In contrast, today’s Nice Price or No Dice Toyota Corona seems to be a car that a lot of people might enjoy. Let’s see if that justifies its price. One of the most common horror movie tropes is the single survivor, or “final girl.” The character often is actually female and is usually the smartest or most virtuous member of their fated group. When it comes to Volkswagen Golf models, we’re getting down to final girl time. The lineup was once rife with coupe, saloon, convertible models, as well as their sporting variations. In the U.S. at least, we’re now down to just the performance-oriented GTI and the even more rabid R. We looked at a 2016 VW Golf R yesterday, which had been made even more ready for battle owing to some well-chosen factory options and aftermarket massages. At $36,000, however, that wasn’t enough to survive our vote, and the R went down in a massive 90 percent No Dice loss. Instead, we get mustard yellow paint that the ad claims to be original, and a black vinyl interior. No, that’s not “leatherette” or “vegan leather,” that’s good ol’ sticky in the summer, creaky in the winter, vinyl. It all looks to be in very good shape save for a wonky glovebox door and the twitch-inducing use of the same piece of plastic for all three horn buttons on the steering wheel meaning that only one can be right-side up. Gold-colored aftermarket alloys spruce things up on the outside, but the ad notes that the original wheels also will come with the sale in case those are more to the new owner’s liking. There are a claimed 39,000 miles on the clock and a sticker on the door jamb that indicates an oil and filter change was undertaken at 26,691 miles. Hopefully, it’s had a couple more since then. That 39K could actually be more since there are only five barrels on the odometer and records from this era are sketchy at best. The engine is a 2563 cc SOHC inline-six good for 109 horsepower. That’s mated to an Aisin three-speed automatic which sends power back to the live rear axle. Mechanically, there’s nothing much to go wrong here. And, this being an old Toyota, it’s unlikely anything ever will. According to the ad, this clean-title Corona Mark II has been a lead car in not one but two movies. You’d think with such a pedigree they would tell us which movies those were. Discounting the fact that this is apparently a Hollywood celebrity, there’s still a lot to like about this quirky classic, and we’re likely not going to find many others in this sort of shape anytime soon outside of Hemmings. At $16,500 this Mark II is kind of priced for Hemmings. We’ll just have to decide if that’s ok for Craigslist as well. 2023.05.30 23:00 shemp33 New SER6 Pro from BeeLink... Setup and Deployment Experience So Far
I got my SER6 Pro. It came in the 32gb/500gb configuration with the Ryzen 7 7735HS CPU and onboard Radeon 600 series GPU.
I need a lot of space, and they only technically support up to 2TB drives (onboard NVMe or 2.5" SATA slot). I saw a few videos where people take out the fan plate which is where the 2.5" SATA mounts, which helps with airflow. So with that, my better option was to get a beefier NVMe SSD.
I went with the HP FX900 Pro 4TB, which is on sale for $250/usd.
Knowing the process on BeeLink, my setup process went like so:
It went perfectly. Unlike my SEI12 build, this time Windows did find the activation code in the motherboard this time. Everything was detected and installed. I know that the bluetooth and NIC drivers on Intel's site are newer, so I grabbed those, and also the latest AMD chipset driver directly from AMD.
Everything is working like a champ.
A couple of notes:
a) On the 4TB SSD, there is a thermal pad that's too thick to let the case close. I peeled that off and replaced it with something similar, but still a thermal pad. With the second HDD not being installed, there's room for airflow now.
b) Still, if the machine goes to sleep, I have to disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cable since I'm using it on a KVM switcher. I don't attribute that to the build, though. Just more of a "if this happens to you, it's happening to me too" sort of note.
c) After the reinstall, at idle, no fans in overdrive or anything, it's running around 55-58C. It's a little warm for my taste, but I'll keep an eye on this under load and see if it's something that needs further attention.
TL/DR: the reinstall to a bigger drive was a ton less complicated than I thought it would be. Had I had data on it to keep, I would have chosen a different strategy.

Family member of multiple Alabama Jubilee committee members here!
I've seen a lot of comments about how inconvenient the ticket system at the Jubilee is. I just want to shed some light on why the event handles cash this way.
Often when multiple vendors are at an event and are able to take cash, the vendors will report fewer sales than are true. The ticket system is in place to eliminate that from the question. Tickets are useless to vendors, so in order to get their cut, vendors must turn in the tickets. This way all cash is handled by the committee.
Pro tip: Walk up and down the food trucks and figure out what you want. Then go buy your tickets for just enough to get what you decided on. Tickets can be bought individually on a 1:1 ratio to the dollar. You don't have to buy in full sheets or even multiples of 5.
This festival is NOT a profitable venture. All money collected goes to taxes and the next year's event (porta johns, event t-shirts, entertainment, pilots for next year, etc.)and helps keep entry to the event free. It is 100% run by volunteers as well. No workers are paid for their time there.
I grew up in North Alabama and loved the Jubilee as a child. It just so happened that I married into a family that is heavily involved in it as well. By participating in the ticket system, you do your part to keep this event free and in existence!
