2023.06.03 13:02 Temporary-Energy7021 Some Of My Arena/Mutt Ideas
I’ve been planning this for a bit but I’m probably never going to write this into existence so here it is.
ARENA: The arena is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The mountains are scattered with hot springs, caves and tunnels (most blocked by walls of ice). Most of the land is covered in forest and thin-frosted streams. The Cornucopia is located in the centre of a frozen lake.
EVENTS: 1. After most tributes are dead, a storm will brew. All tributes in the forest will be safe. However, the higher the altitude climbs, the worse the weather will get. All the tributes in the mountains will be forced to take shelter in the tunnels/caves. When this happens, multiple rigged rockfalls will trigger and trap them inside. This will divide the remaining tributes into two groups: those in the forest and those in the mountains. Creating split footage.
EVENTS: 2. The arena becomes hotter. The snow-covered trees in the forest will begin to melt, revealing a thick layer of wax underneath. All tributes in the forest will suffer intense heat. While this is happening, the tributes in the mountains will be trying to escape. The melting ice will slowly flood the tunnels.
EVENTS (FINALE): 3. The wax-covered trees will start burning. Emitting a putrid smell that induces vomiting. The wax is explosive and will burst like fireworks.
MUTTS: 1. Owls that vomits green bioluminescent fluid on tributes. The fluid will glow at night and reveal their hiding places. It is invisible during the day and wears off quickly. Mutated in the Capitol, the fluid will slowly kill them (the owls). They live for only two weeks.
MUTTS: 2. Deers. Pretty fast. Their hoof-prints are mutated to look like tributes’ tracks in the snow. Creates paranoia.

2023.06.03 13:00 No-Commercial-4830 Self-righteous behavior from Aloy in the quest The Twilight Path
Aloy's actions during "The Twilight Path" quest present a highly flawed and arguably self-righteous stance.
The situation involves a group of loyalist from the old overthrown immoral Shadow Carja regime who have chosen to occupy a mountain path for their religious rituals, disregarding any other rightful uses of this common area.
One of these rightful uses was claimed by the Hunter, Tolland, who downed a storm bird atop the mountain. However, due to the loyalists' persistent occupation and their willingness to resort to violence, the hunter was kept from retrieving his hard-earned loot. Despite his patience wearing thin after several days, the loyalists refused to budge. The hunter was understandably poised to assert his rights forcefully. The important thing to note is that the aggressive party is not Tolland. All he intends is to use the Mountain Path which he has a right to. It’s the Shadow Carja who would become violent if he were to, forcing him to become violent as well.
Enter Aloy, our protagonist, who should ideally bring justice to such a situation. Instead, she takes it upon herself to gift the storm bird loot, which is not hers to give, to the loyalists. He has no choice but to accept lest he wishes to fight Aloy. This move is questionable at best. By doing so, she reinforces the loyalists' belief that their cause justifies their unjust actions, thus enabling and promoting a form of moral bankruptcy. This loot rightfully belongs to Tolland and it is not Aloy's place to determine its distribution.
What's even more concerning is the fact that the loyalists have other options. With Petra’s approval , Chainscrape could have been an option for them to seek refuge and support. The loot from the storm bird wasn't a necessity for their survival, but Aloy seemingly ignored this fact.
Furthermore, it's important to note that the loyalists' current predicament as refugees is largely self-inflicted. They chose to flee due to their unwavering support for the fallen regime. Their situation doesn't grant them the right to infringe upon others' rights. Aloy's support of these individuals and their actions, despite these points, underlines a deeply troubling self-righteous attitude on her part.
Here’s an analogy to further illustrate the point:
Imagine, post-WWII, a small group of unrepentant Nazis have fled to an isolated mountain path that is public land but seldom visited by locals. They're holding a prolonged vigil for the fallen Third Reich, claiming exclusive use of this public space.
Now, consider a local explorer who discovers a valuable artifact on this path. It's his find, but due to the Nazis' occupancy and threats of violence, he is unable to retrieve it.
Enter Alice (Aloy), a respected local mediator. Instead of confronting the Nazis (Old Shadow Carja Regime) about their unlawful occupation and enabling the explorer to claim his find, she decides to take the artifact and give it to the Nazis, believing this will help them in their plight. However, this artifact isn't Alice's to give, and there's a nearby city where the Nazis could have sought refuge and support.
Their current refugee status is a direct consequence of their refusal to let go of their allegiance to the defeated and morally bankrupt Nazi regime. Alice's decision not only fails to address the Nazis' wrongful occupancy but also undermines the rights of the explorer who discovered the artifact.
Lastly, painting Tolland as an evil person that deserved it due to things that happen after the quest are post-hoc justifications. At that moment, this is all the information we and Aloy have access to and she should be judged based on them.

2023.06.03 12:42 PrakashGuptapg Surprising Benefits of Video Conferencing Solutions
One of today's most common methods of communication is video conferencing or virtual meetings. Businesses have seen a decrease in travel expenses and an increase in productivity. Additionally, businesses use video conferencing to communicate with clients, partners, and staff members worldwide.
The technology has existed for a while, but only recently has it experienced a surge in popularity as a result of its capacity to offer simultaneous real-time contact among many individuals.
What is Video Conferencing? The use of audio and visual technology to communicate among numerous participants is known as video conferencing.
Regardless of their actual location, users can participate in meetings, presentations, and other activities with
video conferencing solutions.
It's a fantastic approach to communicating with those who are far away. Without leaving your home office, you can have meetings with clients or coworkers who live elsewhere. Because you can instantly share files and screen information, video conferencing also makes it simpler to cooperate with teams that are located across the county or around the world.
1. Increases Team Efficiency Efficiency gains for teams are one of video conferencing's main advantages. Teams have more time to concentrate on their task because they can travel less. Additionally, more effective communication and decision-making lead to increased accountability and productivity.
2. Instantaneous Communication An excellent approach to communicating with people who are in various places is through video conferencing. Unlike asynchronous methods of communication like email and phone conversations, it provides real-time communication. People's body language and facial expressions are visible. Additionally, you can view their surroundings, which clarifies their context.
This will keep everyone on the same page and ensure that nothing is lost in translation, making it particularly helpful for business meetings or brainstorming sessions.
3. Increases productivity Would you rather connect through a video conference and have a virtual face-to-face talk with a client than send them an email and wait for their response? The latter method, using the screen-sharing capability for interactive meetings and webinars, is the most popular.
By enabling employees to work remotely from any location,
video conferencing solutions help to increase productivity. The flexibility allows workers to maintain a work-life balance, whether they are in coffee shops, on the beach, or in the mountains.
4. Translation for multilingual meetings Nowadays, the majority of companies serve customers from other countries, and communicating remotely to discuss business plans and strategies has become customary. Of course, a language barrier is a problem that arises. But there is a fix in the cloud.
Companies can use Skype and Microsoft Teams, which have tools for text or voice translation. It enables communication in different languages by transcribing spoken words and translating them in real time for everyone to hear and comprehend.
5. Saves Time When it comes to time-saving, video conferencing offers several advantages. One reason is that face-to-face meetings can take longer than virtual ones. People can remain seated at their workplaces and participate in the conference via video chat rather than travelling across the neighborhood or the nation. The majority of us travel for 30% of the workday, so this adds up to a lot more lost time overall!
Choosing from one of the best
video conferencing companies can reduce overhead costs by omitting costly venue rents and catering expenditures, in addition to saving money on travel expenses and lost productivity from waiting in traffic.
6. Facilitates the Global Approach of Businesses The capability of video conferencing to enable global corporate expansion is one of its most significant advantages. A firm can utilize video conferencing to collaborate with other enterprises and enhance customer service, both of which contribute to a better overall customer experience.
7. Establishing a Powerful Professional Network Create a powerful professional network, video conferencing has grown to be a crucial tool for business professionals. Everything from job interviews to fostering ties with partners and clients to simply catching up with
video conferencing companies around the world uses video conferencing.
8. Promotes Better Decision Making Everyone on your team can see each other's faces when you're all in the same room, which facilitates communication. Because you don't have to wait for your coworkers to respond by email or text, you may have more productive interactions with them. Additionally, you won't have to rely just on one person's opinion because you will hear several points of view from those seated around you. This will help you to grasp issues better and make deft decisions.
Conclusion Businesses can benefit greatly from using
video conferencing solutions in Australia because it increases productivity and efficiency. It is impossible to exaggerate how useful this technology is because it gives workers infinite options for collaboration and goal-achieving.

2023.06.03 12:20 danish_throwaway (Spoilers Extended) to me Tyrion is the Bojack horseman of ASOIAF
Spoilers for all books and Bojack Horseman.
Allright i know it's a bit hyperbolic, and they have some completely different character traits, but in a way their behaviours are kind of similar. For one they keep excusing their bad behaviour by thinking about their parents abuse. And the abuse is horrible in both cases but it's not an excuse in and of itself. Another thing that they have in common is their inability to understand how, because of their power, their actions effect others. For example in BH. Bojack wants to shoot a very important scene in the secretariat movie, despite the wishes of the producer. He convinces the director to shoot the scene, to show the sceptical producer. The next day the director kelsey jannings is fires because of the scene. So the director gets fired because Bojack talked her into it. It wasn't out of malice or anything but because he couldn't understand the consequences.
Now let's talk about Tyrion. After being horribly treated in the Vale he finds the Mountain Clan, and arms them to 'annoy' the Vale and Lysa Arryn. He doesn't even consider the fact that some small folk will be killed, I don't think he has the intention of killing them, but to him it's just sunk cost, just like Bojack. Sure Bojack is sad but he'll live because he wasn't fired.
I don't know what this write up was tbh but it was something I've thought about for some time.
Of course they're in wildly different circumstances, but it's interesting that their pattern of behaviour seem similar, at least to a point
Btw sorry for bad English, it isn't my first language.

2023.06.03 11:20 Junior-Cook8354 Common myths of heart bypass surgery
Myth 1: Heart bypass surgery is a last resort
There is a common myth that heart bypass surgery is only considered as a final option when all other treatments have been exhausted. While doctors do explore less invasive treatments initially, such as medication and lifestyle changes, heart bypass surgery is often recommended as a proactive approach to address significant blockages in the coronary arteries. It is important to note that bypass surgery is not limited to emergencies or life-threatening situations. The procedure can improve blood flow to the heart, alleviate symptoms, and reduce the risk of a heart attack.
Myth 2: Heart bypass surgery cures heart disease
It is a myth to believe that heart bypass surgery can completely cure heart disease. While the procedure aims to bypass or redirect blood flow around blockages in the coronary arteries, restoring blood supply to the heart muscle, it does not address the underlying causes of heart disease, such as lifestyle factors or genetic predisposition. Patients who undergo bypass surgery still need to adopt a heart-healthy lifestyle and follow their doctor's recommendations to effectively manage their condition.
Myth 3: Heart bypass surgery is always risky
It is a myth to assume that heart bypass surgery always carries a high level of risk. Thanks to advancements in medical technology and surgical techniques, the safety and success rates of the procedure have significantly improved. Surgeons who perform heart bypass surgery are highly trained professionals with extensive experience, making it a routine procedure in many hospitals worldwide. Although all surgical procedures carry some degree of risk, the risks associated with bypass surgery are relatively low, and the potential benefits often outweigh them, especially for patients with significant coronary artery blockages.
Myth 4: Heart bypass surgery is an extremely painful procedure
It is a myth to claim that heart bypass surgery is an excessively painful procedure. While there may be some discomfort during the recovery period, advancements in anesthesia and pain management techniques have greatly improved the patient experience. The use of epidural anesthesia, pain-relieving medications, and other strategies help effectively manage pain and promote a smoother recovery process. Patients are closely monitored and provided with appropriate pain relief to minimize discomfort.
Myth 5: Heart bypass surgery has a long and difficult recovery
It is not accurate to suggest that heart bypass surgery entails an overly lengthy and challenging recovery process. The duration of recovery varies depending on factors such as the patient's overall health, the complexity of the surgery, and their adherence to post-operative care. Typically, patients stay in the hospital for about a week following surgery, and complete recovery generally takes several weeks to a few months. Cardiac rehabilitation programs are instrumental in helping patients regain strength and endurance, facilitating a more manageable recovery process.
Myth 6: Heart bypass surgery is only for older patients
It is a myth to assume that heart bypass surgery is exclusively reserved for older patients. While age can be a consideration in the decision-making process, bypass surgery can be performed on individuals across various age groups. The eligibility for surgery primarily depends on the severity of coronary artery blockages and the patient's overall health. Younger patients with significant blockages or those at higher risk of heart-related complications may be considered suitable candidates for bypass surgery. Ultimately, the decision is based on a thorough evaluation of each patient's unique circumstances.
You can undergo
heart bypass surgery in Mumbai under the care and guidance of some of the best healthcare professionals in the country.

2023.06.03 10:51 Kami1996 The Nine Hells: Nessus
I literally sit beneath eight tiers of scheming ambitious entities that represent primal law suffused with evil. The path from this realm leads to an infinite pit of chaos and evil. Now, tell me again how you and your ilk are the victims in this eternal struggle. - Asmodeus (Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes)
The plane of Nessus is incredibly unique compared to the other planes of Nessus. This plane floats in a swirling crimson void that encompasses them from all directions. The plane itself is flat in its surface, devoid of trees or changes in elevation. The desolate plane, unlike any other plane of Baator, is finite in its size. It stretches 2,500 miles from east to west and 1,100 miles from north to south. The flatness of the plane leaves no place for any creature to hide.
A system of crisscrossing gorge and canyons marks the only true changes in elevation in the plane. In these gorges, canyons, and the network of caves that connect them, live the billions of devils of Nessus. These structures have an infinite amount of space even given the finite nature of the plane. These gorges and canyons often cross, forming towering plateaus.
The canyons and gorges are each distinct and travel to specific locations. However, they all look exactly alike. More importantly, most of these canyons are missing from most maps of the plane. A few maps that were drawn by suicidal or brave adventurers can be found but tend to be extremely pricey. A map of a square mile section of Nessus can easily cost as much as a small castle.
A few of these canyons have bridges that span them. These few bridges are heavily guarded by Asmodeus's elite guards and a host of traps. Rare unguarded bridges are death traps that will inevitably break and send any crosser to their death. The shallowest canyon is 200 feet deep, and the remaining canyons and gorges are usually deeper. Devils in Nessus who cannot fly are encouraged to stick close to the caves and crevasses. In emergency situations, the devils must climb the walls using some sparse handholds or frayed ropes. It is not uncommon for devils to fall to their deaths as a result.
Directions in Baator are unlike the directions of the Material Plane. The strange nature of these planes makes the standard compass rose useless. Most Archdukes simply established the standard compass as a means of travel and mapping for their own planes, arbitrarily assigning a point as north. Asmodeus however, decrees that his own castle should be the northern most point despite its central location on the plane. The strange decree further complicates maps of Nessus making navigating the plane even harder.
DISCOVERY
Nessus was the first layer of Baator to be created and was the original plane of Hell to be created when the Gods of Celestia signed the Pact Primeval. The plane was granted to Asmodeus and his ilk by the Gods so they would not have to witness the punishment rendered to mortal souls. On the plane, the devils first began their plans to corrupt mortals. It was on this original plane that these devils, still somewhat angelic in nature, worked with the Ancient Baatorians to administer their justice. The plane, bleak and barren, was slowly built up and expanded into a tiered infinite plane. The plane was rapidly built into a major factory for manufacturing more devils and harvesting divine energy from the mortal souls that the devils corrupted. The only brief delay in construction of the plane came during a short, but vicious, war between Mephistopheles, the former right hand of Asmodeus, and the Arch-Devil. After the war ended, the construction began anew and the two made amends.
When the Gods discovered that Asmodeus and his devils were luring mortals into disobedience and corruption, they once again put Asmodeus on trial. When the trial proved useless and Asmodeus was acquitted of the charges, the Gods were furious. They threw the devil back to Baator, sending him hurling from the tip of Celestia.
When Asmodeus crashed into Baator, the force of the impact tore a stretch of the initial plane and killed many of the plane's original inhabitants and mutilated many of the others who were not powerful enough to withstand the impact. As the devil continued to fall with his stretch of the original Baatorian plane, the devil carved new planes. Eight new planes formed before the devil and the plane he had rent from the original stopped falling. Asmodeus continued to fall deep into the plane till he came to rest under a massive pile of rubble, bleeding and badly hurt, in the deepest part of Nessus, which came to be known as the Pit.
When the devil eventually recovered, he made this deepest, finite plane his home as a reminder of his fall. From Nessus, the Arch-Devil slowly retook control of the remainder of Baator and resumed his lawful duties.
The creation of the plane of Nessus was not known to the mortal races for millennium. Asmodeus is a jealous guard of his plane and entrance to Nessus requires a letter of permission from the Arch-Devil himself. The first documentation of the plane of Nessus for the Prime Material Plane comes from the philosopher, Philogestes. Philogestes sold his own soul to Asmodeus for the opportunity to document information about Baator. Though, he was given permission to observe and record details about the plane of Nessus, Philogestes could not detail everything. Much of Nessus remains a mystery to those who dwell on the Material Plane.
Travel
The easiest way to travel to Nessus is to be invited by the Arch-Devil onto the plane. Very few mortals have ever received this privilege.
For those who have not received a personal invitation, the only way to enter the plane would be through the plane prior to it, Cania. From Cania, adventurers could sail along the River Styx into Nessus. This path is extremely perilous. For starters, the river is incredibly difficult to navigate. Directions in the Nine Hells are confusing. It is just as likely that sailing along the river could lead to Maladomini. Additionally, the river’s currents are unpredictable, forming whirlpools, eddies, and undertows that can challenge even the most experienced sailors. Moreover, the Styx is guarded by roaming bands of devils as well as undead which are drawn to any sources of life. The river is also known to create illusions and mirages which can mislead travelers. It would be advisable to hire a devil in Cania to act as a guide on the waters.
THE LOCALS
Nessus is different from the other layers of Baator because it has a much higher proportion of the greater devils compared with the lesser devils. The most common kind of devil that is found on Nessus is the pit fiend, though horned devils are a close second. In addition to devils, a few other creatures traverse the planes of Nessus. While hellhounds are a common beast in Nessus, a special breed of hellhound known as the Nessian hellhound roams the plane. These are far more vicious and deadly than the original hellhound. The Nessian hell-hounds form packs with the regular hellhounds and hunt the plane for intruders or lesser devils. There are a few other fiendish beasts that are not devils on Nessus, but there are no mortals who live here.
Asmodeus, a tall, red-skinned devil, with dark horns and elegant clothing is the Lord of Nessus. Known as the Dark One, the Lord of Lies, and the Prince of Evil, Asmodeus is the Arch-Devil of Baator. He rules the plane with an iron fist of law and conducts himself in a soft-spoken, articulate, and ruthlessly logically. Those who look closely at the Arch-Devil will notice that though the devil holds himself with poise and elegance, he is covered in injuries that have not healed. These injuries were sustained by Asmodeus when he was thrown from Celestia. Asmodeus carries himself in public as though the injuries no longer affect him, however they still hurt tremendously, and Asmodeus focuses much of his energy on recovering from the injuries.
Asmodeus is the undisputed master of Baator and exercises complete control over the plane. The Arch-Devil can alter any of the planes at will and can also alter the forms of any of the other Archdukes of Baator. In some cases, he can also kill the others, which causes some of the Archdukes to fear him greatly. With his dominance over Baator, Asmodeus spends much of his time focused on the conquest of other planes, especially the Prime Material Plane and Celestia. Asmodeus receives the energy from any soul collected by any devil or Duke of Baator. For the time being, He spends his time using the energy to heal his own wounds. Once his wounds have healed, Asmodeus intends to use the collected Divine Energy to forge a temporary truce with the Demons and use the truce to destroy the forces of Good once and for all.
Asmodeus is a schemer in every sense. The devil is a smooth talker who only engages with non-devils to corrupt them. One example of such a corruption is the corruption of Zariel, a celestial, into the once Archduke of Avernus. Asmodeus is one of the few devils to never father any Cambion, considering himself far superior to any such creature. A few tieflings also receive the blessing of Asmodeus. These tieflings are far more intelligent than any other and are given a superior mastery over fire. These tieflings are resistant to flames from any creature except those commanded directly by Asmodeus.
In addition to his unsurpassed intellect and charm, Asmodeus is an unmatched combatant, well-versed in both magic and weapon-craft. Asmodeus earned his fame when prior to the creation of Baator, the then-angel was ambushed by a demon invasion without his troops. The Gods sent an army of angels to defend the invasion, believing Asmodeus to have been overwhelmed. The angels arrived too late, however. Instead of finding an army of demons, the angels found that Asmodeus kept the invasion at bay and even pushed the defense into an offense into the Abyss, bolstered by their reinforcement. Though the Archdevil has not fought at the front lines of the Blood Wars, his combat prowess has not decreased.
Once a year, the Arch-Devil holds a feast at his palace in Nessus's Pit, Malsheem. To this feast, the Arch-Devil invites the other Archdukes, devils who have earned a seat of honor, and a few select mortals that have earned his respect or interest (for better or worse). The feast is an enormous affair, and the only time of the year when the pathway to the palace becomes available for creatures other than the Dukes of Nessus to traverse, though it is still heavily guarded to prevent intruders from reaching the palace. The purpose of the Feast is to serve to touch base with the dukes to ensure that Asmodeus's plans are going according to plan, to ensure Hell's superiority in the Blood War, reward devils who have performed exceptionally enough to gain the Lord of the Nine's attention, and to contract mortals who may be useful to himself. These feast feature extravagant performances, a plethora of delicious food and drink, and as much vice as any being could desire.
Adramalech is the right-hand of Asmodeus and serves as the Arch-Devil’s chancellor. His preferred form is that of an elderly human man with a gray beard. His eyes change color to reflect his mood, green when he’s happy and orange when upset and black all other times. In this form, the only features to identify him as a devil are two small, crimson horns that protrude from his head and a single forked tail. He prefers to dress in hues of green and purple.
This devil is tasked with maintaining all records regarding the Nine Hells. In this role, he constantly updates the number of souls collected, the various contracts that exist between devils and mortals, and presides over the court of Devils which settle disputes regarding contracts. Adramalech also tracks every torment caused to devils and the names and locations of any devils not in the Nine Hells. Somehow, despite this busy schedule, Adramalech also finds time to maintain an extensive spy network among the pit fiends which collect information. Adramalech stores this information and the true names of all devils in a tome he calls “The Infernal Record” which is colloquially known to mortals as the “Book of Fire”. Adramalech finds stress relief by torturing the souls of mortals in an extensive dungeon network which lies below Fortress Nessus. He especially despises Humans and Elves and takes special joy in causing them pain.
Adramalech has full authority to give orders to devils. This power was given to Adramalech because he is the only devil in the Nine Hells who shows no desire to usurp the Asmodeus. As a notably weak devil, Adramalech understands that even if he were to somehow become an Arch-Duke or Arch-Devil he would be easily overthrown. Instead, he enjoys the power and control he wields over the Nine Hells from the safety of Asmodeus’s right hand. Adramalech enjoys a small cult of followers in the Prime Material Plane who kidnap and sacrifice human and elf children to him. Because Adramalech is so physically weak, he is constantly guarded by a legion of Pit Fiends.
Phongor is the left-hand of Asmodeus and a rival of Adramalech. This devil usually resembles a human male with pink skin and eyes which glitter even in the shadows. He has oily black hair, two small twisting black horns, and red hooves for feet with a similarly colored tail.
Phongor serves as Asmodeus’s Chief Inquisitor. It is his duty to uncover secrets or to find information that Asmodeus wishes to find. Phongor is considered the most feared devil in Baator after Asmodeus because of his penchant for torture, his prowess in combat with a wickedly sharp whip, and his ability to sniff out secrets.
Phongor’s rivalry with Adramalech is because he knows that the Record Keeper does not know his true name. Adramalech frequently sends spies to try to find Phongor’s true name as it is the only one, he does not know. In response, Phongor sniffs out these spies and viciously kills them because he knows that his secret allows him to maintain an even position of power in Nessus with the Chancellor. His prowess at finding information for Asmodeus means that he holds equal value currently for the Arch-Devil. Phongor spends much of his time ensuring that Asmodeus is well informed regarding the events of every plane. To do so, he has enlisted some of Adramalech’s spies to work for him and tortures information out of other creatures as he needs.
While Adramalech and Phongor serve as Asmodeus’s right and left-hand respectively, his favorite servant is his executioner, Alastor the Grim. A horrifically scarred and broken winged pit fiend, Alastor is considered the strongest of the Pit Fiends. Rumored to be one of the first devils born from Asmodeus’s blood, Alastor the Grim does not speak or act independently of his master. He always accompanies the Arch-Devil acting as a bodyguard and as the executioner for whomever displeases Asmodeus. It is a common belief that if the Nine Hells were destroyed and Asmodeus could only save one creature other than himself, he would choose Alastor the Grim. Alastor the Grim also commands the personal armies of Asmodeus.
There are always six generals in Nessus for Asmodeus’s armies. These generals are constantly changing as the devils vie for power and control.
NOTABLE LOCATIONS
There are two types of notable locations on the plane of Nessus: geographical features and infernal constructions.
The first major geographical feature of Nessus is the river Styx, which enters Nessus through a hidden (and heavily guarded) location from Cania. The river reaches its lowest point in Nessus in a lake known as the “Forgotten Lake”. From here, it sinks into the plain and drips into Gehenna (an outer plane not connected to the Nine Hells).
The Forgotten Lake is rumored to be the place that beautiful memories go to die. When mortal souls are first brough to the Nine Hells, their memories are stripped from them and sent here. Here, the thoughts are broken down and destroyed. Should a creature look into the waters, they will see beautiful memories that slowly corrupt into fiendish nightmares.
Several other rivers also off shoot from the river Styx to fill the rest of Nessus. One of these, indistinguishable from the others, is the river Lethe whose waters are known to cause complete memory loss.
Several notable gorges are also spread throughout the plane. Reaper’s Canyon is Nessus’s canyon of death. Here, no injuries heal, and death finds creatures twice as quickly as elsewhere. Sicknesses and disease are far more powerful. Another canyon is known as Hell’s Lips and is the epitome of gluttony. Mortals that find themselves here may become overcome with insatiable thirst and hunger. One fissure that travels from north to south on the plane is “The Nest”, which houses hundreds of nests for fiendish wasps.
The most noticeable geographic location in Nessus is the large winding canyon that sinks deeper and deeper into the plane, The Serpent’s Pass. This canyon, carved from Asmodeus’s fall, carves to the deepest point of Nessus, which in unknown even to most devils.
At the center, and northern most point, of the plane is a large pit which houses the city of Malsheem. Built from stone and Baatorian green steel, the city stretches in multiple layers along the gorge. Over time, the ever-expanding city has slowly begun to form tunnels into the walls and floor of the pit. This large structure, designed by Asmodeus, is home to millions of devils, perhaps the strongest in the nine hells. Here, Asmodeus keeps his personal army, waiting to conquer the planes with it. At the center of the city of Malsheem is the Fortress Nessus.
Fortress Nessus sits at the deepest point of the Serpent’s Coil but rises far above the rest of the plane. Decadent and bleak, the fortress seems to be a failed recreation of the home of the Gods. Here, Asmodeus resides and rules. The fortress has not been mapped previously and seems uninhabited at all times of the day. Despite its appearance, the fortress is teeming with devils and dangers. Below the fortress is an extensive dungeon which houses the souls of humans and elves for Adramalech to torture. Fortress Nessus also houses the Infernal Records.
The last location of note for Nessus is Tabjari, which lies in Reaper Canyon. Tabjari is a copper citadel which serves as the library, vault, and armory for Asmodeus. Tabjari is nearly impossible to enter. Its entrance is a highly guarded secret. The entire structure is heavily guarded by traps, magic, and devils. The security of Tabjari is even greater than the security in Fortress Nessus because it houses Asmodeus’s greatest treasure, one of the original copies of the Pact Primeval.
MYSTERIES
There are many mysteries with the plane of Nessus for the curious adventurer to find, though at great personal risk. Many of these mysteries remain because adventurers who chose to explore the plane did not return.
The first great mystery of Nessus is how to enter the plane. Though there is an entrance via the river Styx, this passage would require that adventurers travel through the other 8 planes of Baator to find their way into Nessus. Still, this river entrance is hidden and extremely well-guarded. Finding and mapping this location would make one rich beyond definition.
Another great mystery of Nessus comes from a rumor that Asmodeus is still greatly weakened by his wounds. A common rumor within the Outer Planes is that Asmodeus’s true form lies still broken and beaten within Fortress Nessus. Many of the other Archdukes and the Demon Princes of the Abyss spend a significant amount of time trying to find out if the rumor is true (and the location of Asmodeus’s true form) with the hopes of conquering the 9 hells.
The fortress Nessus hold many other secrets, such as information about the weaknesses of the Archdukes, that could hold much value for any being that could find them.
Tabjari holds one of the original copies of the Pact Primeval, which provides the place around it with enormous power. In this place, magic is said to achieve feats that would be otherwise impossible. For this reason, its location is deeply sought. Additionally, the copy itself provides significant strength to the devils. If it were to be stolen, it would greatly turn the tide of the Blood War in favor of the Abyss.
SURVIVAL
Surviving Nessus is horrendously difficult for those that have not been personally invited by Asmodeus. Travelers should equip themselves with means of surviving some of the hottest temperatures in the planes, second perhaps only to the plane of fire. Likewise, they should equip themselves to survive frigid temperatures that exist in some of the gorges. Because Nessus is finite, it can be more easily mapped than any other planes. Perhaps a daring adventuring group would be able to find some enemy of Asmodeus who has a map of the plane. Another duke of the nine hells may have such a map and forming a pact with one may be wise for finding a way through Nessus without Asmodeus’s permission. If not, the safest way to traverse the plane would be to make some pact with the Arch-Devil.
For those who attempt to sneak onto Nessus, stealth is the best option. The plane teems with a seemingly infinite number of the deadliest devils in the nine hells. Direct confrontation with a small group will only draw more of them towards a party. Additionally, it would be wise to find some way to carry provision onto the plane because food is sparse. Nessus is also covered in a dense fog of noxious fumes which make breathing difficult. Adventurers should account for this trait and find some way to filter their breathing as needed.

With this, I have finally finished an entry for each of the Nine Hells for the Atlas project. I started writing about the Nine Hells in 2018, five years ago. After 4 years of writing and rewriting this article, it’s finally done which is a weird feeling. Nessus was especially hard to write about because I wanted it to feel dangerous, mysterious, and hard to understand. Hopefully, this is useful to some people. Moving forward, I’m planning to update the older entries with better information.

2023.06.03 10:40 pecovje Mountain lodges/cabins in tatra mountains?
Greetings from slovenia, i'm planing on visiting poland this fall and i have one question for you guys. Does poland have such thing as mounteniering cabins in tatra mountains because all i can find is ski resorts and air bnb/booking apartments. What i mean by that is a system similar to here, where mounteniering association owns cabins high in the mountains that are open all the time for everyone and offer cheap beds so people can hike high in the mountains for days going from one cabin to another and if so is there a site where they are all listed so one can plan out a route in advance and make necessary reservations. Thank you for your help.

2023.06.03 10:29 bubblygumgum Paying it forward post My A-Z online PMP exam tips (Test location is very important!!!)
Phew, I recently passed the PMP exam under 2 week study and wanna share my stressful experience so that you don't make the same mistakes as I did. Some of the info here I didn't find in other posts.
LOCATION: - You need a private location for the online exam, meaning NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO WALK IN/AROUND OR SIT IN THE SAME ROOM WITH YOU. Proctor will check (even more than one time) by asking you to move webcam/laptop around to show them the space. If someone happens to WALK IN BEHIND you, you're done :( The webcam and mic are on and recording your whole exam. (I made a mistake by scheduling my exam at a coworking space, it was not okay!! Lucky me, it was Saturday and I got the whole room for myself but I was frantically going through the questions as fast as possible in case someone comes, not good)
- Check in 30 mins before the exam. There're a lot to do including retesting the system, verify the space, etc.
- DO NOT MOVE out of webcam while taking the exam.
- You will have 2 optional 10-min breaks, automatically starting after Q60 and Q120. Then you can move around and take restroom break.
APPLICATION: This is the most time consuming process. I didnt study until my application got approved. I followed the instructions from other redditors that you can easily search. You need to prepare: (I did this on word before filling on website)
- Project name,
- Your job title,
- Your department,
- Project budget (roughly)
- Project team (roughly)
- Project Description - From 200 to max 500 words. It is LOOOONG. Use terms and activities advised by PMI:
- One brief sentence on project objective,
- summary of what you did by process groups IN, PL, EX, MC, CL - yes make sure your experience cover them all and YOU as project manager play proactive role in these activities i.e I lead, I developed, etc.
- one sentence project outcome
Be selective on the list of projects, pick the longest ones only. You DONT need to list out ALL the projects that you managed. PMI application will only let you input just enough the number of months required, not more. This took me a week. Yes, pray you are not selected for audit. I imagine its gonna be nightmarish unless you work for one company your whole career.
COST & BENEFITS: Register PMI membership at 120$ (I dont remember correctly), your exam will cost about 275$, so total of more than $400 a bit. Def better than $555. With 5 years of project management experience, I found the study quite interesting and helpful. The PMBOK 7th def focus a lot more on usable and practical knowledge rather than endless processes in PMBOK 6th. Glad they revamped it.
STUDYING: - I spent less than 60 hours preparing for this exam. BUT I would say, if you are working full time, minimum 2 weeks are required. Not because its difficult, because it's A LOT OF THINGS TO REMEMBER. Unless you have had broad experience with agile and waterfall, then its def gonna super familiar and faster.
- My studying strategy: I tryna understand the concepts, processes and tools. Not just memorizing them.
- Watch these videos by Ricardo Vargas over and over again: PMBOK 7th https://youtu.be/HVlrxOQoSUw, and PMBOK 6th process groups: https://youtu.be/GC7pN8Mjot8
- Watch and understand these practice questions: agile https://youtu.be/tNIHysh2ZW4, pmbok 7th: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zht0-j03NfQ
- Do practice tests: TIA Education, PMP Prepcast. Caution: Some of the tests out there are outdated. DO not attempt to do those. It's not very relevant and it's also discouraging when you got bad score. You can realize them if they start mentioning output, input and focus too much on what processes to use.
- Read PMBOK 7th. Very helpful. I panicked a little when I saw terms I dont know. So reading / scheming (like i did) the book will you familiarize with those terms.
Woah that was long. Good luck fellas!

2023.06.03 10:09 aakar-pools Why Investing in a Swimming Pool is Worth it for You and Your Family's
| https://preview.redd.it/jory7mfmgr3b1.jpg?width=1748&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=93f5b9373e8e4249510b7fd6280e9862918da8b4 Summer is just around the corner, and what better way to beat the heat than by taking a refreshing dip in your very own swimming pool? Not only do pools provide an escape from the scorching sun, but they also offer numerous health benefits for you and your family. From physical fitness to mental well-being, investing in a swimming pool can bring happiness and relaxation into your daily routine. In this blog post, we'll explore why owning a pool is worth it for both your health and overall enjoyment of life. Plus, we'll give you tips on how to choose the right pool for your family's needs and how to maintain it properly. Let's dive in. Benefits of Swimming Pools Swimming pools offer a wide range of benefits to both adults and children, making them an excellent investment for your overall health and well-being. For starters, swimming is an effective form of exercise that can help improve cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and endurance. Not only does it work out the entire body without putting too much strain on any one area or joint, but it's also low-impact and easy on the joints. Owning a pool is also an excellent way to encourage family time together while enjoying some fresh air in the comfort of your backyard. Kids love playing in the water with parents or friends while parents appreciate being able to keep an eye on their kids at all times. Having access to your own personal pool means you don't have to deal with crowded public areas where social distancing may be challenging during peak season - giving you peace of mind when it comes to safety concerns! 1. Health Benefits of Swimming Swimming is one of the most effective and low-impact exercises that can improve overall health and wellness. It's an excellent way to maintain cardiovascular fitness, tone muscles, and increase endurance without putting too much pressure on your joints. One of the main health benefits of swimming is that it can help reduce stress levels by promoting relaxation throughout the body. The repetitive motion of swimming combined with deep breathing techniques helps lower cortisol levels, which in turn decreases stress hormones in our bodies. In addition to reducing stress, swimming also helps decrease blood pressure levels. This is because regular exercise strengthens the heart muscle, allowing it to pump more efficiently while lowering resistance within our arteries. Swimming is a great form of exercise for those who suffer from joint pain or injuries as it doesn't put excessive strain on your joints compared to other high-impact activities such as running or weightlifting. Additionally, studies have shown that consistent swimming can help alleviate chronic pain symptoms associated with conditions like arthritis. Incorporating swimming into your weekly routine provides numerous physical and mental benefits for individuals at any age or fitness level. 2. Mental Health Benefits of Swimming Swimming is not only good for physical health, but it also has many mental health benefits. One of the most significant benefits is that swimming can reduce stress and anxiety levels. When we swim, our body releases endorphins which are natural feel-good chemicals that help to alleviate stress and promote relaxation. Additionally, swimming can also improve cognitive function as it requires a great deal of focus and coordination. By practicing these skills in the pool on a regular basis, individuals may see improvements in their overall mental clarity and ability to concentrate. Moreover, swimming can be an excellent way to boost self-confidence. Learning how to swim or improving upon existing skills can provide a sense of accomplishment and pride. This increased confidence can translate into other areas of life outside of the pool. Swimming provides an opportunity for socialization which is important for maintaining good mental health. Joining a local swim club or taking lessons with friends or family members allows individuals to connect with others who share similar interests while getting exercise at the same time. 3. Financial Benefits of Owning a Pool Owning a swimming pool can be a significant investment, but it also comes with financial benefits. Firstly, having your own pool means you don't have to pay for expensive memberships or admission fees at public pools. Over time, these cost savings can add up and make owning a pool more economical in the long run. Another financial benefit of owning a swimming pool is that it can increase your property value. A well-maintained and attractive pool area adds appeal to your home, making it more desirable for potential buyers if you were ever to sell your property. Moreover, when compared to other outdoor entertainment options such as trips to water parks or theme parks which can be quite costly, especially during peak seasons; having access right in one's backyard is not only convenient but also provides cheaper alternatives that could last through several summers of fun. https://preview.redd.it/f6v350kngr3b1.jpg?width=1748&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0635c99da1f2c55c6f6a3e7b058724d8f1dae051 How to Choose the Right Pool for Your Family Choosing the right pool for your family is an important decision that requires careful consideration. The first thing to think about is the size of your backyard and how much space you have available for a pool. You will also want to consider what type of pool best suits your needs, such as an in-ground or above-ground pool. Another factor to consider when choosing the right pool for your family is the style and design of the pool itself. There are many different styles and designs to choose from, so it's important to pick one that fits with your overall aesthetic preferences. You'll also want to think about any additional features or accessories you might want to include with your new swimming pool, such as lighting, waterfalls, slides, or diving boards. These can add both functionality and entertainment value to your new investment. When selecting a skimmer-based pool builder or swimming pool manufacturer in Hyderabad or India-wide, make sure they provide warranties on their products and services. This ensures that any potential issues with installation or maintenance will be covered by these guarantees. Take some time when considering which type of swimming pool would be best suited for you and invest accordingly - this could ultimately result in a lifetime of happy memories spent around this fun-filled addition! Tips for Maintaining and Caring for Your Pool Maintaining and caring for your swimming pool is essential to ensure it lasts for years and continues to provide you with a safe and enjoyable experience. Here are some tips: 1. Keep the water chemistry balanced: Regularly check the pH level, chlorine levels, alkalinity, and calcium hardness of your pool. Maintaining proper chemical balance will prevent algae growth, keep the water clear, and maintain equipment longevity. 2. Clean the Pool Regularly: Skim debris off the surface of your pool regularly using a skimmer net or automatic cleaner. Brush walls and tiles weekly to remove dirt buildup that can cause stains. 3. Check Your Equipment: Inspect all equipment frequently including filters, pumps, heaters, etc., for leaks or damage so they don’t cost extra money on repairs later. 4.Regular Maintenance Schedule: Set up a regular maintenance schedule to perform routine checks like backwashing filter sand once every month or two depending upon usage patterns 5.Cover Up: Consider investing in a cover when not using your pool as this prevents leaves from falling inside while also reducing evaporation during hotter months thus saving precious water By following these simple steps regularly - you can enjoy crystal-clear waters without any problems. https://preview.redd.it/i7pni6logr3b1.jpg?width=1748&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97b581d23ca4d3dca14d7f1906a074c4753c0145 Conclusion Investing in a swimming pool is undoubtedly worth it for you and your family's health and happiness. Apart from being an excellent source of exercise, swimming also offers significant mental health benefits that can help reduce stress levels. When choosing the right pool for your family, consider factors such as space availability, budget, safety features, maintenance requirements, and style preferences. Make sure to select a reputable manufacturer with experience in building high-quality pools that meet industry standards. 2023.06.03 09:35 fuzzy_zoo 2 female travelers - one from NYC , the other from charlotte NC
My sister and I want a much needed getaway. We would like to go to a relaxing place that also has nightlife bc we need to dance and have fun ! Preferably a beach resort. We’d love to go to Aruba for example bc it’s outside the hurricane belt and we are traveling this August.
The problem is stated in my title. She can either fly to NY and we can go nonstop from there. But that isn’t cost effective. Flying to her and from CLT to Aruba is expensive also.
Any suggestions ? It doesn’t have to be Aruba but would like to go somewhere that the chance of a washout is minimum.

2023.06.03 09:33 ShadeStrider12 I visited Britain for a week. Honestly, I think there’s a bit more to my disappointment with Sword and Shield.
I’ll make this clear, even if the subsequent titles were of consistently lower quality, I still hate Sword and Shield as a game. I hate how the gameplay was gutted, I hate the region, and the story makes Ride To Hell: Retribution look well written in comparison.
But let’s put that aside for a moment.
Except for the cities, which are honestly Britain’s lamest feature, Sword and Shield’s wild areas and routes are barely British at all.
Britain’s major strength as a tourist location is its countryside. It’s easily one of the greatest countrysides of any country I’ve ever been to.
Pokémon Sword and Shield barely has any of that. I felt like most of the areas were just green with some trees and lakes pasted here or there. This isn’t Britain’s countryside.
Where the hell are the mountains? The Areas here feel like they could be part of literally any country in Europe and it wouldn’t make a difference. There isn’t really anything screaming “Britain” here.
In fact, it feels like Galar as a whole is only stereotypically British. The devs couldn’t go the extra mile and make it feel like I was in the UK. As a result, I, an Indian, want to apologize to the colonizing scum on behalf of Asia for this affront to British sensibilities.
One thing they could have done was give us a creepier, Majora’s Mask Esque setting that plays off the fact that Britain is said to be the most haunted country in the world. Like a Lavender Town, but this time it’s the entire game. It would have been atmospheric and have given this game a substantial redeeming quality, something this game above all others lacks. I will say that even the worst games have missed potential, and this is something they could have done for the setting.
As it is, Somehow America and France got the better end of the deal. Though if they really wanted to make Black and White American, they could charge you 500,000 every time you healed at the Pokémon center

2023.06.03 09:25 crogonint List of Alternate Barovian Maps which are Needed
I'm pretty sure that the majority of Barovian content creators have already seen some version of this list. I actually went back to update my original post of the list to discover that I never made my own post of it! I put together the first version of this list a couple of years ago. I'm pretty sure this is the most complete list of its kind anywhere: Alternate areas of Barovia that are commonly needed, besides the commonly published CoS specific battlemaps:
0) The (Dark) Carnival - nobody ever makes maps / assets for this, even though gobs of people always throw it in to their campaign, even though it's old as crap. I understand that there's a Carnival Realm in the new VRGtR book.. I'll probably never use the realm-carnival, but that's a second place the Dark Carnival maps/assets could be used. There are also a trio of third party Ravenloft carnival modules as well that they could be used in.
1) Battlemap sized maps of the towns. At LEAST a 5 foot per square / hex map for the tiger chase. (Obviously modern VTT platforms don't actually need the grid on the map. ;) )
2) Random shops, stables, blacksmiths and generic places the party is likely to go anyway.
3) Generic encounter locations.. country roads / rivers / bridges and combinations of the three. It sounds dumb because you can get generic encounter maps like that anywhere.. but it would be AWESOME to have matching Barovian roads and Svalitch woods on all of your encounter maps. Don't forget the specific crossroads with the gallows from CoS.. I don't recall if there were hanging cages mentioned, but you could throw in some PNG options for them.
4) A covered bridge, including the roof, deck and under views. (To tack on to the Headless Horseman add-in.) The Woodcutters hut as well.
5) Besides the Carnival, there are a few other old school modules that people like to bolt on to CoS (Adam, etc. etc.).
6) DragnaCarta, MandysMod and Pyram King have all developed alternate encounters and a handful of setting that might be able to use an alternate map here and there. (Orphanage.) In particular, I recall battles in/near the bogs, on mountain sides with/without roads and watch towers. Military and outfitter style tent interiors and exteriors and camps placed.. you know what? Make those camps be PNG assets that could be dropped in a bog, next to a river or on a mountain side as needed. ;) I recall Lunch Break Heroes making an encounter for Borgia/Borca, but I don't recall if they made any scenarios / encounters for Barovia. I got a special request for Beneath the Abbey.
7) The Interactive Tome of Strahd sends the party back in time and would be a PHENOMENAL set of maps to expand Barovia. Seriously, you could drop those on DMsGuild and make some bank. Some additionally pre-Strahd bright and shiny versions of the village of Barovia and other basic maps might be nice for some throw-back adventures.
8) Retro Castle Ravenloft.. Castle Ravenloft fully restored to its former glory! (Castle Barovia? I picture it as more of a walled garrison, looking like a giant stone bubble from a distance, but it did have at least one tower overlooking the cliff.) We know that the old pre-Strahd castle had multiple floors located in roughly the same place as Castle Ravenloft, but with significantly different floor plans, as the ghosts walk staircases and pass through doorways that don't exist anymore. :D (Important side-note: Strahd did not grow up in Castle Ravenloft. I believe that there is one (1) painting of him looking out over Yesterhill, through the mists at a vision of the castle he grew up in, but I don't think anyone has ever tackled it.)
9) The caverns and the alter area in and under the Pillarstone of Ravenloft (from Expedition to Ravenloft) are frequently added in to CoS. I've never seen a map of a hidden cavern entrance in the Svalitch woods, let alone a set of creepy Barovian caverns.. or the Castle side of the entrance, for that matter.
10) Around a decade ago, some weirdo drew an artistic image of Castle Ravenloft with the foundation bedrock rotted away under it. I'd like to see a detailed elevation map of the curtain wall and gatehouse with the bedrock still under the curtain wall, because that irritates me to no end. NOBODY would build a massive curtain wall on a questionable foundation. Reference Vlads actual castle (which is admittedly ten times smaller than Ravenloft) for a rather specific example of a (THE) castle built on the side of a cliff. As I recall, if looking at the gatehouse, the left side and back left corner of Vlads actual castle are protected by a cliff, and that's where the inspiration for Castle Ravenloft came from.
11)Speaking of elevation, at the other end of Castle Ravenloft are balconies and windows jutting out over the cliff. I'd love to see detailed maps of those areas, an 'ant sized' map of the Svalitch woods and Barovia as seen from the castle, and an elevation map of the cliff-side reaching from the Svalitch woods up past the windows and balconies to the Curtain wall. Parties occasionally decide to attempt to scale the cliff. Having a cliff and curtain wall that actually matches would be awesome.
12) Odd ball areas we never see. The druids must have huts or a village somewhere. The Roc must have a nest somewhere. The Mad Mage in Barovia has one of either a tower / cavern / pocket dimension somewhere. We could use Barovian flavored versions of all three. Oh, and the woods and encounters with said mage on the backside of the lake.. so a lake / forested area with spread out trees for players to run in terror or attempt to attack at range.. or whatever.
13) UNDER Lake Zarovich, there are a handful of generic encounters. There are also a few river monster encounters, generally near the Berez Swamp, could use a lair map and an underwater river encounter map, Barovia flavored. Speaking of Berez, I've never seen a detailed large scale swamp map for the Berez Swamp.. let alone the whole town being overrun by the swamp.
14) A proper Berez Swamp. A full sized swamp, with river banks, fields of cattail and reeds, murky backwaters, underwater groves of trees, and a couple of dozen oddly shaped islets and sandbanks.. a few dead logs.. not to mention a proper full sized assortment of Berez town ruins.
15) What's the village in the Adventurer's Guild Supplements?? Orasnou! There's a tiny village there (the size most people depict Berez as, because the CoS book doesn't describe the whole town of Berez properly). So that map is needed, along with.. 4 interior maps, if I recall? (Probably more, + a manor.) As well as an alternate werewolf lair and a few others, like a Barovian bluff, again if I recall off of the top of my head. I've had requests for the Gundarak villages Teufeldorf, Zeidenburg and Renika, as well as the other minor villages and..
16) The complete map of Barovia, post Grand Conjunction (done in standard modern style/graphics).
17) Various encounters have been depicted on Mount Baratok. Which would be a stark stone mountain, snowy and generally above the treeline, not like the hilly tree covered mountains where Argynvostholt and the Roc and etc. are located. I think a largish rocky encounter map of the mountainside would be the first needed. I (seem to) recall a three tiered monastery built on the side of a cliff, with a freshwater spring enclosed that would require an elevation map along with three small interioexterior maps showing the wooden stairs going up and down the cliff-side. I recall one encounter involving a lai small cave sized area.
18) Lots of people want Van Richtens magic shop and other stuff described in his escapades. We could also use a handful of Vistani Vardos and Camps. If I recall, there are only two described in the CoS book, but there are many more tribes of Vistani than that, and we're told that they move around frequently. If might be easier to provide PNG files for the vardos, outfitter tents and assets for a large scale camp. Come to think of it, there aren't a whole lot of tokens for those smallish horses they use either, so someone might whip up 10-12 smallish shaggy horses with unique patterns to show off. They don't care one ounce for a horses pedigree, and are more than happy to keep unique looking mongrel horses as their personal caravan animals. They use mountain horse stock when breeding their horses, so they would be a bit hairier and stockier then say an Arabian.. just scaled closer to a pony size. Donkey size! They're donkey sized horses. :D ..real donkey size, if I recall 5e has some weirdness going on with their official donkey/wagon sizes that makes no sense at all for Vardos sized horses and wagons like the Vistani would have.
19) The valley where the village of Barovia is located is described as a massive fertile farming area, yet we never see any medieval farms, ranches, graineries or farmers markets for Barovia. Definitely need a few of those. Barovian farmers and ranchers would SPECIFICALLY all have the buildings that (in the real world) later became fortifications, Thick werewolf proof walls and heavily barricaded doors everywhere. No window on the ground floor. Livestock was housed indoors, in enclosed courtyards with family areas wrapped around them, or with the animals on the ground floor and the family living above on the second floor. Horse stalls and farrowing areas would be fenced off within the area. Graineries would be large round wooden buildings with barricaded doors and sturdy out-buildings. 10 foot tall max, today's 4-5 story tall graineries are a modern invention. There would probably be a large stone community grainery far on the other side of the valley from the Village of Barovia. for that matter, there ought to be a functioning grainery or warehouse somewhere between the Village of Barovia and Bonegrinder. ALSO, if Bonegrinder is no longer being used as a mill, there would HAVE to be another windmill or waterwheel driven mill somewhere else in Barovia. Many artists have envisioned a water-wheel grainery on the River Ivlis near the Village of Barovia. Corn cribs would be on the second floor of a barn for drying grain, doubling up to dry bales of hay, not primarily as a hay loft. PNGs for 2-3 styles of fencing and gates, water troughs, and some medieval horse drawn plows and rakes would be nice. Dog kennels!! Every farm would probably have it's own horse pasture or rink with a training post, and a dog kennel or run for dogs to run during the day. You know those giant mastiffs that the Barovian nobles are so fond of? Yeah, the farmers in the fertile valley near Barovia would be the only ones rich enough to be able to afford to raise those pups for the nobles. Somewhere out here would be a medieval rancher set up to raise mastiff puppies with an assortment of full grown mastiffs. Mongrel pups or runts would be sold off to neighboring farms at a discount. Roaming wolves would stay FAR away from them, and werewolf packs would likely attack them for any reason at all (if they could find a way in to the basin). I picture a LARGE farmers market and stockyards just inside the River Ivlis bridge of the Valley of Barovia. We know that Barovia is a trade center.. so there MUST be one. The bridge would offer protection if needed, and it would be the closest place farmers and ranchers could set up to provide commerce with the other villages and domains and still have the protection of being inside the gates. Hmm.. they might have a dirt race track there for showing off horses going up for sale. Make that very probably, The Vistani/Romani are famous for defending their mountain horses at the drop of a hat. This would be the main place of commerce for farmers goods in Barovia. This is (the main area) where Vistani Caravans would import and export farm goods in to and out of Barovia.
20) There would absolutely be homestead (small) sized farms and ranches carved out up in mountain valleys or even on mountain sides facing south. In fact, a south facing mountain side might get enough sunlight to raise delicate crops, spices and herbs, whereas most of Barovia can't, due to the mists blocking the sunlight. Also, a couple of mountain pastures with matching rocks / trees bordering them would be nice. Honestly though, if you pass out some rock and tree assets that match the ones you already use, anybody could throw together their own mountain pastures, or even their own valley pastures. Rows of crops are hard to find though! You could easily have scenarios of wolves/werewolves hunting the party in a cornfield.. but there are no Barovian cornfield battlemaps. ACTUALLY, I don't think I have any battlemap sized crop assets, and I probably have the largest collection of map assets around. You could probably sell these farming assets/maps on DriveThruRPG and DMsGuild as well, I've never seen them anywhere. ..OR you might ask Forgotten Adventures or Tom Cartos to throw some together, whatever seems clever. :) I've been asked specifically to try to get Yaedrag (barbarian-esque village in the mountains that Dragna wrote up) made up.
21) Jenny Greenteeth's Hut.. perhaps a grove of her untainted trees from the Quivering Forest? (Also the Glumpen Swamp and Vanishing Hills, various locations within these.) I picture the Quivering Forest loaded with fruit and nut trees and songbirds fighting for real estate (the text mentions angry squirrels).. surrounded by classic Svalitch Woods half-dead spooky trees. ;) I recall seeing a couple of versions that roughly followed the description given in DDAL04, but they're just a hut, not the whole barrow surrounding her hut as described. Additionally, many artists have upscaled her hut to be a small trading post, and put it on wooden poles, swamp style (never seen a battlemap of it, though). Lots of room for creative renditions there. :)
22) Another thing that I haven't seen ANYBODY making is small abbeys. The hills and mountains of Barovia are said to be littered with small abbeys. ..some of them abandoned, some not.
23) Abandoned mansions and manors. Strahd massacred the noble families of Barovia for their involvement in his father's murder. There is one legend of a nobleman possessed by a demon that Strahd left alive, as a curse 'worse than death'. At any rate, there ought to be a handful of abandoned / haunted mansions and manors dotting the Barovian countryside for the party to stumble in to (or check out due to a hook dropped by an informative villager).
24) There are currently NO mines in the CoS version of Barovia.. bizarre for a mountain country. It would suit that some of those decimated noble families ran some mines that have since been abandoned. Of course, it wouldn't do to host your standard monsters in a Barovian mine. I'm thinking Lair of the White Worm. Something more horrifying than dungeoneering.
25) It's been mentioned that instead of murdering the losers from the werewolf trials, they might be shipped off to be slaves in a mine, or to a plantation in the swamp. The plantation would be stick construction, as you would expect in a swamp, they would collect tubers and reeds that grow in the swamp, not traditional plantation type crops.
26) The various Barovian villages NOT included on Schleys map of (Central) Barovia usually have a town sized map plotted out and published somewhere, but no really decent overview maps or battlemap sized maps of them exist. (This need might easily be filled by a couple of handfuls of generic Barovian village buildings, field-stone and dirt street assets, and sundry village constructions.
27) Besides the Gates of Barovia, there are supposed to be watch-towers dotting the landscape as well. An operational watchtower and a couple of partially ruined ones would be awesome.
Assets nobody has made like the Dark Carnival and lake/river encounters and the Mad Mages various lair options would be the most needed. I simply don't understand why EVERY CoS map developer doesn't provide matching roads, forests, rivers and generic shops with matching Barovian assets. The maps I mentioned which you could make money selling on DriveThruRPG and DMsGuild (to me) would just be silly NOT to make. ...Van Richtens magic shop is requested a LOT. When the party first enters Barovia, I can picture them being chased in to a fortified farm by a pack of dire wolves / werewolves at dusk (perhaps the first couple of farms won't unbarricade their doors). I'm sure you can see the utility of the rest. Will everybody need a Roc nest on a cliff above the forest? No. Will DMs derail their campaign for a minute just for the opportunity to make the party loot a Roc nest? Yes. :
Finally, I would note that since I wrote this list, a few cartographers have added some of the above locations to their Library, but the vast majority of these are as of yet, untouched. :)

2023.06.03 09:22 riggs195 Anon's Pacific NorthWest Encounters
So, I’m writing this on my phone because I figured I should share my experiences. I’ve shared one already but I figured I should share more as I have had quite the run-ins with some odd things in the woods of the Pacific Northwest.
I live in Oregon, but I do tend to travel on my off time in the wilderness, despite my run ins I love the forest, nature, and all I just tend to be much more careful now.
This first story takes place in my home state. I have a buddy who is a park ranger and he shared me a story of his own. He works at Crater Lake National Park and was patrolling one of the trails that was reported by hikers who said they heard a bear in the area. He went out with a tranquilizer to move the bear out of an area that was close to a campground. He was walking as usual when he felt eyes on him…he began to hear movement in the woods, and he shouted out “anybody out there?”
No response.
He got his tranquilizer ready and proceeded toward the noise. But as he approached, he heard another noise behind him.
Now he was thinking, “Oh no there’s more than one out here.”
Not sure what to do he prepared for the worst but then to his relief it was two deer. He sighed in relief thanking God that he wasn’t going to be mauled that day. But suddenly he noticed blood on one of the deer’s antlers and next to it behind the bushes it came out of was the carcass of a black bear. The two deer just stared at him and returned to feasting on the bear. He wasn’t sure what to do, tranquilize them or risk being a victim? He decided it was best to take the shot and hit both. They didn’t even budge and just walked off into the forest.
He reported the dead carcass of the bear and just had a team remove the remains. Still gives him the Chills thinking back to that day.
The next story was when I went on a fishing trip with a friend in Washington.
We had set out to fish along this river that was calm that day.
We caught a few fish and even some crawdads. I love seafood so I wanted us to stay out longer to catch a few more fish. My friend ended up taking a nap while I continued to fish. All was well but I suddenly noticed something in the distance, something dark moving along the river. I thought it was some sort of log that was stuck and got free and was floating along the river, but its movements didn’t appear normal. It would move back and forth getting closer and closer. I began to get nervous; I can’t really explain why it just felt like I needed to get away from whatever this thing was.
I turned to my friend who was still asleep and heard a splash.
I looked back and the thing was just gone. I looked around wondering where it went, and I saw it. Perched on top of a tree, I thought it was a cougar, I grabbed my binoculars for a closer look, and it was crouched but was tall, lanky and had milky white eyes but covered in black feathers and wearing some sort of animal pelt. I felt a sudden sense of dread and fear I never felt before. I looked back to my friend to wake him but before I could I heard another splash and saw it was back in the water now headed to the boat. I said “F this “and then turned on the motor and hauled ass out of there. My friend woke up yelling at me and asked, “What the hell are you doing?” but I didn’t respond. When we got to the loading dock, I anchored the boat and told him to get in the truck and he protested about leaving the boat and I said, “We will get it later get in now!”
The car ride back I explained everything, and I saw how pale he got. He’s part Native American and explained to me that what I saw was a Skinwalker.
This next story takes place in the Canadian Wilderness. I was on a hunting trip with my buddy who has a cabin in Canada deep in the wilderness, off-grid type of deal. It was the beginning of winter so the snow wasn’t so bad to where you just couldn’t move. He had this goal to get a mountain lion. So, we headed out to a ridge where you could see out to a clearing where he said he saw this specific mountain lion every year. It always came to the same spot, maybe its home was nearby I don’t know. So, its nighttime, and we had a small fire going, I went to go take a piss when I noticed something or somethings… 3 humanoid figures were in the clearing, I quickly put the fire out, and my friend told me “Dude why did you do that?” I told him to shush, and we observed the 3 beings. The thing was this was way out in the middle of the wilderness, there’s absolutely no way that anybody else knew about this spot. Also, the 3 figures looked human, but I could tell they were much taller than normal and their arms, skinny and just moved unnaturally. They were circling something, but I couldn’t tell what exactly. Then one of the figures stopped and looked directly at us. We rushed to cover and didn’t really know what to do. So, we decided to not sleep that night and have our rifles ready just in case. The following morning, we went down to the clearing to see what those figures were circling and sure enough we saw footprints much larger than a normal human and the beheaded mountain lion that my friend wanted mounted in his cabin so badly but now not so much…
This story still comes across my mind to this day. Me and my buddy from our hiking club were going on a hike one day, it was a beautiful hike along a river, and we were looking for places to set up camp. We saw a campground with food and trash everywhere and at first, I was upset that someone just left this much of a mess here. But the longer I looked around the weirder things got…Their trash bag was still hoisted up on a tree branch but ripped open, the food was still there and if a bear or another animal got to the food, they would of ate everything. Also, there tents were still set up, but ripped as if from the inside, clothes still around and even 2 pairs of boots. The whole campground looked as if whoever was there was immediately in a rush to get out of there and just left all their belongings, not even bothering to take their shoes. The hairs on my neck stood up and both my buddy and I decided that we should call it a day and just hike back to the car. I reported the incident to the forest rangers, but they said they weren’t aware of anybody camping in the area and did not receive any reports from the area. Still freaks me out thinking what could have spooked these people so bad they left their tents, not even bothering to use the zipper and leaving their clothes and shoes behind.
This next one comes from a solo hike. I was doing a 3-day solo trip somewhere in Washington near the Canadian border. I was literally way out there no facilities or normal campground. I was just hiking along, and dusk was approaching, my campsite was already set but I just went for a stroll when I thought I heard a child’s voice calling for help. I thought it was my imagination, but I heard it again. I began to follow it and then I saw the child. He looked dirty; clothes still intact but his back was facing me. I called out to this kid, and he turned around but before he could speak, he was pulled by someone or something down on the other side of this hill. Then I heard a loud crash as if a metal down shut. I ran to where I saw the kid and saw nothing but the same clothes, he was wearing neatly folded and his shoes right next to them. After a few minutes to no avail, I made my way back to the campsite gathered all my things and headed back. I went to the forest ranger station and told them about what I saw. Never found out if they found that kid or not.
Now this story comes from my close friend in Oregon, but this happened in Washington. So, I was hanging out with my friend who has pretty much grew up in the outdoors all his life and I asked him what his most creepy experience in the woods was. He told me he didn’t have a lot of experiences like that aside from hearing weird things at night when he went camping. But, this one time he was out hiking with his dog, they usually are a pair for hiking with friends but this time he was out hiking with just his dog in the deep woods of Washington on a trail that had very little traffic, like you wouldn’t expect to run into anybody. So, his dog is off leash, roaming a little in front of him and as they come to a corner the dog just stopped and his hair stood on the back of his neck, did a single bark moved up one step and then just ran behind my friend, not behind his legs but down the trail behind my friend, about 25 yards behind him. My friend pulled out his firearm and aimed forward, considering this was an area where black bears are he thought maybe his dog saw a bear but after a few minutes he didn’t find anything, no animals, nothing. His dog refused to go near him even after he kept calling for his dog. He eventually left the trail with his dog and got back home in one piece. But he said he never saw his dog act like that, his dog and he have hiked plenty, and his dog has been spooked before, but he never acted that way and he would always come back to my friend even when spooked.
This last story I have for now occurred when I was hunting with my buddy in Washington. The area still had trees but was on the dryer side with us being closer to the desert.
We had a deer blind set up near a clearing and scanned the area for some deer when we noticed a big elk with a couple of doe. They were grazing and we just watched since we didn’t want this deer.
What was odd though was the weather began to get rainy and fog rolled in as evening was approaching. We noticed that the elk began to showcase defensive behavior, going back and forth making grunting noises and huffing as it began to set up a defensive area around the doe who were now cowering in a small area. Kind of like “Back up these are mine” This elk was staring at the tree line, and we thought, “oh shit maybe it’s a bear”. But to our surprise it wasn’t, it was another elk. We got a little excited thinking we were about to see these two elk go at it to see who gets to take the herd of doe home, but I stopped once I put it together. Why did the doe seem so afraid then?
Then I saw another elk and another and another all just staring at the protective elk.
But then to our shock all the elks began to stand. On two legs.
Now sometimes deer will do this as a protective or displaying behavior of superiority, but these elk were not.
The protective elk began to show more aggression attempting to scare them off.
My friend whispered to me. “What the hell is this, I’ve never seen this before in my life.”
My friend has been hunting for over 15 years from Alaska all the way to Colorado and parts in the East coast. A seasoned man who didn’t scare easily but I could tell this freaked him out.
The group of bipedal elk just stood there and then they all bolted towards the Elk and the elk charged them at the same time. Managing to impale two of the elks but he was outnumbered, and the elks didn’t use their antlers but began to bite the elk with what looked like jagged sharp fangs.
It was horrible. They then they circled the elk and just looked up to the moon and made these god-awful gurgling noises
It looked like some sort of F’d up ritual.
We decided that we should leave and began to grab our things to leave. I’m positive that we were too far for anyone to hear but I sweat as soon as we moved one of the deer stopped and looked right at us.
And that’s when we nopped out of there, we ran all the way to the truck hoping we didn’t run into those elks or whatever the hell those things were. I have seen deer display hostile behavior but never like that.
We were rushing to throw our stuff and sped out onto the dirt road. We got about 1/4 a mile away when we noticed a giant log blocking our path that wasn’t there before.
My friend said: “dammit we have to move it”
Luckily, we had a chainsaw in the back, and he cut some of the log away so we could move it. But God those logs were heavy, when we got to the last of the log my friend said, “help me move it!” I joined in, and we both lifted the last of the log out of the way out we noticed something on the road. It was one of those deer. Just standing looking at us. We backed up towards the truck my friend not even caring to grab the chainsaw and I swear it opened its mouth and said “hhe hhe-hel-help me moo-move iiiit”
It was distorted but sounded exactly like my friend.
We just ran to the truck from there and we hit the gas and this deer just ran towards the truck and hopped on the front and then the top of the truck and I’m just shitting bricks at this point and attempt to grab the shotgun from under the seat when my friend says “hang on” and just hits the brakes hard and this deer just goes flying off the truck and he quickly speeds around it .
We stayed at a hotel after driving 2 hours straight back to civilization.
Honestly, I believe deer just have some messed up ways, but I really don’t know what they were but I’m positive they weren’t deer, I don’t know what they were.
Part 2
I figured I’d mention this since I didn’t add it to my previous post.
These experiences I had forever changed my perspective on the woods and I questioned whether I should ever step foot in the woods again. I don’t know why I attract these experiences but part of it motivates me to keep going to share what I see.
This other story was a time I went out with a friend to explore. We were in the backcountry just exploring and I suddenly saw this weird structure. My friend decided we should check it out and we saw this stone-like structure covered in moss and it must have been there for decades. What was weird though it had this rectangular structure that had a door, the door was perfectly preserved as if someone just installed it. No rust on the door handle or any weather damage, it’s like it came fresh out of the store.
I went to get a closer look and I was about to try to open the door when my internal gut feeling was screaming to me that something was wrong and we should not be here, and extreme sense of fear flooded my entire being and my hair on the back of my neck stood up.
My friend told me “What’s wrong?”
I told him “Maybe we should just go”
And he said “we can’t just leave now let’s at least see what’s inside”
Just as I fought my fear off and went for the handle the door began to creak open and I felt something was just VERY wrong, and I think my friend just instinctively knew we had to run, and we just got the hell out of dodge.
We returned with more people and armed to the teeth to try the door again.
But we couldn’t find the structure anywhere despite me marking this area on my map before we even attempted the door.
I always wondered what would have happened had I opened that door….
This next one I was camping with my old roommate, and we were enjoying the night and headed to bed soon after our fire was put out.
Around 3 am I had to piss so I went to the tree at the edge of our campsite
I heard movement after I finished and thought it was my friend having to do the same as me. A few feet away I gave him the okay hand sign and he gave it back
But the way his fingers moved just looked …wrong
I thought maybe I was just tired and headed back to my tent.
The following morning, we made breakfast and I mentioned to him how I drank too much the night before and don’t like having to piss at night but at least I wasn’t the only one who had to go.
My friend looked confused by that last part and said “what do you mean only one? “
I told him: “you don’t remember? We went to pee at the same time.” Then I showed him the okay gesture that I gave him last night to jog his memory and he just told me: “dude I didn’t get up at all last night…”
A chill ran up my spine and I just played it off that I was dreaming.
I don’t know who or what that was last night, we never saw anybody out there and I checked around the campsite after breakfast for footprints, saw mine but nobody’s where I thought I saw my friend the night before.
This next one is like the previous one, but I was camping with my girlfriend at the time. We had a great night doing you know couple of things and then in the middle of the night I had to piss. Did my business at a nearby tree, and then I heard my girlfriend calling my name, in the woods. I figured she had to go to and just wanted to have some privacy. Maybe she needed toilet paper and forgot, as I went to the tent to grab a roll, I heard her call my name again then said help me.
I thought about going over to her but went to grab the roll anyway because I didn’t want to go out there then she tells me she needs the toilet paper. As I opened the tent, I just stood there surprised, my girlfriend was sound asleep still. So, who was calling my name?... I heard my name again but louder and my girlfriend's voice saying “COME HERE NOW”
I just decided to go in the tent, and just laid there silent, not sure what to do. I didn’t hear anything for the rest of the night and passed out after the surge of adrenaline just put me out.
I didn’t tell my girlfriend about it, and just told her we had to cut the trip short because I forgot I have a paper to write.
This Last one happened in 2019. I took a drive on a forest road about 45 mins in. Parked near this trailhead and took off to the trail.
I was admiring the flora and fauna and just going on a normal hike when I noticed my vision completely changed as if I was looking through prescription glasses that weren’t mine. The vegetation changed and it was daylight when I was hiking but now it was dark as if sunset just passed.
This happens almost instantly. It was like I was in a completely new environment.
I then felt something graze my shoulder, it was a hairy arm, like the one you’d see from an ape or Bigfoot, and it was about to grab me, but I managed to take a step back, and I just see the hand grab where my neck would have been. I felt this sudden sense of dread and just began to backpedal and after a couple of steps, my vision went back to normal. The sunlight returned as well as the flora and fauna. I just saw a fuzzy-like outline in a circular shape in front of me from where I just stepped out of, and it eventually disappeared the more steps back I took.
I just stood there completely shocked about what just happened and came to my senses as my internal red flags were going off and I just turned around and ran to my truck and got out of the area. I never had this happen to me before and it thankfully hasn’t happened since. Since this happened, I have never gone hiking alone again.
To end this off, I just want to add that I enjoy the woods and nature it is full of beauty and wonder. But there are things out there…things even the natives knew to stay away from. There are things out there, that don’t care about you, or that you have families, or loved ones. I still go out to the woods, but after that last experience, it took me a long time to get the courage to go out there again. I never go out for solo hikes anymore, and if I can’t go with someone, I always take my dog. Thanks for hearing my stories and I’ll be sure to share any future experiences I have.

2023.06.03 08:43 gwapachy Am I the Asshole?
Mag am I the asshole ta bi kai mas ma gets pa ninyu ang culture nato. Taas2x ni e explain so bear with me lang.
Going to be graduating by the end of the month and my closest and supportive best friend booked a ticket in advance to come see me graduate college. I was really looking forward to seeing her since most of my barkada resides in Davao and I haven't seen them in forever. She as well asked to stay over my place to save cost sa accomodation which I really didn't mind at all and of consulted my BF who I live with and he was fine with it too, he was only concerned for her due our 30kg dog thats about her height that lives inside our home.
Since I'm migrating soon pud, she somewhat convinced the whole group (3 people) to come to Cebu to see my graduate and hang out with me before I leave the country indefinitely. She was supposed to surprise me with them in the airport when I was only expecting her, yet caught her using "plurals" (Kami, namo, etc.) When talking about the upcoming trip and she admitted na she extended the 3 day stay to a full week with our closest friends. I was really excited and grateful for the thought of it yet was concerned about the costs sa ilang stay. I recently quit my job and bf cannot work, we are living on his emergency funds till we are able to get a clear on the papers abroad so we are trying to be frugal in a way where we are still able to live comfortably. Of course I had to run this pass my bf and he was happy to extend the invite to my friends and was just worried bout how we were going to fit them in our 1 spare bedroom (yes he is awesome lol)
By yesterday grabi ko anxiety while talking to her, this was a HUGE NEWS FOR ME. Wala jud sa ako plan to gasto for laag yet it made sense nlng pud kai it is a milestone for me too and may not see them again. I was anxious further talking bout the trip kai it seems like na pugos niya amo other friend na walai funds og ga duha2x og ari, and she specifically instructed me to not mention anything about the costs sa among tentative itinerary (laag) to my other friend kai for sure mu back out daw kuno. I really appreciate the gesture and I'm down to spend time with them yet I do not want to cover any extra expenses that may arise in case they fall short. I told her this and she took it the wrong way, She said "We’re going there not expecting for u to spend money on us", "We're working we can spend for ourselves", "We can afford this trip" mura siyag na lain like I'm belittling her ability to pay. I've been bag packing for 2 years and I know how tiny expenses like entrance fees can accumulate greatly especially in a span of a week, I was really deeply concerned kai she drop the figure of 10k to cover them 3 for 5 days of in Cebu so I just wanted to make sure she understands na mahal ang Cebu labaw na if gnahan sila mu laag2x, 10k is not enough for 3 pax in 5 days. So I made her an planed itinerary sa few places she mentioned and inserted things that we cannot miss too and its costing via spreadsheet down to details sa transport and expenses sa laag (wala pa labot ang food) para lang naa siya idea pila jud dapat nila e set aside (monetarily prepare) for the trip, this way it will give them a full month to save and re-evaluate kung mu dayun sila og tour2x or omit some to cut costs and be on an agreement to what is attainable.
Today, she surprisingly adds na naa daw lain guy na mu kuyog sa trip which she describes as "Uyab sa mama sa uyab ni (friend #2) hahaha nag laag lang ug Philippines na kedad ra nato" I was really shocked and reactive to this. I told her this was not cool and I was not comfortable with this. She added "He’ll pay for himself and actually help pay for ours too" and will be booking his own accommodation so I don't need to worry daw. Yet I am very worried, I don't know this guy and why do you need someone else to pay for your trip? So I think iyang perspective is if Kung daghan mi mas barato which is really not the case. Especially since I proposed to rent out a 5 seater car (she wanted to go to busay mountain tour) and upgrading that to a 7 seater will costs more to chip in. I really had a violent reaction to this and we argued over chat she ended up with:
"We’re going there only to see you and additional na na if we could spend time and enjoy going to places with u while ur here and one person is happy to cover the most cost for all of us in the trip, which will help them (friend 2 and friend 3) and of course will help u too kay problematic na kaayo ka sa spending If dili sad ka gusto we can still plan things out since we paman sad mi dira. If di ka, edi dili ka. Ana lang. ikaw man amo adtuan so we’ll respect what u want. Adto rami for ur grad and that’s it."
Feel nko na iyang idea for a trip to Cebu is to tambay along as long as naai ma tulgan ok na and e happy go lucky ra "or make it as it goes along the way" we'll be fine. Yet I am concerned to house 3 of them without income for any upcoming additional costs na she may not see comming.
I feel bad yet frankly I don't know how to make this okay for me, na suko pud siya, wala na siya ni reply I just responded with: To put it simpler, we simply cannot afford this right now especially when we are looking to move to a country that's very expensive we are both jobless and trying to stick to a budget. If the main reason why you're inviting a +1 is to help with your side of the expenses yet it will make ours more, it would be best to reconsider your trip. This is quite a pressure on our side too and I really hope you see that I am very concerned about the additional expenses that may occur that I would need to cover in case if your budget falls short. It's nothing against you, it's just being rational and practical.
Sooo, kababayan... AITA?

- Weight: 1-¼ oz
Pros
- Affordable
- High Velocity
- Non-toxic
- Easy to find
Cons
- Some prefer premium options
Why We Chose It
When we think of the best shotgun shells for duck hunting, naturally, we look at Winchester. Winchester has provided generations of hunters with reliable, high-quality rounds, and the Winchester Drylok Super Steel 12 gauge shells definitely pay homage to this legacy.
But the name alone doesn’t make this shotshell the best for duck hunting. Waterfowl hunters need ammo that performs well in adverse weather conditions, has a tight pattern, high velocity, and are affordable and easy to find.
As lead shot becomes more regulated, having a good steel shot round is essential to legally blindsiding mallards and wood ducks every time you pop out of the duck blind. As duck hunters are often hunting from the water or even a boat, the double-seal wad system means your powder is always dry and ready to go whenever you squeeze the trigger.
The 1,400 fps muzzle velocity and 1 ¼ ounce payload are more than enough to fell ducks up to 40 yards away with relative ease.
The Winchester Drylok is a tried-and-true design that won’t let you down in the field. Although some duck hunters prefer more exotic loads, you can’t go wrong loading your favorite duck gun with 3" magnum Winchester Drylock ammo!
Hevi-Shot 12 ga HEVI XII 3" #4 1-1/8 oz
Specs
- Muzzle Velocity: 1,500 fps
- Projectile: Tungsten Alloy shot
- Weight: 1 1/8 oz.
Pros
- Dense payload
- Tungsten shot
- High velocity
- Excellent grouping
Cons
Why We Chose It
Ask any modern duck hunter which shotgun shells are best for honker hunting, and you’ll surely get plenty of recommendations for the HEVI-XII. This exquisitely designed shotgun shell includes tungsten shot that is denser than steel and safer than lead (which is probably illegal where you live for duck hunting anyway).
Tungsten shot is denser than bismuth, steel, and lead. Which means the HEVI-XII payload gives you a lot more bang for your buck. This means that HEVI XII shot has a density of 12 g/cc (grams per cubic centimeter) which is around 53% more dense than steel shot.
This translates to more pellets on target, deeper penetration, and more trips out into the lake for your hunting dog to retrieve all the ducks you’ve nailed.
Although HEVI-XII can sometimes be hard to find, most duck hunters will tell you that it’s worth the price of admission as this shotshell simply works every time!
Federal Black Cloud TSS 3" 20 ga #3 & #9 1 oz
Specs
- Muzzle Velocity: 1,350 fps
- Projectile: Tungsten/Steel
- Weight: 1 oz.
Pros
- High quality
- Non-toxic tungsten and steel shot
- Higher Density
- Tight pattern through most chokes
Cons
- Only available seasonally
Why We Chose It
Although we typically recommend a 12 gauge shotgun for duck hunting, Federal Premium Black Cloud TSS ammo is one low-recoil option we will make an exception for.
Combining #3 and #9 shot in one hull, the Black Cloud TSS (Tungsten Super Shot) maintain their velocity farther, penetrate deeper and hit harder than any waterfowl payload has before.
The secret to the lethality of the Black Cloud TSS lies in the Flitecontrol Flex wad, which opens from the rear instead of the front like traditional wads. The result is incredibly dense and repeatable shot patterns that have an effective range past 50 yards through all standard waterfowl chokes.
Comprised of 60% heavyweight TSS pellets and 40% Flitestopper Steel shot, the Black Cloud TSS shotshell unleashes a swarm of shot that leaves no chance of escape for any drake that finds itself in your sights.
Although Federal Black Cloud TSS is only available seasonally, it is well worth the price of admission if you are serious about duck hunting.
Kent Fasteel 2.0 Precision Steel 12ga 3-1/2" #4 1-3/8 oz
Specs
- Muzzle Velocity: 1,550 fps
- Projectile: Zinc-plated steel
- Weight: 1 3/8 oz.
Pros
- Safe in fixed choke barrels
- Non-toxic
- Tighter grouping at longer distances (depending on choke, of course)
- High-quality
- Versatile
Cons
Why We Chose It
If you’re serious about shotgun hunting, then you’re probably well aware that Kent makes phenomenal shells for all sorts of activities. With multiple loads for turkey, goose, upland game, and deer hunting, Kent truly has a shell for all seasons.
But if you’re looking to whack some waterfowl out of the sky quickly and efficiently, then Kent Fasteel 2.0 is what you need to load in your duck gun.
Development of the Fasteel began around the wad, which has proven time and time again that it can produce boringly repetitive shot patterns in both semi-autos and in cold temperatures. A tight pattern is essential for putting down descending mallards ethically and quickly.
Kent Fasteel 2.0 was developed with duck hunting in mind, as the shot is zinc-plated while the head is nickel-plated. This adds a level of corrosion resistance to your ammo that ensures proper feeding and function in even the worst conditions.
Although Kent ammo is sometimes hard to find and will blast a few holes in your wallet, the incredibly consistent performance keeps dedicated duck hunters coming back time and again to load their shotguns with Kent Fasteel 2.0.
Remington Nitro Steel 12 ga 3" #4 1-3/8 oz
Specs
- Muzzle Velocity: 1,300 fps
- Projectile: Steel
- Weight: 1 ⅜ oz.
Pros
- Affordable
- Lead-free
- Consistent performance
Cons
- Some premium loads perform better
Why We Chose It
If you’re looking for a low-cost, no-frills round that will bring home the duck, then you can’t go wrong with Big Green.
Remington’s Nitro Steel line of duck hunting ammo is nothing special to write home about. However, when you need a round that simply works then Nitro Steel will get the job done.
Although it lacks a lot of the special features offered by other premium loads, Remington Nitro Steel ammo is consistent and deadly in the right hands. However, we’d recommend that you take it out and test it before duck season this year, just to evaluate how it patterns in your shotgun.
Browning Wicked Blend 12 ga 3" #2 and #4 1-1/4 oz
Specs
- Muzzle Velocity: 1,450 fps
- Projectile: Steel & Bismuth
- Weight: 1 1/4oz
Pros
- Steel and Bismuth shot blend
- High velocity
- Works well with most chokes
Cons
Why We Chose It
We’ve got to hand it to the marketing department at Browning for providing an absolutely amazing name for such an excellent duck-hunting shotgun shell.
The Wicked Blend is comprised of 70% zinc-plated steel and 30% copper-plated bismuth pellets. Combining the denser bismuth with plated steel means you’ll get a good mixture of dense payload at an affordable price.
On top of those benefits, the proprietary Wicked Wad increases pattern density for those long downrange shots. We found this load to be extremely versatile, working well for both duck and goose hunting.
Although this ammo might be a little hard to find, if you can get it you won’t be disappointed when you unload on a flock of descending waterfowl.

2023.06.03 08:36 GodGuruSelfONE Are you dating a narcissist? I think I am... and we're engaged...
It turns out spiritual women can be narcissists, too!
It Will Always Be Your Fault
"Because a narcissist is never wrong… you must understand that you will always be blamed for anything and everything. Whether you are a so-called friend or lover, you may be blamed for their car accident even though you were in the passenger seat at the time."
Just yesterday she spilled something all over the car and was very frustrated about it but she then blamed me because at the time we weren't on good terms and it 'wouldnt have had happened if we werent on bad terms"...
"They may berate you because it's raining today and you forgot to tell them to bring an umbrella. A malignant narcissist will get off by making you feel bad and destroying your self-esteem. Saying nasty things to you out of the blue or discarding you is par for the course."
I'm often on the receiving end of criticism, from the clothes I wear to my physical appearance.
"If you make a mistake, they will magnify it and use it as evidence that you are incompetent. This is their way of putting you down and making you feel bad about yourself."
Over-bearing remarks are a trademark for her, often just tossing insults out at me such as saying I'm stupid, dumb, an idiot, etc.
"Narcissists love to give their partners the silent treatment. This is their way of making you feel powerless and frustrated.
They know that this will cause you to reach out to them, which will give them a sense of control and satisfaction. The silent treatment can last for hours, days, or even weeks. It is a very painful experience that can leave you feeling confused, anxious, and isolated."
After arguments shes mad for days to weeks and practices the silent treatment but is sure its me that doesnt love her... even with all those dramatics...
"If you are insecure about your body, a narcissist will make fat jokes, skinny jokes, or comments about how unattractive you are."
My looks, being too skinny, "I want a real man!" Thankfully I've been working on myself more, realizing that loving myself is the only thing that matters + bringing back some traits I once had when I gave less fucks haha
Exaggerating Little Things
"Not only do narcissists have a grand sense of self, they can also make a mountain out of a molehill when it comes to an issue that would not be a problem to a healthy individual."
"Narcissistic individuals will often resort to loud, cringe-worthy verbal attacks over these little things. You can go from having a nice conversation with such a person to suddenly being told they hate you over the difference of opinion… as if they flipped a switch."
No moment is safe, even when away at work I can almost expect a text of "Why did you do this!! You left a spatula on the sink!! Now dog chewed it, you're a mess!!!!"
Was it a mistake? Yes. If she did this, would I care even one iota? No. In the grand scheme of life, I'd choose peace.
"They may talk about their ex-lover, saying how great that relationship was and how they only settled for you."
While she stopped doing this within the last year, it definitely has traumatized me a bit.
"Even if you had a long day or are sick, a narcissist may start a fight while you are trying to sleep. They may do something as drastic as trying to get you out of bed. To make matters worse, a narcissist has no problems keeping you up all night arguing… often over something very trite."
I can't tell you the number of times shes yelled at the top of her lungs knowing I was asleep because she was annoyed with me.
She would also get angry if I fell asleep during a movie, totally irate as if I was harming her in some way. I think its cute when she dozes off...
"Another one of the weird things narcissists do involves screaming with rage about the most insignificant issue for hours on end… but anything you say against them will be blown out of proportion."
"Even if you speak in a calm voice, the very fact that you are disagreeing with them gives them the all the incentive they need to say that you are starting an argument."
The petty arguments we've had are embarassing and 99% of them are started on her end. Something always sets her off. The number of triggers she has is alarming.
"Warning: according to Psychology Today, a Narcissist can be very ill-tempered behind closed doors; yet, will show their charismatic side in public."
People really view her as a saint. They have no idea!!!
Projecting Their Worst Qualities
"Since narcissists love to blame others for everything, they will often go so far as to project their worst abilities towards you."
"If your narcissist is an alcoholic, YOU may get criticized for having one drink at a party."
In my case - its about phone usage. She's always on her phone but the moment I'm on mine and shss not on hers, it's an issue.
She's also mentioned believing others in the past have just been jealous of her... another narc trait.
Now - here I Am - 6 years into a relationship and engaged. I'm currently getting a silent treatment, its Day 5. On Day 1, after another explosive episode where everything was fine until she randomly brought up something from 3 years ago in anger as if it happened today. I lost my cool after she told me "I already know who I want to be with" and we got into an ugly yelling match.
It's insane because I loved myself going into this relationship and we had a divine union at the beginning, a fairy-tale-like coming together which blew both of our minds.
We share most of the same friends and have built a tribe of spiritually-minded people we consider family and they all have no idea...
I know I need to leave but I feel empty and I do love her regardless as I view her childhood trauma leading to these actions...
I've never been in this position before and I guess I just need people to talk to about this so I was hoping to have that here, thank you for reading.
