Defense attorneys completed their closing arguments, labeling the Arvizo family liars and con artists trying to pull “the biggest con of their careers”.
"They are trying to take advantage of Michael Jackson," said impassioned defense attorney Thomas Mesereau. "They are trying to profit from Michael Jackson. They think they have pulled it off. They are just waiting for one thing - your verdict."
"What they are trying to do to Michael Jackson is so harmful, so brutal, so devastating if you have any reasonable doubt about the double-talk, the lies, its over. You must acquit Michael Jackson," he told the 12 jurors.
Mesereau spoke about the American system of justice and said, "We have the best system in the world and ladies and gentlemen I'm begging you to honor the system. You must acquit him."
He accused prosecutors of trying to "dirty up Michael" because they lack the evidence to prove their case.
"The witnesses are preposterous, the perjury is everywhere," Mesereau declared. "None of it works. The only thing they've had is to throw dirt all over the place and hope it sticks."
He added: "If you look in your hearts do you believe Michael Jackson is evil in that way? Is it even possible? It really is not."
Mesereau then played excerpts from a video in which Jackson denies any sexual impropriety and said that he had “never been betrayed or deceived by children.”
The defense attorney conceded that Jackson had been lax with his money and had let the wrong people into his circle. But, he said, the singer was not the “monster” the prosecution were trying to depict and that he was not guilty of any crime.
Afterwards, prosecutor Ron Zonen delivered a brief rebuttal. He sought to answer the question of Jackson’s motivation for the crime asking, "Why would Mr. Jackson do it? Because he could This child was in love with him. This child would do anything he said."
Zonen reminded jurors of the past allegations made against Jackson saying that this was necessary in order to “see the total picture”. He claimed that Jackson was “in love” with his 1993 accuser and added that the current accuser is a “clone” of the boy in that case.
After both sides rested for the last time, Judge Rodney Melville ordered the eight women and four men on the jury to begin their deliberations. He gave them a 98-page book of instructions.
The Judge told Jackson that he could stay at Neverland during the proceedings but requested that the attorneys remain within 10 minutes of the courthouse in case the jurors had any questions.
These deliberations are the final stage of an ordeal that began 14 weeks ago. During this time the jury has heard testimony from over 130 witnesses.
A verdict was expected early next week.

2013 - Jackson v AEG Trial Day 22
No Jackson family member was at the courthouse.
Paul Gongaware
AEG cross
Putnam asked Gongaware if MJ was comfortable with all the show dates. "Yes, I went through all of the dates with him," Gongaware said. Bugzee, the tour manager, had a big calendar on the walls, Gongaware explained, saying they changed the dates of the shows four times. The jury was shown an email in which Gongaware worked with a staffer to create a calendar to show Jackson. He wanted colors changed. He wanted the calendar to be changed so that it reflected Jackson's show dates and off days differently. Gongaware email:
Figure it out so it looks like he's not working so much
As to the email, Putnam asked if he was trying to fool Michael:
"No, I was trying to make it clear, trying to get it just the way I wanted it," Gongaware responded.
After changing 4 show dates Gongaware said Michael was comfortable with it. He would do 8 shows in July, 10 in August, 9 in September. There would be no shows in October, November and December, resuming with 10 shows in January, 10 in February and three in March. No back-to-back shows. Gongaware said the O2 Arena had a previous commitment in Oct-Dec of 2009 and they could not have the concerts.

Putnam: "Was this a rigorous schedule?"
Gongaware: "No, not at all"
Gongaware recalled that on the HIStory tour they did 10-12 shows per month, from country to country, but this one would stay in London only. Gongaware said he wasn't concerned with Michael's age. "He seemed great to me," he said, and this was stationary show, didn't have to travel.
Gongaware:
The reason Michael wanted to delay the 1st show was he wanted more time to rehearse in the O2 Arena where the show would take place.
He said Michael and Kenny Ortega would decide the rehearsal schedule. Gongaware explained Michael didn't have to attend rehearsals, since it was not part of his deal. He said they never require an artist to rehearse. "I didn't have any expectation," Gongaware said regarding Michael rehearsing. He said he's never seen a requirement for a musicial artist to rehearse & that during the HIStory tour, Michael didn't rehearse but nailed it. "When it was game time, he would show up," Gongaware explained. For instance, Gongaware cited an outdoor concert in Bangkok in high heat, humidity.
As to the email Gongaware wrote about calling Michael lazy, he said he used unfortunate choices of words, Michael didn't like to rehearse.
Talking about the elements of the show, Gongaware described what they wanted to do for the opening of the show. He said Michael would be dressed up in a LED suit, like a television, flashing on him brief movie about things that happened in history. Michael would be lowered down onto the stage. He called the LED suit a "Moon man" suit, but Ortega called it "Light man." Putnam showed a presentation of how the LED suit idea would work. Footage is not on This Is It documentary because it was early stages of prep. Gongaware said the 1st idea was to make Michael float from the audience, but they couldn't make it work. So they decided to lower him down onto the stage. Gongaware said the big screen on the back of the stage was 3D capable. The audience would be given glasses when they entered the show. The 3D songs would be Thriller, Earth Song and Smooth Criminal. "He wanted to do biggest, best show ever, live show," Gongaware said
Putnam showed email chain from Ortega to Gongaware asking to make a deal with choreographer Travis Payne. Answer from Gongaware:
This is not AEG money, it's Michael's money so it takes a lot of time to get approvals
Defendants were trying to establish a pattern that all the money spent was actually Michael's money, not AEG's, just like with Dr. Murray
At one point Gongaware said he learned from Michael about a doctor named Murray. "He came to me and said he wanted his personal doctor on the tour". Gongaware said he suggested to Michael to get a licensed doctor in London who would know the lay of the land, in case of need. "This is the machine, we have to take care of the machine. I want Conrad," Gongaware said Michael responded. I think what he meant was his brain could create it but his body had to deliver the show every night

Putnam: "Were you surprised he wanted to take his doctor on tour?"
Gongaware: "No"
Putnam: "Why not?"
Gongaware: "He had doctors before"
Gongaware said other artists take doctors as well, so he was not the only one and it didn't surprise him. Gongaware said he's been on tour before where an artist had chiropractors, but couldn't remember being in one with a doctor
Putnam: "Did you worry Michael might have a health issue?"
Gongaware: "No"
Putnam: "Why not?"
Gongaware: "He seemed fine to me, had a physical and passed"
Gongaware said the suggestion for a London doctor was due to the cost; paying a doctor full time was much more expensive than hiring a local doctor. Gongaware said Dr. Murray treated Michael for about three years before 2009. He knew the doctor was from Las Vegas but said he was in LA. Gongaware said he then called Dr. Murray to work out a deal. Gongaware testified he didn't have Michael's direct phone number, would go through Michael Amir Williams, his personal assistant, to reach him. Gongaware called Murray on behalf of Michael saying the singer wanted to take him to London. "What do you want to be paid for that," Gongaware asked. Gongaware said he thought Dr. Murray was expecting his call and was aware of the desire to take him on tour. "He said he would need $5 million," Gongaware recalled. "He said he has 4 clinics to close, would lay off people, needs $5 million for that." Asked by Putnam if Murray's price was reasonable: "It was ridiculous," Gongaware said about the amount asked. "It was a lot of money for something like that and Michael could not afford it." Gongaware said he responded that it wasn't going to work" He said this was the first time he spoke with Dr. Murray. After that, Gongaware said he told Michael Amir and Randy Phillips what the doctor had asked. He also told Frank DiLeo. Gongaware said a lot of people who wanted to work for MJ asked for huge sums of money, thinking he had a lot.
Putnam: "Would you be doing this if Michael had not asked you?"
Gongaware: "No"
Putnam: "Did you contemplate bringing a doctor on tour?"
Gongaware: "I didn't think he needed one, we didn't have one in History, he was fine"
"He was Michael's doctor, Michael wanted him. That was it," Gongaware said.

Putnam:" Did you think about checking the doctor?"
Gongaware: "No"
Putnam: "Why not?"
Gongaware: "He was Michael's doctor"
" I'm not going to tell Michael Jackson who his doctor should be," Gongaware explained. "It wasn't my place to say who his doctor was going to be," Gongaware said. "It was his decision."
Gongaware said he doesn't think a doctor's financial situation has anything to do with being an ethical doctor. Gongaware said it never crossed his mind to either do a background check on Dr. Murray or to suggest to anyone to do it. "I just expect doctors to be ethical, the financial side of their lives shouldn't have an impact on their medical decision," Gongaware opined.
Gongaware said he never did a background check on anyone he hired and had he done one on Dr. Murray, it would've been out of the ordinary.
He also said he never considered performing background checks on Jackson's makeup artist, a choreographer who worked one-on-one with the singer or Kenny Ortega, the tour's director. "I didn't see the need for it," he said.
Dr. Finkelstein, a friend of Gongaware, said a doctor should charge $10,000 a month for the tour work. But Dr. Finkelstein would've done it for free, since he was on the Dangerous tour before and had a lot of fun
The second call about Dr. Murray came from Michael Amir Williams saying they were going to need to get a deal done for the doctor. Gongaware said he heard Michael in the car saying "offer 150, offer 150." Gongaware understood that to be $150k/month. Gongaware called Dr. Murray, said he was authorized to offer him $150k a month. He said Dr. Murray responded that he couldn't do it for that. Gongaware told him the offer came directly from the artist and Dr. Murray responded: "I'll take it" Gongaware said Michael approved the amount of compensation. "Michael told me offer 150," Gongaware recalled. "And that's what I did." Gongaware inquired from Dr. Murray how he would get a license in London and the doctor told him not to worry about it. They talked about Dr. Murray's request for a house in London, and the doctor said he would need a three bedroom house. Gongaware recalled Dr. Murray saying he would probably need an assistant and some equipment, but no details were given at this point. After the call, Gongaware said he let Michael Amir Williams know what the result was in a May 6th email: Done at 150k per month, per MJ. He needs about 10 days to wind down his practice then he will be full time
Asked why he had negotiated with Murray, the AEG executive replied that he was "instructed to by Michael Jackson." Gongaware said there was no other reason for him to deal with the doctor. Marvin Putnam asked Gongaware why he didn't tell Jackson he couldn't take Murray on tour with him."Because he could if he wanted," Gongaware said.
Gongaware said he passed Dr. Murray on to Timm Wooley, never had any other conversation with Dr. Murray about him possibly going to London.
Putnam: "Do you have any understanding as to whether a contract with Dr. Murray was executed?"
Gongaware: "One never was"
Putnam: "Did AEG pay Dr. Murray any kind of money?"
Gongaware: "No"
Gongaware said Michael was ultimately responsible for his own health:
"I think everyone is responsible for their own health and well being. He was a grown man with the capability to make decisions regarding his health and medical care"
Putnam showed Gongaware a frame from the This Is It film in which Jackson's manager, Frank Dileo, was sitting in on dancer auditions. Dancers auditions took place at the Nokia Theater on April 13, 14 & 15. Michael attended the last day and made the final decision, Gongaware said. He said Ortega wanted to film the audition to use fresh footage on michaeljacksonlive.com. The cost for crew to shoot the audition was very high, so Gongaware bought a couple of cameras and used his own crew to shoot the rehearsals. He said he wasn't sure what he would use the video for, but thought the website would be a good platform.
Gongaware said during the period at Center Staging, Michael was good, engaging, didn't think there were any health issues or was using drugs
Gongaware said the media in the UK was going wild with gossip about Michael Jackson. "They just lie about things." The Sun claimed Michael had skin cancer on his chest. "It was sport over in London," Gongaware said about stories on tabloids. Gongaware testified about emails in which UK press agents working on This Is It sent him tabloid reports on Michael's health. Gongaware said he urged the press agents not to respond. He wanted Jackson's performance to speak for itself & silence skeptics.
Gongaware on 5/27/09:
The Kid is healthy and rehearsing every day. He was still there at dance rehearsals at 9pm last night when I left. Our redemption will be when he does his shows, that makes all of this build up so damn sweet. We don't have to sell tickets, so we can just sit back and prove them wrong by just doing it.
Gongaware said he was not concerned
"If there was something going on, if he had cancer, we would've heard about it."
Michael Jackson rehearsal venues:
  • Mar 28- Center Staging
  • May 27- Forum June 23 - Staples Center
  • July 13 - O2 Arena
Putnam also asked Gongaware about an incident Karen Faye testified about, that she heard him yelling at Michael's assistant one day. The incident occurred while This Is It rehearsals were happening at The Forum in LA. Faye claimed she heard Gongaware yelling about Jackson being late to a rehearsal and told his assistant to get him there. "Never, never happened," Gongaware said, shaking his head.
Putnam went through a chain of emails about tabloid reports in the UK regarding Michael. In one, it said Michael had asked AEG to reduce the number of shows by half. Gongaware said that such a discussion never happened. Gongaware testified he woke up to one gossip headline pretty much every day. His idea was simply to ignore the tabloids. "An amazing show would be the answer", Gongaware said
Gongaware on 6/5/09 in response to Sunday Mirror Query:
"We can only make this work, of course, if MJ puts on the best show of his life. I'm here to tell you that be will. I have seen it for myself. Last night he ran 9 songs with full band, singers and dancers. Sang every one, he was amazing, captivating, riveting. And he's just getting started. Taking it one step further. When people realize that bulls**t the press has been, they will be in receptive mood for the truth Hey look. No skin cancer. He's just a good dad, loving raising his kids. His art and his craft are paramount. A gentle, loving man who does care about people
"The shows were going to be spectacular," Gongaware said. Putnam showed a clip of Michael in front of a green screen with 11 dancers, who would become 11,000. Gongaware said Michael was great at this point
Regarding email Phillips sent Gongaware directing to remove Michael's "skeletal" scenes Gongaware said he didn't take anything out of the movie.
Putnam: "Did you remove anything from the movie?"
Gongaware: "No"
Putnam showed a clip from This Is It with the making of "Thriller 3D" and Jackson wearing red jacket.
Putnam: "Did you try to alter in anyway how Mr. Jackson looked, appeared?"
Gongaware: "No"
Gongaware said he didn't remember any of the footage been removed because of how Michael looked. "We just let the footage speak for itself"
The mini-movie of "Earth Song" a bulldozer would come out from a ramp in center stage.
Putnam: "A real bulldozer?"
Gongaware: "I wish, it would've been cheaper, but it would have crushed our ramps"
Gongaware said they had to build the bulldozer like a prop. It would appear at the end of the song on stage. "I think the live audience would be just captivated by it," Gongaware said about the little girl running after the last plant on Earth song.
End of the show would be 3D animation. An airplane taxis up, door opens, Michael entered the plane. The airplane door closes, Michael would actually take an elevator down and out of the building, but the plane would take off over the audience
Gongaware said he didn't know if anyone was responsible for Michael's nourishment. Tour would be demanding and exhausting
Gongaware said he met Dr. Murray once at MJ's Carolwood house and ran into him at The Forum during rehearsal. There was a meeting scheduled to discuss Michael's nutrition with Randy Phillips, Kenny Ortega, Dr. Murray, Michael, Gongaware and DiLeo.
Putnam: "Do you recall anyone in that meeting ever telling Dr. Murray how he should be treating Michael?"
Gongaware: "No"
Gongaware said he didn't have any medical training and wasn't qualified to tell Conrad Murray how to treat Jackson
Gongaware said neither Dr. Murray nor Michael talked about the treatment he was receiving. The meeting was about nutrition & vitamin therapy. Gongaware said he had no idea Dr. Murray was giving Michael Propofol and first heard of the anesthetic after Michael died. Gongaware said Dr. Murray was really engaged in the meeting, seemed like a very intelligent guy and wanted to take care of Michael very much. This was the first time Gongaware met with Dr. Murray. He said there were no signs of Michael being poorly treated by the doctor. "Michael was engaged in the meeting, attentive, seemed happy we were having this meeting," Gongaware opined. "He's a doctor, he'd know better than anybody how to treat his patient," Gongaware said about Dr. Murray.
As to Gongaware's email saying AEG, not Michael, paid Dr Murray he said he was mistaken. "We wouldn't pay his salary, we'd advance Michael's money". Gongaware said he didn't remember writing/receiving the email, but never denied he did it.
As to Michael being habitually late, Gongaware said the singer worked on his own schedule, did things his way
Gongaware said his understanding was that Michael hired a trainer of his choice, Louis (Lou) Ferrigno: "I made the deal with him (Ferrigno). He was supposed to be paid a certain amount of money per session" He didn't elaborate on fee, how many times he worked with Michael. Putnam showed an email from Travis Payne, he suggested a massage chair to be put in Michael's dressing room.
As to Bugzee's email saying MJ needed cheeseburgers, brats and beers, Gongaware said Bugzee was joking, Bugzee cared very much for Michael. Gongaware testified he didn't recall having any concern about Michael's health/using painkillers as of Monday 6/15/09, 10 days prior to his death
Gongaware was asked about several emails that have been shown before, including messages related to MJ missing rehearsal on June 19, 2009. The executive was on the East Coast for a family wedding, but responded to one message questioning why Murray wasn't at rehearsal. Gongaware email:
Take the doctor with you. Why wasn't he there last night?
He then explained his thinking to the jury. Gongaware:
If his patient is having a problem and he's sick, and he's his only patient, it seemed like he should be there
Gongaware said on 6/19/09, he was out of town. "This is the day Michael had chills at rehearsal and was apparently sick," Gongaware recalled. "If the meeting was going to be about what happened that night, the doctor should be there," Gongaware said.
Gongaware said he believed Michael wanted to go on tour. He said he doesn't remember anyone talking about pulling the plug on the shows.
Putnam: "Did anyone tell you at this point that Michael needed a drug addiction specialist?"
Gongaware: "No"
Putnam: "Did anyone tell you they were concerned with the care Dr. Murray was giving to Michael?"
Gongaware: "No"
Gongaware said that on 6/20/09 he did not think Michael's health was deteriorating.
With last questions of the day, Putnam asked Gongaware if he was concerned about Jackson's well-being. He said "Yes"

I’ve finally worked up the guts to schedule my exam, I’ll be taking it online. I’ve only recently started passing the practice exams regularly and have been studying harder. I’m curious, for those who took the NASM exam, was the actual exam easier or harder than the practices? I’ve been seeing mixed things. I’m excited to get through the finish line so I can start shadowing and interning, I’m going to need as much help as I can get!

2023.06.03 12:32 bogas04 My journey with covid, GERD, LPR, Hiatal Hernia and H Pylori

I wanted to share my journey with covid, GERD, LPR, Hiatal Hernia and H Pylori
Hi all, just wanted to share my journey through a series of events and illnesses in hopes that this helps you and your doctor diagnose the root cause faster. tl;dr at bottom
I've never had GERD in my life ever before, nor was my lifestyle GERD inducing (vegan, high fiber, gap between dinner and sleep time). So when I started feeling GERD like symptoms post covid, I was confused about what exactly I was feeling.
Right after catching covid in Aug 2022 my throat and nostrils went super dry, it was as if I had no mucous left in me. And I started facing this weird throbbing/pulsating sensation in my left ear. These were very bizarre symptoms that I had never observed before.
My first guess was this is something to do with covid and maybe it'll clear out in a month or two. But no, it only got worse. Ear throbbing became more frequent and by now my throat started to burn to the point I would get tears in my eyes. I suspected it was due to talking a lot (too many meetings in the office) but it would still happen on weekends. I also observed this was more pronounced at night. 2 months passed and I thought I should get an appointment with an ENT.
My ENT diagnosed it as an allergic response, she felt my body was overreacting to covid. She gave me anti allergens and antacids, and some nasal sprays to get my mucous back. She said my eustachian tube might be blocked, which is why I was hearing this fluttering.
One month passed and it was as if i was cured, but there would still be some days where these symptoms would come back. 2 weeks after my dosage was complete, the issues came back. She checked again and told me it could be GERD, so avoid coffee and spicy/oily foods, and have a gap between dinner and bedtime. This time she gave a steroid for my ear problem.
Another month passed, all good, 2 weeks after my dosage the GERD symptoms came back. However my ear problem was fully resolved by now. The steroids did their job it seems.
This time she said it definitely is GERD and prescribed me PPI. She also said it could be H Pylori so you may consider an endoscopy if issues persist 4 weeks after taking PPIs. She also asked if was going through stress in life. I mean, who isn't. But it did coincide with tech layoffs back in Dec 2022, my company was impacted by that but I was safe. I thought maybe covid has increased stress levels coz usually I am pretty good with dealing with uncertainty. I thought maybe all of this is long covid as I could see news reports that covid patients end up also getting GERD.
Anyway, I took the PPIs and like clockwork, the GERD symptoms came back on the 6th week. I felt that we're not really solving the root cause but only trying to treat it symptomatically. I was also afraid that the longer I get GERD the higher the risk of cancer. This made me anxious.
I started eliminating ingredients from my diet, coffee, sugar, ketchup, sourdough bread, pineapple, fizzy drinks etc. I also started raising my bed by putting an extra pillow underneath my mattress. These made slight changes, but I'd get relief only for a day or two. I also started taking antacids on top of PPI whenever I needed instant relief. Then I removed tomatoes from my diet and I went through one week without needing any PPI or antacid. Then I tried to have a very small portion of tomato in my oats (22g tomato) and GERD was back.
I met the ENT doctor and asked for a consultation with a Gastroenterologist as well. ENT said my tonsils are enlarged and it seems there's still some allergic response, while gastro said this is typical GERD, take PPIs for another month and schedule an endoscopy. It could also be a hernia, so we'll need to check.
I was already frustrated and was basically having oats, boiled pasta with some veggies and lentil rice with just salt daily, but my symptoms kept coming back, despite taking PPIs and antacids. And I also started feeling LPR like symptoms where my throat seemed to choke me from inside.
Endoscopy was done, damn I couldn't stop my gag reflex at all. Anyway, he collected the sample and observed a small hiatal hernia. I've already had two inguinal hernias so getting my body operated to treat another hernia was pretty disappointing. It felt like my body cavity is just full of flaws, and if not for modern medicine I would've had a very bad life. It feels both fortunate and unfortunate at the same time.
He also asked me to call him if and when the sample turns pink in 24 hours. Pink = H Pylori. Well, it surely turned pink in 4 hours. This relieved me a bit because treating H Pylori was ideally as simple as taking antibiotics, and treating hernia would've meant surgery.
I went through 2 weeks of antibiotics course (Tab LEVOFLOX 250 MG BD ,Tab METROGYL 400MG BD). The first 2 days were usual, but on the 3rd day I got insane levels of nausea. You know that sickly feeling you get that makes you panic. I rushed to the doctor and he told me it's normal with Metrogyl, try to tolerate, 10 more days to go, but if you can't then there are other antibiotics. Knowing that it's expected I thought I could soldier through for 10 more days, which I did. By the 5th day it was all normal, and my GERD was completely healed, or it seemed so. Note, by now even PPIs and antacids couldn't give me relief, so whatever these antibiotics were doing was definitely working.
My course was over and now I just had bloating. The doctor prescribed probiotics and 6 weeks of PPIs. I also met another doctor, one who has operated on me in my previous inguinal hernia, just to take a second opinion. He listened to be patiently, asked questions about lifestyle, diet, stress, and told me that the hiatal hernia based on my endoscopy doesn't warrant surgery. This is a very small hernia which you shouldn't worry about. He told me this is largely to do with stress and lifestyle (I felt a bit gaslit coz at this point I was having only 6-7 ingredients daily and doing everything I could to not trigger GERD). He suggested that I try some deep breathing exercises, to strengthen my diaphragm, and carry on with recommended lifestyle changes.
Fast forward to today, and I basically feel fit. No more GERD, no more LPR. Just bloating. I even have tomato, coffee, sourdough and other trigger foods carefully and it all seems fine now. This is the fittest I feel in the last 10 months. I wish I had gone for endoscopy sooner as I could've prevented months of illness. But I'm happy I didn't delay it any further.
tl;dr. Caught covid, then GERD, thought it was long covid, had several consultations and medications, finally got endoscopy done and it turned out to be H Pylori and Hiatal Hernia. Antibiotics worked and now I feel as good as normal except for some bloating.

2023.06.03 12:30 bogas04 I wanted to share my journey with covid, GERD, LPR, Hiatal Hernia and H Pylori

2023.06.03 12:07 Temporary-Youth-4172 Urgent Request for Financial Assistance: Help Needed to Pay School Fees and Continue Education

Hello, Reddit community,
I hope this message finds you all well. I am writing with great urgency and hope that someone here might be able to offer assistance in a challenging situation my sister and I are facing. We are currently in high school and have been chased from school on 31/05/2023 due to unpaid fees. Our deadline to pay and continue studying is fast approaching, as our final academic exams are scheduled to begin on 28/06/2023.
The total amount we need to cover our school fees is $894. Unfortunately, our family is facing financial hardships, and we are unable to meet this obligation on our own. The consequences of not paying our fees would be devastating, as it would not only halt our education but also severely impact our future prospects.
We are reaching out to this compassionate community in the hopes that someone might be able to extend a helping hand. Any amount, no matter how small, would make a significant difference in our lives and provide us with the opportunity to continue our education. We are committed to working hard and making the most of this chance to build a better future for ourselves.
If you require any further information or documentation to verify our situation, we are more than willing to provide it. We understand the importance of transparency and want to assure you that your support would be going to a genuine cause.
Time is of the essence, as our deadline is within this week. We are grateful for any assistance you can offer or even any guidance on potential resources or organizations that could help. If you are unable to help directly, sharing our message with others who might be able to lend a hand would also be deeply appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read our plea. We remain hopeful that this community's kindness and generosity will shine through and help us overcome this difficult hurdle. Together, we can make a difference and enable us to continue our education.
Warm regards,

2023.06.03 12:01 throw_idk46 Sometimes you're different, and that's okay!

Just wanted to write a quick post about things that I seem to experience differently than the majority of breastfeeding moms. Hope it can reassure some people here that differing from the majority doesn't necessarily mean that anything is wrong with you!
Some backstory: LO is 3 and a half months old and been EBF since about 2 months old. We started out with formula mostly because she had trouble properly latching because she was SGA. After weeks of struggle with the flimsy nipple shield, triple feeding, struggles with a belief of low supply, finally an IBCLC visit helped me establish a good schedule that allowed for weaning off formula and we're exclusively nursing now! I'd say I'm a bit above a just enougher and building a moderate freezer stash from a haaka during night nursing sessions when I'm more full because of longer stretches between feedings.
So here's a list of things that made me unsure about my supply but turns out, didn't mean that anything was wrong:
I think that's all of it. Is there anything you have experienced differently than the majority seem to be?

2023.06.03 12:00 AutoModerator Daily r/LawnCare No Stupid Questions Thread

Please use this thread to ask any lawn care questions that you may have. There are no stupid questions. This includes weed, fungus, insect, and grass identification. For help on asking a question, please refer to the "How to Get the Most out of Your Post" section at the top of the sidebar.
Check out the sidebar if you're interested in more information on plant hardiness zones, identifying problems, weed control, fertilizer, establishing grass, and organic methods. Also, you may contact your local Cooperative Extension Service for local info.
How to Get the Most out of Your Post:
Include a photo of the problem. You can upload to imgur.com for free and it's easy to do. One photo should contain enough information for people to understand the immediate area around the problem (dense shade, extremely sloped, etc.). Other photos should include close-ups of the grass or weed in question: such as this, this, or this. The more photos or context to the situation will help us identify the problem and propose some solutions.

2023.06.03 11:35 Metgot-Haggan Va healthcare unprofessional

Just curious if any other vet out here is sick of the way some VA staff treat you?
I went to see if my glasses could be repaired due to them being scratched when the va sent them and was absolutely greeted with the most disgusting employee, I have a fairly decent repertoire with a few of the staff since moving to this new state and have literally only ever been in the optometrist office once before, this was the one time I actually really needed assistance for my vision due to the occupation I am pursuing and was almost instantaneously laughed at, called wonky, and felt absolutely horrible during this appointment scheduling.this nurse tends to have it out for me. Even when I’m picking up my scripts from the pharmacy or working with KT doing labs etc. this individual whenever they so much as have a passing glance at me either has a snarky ass remark or something in regard to my limp quote “hey you were walking fine now your limping with a cane” frankly I just wanted to vent because one day my psyche is gonna snap and this nurse is sure as hell gonna feel what an ex “4-B2” patient is capable of doing when all anger is finally pointed at someone else rather than me.
Can I seek outside treatment for optometry?

2023.06.03 11:15 esoterika24 Our little one is happy and earth side. Positive birth story (TW-after infant loss)

We did it! Our little one, Ian (named for the strong hurricane during his transfer, my favorite character in the book series Outlander, that helped me mentally survive these past years, and a tribute to his big sister’s name) is finally here! 10 pregnancies and we have our take home baby. I’m exhausted so hopefully writing a cohesive update!
Our scheduled c-section went smoothly with no complications except a delay due to emergencies in the morning. So we got to wait and prep in a regular L&D room which ended up being great, except I was so hungry. My mom was allowed back with us for L&D and wouldn’t have been allowed with us to wait otherwise. We tried to relax through the delay and watch a movie. Then finally it was time!
It was strange going through the same procedure but in a non-urgent manner. The dr took her time to make sure things done in haste last time healed even better, we had Beatles music playing, and I didn’t realize they had even started cutting! There were a lot of tears-anxiety, worry, hunger, and overwhelming happiness.
I slept ok, mainly interrupted by itching. We debated going to the transitional NICU for awhile and decided against it because he was making great efforts to feed. Then compromised with a few hours in the regular floor nursery, where he got some extra attention and we got a little sleep. My biggest physical complaint at the moment is itching in reaction to the epidural!

2023.06.03 11:06 SnooStories8524 How long should I "hold on" while my boss looks for dedicated new hires

I've been at my current job for 3 months now. My boss is the owner of a franchise store. Everything started off okay, all my former coworkers were hired and trained with me at the same time and I thought we would have had a longer work life together. My boss told me that people lately that she's hired have only been working for less than a month up to about 3 months when they usually have the routine down and all of a sudden they would leave the job. I had a sense the drop rate was high, but I didn't expect my life to be like this. So after settling in with my fellow coworkers I'd thought we'd be together for a while. However, after about a month both of them would call out constantly and I'd be the only one available so my boss didn't give me a choice in the matter of saying no even though I had appointments and other things set up. That or I would blatantly say no but she would guilt trip me to staying because there was no one else to switch with. All of a sudden within a week of each other both my coworkers left the job and it was no one but me and my boss for weeks. No days off. We now have 1 new person that's been here only a few days and picked up on things rather quickly which I'm happy for. But I know it's too early to ask to change the schedule. But also I'm super tired all the time. She pays me for my time, but mentally I can't take much more of this. As of yesterday we got another new person but they are super shy and physically don't want to touch anything to get the routine down. My boss hasn't had much time off either so yesterday she took a day off and left me with the store alone and training the new people at the same time. I don't have the patience to deal with this and I know they'll feel better being taught by the person that hired them. The job is VERY fast paced so unless we have an unusually slow day it's hard for one person to train during the day unless you have backup. I finally got a vacation this past week but I couldn't really relax because I knew in the back of my mind long shifts were coming ahead when I came back home. I'm already ready to just not deal with work again. I feel like I don't see my family anymore. I come home to dinner ready and everyone is asleep. I eat and immediately go to bed because I have to get up early. It just makes me depressed and sad I don't get more time with my family. My boss is determined to not make work my whole life but I don't know how much longer I need to stay mentally stable to get life in order. What should I do?

2023.06.03 10:51 Kami1996 The Nine Hells: Nessus

I literally sit beneath eight tiers of scheming ambitious entities that represent primal law suffused with evil. The path from this realm leads to an infinite pit of chaos and evil. Now, tell me again how you and your ilk are the victims in this eternal struggle. - Asmodeus (Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes)
The plane of Nessus is incredibly unique compared to the other planes of Nessus. This plane floats in a swirling crimson void that encompasses them from all directions. The plane itself is flat in its surface, devoid of trees or changes in elevation. The desolate plane, unlike any other plane of Baator, is finite in its size. It stretches 2,500 miles from east to west and 1,100 miles from north to south. The flatness of the plane leaves no place for any creature to hide.
A system of crisscrossing gorge and canyons marks the only true changes in elevation in the plane. In these gorges, canyons, and the network of caves that connect them, live the billions of devils of Nessus. These structures have an infinite amount of space even given the finite nature of the plane. These gorges and canyons often cross, forming towering plateaus.
The canyons and gorges are each distinct and travel to specific locations. However, they all look exactly alike. More importantly, most of these canyons are missing from most maps of the plane. A few maps that were drawn by suicidal or brave adventurers can be found but tend to be extremely pricey. A map of a square mile section of Nessus can easily cost as much as a small castle.
A few of these canyons have bridges that span them. These few bridges are heavily guarded by Asmodeus's elite guards and a host of traps. Rare unguarded bridges are death traps that will inevitably break and send any crosser to their death. The shallowest canyon is 200 feet deep, and the remaining canyons and gorges are usually deeper. Devils in Nessus who cannot fly are encouraged to stick close to the caves and crevasses. In emergency situations, the devils must climb the walls using some sparse handholds or frayed ropes. It is not uncommon for devils to fall to their deaths as a result.
Directions in Baator are unlike the directions of the Material Plane. The strange nature of these planes makes the standard compass rose useless. Most Archdukes simply established the standard compass as a means of travel and mapping for their own planes, arbitrarily assigning a point as north. Asmodeus however, decrees that his own castle should be the northern most point despite its central location on the plane. The strange decree further complicates maps of Nessus making navigating the plane even harder.

DISCOVERY

Nessus was the first layer of Baator to be created and was the original plane of Hell to be created when the Gods of Celestia signed the Pact Primeval. The plane was granted to Asmodeus and his ilk by the Gods so they would not have to witness the punishment rendered to mortal souls. On the plane, the devils first began their plans to corrupt mortals. It was on this original plane that these devils, still somewhat angelic in nature, worked with the Ancient Baatorians to administer their justice. The plane, bleak and barren, was slowly built up and expanded into a tiered infinite plane. The plane was rapidly built into a major factory for manufacturing more devils and harvesting divine energy from the mortal souls that the devils corrupted. The only brief delay in construction of the plane came during a short, but vicious, war between Mephistopheles, the former right hand of Asmodeus, and the Arch-Devil. After the war ended, the construction began anew and the two made amends.
When the Gods discovered that Asmodeus and his devils were luring mortals into disobedience and corruption, they once again put Asmodeus on trial. When the trial proved useless and Asmodeus was acquitted of the charges, the Gods were furious. They threw the devil back to Baator, sending him hurling from the tip of Celestia.
When Asmodeus crashed into Baator, the force of the impact tore a stretch of the initial plane and killed many of the plane's original inhabitants and mutilated many of the others who were not powerful enough to withstand the impact. As the devil continued to fall with his stretch of the original Baatorian plane, the devil carved new planes. Eight new planes formed before the devil and the plane he had rent from the original stopped falling. Asmodeus continued to fall deep into the plane till he came to rest under a massive pile of rubble, bleeding and badly hurt, in the deepest part of Nessus, which came to be known as the Pit.
When the devil eventually recovered, he made this deepest, finite plane his home as a reminder of his fall. From Nessus, the Arch-Devil slowly retook control of the remainder of Baator and resumed his lawful duties.
The creation of the plane of Nessus was not known to the mortal races for millennium. Asmodeus is a jealous guard of his plane and entrance to Nessus requires a letter of permission from the Arch-Devil himself. The first documentation of the plane of Nessus for the Prime Material Plane comes from the philosopher, Philogestes. Philogestes sold his own soul to Asmodeus for the opportunity to document information about Baator. Though, he was given permission to observe and record details about the plane of Nessus, Philogestes could not detail everything. Much of Nessus remains a mystery to those who dwell on the Material Plane.

Travel

The easiest way to travel to Nessus is to be invited by the Arch-Devil onto the plane. Very few mortals have ever received this privilege.
For those who have not received a personal invitation, the only way to enter the plane would be through the plane prior to it, Cania. From Cania, adventurers could sail along the River Styx into Nessus. This path is extremely perilous. For starters, the river is incredibly difficult to navigate. Directions in the Nine Hells are confusing. It is just as likely that sailing along the river could lead to Maladomini. Additionally, the river’s currents are unpredictable, forming whirlpools, eddies, and undertows that can challenge even the most experienced sailors. Moreover, the Styx is guarded by roaming bands of devils as well as undead which are drawn to any sources of life. The river is also known to create illusions and mirages which can mislead travelers. It would be advisable to hire a devil in Cania to act as a guide on the waters.

THE LOCALS

Nessus is different from the other layers of Baator because it has a much higher proportion of the greater devils compared with the lesser devils. The most common kind of devil that is found on Nessus is the pit fiend, though horned devils are a close second. In addition to devils, a few other creatures traverse the planes of Nessus. While hellhounds are a common beast in Nessus, a special breed of hellhound known as the Nessian hellhound roams the plane. These are far more vicious and deadly than the original hellhound. The Nessian hell-hounds form packs with the regular hellhounds and hunt the plane for intruders or lesser devils. There are a few other fiendish beasts that are not devils on Nessus, but there are no mortals who live here.
Asmodeus, a tall, red-skinned devil, with dark horns and elegant clothing is the Lord of Nessus. Known as the Dark One, the Lord of Lies, and the Prince of Evil, Asmodeus is the Arch-Devil of Baator. He rules the plane with an iron fist of law and conducts himself in a soft-spoken, articulate, and ruthlessly logically. Those who look closely at the Arch-Devil will notice that though the devil holds himself with poise and elegance, he is covered in injuries that have not healed. These injuries were sustained by Asmodeus when he was thrown from Celestia. Asmodeus carries himself in public as though the injuries no longer affect him, however they still hurt tremendously, and Asmodeus focuses much of his energy on recovering from the injuries.
Asmodeus is the undisputed master of Baator and exercises complete control over the plane. The Arch-Devil can alter any of the planes at will and can also alter the forms of any of the other Archdukes of Baator. In some cases, he can also kill the others, which causes some of the Archdukes to fear him greatly. With his dominance over Baator, Asmodeus spends much of his time focused on the conquest of other planes, especially the Prime Material Plane and Celestia. Asmodeus receives the energy from any soul collected by any devil or Duke of Baator. For the time being, He spends his time using the energy to heal his own wounds. Once his wounds have healed, Asmodeus intends to use the collected Divine Energy to forge a temporary truce with the Demons and use the truce to destroy the forces of Good once and for all.
Asmodeus is a schemer in every sense. The devil is a smooth talker who only engages with non-devils to corrupt them. One example of such a corruption is the corruption of Zariel, a celestial, into the once Archduke of Avernus. Asmodeus is one of the few devils to never father any Cambion, considering himself far superior to any such creature. A few tieflings also receive the blessing of Asmodeus. These tieflings are far more intelligent than any other and are given a superior mastery over fire. These tieflings are resistant to flames from any creature except those commanded directly by Asmodeus.
In addition to his unsurpassed intellect and charm, Asmodeus is an unmatched combatant, well-versed in both magic and weapon-craft. Asmodeus earned his fame when prior to the creation of Baator, the then-angel was ambushed by a demon invasion without his troops. The Gods sent an army of angels to defend the invasion, believing Asmodeus to have been overwhelmed. The angels arrived too late, however. Instead of finding an army of demons, the angels found that Asmodeus kept the invasion at bay and even pushed the defense into an offense into the Abyss, bolstered by their reinforcement. Though the Archdevil has not fought at the front lines of the Blood Wars, his combat prowess has not decreased.
Once a year, the Arch-Devil holds a feast at his palace in Nessus's Pit, Malsheem. To this feast, the Arch-Devil invites the other Archdukes, devils who have earned a seat of honor, and a few select mortals that have earned his respect or interest (for better or worse). The feast is an enormous affair, and the only time of the year when the pathway to the palace becomes available for creatures other than the Dukes of Nessus to traverse, though it is still heavily guarded to prevent intruders from reaching the palace. The purpose of the Feast is to serve to touch base with the dukes to ensure that Asmodeus's plans are going according to plan, to ensure Hell's superiority in the Blood War, reward devils who have performed exceptionally enough to gain the Lord of the Nine's attention, and to contract mortals who may be useful to himself. These feast feature extravagant performances, a plethora of delicious food and drink, and as much vice as any being could desire.
Adramalech is the right-hand of Asmodeus and serves as the Arch-Devil’s chancellor. His preferred form is that of an elderly human man with a gray beard. His eyes change color to reflect his mood, green when he’s happy and orange when upset and black all other times. In this form, the only features to identify him as a devil are two small, crimson horns that protrude from his head and a single forked tail. He prefers to dress in hues of green and purple.
This devil is tasked with maintaining all records regarding the Nine Hells. In this role, he constantly updates the number of souls collected, the various contracts that exist between devils and mortals, and presides over the court of Devils which settle disputes regarding contracts. Adramalech also tracks every torment caused to devils and the names and locations of any devils not in the Nine Hells. Somehow, despite this busy schedule, Adramalech also finds time to maintain an extensive spy network among the pit fiends which collect information. Adramalech stores this information and the true names of all devils in a tome he calls “The Infernal Record” which is colloquially known to mortals as the “Book of Fire”. Adramalech finds stress relief by torturing the souls of mortals in an extensive dungeon network which lies below Fortress Nessus. He especially despises Humans and Elves and takes special joy in causing them pain.
Adramalech has full authority to give orders to devils. This power was given to Adramalech because he is the only devil in the Nine Hells who shows no desire to usurp the Asmodeus. As a notably weak devil, Adramalech understands that even if he were to somehow become an Arch-Duke or Arch-Devil he would be easily overthrown. Instead, he enjoys the power and control he wields over the Nine Hells from the safety of Asmodeus’s right hand. Adramalech enjoys a small cult of followers in the Prime Material Plane who kidnap and sacrifice human and elf children to him. Because Adramalech is so physically weak, he is constantly guarded by a legion of Pit Fiends.
Phongor is the left-hand of Asmodeus and a rival of Adramalech. This devil usually resembles a human male with pink skin and eyes which glitter even in the shadows. He has oily black hair, two small twisting black horns, and red hooves for feet with a similarly colored tail.
Phongor serves as Asmodeus’s Chief Inquisitor. It is his duty to uncover secrets or to find information that Asmodeus wishes to find. Phongor is considered the most feared devil in Baator after Asmodeus because of his penchant for torture, his prowess in combat with a wickedly sharp whip, and his ability to sniff out secrets.
Phongor’s rivalry with Adramalech is because he knows that the Record Keeper does not know his true name. Adramalech frequently sends spies to try to find Phongor’s true name as it is the only one, he does not know. In response, Phongor sniffs out these spies and viciously kills them because he knows that his secret allows him to maintain an even position of power in Nessus with the Chancellor. His prowess at finding information for Asmodeus means that he holds equal value currently for the Arch-Devil. Phongor spends much of his time ensuring that Asmodeus is well informed regarding the events of every plane. To do so, he has enlisted some of Adramalech’s spies to work for him and tortures information out of other creatures as he needs.
While Adramalech and Phongor serve as Asmodeus’s right and left-hand respectively, his favorite servant is his executioner, Alastor the Grim. A horrifically scarred and broken winged pit fiend, Alastor is considered the strongest of the Pit Fiends. Rumored to be one of the first devils born from Asmodeus’s blood, Alastor the Grim does not speak or act independently of his master. He always accompanies the Arch-Devil acting as a bodyguard and as the executioner for whomever displeases Asmodeus. It is a common belief that if the Nine Hells were destroyed and Asmodeus could only save one creature other than himself, he would choose Alastor the Grim. Alastor the Grim also commands the personal armies of Asmodeus.
There are always six generals in Nessus for Asmodeus’s armies. These generals are constantly changing as the devils vie for power and control.

NOTABLE LOCATIONS

There are two types of notable locations on the plane of Nessus: geographical features and infernal constructions.
The first major geographical feature of Nessus is the river Styx, which enters Nessus through a hidden (and heavily guarded) location from Cania. The river reaches its lowest point in Nessus in a lake known as the “Forgotten Lake”. From here, it sinks into the plain and drips into Gehenna (an outer plane not connected to the Nine Hells).
The Forgotten Lake is rumored to be the place that beautiful memories go to die. When mortal souls are first brough to the Nine Hells, their memories are stripped from them and sent here. Here, the thoughts are broken down and destroyed. Should a creature look into the waters, they will see beautiful memories that slowly corrupt into fiendish nightmares.
Several other rivers also off shoot from the river Styx to fill the rest of Nessus. One of these, indistinguishable from the others, is the river Lethe whose waters are known to cause complete memory loss.
Several notable gorges are also spread throughout the plane. Reaper’s Canyon is Nessus’s canyon of death. Here, no injuries heal, and death finds creatures twice as quickly as elsewhere. Sicknesses and disease are far more powerful. Another canyon is known as Hell’s Lips and is the epitome of gluttony. Mortals that find themselves here may become overcome with insatiable thirst and hunger. One fissure that travels from north to south on the plane is “The Nest”, which houses hundreds of nests for fiendish wasps.
The most noticeable geographic location in Nessus is the large winding canyon that sinks deeper and deeper into the plane, The Serpent’s Pass. This canyon, carved from Asmodeus’s fall, carves to the deepest point of Nessus, which in unknown even to most devils.
At the center, and northern most point, of the plane is a large pit which houses the city of Malsheem. Built from stone and Baatorian green steel, the city stretches in multiple layers along the gorge. Over time, the ever-expanding city has slowly begun to form tunnels into the walls and floor of the pit. This large structure, designed by Asmodeus, is home to millions of devils, perhaps the strongest in the nine hells. Here, Asmodeus keeps his personal army, waiting to conquer the planes with it. At the center of the city of Malsheem is the Fortress Nessus.
Fortress Nessus sits at the deepest point of the Serpent’s Coil but rises far above the rest of the plane. Decadent and bleak, the fortress seems to be a failed recreation of the home of the Gods. Here, Asmodeus resides and rules. The fortress has not been mapped previously and seems uninhabited at all times of the day. Despite its appearance, the fortress is teeming with devils and dangers. Below the fortress is an extensive dungeon which houses the souls of humans and elves for Adramalech to torture. Fortress Nessus also houses the Infernal Records.
The last location of note for Nessus is Tabjari, which lies in Reaper Canyon. Tabjari is a copper citadel which serves as the library, vault, and armory for Asmodeus. Tabjari is nearly impossible to enter. Its entrance is a highly guarded secret. The entire structure is heavily guarded by traps, magic, and devils. The security of Tabjari is even greater than the security in Fortress Nessus because it houses Asmodeus’s greatest treasure, one of the original copies of the Pact Primeval.

MYSTERIES

There are many mysteries with the plane of Nessus for the curious adventurer to find, though at great personal risk. Many of these mysteries remain because adventurers who chose to explore the plane did not return.
The first great mystery of Nessus is how to enter the plane. Though there is an entrance via the river Styx, this passage would require that adventurers travel through the other 8 planes of Baator to find their way into Nessus. Still, this river entrance is hidden and extremely well-guarded. Finding and mapping this location would make one rich beyond definition.
Another great mystery of Nessus comes from a rumor that Asmodeus is still greatly weakened by his wounds. A common rumor within the Outer Planes is that Asmodeus’s true form lies still broken and beaten within Fortress Nessus. Many of the other Archdukes and the Demon Princes of the Abyss spend a significant amount of time trying to find out if the rumor is true (and the location of Asmodeus’s true form) with the hopes of conquering the 9 hells.
The fortress Nessus hold many other secrets, such as information about the weaknesses of the Archdukes, that could hold much value for any being that could find them.
Tabjari holds one of the original copies of the Pact Primeval, which provides the place around it with enormous power. In this place, magic is said to achieve feats that would be otherwise impossible. For this reason, its location is deeply sought. Additionally, the copy itself provides significant strength to the devils. If it were to be stolen, it would greatly turn the tide of the Blood War in favor of the Abyss.

SURVIVAL

Surviving Nessus is horrendously difficult for those that have not been personally invited by Asmodeus. Travelers should equip themselves with means of surviving some of the hottest temperatures in the planes, second perhaps only to the plane of fire. Likewise, they should equip themselves to survive frigid temperatures that exist in some of the gorges. Because Nessus is finite, it can be more easily mapped than any other planes. Perhaps a daring adventuring group would be able to find some enemy of Asmodeus who has a map of the plane. Another duke of the nine hells may have such a map and forming a pact with one may be wise for finding a way through Nessus without Asmodeus’s permission. If not, the safest way to traverse the plane would be to make some pact with the Arch-Devil.
For those who attempt to sneak onto Nessus, stealth is the best option. The plane teems with a seemingly infinite number of the deadliest devils in the nine hells. Direct confrontation with a small group will only draw more of them towards a party. Additionally, it would be wise to find some way to carry provision onto the plane because food is sparse. Nessus is also covered in a dense fog of noxious fumes which make breathing difficult. Adventurers should account for this trait and find some way to filter their breathing as needed.

With this, I have finally finished an entry for each of the Nine Hells for the Atlas project. I started writing about the Nine Hells in 2018, five years ago. After 4 years of writing and rewriting this article, it’s finally done which is a weird feeling. Nessus was especially hard to write about because I wanted it to feel dangerous, mysterious, and hard to understand. Hopefully, this is useful to some people. Moving forward, I’m planning to update the older entries with better information.

2023.06.03 10:30 sindigage My arm is going to fall off

I cosleep with my 6 week old. She can roll over, hates sleeping on her back and tummy time is life. Usually we have a good schedule and she'll wake me every 2-4 hours to feed. She is absolutely thriving and is indeed a happy baby. The last few nights she had some moments where she was inconsolable for about an hour or 2 then would be fine. Last night she woke up every hour to cry. My husband and I played hot potato with this child and usually she'll pick one or the other to be satisfied with but she wasn't having it. It seemed that was going to happen again tonight but I found a horrible position I didn't mean to get stuck in that's breaking my arm but she's been asleep for almost 3 hours. Good sleep too. I'm literally using my throbbing fingers to hold up my arm that her head is on to keep position because I'm not risking waking her and fucking up the good sleep she's finally getting. Anyone else just a pull out mattress for their baby?

2023.06.03 10:25 Bottleddekuprincess Realization

I always thought life would be like some fairytale. But now all I do is work and with the free time I have I over schedule and end up disappointing people; or don’t do anything and am disappointed in myself. Does anyone actually live fun moments? And how do you even find the time and money and effort to do it? I don’t know if something is wrong with me or if I was just too much of a dreamer? I just feel like I finally hit a point in my life where I don’t think it’ll get much better than this.

2023.06.03 09:55 LopsidedCompote5187 What could be wrong with my stomach?

24, Female, Caucasian, US. Medications currently lorazepam and escotalipram. Conditions Ibs and chronic Constipation. I got very sick January 2022, my stomach suddenly went from being able to eat everything. To getting sick from everything, I managed to eventually get a gi and do testing. Colonoscopy clear, celiac clear, then got the endoscopy. By now it had been many months of suffering and hospital visits. It was July when I got my gastritis diagnosis, I was told just had a mild case a bit of inflammation. I didn’t have Helicobacter pylori, so I didn’t need antibiotic. I was confused since my research showed that normal gastritis can normally clear up on its own in a few weeks. So why had I been sick for so many months?, started the anti acids, got prescribed a stronger dose. Those took 5 months to start working, I was taking them for 5 months with no improvement. Finally started showing some relief, however my stomachs never been the same. Gi had referred me elsewhere for more testing. However the new Gi thinks it’s just Ibs and is a pain to deal with. I’ve had Ibs for so many years w chronic constipation since birth and never had issues eating foods. I can’t eat dairy anymore, fatty food, spicy food, greasy food, high fructose, etc. Pretty much anything I eat makes me feel sick. It’s been over a year now, I try eating vegan only eating meat if it’s white chicken breasts and such, fish too. Gi has me scheduled for SIBO breath test in late July. I’m sick of eating simple veggies and food that should be safe and then just feeling sick after. Bloating, gas, cramps, pain, clear mucus sometimes light yellow w bile, when constipated and such dark yellow mucus for hours till I empty my bowels out. I don’t understand how a small case of gastritis sent me into this suffering?

2023.06.03 09:48 tankgirl710 Landlord is trying to move in new tenants and start new lease before our date of vacancy - Denver, CO

Edited to add the correct paragraph from the lease
As the title states, my landlord is trying to move new tenants in and start a new lease on the property I'm living in before my husband and I will be moved out. We are relocating across country and our new lease begins a week into July. We have been month-to-month a little over a year and living here for a little over 3 years. We gave our current landlord more than 30 days notice of us vacating the premises, with our final day being July 5th, as 30 days notice was the only requirement stated in our lease. I'll paste the paragraph from the lease below. We will likely be gone a few days before then because we're driving and need to be where we're going on the date our new lease begins, but wanted to ensure we weren't screwing ourselves, our landlord, or the next tenants over if we end up behind schedule, so we stated July 5th in our official notice message. As far as I can tell Colorado does not require 30 days notice to correlate to the rental period unless the lease states so. I can't quite infer whether that's what our lease is stating.
Landlord did not respond for three days, and initially gave some pushback about the date because "most tenants prefer a first of the month start date," but I thought we we finally landed on the same page. This is not the case, as I found the Zillow listing today and he's stated a July 1st lease start. I'm planning on reaching out to him in the morning when I'm not seething with rage but if he's anything but amicable, what do I do next? Do I reach out to the housing authority? A lawyer? Do we just have to be out by the first? The Zillow listing already has 8 applications submitted, and this is extra stress I do not need while facing my first cross country move. Thanks in advance for your help!
From lease: "Surrender of Possession. Tenant agrees at the Expiration Date to peacefully surrender and deliver the Leased Premises to Landlord. In the event Tenant retains possession of the Leased Premises beyond the Expiration Date and continues to pay rent, and if Landlord accepts such rent without any express written agreement as to such holding over, Tenant shall be deemed a month-to-month tenant subject to the terms and conditions set forth in this Lease, as applicable. In the event of such a continuation on a month-to-month basis, this Lease may then be terminated by either party giving twenty-one (21) days' written notice prior to the end of the rental month, and Landlord may, at Landlord's option, increase the rent for any such holdover period by giving Tenant twenty-one (21) days' written notice prior to the end of the rental month. The rental month shall begin with the due date of the monthly rent."

2023.06.03 09:44 4irasay Me (22M) and my girlfriend (21F) fight almost every night because I want to sleep. What can I do to prevent her from feeling so emotionally distressed ?

My gf (1 year relationship) moved in my small studio last year, due to the mutual benefits we had from living in the centre of our city. She previously lived with one of her friends in another city and had to do all of the traveling which was super inconvenient. Plus, we would spend much more time together.
Since she did, a subject of fighting I would have never suspected became constant drama. She's a night owl, and I'm a heavy sleepeearly bird, meaning I have to close my eyes for about 7h, and sleep about 6h30, preferably around 1am or so. I have to respond to a strict schedule, because where I live, medical exams are really difficult and learning require a heavy workload. For context, the average student studies around 10 hours per day, every day.
We've had some difficult times finding "us time" in that schedule, and I take the blame for being too anxious about not working and wanting to shorten some "us time" when exams are coming up, and also not having enough "quality time", meaning going out, going to see friends, playing outside... (keep in mind, we are broke students, so going out to eat is not something we can afford on a daily basis). What I did was that I divided work and private life as much as I could, meaning I changed up where I study from my appartement to the library (7:30am - 8:30pm), came home to do my assigned chores (30min or so), and finally spend time together (about 2 to 3 hours). But that tightly made schedule falls appart almost every two days : around 0:30am, I will be really exhausted, my eyes will start to close on they're own, and that's when she'll be asking for more time together, for every reasons she can find.
I started saying yes to bouts of 15 to 20 mins here and there, which led to bouts of 30 to 45 min, and last month, it was about 2 hours. Clearly I have a struggle with boundaries, and she uses various tools to get me to feel anxious about going to sleep : getting upset, arguing, not looking at me, not letting me talk, saying I don't care about her, crying, the silent treatment... so much so that I questioned the necessity of me putting hours so strictly in my schedule to get my things done. I compensated with lack of sleep for work (5hours, which leaves me with sleeping on the job, and not having any energy), or being late. I get up at that time because my mornings are where I work the best, and also now to have a good seat in my library.
About her now. She doesn't have the same curriculum as me, and she has a lighter schedule. She can mostly get up at every hour of the day, but she prefers to go to sleep around 5am to get up at lunch time, except for work days where it's going to be 2am, independently of the hour she needs to get up. She's also, and that plays a part in the sleeping thing I think, really emotionally attached to me, she doesn't see friends a lot, is pretty dependent on me to choose things for her, and is heavy on the fact that she wants us to go to sleep together. She's the most empathetic person I know, she would sacrifice everything she could for others, and we share dreams and values about family, love and relationships.
We have talked about this issue a lot during the past month, and can't find any agreement. She feels like we don't spend enough time together to satisfy her needs for attention, hence why she doesn't respect my hours. She also thinks that 5 hours of sleep won't kill me and my work.

So here's my question : should I accommodate to her and get up later, while sacrificing hours spent studying without her, and having to study at home, creating some friction because she wants to spend time with me when I can't, should I create strict boundaries about going to sleep at 1am, even if she literally will push me to make me talk to her, and throw a tantrum or invoke exceptional reasons (like a really big distress...), or is the problem lying in the fact that 10hours a day of work every day is simply not compatible with a couple's life.

TL;DR : My gf doesn't respect the hours I give her when I want to go to sleep, using every thing she can for me to feel anxious about it. Work-life balance is hard to find, hence why she wants every single minutes she can to talk to me.

2023.06.03 09:31 xagony Stand-Up Shower on Second Floor Leaking Downstairs. Urgent Help Needed!

Hey Reddit,
I need urgent help with a persistent issue in my second-floor stand-up shower. There is no shower pan, and as a result, water keeps leaking downstairs. I had the floor redone once, but it didn't solve the problem. It has been a challenge to get hold of the original installer, but I've finally scheduled a visit tomorrow. We plan to cut open the ceiling on the first floor to find the source of the leak. I need advice on how to ensure a permanent fix. Any suggestions? Thanks!
