2023.03.24 07:24 Difficult_Stop_3424 [TOMT][MOVIE][SHOW]I don’t remember the name of this movie/show
Hello guys, I literally logged in my Reddit account since I feel like it is the only place where I can find answers to a vivid memory I had of some type of show/movie I watched, I say show/movie because I am not sure if it was one or the other, from the memories I can remember, it was about a team of mechanics who received cars from people who want it tuned out, remodeled and re colored, there were many cars, but 1 car stands out which is what’s keeping this very blurry memory of mine still alive, again I don’t know if it’s a show or a mini 40 or even 15 minute movie, not sure, but the car in question that’s keeping this memory in my mind was about an episode where a man brought in a bright red Mustang cobra and asked for a full remodel, I remember how the team took the car and did a speed and drive test first, I looked in awe as they brought it back to the garage and began to disassemble most of the exterior of the car, I remember one of the scenes of the disassembly one of the mechanics grabbed one of the removed parts, a bumper maybe, or at least a small broken part of a bumper, and threw it at the ground, I don’t know why that’s another part of my memory, but fast forward to the finishing parts of the remodeling, it showed a before and after of the car, it started off as an old stock red mustang cobra as it transitioned into a mostly black with slight (I think) yellow highlights around it, it had a bigger front and back bumper and I think it had a spoiler, they did another speed and driving test as it now performed much better than what it used to and gave it back to a very happy owner, I remember clearly that they worked on other cars but don’t remember which ones exactly, the mustang part is the only one I am able to remember a bit, since a mustang cobra came out at least on the year 1999 or 2000, I am d sure that this movie/show at least came out between the years 2000 and 2009 for sure, the reason why I wanna know this is because I want to watch whatever this footage was as it’s been in my mind and I want to rewatch something that could be one of my reasons why I am a car person.

2023.03.24 07:13 totoorozco Front plates alternatives
I was thinking on getting some front bumper tow hook license plate mount. I don’t want to make holes on such a nice front. Any other ideas or thoughts. Is the hook mount good? Is there like a spy license plate that hides? Or hooks under the car ? Is there any issues with the front sensors of the car?

Recently I had a minor hit and run where the front passenger side bumper and door took a hit and was bent, after being In garage and getting fixed, I am getting 17mpg. I used to get 23 in nyc but now its insanely low to a point where a v6 gets better. On high way i am lucky to get 25mpg. Any idea why?

2023.03.24 06:27 gray_clouds CMV: Jeff Jackson would be a good POTUS '24 nominee for Democrats
I don't really know Jackson's voting history. He has some business and military experience, and being from North Carolina, I assume is pretty moderate. I'm posting here as a way to vet this guy before I order bumper stickers. A few arguments that probably won't change my mind:
(Edit) Nobody knows him - The DNC was smart when it put Obama up front, even though he was an unknown. He had charisma. If you don't know, Jackson is racking up TikTok views quickly - for good reason.
Too young - We're living at a unique time in history where Old people are as ignorant as young people, just in different ways. 80 year old Presidents and 40 year old Presidents are not ideal, but I'd take the latter over the former.
Progressives wont like him - True, but I think deep down they know that Kamala is not going to beat Trump / De Santis. And I hope they're smart enough to see the writing on the wall with Russia/China/Iran/Suadi Arabia, the new medieval world order.
He isn't running - I know, but I prefer people who don't want to be President.
Other than that, what are the reservations about Jackson?

2023.03.24 04:38 ClipIn 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 & 3500 Heavy Duty: Everything I know
This post is specific to the
2024 GMC Sierra model year's 2500HD and 3500HD aka Heavy Duty versions. I'll include info
on all trims. If you're looking for
1500 series models, some discounts below might be interestingvbut fair warning: most everything else is about the HD series trucks.
I've been watching all the news, spy shots, auto shows, press releases and can't wait to see this truck in person. Until then, I've been researching like crazy. Because I'm a nerd. Figured some other people might be like me, looking for all the
quality updates, videos, pics, and (eventually
I can't wait) reviews - so why not put them all in one place. Here goes...
Official stuff
- Go here >> https://www.gmc.com
- Start a Chat session
- Provide your order number >> rep will tell you the status
Pricing
- GMC Supplier Discount website
- Check if you're eligible (here) aka work for a company that gets this. There's a ton. It's worth trying. Look up your company here, grab the code, then make a free account and use that code. It's crazy simple.
- The Supplier version Build/Price tools aren't online for 2024 models, but you can do it anyway just use the one depending on your model:
- GMC Friends and Family Discount website
- The Friends & Family version Build/Price tools aren't online for 2024 models, but you can do it anyway just use the one depending on your model:
- Dealers do not have to accept Friends&Family or Supplier pricing. They are reimbursed partially by GM, so in effect are taking some hit by accepting it. Hence, why so many turned away buyers during pandemic.
- In Feb 2023, GM idled its Fort Wayne, Indiana production for two weeks (source) because inventories of 1500 series reached 100 days. That's above their stated goal of 50-60 days of inventory. At year-end 2022 inventories were at 50 days. TL;DR supplies of light duty trucks have outstripped demand, and I'd hope that means good news for pricing now and into 2Q.
Engine | Denali Ultimate | Denali | AT4 | SLT | SLE | Pro |
MSRP 6.6L V8 Gas w/ 4WD (starting at) | n/a | $75,095 | $70,995 | $65,195 | $57,795 | $52,795 |
MSRP 6.6L V8 Turbo-Diesel w/ 4WD (starting at) | $93,795 | $84,585 | $80,485 | $74,685 | $68,280 | $63,780 |
Discounts
- Dealerships that have told me they're honoring Supplier Pricing
- Laura GMC (website) in Collinsville, IL
- Beck & Masten (website) in Houston, TX
- Dealerships offering discounted pricing to anyone. Does not stack with Supplier or Friends and Family though.
- Laura GMC (website): $2,500 off MSRP. Will ship car to you (at your expense). Free shuttle pickup from airport, if you fly in.
- Beck & Masten (website): $2,000 off MSRP + free delivery within 500 miles
- Costco discount / Costco Auto Program Savings Event. I don't know what it is (will be?) for 2024, but was $1,000 off for 2022 and 2023 models (source, also mentioned on a few forums and in askcarsales).
- Uber - discount for Uber drivers. In past was $2,750 off BoltEV, no idea if anything for Sierra models and if so, if even for this model year.

Latest info I've heard
- Downpour Metallic paint color is delayed, marked "late availability". Any orders with this color are delayed for likely months, but dealers don't have exact timing.
- Best discount is $2,500 off MSRP (at Laura GMC)
- Costco discount does stack with other discounts
- $1,500 OnStar Premium is included in vehicle price, but for the first time can be Deleted for $1,500 savings.
- GMC MultiPro tailgate Step Lights are a $150 option, even on Denali Ultimate. Wut!?
- For Super Cruise to work, need OnStar. But it's an add on feature, for ANY plan. Pricing is here, skip the BS graphic and click on Compare All Plans which gives you this PDF. Tl;DR in build options choose OnStar Premium Delete ($1,500 savings), then after get truck choose plan you want. Cheapest one, "Remote Access" for $14.99/month, gives you the app and "remote key fob" then just inlcude Super Cruise add-on for $25/month. Also: this still fees like a ripoff.
- CarbonPro bed isn't available on Heavy Duty series trucks, irregardless of trim.
- OEM Upfitter switches will be available (here >> GMUpfitter.com) and go in the "change pocket" area (pic), directly in front of new Trailer Brake controls placement.
- First dealership to have a 2500HD arrive was on Mar 22nd: Tom Kelley GMC in Fort Wayne, IN. They put up a youtube video here.
- Bigger GMC dealerships have been telling custs expect first trucks arrive on lots May 2023.
If I missed anything, please share! Just really like this truck, ordered one, can't wait for arrival. I am not in the car business, affiliated with any sites. Linked only to legit, high-quality sources that were best I could find, avoided the dumb Chinese bot knockoff YouTube channels and blogspam that just steal content. If you find some new juicy tidbits, please reply so we can all benefit.

2023.03.24 04:11 JD_techie_88 Grand River, Ohio GT owners. Need your help.
| There is a company called just "just stick it decals" is located in Grand River Ohio. They make decals for many different Kias and are willing to take custom orders. I put in a request to make decals for the front silver trim on the bumper (see pic). They told me that they would need access to a GT and at the moment they don't have one. They said if i can find someone that could bring the car to them, then they can look into making them. Check out their website https://juststikitdecals.com/ I bought some decals from them and they are great. Better prices than on Etsy. Anyway, if you are in the area and are willing. Let me know and I can connect you to them to start the process. submitted by JD_techie_88 to ForteGT [link] [comments] |
2023.03.24 03:45 EastbyMidwest Car rolled into my Element — What’s this part?
I use my Ele as a daily driver and was headed home from work, sitting in traffic, when the car in front of me just rolled right back into me. No idea what was going on, if they just let go of the clutch or if something else was happening. It’s city traffic and I couldn’t get out or stop, and he just pulled away and disappeared (I have a blurry pic of his plate and that’s about it). Big city life.
It was more than just a parking tap, I leave a good distance between myself and the car in front (unfortunately in this case) and it looks like the metal beam just in front of my radiator took the brunt of it and is warped in a few places. Thankfully, it didn’t hit the radiator but it’s only a little less than an inch away—too close for comfort. So I was hoping to see if anyone knows what that part is? I’ve been digging over schematics all night and can’t seem to find it; it’s the bar just below the radiator opening in the bumper cover but not on the bumper schematic.
Also, anything else I should be looking for? I’m about to do a full suspension overhaul so it’s pretty crap timing as I’m getting ready to put so much money back into the car. Thoughts?

2023.03.24 02:47 irishkateart Help sourcing a shop for mods
I recently bought my first taco, a 2022 and I’m still on cloud 9. I have a handful of mods I want to implement but I cannot find anyone near me to do them. I’m in AZ, and looking to do a grille, dash cams, front bumper and possibly some bed storage. More will be done later. I’ve called custom shops who don’t seem too knowledgeable about Tacomas. Toyota dealerships that won’t do any mods, I called their recommended third party they use for body work, that too won’t do these. What kind of shops should I be looking for? Do I have to use multiple? Is that a bad idea? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

2023.03.24 02:04 LiveLaughLoveFunSex Rental car company blaming me for damage i didn’t do.
Hi everyone,
to start off with, I know I messed up. Ididn’t get the rental agencies insurance as I’ve rented cars before and have never gotten the insurance and was never blamed for anything, so I assumed i wouldn’t be this guy right now.
I rented a car in Portland Oregon for a few days, drove it pretty gently, didn’t take it offroad, and definitely didn’t crash into anything. I know for a fact this wasn’t my fault.
side note: car had been taken offroad at some point before i rented it. it had a bunch of little rock chips on the front and back bumpers and mud sprayed inside the engine bay (maybe it was a coolant line that broke and they never rinsed the engine bay, regardless the car had been through some stuff before me)
Got a call after having dropped it off at the airport rental place this Tuesday maybe an hour after with them asking me if i knew anything about some rocker panel damage on the car. I asked what a rocker panel was, then stated I did not do anything to damage the car in that area or any other and noted that when i received it i pointed out all the little rock chips and they said they were already aware of that. the person on the phone said don’t worry about it, he just wanted to check if i knew anything about it.
Got an email at 11pm(?!) last night (Wednesday) saying this:
Thank you for your recent rental. Our Damage Recovery Unit has received notification of damage or loss to the vehicle you rented. If you have not already done so, please contact your insurance company and/or credit card company to report this claim. Failure to report in a timely manner may void any coverage you may have. Once reported, please contact us to provide your claim information.
I replied instantly asking what they mean by damage or loss and to send me info regarding the issue they’re having and they have yet to reply.
Am I screwed?

2023.03.24 01:55 gud_at_bizness I’m a sucker for punishment.
About to take delivery of a ‘23 GR86 in Raven Black. I’m going to have the full front end (bumper, hood, mirrors, fenders) covered in PPF by a reputable shop. I plan to ceramic coat this thing head to toe after the PPF with Gtechniq products. I want suggestions to do everything I can in preventative protection. What products do you suggest from Gtechiq?
Also, should I do a decon and polish before taking it to get PPF to save some bucks? Will my PPF guy need to do a decon anyways? I’m looking for balancing the line of high quality and cost.

2023.03.24 01:23 happilycfintx Am I out of place in being frustrated? TX
Wednesday of last week I was in an accident where I was on a 5 lane highway in lane 3 traveling the posted speed limit. The claimant was ahead of me to my right in lane 4 going under the speed limit (only known because I was approaching them rather than keeping pace). I had been in my lane for a couple of miles. As I approached the other vehicle changed lanes and my right front corner hit the left side of their rear bumper.
My issue is with the investigation into liability. I feel like my insurance company didn't do a good job. The diagram shows I straight up rear ended the other person which is not accurate from actual damages. I asked my insurer if they reviewed my damage and the other vehicles damage and I was advised that no they had no photos of either vehicle. I asked if liability was based on something the claimant said and they advised they've not spoken to the claimant. I asked how liability was determined and they said it was solely on the police report because they speak to both drivers right after the loss. The thing is that the police report clearly stated that they did not speak to the other driver after the loss due to a language barrier, so its just my narrative saying he got into my lane. I just feel like at minimum I was owed a comprehensive investigation that included looking at photos of my vehicle and the claimant vehicle to show the damage is offset. I really want to escalate because the adjuster is really firm.

2023.03.24 00:41 Wise_Abroad_2749 ICBC-approved shop installed off-the-market parts on my Car
I was called in to come to the ICBC-approved body shop today where my car is located. Upon arrival and inspection of the vehicle, I noticed that my car is still damaged and visibly looked wrong.
- There were new white scratch marks on the right side of the car.
- The bumper is crooked and not aligned properly. There are major gaps between the bumper and the hood.
- The painting was not done properly. It was peeling off and the rust was showing off in multiple places. Some of the paint was still fresh and peeling off.
- The headlamps are still broken and chirping off. The new ones need to be ordered and replaced.
- There is a rubber piece on the hood closest to the front window shield that was peeling off, too.
- There are new scratches on both mirrors that were not there before.
- The car was dirty and dusty, and no detailing was done.
The body shop people pressured me to sign off on a car which I was not comfortable with. I was in shock to see how sloppy they have done the work after 7 weeks of waiting.
I called ICBC and the guy who I initially was in touch with, told me to take the car, do as the shop says, and deal with it later. It's now my problem because I was the one who chose the auto body shop, not ICBC. Although, it's an ICBC-approved body shop and when I asked this ICBC guy for advice, he said it would be a good body shop to send my car to and if anything, ICBC will get involved. Now that that I have a problem, it's my problem only because it was my decision.
When bringing up these issues to the owner of the autobody shop, she started
screaming at me from the top of her lungs and threatening me that if I do not pick up the car, the ICBC will not compensate uber because the car is drivable now. I felt very unsafe being around her.
She wanted me to sign the paperwork which I refused as my safety was compromised and once it's signed, it's my problem and will be hard to prove anything.
She then yelled at me even more and informed me that they have installed
off-the-market bumper parts on my car and they are not Toyota-certified body parts and that is why
they do not align.
She refused to order a new bumper. She said I do not have proper insurance which is why I do not qualify for the right parts. Installing off the marker parts to me sounds like an unlawful act. It is hard to believe that ICBC would approve anything like that.
I am not a driver at fault.
I pay for Road Side + out of my own pocket in addition to the full ICBC insurance coverage (Collision, Comprehensive) that I have.
The repair shop had called the iCBC and informed them that the car is fixed two days prior to my arrival and inspection. ICBC is now saying that they will not pay for Uber (I did not get a courtesy car) because the car is "fixed". I explained to them what happened and that it is not fixed, and waiting for the response. In my email, I insisted
on a CAPA-tested replacement bumper and other car parts that do not compromise my safety. What are my rights here? Should I call the police? Is this a potential lawsuit? Please advise. Never been in a car accident before & new to the country.

2023.03.23 23:31 nonamee9455 Self Recovery on a Budget (Stock JK)
Hey all, long story short I have acquired a Jeep Wrangler Sport and would like to take it off-roading but am on a tight budget. The biggest thing stopping me from hitting the trails in my stock Jeep is the fact that I have no way to self recover if I get stuck. I've been looking into getting a winch for a while now but it looks like it'll cost me almost 2000$ (cad) for the winch and bumper to attach it too. Recently I've discovered Hi Lift Jack winch kits and it sounds like the perfect solution for me, but I do have some concerns...
- Most people recommend getting a winch with a capacity 1.5 times greater than the vehicles curb weight. Jeeps can have a curb weight of up to 5000 Lbs while the Hi Jack is only rated to 4000 Lbs. The Hi Jack site says it's tested up to 7000 Lbs, but is it safe to jack a Jeep out of the mud with it?
- Winching with a Hi Jack takes quite a bit of effort. I'm in pretty good shape and not planning on going anywhere crazy, will I kill myself trying to jack my Jeep out?
- Is it safe to tow a Jeep by the front bumper hooks or the rear bumper steel loop thing? Are they rated recovery points? Is buying a new bumper the only way to get rated recovery points on my Jeep or is there a cheaper alternative?
