Lauren Boebert Timeline
The more I read about the reality of her early life, she's clearly a victim of her horrible circumstances. What follows is somewhat of an exercise in victim blaming, and I don't like that that's what it is. This is not to blame her for being what she is, but to help people see how well the right can spin a shitty person's life into a "bastion of conservatism" or whatever bullshit.
Provide sources for corrections, I will edit!
Lauren Opal Roberts born: 12/19/86. Her mother Shawn(a) Roberts Bentz was 18, unmarried when Lauren was born. No father's name was listed on her 1986 Florida birth certificate, nor in the local newspaper's birth announcement. But it might be this Stan guy. Stan was 33 when Lauren was born, and he was about 15 years older than her mother. The paternity dispute story linked above has so many twists and turns that you could not make this up if you tried. TOTAL CONJECTURE SECTION: Stan may have told Lauren's mother to get an abortion upon being informed of the pregnancy. This would naturally lead Lauren to be "pro-life". Shawna was 17 when Lauren was conceived, and Stan likely thought he would get in trouble with the law for impregnating someone so young. He did not provide child support.
Lauren's Future Husband: Jayson Steven Boebert born: 12/6/1980
Lauren moved to Aurora, Colorado at some point 1998-2001, and then Rifle, Colorado in ~2003. While she was born in a "rich" town in Florida, her mother supposedly lived in a trailer park at the time.
On January 28, 2004, Lauren was present when Jayson was arrested for drunkenly exposing himself to minors at a bowling alley, Lauren would have just turned 17 one month prior. Jayson had recently turned 23. The youngest person exposed to Jayson's genitalia was Trisha - 16 years and 4 months old. He told her something like: "I have a tattoo of your name on my dick" before exposing himself. He was given four days in jail.
TWO WEEKS LATER, February 11, 2004, Jayson Boebert was booked for domestic violence against Lauren. He paid $1413 and seven days in jail as a result. Think about that - what was the judge saying with this punishment? It led to jail time, this wasn't just Jayson slapping Lauren on the face, this must have been serious. Seven days of jail time serious. Anyone know of a similar case where we have details?
I NEED BETTER SOURCES FOR THIS: In May 2004, about three months after Jayson spent a week in jail for striking her, Lauren was charged with some sort of domestic-violence-incident-thing against Jayson. It happened at his home, while she was drunk (and age 17). Details from the court proceedings are not available. Jayson was still 23. Wonder where she got the booze... TOTAL CONJECTURE SECTION: Maybe she was already pregnant? Maybe court records aren't available because if they were she would have had a domestic violence record and therefore couldn't own a firearm? Or maybe the judge wanted her to be able to have a firearm to defend herself against Jayson, so domestic abuse charges were dropped? We need details here. Seriously, we need details. If you get a chance to ask her a question, this is THE QUESTION. Given that her husband has a domestic violence record, according to Colorado Law, he shouldn't be able to own a firearm. (Anyone have a source for this? I'm going off of someone's Reddit comment as a source, which is why it's in the conjecture part)
Her first child was likely conceived ONE MONTH LATER in June 2004, when she was around 17 years and 5 months-ish old.
She was probably supposed to graduate high school in June 2004. Mocking her for only having a GED (that she earned(paid for?) shortly before being elected to congress in 2018) is inappropriate - unless the rumors about having paid someone else to take the tests are true. I've only heard rumors, nothing conclusive at all. There is also the possibility that she actually never got her GED.
Lauren's first child was born sometime during March 2005, when she was 18 years and two-ish months old. Jayson was 24.
But wait. Does anyone have any of the yearbooks from Rifle High 2001-2004? She's said she dropped out of high school to "take care of her family", “I was a brand-new mom, and I had to make hard decisions on successfully raising my child, or getting to high school biology class. And I chose to take care of my child,”. But it appears that she got pregnant at the end of her senior year, June 2004, the same month she was supposed to graduate, no? Unless she was actually meant to graduate in 2005, which could make sense, otherwise she would have only been at most a month pregnant when she was supposed to graduate. We need a bit of clarification here. Again, I'm willing to accept that she was actually supposed to graduate high school in June 2005, especially if her educate was delayed by a year. This could go either way - she said she was "forced" to leave high school according to this article. If someone is willing to get her book, we could maybe tell some of these details by what was happening surrounding her 9/11 remembrance. Is there a video of this?
She was managing a McDonald's around 2005. Jayson was supposedly working in oil and gas, which should have been enough income to support both of them, right? Unless maybe (TOTAL CONJECTURE) he was subject to child support payments back then?
In 2006 at age 19, she registered to vote, as a Democrat. Weird, but even weirder, from her wikipedia page: her mother was registered as a Republican at the time, and then in 2015 changed her registration to Democratic. There is considerable conflict with regards to claims about her mother's politics.
They married in 2005 or 2007 depending on the source.
In 2008 she changed her party affiliation to Republican.
In 2010 her house was lost to foreclosure.
WOAH, does she not have six toes in the third picture? https://www.thelaurenboebert.com/post/lauren-s-short-lived-modeling-career

2022.07.07 07:21 Significant-Notice- Illegal markets in everything

The operator of a Colorado funeral home who was accused of stealing body parts and selling them to medical and scientific buyers, making hundreds of thousands of dollars in what the authorities called an “illegal body part scheme,” pleaded guilty to mail fraud on Tuesday, the Justice Department said.
The woman, Megan Hess, 45, the principal figure in the scheme, was assisted by her mother, Shirley Koch, who is in her late 60s, prosecutors said. As part of a plea agreement, eight other criminal charges against Ms. Hess were dropped. She could face up to 20 years in prison.
“I exceeded the scope of the consent and I’m trying to make an effort to make it right,” Ms. Hess said in United States District Court in Grand Junction, Colo., on Tuesday, according to The Daily Sentinel. “I’m taking responsibility.”
Here is more from the NYT. And this service “retrieves your dead loved ones’ tattoos and preserves them as framed mementos.” Not illegal.

2022.06.12 01:00 budgethubertusbigend Notes on the 2022 Mesa County Republican Primary

Notes on the 2022 Mesa County Republican Primary

The 2022 Mesa County Republican Primary races from my ballot
As a Mesa County unaffiliated voter who usually votes for Democrats, I think it’s important to support candidates who will protect our democracy and its institutions. I’m going to vote in the Republican Primary this year. My notes are based on my research of the candidates. I appreciate honest feedback, but I won’t tolerate bullshit.
About my views: The “big lie” undermines our democracy. The Jan 6 riots were a treasonous insurrection and attempted coup. I want my kid to be able to vote for his leaders, so I’m opposing the obvious fascists and supporting folks who will protect our elections. If you disagree with any of these statements, you should probably move on, there won't be much for you here.
I’m putting more important races at the top.
Secretary of State - Tina Peters, Mike O’Donnell, Pam Anderson.
I’m voting for Pam Anderson. Tina Peters is a “big lie” supporting fascist and is under indictment for the mess she made as Clerk. (See: lots of coverage of this in the GJ Sentinel, etc)
I can’t find O’Donnell’s position on the “big lie”, but he’s in a distant third place in this race.
Pam Anderson has county and city clerk experience and has gone on the record as anti-“big lie”. I can live with Anderson as Sec State. I think she’s on the side of democracy.
https://ballotpedia.org/Pam_Anderson_(Colorado))
County Clerk and Recorder - Julie Fisher vs Bobbie Gross
I’m voting for Bobbie Gross. Fisher is associated with Tina Peters, is wrapped up in her mess, and is a “big lie” supporter.
Gross worked for Sheila Reiner when she was Clerk. She’s got experience in running elections and denounced the violence on Jan 6th. I think Gross will support fair and free elections.
https://patch.com/colorado/denvemeet-two-republicans-vying-replace-tina-peters-mesa-county
Congress District 3 - Don Coram vs Laruen Boebert.
I’m voting for Coram ‘cuz Boebert sucks. ‘Nuff said.
County Treasurer - Sheila Reiner unopposed
I’m voting for Sheila Reiner. She was designated election official (shared with Wayne Williams) when Peters was removed from that role. I probably disagree with her on lots of political issues, but I think she’s honest, so she’s earned my vote.
County Sheriff - Todd Rowell vs Bob Dalley.
I’m voting for Todd Rowell. Dalley has said he thinks Biden didn’t win the election fairly, which makes me think he’s a “big lie” supporter. I don’t know Rowell’s position on this, but I probably prefer him to Dalley.
https://www.gjsentinel.com/news/western_colorado/rowell-dalley-face-off-for-gop-sheriffs-primary/article_c62792b2-e382-11ec-974f-07aebfff4251.html
State Rep District 55 - Trish Weber, Rick Taggart.
I watched this video about the Redlands Rotary’s debate but didn’t see anything that would make me prefer either. This coverage was pretty limp and their responses about gun violence were boring. I need some feedback on this one. I know Weber is a medical doctor and Taggart’s currently on the GJ city council.
https://www.westernslopenow.com/news/local-news/colorado-house-district-55-debate/]
US Senator - Ron Hanks vs Joe O’Dea.
I’m voting for Joe O’Dea. Hanks was at the Jan 6 insurrection and is on record as supporting the “big lie”. O’Dea sounds like the lesser evil here. I don’t think either of these guys has shot at beating Bennett in the general.
https://www.denverpost.com/2022/06/08/2022-colorado-senate-primary-odea-hanks-republican-nomination/
Governor - Greg Lopez vs Heidi Ganahl
I won’t vote on this one. Total yawnsville. Neither is gonna beat Polis in the general.

2022.04.06 22:51 Skye000000 6/12/2009; Glenwood Springs, CO: A set of dismembered remains is discovered on an apple orchard. The remains are later identified as Janine Johler, a woman who was living 170 miles away in Aurora. Who killed her?

The Incident
On June 12, 2009, a teenager working at an apple orchard discovered a dismembered body that had been placed in several trash bags and covered up with tree branches. Not all of the remains were recovered, and the body had been so thoroughly dismembered that the coroner's office was unable to determine a cause of death.
Initially, the teenager said that the body was likely that of a girl aged between ten and twelve, but this later proved to be incorrect. On June 20, the body was identified as Janine Ann Johler, a 38-year-old white female from Aurora who had been reported missing by her family on May 7, 2009, and was last seen on May 1, 2009.

Background
Janine Johler was a 38-year-old resident of Aurora, CO. She was the youngest girl in her family, and was described as a caring woman who had "an infectious smile and a big heart", despite having led a rough life. At the age of 15, she was left disabled after a car crash, walking with a limp and requiring a cane. She didn't drive. In addition, friends who knew Janine told investigators that she had a "diminished mental capacity".
In the late 2000s, Janine was in the midst of one of many rough patches in her life. She was frequently abusing drugs and alcohol, and was occasionally resorting to prostitution to make money. Her on-again-off-again boyfriend beat her, to the point where Janine had a permanent restraining order against him. However, Sue Kleppen, Janine's mother, said that Janine was doing better before her death. She was attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and remained dedicated to her family, making sure to call Sue every day. When Sue visited her daughter in late April, 2009, she said that Janine appeared to be doing "fairly well".
However, that quickly changed. A week later Janine had a breakdown and was hospitalized. Sue talked to Janine while she was in in-patient care and begged her daughter to remain in the hospital, something Janine didn't want to do. When Sue called the hospital the next morning, they said that Janine had checked out and been picked up by somebody. Janine had been dropped off at her apartment, but later left in the middle of the night, which was the last time anybody saw her.

The Investigation
Even before the body was found, Janine's boyfriend immediately became the prime suspect in her disappearance. However, he was ruled out just as quickly, as he had been in jail on the night she disappeared.
After the body was found, authorities were left with no suspects, or too many suspects, depending how you look at it. Working as a prostitute put Janine in contact with an endless number of shady characters. Janine's friends, as well as transients who frequented the area were interviewed, but investigators were unable to develop any good leads.
Another thing that investigators were lacking was a murder site. No blood was found anywhere near the dump site, meaning that Janine wasn't killed there. Sue Kleppen says she believes her daughter was killed in the Denver metro area and that her body was taken to Glenwood Springs to be dumped. This means that the killer likely drove for approximately three hours to dump the body. Thomas Williams, a local who lived near the orchard said, "It looked to me like somebody pulled up to the road going up Canyon Creek* and then just threw it off the side of the road and it ended up in the orchard."
In 2014, the Investigations Division at the Garfield County Sheriff's Office found itself with a mostly-new team. Investigator Megan Alstatt and a commander re-read the entire case file, audited the evidence, and re-interviewed people that had been spoken to in 2009, but any possible leads they investigated hit the same dead ends that the original investigators ran into: a lack of a crime scene, and a lack of good suspects.

Current Status
Despite only occurring thirteen years ago, this case is ice cold. Authorities did not find any fingerprints on the bags wrapped around Janine's remains or DNA on her body that linked to the killer. Despite the 2014 re-investigation, it seems like investigators have been able to make very little progress on this case. Despite the lack of forensic evidence and suspects, Alstatt has said that she "100 percent believe[s] this is a solvable case." There's a $1000 reward available for information on this case, but it seems like it's not enough to get anyone with information on this case to talk, given the thirteen years of silence from any possible witness.
Anyone who may have information regarding Janine Johler's murder is asked to contact the Garfield County Sheriff's Office at (970) 945-0453, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation at (303) 239-4300, Garfield County Crime Stoppers at (970) 945-0101, or Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at (720) 913-7867.

Notes
*The property that Janine was found on is adjacent to Garfield County Road 137, also known as Canyon Creek Road, which is located approximately parallel to the 109 mile mark of Interstate 70. The area of the discovery is located on the north side of the interstate and is approximately five miles west of the Glenwood Springs, CO.

2022.02.10 18:17 pinkshirtbadman After being previous released, arrest warrant issued for Mesa Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters

Previous discussion involving the incident here: https://www.reddit.com/Colorado/comments/snx7cc/mesa_clerk_tina_peters_freaking_out_during_search/
An arrest warrant for Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters has been issued following Tuesday's incident in which she seemingly refused to comply with a separate warrant seeking to obtain an iPad as part of an investigation. The search was for a specific device on which she allegedly had illegally recorded courtroom proceedings. An iPad was seized at that time, but Peters claims it does not belong to her, and belongs to another individual. If this is true it's probably not the device used in the original crime. If this is a different device any evidence of the original recording may no longer exist.
She has since turned herself in and posted $500 bond, she is due back in court in early March and faces counts of obstructing a peace officer, a class 2 misdemeanor, and obstructing government operations, a class 3 misdemeanor.
Other additional charges may be forthcoming as well. A DA investigator at the original scene on Tuesday advised Police Officers that he had probable cause to charge an unspecified woman involved in that incident Peters with felony "Tampering with Physical evidence" (likely Peters, but she was with a party of other individuals). Officers stated after she left the scene that they were informed the DA would not be pursing charges. This new warrant (for obstruction) was issued on the request of one of the responding officers so that may change. Turns out the DA instructed the officers not to place her under arrest at the time because the DA’s office said it believed it could potentially have evidence to file a tampering with evidence charge separately from obstruction charges, according to the affidavit. (IANAL, but this seems slightly odd to me. As other posters have mentioned if the iPad that was obtained Tuesday is indeed not the same one from the courtroom, not arresting her then gave her the opportunity to delete said evidence at home. Unless that was the plan... give her just enough rope for her to make things worse for herself . While I think this woman definitely deserves to be behind bars for this and her many other crimes those sort of games to get to that point make me a little uneasy)
The original warrant for the iPad states if the allegations about recording in in the courtroom turn out to be true this would lead to prosecution for the crime of "Attempt to influence a public servant" she'll likely also be charged with contempt of court for lying to the judge about the recording as it was happening.

https://kdvr.com/news/arrest-warrant-issued-for-clerk-and-recorder-tina-peters/
Edit: a few typos. Couldn't fix the one in the title though... Second edit, added a little additional information regarding the DA's given reasoning for not making the arrest the day of the incident

ABC has a recent story with the following lede
President Joe Biden's push to enlist volunteers, including local doctors and pastors, to go "literally knocking on doors" to encourage vaccinations in some states sparked an outcry this week among conservatives, who mischaracterized the effort as the deployment of government agents to strong-arm reluctant Americans.
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/conservatives-distort-bidens-pledge-knock-doors-people-vaccinated/story?id=78731796
It reminds me of some of the "death panels" hype in 2010 or so early with Obamacare. There is an element of truth but also distortion, sometimes in collaboration between right-wing media and politicians.

I find it interesting to see this play out in real time and it will be interesting to see how parallel this is to death panel hype from a decade+ ago.

Set aside the widespread norm we have of door-to-door solicitation for various purposes: sales, campaigning, fundraising (I myself was quite the tactician in collecting bottles/cans for middle school sports teams!).
For the life of me I struggle to figure out where you continue to assume ill-intent on the Biden administration with this specific issue, as well as the disregarding of the many, many other situations in society where we require vaccinations—and the widespread evidence we now have of this vaccine's efficacy.
Is it "coercive" to have commercials pushing for the vaccine? Or public statements from administration leaders, including Biden himself? What about the various incentives state governments—Democratic-led and GOP-led—created to motivate vaccine usage, including "lottery like" programs? Is that coercion, too?
Or we could call it what it is: all-hands-on-deck efforts to encourage citizens to do what is best for not only them individually but also for their country to expedite the end of a public health crisis the likes of which we haven't seen for a near-century.

It reminds me of some of the "death panels" hype in 2010 or so early with Obamacare. There is an element of truth but also distortion, sometimes in collaboration between right-wing media and politicians.
