car in front would have continued moving forward, as it was dark outside and there wasn’t any traffic in our area, or ahead of us. Though, when we both looked up, their car had come to a complete stop, and we may have been doing twenty-five at most when we collided.
A cop came by and asked for all of our information. Our car was inoperable, and had to be towed. They were able to drive their vehicle afterwards, as it was a larger vehicle and absorbed most of the impact. An ambulance was never called or needed for either party. We both left under the impression that if she did have insurance we would hear in a month or two, but nothing ever came from it. Now it’s a year later, and we’re getting sued by an individual not a insurance company for bodily harm. We’re going to reach out to a lawyer, but I wanted to seek out other’s advice. We don’t own anything that could be used as collateral, and we live paycheck to paycheck.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, any advice is welcome and appreciated.

2023.06.06 03:25 redlobsterbiscuit_ Lost my sweet boy today. Feeling guilty and broken. Vent
Today my 12 nearly 13 year old cat passed away. He was one of our farm cats. He lived in our shops and was a great mouser. He had a bad accident in 2017 where he was run over by a truck but he miraculously survived and since then he came inside the house more because he had to be fed a soft diet and bowel movements monitored and he slept in the garage attached to our house, but he had free roam outside whenever he liked.
Over the last week my dad noticed he had been peeing more often but nothing else out of the ordinary. He killed 2 birds last week! Then two days ago my dad noticed he wasn’t eating as much which was unusual he loves his special food. Then he didn’t see any poop in his litter box. This morning he tried to walk all the way across the farm yard - my dad was worried he was leaving because he didn’t want to be around the house while sick. So he rushed him in this morning and the vet felt a large mass in his abdomen on exam. They did an ultrasound then said we could spend time with him until 1 when the vet came back from lunch to get the results. I was able to get there around 12:20 to see him. He was meowing at me, snuggling his head into my chest. His meows sounded different. And he wasn’t purring and he always purrs when being held. Then my dad noticed his tongue sticking out and thought he might be hot, so I set him down to take the blanket off and his leg splayed out in a very weird way and he wasn’t standing up. I picked him up immediately and I started to panic and my dad got the vet tech. By the time it took for the tech to come in he had passed away. He wasn’t struggling or anything and he slipped away in my arms against my chest. I wanted to wait for the vet to tell us the results anyway so we held him and cried. When she got back she was shocked he had passed over lunch hour because he was acting normal before. She said he had a large liver tumour that was pressing on his kidney so that explains why he was peeing more and not pooping over the last day. She said primary liver tumours are rare so he likely had a different primary and it was a metastasis. After his accident in 2017 he had a hard time grooming himself on the back end so he would get mats. He hated us cutting them or brushing him so we didn’t do it very often. Then of course we take him to the vet today and I’m just horrified that he had mats on his tail and hind end I just am mortified and devastated that it looks like we took less than good care of him. :( after he had passed I wanted him to look his best for his send off so I went to cut the mats off with a pair of surgical scissors and as I was cutting off the biggest one on the underside of his tail I accidentally cut his tail and could see the tendon and he bled a bit. I started wailing and saying sorry and buried my face in his fur. I feel so awful about that and thinking about it makes me want to puke.
I feel so guilty we didn’t catch this earlier and I feel like we let him down. I know he wasn’t suffering until just these few days but still I feel awful. I can’t believe no one felt his tummy mass when petting him… he had a prolonged “cat cold” last year and we didn’t take him to the vet and I wish we did because maybe it would have been different. As he was a farm cat we don’t usually take them in for regular check up only when something is wrong but I feel just awful since he really became more than a farm cat to our family.
I know that I am getting comfort from the fact that he was very loved by our family. Our dogs loved him and they would often cuddle together. He loved cheesies and he got treats all the time because he was always a good boy. After my dads workday was done he loved to come inside and sit on anyone’s lap and purr and knead. I am also getting comfort that once I arrived he was at peace and knew he was okay to pass once I was able to see him, hold him and tell him I loved him and thanked him for all his years of companionship. I really feel that he waited just for me. It is a different type of traumatizing to have a pet die in your arms but I’m getting some comfort framing it that way.
I’m not even sure what I’m wanting with this post. Maybe just validation that I’m not an awful person or pet owner, condolences, similar stories, etc. thank you if you read this long.

2023.06.06 03:17 chelsea_morgan87 Continued fever, circling, odd behavior and lack of appetite despite medication x1week. Please help.
Species: canine Age: 7 Sex/neuter status: male, neutered Breed: shih tzu poodle mix Body weight: 7kg General area: Raleigh, NC History/clinical signs/duration: overall healthy dog that began exhibiting odd behavior about 1 month ago which included: accidents in the house, circling, loss of appetite. Once he had nasal discharge approximately two weeks ago, he was taken to the vet and they said he had a fever and was given antibiotics for the nasal discharge. He refused to eat and wouldn’t take the oral antibiotic pills. He was hand-fed water and continued to refuse to eat or take his antibiotics. On 5/29 he had two seizures that didn’t last long and went to the emergency vet. His labs and blood pressure were normal, but his fever was over 103F and he showed dull mentation. Initially, an MRI was suggested to rule out a brain tumor, etc., but due to risk vs. benefit vs. cost, we discussed a plan of care to forego the MRI and attempt to treat other differential diagnoses. Additionally, it doesn’t seem like there’s a place that can do a CSF test without also doing the MRI. He received IV fluids, doxycycline inj, Clindamycin capsules, dexamethasone inj, and keppra while he was there. He stayed overnight in the ER, the fever resolved and he didn’t have any more seizures. He was discharged to our care the following day. His at home care includes entice 30mg/mL and receives 0.7mL every 24hrs, doxycycline 50mg every 12 hrs, Clindamycin 75mg every 12 hrs, prednisone 5mg every 12 hours and keppra 250mg every 12 hours. Since 5/30 he got slightly better for about a day, but then his circling continued, he had accidents, would whimper at times in pain, lose his balance and still isn’t getting any better. He barely wants to eat, but does eat a little bit of cat food and has been taking his pills. Today, he was taken to his regular Vet for follow up and found out that he has a fever over 103F despite being on antibiotics for one week. We were given gabapentin to help with the pain. I thought it might be meningitis/meningoencephalitis, but it would seem like the medication he is on would potentially treat that (I’m not 100% sure though). Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thank you so much for any guidance, tips, suggestions you can provide. 🙏

2023.06.06 03:14 matt_dt3d UMs5 Wall Separation Issue
I've been having an issue with my s5 since the beginning of the year. The issue is that the outer walls are printing separated, which leads to weak, inaccurate, unsightly parts. I've tried talking it through with Ultimaker / FBRC8 support, and nothing we've come up with has helped after months of chasing the issue.
The problem started after I replaced all of the sliding blocks. One of the blocks had completely lost its grip on the print head axle, so it was due. At the same time, I thought it would be a good idea to clean my s5 thoroughly, as it was entering its fourth year of service.
Here is a list of things I've tried to get the printer to run correctly:
- 0. Deep cleaning the entire motion system before replacing the sliding blocks. This included disassembling the print head to clean its components, cleaning the axles and pulleys thoroughly, reassembling and oiling the motion system, all according to the directions in the knowledge base.
- 1. Realigning all axles, checking for axle play, tightening belts, grub screws, and motor mounts per the knowledge base.
- 2. Different filament and printing hotter. I have multiple known-good filaments that print just fine on my other Ultimaker 3 machines. Doesn't matter if it's PLA, ABS, or PETG. Same result.
- 3. Cleaning the filament feeders (Ultimaker Support suggested).
- 4. Cleaning the Print Core by hot pulling and then cold pulling until fully clean.
- 5. Swapping to a known-good Print Core from another Ultimaker.
- 6. Realigning all axles, checking for axle play, tightening belts, grub screws, and motor mounts per the knowledge base. Again.
- 7. Trimming the Bowden tubes shorter to eliminate filament play. This resulted in crisper prints, but the issue didn't go away.
- 8. Replacing the short belt loops (Ultimaker Support suggested).
- 9. Shimming the X-axis printhead bearing to eliminate play in the bearing (Ultimaker Support suggested).
- 10. Going through and carefully torqueing all of the printhead screws to the very light torques specified in the knowledgebase.
- 11. Disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling the printhead according to documentation provided by Ultimaker support.
- 12. Made sure that both motors are mounted perfectly level and not tilted (Ultimaker Support suggested).
- 13. Downgrading Cura to 4.13.1 to see if the Arachne Engine was glitching.
- 14. Slicing the test file in PrusaSlicer, then editing in the gcode header from Cura, and printing the resulting gcode.
- 15. Cleaning and inspecting the filament feeders for damage. Again (Ultimaker Support suggested).
- 16. Re-calibrating the XY Offset.
- 17. Disassembling the motion system. Realigning all axles, checking for axle play, tightening belts, grub screws, and motor mounts per the knowledge base. Once again.
- 18. Taking the bearings out of the printer frame, cleaning them thoroughly, and repacking them with grease. Two of them had debris that was making them crunch.
- 19. Disassembling and comparing the filament feeder to one that hadn't been disassembled. Turns out I reassembled the filament flow sensor wrong.
- 20. Installing a new X axis bearing into the printhead (Ultimaker Support suggested). Now the wall separation is very well-defined. (Teal test print)
At this point, if you told me that sacrificing a lamb under the blood moon would fix it, I would try it.
I'm running firmware version 7.1.3. I don't plan on upgrading any further, because:
- A. I can't downgrade later if I want to.
- B. The new features and bug fixes don't apply or matter to me since I don't use Digital Factory, have no addons, and don't have an s7.
- C. Local Management Console features were removed in 8.1.0 that I use regularly.
I'm at the stage where I'd be relieved to sell the s5 for parts if I could get most of my money back out of it.
Attached pictures:
- 1. Teal PETG test print from today, 06-05-23.
- 2. Candy Red PLA test print from 05-01-23.
- 3. White PETG test print from 04-13-23.
- 4. Orange ABS print fail from 04-13-23.
- 5 and 6. Examples of what a PETG print failure looks like when I grab the part and twist. It should be rock solid, instead, this happens...
The test print is the
Micro All in One 3D Printer Test by Majda107. I used the bone-stock Ultimaker profiles for PLA/PETG/ABS as applicable. I changed two settings: 3 walls, with Z seam in the rear. No other changes. I've shared my project file with Ultimaker Support, and they either didn't print it, or it printed fine for them. I can provide the project file on request.
Any and all guidance is appreciated.

2023.06.06 03:12 Redflaglookout What is it with deadbeat dads? Why are they so common?
This is a rant, I don't know if I'll ever understand why.
I'm from the "My dad went out for a pack of cigarettes and never came back" generation. I know there are deadbeat moms out there and I hold them to the same standards. I just happen to know dozens of deadbeat dads and wonder HOW it can be so commonplace!
I just cannot wrap my head around it. I can't believe that they just go about their day not giving a shit whether their kid has even eaten today. I know a lot of parents who have kids by accident, even some parents who had a baby from a one night stand, but regardless of whatever circumstances the baby, they still have custody of their kid and fulfill their parental duties! How do these deadbeats hear the question "Do you know where your children are?" And not think "wow. I don't know where my kid is, maybe I should make more of an effort to be in their lives!"
How do you live everyday knowing that your kid doesn't have a dad, because of you?
And trust me I know being a parent is hard. But parents do it. It's hard, but parents are supposed to do ANYTHING for their kids! And these "parents" are okay with doing NOTHING???
Make it make sense! And I'm sure there are a handful of real world situations where what seems like a "Deadbeat dad" scenario is happening, but really the dad has some kind of justified reason for not being in his child's life. But this thread isn't about that. I wanna know why the deadbeats in your life, whether it be your own dad, your kid's father, or someone you know, made that choice. Because I know we all know at least one.

2023.06.06 03:07 ilikecacti2 How do you get out of the rheumatologist-orthopedist loop?
Hello everyone
I have hEDS. My biggest problems with this disorder are joint pain, dislocation/ hyper extension injuries, and falls. It seems like every time I try to see a doctor about this they say they don’t treat it. I started out seeing an orthopedist, they said they couldn’t help and I should see a rheumatologist, so then I saw a rheumatologist and they don’t treat it either and they said to go to an orthopedist, went to a different orthopedist today who I thought would be able to help since he has a lot of experience and he works with a ballet company, but alas, he said I should go to a rheumatologist.
Really I’m just trying to get refills of my Robaxin for pain and an evaluation for custom orthotic braces. I don’t think you can self refer to an orthotist, but does anyone know if there’s a way to do that? Otherwise, who should I see? How do you get out of this loop?
Also I’m at my out of pocket max for this year so money is no object between now and January lmao.
Thanks

2023.06.06 03:06 MamaDragonExMo 100+ pounds down.
| As of today, I'm down 101.1 pounds, with 81.1 of those pounds lost since starting MJ. I'm less than 3 pounds away from wonderland. I've gone from a size 24 pants (and busting out of those), to a size 14 and can squeeze into a 12. Mounjaro has been a game changer for me. Spent way too much time spinning my wheels trying to lose weight with only 20 pounds coming off despite strict 1200 calorie diet and working out 3-6 days a week. I sat in my doctor's office crying because I could not lose the weight. She prescribed MJ. I still do 1200ish calories but I allow cheat days. I walk my dog for about 45 minutes each morning and do a weight workout 3 or 4 days a week. I've stockpiled my MJ, making sure to buy every 22 days as allowed by the coupon, so after this month, I will have enough to get me through to September, then I'll figure out my next move with my physician. 2023.06.06 02:53 Destrae [Trip Report] March 8-24 (Tokyo/Yokohama/Kyoto). 16 day weeb dream vacation - Kingdom Hearts concert, JJK exhibit, so many arcades!
I wasn't going to do a trip write up at all, but I'm planning a return trip in the Fall and I realized some of the things I learned on my first trip might be useful for other people, so here we go! I don't often see post write ups from people who are specifically into rhythm games/ arcades/ anime stuff
Dates: March 8 - 24, 2023 Background: Planned this trip mostly for myself but one of my friends decided to tag along fairly last minute. I had planned to spend the whole trip in Tokyo but the one thing she wanted to do was Kyoto, so we added a side trip + a very pleasant day at a Ryokan. I used Wanderlog to plan (HIGHLY recommend, this site is amazing), and my basic daily itinerary was morning shrine > pick an area to explore and have 1-2 major things per day. The person I was travelling with ended up taking a long ass time to get ready each day, so most of my morning stuff got cut or rearranged.
Costs: I will fully admit I did not budget for food/ shopping, 100% vibes. I simply do not acknowledge what I spent
- Flight: $1,500 (Delta from MSP > SEA > Haneda. Direct from MSP had not resumed yet)
- Hotels: ¥314,000 (Roughly $2,300 USD for all 3 hotels total) [¥205,000 (Tokyu Stay Tsukiji, 15 nights) + ¥30,000 (Tokyu Stay Kyoto, 2 nights) + ¥79,000 (Kyokoyado Muromachi Yutone Kyoto, 1 night)]
- Shinkansen: ¥42,000 for 2 round trip tickets from Tokyo/Kyoto and back. Roughly $300 USD, machine did not take foreign CC only cash
Highlights - The Kingdom Hearts concert, I maxed out my luck on this trip and we were able to see this on it's last night in Tokyo. Absolutely incredible!!
- Sushi Yuu, Roppongi (omakase sushi for about ¥20,000 per person, we paid more with drinks)
- ShibuyaSky, the open air viewing makes the experience so much better, plus there's a bunch of different spots to hang out up on the observation deck
- Fushimi Inari, the whole shrine blew me out of the water, absolutely must experience in person
- TeamLabs Planets, so few things live up to the hype and this is one of them
- Golden Gai, the bars were so much fun, got the full experience of a salaryman pissing on the side of the konbini
Lowlights - Caffeine- if you are addicted to non carbonated caffeine like I am be prepared to be disappointed. The monsters are only 40mg compared to America's 150mg+. I'm glad I brought caffeine pills
- Tsukiji market is really not worth going out of your way for, it's nice if you're near it but it's really just a fish market + insane lines for most of the food
- I'm still mad about how bad the food was at the Square Enix cafe is, at least we got coasters + placemats out of the deal. This was genuinely my only bad experience in Japan
- Everything on this subreddit told me that people in Tokyo don't really care about tattoos, however they do really seem to care about colored hair. I have very long, bright ombre hair and I was a bit of a sideshow attraction, including people taking photos of me in public multiple times. Probably the most frustrating part of the trip was being stared at constantly
- Japanese thrift stores love old American clothes, I was definitely let down by the majority of these
Goals: - Buy anime stuff
- Play rhythm games
- Go thrift shopping
- See cherry blossoms
- Collect shrine stamps (goshuin)
Advice: - TAX FREE SHOPPING: This has to be first because no one mentions it?? There are 2 types of tax free, discount and rebate. Everywhere has a minimum for tax free. Don Quijote you have to go to the separate tax free counter, and they will seal the bags shut. You're not supposed to use the tax free items in the country - I didn't know this and did it anyways? There seems to be no repercussions unless they open your bag and count every individual KitKat. I had to open the bags to repack everything anyways. The places that do rebates are generally malls, you bring your receipt + passport and they'll give you the 10% back in cash (minus a fee). When you get to the airport, you scan your passport after you drop your luggage, indicating you made tax free purchases. You do not need to keep your receipts anymore
- Don Quijote does sell luggage but Ginza Karen is cheaper
- Besides the standard things that every single trip report has (get a suica, you'll walk a lot, etc etc), the biggest thing I learned is not to go to an area without at least 1-2 specific goals in mind. For example, I had given us like a half day to go around Shibuya/ Harajuku, but because we didn't look into what malls or stores we might like to go to, we ended up wandering pretty aimlessly and not really enjoying the area. This happened a few different areas we went to, so I decided that in the future I would pin some stores on Google Maps and try to make it to those specific stores
- Install LINE and set up an account. It's crazy how much connects to LINE. For me the biggest thing was 1) making Sushiro reservations and not having to sit in the store for an hour plus waiting for our table and 2) being able to grab a chargeSPOT to charge my phone. I brought a battery pack but at this point it must be like a decade old, it took the entire night to recharge and died on me during the day a few times. I have a Pixel 6 Pro and was literally constantly charging my phone
- If you're coming from the Americas, don't try to do something on your first night. Get your Konbini dinner and go the fuck to sleep
- Getting from place to place can take longer than expected, you'll have to navigate the stations, find the entrances (sometimes hidden in malls) and exits (sometimes closed), don't make plans too tight together
- Navigating Kyoto was so much more confusing. At first our Suica cards didn't work because we apparently didn't tap out at a station in Tokyo, so we were buying day passes and paying in cash on the bus. Some of the buses have 0 English and 100% Kanji (navigation difficulty: extreme). Suica cards DO work in Kyoto so if you're having issues go to a gate with an attendant and they can help
- It can be weirdly hard to find bathrooms, most konbini have them but you're supposed to ask the cashier if you can use them. I speak very basic Japanese but hammed up the gaijin card here and would just ask to use the toilet in English, no one ever told me no Weeb specific advice:
- If you want to do pop ups (like the Jujutusu Kaisen Animation exhibit), a Japanese e-sim will be a lifesaver. You need a Japanese phone number to do SO much, they really make it extremely frustrating to make reservations without it. I did manage to make reservations for the Square Enix cafe though, the write-up is on my profile. (Was it worth it? Absolutely not, worst food all trip, -3/10)
- Prices are all over the place for figures, especially prize figures. There's a solid chance you might buy something and see it cheaper at the next shop, however going back/forth between shops in Akihabara can be a huge pain in the ass. I'd recommend 1) making a list of things you want the most and 2) setting a per item budget and a total budget. A lot of the anime stuff was cheaper in Kyoto as well
- You can find a ton of gachapon stuff at Surugaya, so you can just buy what you want and don't have to gamble. Surugaya bins are organized by series
- Use collabo-cafe.com to find cafes and pop up events you might be interested. Plan ahead because reservations can be hard to come by
Now on to the super detailed trip report! Here's the big
album if you don't want to look through photos separated by day. Warning for flashing video
Day 1 (travel)
- Landed in Haneda around 3pm. Immigration + customs took about an hour (we did the visit Japan web ahead of time and had both QR codes ready). There was virtually no lines anywhere
- It took about an hour to navigate to the hotel. I chose to stay at the Tokyu Stay Tsukiji because 1) it was really cheap, 2) it was close to the Ginza line, and 3) it had a washer in the room. Although the location was slightly inconvenient for late nights, I'd say it was totally worth it for the ability to grab food in Tsukiji market, and the room was pretty large compared to some other areas of Tokyo. In fact, the room was so cheap that when we went to Kyoto, we opted to not check out of the Tsukiji room and just leave the majority of our possessions there. This didn't cause any issues and made travelling on the Shinkansen way easier
- I thought we were built different and could do some stuff this evening. We ended up walking to the Donki and being assaulted by sound in every direction. 7/10 didn't discover the 2nd floor until days later. At this point exhaustion kicked in and we got a Lawsons dinner and crashed
Day 2 (Akihabara,
photos)
- Going to Akihabara on our first day in Japan sure was a choice. Thankfully neither of us suffered jetlag on the way in. Checked out like 10 different game centers and a ton of anime shops. Managed to find the only Monster Rehab of the whole trip here
- Konbini lunch + strong zero! That flavor was terrible :')
- Dinner at the Monster Hunter cafe (no reservations required). Expectations were low but my travel partner is a huge MH fan. The food wasn't bad but the drinks were awful. The ambiance is nice and there were definitely some regulars there playing MH on the consoles they had set up
- The new Namco game center had like 12 brand new Taiko cabs and all of them had phone mounts so you could film yourself playing! I was really intimidated by everyone there being extremely good so we didn't play any games here
Day 3 (Shibuya & Harajuku,
photos)
- Breakfast at Tsukiji outer market since we were already there
- Went to Shibuya Loft for the Bravely Default pop up shop
- Checked out Tower Records
- Ate lunch at Japanese McDonalds
- Went to Takeshita Street. TBH this felt like in-person AliExpress, I'm sure the charm of the early 2000s is long gone
- Visited Hachiko
- Shibuya Sky Observatory
Day 4 (Asakusa,
photos)
- Started at Kaminarimon Gate & went down Nakamise shopping street. It was very crowded on a Sunday but I enjoyed it immensely, you just need some patience to get where you want to go. I liked trying all the food, most of the food stalls here were cash only
- Senso-ji temple, bought Goshuincho to collect stamps
- Ate lunch and dinner in the area, there's a ton of food options
- We ended going all the way over to Yoyogi park as well but nothing was in bloom. Because it was overcast the park looked really sad
Day 5 (Shinjuku & Kabukicho,
photos)
- Now is the time to come clean, I'm a huge Yakuza/ RGG fan. In the morning I had my Majima birthday cake delivered by PRIROLL. I pre-ordered it and chose the delivery day where we didn't have morning plans. It comes frozen and needs to defrost in the fridge. While we left Majima to chill, we made the pilgrimage to Kabukicho to see the iconic gate. It was raining in the morning so we hit up some arcades then went shopping
- There's a really cool mall that seems anime-centric (I believe it's called Shinjuku Marui Anex). It had a Godzilla store, Cinnamoroll Cafe, a JJK pop up, and best of all... A Surugaya. These stores have bins where everything is ¥100-300 and we ended up buying way too much in every one we came across
- Went back to Kabukicho and explored a bit, went to Golden Gai and drank at a handful of bars. Almost missed the last train because I drunkenly insisted on a final game of MaiMai. 10/10 staying in Kabukicho next time
Day 6 (Ikebukero & Rippongi,
photos)
- The plan today was to check out Ikebukero and Roppongi, but we ended up spending so much time at the first mall that we didn't really do anything in Roppongi besides get dinner. Went to the Pokemon Mega Center and the cafe. The main cafe was closed so it was just take out, all the food was really cute but the waffles were kind of terrible
- Gashapon no Depato Ikebukuro was super overwhelming. A lot of the smaller gashapon stores are somewhat organized by what is in the machines, this one just felt chaotic, and it went on forever
- Sushi Yuu was incredible, I didn't take photos of every single course but I was so full that couldn't finish my dessert at the very end. The owner speaks some English and I made our reservations by messaging him on Facebook
Day 7 (Yokohama,
photos)
- We didn't get to Yokohama as early as I would have liked - I took us out way into the suburbs to try to find this Yakuza plushie from the claw machines. I looked up the locations on the Sega website, unfortunately this machine was extra rigged and I couldn't win it >:[ On the bright side all the rhythm games had no one else playing them
- Took the cable car over and went to the Cup Noodle museum. Unfortunately we didn't have a reservation so we had to come back later. Found some cafes in the area and had a late breakfast
- The museum was really small, the main draw is making your own Cup Noodles. Entrance costs 500 yen and this is an additional 500. We had some trouble navigating this part because no one spoke any English
- Had dinner at a pie restaurant that was 10/10
- Explored a bit of Yamashita park (Yakuza 7, anyone?) I was kind of disappointed I wasn't able to see this during the day
- Walked around Yokohama Chinatown & visited the local Round 1 ;)
Day 8 (Kyoto,
photos)
- I bought the Shinkansen tickets to Kyoto the evening before, so we weren't able to get great seats. The machines are also a huge pain in the ass and don't take American CCs, so plan ahead here
- It took us longer than expected to figure out how to use the tickets and read the signage, so we weren't able to get food before and I had to have one of the train bentos. I knew it was going to suck and it was worse than expected :(
- You can bring a full sized suitcase and just put it in front of you, seeing other people do this was unexpected
- My travel partner was destroyed at this point so she rested in the room. I went to the National Garden and Imperial Palace alone. The sakura were just starting to bloom and the weather was great, loved it. The National Garden is SO huge that I only ended up walking up the west side before I tapped out
- Checked out Heian-jingu shrine + the giant torii, I went to another smaller shrine with a great view but I can't remember the name
- We did photoshoots at ESPERANTO Kyoto. There's basically no reviews from foreigners about this place but it was fantastic!! Their online booking form didn't work for me, so I emailed asking for a reservation. I emailed in Japanese and English and they replied in English. They gave me time options and I replied with what package and room each of us wanted (the website says they require a deposit but they told me they didn't need one). When we got there they did our hair and makeup, and then you pick your kimonos out. The photographer spoke pretty decent English and we didn't have trouble communicating with anyone else here. They had our photos edited and printed about 30 minutes after we picked which ones we wanted. The whole thing took about 3 hours (it was longer because we used the same set room). I don't want to include my photos but I did add a video of my hairstyle because she knocked it out of the park
- Ended the day with okonomiyaki, one of my favorite Japanese foods
Day 9 (Kyoto,
photos)
- Fushimi Inari day! I ended up walking this alone, I did not realize how long it was going to take or the fact it was actually like 10,000 stairs. My knees were very upset on the way down
- It was not as busy as expected, I went at roughly noon on a Friday. Most people tap out before the actual mountain climb
- The Goshuin at Fushimi Inari are on paper, you can paste them into your books later. Even if you don't have a Goshuincho I'd recommend buying them because they are very cute!
- Shrine cats!!!! You can buy photos of them to help pay for their food
- After Fushimi Inari I somehow managed to walk to Tofukuji Temple (I did the garden but not the bridge) and Daigo-ji Gojunoto pagoda and garden. I wanted to cut my legs off after today
Day 10 (Kyoto,
photos)
- I started my day at the Kyoto Round 1, I had visited it on day 8 as well. This one is ace because it was literally always empty 10/10
- Decided to explore Gion a bit, ended up at the Machiya Starbucks and had the best thing I ate all trip (a custard dorayaka, I regret not going back for another)
- Ended up at Kiyomizu-dera Temple totally on accident. It wasn't super impressive in early spring but the view was still fantastic
- Ended the day at the Ryokan (Kyokoyado Muromachi Yutone). Ended up picking one without an onsen because we are both covered in tattoos, and I didn't want to deal with finding a private one. The cypress tub was a great trade off, and the food was incredible
Day 11 (Tokyo - Concert,
photos)
- Today we travelled back to Tokyo and went to the Kingdom Hearts concert. I ended up trying for the lottery for tickets back in like December 2022. Winners were announced the first weekend in January and you only had a few days to buy tickets. I have a friend of a friend living in Japan who did me the biggest solid ever and bought our tickets. I met up with her during the trip for the hand off. The seats are randomly assigned and we had AMAZING seats near the front. This was also the performance Nomura was at!
- We weren't supposed to take photos during the performance so I just have some before. Also, I made Organization XIII beads that attach onto my dress with magnets and I am very proud of it, so please excuse the bathroom selfie :D
- The concert was about 3 hours long and after all the travelling we were beat. We ate dinner, played our nightly games of Ongeki, and passed out
- Bonus video of the music box that plays Dearly Beloved
Day 12 (Ginza & Sumida,
photos)
- We were really starting to tucker out at this point. We managed to drag ourselves to the Ginza art Aquarium in the AM and the Tokyo SkyTree in the afternoon. Today was the Equinox so everything was crazy busy, the line to buy tickets for the SkyTree was literally like 2 ish hours long so we bought them online and went shopping in the mall
- The Art Aquarium was really cool, but a lot of the fish were in really small tanks. I didn't include photos of those :(
- The SkyTree just let people up as fast as they could so it was extremely crowded at the top, and not super enjoyable imo
- I spent the evening at the arcades in Akihabara :D
Day 13 (Tokyo - JJK Exhibit,
photos - flashing video warning)
- Today I went off in the am to see if I could buy a ticket to the Jujutsu Kaisen animation exhibit in person. The online site wouldn't let me buy a ticket because I didn't have a Japanese phone number. UNFORTUNATELY you couldn't buy tickets in person. I got super lucky again and 2 foreign exchange students from Europe were trying to do the same thing, however they did have a Japanese phone number and the site allowed you to get 3 tickets at a time. They were able to grab them for all 3 of us for that evening
- Putzed off to Hie Shrine, anyone that tells you it's a mini Fushimi Inari is lying
- Went back to Akihabara, found a Miku racing pop up!
- Went back to... Ginza? for the JJK animation exhibit, it took about an hour to go through. I included a ton of photos so just skip today if you're not interested in that show
Day 14 (Tokyo - TeamLabs Planets & SquareEnix Cafe,
photos)
- TeamLabs was so cool! I didn't include many photos since it's 95% selfies. Make sure you explore a bit as the string light room had a couple of different areas that are easy to miss, and it's possible to accidentally skip the hanging garden, which was beautiful! TeamLabs took us about 2.5 hours but we were 100% those bitches taking forever to get a million photos
- Since we were staying in Tsukiji we ended up just slowly walking back to the room for a much needed nap
- Back to Akihabara yet again! More rhythm games, some awful food at SE
Day 15 (Shinjuku,
photos)
- This was our last full day in Japan, we honestly didn't want to do anything but we managed to drag our asses to Shinjuku National Garden for the cherry blossoms. Unfortunately it was sprinkling a bit, at least it kept the crowds away
- Managed to check out Meiji Jingu, but at this point my travel partner was sick of walking and tapped out
- I went back to Kabukicho, walked around a bit and ended up back at an arcade (bless Ongeki for having stools)
Final thoughts (Misc,
photos)
- We were literally so annihilated by the trip that we took a taxi to the airport, it was about ¥8,000 from Tsukiji ($60 USD ish)
- I ended up buying a 24" suitcase from Ginza Karen for ¥6,000. It was 100% full of stuff I purchased. We also used one or those giant ¥500 bags from Donki as a carry on
- My Goshuincho was my favorite souvenir, I'm so proud of all the stamps I collected (I did get doubles at some shrines). I plan to bring this back late 2023 to try to finish it
- I have the old school GoogleFi plan and don't have to do anything extra to have international data. Lots of places & stations have free WiFi but you'll need to put your email in
- I don't really sleep that much and my schedule in the US is already busted, but it took me about 2 full weeks to get back on normal human hours. I'm tired again just writing this up and looking through all my photos
- My main regret is not trying more food, we ended up waiting until we were dying of starvation and ate at the konbini a lot (typical)

2023.06.06 02:37 blkgrlskinsuit why doesnt talking things out never work
My boyfriends birthday is tomorrow and money is tight. My boyfriend bought me tickets to see my favorite artist and an hotel because by the time I’ve moved into my own apartment I barely had any money left to wipe my ass with a towel then, a few days later, he had gotten into a fatal car accident where he was the only survivor.
He doesn’t talk much about it, but I’m sure it’s taken a toll on him mentally and due to the injuries he sustained during it, he missed out on work and that of course put a financial strain on him as well. As for me I missed 2 days of work to be by his side and take care of him, I even helped him shower and feed him while I knowingly had my own responsibilities I had to take care of like rent, Wi-Fi and etc.
Once my check came in, I spent it all on my bills and Afterpay the gifts that I could…
Fast forward to now, upon our first discussion of his birthday he through a fit because he seen a problem with me wanting to celebrate at my apartment. I didn’t tell him what I was gonna do because it was a surprise, but ideally due to my financial situation I was gonna decorate my apartment with roses, balloons, bag his gifts and cook him his favorite meal. I even have lingerie and a spicy game lined up.
As of today, his birthday is tomorrow and he had hurt my feeling because I offered cheap entertainment and alcohol until his day and he simply responded “I’m not staying in the house drinking on my birthday,” hurt I didn’t say much. I took a shower and cried a little because I felt like I was disappointing him even before he knew what I had planned. Because I am the type to shut down during the argument I made sure to take the time feel my emotions and address him after. When I came back he was unaware of my hurt feelings and I tried to sit down and talk about how what he said made me feel.
He stated I took it out of context and got mad and said I was making my birthday about him and making stuff up in my head and that he was saying he didn’t have a problem with staying in, he just wasn’t gonna drink. But I knew what he was saying — before giving up on the conversation explained that maybe I am making things up and still hurt about his prior words so what he said rubbed me the wrong way and just being would’ve liked some reassurance. He said he wasn’t go comfort me because “I’m making things up in my head.”
I simply decided to just leave the apartment and catch some air. Any advice on what to do next? Or how to move forward. Because I’m honestly ready to send him home and see him when I get paid on Thursday.

2023.06.06 02:32 Softjiminie___ Help please
Can anyone tell me how to tell if a cat’s tail broken or not?
For context, my mom was getting ready to get in the shower earlier today and didn’t realize my cat’s tail was in the doorway and shut the door on her tail on accident. I was sitting on the couch watching YouTube when my cat came zooming down the hall her tail all poofed up and the hairs on her back sticking up. It’s been a few hours since, she’s bleeding slightly (not a lot) but she cries in pain when we touch the area. I have a feeling it’s broken but I’m not entirely sure. It’s also bent slightly at the end of it (which it never is) and is limp and only moves (the tip) when she’s sitting when before she could move (the tip) either walking, standing, or sitting.
I wanna take her to her vet but I work until 5 Tomorrow, my mom and I both have appointments afterwards, and we can’t afford a huge medical bill at the moment. (My mom barely brings home enough for groceries after her bills, im just starting this job too), I love my cat to pieces and it worries me to see her in pain and being able to tell us exactly what’s wrong.
I don’t have a picture because I don’t know where she’s hiding and she won’t sit still long enough so I can take one.
UPDATE: My mom told me she’s gonna leave work early on the excuse of a doctor’s appointment (which we have often so it’s more believable) and get our cat examined. I told my mom she can use what’s left of the cash I have on me, she insisted she didn’t want to but I told her “She’s first before anything else, I’d do anything to make her feel better and not in pain.”

Hi ! I’ new to dog sitting and dogs in general, im dog sitting for my family on vacation for 6 weeks (back mid 3rd week of july), dog is a 9.5 month old doxie. First 3 days with him have gone great (weekend) I work full time 8-4 M-F, i walk him before work 7am to go pee/poo, once after work 5pm, then i leave again for 2 hours to help a sick family member, come back around 8pm and walk him again, i play with him overnight before bed, during the day i leave pee pads, water bowls (2) and 1 food bowl, and a plethora of toys. But i still stress with the idea of the dog all alone, scared he might die or something. Am I doing the right thing so far? any advice?
