A friend of mine once said: You know what the problem is with being an economist? Everyone has an opinion about the economy. Nobody goes up to a geologist and says, 'Igneous rocks are fucking bullshit.' This subreddit is the repository for all of the woeful, antiquated, or plain old misguided notions Redditors post about how the economy works.

2023.04.01 22:03 hr_idw_in Acer aspire 7 laptop turns off randomly
Hello guys. I'm currently experiencing a problem with my laptop where it randomly turns off even when it's plugged in and fully charged. While it has happened a few times in the past, it's becoming more frequent now, and it just happened twice in a row - the laptop turned off and then turned back on after a minute, right where I left off, and then turned off again, and now is on again.
I've tried to turn it on by pressing the power button for a few seconds, but that didn't seem to work, it just turned on randomly ( I think). One thing is that it glowed orange on the laptops side (it has a bulb symbol- besides the charging light) when it turned off and turned blue when it turned on. I came across some online forums that suggested checking the event viewer for errors. Upon checking the Windows logs, I found four red marked errors that occurred in the last 2 minutes.
I'm not entirely sure what to copy from the error, but I'll share one of them below. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice on how to fix this issue.

2023.04.01 22:03 thetealcavalier Sun exposure/Vitamin D sleep interruption
I can’t seem to spend more than 20min outside this time of year, even with sunblock on, without waking up at 5am unable to fall back asleep.
I’m also Vitamin D deficient, and while during the winter I could tolerate 2000IUs, now I can’t seem to take even 400IUs without it also causing me to wake up early. I have hypogonadism and need to take it in order to raise my testosterone, so it’s a problem.
I tried taking low doses of Melatonin to compensate but that made me groggy for the next day or so.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this, or what could help remedy it? Soon the weather will be nice and it will be very difficult for me to stay inside all day.

2023.04.01 22:03 AscensionM23 My (27F) husband (28M) only talks about money. I avoid texting him.
My (27F) husband (28M) spends then further tightens the budget on ME.
I’m so sick and tired of talking about money. I feel like it’s all he can talk about now.
What’s in the bank, when he gets paid, when he get his next raise(he’s an apprentice and they get them every 3-6months), when does he get more overtime at work, when do I get disability payment, I should take the full student loan amount offered so we can pad the savings, etc.
if we save X amount maybe THEN he’ll feel secure enough for us to do something as a family (vacation).
I completely understand wanting to be financially secure. We moved into my mom and dads to help them while their health is declined until they’re better and in the meantime we are saving and buying things we’ve been putting off due to a previously tight budget. We are not broke, we had nearly 8K saved but it is now a small (SMALL) savings and that’s because we spent $7000 on a car for me to drive our 4 kids around as the one I was driving meant our oldest (7) was sitting in the front seat.
We finally had enough and got a great discount on a used 3 row vehicle and the kids love it and I feel so much safer taking them places.
He wants to buy a motorcycle because his car is running on its last leg, I don’t mind but he doesn’t know how to ride one. I told him maybe let’s wait till you know how… it will be here at 4 PM. But again now he’s talking about how we can’t spend any money on anything and need to crack down on our budget.
But buying the car aside, I feel like money is ALL we talk about. I want to talk to my husband. I wanna spend time with him, I want his help with our kids but he’s always a million miles away. I am thankful for the hard work he does, but I don’t even want to text him during the day anymore because that’s all he asks about.

2023.04.01 22:01 FrugalFairyGodmother Ontario Grocery Deals - Week of March 30 to April 5
Another week, another late post. Sorry, Frugal Fairy Toddler had her first dance recital this week so I’m late getting this out. We’re super proud of our girl, she has CP and was able to participate without assistive devices for her 30 minute classes. This is amazing because she was only able to take steps on her own less than a year ago and we were told the worst case outcomes and not to expect her to ever walk on her own.
This week the flyers are a bit meh. There’s a focus on Easter meal items, lots of deals on ham and turkey as well as stuffing and gravy. Good prices on carrots, onions, broccoli and potatoes too. Stock up prices on sugar if you’re into canning jams and fruits in the summer.
New coupons are out for Kellogg’s Websaver. Of note is one for 1$ off Eggos. They’re 3.99$ at Superstore and you get 2500 PC Optimum points (2.50$ value) for each.
Circle K is giving away free bottles of Canada Dry, Monster Energy drink, and Guru Energy drink. Checkout the website for their coupons.
You can find deals, links to referrals with sign up incentives, coupons, tips, and recipes on my Instagram (
www.instagram.com/frugalfairygodmother). I try to post new content every day. If you’re interested, Flashfood has upped their sign-up referral bonus to 5$ when you use my code and spend 10$ on the app.

Extra savings on food can be found by using the Flashfood app, which sells near expiry groceries for large discounts. This week, I got a produce box for 5$ which contained 2lbs of Ontario strawberries in great condition, a bag of grapes and a dozen + apples.
Price match tips:
- Most stores won't price match Rexall or Shoppers Drugmart or Canadian Tire.
- Loblaws owned stores limit price matching to 4 items per UPC. Different flavours will have different UPCs. Some stores won’t honor this, but it’s always worth a try.
- Showing a virtual flyer like the Flipp app links included in this post is sufficient for price matching. You don't need to find a physical flyer.
- Download the Flipp app and long press the price matches to "clip" them. You can find these clippings in the Lists section for easy reference at checkout.
- Not all stores will price match every store. Each store will determine their own local competition. They should have this info posted somewhere or ask at the cash and they can tell you.
Frugal Tip of the Week:
Keep an eye out on the Flashfood app next week because of the Friday holiday. You’ll start seeing a lot of items close to expiry being cleared out.

2023.04.01 22:01 crystalqueer510 Transitioning from adderall to Vyvanse
Because of the adderall shortage, I was able to switch to Vyvanse. It’s working wonders for my concentration and cognitive ability, but the quietness in my brain and being able to actually have clear thoughts is actually making me depressed to the point of crying. When I was on adderall, it improved my mood and helped immensely with my RSD but it also made me really anxious which made me procrastinate more. Essentially, I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place. Anyone else experience this when they transitioned over? If so how long can I expect for this to last for?

2023.04.01 22:01 Vanillemilch 10 fragrances for a newbie - does this "collection" make sense?
So I recently got into fragrances and am absolutely hooked now. I'd like to have a simple and straight forward collection with decent enough variety and settled for the following 10 scents. Would you guys say these make sense or are they perhaps too overlapping? I smelled all of these in stores and really enjoy them.
- Bleu De Chanel EDP - the perfect allrounder and perhaps my favorite of the bunch. It just works so well.
- Montblanc Explorer - definitely my favorite of the Aventus-like scents and similarly to BDC works for pretty much every occasion I'd imagine.
- Davidoff Cool Water Intense - I don't know what it is about that one but I just absolutely adore it. This one rounds off the "allrounders".
- Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit De L'Homme / Bleu Electrique - for the more intimate occasions. I currently own both Bleu Electrique and the EDT but one's gotta go. I think I slightlyyyy prefer the EDT.
- Versace Pour Homme - fresh and aquatic for hot days.
- Azzaro Wanted by Night - works for colder days as well as going out and dates I think.
- Versace Eros EDT - Dubbed the "clubbing scent". I don't really do much of that, I just love it's sweet scent.
- Versace Eros Flame - I got this one as a gift and really love it. A little warmer and spicier version of the original to perhaps wear throughout the colder months.
- Prada L'homme - I'd use this for more formal occasion or whenever I'm rocking a white linen shirt.
- ??? - I'd love to fill this last spot out with a signature niche scent perhaps, but so far I have yet to find one that really makes me go "wow!". Preferably one for the colder months, so maybe Parfumes De Marly Layton which I definitely enjoyed but wasn't blown away by.

2023.04.01 22:01 LocationOk1668 How to Buy Cheap Domain Names: A Comprehensive Guide
Are you looking to purchase a domain name for your website or online business, but don't want to break the bank? With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. Fortunately, we've put together a comprehensive guide to help you buy a cheap domain name.
- Choose a Reliable Registrar
The first step in buying a cheap domain name is to choose a reliable registrar. There are many registrars to choose from, but not all of them offer the same level of service and security. Look for a registrar with a good reputation, positive reviews, and affordable pricing.
- Look for Promotions and Discounts
Many domain registrars offer promotions and discounts, especially for first-time customers. Keep an eye out for these deals to save even more on your domain name purchase. Some registrars also offer discounts if you purchase multiple domains or if you sign up for a long-term contract.
- Consider Alternative Domain Extensions
If the .com domain you want is already taken or too expensive, consider alternative domain extensions. There are many other extensions available, including .net, .org, .co, .io, and many more. While some of these extensions may not be as well-known as .com, they can still be effective for your website.
- Don't Skimp on Security
When buying a domain name, it's important to prioritize security. Look for a registrar that offers features like two-factor authentication and SSL certificates to protect your website from cyber threats. Investing in security measures now can save you from costly data breaches later on.
- Check for Renewal Fees
Finally, make sure you check for any renewal fees associated with your domain name. Some registrars offer cheap initial prices but charge high renewal fees. Make sure you understand the long-term costs of your domain name purchase before committing.
At Raksmart, we offer affordable domain name registration and management services. Our user-friendly website and experienced team make it easy to purchase and maintain your domain name. Visit us at
https://www.raksmart.com to learn more about our services and how we can help you buy a cheap domain name for your website.

2023.04.01 22:00 LordQuantumKeks How long will it take me to sing rock
So I am stupid, founded a band and we are having our first gig in June. We haven’t played together before and the only thing we know is, that we want to play hard rock/alternative. My band is quite good, they’ll get their parts ready in time but…
I am the singer. I would say I can sing a lot of very popular songs, that don’t take a lot of practice quite good, able to sing some Sinatra here and there, but I fail once I get in higher registers and I definitely can’t sing for longer periods of time or do stuff like vocal frying or distortion, without getting unnecessarily loud.
I know what singing with the solar plexus is, don’t do it most of the time, mostly singing with my throat and getting vocal fatigue quite often.
I want to learn how to sing higher notes more comfortably, falsetto and vocal fry/distortion.
How long will this take? Will I be able to sing properly on that gig?
Thanks in advance

2023.04.01 21:59 TheDollarstoreDoctor Finally found relaxation/relief with a THC tincture bath.
Yesterday I was ready to scream and claw my skin off, I was in so much pain. 2 days off steroids (prednisone) and my skin went from calmed down to painfully inflamed almost immediately. My primary expected it to hold me over until my appt with the immunologist in 2 weeks, but nope. My face is already covered in eczema rashes. My neck, shoulders, and arms are completely flared up again. The itchiness was bad enough, but my eczema also causes a very intense stabbing burning pain as if my skin is literally on fire while also being stabbed with 1,000 knives that are also on fire.
Colloidal oatmeal products dont help, OTC topical steroids dont help, the only thing I've found luck with is CBD creams & THC balms. But I wanted to soak in a bath because my entire body was in 10/10 pain. I needed something more soothing than a plain bath, so out of desperation I thought up a plan to add THC tincture to the bathwater. I went to the dispensary by my house, bought some more topical balm and tincture (with a 30% discount :)! Thankfully I had my work ID on me so I was eligible for healthcare discount), applied the balm while running the bath.
I dont have a lot of experience with tinctures since I dont consume THC (it makes me very lethargic), so I had no clue if my idea was good or not, I was too desperate to care. But it was a lot thicker than I expected, I got the cheapest option which was some maple agave stuff it's like a very thick goopy syrup. I put a few drops in the bath and mixed it in. First thing I noticed was that it made the bath smell very sweet. I dont know if it's mostly placebo effect, but my skin felt so soothed. I slid down to submerge my neck, which has gotten the worst, and it felt like a water massage. Felt a lot more soothing than I usually feel with the balm alone. When I got out I applied vanicream & more of the balm, and my skin felt better enough for me to get some restful sleep! I put more on when I got up this morning (about 6 hours ago) and I've so far been feeling so much better.
Has anyone else found luck with THC/CBD products?

2023.04.01 21:59 Boxykat League of Legends degenerate gets surprising results!
Demographics: Gender: Male
Race/ethnicity: Asian
Type of school: Competitive public magnet school
hooks (URM, first generation, legacy, athlete, etc.): none
Intended Major(s): Neuroscience/biomedical science on premed track
SAT: 1580 one sitting (800 math 780 reading)
UW GPA - 3.94
Weighted GPA - 4.52
Class rank - 13/452
Coursework: 15 AP classes including senior year
Extracurriculars: - (Personally I am most proud of this) Peaked rank 300 Challenger in League of Legends, got many schools in my county into Varsity League of Legends, coach for my school's team, won states, personally attended some events (only won like 60 dollars tho)
- I teach music theory and traditional Chinese music at a weekend school to kids. I get paid 25 dollars an hour, and I teach 2 hours a week.
- I made my own chamber orchestra group in 10th grade with 17 members of violins, cellos, violas, clarinets, and flutes. It was basically a group for people who felt underwhelmed since our county's music program wasn't very strong and was pretty overcrowded, so I wanted to make a group where there was some better management. I conduct for the group and occasionally play the piano for the group when the song we currently played needed one. We perform for charities, local events, and retirement homes. I have been personally been playing the piano for 11 years.
- I started a small rock band with 3 other friends. We mostly just play for fun on Friday evenings in my garage. I play the piano for the band. There is also a drummer, electric guitarist, and bassist.
- I have been playing the clarinet for 6 years. I am a part of my school's honor band as well as part of my city's orchestra. We put on 6 shows a year at a large theatre.
- I am the worship leader for my church, of which I play the piano for. I play on Fridays and Sundays for the youth and adult groups.
- I have conducted research into psychology 3 times during high school, and have been accepted into state and regional fairs.
- I am a certified EMT. Took a 150 hour in person course, and I have 10 hours in ambulance ride alongs. I plan to work as an EMT the summer going into college.
- I worked at a biotechnology center for a local university. More recently I started working on assigned projects myself with minimal/no supervision. I have about 500 hours in the lab.
- Varsity Tennis player, #2 singles, state champs.
Honors: - Nationally level for the National Guild of Piano
- All state for saxophone, clarinet, and piano
- Completed state program for medical shadowing & volunteering
- Principal's scholar award
- AP Scholar with Distinction
Commonapp - I think I wrote my essay really well, I talked about how I played childhood pretend with my best friend, and how we would take our favorite videogames or cartoons and kind of change it up and integrate it into our pretend. I connected that to overcoming my slump in jazz band where I initially struggled with how to improvise, but when looking back, I got an idea that you could take influence from other works and play around with it to create your own improvisation. 8.5/10
Interviews: Duke: Went pretty well, interviewer said that the traits I demonstrate are those of very successful people (8/10)
UPenn: Went super well, interviewer really connected on similar passions and interests, she said she was super excited to write my recommendation (10/10)
University of Richmond, Richmond Scholar: The panel felt kind of cold, as everyone just asked a few questions and were taking notes, but I think I really showed my passion and understanding for my extracurriculars (7/10)
Acceptances: VCU Honors College (With Dean's Scholarship)
Virginia Tech
UVA with Echol's Scholar
University of Richmond (With Richmond Scholar!)
Case Western Reserve University
UNC Chapel Hill Honors College
Emory University
Duke (Deferred - Accepted!)
Waitlists: Vanderbilt University
Rejections: Washington University in St. Louis
Johns Hopkins University
Northwestern University
Brown University
University of Pennsylvania
Yale University
Final Thoughts: I never really thought about college seriously until late Junior year, and in a way I think that helped me out a bit. I did activities that I was truly passionate about, and I think that was conveyed in my essays and descriptions of my extracurriculars. I am very grateful as a League of Legends degenerate to have the opportunity to choose between a full ride to University of Richmond or Duke. I know a lot of people say this, but for real, do the things you like, and you will end up in a nice place. I can't stress this enough, craft a narrative that emphasizes the uniqueness of your lived experiences. Also, if you get deferred, write a nice LOCI to the school. I wrote a 2 page LOCI to Duke, and I honestly think that it was the difference maker for getting in.

2023.04.01 21:58 UhIDunnoLeaveMeAlone What direction do y’all think TSSF will go for their next album?
I’m curious if they’ll keep the shoegaze influence or not. Or if they’ll go softer, like more of an alt-rock oasis style. Or if they’ll stick with pop punk.
From the no pressure stuff, Parker has shown he’s still got the chops to write good, classic pop punk. But I’m not sure if he wants to go that way with TSSF. He just seems so lifeless when performing with TSSF. So I think he’ll go with something very different, so that he reignites his passion for the band
I’m also curious about the lyrical themes. Up until proper dose, the entire discography was about that girl. But he’s shown he’s got over it in proper dose. And proper dose was about getting over his addictions. So I’m really curious about the lyrical themes for this next album

2023.04.01 21:57 ScorpiaRising [US-CA] [H] Modded Starlight-12 Tenz Small & New Tiger Ice (D2F-01F switches), Modded Lamzu Atlantis Mini Charcoal (D2F-01F switches), Weight Reduced 49g CM MM712 w/ Grips [W] PayPal, Local Cash
Timestamp Hello MouseMarket!
I am selling my modded Starlight-12 Tenz Small which has D2F-01F aka Japanese Omron switches which are light and much more spammable than the stock Kailh 8.0's in the original SL-12 Tenz mice. I have also modded the mouse to have no side-flex or creaking, has no double clicking, no scroll wheel issues, and it has been updated with the latest 1.3.5 firmware. Unfortunately, the shape was not for me, and the mouse has about 1-2 months of use before being put back in the box.
Comes with all accessories including the box, dongle, wire, the 3 different Infinity Skins, original skates, and an unopened pack of Tiger Ice feet included. Looking for $180 shipped, $175 local in OC.
The modded Lamzu Atlantis mini Charcoal has D2F-01F aka Japanese Omron switches which are lighter and slightly more spammable than the stock transparent Huano Blue Shell Pink Dots in the original Atlantis mini mice. The D2F-01F clicks are by far the best clicks I've ever used in a mouse due to the great click design from Lamzu, however the shape was not for me either.
Comes with all accessories including the box, dongle, wire, unused grips, extra pair of larger skates, extra pair of dot skates, and the original skates included. Looking for $110 shipped, $105 local in OC.
MM712 was bought from another user who weight modded the mouse down to 49 grams. The mouse itself had about 2-3 days of use and was put away after finding out yet again, it was not for me. Stock battery was swapped to a 150mah battery for weight reduction, however the 500mah stock battery can be included as well.
Comes with the mouse, USB, and grips. Looking for $45 shipped, $40 local in OC.
I'm willing to bundle the MM712 with any item(s) for a discounted price at $35. Willing to do local trades within or near the OC area in CA.

2023.04.01 21:55 anxietybear456 Tips to help ease stomach virus?
I have the worst stomach virus I have ever had in my entire life. While normally lasts just a day or 2, I have been sick since Monday. It is now Saturday. I have no appetite and feel very weak because of it. Threw up Monday night. Have had the runs since then. Every day. Every time I eat ANY food. I feel like there are rocks in my stomach. It also sounds like my insides are moving around. I feel foggy and out of it and just awful all around. I can’t do much except lay in bed. Does anyone have any advice? I’ve been drinking ginger ale and water even though I’m not thirsty. I’ve been eating anything I can stomach (usually just have watermelon for breakfast and grilled cheese for lunch) just to get some calories in even though it goes straight through me. Please help. I can’t take much more of this.

2023.04.01 21:53 antaramanbg A New UF Book and Sale
Hi UF Friends!
A few days ago I published my latest UF book Possessed (Demon Marked Book 1)! It's still on sale for 99c for a few more days before the price goes to $4.99 or free with KU:
https://mybook.to/CAbiahJ (nonaffiliated link)
Fans of Annette Marie, Linsey Hall, C.N. Crawford and K.F. Breene will likely enjoy this series. Here's the blurb:
Welcome to the post-apocalyptic USA, where angels are at the top of the food chain and demons are at the bottom. My name is Ashadha Matthews and I am a paranormal detective. Or so everyone thinks. The truth is I hide a dangerous secret: I am a half-demon. I’ve spent most of my life trying to keep this hidden from the Angelica Order, but when a client’s husband is murdered by demons, it gets harder to hide.
If the gorgeous angel detective stops flirting with me long enough to discover that I have demoniacal magic inside me, he will kill me. But I know better than to fall for his charms. When the investigation takes a strange turn, I find myself confronted by the Brotherhood of the Serpent, and they don’t take “no” for an answer.
Maybe I should reconsider my priorities and team up with the sexy angel. Like I couldn’t be more screwed up, right?
Possessed is the first in the Demon Marked trilogy. It's got enemies to lovers, fated mates, and a feisty independent heroine, who can’t help but fall in love with the hero. Link: https://mybook.to/CAbiahJ submitted by
