2023.04.01 21:47 Guilty-Asparagus-879 32 [M4F] #Williamsburg - Anyone up for a date this evening? It's a beautiful day for some drinks, laughs, and maybe more if we click!

Hey all! I'm a 32M in Williamsburg looking to meet a kind-hearted lady for a genuine connection. It's a gorgeous day here in Brooklyn, so I thought I'd see if anybody might be up for a date this evening! Maybe drinks? Maybe sharing a joint in the park? Maybe wandering the streets and waxing poetic about life? Maybe take things back to one of our places if the vibe is right? The world is our oyster!
A little about me: 5'7, white, curly brown hair, and rocking a bit of a dad bod. I don't mean to brag, but I go to therapy AND I own a bedframe - yes, we do exist!
I value direct communication, dedication to ridiculous bits, dad jokes, and I'm obsessed with music. Metal/Punk/Alternative/Indie is my sweet spot, so if you're the same, we've already got a lot to talk about! Also love stand-up, video games, and a cozy movie night in from time to time too.
If I've piqued your interest, I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to stalk my profile to see some past posts where I go into more detail about who I am and what I'm looking for. If you send a picture, I'm happy to respond in kind!
Thanks for reading, hope to see you tonight!

2023.04.01 18:58 crimehive How Bernie Madoff Was Caught: Biggest Ponzi Scheme Ever

On April 29, 1938, Bernie Madoff was born in Queens, New York. Madoff comes from Europe. Ralph and Sylvia, his parents, didn't have it easy in New York, especially since they had to endure what is now referred to as The Great Depression. The lifestyles of Ralph, a plumber, and Sylvia, a housewife, were not exactly luxurious. They started working in finance in the 1960s, but just as the son would later get involved in shady business practices, his parents were briefly shut down by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission because Sylvia, whose name was on the company, had "failed to file reports of their financial condition."
Even though the business was shut down in 1964, there were no fines or consumer payments owed. Bernie was only 26 years old at the time. Also, it was rumored that Ralph owed large sums of money in federal taxes; possibly this is why Sylvia's name was given to the corporation. There can be no doubt that these two shady parents sent their kid on a mission to wreck the economy, even though they both passed away in the 1970s.
Madoff reportedly took some time to enter the finance industry because, like any young lad, he was more interested in females and sports, particularly swimming. He married a high school sweetheart in 1959, and in 1960 he earned his degree from Hofstra University in Long Island. Madoff began law school, dropped out, and began following in his parents' financial footsteps with the $5,000 he had made as a lifeguard and his part-time job installing sprinkler systems.
In addition to the $5,000, he borrowed an additional $50,000 to launch Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities, LLC, which is now arguably the most notorious investment company ever founded. The company had a good outside. It was reputed to be a reliable "market maker." According to the website investing-answers, this is defined as being a person or brokerage firm that "is always available to buy and sell assets to give liquidity to the markets."
Simply put, to keep the wheels moving, they buy when people sell and sell when people buy. They invest when people are selling, not when a stock increases in value. According to Investopedia, the presence of market traders would result in more transactions between investors and traders, which would benefit the market as a whole. However, how do they gain money by taking such risks? They do, however, charge a little bit more when they sell the shares they purchased.
A bid-ask spread is what this is called. We can't get into too much detail on the operation of the stock exchange, therefore that is a simple explanation. We need to look into how Mr. Madoff acquired his billions, though. He was highly renowned, as we already mentioned, for providing excellent returns on the funds he handled for his clients. Supposedly, Kevin Bacon and Steven Spielberg were among those clients.
Madoff was regarded as a good man in the financial industry. NASDAQ, also known as the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations, was founded with his assistance, and he served three years as its chairman. His brother, Peter, was on the board of directors of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association for two years and made gifts to charitable organizations and political candidates.
When Madoff was first looked at in 1992, it wasn't until later investigations by private companies that they discovered what they called "inconsistencies" that appeared to be a fraud. For years, investigators had stated that the profits Madoff claimed to be making seemed to be beyond belief.
Financial expert Harry Markopolos had been warning people for years that something didn't seem right. Unfortunately for them, the Securities and Exchange Commission ignored him despite his repeated requests and mounting evidence of what appeared to be a hoax. Yet, he wasn't the only one who didn't believe the figures; many people shied away from doing business with Madoff. But how did Madoff get his hands on the money of so many?
What he had is known as a Ponzi Scheme, which is, to put it simply, a fraud that promises extremely high returns on investments. It was called after Charles Ponzi, who promised to return 50% extra of any money you provided him in just 90 days if you did. Sounds fantastic, but once you pay out the first few, word spreads that there is, in fact, a significant return, and soon plenty of people want to become involved.
While expanding, you continue to accept new investments and use that money to repay previous investors. The issue is that you aren't earning any money. Naturally, if every major investor demanded their money, you'd be in tremendous problems. Instead, you persuade them to retain their money invested because the return will eventually be even greater.
It's believed that Madoff and his closest employees constructed phony stocks that appeared to offer high profits while also manipulating trade records using a computer program. On paper, it appeared that he was making money to the undiscerning eye. When his clients demanded a total refund of $7 billion from him, Bernie said he only had between $200 and $300 million of their money.
This well-known market maker who served on the NASDAQ board has been luring victims into a con all this time. He reportedly had a large number of investors, who collectively lost roughly $65 billion. Additionally, it is estimated that Madoff made around $20 billion.
He reportedly confessed to his sons Andrew and Mark that he had been operating a Ponzi Scheme when they confronted him. Everything, he claimed, was "simply one giant lie." Despite the fact that Madoff's brother Peter was a part of the fraud, the sons were unaware of it. The sons found this difficult, and they both passed away shortly after, Mark by suicide and Andrew by lymphoma.
Although many people who lost money won't get much, if anything, back, the U.S. government assured 24,000 victims in 2017 that a total of $772.5 million would be divided among them. On December 11, 2008, Madoff was taken into custody and accused of securities fraud. He had enough money to cover his bail, which was set at $10 million.
He was put under house arrest for a few months before the bail was revoked because the judge believed Madoff posed a flight risk. In 2009, at the age of 71, he received a 150-year prison term. On November 14, 2139, at the age of 201, he will be released if he maintains good behavior. Of course, that won't happen, and it appears the con artist may have gotten the last laugh.
He got sick a lot in jail because of the stress and other inmates also ended up harming him. Some people say that the attack didn't happen, which is very far from the truth. This could be true, since Madoff said in a letter to his son-in-law, “They call me either Uncle Bernie or Mr. Madoff. I can't walk anywhere without someone shouting their greetings and encouragement, to keep my spirit up. It's really quite sweet, how concerned everyone is about my well-being, including the staff.”
Reliable news sources say it's funny that Madoff used his skills to take advantage of certain markets while in prison. One man who was writing an audio series about Madoff said, “At one point, he cornered the hot chocolate market,” He also said, "He bought all of the Swiss Miss from the commissary and sold it in the prison yard for a profit. He made it so that, if you wanted any, you had to go through Bernie.”
The dark prince of Ponzi, the true wolf of Wall Street, and it appears that he is now a cunning prison salesman of Swiss Miss in his retirement, is one of the largest con artists in the history of the globe.

2023.04.01 18:30 Isaiah_6_8 Please advise me on these older mirrorless cameras

tldr Fujifilm xt100, lumix lx10, om_d e-m10, Olympus e-p1. Thoughts? suggestions on modern p/s?

I had a Fujifilm xt20 and x10-- loved both of them but I needed to sell both last year to financially recover from the pandemic. I regret it deeply :(
I've tried my very best to enjoy taking photos with my mobile phone (Galaxy s8), but the experience just isn't there. I may even consider a point and shoot.
So... I've been scouring the 2nd hand markets-- damn, those prices! I thought I'd be able to afford my old setups, but it looks like they're a few hundred dollars out of my budget.
However, I did come across 4 contenders:
Fujifilm xt100 ($200, body)- most similar to my old xt20. Lenses are somewhat costly.
Lumix lx10 ($450)- possibly the most similar form factor to the Fujifilm x10 being a fixed lens and has aperture"rings"... but a bit high on the price range.
Omd em10 with a lumix 14-45mm ($250)- I'm pretty sure that this the original version. I've been considering the MFT cameras a lot, lately. I really like the size and the lenses are definitely much more budget friendly than the Fujifilm system.
Olympus e-p1 ($100, body)- cheapest, probably the oldest, and most basic of my choices.
I've read up on these models and watched several YouTube videos. I try to stick to the older review videos and avoid those "is the [camera] still worth it in 2023" type ones.
I live in the city so "street" is most likely the genre id place myself in. That said, I prefer shooting wide... and this stems from using my phone's camera before I picked up my xt20. Quick AF would be great, but not necessary. I've almost always used the viewfinder... but if I can take photos with my phone, then no viewfinder should be ok, right?
SOOC is good, but I do enjoy the process of editing. Photos will more than likely not be printed so MP isn't that important. User interface (menu and physical button/dial layouts is important.
I'm hoping anyone could give me their opinions and suggestions on a camera, not limited to what's mentioned, to look out for.
I'm leaning more towards small form cameras these days... so the MFT system is looking great. A pricier p&s could be an option too. I was looking at the Fujifilm xf10, Ricoh GR 2 or 3.

2023.04.01 17:54 hopeless_romantic19 AITA for not moving my roommates car every day while she’s on vacation

We have a driveway, but it’s super snowy and our landlord doesn’t do snow removal. I live in a small ski town that got 7 feet of snow in March. The driveway is very snowy and if we don’t shovel our spot we can’t park. If we park on the street we have to move our cars to the opposite side of the street every day to allow snow trucks to plow the banks. I don’t mind moving my own car but I can barely remember to move it everyday as I have a lot in my mind. My car got towed recently and it cost me $200 to retrieve it. Also, it’s been snowing a ton so everyday it takes extra work most days to shovel off my car to be able to move it.
My roommate had several days and almost a week to get together a plow for our driveway (or she could have shoveled!) to park her car there for THREE weeks+ while she’s gone. She asked me and my other roomie earlier in the week if we wanted to shovel the driveway together. I was busy with work so I couldn’t at the time she proposed. My other roommate responded that had already shoveled out her spot and my other roommates has been parking in our driveway. That’s what I would have done. I personally think she really needed to figure out a safe longer term storage for her car for several weeks while she was gone.
At the last minute hours before she leeaves i hear her giving her keys to my other roommate and my other roommate reluctantly agreeing to move her car and figure out a shovel for her car. And my name is even brought up in the convo as someone who will help be responsible to move her car and ensure it doesn’t get towed. I am tempted to let it get towed. I don’t wanna be responsible for it not getting towed for a month….
After overhearing this conversation I told her over text I didn’t want to be responsible for it on the street. I felt like an asshole, but its a boundary I needed to set or else I knew I would be resentful. It’s frankly asking a lot of someone.
AITA for not volunteering to move and shovel my roommates car everyday on the street?

2023.04.01 16:11 ChiTownGuy312 Fully Electric Car in City

In the market for a new car. Anyone here own a fully electric car in the city, but DOES NOT own their own charger? How has that experience been?
We live in a condo and street park. Our neighborhood is really quiet and residential, but there’s no way for us to get our own charger. There’s Jewels and Marianos about half mile from us with chargers. How realistic is it to rely on public charging stations 100% of the time?
I do drive 60 miles a day for work, so if a car gets ~200 miles I would probably need to charge 2-3x per weeks.

2023.04.01 15:24 Nearby-Complaint Is Chicago's Holy Name Cathedral Truly Haunted?

--
Chicago is known for its mob culture of the early twentieth century, which ended in the deaths of dozens of Chicagoans, both mob-adjacent and innocent locals. What if they were still with us?
--
The year is 1926. America is in the midst of the Roaring Twenties and spirits are high. The economy is flourishing, the first World War has been won, and the arts are blossoming. However, there is a seedy underbelly looming under the United States - Prohibition. From 1919 to 1933, the United States government banned the legal sale of alcohol by all, as established by the Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution and ratified by the majority of states. Despite its popularity amongst the government, Prohibition remained largely frowned upon by the general public, and alcohol consumption never truly died out. Instead, gangs of outlaws ran the show, commonly known as 'bootleggers'. While some bootleggers were no more than petty criminals, others were seasoned in the lifestyle and made big bucks skirting the law.
At the start of Prohibition, Chicago's North Side Gang seized control of the still-standing breweries on the North Side of Chicago, still functional, and used them to monopolize the production of their very own beers and whiskies. Their rivals, the Chicago Outfit, lacked access to breweries and were thus stuck dealing in primarily 'bathtub gin'. The North Side gang used Schofield's Flower Shop, a front ran by Dean O'Banion, (in what is now the Magnificent Mile) as a front for their nefarious activities, though they were in no real danger from local authorities as a result of their many powerful ties amongst Chicago's upper crust. O'Banion, the Catholic son of Irish immigrants, helped many a Chicagoan political hopeful in their quest for election fraud and maintained a charitable public persona amongst North Siders. The crew also aligned themselves with the Chicago Police Department, holding lavish banquets and parties for politicians of all stripes, who in turn granted them de-facto legal protection.
However, tensions between the North Side Gang and the Chicago Outfit loomed over both sides' successes. Petty disputes ran rampant between the two, mostly owing to O'Banion's sharp temper, which left him on the wrong side of the high and mighty within the Chicago Outfit, primarily Johnny Torrio. Despite a so-called alliance brokered between the groups, things never truly settled down. A particularly ill-fated spat between the two started when O'Banion offered to sell the Sieben Brewery, one of the breweries under their control, to Torrio, who didn't recognize that he was being double crossed. On May 19, 1924, while Torrio was out inspecting the property, O'Banion called the police on him, who raided the property and arrested him. Upon his release from jail six months later, Torrio was furious and sicced his men on O'Banion, who was shot to death at his flower shop.
Within weeks of his death, O'Banion's protégée, Hymie Weiss, usurped his position as the gang's leader, and swore that he'd get his revenge. Earl 'Hymie' Weiss, born Henryk Wojciechowski, was one of five surviving children born to Polish-American immigrants living on the North Side of Chicago and a gangster so feared that he was known as the only man to frighten Al Capone. While Weiss himself was born in Sieradz, Poland, the family immigrated to the states when he was a young child, first living in Buffalo, New York, before relocating to Chicago. Weiss' mother claims that he was a well-behaved child led astray by bad influences, like those of Dean O'Banion, six years his senior, at the time a leader of the Market Street Gang.
Weiss maintained the flower shop's facade, using it as a home base for his gang as the rivals volleyed cheap hits back and forth for the next two years. That all changed at 4 p.m. on Oct. 11, 1926. It was an unseasonably warm autumn day, and Weiss's crew were returning to their headquarters when shots rang out from across the street. Shot ten times by a submachine gun, Hymie Weiss collapsed in the middle of State Street, dead at the scene. Bullets pierced the nearby Holy Name Cathedral, a Roman Catholic Church rebuilt after the Chicago Fire. His associate Patrick 'Paddy' Murray was also killed at the scene. Hymie's bodyguard, Sam Pellar, confused in all the chaos, returned fire towards where he'd heard the shooters, but unintentionally struck Hymie once again. Chicago Police determined that Sicilian mobster Jack McGurn was likely behind the shootout that day, though he evaded capture until his death a decade later.
However, it seems as though Hymie Weiss is not resting peacefully. Bullet holes still remain visible on cornerstone of the church almost a century after his death, despite many attempts to either patch or fill them. Some attempts have been received with mortar that refuses to dry, whereas with others, the wall outright rejects the patching and ejects it back onto the ground. In recent years, visitors to the church have claimed to see unexpected orbs of light floating around the cornerstone in their photos, while others have claimed to spot shadowy figures walking along the alleyways beside the building. Tony Szabelski, a local Chicagoan tour guide and amateur ghost hunter, claims that the ghost of Hymie Weiss remains where he died, haunting the pedestrians of State Street, though others in his field firmly believe Weiss occupies that cathedral itself.
---
Additional remarks:
McGurn was himself shot to death at a bowling alley located in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago in 1936 by three unknown assailants. By this point, his poor behavior and alcoholism had gotten him hot water with the Chicago Outfit, and some suspected them to be responsible for his murder. McGurn's brother vowed to get revenge for his death, but was also shot by three unknown gunmen less than a month later. Police suspected their deaths were related. The bowling alley is now a Dunkin Donuts.
-
Torrio moved to Italy in the mid-1920s, relinquishing control to Al Capone. Pressure from fascist dictator Benito Mussolini led him back to the states, where he was arrested for tax evasion in 1936 and officially sent to prison for financial crimes three years later. He was released in 1941, and lived in the New York City borough of Brooklyn for the rest of his life. Torrio died in 1957 of a heart attack at the age of 75.

Bloons TD 6 - Update Notes! Version 36.0

Bloons TD 6 v36.0 - Update Notes!

Hello and welcome! We decided to release the balance notes a little ahead of time! Enjoy!
Update video: https://youtu.be/_Nq4f9n2vdU

Key New Features

  • New Tower - Mr Beast Handler
    • chomp, rawr, kakaw!
    • So much to say about this tower, but mainly we so hope you enjoy it!
    • The first never before seen tower to join the BTD universe since the Druid and Alchemist at launch almost 5 years ago.
    • This tower plays and gains power in a completely unique way, and there are intentional tradeoffs along the way - you need to choose the right time to Merge beasts or just like any other tower whether more separate and lower-power beasts are situationally better.
    • This is a Support class tower, so seeing how it works with your favorite builds is part of the fun.
    • BTW making cool-looking giant beasts pop Bloons has been pretty awesome, even though it took us twice as long as expected. Thanks for your patience!!!
  • Quests! Quests are self-contained challenges with their own special rules, difficulty, and unlock requirements. Patch joins the main menu and acts as the entry point for the Quest system. The intent along with fun gameplay is to sprinkle more story into the game, teaching certain strategies, introducing game modes, trying out items before unlocking them, as well as being a place for us to experiment with new mechanics. Did someone say special missions? No we didn’t say that for 36, but definitely downstream.
  • With the launch of the Quests system we have 3 beginner Quests aimed towards newer players. In future updates we will expand this with mid-rank, high rank, and expert level Quests that will introduce higher level ideas and challenges.
    • Beast Handler Quest - The Dartling Gunner unlocks via a basic pop target objective, but this was a simple system and had nothing to do with the tower itself. To unlock the Beast Handler with this update, rank 40+ players will take on a short adventure using the lower tiers of this tower.
    • Race Introduction - When Races unlock at rank 20, they can be quite an intimidating system to start learning. Now rank 20+ players will be able to access their first persistent race, available from the Quest menu. This is a short introduction aimed at new players, or players new to Races. More challenging Race Quests will be added in the future.
    • Quincy’s Trial - All players start the game with Quincy available, and now from the Quest menu or from Quincy's profile on the Hero menu players will be able to engage in a short mission showcasing his strengths, like missing pink bloons

New Awesome

  • New Map - Polyphemus
    • No, Lotus Island was never going to be the only stop on that epic journey
    • Your next adventure is Polyphemus, whose one great eye closes over any towers in its site. Never fear, unlike Monkdyseus, your crew is not dead, just out of play until you can open the eye again.
    • Another one made with challenges in mind, and yes, we’ll look for other uses for this mechanic in the future.
  • New Achievements - a simple intro to quests with: Side Quest, World League Training
  • New Trophy Store Items
    • Monkeys: Tack Shooter Hedgehog pet, Village - Philippines Flag, Village - Trans Flag
    • Bloons: Lobster BFB skin, true camo DDT skin, suspicious visor
    • Game & UI: Avatar73 - Necromancer, Avatar74 - Darts, Avatar75 - Gravelord Lych, Avatar76 - Sun Hat Adora
  • Competition Winning items
    • Banner29 - community banner by ratcrunch - Avatar of Darkness
  • Limited Time only
    • Alchemist Flower splash projectiles, Banner29 - Blossom Temple
  • New CT Team Store items
    • Base Props: Dino Spring Egg, Cake Baker Monkey
    • Icons: Overclocked Icon, Choc Bunny icon
    • Frames: Bloon From The Dead frame, Flower Burst frame

Game Changes / Additions

  • Reworked towers with secondary attack target options to use a smaller icon for this target that is no longer linked to the target priority display. We apologize to the players who were comfortable with the “buttonized” target priorities, but many players were confused by that implementation, so we’re hoping this is a better, clearer UI for all.
  • Added option to enter Races with Monkey Money even if Race Passes are owned

Bug Fixes & General Changes

Boomerang Monkey
  • 5xx Glaive Lord and Glaive Dominus Rotating Glaives now visually change direction with the change hand targeting
Banana Farm
  • can now be purchased in Deflation and CHIMPS (they still will not make money)
  • gains a pop count display and pop count now properly appears on Named Monkey records
  • 420, 520, 024, and 025 Farm; fixed bug where the More Valuable Bananas MK was not being used when buffed by a xx4 Village
  • x3x Monkey Bank and above can withdraw using the 'Change Targeting' hotkey and withdraw all using the 'Reverse Change Targeting' hotkey
  • x4x IMF Loan and above can deposit using the 'Monkey Special' hotkey
Obyn
  • fixed bug where blown back bloons were not filling up Wall of Trees
Benjamin
  • pop count now properly appears on Named Monkey records

Balance Changes

Boomerang Monkey
Even with the previous buffs, MOAR Glaives performs poorly in comparison to other cleanup towers and Glaive Lord still struggles against fortified ceramics in the late game.
  • 4xx MOAR Glaives applies a weaker shred status to the first target hit that deals 3 moab damage every 1s for 15s
  • 402 MOAR Glaives gains bonus damage to MOABs +1
  • 5xx Glaive Lord main attack gains bonus to fortified +2
  • 5xx Glaive Lord Rotating Glaives bonus to fortified increased 2 > 4
  • 5xx Glaive Lord Rotating Glaives pierce increased 80 > 160
Ice Monkey
What was once a bug is back as a feature to help its reliability as a decamo option.
  • 4xx Embrittlement gains a separate larger decamo radius (similar to Signal Flare) and can decamo whites and zebras
Glue Gunner
Despite being purported as a ceramic counter, Bloon Liquefier is terrible at dealing with large groups even with the middle crosspath and as such makes for a poor saveup to The Bloon Solver. Continuing from the changes from last update, we are giving it Relentless Glue's old behavior to help it better deal with crowds, and providing more crosspath interactions for the blobs as promised. Glue Strike and Storm are also getting some reworks to make bottom crosspath more usable.
  • 4xx Bloon Liquefier upon destroying a Bloon now drops blobs of glue on the track that deal 1 pierce of 0 damage and applies the glue status to whatever hits it
  • 5xx The Bloon Solver glue blobs damage 20 > 15
  • 5xx The Bloon Solver glue blobs lifetime 5s > 7.5s
  • 510 The Bloon Solver glue blobs pierce 1 > 2
  • 520 The Bloon Solver glue blobs pierce 1 > 5
  • 501 The Bloon Solver glue blobs lifetime 5s > 10s
  • x4x Glue Strike ability can now hit MOAB-class bloons without Corrosive Glue
  • x4x Glue Strike ability no longer weakens lead bloons
  • x4x Glue Strike ability bonus damage taken while glued reduced 2 > 1
  • 240 Glue Strike ability remains able to weaken lead bloons
  • 240 Glue Strike ability bonus damage taken while glued remains at 2
Monkey Buccaneer
Giving more utility to the underutilized crosspaths.
  • 402 Aircraft Carrier aircraft missiles damage type Explosive > Normal
  • 502 Carrier Flagship buff grants camo detection and applies to towers placed on its decks
  • 203 Merchantman end of round income 200 > 240
  • 204 Favored Trades sellback buff +10% -> +12%
  • 204 Favored Trades end of round income 500 > 600
  • 205 Trade Empire buff to xx3 limit increased 20 > 24
  • 205 Trade Empire end of round income 800 > 960
Monkey Ace
Toning back our last change to Neva-Miss, because it seems to have fallen off too much.
  • xx3 Neva-Miss Targeting price reduced from $2800 > $2400
Heli Pilot
Heli's MOAB Shove doesn't scale with higher tiers so additions have been made to the mini Comanches.
  • xx4 Comanche Defense minis gain a weaker MOAB Shove effect (50% compared to main heli)
  • xx5 Comanche Defense minis gain the full MOAB Shove effect
Mortar Monkey
Adapted from a change in Battles 2. We'll see how well it works locked to a upgrade instead of being a base tower feature. Plus giving Burny Stuff more love to make a more competitive crosspath choice for middle path.
  • xx1 Increased Accuracy adds 'Follow Touch' targeting option (hotkey: Shift + Tab)
  • 032 Heavy Shells allows burn from this tower to tic three times as fast (also expires three times as fast) and the burn inherits the bonus damages of the main attack
Wizard Monkey
Currently you need to give and remove an external range buff to reset zombie targeting. Automatic targeting for Wall of Fire refers to its old behavior prior to v33.0, where it would follow the tower's targeting priority if bloons were in range. We are also giving Arcane Blast more crosspath interactions and fixing Archmage's Dragon's Breath's range.
  • 5xx Archmage Dragon's Breath attack now matches tower's range
  • 120 Wall of Fire can target the outside of the tower's range to revert targeting back to automatic
  • x3x Dragon's Breath price increased $3000 > $3300
  • 230 Dragon's Breath flame attack ceram bonus increased 1 > 2
  • 104 Necromancer can target the zombie spawn point outside of the tower's range to revert targeting back to automatic
  • 204 Necromancer zombie gains bonus to ceramic +1
Alchemist
Acid Pools have long been unchanged and underpowered, so these changes should give it some utility while not being a Caltrops clone. AMD currently has negative synergy with Lead to Gold's primary function, so this should solve that. The BMA change is to offset some of the money lost from the shrink attack.
  • xx2 Acid Pools last +1 round, main potion attack drops Acid Pools on impact unless pierce-capped
  • xx3 Lead to Gold Acid Pools can hit camo
  • 203 Lead to Gold AMD-buffed towers also grant the $50 cash bonus when popping leads
  • 023 Lead to Gold attacking DDTs weakens them (like Glue Strike ability) and generates the $50 cash bonus
  • 204 Rubber to Gold AMD-buffed towers get the income bonus when attacking
  • 024 Rubber to Gold gains +100% income bonus on fortified MOABs
  • xx5 BMA shrink potions transforms targets into leads
Druid
Heart of Thunder was previously buffed to scale better with higher tiers, but middle path was overlooked back then.
  • 240 Jungle's Bounty (HoT) bonus damage to MOABs +2
  • 250 Spirit of the Forest (HoT) damage increased 2 > 10
  • 250 Spirit of the Forest (HoT) bonus damage to MOABs +4
Banana Farm
Giving top path reasons to go for bottom crosspath, more consistency with the middle path, and a quality of life change that lazy farmers everywhere will enjoy.
  • x4x IMF Loan and x5x Monkey-nomics ability income will now increase with external buffs
  • xx1 EZ Collect bananas can be autocollected by 041 Druids
  • xx2 Banana Salvage uncollected bananas now explode and leave banana peels that blow back bloons upon expiry. Explosions deal damage equal to their monetary value and have 20 pierce. Banana peels have pierce equal to their monetary value and lifetime equal to that of the generated bananas (money is still collected like before). If autocollected by 042 Druids, the bananas can be harvested for their full monetary value and still explode and leave peels. It also becomes able to take Alchemist buffs.
  • xx5 Monkey Wall Street autocollect range now matches the tower range and can be affected by external range buffs (including Alchemist)
Spike Factory
While Perma-Spike is already a popular and strong option, we felt this change will be a much-appreciated quality of life improvement. To offset this, we are also increasing the prices.
  • xx2 Smart Spikes gains a target selection point which can override the regular targeting options using the 'Monkey Special' hotkey
  • xx5 Perma-Spike price increased $30000 > $33000
Monkey Village
Ever since Monkeyopolis's nerf put it out of the farming meta, there remains little point in making one. This rework should make it more valuable to use again.
  • xx5 Monkeyopolis income generated exactly matches the sacrificed farms and income collection method is based on most invested farm type:
    • top path & base farms: generates crates (current behavior)
    • middle path farms: generates income and interest in a bank balance equal to sacrificed banks' capacities
    • bottom path farms: autocollects income
T4 Farm effects like the Banana Central BRF buff, bank deposits and IMF Loan abilities, and Merchantman buffs do not transfer.
Engineer Monkey
The Pin effect is currently underpowered on Sentry Champion, so these changes should help its case without being overpowering. Cleansing Foam's Sentries can currently decamo, though it is rarely useful because they need external support to even see them in the first place.
  • 502 Sentry Champion sentries can pin ceramics
  • 502 Sentry Champion sentries can pin MOAB-class bloons when exploding
  • 130 Cleansing Foam sentries can see camo
  • Master Builder's Green Sentry Paragon can now be locked
Obyn
With the rework to secondary attack target options, we can now give Obyn the ability to target all of his items individually. No idea how to meaningfully buff him though.
  • Lv3 Brambles gains a target selection point
  • Lv4 Nature's Ward Totem gains a target selection point
Benjamin
How is this not a thing yet?
  • Lv7 Bloon Trojan now follows Target Priority
Geraldo
I just think it would be neat. I have no idea what the ramifications this would have on the game balance.
  • items unlocked between Lv1 and Lv15 can now receive discounts from xx1 and xx2 Villages
  • all items can now receive discounts from Sun Temples and True Sun Gods.
If you made it all the way to end, thanks for reading! I am not affiliated with NK; this is simply a collection of my ideas for balance changes with a little April Fool's flair. It was also interesting looking back at previous path notes and trying to replicate NK's writing styles.

Some of you were saying (myself too) how does someone like her have that type of following. She buys followers and views.
See the spike in followers and views 100 a clip, that basically means she's buying followers and promoting her page. Her analytics also clearly show this. She'll get a lot of views on a video and the like and comment ratio is either off or they are bot accounts. Even in the lives we get the same people interacting, which is us and her mods most likely.

2023.04.01 10:12 Philip19967 Ultimate High Tide DD

Below is the latest in-depth and summary DD from High Tide (a leading retail-focused cannabis company with bricks-and-mortar as well as global e-commerce assets. The Company is the largest non-franchised cannabis retail chain in Canada, with 151 current locations spanning British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario) which I hope will be appreciated and shared.
What I find important to note is the following:
High Tide is valued at approximately 120 million CAD market cap with double-digit annual growth and quarterly reduced expenses, in an ultra-competitive market, a constant increase in gross margins and a turnover of over 450 million annually. The company trades at 0.5 times the sales… These few lines, in addition to the in-depth and exhaustive dd, should make us reflect on the true value of the company and not on what the market values it now.
Earnings are expected after markets close tomorrow, enjoy reading :)

High Tide's strategy is unique and farsighted, given the number of companies currently competing with themselves and the market saturation which increasingly reduces margins, but this does not affect High Tide.

This was a DATA DRIVEN decision based on successful pilot programs
Membership in this loyalty program is FREE. Every person who walks into a Canna Cabana sees a high cost for non-members, and a discounted cost for members. When they realize signing up for FREE with their email address and phone # (SMS) makes them a MEMBER of the CABANA CLUB, they will do so in order to save money on that purchase and future purchases.
Stores are stocked w/ HIGH MARGIN products like consumption accessories, CBD, and house brands of shatter & gummies & prerolls -- with other form factors later.
Market Share and Same Store Sales growth are WAY up (see Q3 ER recap above) Q over Q while the other retailers (& USA MSOs btw) are seeing declines.
MEANING OF THE ACQUISITION OF NULEAF NATURALS [acquired on 11/22/21]https://hightideinc.com/high-tide-continues-expansion-into-global-cbd-market-with-acquisition-of-colorado-based-nuleaf-naturals/ Headquartered in Denver CO, NuLeaf Naturals is one of the leading CBD brands in the United States in terms of CBD blend research and intellectual property, rapid growth, and industry-leading margins. $16 million of the ~$20 million in revenue is directed to the consumer, but the expanding deal with Sprouts will allow for B&M's wider retail distribution. It is notable that their facility is cGMP certified. It can generate up to 60,000 vegan soft-gels per hour, or 25% of their activity. FabCBD production, co-packing and shipping were moved to the facility to save costs through operational efficiency. NULEAF comes with a cGMP certified manufacturing facility in Denver CO, USA, state of the art in CBD and other cannabinoids
🏧 KIOSK (FASTENDR) [launched 5/1/22]
https://hightideinc.com/high-tide-to-acquire-fastendr-retail-kiosk-and-smart-locker-technology-through-acquisition-of-bud-room-inc/. {Launched 5/1/22. Currently 175 Fastendr kiosks are operational in 120 Canna Cabana stores as of EOY '22}
The Discount Club model is causing long lines out the door. Taking a page from major retailers in other industries, this allows customers to order online or at a kiosk and collect from a "smart" locker. For those customers who know what they want and don't need budtender guidance, this is a handy convenience. Very few dispensaries in the world have this experience. Also mentioned in the PR is a desire to license this technology to other dispensaries and industries which could turn into another revenue stream. Delivery will be made available to all locations permitted by law but this offers a fast, convenient and quick way to ordecollect. It also cuts the dollars spent on budtenders by keeping the lines moving.
+ 🌿 SEEDS [Launched 12/13/22]

COMMANDING ECOMM RETAILER MULTIPLES
High Margin Private Label THC and FabCBD.com / BlessedCBD / NuLeaf, one of the main reasons High Tide is expected to be profitable later in 2023. When high tide...
A) Sells most accessories and CBD worldwide.
B) Owns multiple businesses in the US.
C) Sells data, kiosks and cannabis seeds
D) Selling their private label (think Kirkland) edible THC, vape and flower brands. E) Supplies supplies to dispensaries in multiple states.
F) PARTNER WITH STATE OPERATORS TO GIVE THEM ACCESS TO SELL THC TO THEIR HIGH VALUE CANNABIS CONSUMERS OVER 3 MILLION LIVES ...still only considered a Canadian cannabis retailer?

2023.04.01 10:10 Philip19967 ultimate High Tide DD

SOURCE STORY Snapshot: CEO and Raj Grover started the company that became High Tide with $50,000 and a vision. With never more than $30 million in the bank, Raj strategically transformed one store into today's 151-store, multi-vertical, growth rate of over $400 million in '23.
When they were only 8mln 4 years ago!
Wisely borrowing pages directly from dominant retail companies' playbooks of: COST COST: Club Membership = Low Prices = Loyalty = Market Share
STARBUCKS SBUX: dollar is selling the coffee, not growing the beans
High Tide's strategy is unique and farsighted, given the number of companies currently competing with themselves and the market saturation which increasingly reduces margins, but this does not affect High Tide.

2023: 200
USA -- Accessories e-commerce: At over $30 million, it's always possible that High Tide will pick up one more accessories e-commerce business to add to the other four.
GERMANY -- THC, CBD and accessories: already planning to establish a presence in Germany pending US decision/reschedule. Leading Canadian Cannabis Retailer To Open German 'High Street' Shops For Adult Use [12/10/22] -- https://businesscann.com/leading-canadian-cannabis-retailer-to-establish-german-adult-use - high-street-shops/
USA -- THC: Globally, High Tide has 3,000,000 High Lifetime Value (LTV) customers in its database (2.4 million in the USA) who have purchased accessories (pipes, bongs, vaporizers, dab rigs, etc.) -- segmented by country and US state.
Raj said, "We've had conversations with multiple US groups about a potential acquisition." Considering all factors (inflation, rising interest rates, falling stock market prices, cannabis sector, access to capital, etc.) it is likely that High Tide will have a 2nd mover advantage for US M&As at attractively low multiples, reaffirmed that they intend to become a top 5 US MSO.

2023.04.01 09:57 dunkedinjonuts Outside Consulting

It's not a secret that Watchtower consults with "worldly" firms and companies for an array of things. i.e. Brooklyn selloff, construction and design, printing elimination/going online, CSA and lawyers in general (though we all know they have an increasingly large legal department of their own). I'm curious if there was any consulting done involving the removal of ToMo III. If they were consulting with an outside firm, I would be thinking real hard about clearing any current reservations booked at my infamous vacation property if I were Lett. It's pretty hard to claim you are a loving borganization with Rubber Face and Tight Pants spouting off about babies being enemies of god and people nonchalantly being split open like burnt hotdogs on the street, any time you put a mic or camera in front of them. It's the blind leading the blind at WT, but I'm curious if someone with sight stepped in to help them cross the street.
